This is the Truth Network. This is the Truth Network. She's real fine, my four oh nine. Yeah. She's real fine, my phone and my phone.
Welcome to the Christian Car Guy Radio Show with today's guest host, our Christian Body Shop Guy Jerry Mathis. I say this calls for action and now. Gonna save all my money Bye. You turning it on. Did that help me out?
Good morning and welcome to Christian Car Guy Radio. I am Jerry Mathis from Ray's Body Shop and Wrecker Service, Christian Body Shop Guy. I'm filling in this morning for Robbie Dillmore, who is on the Masculine Journey Men's Retreat this weekend, and I'm sure they're having a blessed time. And I'd be excited to hear about some great things that come out of those retreats every time the men get together. This morning, I'm just going to read a devotion from yesterday in Jesus Calling just because of sort of the environment we're in now.
I got Mark in the studio with me, Mark Flynn from Williams Hot Dogs and Barbecue. Hey, it's always a blessing to have Mark in here. But I'm gonna read this just because I don't know, it seems like we are in a time that every time I When I go to bed, watch the news, or you get up and you turn TV on, or you just turn radio on, all you're hearing is, it just seems like just a lot of trouble and a lot of. There's a lot of hurt in the world and The thing is, we know the answer to that is Jesus Christ. As long as uh The world is in conflict is most of the time Christ can make a difference.
No doubt.
So I'm going to read from yesterday's devotion: learn to live above your circumstances. This requires focused time on wi time with me. the one who overcame the world. Trouble and distress are woven into every fabric of this perishing world, only my life in you can empower you to face this endless flow of problems with good cheer. As you sit quietly in my presence, I shine peace into your troubled mind and heart.
Little by little, the You are freed from earthly shackles and lifted up above all your circumstances, you gave my perspective on your life, enabling you to distinguish between what is important and what is not, rest in my presence. Receiving joy that no one can take away from you. When I read that devotion yesterday, it just as I was reading it and in the background I had the T V playing in the news. And it was just, I don't know, just to me, it just, you know, how do I overcome that? How do you get up in the morning?
And I'm looking at Mark, and I think you're probably going to agree with this. It seems like when you get up in the morning, all you face, there's no joy in the world, it seems. And then the other perspective of it, what really bothers me is. I know a lot of people have different ideas and different thoughts and different Opinions on a lot of things: the political issues, the economic issues, the social issues. But one thing that we should always go back to on our stance on how we look at things, and this is what kind of brings things in perspective for me.
I kind of look at it doesn't really matter what political party or what the social issues, what does God's word say? And the only way I can get comfort. is by being in God's Word. And I think we sort of have to combat that by just being in God's word. And I think even that devotion talks about being in his presence.
Mark, I mean, for me, I'm the only time I'm in his presence that what really Bolsters that and gives me the ability to be in his presence is being in his word and through prayer. Outside of that, the world, the circumstances around me would just overflow and just kind of. put a damper on everything in my life. There is no cheer when you start Just looking at all the things that's going on. And the thing that really bothers me, and I know that.
When I say this, I want to hear Mark's thing because he has a lot of. Police officers and stuff that come in to Pollyums to have a hot dog and also to just socialize and to. just talk and share and stuff because that's part of one of the exciting things I I'm great things about Pulliam's hot dogs is it's not you walk up to a counter and you got a cashier there that there's no personal relationship with. when you walk in there, there's a personal relationship. But all all of our police officers, military, firefighters, uh, all of the, uh Law enforcement Are looked down on by so much of the community.
I don't think it's a big segment. But I think we need to stand up and make sure that we we show them how much we appreciate them. Because if there's in one thing that should bring us all together, one thing should be Jesus Christ. The other thing should be supporting those people who are trying to make our life more peaceful Uh more safe and how in the world we can have a segment of society who pushes back against that. And Mark, what's your take on that?
I know. I'm definitely like that myself. I mean, all those officers, uh, military fire. I mean, it it's just overwhelming to have to think and I a lot of times I do. I I pray silently to to myself when they come in the door and they go out to keep them safe.
