And we do welcome you to the CNC Auto Show. We have an exciting show today. I'm here with co-host Jamie Bridges. Jamie, are we ready? We're ready.
Yeah, always great to have you as co-hosts. Yes, which is often, and I love it. Good. We appreciate it. We're live at another coffee and cards event.
This is starting to be something regular, huh? It is. It is. It doesn't seem like it's been a whole month since the last one.
Well, what I like about it is we're out of the studio, which we love doing shows in the studio because it's. Comfort control. Yeah. And it's a, everything's very familiar, but it is hard to turn down having a chance to be around all of these beautiful cars. You can hear the engines revering up over there now.
Coffee and cars always scares me just a little bit. They give us start time, and we have the show. Uh, all set up and ready, and hardly any cars is there. And then, all of a sudden, boom, the parking lot just fills up, and they are steadily pulling in right now. We're seeing Cobras and 66 Chevy Impalas and Novas and Corvettes and rat rods and trucks.
Yeah, there's a little bit of everything. That's the nice thing about coffee and cars: there is a little bit of everything. It's new, it's old, it's classic. import or domestic, it doesn't matter. It's there's a little bit of everything.
Yeah, and there's no real rules. I mean, you can come. If you want to stay for a few minutes to leave, you can. If you want to stay for the entire time, you can. And you can talk to whoever you want to talk to.
If you see a car you like, you can talk to the person that drives it. It's just a chance for everybody to be together.
So those in this area, we're actually here in Augusta, Georgia. If you're near this area, come on to the Coffee and Cars. It'll last for a few hours. But if you're somewhere else, just catch a coffee and car somewhere because they're really good. Or a car show.
Car shows are a lot of fun, a lot of good family entertainment. And it's almost like a chance to look at history. You're looking at automotive history, which is part of, in a huge part, of American history. There goes a 65 Mustang. I believe that was 65.
But I just enjoy looking at all these different type cars.
Now, also, if you're not near this show, we can bring the show to you. We can do it by radio, of course. You can listen to your favorite radio station and listen to the. Coffee CNC Auto Show at the Coffee and Cars event. Or you can go to facebook.com forward slash CC Auto Show.
And you can watch us live and you can see the cars pulling in. And if you would have looked at the same picture, probably what, 30 minutes ago, it would have been almost empty. That's a scary thing. You only have three cars behind you. Yeah, but now, boom, it's already starting to get very, very busy.
So just do one of the two. Watch listen to us on one of the three. Listen to us on radio, Facebook, or come on by, one of the two. And we will throw a tech tip quiz out there for those. Oh, and I mentioned you can also join the show.
You can do that by dialing 800-224-9090. And Jebby, what I'd like to do, we have not been good. We have neglected a lot of callers because there's been times we'll be doing an interview and we will have calls lined up and We hadn't been answering the phone when we're doing these longer interviews. Yeah. Today, callers will get full priority.
How's that? There you go. Yeah. So when Jamie sees calls, we're going to grab them. We're going to answer those questions.
Those that we don't answer, a large portion of them have left messages. And on those messages, we have answered them either on air or called the person or sent them an email. I can't promise you we hit them all, but we do hit a large portion of them. But if you leave a message on our recording, we'll answer it here. And we'll answer some of those that we got during the week on the air today.
So, give us a call 800-224-9090. And, Jamie, what are your thoughts on us jumping into a TED TIP quiz? You think we should? Yeah, let's go. I think it'd be a good idea.
All right, here we'll go. And it's a true story. Uh but the names have been changed. The names of the oh, what in the world is that? Yeah, old Honda.
All right. The names have been changed of the people and the cars to protect the innocent.
Okay, here we go. Jacob owns a 2021 Silverado. He was parked next to a large tree at work and a big storm hit. A large limb broke on the tree and fell to the ground. It missed the truck by exactly four inches.
But It did over $2,000 worth of damage to the truck. How did that happen? If somebody's got the answer to today's tech tip quiz, you could win a CNC auto show. Prize package, which includes a water bottle. Oh, and if it's somebody here at the event.
