Mao Zedong's version of Marxism is the single most murderous ideology in history, claiming more than 50 million Chinese lives. Now, according to Chinese exile Xi Van Fleet, this ideology is taking root in America — and she would know, as she lived through the Cultural Revolution in person. Xi joins Charlie to warn against the rise of "Mao's America."

Brought to you by the loan experts I trust, Andrew and Todd at Sierra Pacific Mortgage at andrewandtodd.com. We are going to have Xi Van Fleet join the program. She's really special. She warns about American Maoism. We're living through that. There are striking similarities between what Mao did in China and what the regime is doing here in America.

I think what Mao did is much closer than almost any other example, and still is. Remember, you are living through a cultural revolution. It has not stopped.

15 days to slow the spread. That was the beginning of the cultural revolution. Top down, not bottom up.

Forced, synthetic. Mike Pence takes the podium, and it wasn't Mike Pence's fault, necessarily. He was just the communique of the regime. At that point forward, we have not had anything close to serenity, peace, a détente, a ceasefire. No, it has been nonstop, at each other's throats, divided, demoralized. America has become a far weaker country since then. We are killing ourselves at much higher numbers. The suicide rates are up like you wouldn't believe.

The alcohol rates, the drug addiction, the hopelessness, the despair. From 15 days to slow the spread, in March of 2020, to now, Thanksgiving of 2023, Thanksgiving week of 2023, you've been living through a cultural color revolution. What started with COVID, then the 2020 election, then January 6, then back to COVID, then, well, I forgot, of course, race riots. How could I forget? BLM, laced in the middle of that.

So let me start all over. 15 days to slow the spread. BLM, race riots, Antifa, mostly peaceful. 2020 election, January 6, back to COVID. Indictments, going after Trump. Ukraine, going after Trump. Lawfare, it has not stopped.

They're trying to wear you down. And every single one of these chapters in the cultural revolution is about the Marxist playbook of turning one against one another. Oppressor versus oppressed, bourgeoisie versus proletariat, white versus black.

A very similar template is used. Mao was not about unity, yet Mao was instead about repressive tolerance. If you disagree, you will disappear. Mao incentivized children to turn in their parents. Mao had 10 different categories, five for the communists, five for the fascists, five and five. Free speech was not a value on Mao's China.

How could it be? There was a short period of time where Mao said, okay, you can speak out. And that ended rather quickly. A cultural revolution is rare, very rare. Mao famously said, let a thousand flowers bloom. Then people criticized him, and so it went away, a common left-wing tactic. Free speech is incompatible with totalitarianism. This is why they need to go after free speech on Twitter, go after Elon Musk on X, go after any semblance of people that speak freely. As long as you can criticize and you can appeal to people's reason and communicate to the millions of the masses, as long as you could do that, then there's hope. That's why the founding fathers knew that you needed to have an ability of the press, the ability to speak out, the ability to assemble. The Maoist playbook is to restrict any form of dissent, disagreement.

They'll call you a racist, a homophobe, a bigot, a transphobe. There are two ways of governing society. You can govern society using force or speech. You can govern society by giving people the opportunity. You can govern society using force or speech. It's that simple. Force or speech.

Maoist nations and one that we have been living through in the last three and a half years. Isn't that hard to believe it's been three and a half years? I remember exactly where I was when Mike Pence stepped up to the podium. 15 days to sow the spread, boom, ready, set, go. That was the Washington and Concord moment.

That was the shot heard around the world. Joining us now is Xi Van Fleet. Xi, welcome back to the program.

I hope you're doing well. I've been talking about American Maoism. As someone who knows Maoism very well, are you worried that America is becoming disturbingly Maoist? Yes, I have said in my book. Now what we're experiencing is Maoism with American characteristics.

Yes, no doubt about it. So tell us about it. Your book is Mao's America, a survivor's warning.

Build it out for us. Yes, what I did in the book is to lay out the parallels of the two cultural revolutions. One was Mao's cultural revolution that I lived through in China as a schoolgirl and that lasted 10 years.

That was pretty much my whole schooling. Now the American cultural revolution, I'm always also living through with millions of Americas. So they are of the same. They are all Marxist cultural revolution and they have the same goal. The goal is to destroy the traditional culture. And in America, in China, it was a Chinese civilization.

In America, it is American funding. And for what goal? Grab power. So tell us just more about your story and then some of the striking similarities that you've identified between Mao's China and here. There's so much to go into.

We have you for the full hour. So tell us more about your story. Yes, I grew up in Mao's China. When the cultural revolution started, I was in first grade. So I was too little to join the Red Guards. And I believe that if I were just four or five years older, I would be part of the Red Guards.

