Joe Biden's speech last night wasn't a "State of the Union," as traditionally understood. It was a declaration of war upon half the country. Charlie reacts, with all the highlights (and lowlights).

That is not an insignificant detail, by the way. He kind of puttered along, took a long time to get up on the podium, and begins a speech. His speech was dark, angry, but it was strategic.

After he cracked some joke about how he should be done for the night, and he should stop after the standing ovation that he received from half the room, not the entire room, there was a bizarre beginning. Of all the different ways to frame where we are as a country, Joe Biden decided to compare his speech, his address, with Franklin Delano Roosevelt in January of 1941. Now, I'm not exactly sure what Biden meant by this in the sense that was before Pearl Harbor, technically. It was FDR's State of the Union address. He was warning about how Hitler was on the march, and how the Nazis are gaining power.

But then it became very clear what Joe Biden meant. He looks at himself as a wartime president, not as a wartime president against Russia, not as a wartime president against Hamas, but as a wartime president against you. He looks at himself as a general, a marshal in the army against the American right. He tries to position himself and positions history that the baby boomers and the, I'm sorry, the greatest generation, they fought the Nazis.

We fight MAGA. He positions this time as unique because democracy is under assault domestically and internationally. Now, he never defines what democracy means. He never defines what that is. It's the will of the people, the will of the many. No, it's an oligarchy.

What you saw on display last evening was a celebration of the oligarchy. And Joe Biden did not attempt to try and win over Republicans or independents. He didn't try to win over swing voters. Joe Biden's tone was defiant, not persuasive. His tone was angry and bitter. It's almost like, I'm in charge. All throughout the evening, he would turn to the president and charge all throughout the evening. He would turn to the Republican side of the room and almost say, I'm in charge.

You guys are a bunch of buffoons. Typically, at a State of the Union address, you put politics aside. Joe Biden led with the most politically charged statements you could imagine now, just so Joe Biden knows, look at one, one fifty nine or one fifty nine. That's the country he hates. It is most of the country.

Visually, it looks like he's at war with most of the greatest country ever to exist in the history of the world. This was not a State of the Union speech. This is a wartime address or was a wartime address against half the country.

This was a signal to crush political dissent. And in all of the response, including Katie Britt's underwhelming State of the Union address response, I was losing patience. Katie Britt, to her credit, mentioned the border. Now, we could talk about how Katie Britt was.

It was kind of like a bad actor reel in Hollywood. She was whispering to the whole thing. She seems like a very sweet person and a good mother. I'm glad she's in the U.S. Senate. I wish her well. She big swing and a miss last night because there's this glaring component that everybody seemed to miss.

And Katie Britt should have leaned in and said, hey, before I get started, just so you know. That man who calls himself a president is quietly overseeing the greatest lawfare operation against a political dissident in American history. And we're not going to put up with it. Joe Biden was too cowardly.

Or was he strategic? Not to mention that he has deployed Merrick Garland against over 1000 January 6th defendants. The Donald Trump is facing 700 years in federal prison.

It's now 1300 January 6th defendants. Now, maybe I missed it. Did Katie Britt mention even in a whisper? Because she did a lot of that. The lawfare campaign against Steve Bannon, Peter Navarro, James O'Keefe, Rudy Giuliani, Mark Meadows. Joe Biden declares war on half the country.

Democracy is what he calls it. It was littered with economic lies. We're not going to get into all that. You know, I watched some of the other cable news. We're now going to mention the 74 lies of Joe Biden. You guys don't need to hear that.

That is a waste of everybody's time. If you need to go hear some guy on cable TV and now let's play cut this one. And this is a lie from Joe Biden. This is a lie from Joe Biden.

No, no, no, no. The Republican response collectively was all like, well, you know, Joe Biden on the border. And I, by the way, I'm glad that we forced the issue for Joe Biden to say Lincoln Riley's name, even though he said Lincoln Riley, who's the coach of USC football.

But let's not forget the backdrop, the backdrop. If you actually read the speech, not just listen to the speech, read the speech. Joe Biden frames himself as a general, as an Eisenhower over the supreme allied forces. And it's you, the white rural rage folks that he seeks to obliterate. They raided Mar-a-Lago.