We'll give them the water bottle right now because we have them. Instantaneous, no wait. And we'll give them a CNC Auto Show hat. How's that? There you go.
A hat and a water bottle. They'll be fixed up. Prepared for anything. Sunny days. Fantastic.
Okay, let's move on. I mentioned before we're at Coffee Cars Vet. And give us a call, 800-224-9090. And It's time to talk about something that hit the market. recently that there's been a lot of talk about.
And that's the new Corvette. Yes. Yeah, that thing is, uh, it looks awesome. I have not driven one. Uh, I have uh I have seen mostly pictures of them, uh, but it's uh the 2025 Corvette ZR1.
It has One thousand. sixty four horsepower.
So what are you? I printed that wrong. Oh, I've seen the paper say too. Or somebody printed it wrong, but I do know. See, that's what I do.
I know. I was about to be extra impressed at 2,000 horsepower. No, it's 1,064 horsepower. And that's at 7,000 RPMs. That's still in the middle.
We got a train going by. We're going to have to get. See, that's the... Tricky part on live remotes also. We don't have that in the studio.
A train doesn't come by the by the the table when we're in the studio. you know, but at least I'm not stuck in traffic waiting for the stupid thing to go past. They cut every time I come downtown, I get stopped by a train. I thought he was going to troop the horn one more time. They normally do, but I guess that's it.
Okay. 1,064 horsepower at 7,000 RPMs. Eight hundred and twenty. 28 foot pounds of torque. At six thousand.
RPMs. And that's using a LT 5.5 dual overhead cam V8 engine. And it has an H spe dual clutch transmission being compared to being launched off an aircraft carrier. The video that I watched showed a person getting up to, he was like at 205 miles an hour. And it looked smooth as silk inside the vehicle to me.
I mean, the guy looked relaxed. He was talking. Uh as he was going 205 miles an hour. Uh-uh. It's truly a beautiful car.
Yeah, that's impressive. Yeah, I think that's going to be some pretty nice things.
Okay, now I mentioned before that we were going to answer some automotive questions, that we had got some. Uh Calls about, and this actually comes from a listener, a long-time listener, and he's over the years become a great friend. He calls from time to time, not real often, from Florida. A good friend, longtime listener, he called me the other day with a card question. He lives in Florida.
He was looking for a Honda Odyssey. And in short, what he said, he's finding a lot of them. Online that he can get at a very, very good price with a salvage that's got a salvage title on it. Yeah. I don't I don't know what the salvage laws or to get a a t salvage title looks like in Florida, but in Georgia it's uh it's more trouble, I think, than it's really worth any more trying to get a salvage title here.
That's exactly what I told him. And not to mention, you might end up with a car that might have some major problems. If it was damaged and. A light repair done on the vehicle. That's one thing, but you don't ever know it might have been salvaged because it was underwater or something big happened.
But either way, unless you know what you're doing. Uh it's difficult to get that title. Difficult to get any kind of clean title, and sometimes it can be very difficult to get insurance or a tag for the vehicle. When it's got that. Yes, I mean, I did that one time.
I bought a vehicle and I went and I went through the process and I had the inspection and I got a salvage title, and it's been close to 10 years ago. The laws have changed since I did that. But what I went through 10 years ago, I wouldn't do that again, much less do it now.
So you still remember it after 10 years? I'll probably never forget it. It took me half a year to. Get that title. All right, we don't need to pull over for a quick break, but we will be back.
And when we return, we'll tell you the difference between ADIS and AV cars. All right. All right, we'll be right back. Duralast auto parts are designed to help you get the job done right. Duralast parts are manufactured and rigorously tested to meet or exceed original equipment quality, and they cover over 90% of the cars on the road today.
See the DuralAS difference today, exclusively at AutoSone. Whoever needed We are back with you with the CNC Auto Show. We're live at Coffee and Cars, and we have co-host Jamie Bridges here. And we are having a great time just looking at cars, talking about cars. A few minutes ago, I walked over there and looked at a red Ferrari, beautiful vehicle.