God knows I may just get killed in the process. But I was old enough to remember everything because I watched everything. Immediately after the cultural revolution was launched, school was closed.

Why? Because the school administrators, principals, and teachers were all outstored by the kids. In my case, elementary school kids outstored, so school was closed. And we had no school for two years.

In parts of China, it lasted for four years. So I was able to, because there's nothing to do, and my parents were involved with the cultural revolution in their workplace, I was able to go to the street and observe everything unfolding, which is chaos, absolute chaos, cancel culture of Red Guards, destroy everything that they identify as old and traditional and the struggle sessions of those who they denounced as enemies of the state. And that lasted about a year or so, and then it turned into total violence. And it was no longer safe to go out. And what the Red Guards did later, it's pretty much like a civil war. And so in the end, when the Red Guards accomplished what Mao wanted them to do, Mao really had to get rid of them.

He used the military to suppress, meaning killed a lot of them and send the rest to the countryside to get re-education by the peasants. Wow, there's so many striking similarities. Buy optimizers.com promo code Kirk 10. Mao's America, a survivor's warning and inspiring survivor of Mao's cultural revolution in China makes a passionate case that history is eerily repeating itself. So tell us about the psychology of Mao. Where did Mao learn totalitarian Marxism? What were his influences? Talk about the biography of Mao Zedong. Yeah, it is all from Russia.

Yes. The Marxism come to China around the same time that it came to America. And so it embraced by a group of and eventually elite students in Beijing University, the best university in China, they embraced the ideology.

And so this Communist Party, Chinese Communist Party was founded in 1921, two years after the Communist Party of USA, which was founded in 1919. And then they got support, absolutely support from Russia and from Soviet Union and also from Commuter, Communist International. And so from that on, they had a struggle with the nationalist and eventually they were able to defeat the nationalist. And in the process, America played a not so good a role.

And so that's something else. That's a long history. But anyway, so that's how communist took root in China. How could it, how could Mao and his communist fellow communists do that? They used the classic Marxist tactics. They promised the peasants, which consists of about 90% of the Chinese population, follow me. If you support my revolution, I'll get you free land. And that was how they got the support of the peasants.

And that's how they won the revolution. What motivated Mao in his story? He seems to be just a very hard to pinpoint person.

Does he remind you of anybody in America? I think to pinpoint to Mao is probably a mistake. It's a group of them. And Mao was a junior partner in the beginning, but it's the group of intellectuals.

And that I can pinpoint, that is in America today, we call it the white liberals. So they have a group of them that they believe in. At first, I would really think that they believe this is something that can save China from the oppression of the imperialism and the feudalism and capitalism.

That's what they believe. But eventually it become a power struggle and Mao became the dictator. Not after the 1994, which they took power. His power was solidified in Yan'an in the 30s and he become the dictator. So he become the face of Chinese communism, but he was just a face. And what really is this group of people who absolutely believe in Marxism.

Yeah. Having like this kind of cabal or a cartel, if you will, is really amazing. Talk about though, how misery creates the prerequisite for Marxism.

As China became destabilized, then a power vacuum occurred, which allowed Mao and his group of gangsters to take over. Talk about that. I think it connects to where America is headed. Yes, it is again, the promise, the promise of something better, the promise of something tangible, free land. And so that's how they really won the revolution. That's the first stage. That is the classic Marxist revolution, use of violence to overthrow a sitting government, which is the nationalist government, which is now in Taiwan. And that's part one of the revolution.

This succeeded. And then Mao launched the Cultural Revolution that started in 1966, 1966, and lasted 10 years until his death. That is a Cultural Revolution.

It's different, but it's the same thing. It is to overthrow a government, a sitting government. What is that? That's his own government. That is the CCP.

Why? That is the story. Power. He feel like he was losing power over his own party, over his own government. And he has overthrew it. This time, he did not need to use the military. He has a better army. Those are the tens of millions of young indoctrinated students from elementary school to universities.

Those were his army, the Red Guards. Are you tired of progressive companies and exhausted at trying to keep up with all the virtue signaling when you're simply just trying to buy products? Progressive corporate America continues to push messaging that further alienates conservative Americans, all while eroding the future of the American dream. It's prominent all over the country.

Retailers like Target are selling chest binders and tuck friendly bathing suits. It's disgusting. Starbucks is strong, arming their customers to support abortion. The Starbucks Workers Union is on the side of Hamas.

Financial services like PayPal are canceling customers for their political views. Thankfully, we don't have to fund these companies any longer with Public Square. We have a solution founded by Michael Siefert, an amazing company. I think so highly of them.