And it's just I mean, back in the day it It's unreal the way violence and everything is this day and time that they have to wear cameras. to make sure that, you know, they're clear when they go to court and they've done no wrongdoings, even though the people try to make 'em look bad in society and I know here If you've been reading the news around here recently about the young kids downtown uh gathering and no respect for officers and I mean, it's a shame when you have stuff going on that you have to call the National Guard in. And of course we've got the stuff on the w in going around the world and And You just think about the prophecies, you know, of things happen the way they are right now. It it's just I mean, it's just overwhelming. I mean Me ourselves.
I mean, we have to watch our backs now because of the the violence out here that you may get caught up in somebody's crossfire and not even know you was getting into that predicament. Yeah, I I just think one thing that's that's lost uh in this in this country and in society is just respect. I mean, I think I try to go out of my way if I see a police officer or somebody in the military to just say thank you. Because I don't know how many times somebody comes up to them and says thank you. I think they hear more of the negative stuff thrown their way, because that seems to be the squeaky wheel that's the loudest and gets the attention.
And I think we need to make sure that we just let them know just how much we appreciate them and stuff. I think we have become a society that has drifted away from that. And I think it's so nice too that when officers or something may come in there that they somebody pays. They say I got his lunch. I'm paying for his.
Yeah, sorry. There there are a lot of We got a lot of good people out here, good Christian people. Yeah. I I I think it's just that You know, we we allow to the media can be and and I know we you know, I I know that I towed a phone with me twenty-four-seven and I'm holding it up here and you can't see that, but I don't know why how we ever made it without them years ago.
Well, it's a great thing, but also it it is a a tool of the devil. I mean, because the phones, your your your, you know, get on the internet, your computer, you can you can look up stuff and get some bad information that sounds like it's correct. That's where I always tell people you just can't. Just take you gotta you gotta research things and make sure what you're seeing is not looking at AI. Yeah, they can make up all these videos now to make it look.
Yeah. Like I mean, it's just Crazy what they do with that. Yeah, chat Good, whatever, dude, that chat G. Yeah, it's I don't do any of that scary, it's scary. I mean, really, it was scary.
Also, this is a call-in show, so I'm going to make mention of that: 866-348-7884. Again, 866-348-7884.
So, if you have something you'd like to talk about, just give us a call. And if something we say, you know, spurs you something that you want to speak up on or address, just give us a call. We'd love to hear from you. Yeah, any of my friends out there, Christian people, call in. We'd be happy to hear from you.
Yeah, just don't ask Mark his secret recipe for a slaw, though. He ain't going to get that or his barbecue recipe, okay? There you go. That's right. When we sit there, and also part of what I like to do when I'm on the air is there's a couple things.
I like to take the opportunity to feel like I save money for somebody or give them some advice. And because Mark's with me this morning, and I didn't really think about it until we were talking before we went on air, because of He's got a situation where his car is coming in because of a deer hit. And I know I've mentioned this on the air before: how important it is to make sure that you understand the language of an insurance company. Like a deer hit, and is a comprehensive claim. And a lot of people don't realize that.
And if it's a. If you don't know that and understand the span of a comprehensive claim, it could end up costing you money. And I think Mark can attest to this. When they start questioning you, they're going to ask you what happened into an accident. And there's a few things they will.
Not that they set a trap for you, but if you were to say something, misspeak. It can cost you money on the back side of it. And we're going to talk about that after the break. And again, this is a call-in show: 866-348-7884. Gotta feel Every plan to know the west.
You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Gonna save all my money and I ain't you Welcome back to Christian Clark Radio. I'm Jerry Mathis, Ray's Body Shop and Record Service. Again, it's calling show 866-348-7884. We have Jamal on the phone.
This morning, Jamal, how are you doing? I think he says, advice for non-believers. That's something we all need. Sure. Yeah, um, that that uh is something I thought about.
I was also calling about uh Mark's secret sauce to a slaw. I heard we can ask about that.
Well, good luck here. He said to come by, uh, let me see here, that fourth 4,400 old Walkertown Road. 4,400. And you can taste it, but I don't know. You can ask them about you asking for the special sauce right now.