I guess behind it is looks like about a 64, 65 GTO and There's even a Vega over there. I see it. Yeah. And I love seeing cars like that. You don't see that many.
of the Vegas and you don't see that many of the Pacers. And to me The Cash for clunkers many years ago, that was a travesty. It wiped out a lot of our automotive history because there's so many cars that could have been brought back to life that we could look at today and say, oh, that's beautiful. Like, even though it wasn't America's finest hour with cars, the Vega over there is really fun to look at. And something like the Pacer, I love looking at those.
And again, that wasn't our best work by no means, but it's history. And it would have been great to have more of those that we could look at and see. They're not driven very much, so they don't really have a true effect on the air quality or anything like that. But they are something that you can look at and really enjoy.
Now, When we um When we went to the last break, we talked a little bit about discussing the difference between an ADIS car. And uh A V's. And of course, the ADIS is Advanced Driver Assistant Systems. Such a super cruise. I mean, you're going down the road and you can kind of have your hands off the wheel.
And it it it'll it'll uh monitor the vehicles in front of you and Be able to keep your speed where you want it. If you start to move off the road a little bit to pull it back on, I love that feature. When I'm on trips, I normally cut most of that off when I'm in. At certain times, if I'm in certain traffic or around town, stuff like that, I don't really enjoy it. But it is good to have.
I think it can be very helpful because you tend to. uh look in other directions and I mean if it pulls you back on the road that can be a good thing. Yeah, now if if you're not used to it is a a strange feeling to have the car break for you.
Somebody cuts you off. That is a It is pretty strange, but it's a great concept. Yeah, it is. And I use that feature from time to time, and it is helpful. But also, I think there's a lot more involved in it.
I mean, and a lot of vehicles have the automatic braking where if something pulls out in front of you, which, by the way, we'll discuss at a later date, but that's going to be mandatory on vehicles. They have to be able to stop for an object when they're going up to 62 miles an hour and stop for a pedestrian when they're going up to 45 miles an hour, but that's going to be all mandatory. But as far as the AV cars, they're full autonomous. I mean, you're able to punch in where you're going and you don't have to. Be tentative or have your hands near the wheel in order to take over.
And that is something that's coming. And and I've I told I told you and And the producers, how I feel about all the full AV stuff, though. I mean, because all the full electric. I'm sorry, the full AV. Kind of on board with as long as I got a steering wheel I can grab if I need it.
But as far as full electric, I mean, we have a full electric trailer. I mean, it's supposed to be ready to go. It was charged up. Our whole transmitting trailer, it's even solar energy on top. Our transmitting trailer that we have has solar energy and it's got batteries that will stay charged.
Uh everything's everything's great.
So we pull it out here. I pull it out here this morning. I have the trailer. I start to cut it on and nothing's happening. It's dead And so, what do we have to do?
What had happened? A light was left on, and a switch was left on. Batteries dead.
So, we have to go get. A gas generator that we had at a different area. and bring it here. And hook the gas generator up, and that's what I'm trying to say. I got a feeling that so many people that depend on full electric sooner or later have to also depend on something gas, just my Just my thoughts.
The solar and the battery banks did good last year.
So I think part of that was. Operator error. But you know. It's uh it's it's getting better, but no, I I still think Slug more into a hybrid format. Than just electric.
Well, I think there's something to be said for both. Yes, which is hybrid. You're in hybrid mode right now. Yeah, we are in hybrid mode. That is true.
Okay, we're going to read our tech tip quiz one more time. And again, this is a true story, but the names were changed. The Uh Jacob owns a 2021 Silverado. he parked next to a large tree and a big storm come up. A large limb broke off of that tree and fell.
But it missed the truck by four inches. But It did $2,000 worth of damage. How could it miss the truck by four inches but do $2,000 worth of damage? If somebody knows the answer to today's Tech Tip quiz, you give us a call and that number is 800-224-9090. And we are uh We we'll mention one other thing before we uh Before we go to the break, it seems that Oregon and Utah are leading the way in this.
charging tax and it's known as a vehicle miles tax. Vehicle miles driven tax.