Donald Trump is facing federal charges in multiple venues. And we don't even get a mention of that in our rebuttal. We get a mention about, you know, kitchen table issues. That's fine. I'm all for that.

It's all good stuff. But in some ways, I feel as if the Republican response was yearning that we're still in the 1990s. We're talking about which tax rates are better for us. You have a president. Who's a usurper, by the way, who is not interested in persuasion, not interested in dialogue, not interested in winning people over.

Joe Biden did not go out of his way to try to convince Joe Biden and the people around him and the cabinet that was in front of him. From Lloyd Austin to Merrick Garland, all they're interested in is blunt force. We're in charge.

You're not. Our boot, your neck. He doesn't want to govern the country. Typically, a State of the Union address. Trump did this multiple times. He'll say to the Democrats, hey, let's work together. He said Joe Biden was taunting Republicans. And before anybody celebrates too much. Oh, he's going to be easy to beat in November.

No, he won't. They're going to package this and make him seem like a moderate. They're going to make this all about democracy. And they control the machinery and the intel agencies, the Federal Bureau of Investigation. You are living through a cold civil war. You have been for quite some time and only one side is fighting. The regime is on the march. Their leader. Their figurehead, their temporary puppet, Joe Biden, taunted the American right, basically said, what are you going to do about it? And our response was, well, Joe Biden makes me feel like we need a better leader. This is not the country we grew up in.

Maybe it's time we start to solidify an opposition party so that we can fight and defeat these people. OK, Kirk fans, I need you to stop and pay attention to this. If you deal with exhaustion, brain fog, mood swings or food cravings, you're constantly getting sick or simply lack the zeal used to have in life, then I have some news for you. Or visit StrongCell.com forward slash Charlie. Let's play some pieces of tape for those of you that had the great fortune of not seeing the speech last night. Here's Joe Biden. He opens a speech talking about FDR in 1941. If you didn't know better, you'd think that Joe Biden is ready to declare war. You don't just mention FDR in the year of Pearl Harbor without any sort of context. He looks at himself in this mold, in this form. Of course, Joe Biden went on to talk endlessly about Ukraine and condescendingly about the border.

Play cut 91. My fellow Americans, in January 1941, Franklin Roosevelt came to this chamber to speak to the nation. And he said, I address you at a moment unprecedented in history of the union. Hitler was on the march. War was raging in Europe. President Roosevelt's purpose was to wake up Congress and alert the American people that this was no ordinary time. Freedom and democracy were under assault in the world. Freedom and democracy were under assault in the world. He continues by saying, now it's we who face an unprecedented moment in the history of our nation. In this regard, Joe Biden is right. We have an entire regime that hates the country that they're tasked to govern. That is unprecedented.

I can't think in my lifetime that we've had. I mean, Obama didn't love the country, nor does he. However, but the people around, even in this particular government, they have no concern for our nation. In fact, they seem diabolically obsessed with ruining the greatest nation ever to exist in the history of the world.

Play cut 92. Tonight, I come to this same chamber to address the nation. Now it's we who face an unprecedented moment in the history of the union. And yes, my purpose tonight is to wake up the Congress and alert the American people that this is no ordinary moment either. Not since President Lincoln and the Civil War have freedom and democracy been under assault at home as they are today. What makes our moment rare is the freedom and democracy are under attack at both at home and overseas at the very same time. Right there. What a missed opportunity. At that moment, I understand, you know, the heckling and all that gets mixed reviews. But hold on a second. Freedom and democracy is under attack.

Everyone nods along. His government is the one that is indicting the opposition political leader and former president. What could be a greater threat to freedom and democracy than putting the candidate you don't like in leg irons and handcuffs? Oh, you know, our elections are under attack. You want to know what really is under attack when you try to kick them off the ballot, when you try to label half the room as insurrectionists. And when Katie Britt, again, maybe I missed it.

Did she lean in on any of this? Did we make the case to the American people that this is not normal? This is not.

And by the way, this is persuasive. As Donald Trump was indicted, he did better in the Republican primary and better in general election polling. Americans do not like the instruments of justice to be used for political purposes. It's against core American values.

It's a 60, 70, 80 percent winning issue. And the Democrats rationalize it because they think Trump is Hitler. Most Americans don't believe that.