We do a lot of work together. Join the movement of millions of patriotic Americans who love truth, our country and our constitution at public askew MOB slash Charlie Kirk. That's public askew MOB slash Charlie Kirk. Check it out today. The book is very important. Is Mao's America a survivor's warning? So she talked more about the Red Guard. Who was involved in the Red Guard? Who was the rank and file of the Red Guard? It was mostly students, wasn't it?

Yes, absolutely. They started in the most elite high school, middle school in Beijing. And those were the the most privileged kids. They all from and their parents were the ones that would belong to the ruling class. So they were the ones that started and this idea of being Red Guards. And then they got this name and pretty soon it become viral and everyone adapted that name. So it started in middle school, not even in university and and immediately as the code on fire and all over the country and the kids just call them Red Guards. It's not really well organized. All you need to do is put a badge over your arm and you have all the power.

Why? Because Mao openly supported them and Mao also gave them all the power because he dismantled the criminal justice system. It is Mao's version of defund the police. The police were told they could not go to campuses and that's where the violence took place initially. And they were told if the Red Guards hit you, you are not allowed to hit back. So with that little badge over their arms, they had all the power, the power to destroy, the power to abuse, the power eventually to kill. And the first killing took place is in by the Red Guards was in Beijing's another girls, very prestigious girls middle school.

The group of girls as young as 12, as old as 16, beat and abused and tortured and eventually killed their assistant principal. After that, no consequence, no consequence, eventually killing become the common praise. There's this very famous picture of thousands of Red Guard members with the badge and they're holding up the Little Red Book. What is the Little Red Book, Xi? Yeah, the Little Red Book is a little book with all sorts of out of context of Mao's quotes. That's all.

It's quotes from different speeches or different writings. And so that was our Bible. And everyone had a copy.

And so me too. In my family, we have several copies. In a time when all books are burned and banned and there's nothing to read, every household had multiple copies of Mao's Little Red Book. And that really was our Bible.

It was your Bible. So who actually composed it? Was Mao and his gangsters?

Did they put it together? Lin Biao. He is a handpicked successor. Later you know the story that he had wanted to stage a coup, but it failed and he escaped to Russia, but his plane was shut down by the CCP. So there's the story. So let me ask you, there's a picture here and it just kind of came to me. So there's a famous, another famous picture of Mao surrounded by the Red Guard members with the book. Are some of the Red Guard members now running the CCP in China?

Absolutely. And a lot of them killers, I mean killers, are in the United States enjoying their American dream. And yet their victims were just nothing, nothing.

They just died in vain. That is a problem. That is a problem because the atrocity in the Cultural Revolution was never, never addressed.

Just let go, forget. And today, if you ask the young kids, none of them know anything about Cultural Revolution. If they know anything, they were taught that was an anti-corruption movement. And they know nothing about the Tiananmen Square massacre, by the way.

No, of course not. So there were five black categories. Landlords, rich farmers, counter-revolutionaries, bad influencers, and right-wingers was one of them. That sounds like America. Yes, and the lefties are called revolutionary lefty masses, and the righties are the enemy of the state.

And so that was in the righty, yeah. To think to be a white winner is to be the enemy of the state and punishable by imprisonment and death. And how many people do you think were killed in the Cultural Revolution, or at least in the famous purge of Red August? The Red August in Beijing alone, the number, the official number was 1,700. And that is Beijing alone.

And that is the official number. So people, there's all sorts of numbers, but a lot of estimated up to 20 million died during the Cultural Revolution. And not everyone was killed by the Red Guards.

The Red Guards later started to kill themselves. So it is absolutely out of control. Here's the thing. Mao thought he can launch this chaos, grab the power, and then he can just quit and everybody go home.

But of course, it's not the case. It's out of control. Out of control so much that it becomes pretty much like a civil war. And that's what's happening here, happening here in America.

The left thought they can control the woke movement, but right now we can see that's out of control. Walk us through some of the details of what a struggle session was. Yeah. Struggle session is basically denouncement of someone and it's a public. It cannot be just denounce someone in paper and then or in words.

No, it has to be a public trial. But a struggle session is more than that. Struggle session is a way of life for us and it's called criticism and self-criticism.

As a kid, I went through the milder form of a struggle session, which was a group of kids in a classroom. We will read something from Mao's little red book and we will start to denounce ourselves by comparing what we have been doing, not match up to what Mao want us to do. And so we criticize ourselves and the other people join in and criticize yourself and then we'll go around and around. So you're denouncing other people, you're denouncing yourself. And that has been really a way of life. And during the Cultural Revolution, that was, of course, a bigger, more intensified struggle session, self-criticism and criticism. That is, put someone on stage, someone being denounced and everyone join in and denounce this person. And that is the beginning. Eventually, they start to abuse those people and there's many, many killed right on the spot.