I told you, Ma, we've had people come in there and try to do a uh elimination of items just trying to find out what it's at. I know where they're going with that.
So I'm like, you know, if you got a Person in your family that might be allergic to a certain item, I just suggest you don't get in the slaw because I'm not telling you.
Well, if I can't get it, at least I can taste it. That's right. Take a bite one time. Yeah, so you guys posed a question about what we can do for people who are out there struggling with all the world's problems, what can we See as Christians. Which is a very good thing to put out there.
We definitely have to address the world's problems and not run from them, especially as Christians. The thing that I thought about though was What about people who are not identifying as Christians?
Well, what can we say to those guys? Wow. You know, that is excellent. I mean, Jamal and you now I know Jamal well enough to know that he's one of the guys that. that is willing to step out there and be bold because I think sometimes, and this is I'm gonna tell you my personal thing.
for addressing a non-Christian when I'm trying to Tell them about my faith. I figure I'm not going to win a battle if they're not a Christian and a believer, if I'm just using scripture, because they're saying they don't believe in that. They don't see any value in that argument.
So I think that's step two. For me. That's step two, because step one is I share what Jesus Christ has done in my life. and how it's changed my life and how It brings me comfort, encouragement, and I can get an inroad then because they can argue scripture with me if they don't believe it. But they can't argue what Jesus Christ is done in my life.
Mass is that. Yep. And sometimes you feel like you're really put back in a the a corner, put in a bad situation 'cause they ju they will argue to They argue to death on that stuff, no matter what you got to say about Christ. what he means and what he could mean for his life, you know, but they just back in a corner. And just They don't want to hear it.
Well, that and I think that's it. I think it's just the fact. But once you break it down to just try to simplify it, because I think sometimes and I know Jamal is is it does a lot of evangelism stuff in the community. I know I hadn't been too awful long ago. I think you were in Las Vegas.
Um With the group, if I'm not wrong, am I correct on that? Yeah, that was right. I think that was the end of last year. We were no, no, it's going on two years now. Time flies.
Time does fly, but we we we were there recently depending upon which your definition of recent. But it was an amazing time. We had dozens of people get saved by a bunch of people that are not qualified but are willing. Uh, like you said, Brother Matthews. Uh, but hey, uh, look at the um.
qualifications of the the of the of the apostles. You know, some of the most unqualified guys, but they were willing and able. And Jesus selected them.
So, um, what does the saying go? He doesn't uh. Call the equipped, he equips the called. Um, so um, if you're willing to be called, he will equip you. But uh, thank you for your answers, guys.
I don't want to dominate your time. I love the show, I love the topic. Uh, you take care and God bless. Hey, Jamal, thank you for calling in and have a have a blessed uh weekend, and hope to see you tomorrow. Yes, sir.
Thank you. Bye. All right. Thank you. Well, Mark, you wouldn't give up the the recipe.
Got it. I'm gonna have to do like Coca Cola when we went to her develop Coca Cola and and Atlanta, one time down there, and they got a big huge vault with a certain secret in. I guess I'll have to try to find a place to put a vault in up there with a Lock the secret to the slaw up. Yeah, you just you just have it in a have a big, big uh vault and just or or Mm-hmm.
some kind of safe in that there and anybody who asks say it's in there And I don't have the combination. That's right. So I can't share. You can't throw away the key. Yeah, absolutely.
Well, going back to the insurance thing, the comprehensive claim. Mark had had I think Sharon hit a deer. And it was pretty simple because once you say a deer hit, they'll pretty well know that's a comprehensive claim. But where it gets messy on that is if you have a claim where you've hit something in the road, a tire, a wheel, a piece of metal, a rock, a brick, or whatever it may be, or a If you've You got up in your trash can, got knocked by somebody else into your car, or whatever it may be. The verbiage how you use Will make a big difference if it's a comprehensive claim or a collision claim.
If you hit something and it's not moving like a tire, if you pull up, going down 40. or highway, and there's a tire or recap in the road, and it's laying there. and you hit it. and it's stationary and it's not moving. That is a collision claim.