In fact, the vast majority of Americans don't believe that Joe Biden could not even get himself to say Donald Trump. My predecessor, my predecessor, my predecessor play cut 96. Now, my predecessor, my predecessor and some of you here seek to bury the truth about January 6th. My predecessor came to office determined to see Roe v. Wade overturned. My predecessor failed the most basic presidential duty that he owes to American people. The past administrations, including my predecessor, well, my predecessor and many in this chamber want to take this prescription drug away by repealing a 14-year-old's prescription drug. Appealing Affordable Care Act. And if my predecessor is watching, instead of paying politics, unlike my predecessor on my first day in office, I introduced a comprehensive bill to fix our immigration system.

Take a look at it as all these and more. My predecessor told the NRA he's proud he did nothing on guns when he was president. He looks at himself as a general.

He refuses to say Trump's name and he says my predecessor. Under the names of DEI and ESG, the largest asset managers have been using your money, your savings to push politics into America's corporations. For years, they've implemented an agenda that is anti-American capitalism at your expense without your permission. There's an alternative at Strive. The Rana regime is out and we have new leadership at the RNC. And you guys deserve credit, this audience. You were relentless. You demanded better. And now we need to rebuild the RNC to be the best it's ever been because we need it.

And I'm going to make that argument. I'm telling you right now, Joe Biden's going to be tough. I'm one of the few people that say that. People say, oh, he's easy.

We can run over him. They control who counts the ballots. They have more money than they know what to do with. Joe Biden last night was slippery enough. So certain independent voters were hoodwinked. You know, 65 percent of Americans approved of Joe Biden's state of the union address last night.

Sixty five percent. They're going to run ads. They're going to make it all about abortion. This is going to be tight. It's going to be tight. So we need an RNC that is ready to win. I've said this the entire time, all these polls, Trump up eight, Trump up six, Trump up seven.

Throw all that away. We are the underdogs. They have the bureaucracies, the intel agencies, the tech companies, the billionaires. They have the support of the oligarchy.

They have thousands of full time people on the ground. Last night, however, highlighted two concerns that Joe Biden and his team has. Joe Biden himself doesn't have this. Number one, they're very worried about the state of Michigan. They're very worried about the state of Michigan.

And I have a couple of pieces of evidence to support this. Number one, Joe Biden was very careful how he talked about the Israel issue. Far more fanfare for Ukraine and for Sweden joining NATO. Why on earth we would put Sweden and NATO is beyond me, but that's that's a separate issue.

I'd love to get maybe J.D. Vance or Josh Hawley to talk about that. By the way, every single day we are breaking our promise, we say, oh, you know, NATO is not going to add new members, not going to expand eastward. Now we have Norway, Sweden and Finland in NATO bordering out against Russia. We have completely lied, as is the modus operandi of the American intel agencies. But the Israel thing, Joe Biden tap danced around because he's very worried about this uncommitted movement.

But there was another piece of evidence. One of the featured guests of the State of the Union was the head of the UAW, United Auto Workers. Joe Biden is Joe Biden knows the electoral math. In fact, he knows it better than the prior RNC regime. I guarantee you that if you would have sat Ronna McDaniel down, Ronna McRomney down back in November, no phones, I said, Ronna, tell me the electoral math, the three possible paths for Donald Trump to become president right now. Tell me. I don't know if she would be able to answer.

I do not know if she would be able to answer. I know the math. Blake knows the math. Andrew knows the math. Tyler knows the math. By the way, it's not hard.

You just go to 270win.com. Joe Biden and his team have known the math for quite some time. That's why they launched the preemptive strike, the preemptive salvo against Donald Trump. Joe Biden in some ways was surrendering Georgia last night. You know what was missing from the speech? Race politics. There was not a lot of the kind of BLM race politics that we're used to in an election year. It's almost none of it.

Unless I'm completely missing something. Where was the BLM? We're systemically racist. I think there might have been something about unjust sentencing. Was there there was something like that, some guy that was in jail or something for something?

I don't know. I think there was a little bit of that. It was far from the Democrat usual ad nauseam, heavy emphasis on abortion, heavy emphasis on women. Joe Biden was even talking about how we need a lower crime in this country and how crime is going down. In fact, that's Joe Biden signaling. We're kind of done with Georgia. They know it.