So And it's there mostly for vehicles because a lot of vehicles. are getting such great gas mileage, which is what they want them to do. That they're not paying enough tax on the gas because they're not buying as much tax.
So now they're coming out with this deal in many states, and others will no doubt follow, to where. They'll monitor the amount of miles the vehicle is driven and you'll pay a tax on how much you drive the vehicle. Uh yeah I guess you can't really uh fudge that one if uh if you didn't want to pay as much in the taxes since you're the car is gonna tell on itself anyway.
Well, more states will follow.
Okay, we need to pull over just for a little bit, and the cars are starting to pile in. This road's getting full. IROCs, Camaros just pulled in. A lot of beautiful cars. And we'll look at more as soon as we return with the CNC Auto Show.
The CNC Auto Show is brought to you in part by Motorad, a longtime OE supplier offering innovative thermal and engine management solutions for nearly every ICE, hybrid, and EV vehicle on the road. Find Motorad products at most parts stores or learn more at motorad.com. And we are back with you at the CNC Auto Show. I'm here at Coffee and Cars with co-host Jamie Bridges. We're having a great time looking at all the cars.
We are. Yeah. We are more and more coming in. Yeah, I see a MG over there. We had a Lincoln over there that was kind of bouncing up and down the front end.
We got one of the guys at work that does that. He builds cars like that just for fun. And he's got several different vehicles. And they have the little tires on the front and they you can push a button and they'll lift up real high and go down and all that other stuff. Those are always neat, especially 'cause you don't see a lot of that around here.
You don't, yeah. And there's a little MG over there. You don't see those. A barracuda is sitting there. Just a lot of neat stuff.
Okay, we did get an answer to. to our Tech Tip quiz. This one came in on a text. Uh it says the sap off the tree got on the paint for the limb. Before the limb fell off and damaged the clear coat on the car, clear coat on the car.
Or the storm had hail in it. Wow. Bouncing around it a little bit. That's not it. Covered all his bases.
Let me ask our producer if we got an ah button. Yeah, let's see here. Thank you very much. Nooooooo. Thank you very much.
What we run into is when we're doing the show and we're on remote, I don't have control over the crowd. That says yes or no. And so we have to give hand signals. Those are good answers. There we go.
There we go. Those are good answers, though. I thought. It was very good answers. As a matter of fact, it's really kind of touching around it just a little bit.
It's just not the answer, though.
So we appreciate you calling in and appreciate you giving it a good shot there because we need it.
Okay, now before we. We didn't get a chance to finish the conversation on vehicle miles driven. Do you think that's a good thing to use that as a way to tax vehicles? I mean, I guess it's kind of a double edged sword because you want Well, somebody wants to push the E V.
So seemingly if you were gonna tax them That would be less incentive to go buy one. But then at the same time, you have to maintain your infrastructure. But is that the right way to go about it? It's the text, the models-driven. Buy EVs.
That's a good answer. Yeah, I mean, it's, you know, where is the incentive? Which direction do you want to go in? I guess that's kind of what you have to pick and choose your battle. Pick something and run with it, not just whop all over the place.
Yeah. And what can happen, what they're trying to do is increase. The um The emission levels overall over the whole fleet of vehicles that a manufacturer might sell. And of course, when they increase it up that certain amount, that manufacturer has to sell. Enough.
EVs to offset selling some of the F-150s or Silverados or Dodge Rams. We're seeing it on the heavy diesels. Yeah, you have to sell a certain amount of those, even if it's at a loss sometime in order to have room to be able to sell those other vehicles that you're going to make a lot of money on. Yeah, I mean it's Uh Times are changing. Yeah, well, I think that there's a lot of things in that situation that's not absolutely perfect.
You know, this is kind of fun. What is that? A 50. Oh, that one hadn't even been restored yet. That's like a 55.