And a collision claim carries insurance points, and so your deduct, I mean, your premium will go up. Most likely.
Okay. Dollar amount that you get that one claim, but it'll always come back. If you have another claim, it'll pick that one up.
So the odds are it's gonna be an increase on your premium. If that Piece of tire was moving where it had been knocked by another car or just came off. If it's moving, Is a comprehensive claim. Same thing if it was a piece of metal in the road or anything else. the the definition of a comp claim would be that it has to be something moving that when it's moving, it's considered it hits you instead of you hitting it.
So it's it's it's complicated at times. But yet it's Pretty simple. Just always remember that. And a lot of times, because I'll hear people who come into the shop to get estimates, and they'll be. upset because when we get the claim it comes in.
Talk to the claims department, and when they get there, they're upset because it may say that it's a collision claim, and they say, Well, no, I hit something. But during the process, They ended up saying, I'm not sure if it was moving or not. And at that point, they're going to put it as a collision claim. We'll be right back in just a moment. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com.
Here come the Dutch Boys. Those good guys are back. With a look in their eye. They mean business this time. Their deals are great.
Now's the time to buy. See the Dodge Boys now for a new kind of deal. Welcome back to Christian Car Guy Radio. Again, I'm Jerry Mathis and in the studio with Mark. We'll talk a little bit about Pulliam's barbecue.
And I'll tell you what, Mark, I'm going to throw something out. Today, when I get off... At 12 o'clock, I'm coming up here. Come up here, Smike. Come up here, have a meet and greet at Poya's Barbecue today.
Come on. 12 o'clock, okay? Yep, come come meet Jerry Mathis, Christian Car guy. Oh, how about meeting Mark? Maybe more entertainment.
You know, go back to what you was talking about before you get, you know, with Sharon's car about a year and a half or so ago. We was coming up the road on Fifty-Two South one night and some metal fell off of a truck. And I did everything I could do to dodge it.
Well, it went up underneath the car and bust it, knocked a hole in the gas tank, which we pulled over and got out and got away from. It was cold outside, but You know, that same thing you're talking about. They got to. In church. people got talking to me about well was it moving or was it still or whatever?
And I said, Well, it was moving. Of course. And, you know, they kind of You know, adjusters can be great and adjusters can not be so great, but they were like questioning me about it big time.
So I went and got my estimates.
Alright, for a used tank, it was $500 and some dollars to be put. That's a labor and off. for a new hom to tank And laborin' all for doing all that, I mean the tank itself was like thirteen hundred dollars from Honda.
So it was going to be about 1,800.
So when they called me back, questioned me about it some more, I said, Okay, so if If you're not going to do comprehensive, I'm going with the $1,800. But now, if you want to do it the right thing, because the piece was moving. We can do it for $535.
Well, they went with the $535, so. I had the a little bit 'cause they were really hard on me about that piece moving or not. Yeah, they'll they'll question you on that and and and I understand because they're you know, who you're talking to worked for the insurance company and their thing is They're going to try to uh Not that they're not going to pay what they have to pay, but they're going to if you if you don't word it right because so many people will come in and they will say 'cause and they'll be upset and I'll say, Well, what did you tell them? They say, Well, I couldn't tell you. It was dark and I don't know if it was moving or not, but it had to be because there was cars in front of me and all of a sudden it's right in front of me.
I'm not going to hoodoo nobody, but look, if you if you don't put the pressure on me, I can come back and put a little bit on you at the same time.
So I mean it. It is what it is, but Some of these insurance adjusters can be pretty tight. A lot of them are. You're more in the business than I am, but I understand there's a lot of independent adjusters out there too that's just They're not really actually They're per se Contract or something, maybe, with an insurance company. Yeah, the adjusters have changed over the, have changed over the course of time where it used to be people that were.