They see the numbers. We're going to take Georgia seriously. I feel good about the state of Georgia, presidentially. I feel good about North Carolina. In Arizona, Arizona is going to be tight. I think we're going to be okay there. And we're here right now.

We're doing a lot of work. Who knows? It's a 50-50 shot. It's a 50-50 shot. But Joe Biden and his team, they are cunning like serpents.

They are like vipers in the grass. They know what's up. They've run the math.

They've done their tallies. And they need to win one out of three of the Blue Wall, Wisconsin, Michigan or Pennsylvania. And the one that they feel the best about is Michigan.

Pennsylvania is probably a close second. They need to win. I'm sorry, Donald Trump has to win one out of three.

They have to win three out of three. Michigan, they're very worried. They're worried that if the pro Hamas group, which by the way, blockaded the presidential motorcade last night. How many of those guys are going to be put in a federal prison for blockading the presidential motorcade? Could you imagine if could you imagine if a bunch of Trump supporters blockaded the presidential motorcade? They would get 30 years in federal prison. I don't even know if any of them are going to be arrested. I mean, they might have been arrested on little felony stuff, but Joe Biden's going to be careful not to throw the entire book at them because he doesn't want to try to steer it up more. So Joe Biden highlighted the head of UAW. Oh, I love you, man.

We're the greatest friends ever. That's it. That is a direct play at McCone and Wayne County. That right there.

That is a telegram straight to Wayne County. Joe Biden spent a lot of time embracing Debbie Dingell. He knows what he's doing when he walks in.

He's puttering in. Probably said, hey, if you see Debbie Dingell, get on camera. She's very well liked. Her husband was a well liked politician from that part of the world, autoworker, muscular class, and they love Trump.

They love Trump there. Joe Biden knows he has a Michigan problem, a serious one. So Joe Biden tap danced on the Israel thing.

He highlights the UAW. But more broadly, Joe Biden has a Democrat base problem. He's an RFK problem.

He has a Cornell West problem. He is a Jill Stein problem. Remember, when Joe Biden became president in 2020, it was Trump v. Biden, no third party candidates. In 2016, when Trump defeated Hillary Clinton, it was Trump v. Clinton with five other candidates on the ballot. So Biden knows that whoever gets to forty two, forty three, forty four percent of the vote will likely become president. I'm going to make this prediction right here on The Charlie Kirk Show.

Write it down, bring it to the bank. The next president will likely win a plurality, not a majority in the key states. Let me say that again. The next president will likely win a plurality, not a majority of the vote in Arizona, Wisconsin, Georgia and Michigan. That speech last night was about shoring up the Democrat base. They have base decay and it's happening in real time on the Palestinian Muslim Gaza Hamas issue, the muscular class. They don't have a lot of base decay with the women issue. So Biden was not about trying to win over Republicans.

He couldn't care less. Breaking at Axios.com, RFK Junior nears major ballot wins in three battleground states. Now, we said previously, if you go back in the archives, we said, oh, RFK is going to hurt Trump more than Biden.

That has changed. That has changed, especially with younger voters. RFK getting on the ballot could be a death blow to Joe Biden. RFK can reinvigorate that old school Democrat energy, free speech, liberalism, still have some sort of a border. Axios.com, RFK Junior nears major ballot wins in three battleground states. Cleared the signature threshold in Nevada. He cleared the signature threshold. He qualified for the ballot in Utah.

That won't be a problem. He's also looking to get on the ballot in Arizona, Georgia, and closing in on Michigan. Joe Biden knows all this. So Joe Biden first is trying to consolidate the Democrat base. Last night was not about governing the country or bringing people together or consensus. Very few swing voters are moved by what they saw and foremost, he needed to get the excitement back in the Democrat base. Cut one or two, Joe Biden effectively threatened the U.S. Supreme Court. This is a way to invigorate his base.

Play cut one or two. And with all due respect, justices, women are not without electoral power. Excuse me, electoral or political power.

You're about to realize just how much you. I have been watching State of the Union addresses almost my entire life. I've never seen and Blake can correct me, a president call out the Supreme Court and effectively turn the mob against them. Has anyone seen that where you call out the Supreme Court and get people in Rancor?