What do you see in America that is eerily similar to struggle sessions from Mao's China? That's DEI training. That is the criticism and the self-criticism.

That is exactly what it is. And then people were asked, my neighbor told me that in her workplace, they were taught to really go inward and find out the moment, even if it's just a flashing thought that you can consider racist. That's exactly what we did. We have to go inward and find every thought that was not correct. And then we have to criticize it. We have to share with the group and then the group join in and criticize it.

That is DEI training is struggle session. And as someone who lived through it, you must just be so irritated, upset, yet motivated to try to educate Americans that they're bringing this evil and toxic ideology to the states. Yeah, it was heartbreaking, heartbreaking for me to see such nonsense, such just evil nonsense were being accepted, embraced by people.

Why? Because communism, Marxism is also deceptive. It always tell you the goal of what they do is to help, to help and to bring about justice and to help the so-called marginalized oppressed people. And that's why there are so many Americans know nothing about the history of communism, know nothing about the Chinese cultural revolution, they're full for it. And that's why I feel so passionate to educate the Americans that this is the history repeating. Once you know what, that the same thing has been happening in communist countries, especially in China, you can recognize it, but people can't recognize it because they don't know history.

They don't know history because it's by design. Christmas is here, everybody. And that means that you might have to be moving boxes or just it's tough, a lot of stress. Go to relieffactor.com. Gee, I want to ask you, and of course your book is amazing, Mao's America, how do we beat these communists? You grew up in it.

You're seeing them grow in power here in the West. How do we beat the commies? I think the first thing is to understand it. And the first thing is to really know what communism is all about and what a Marxist culture revolution is all about.

That is to learn history. And my book helps you with that, helps Americans to understand what it is that a cultural revolution is and what it does and what is the goal. So that's the first step. If you don't understand, as you always say, if you don't understand something, you cannot fight against it. So the first thing is understanding and then expose it and use your circle of influence and help people to understand it.

And if you read the book, share it. And then the next is you have got involved. You can't just sit there and being a culture activist.

You have to get involved. I have to say, I have been really not participating in the political process because coming here, I thought I left the communism behind me and I will be live happily ever after in America. But it took me a long time to understand that the freedom that we enjoy is only one generation away from the superior.

It takes every one of us to stand up and defend it. That's when I started to get involved and participate in the political process after seeing the full blowing Marxist revolution in 2020. And I got involved with the local Republican committee and other Republican organizations. That's how I got to go to the school board. And that's how I got involved and then found myself by accident on the national spotlight. And the and but now I take it as my mission to educate Americans.

I love that. And you're kind of leading me to something. The first I mean, there's a lot of issues that we can vote on and discuss, but your first vote should be an anti-communist vote, shouldn't it? I mean, that should be the first. Absolutely. Can you talk about that?

All this other stuff, abortion, like we have opinions on it. How about let's combine the decent Americans to have a largest anti-communist voting bloc in the history of the country? Yes. Right now, I my audience are mostly conservatives and people say you should go to the other side. Yes, I would.

I would. But I think it is important that the conservatives understand the issue. Many, many of them do not do not understand. They still treat the left as the old left.

They just gone crazy. No, they become communists. So I think it's not enough to be a conservative. It is utmost important to call yourself anti-communist.

And how do you do that? First of all, you have to understand what communism is all about. What we are experiencing right now is no less than a complete communist takeover of America. They are close, aren't they, Jay-Z? I mean, just the final thought. I mean, how close are they to finishing the cultural revolution similar to Mao? It's very close.

Why? Because we can see generations of young people and middle middle aged people already have adopted this world view that that view is Marxism. They see everything through the lens of oppressor and oppressed. That's their how they decide who is the victim and who is the enemy. And then they just don't need to think anymore.

And that's what we are dealing with. People no longer think. Those people that we see on the streets, BMM, and transgender ideology, and then now Hamas, they don't think. They just react because they no longer can think.

They have that lens over them. So our battle is to deprogram them seriously, deprogram, just like Hillary Clinton said. We have deprogrammed them so that we teach them the American values. That's how we're going to win the war.

That's right. Jeevan Fleet, your book is so important. Everyone check it out right now.

Thanks so much for listening and God bless. Based on my chromosomes, when I grow up, I want to be offended by my coworkers and walk around the office on eggshells and have my words policed by HR. Words like grandfather, peanut gallery, long time no see, no can do. When I grow up, I want to be obsessed with emotional safety and do workplace sensitivity training all day long.