Usually the adjusters had a background in the automotive repair industry, but now it's not. as prevalent as it used to be. And so they some of the stuff they don't Really understand that needs to go that other step. I always say to that this is something for everyone, and it doesn't have to be Ray's body shop and record service. I think everybody needs to.
if you're in an accident, go to a shop that you feel comfortable with. And hopefully, it's a shop that will negotiate with the insurance company on your behalf. I mean, we do it every day because there's people come in and We are DRP for most of the major insurance companies, State Farm. Farm Bureau, Nationwide, Liberty Mutual, we do the claim, and that's sort of the way things have evolved now. But You have the choice to take it anywhere, and I always say, take it to where you feel comfortable if you're in.
Seattle, Washington or or Utah or wherever it is, I always tell people to try to get a relationship, a tow-in relationship, a mechanical relationship, and a body repair relationship. With somebody in your community, that way, when the crisis, because when you're in an accident or your car breaks down or you've got a Radiator busted, or whatever it may be, when that hits, it's a crisis. Find that place that you're comfortable with, that you've already have a relationship with. That way you know it's going there and they'll walk you through it. And also for us, I mean, part of we spend hours just Walking the customer through it and also negotiating for the customer with the insurance company.
Yeah, it used to be years ago, too, being I've been. like you say, off, I've not you know, I've been on the paint side of it, lettering and pinstriping cars, but being around them. years ago you know yourself that the gesture came out and took pictures.
Now it's your responsibility now for me to bring it, like I did the Honda bring it to you, and you take the pictures and get up. I mean, that's that saves a step on me in having to fool with 'em, but Yeah. I've had a I've seen a lot of them in the day that bought their cam the adjuster bought the camera out and they looked at it. Took the Polaroids and had the picture in and out of the camera. All these people liked to lie about it, couldn't get away with it 'cause the adjusters showing up to look at it personally.
Yeah, and and today though the One of the things that trends that has changed, and people get really confused on and get bothered by it is. A lot of the insurance companies want you to just take pictures yourself and text the picture to them, and they'll write an estimate off of those pictures.
Well, I'm telling, and I tell people, don't worry about that. That only gets the repair process and the estimating and the claim started. Take the The estimate that they send you to, your shop that you want to use, give it to them. And at that point, like for us, We'll handle the claim then because as soon as it comes in, Traditionally, a photo claim is forty to sixty percent underwritten because they can't see. The depth of the damage, and if there's, you know, if the rails are pushed over or hidden damage you can't see, all they're doing is writing it to get it started because when it comes in, we automatically.
call and get an open shop assignment. Or Tell them that there's going to be a supplement for it because at that point, then we do the process the way it needs to. if it comes in and and A shop that you know told you it's going to be $2,000 and you did a photo claim and it's $500. Don't get stressed out by it. Take it to that shop and they'll make sure that it's.
Repaired correctly, and that everybody will get paid what they're supposed to. That photo claim just gets the process started. And these people have got to remember, too, at the same time, that. It ain't like it used to be in the old days when you could take and go get you two or three estimates, take the higher estimate. Get the check wrote to you.
And then go to the lower estimate, have them fix it.
Well, now the checks are made out, like mine to you. It's got my wife, my name, and Ray's body shop on it.
So I can't go. I couldn't say, well, Jerry, you wrote it for this, but this and over here, do it for $1,500. I'll just go over there to save myself. You can't do it. Yeah.
Because the body shop's name is on it. Yep, and the riding around and getting three and four estimates days are over. You're just spending your time and wasting your time and Confusing yourself because it's gonna go back to that estimate of record, and that's that first estimate. Either a DRP shop wrote it, like if we were one of the ones that we do direct repair for, we come in and write it. Then if it changes, it goes off of that estimate.
If you've got a photo claim, it goes off of that estimate. A lot of people will say, Well, they wrote it and they won't show somebody the estimate of record And then they get into it and there's hidden damage. And then you try to contact the insurance company, they want to know. what it compared to With your With what they wrote. And if there's a discrepancy, like they, this shop.
didn't get a part, they they had price for a part of $1,000 and they had it written up with a discount through another dealership for $800. You may be responsible for that other $200 or the shop or something. That's between you and the shop.
So being for disclosure on the insurance company and also the individual Vehicle owner is important to make the process smooth.