I guess there was one other time it's happened. Maybe Obama did it before, but that was that was right in your face. Oh, Obama did it. OK. Saying, you know, you're going to feel the wrath of women.

Joe Biden knows that he has a base problem, he has a Michigan problem. It was not intent on convincing anybody, rallying the troops and stifling opposition. Use promo code Charlie for 10% off your order today. I had my hopes up. In fact, watch the State of the Union. It was, you know, time to go to bed. I was like, nope, I really want to see Katie Britt's response. And, you know, I was they said, oh, you know, she's going to be doing it from a kitchen table.

I said, OK, you know, I could win over suburban women and let's let's see how that works. And she's got a great story. She's 42. She's got school aged kids. She's obviously, you know, speaks for a lot of people in Alabama. And I want to cut Katie Britt some slack. It is not easy to do the rebuttal.

In fact, it's kind of cursed. If you do the rebuttal, it usually doesn't go well. Now, if I were to give you my personal opinion, I think that we got to totally change the way we do rebuttals.

In fact, other people have tried to do this in the past. And I think Gretchen Whitmer, some other people did this when Trump was president, where they tried to have a crowd. It's always just so.

The contrast is the president gives the speech and he gets tons of applause and it's just so quiet. The rebuttal, it's just very difficult. It's a tough it's a tough gig. And so with that being said, I had my hopes up. And then all of a sudden, Katie Britt starts doing this. I mean this as nicely as I can say this. It felt as if it was like a C list actress auditioning for a Netflix series.

She was bobbing all over the place and whispering. And it's fine. You're a senator. You're not an actress. I don't expect that out of you. But in my personal opinion, it completely missed the mark, leaning in and leaning out and fake crying and this and that. And then not to mention the content, you don't mention the lawfare at all.

So again, it might be a little bit unfair to just criticize people's delivery. She's still a new U.S. senator. I'm super glad she's in the Senate. She's probably going to have a great future ahead of her. She is much more in the Mitch McConnell wing. And I bet I bet for Trump's V.P., that's Mitch McConnell's choice.

She's very, very neoconservative, very pro Ukraine. That's fine. Whatever. And maybe I'm wrong. Maybe moms and suburban moms loved it. They loved the whispering. They loved the fact that it looked like she was on the home cooking network. Maybe that was great.

If that's if that's the case, then please email me freedom at Charlie Kirk dot com. And I understand that the response should not necessarily cater to the converted, but I could not help but feeling as if this was a chance to persuade the country on the biggest issue that is happening, which is the fact that now we have crossed the Rubicon and the incumbent power force can use lawfare to destroy opposition. I cannot emphasize enough. There is no going back from that. There is no going back from the fact and I again, someone should reread Katie Britt's speech. I don't want to speak out of turn. I don't. To her credit, she mentioned Lake and Riley. I don't like the way she mentioned it. But that's a separate issue. Let's play some of this here.

If you didn't hear it, let's play cut one on nine. This is the United States of America. And it is past time, in my opinion, that we start acting like it. President Biden's border policies are a disgrace. This crisis is despicable.

And the truth is, it is almost entirely preventable. So many people like that. Maybe people like the fake sigh and the kind of trembling. I find it to be insincere scripted. And that's just me again. If that wins over suburban women, terrific.

The team wants me to play a meme. I'm not going to do that. I want to cut her some slack. So who chose her is the question. Probably Mitch McConnell. She basically is a younger female version of Mitch McConnell in Alabama. And again, so maybe she'll improve as that goes on. So maybe she'll become more conservative. I don't know. And I look on paper, it seems like a great pick.

Young mom. Alabama looks looks like a good pick, and I think it missed the mark. I want your thoughts. Maybe you guys thought it was a home run.

Email us freedom at Charlie Kirk dot com. Not to mention the huge issue set that you just don't lean in on. And it's tough to give the rebuttal.

I mean, you got Marco Rubio sipping water. You got all sorts of weird stuff that happens in this. It's not easy. So we got to cut her some fake cut or some slack. But it just felt very fake.

Synthetic. But Mitch McConnell got what he wanted. He got his rebuttal. And so there you go.

There you go. Thanks so much for listening, everybody. Email us is always freedom at Charlie Kirk dot com. Thanks so much for listening and God bless. For more on many of these stories and news you can trust, go to CharlieKirk.com.