Five Chevy, if I'm not mistaken. And we have a MG that has been restored. That's a beautiful vehicle now coming through here. Those are neat.
Well, that's one of the cars I had when I was uh I guess a teenager. Yeah, I was. Uh a little MG Midget, a 1976 MG Midget. It had 30,000 miles when I bought it. Uh I had a great time with that car.
I mean, I was running up and down Daytona Beach. You could drive on the beach, and I just had a. Great time. Speakers in the back, Stevie next playing on the radio. That was pretty awesome.
Yeah, that was. I've have a soft spot for little tiny cars anyway. Yeah, yeah.
Well, I I always have. And and of course, uh I've mentioned on the radio before that I did sell the Z three uh because of some things where I was going to need a truck for. I did buy a beautiful truck. It's one of the most awesome trucks I ever had. It's a GMC Canyon, and it's a 2017.
And that Joker gets, well, we rode in it. We talked about it last time. 29 miles to the gallon, beautiful truck. But I missed my Z3. I will get another sports car as soon as I'm able to get over this needing a truck to drive everywhere.
Looks like we've got a call coming in. Why don't you grab that one? What? Looks like looks like Lonnie.
Alright, let's do it. Go ahead. Hey, hey, Lonnie. Yep, I'd like to answer the technical quiz. Oh, we're going to need to put you on stage.
Hold on. Mm-hmm. You're on stage, true story. Names were changed. Jacob owns 21 Silverado.
He parked it next to a large tree at work. The wind and a storm come up and boom, a tree limb fell. But it missed it by four inches. But did $2,000 worth of damage to the truck? What in the world happened?
All eyes are on you.
Okay, I believe that limb pulled down a power wire. and that power wire took out the ECU. That ECU is not cheap. Wow. It's a clever answer.
Yeah, it is. Yeah, he's all around it, too. I mean, all around it. Oh, good gracious. This is going to hurt to do this.
I mean, it really is. You're so close. Oh, no. Yeah, you are in there, Lonnie. You're really, really, really close.
And we do appreciate you giving us a call. My uh my second answer I could give it. Absolutely.
Okay, well four inches off that truck is a mirror.
Okay, I don't think those mirrors cost that much, but it sure would knock off that mirror at four inches. Yeah, that that is true. You know, I at four inches, it does stick out about four inches. Missed a truck, but hit the mirror. But again, I I now mirrors on today's cars.
I got a feeling you would be hitting close to that. If it's a de heated power mirror and it shorts something out.
Well, not to mention the ADIS or the blind spot indicator in the mirror. You have that. Many of the mirrors don't come painted.
Sometimes you have to go get them painted to the color. You'd push close to that, but no, that's not the answer. But that was a good try, too.
Okay. What? Two shots and two strikes.
Okay, well, that's it.
Well, you can definitely stay, and hopefully, I can stop by and see the cars. Thank you very much. We'd love it. All right. Always great to get a call there and That was a Corvette of I guess 72, 73, I don't know.
You know, I had a uh I was talking to a customer, this was a few months ago. And um He had a trailer. with a bobcat or some small piece of equipment hooked up to the back of his truck, storm blew up. Lightning hit the trailer. And wiped out all the electronics in the truck.
Wow. So that's there a chance that that's a hit? You know what? I don't know what the answer is either. Tell me what the tech tip answers are.
So I'm just as flabbergasted and dumbstruck as you are.
So you did not know the answer, but you said that.
Okay, maybe it's a hint, maybe not. If it was, it was an unintentional hit. Unintentional hit. A hint to somebody.
Okay, well, we'll go with that. That's a good thing.
Okay, we'll read a quick email on that one then. That come in. Jill has a 2010 F-150. She said it stalls out in traffic at traffic lights from time to time. Said it don't do it often, but it does do it.
It has 94,000 miles, and it's been a great truck. This is the first problem she's had with it. What could be wrong? And she was asking for just ideas on what could be going on on there. And Jill, the main thing that I would love to know would be the maintenance history on that vehicle.