Well, I know one other thing I want to just make sure that I mentioned, I was thinking Fonda was going to be calling in, but she may have got tied up. Fonda Bryant, who was on the air, if you had an opportunity to. go back and look at a podcast from a couple weeks ago with Kingdom Pursuit. Fonda was on with Robbie and talked a little bit or talked quite a bit about mental health issues, suicide, suicide prevention. And one of the things she mentioned, she does free classes and seminars.
And she has a couple of them coming up. And I just want to mention those. But the reason I've mentioned that she was on air, if you get a chance, go back and listen to that. Fonda is very knowledgeable and it's a great resource, and her free seminars are just Excellent. But I will say, if you ever get the opportunity to hear And go to a live seminar that she's at, or if you're an organization, I can't stress how important and valuable it would be for you to bring her in.
There's a fee to do the live. Seminars, but it's well worth it. And the free ones coming up are Saturday, March 21st. from 12 to 2. And Saturday, April 11th, from 12 to 2.
You can get information and get logged in. no registration, you just got to log in and and and there's information at I'll give you the Isfonda. NC underscore forty at yahoo.com. That's F O N D A N C underscore forty at yahoo.com. Also, wellnessactionrecovery.org.
Any of those to get you all the information. Also, she has a fundraiser coming up, a motorcycle ride.
So. You'll just look into those, that website, probably get you some information back in just a moment. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Gonna save all my money You're turning it on, on you're gonna help it. And I'll be ready to go take it out to Pomona.
And let them know that I'm the goodest. Good morning, and welcome back to Christian Car Guy Radio. I'm Jerry Mathis, Ray's body shop and record service. Mark Lynn in the studio with me and uh Well, we've kind of we talked about the insurance processes and stuff. We've talked a little bit about the the environment we're in today.
Jamal called in and was able to talk about Just sharing Jesus Christ with a non-believer, and what we have as a responsibility. this morning uh before Mark gets out of here, because I I'm gonna Kind of put them on the spot a little bit because it's also for a lot of the stations that will be picking up the show that comes on next. Kingdom Pursuit and I'm going to kind of dive into that more for that Show just talking about how we take our beliefs into our business. And When I'm sitting here with Mark, I just just happened, I just wanted to take that opportunity because when I walk in, one of the things I've always appreciated. About going up and seeing Mark, of course, just just just the fellowship of it.
But I go in there and it's always It's almost like a a community inside itself. And I think people come in, and you don't hear the language that you may hear at other places. You don't hear. Um That Dislike from people. I mean, people just come in and just enjoy that and stuff.
And I think part of that is from the. ownership of the business. I think we reflect who In a way, our customers are, and people see who we are. And I know I have It's kind of funny how uh the as we were talking this morning before we went on air, there's I have like some s Second and third cousins that go up to Polyams that Mark didn't even know was my cousins and stuff. And then the other week I was up there, and my uncle came in, and he'd been coming to Polyams for years and years, and Walter didn't even realize he was my uncle.
But uh The point I'm trying to make is, I think wherever we are, and we talked about I talked about Jamal, the best way for me to evangelize to somebody is to share what Jesus Christ has done in my life. And the difference he's made because they can't, nobody can argue that. They can argue the Bible with me if they don't believe it, or a lot of things, but they can't argue what Christ has done in my life. And I don't think you necessarily have to be forceful on that. I think people see it.
I think people see that. You know, th I share My faith. I share that at Pandal Christian Church is a big part of my Who I am. And I know when Mark, he doesn't even have to say it, but he shares his faith. And also, people know that Poplar Springs, yeah, Poplar Springs.
I've got that in Jefferson about messed up there. Poplar Springs is part of Mark's life and stuff. And I just want you to just speak on that. Yeah, that's I mean, yeah, I'm real personable about. pe you know yourself that real personal when it comes to people.
I'm a people person, but really? Yeah, I just you know, I just and and I do. I said, you know, it's a shame at times I have to watch what I may go about things because of society today the way they can be about their negativity. But I always try to I was always brought up in church and and and to look at the positive things in life, not not go out here and be negative about things. Be positive.
and everything that you do, do it within the Lord. You know that you know that it even say to myself if I'm talking to someone, says I try to Git. Look at them and see what decide or see what I might get out of them as far as their Christianity may be. And And and really try to help them. A lot of people come in.