Because 95,000 miles is when a lot of things have either past due that should have been done or overdue. And so I don't know what's been done and what hadn't been done. But I will tell you that. Induction service, the throttle body gets restricted on those vehicles. Carbon builds up around the throttle body, and we normally get that out with an induction service, a BG induction service what we use.
And it makes the vehicle just run that much better. It gets the carbon out of the top of the pistons, top of the valves, cleans the O2 sensor.
So it's a great service to get on the vehicle. And probably that should have been done about twice by now. But at 95,000 miles, also, you're coming up on the maintenance tued up.
So you're probably going to be coming due on that. But also, now this is not related to the cutting off part. Cutting off parts, most likely it's in need of an induction service. The part have the other things that are coming due: transmission fluid exchange. You have the you want to make sure that the oil's been changed on a really regular basis.
You want to make sure that the rear differential fluid's been changed. Just have all that checked. If it's four-wheel drive, you want to do transfer case, all that. But I think that what you've got is normal maintenance history. And if you do the normal maintenance history, And it solves the problem, that's good.
If it don't, then you can have some test runs. We'll be right back with more of the CNC Auto Show. The CNC Auto Show is brought to you in part by Dorman Products and their OE Fix Intake Manifold. Featuring thicker material and extra bearings, this Dorman OE Fix Intake Manifold has been completely re-engineered for greater durability. Drive to DormanProducts.com for more information.
So That is so 65 I was 17. But I don't know where my mother left my brother. And we are back with you with the CNC Auto Show. We are live downtown. At the downtown Augusta at the coffee and cars event.
And this is what I like about being out. I love doing the show in the studio, like I mentioned, but I also love being out here with people because just during the break, a gentleman walked by, very nice. Oh, I should have got his name. Yeah. Very nice gentleman, but he said he listens to the show all the time.
He loves listening to the show. Wanted to offer a little criticism, which I love criticism. I want to say. Thank you to him for that. He said that I didn't mention where this coffee and cars event was.
And I thought that was awesome. He's absolutely right. We are located in Augusta, Georgia, at the Judicial Center. Yes. Now, that's if you're listening Saturday morning, 8 to 10 Eastern time, here that's where we're located doing the live show.
Now, if you're listening from somewhere else, you can find a car show near you or a coffee and cars. That's a beautiful car. Coffee and cars event. near you and oh he's gonna park nearby that's great You can get a coffee and cars event near you and attend it. But if you can't, we'll bring the show to you.
That's right. You can watch the car, you can see the cars going by. And I mean, we have an absolute parking lot full of vehicles out here.
So we'll be still having a lot of fun. And, Jamie, we laid the Tech Tip quiz out on the table. And you gave a very strong hint. Oh, accidentally. Yeah, a very strong.
You almost. Um Let the cat out of the bag. And probably the cat was shocked. That might be another hit. I don't know.
Okay. And poor cat. Yeah, poor cat. Poor cat was shocked.
Okay, I promised that I would read a lot of the messages that we get on air so that we can answer these. And I'm doing a better job of even answering the ones that don't go on air. Shelly says they're 2019 Kia Forte. It's been cutting off and not starting back. It's like everything's dead when she tries to start it back up.
And she was looking for an answer of what may be going on in it. And. With something like that, with everything being dead. the most common place is right there at the battery.
So, Shelly, without question, I would recommend going ahead and having the battery check first. Find out if the battery is good or bad, and then run either check for looseness in different areas. Or run a voltage drop test. There is a test to find out if there is a bad connection in that system somewhere.
So if you're talking to your automotive technician, Let them know that you feel like it needs a battery voltage or just a voltage drop test. Performed on the vehicle. And if you do that, there's not much doubt in my mind that something's going to show up when you do that. And if you open the hood and your battery terminals are all crusty. This is your friendly reminder, please.
Or Coca-Cola all over the top of your battery. Yeah, yeah, not good.
Somebody's got to touch it to get it all out. People. Yes. But also, if that battery, what year did I say that was 2010? Uh, 2019, okay.