They a lot of people come in, eat, and just come by and say, I want I got something I need to talk to you about and And I'm I mean, I'm blessed for that. You know, if if you got time, talk to me a minute. And I'll say, Yeah, I know. talk to 'em and tell them, you know, Not necessarily what they should do, but you know, the good Lord will take care of you. Just pray about it.
Yeah. Hot dog and encouragement. That's right. You know, and I think that's so important, I think, in our walk as a Christian. I mean, no matter what our, you know, if it's we run a business, we work at a business, we're retired and we go at a certain lake every whatever, fishing or whatever it is.
Just being available where God's gonna put people in our path. Uh They just need to be encouraged. And I think it, you know. Poiam's hot dog in barbecue at times is the barber shop. I mean, you know, used to we used to always the old stories, you know, where uh barber knew knew more about your life than than your spouse did because of you went in there and that was sort of the the place you Pour it all out and and and that's who knew you better than anything.
And those kind of places aren't around as much as they used to be. I think society has got too fast and too. I mean, even. I mean I love that. When I walk into poems, like I said, I like history.
I like... That kind of stuff. Yeah, we've been blessed to be around since 1910. And I did want to say, too, that I'm not just the only one up there, but my employees are real good about. You know, You gotta have good employees to have a good atmosphere too.
They'll talk to you and I mean, it's just try to be personable to everybody that walks in it. I've always said you're not a customer, you're a friend. Yes. And 'cause I go back and I and I think back in my past because I can remember being a kid And my mom and dad, a big thing used to be, portraying open on Sundays. That's right.
And we'd go up on Sunday afternoon and eat ice cream. Eat ice cream. And watch the airplanes and eat a hot dog. And, you know what? We didn't have much at that time, so we'd have to get.
It'd be Five kids, and so we'd have to split a drink. because things were just different then, but things were slower and we didn't we weren't always in a rush. And you can still do that now because I just past Saturday before I went to the, I guess it's the weight game, Um We were getting ready to leave. Me and Myra, my wife, and she said, Well, let's go by and. Get a hot dog and stuff.
And so We go by and instead of going in the restaurant, we sat out in the car and ate a hot dog and just just talked. People love to sit on them stumps and talk. Yeah. I mean, I think that's something we don't do as families as much as we used to do. And I I mean, you go into a restaurant and everything's just busy, push, push, push, and you're you know, just just slow down sometimes.
You know, there used to be a time you'd sit around the Kitchen table and eat as a family. Those days are far between. And so I think the opportunity to to go somewhere and just Not be in a rush. Go and, like, say, go into Poohums. You walk up to the counter, hang around inside there, you pull a bottle drink out of a old chest there, and you know what?
Life's good. Just slow down.
Well, I've got a lot of people that like to come up there with a big family, get together like you somebody from town that ate, grew up eating there, and they're in town, and they come up and. you look out the window there and they're under that sign, that pullium sign, a the big group of them having their picture took under all those signs up. Yeah, I think O'Mark will tell you this every Like the week before Christmas Me and my siblings, my brother and three sisters, always go up there because we take that Saturday. and visit all of my living uncles and aunts. And there's the the number is is is dwindling pretty quickly.
But we do that and then we go up to Polyams because I know how much mama and my mom and dad love poiums, so that's part of that tradition. We do that and get finished up in time to go up and And and have a hot dog or barbecue and as a family great memories of your daddy. I mean, really, he just he eats with me a whole lot.
So, yeah, well, and Mark mentioned before, he used to really do a lot of the pinstriping and stuff. That's another lost arc. We're going to spend a Saturday one time talking about that stuff.
Well, again, man, it's been great having Mark on the studio. Tell you what, 12 o'clock, meet me up there and we'll have a hot dog and talk. But again, just thank you for listening. You've been listening to Christian Car Guy Radio and hope to see you back next week. Thank you.
Thank you, Jared.