Well, you're talking about a 2019 vehicle if it's the original battery, you're talking about a battery that's five years old. That's two for uh now. If you do have to get a battery, I recommend the Clario Sagm battery because they just plain last longer, they're great batteries.
Well, it's not gonna leak it, get all crusty, too. Yeah, and you don't run into that with things leaking out of the battery, uh, getting on the corrosion. As a matter of fact, I had a person call me. This was just yesterday. About corrosion seeping out.
Now, his had more to do when it's on a trickle charger, but he said corrosion would. Creep out of there and actually corrode the charger terminals. And what I mentioned there most likely has to do with the battery itself leaking. Of course, AGM batteries, you don't have to worry about stuff like that. It's done.
And the good thing about the Clarios AGM batteries also. is they're very vibration resistant. You don't so motor dirt bikes, you get into things like side by sides and all of these other items there. You can get them and you can put a AGM battery in there. It lasts much longer and it's less likely to do damage when you go over that big hill.
and hit the ground. Yeah. doing that would work out good.
Okay, so uh next item. I wanted us to talk a little bit about features that are on cars and which ones you like the most. A feature that's on a vehicle. Which one, well, this can be anything from heated seats to. Seats that have a lot of positions in them, heated wheel.
What option do you think you like the most on a modern car? No, I I hate the cold. Uh my sister has a newer vehicle. has you know feed submit of those things are pretty nice especially Get any currency. and your back hurts a little bit or in the cold.
Uh those are pretty nice. All right. Well, I was thinking it that it might be kind of fun. That if anyone calls in and lets us know their favorite option, that they have on their vehicle? What's your favorite modern option?
Is it blind spot indicators? Is it ADIS? Is it heated seats? The one I'm most intrigued about is who loves the cooled seats.
Well, you know, I haven't uh I haven't had the the luck to be able to put my butt on one of those. I don't know.
I don't know if I like 'em or not. The concepts are All right.
Well, that makes sense. Let's see here. Do we let's go to that call? Oh, it is. Oh yeah.
What I would, we, our phones, when we do remotes, that's the other drawback to the remotes: is the phone system has. It has more issues because, of course, it's bouncing several different places and our phone system can have some issues when we're doing remote situations. But I will say that I feel like the cool system, I would say that one of my favorite as far as the automodern vehicle. Would probably be backup cameras. I like.
I like to have a backup camera, mainly because In the morning time, I'm in a little bit of a hurry. And I think it's a great safety feature to be able to look behind you, make sure that there's not a motorcycle or a power wheels car or something parked behind you that the grandkids may have left or another car parked behind you. And also, I'll say that it is amazing the number of accidents that happen at someone's house. In other words, the. One person uh uh uh the dad uh backing into the mom's car or or vice versa.
And and that happens a lot of times because one may have uh one may have pulled in that night, boom, nothing behind them and they get up in the morning, boom, they throw it in reverse. Uh so I I lean toward back up cameras. That's my favorite. Yeah, you know what? I u I use my backup camera.
Everything that I have that has a backup camera. And I mean there's there's no blind spots, you can see straight to the ground, so it's not like something Something Well, also, I really love it as far as for the backing of the trailer. Yeah, doing that. I think that part's really, really good. Of course, I use mirrors more than backup camera for the backing the trailer.
How close you're getting to the ball, but yeah, hooking it up is awesome.
So, there's a lot of things.
So, I think, so yours is the heated seats, mine is the backup cameras. If anyone has other items, they can call in during the second hour. But, but any preferences on which one that they like the most? And again, there's so many beautiful things. And of course, blind spot indicators are kind of neat.
If you drive very often, sooner or later, a blind spot indicator is going to save you butt. Oh, yeah. Yeah. All right. Okay.
We are just about out of time on the first hour of the CNC Auto Show. We had a great time at, or we're having a great time at this coffee and cars event that we have here. But don't worry, we'll have a second hour coming up very shortly. We've got Jamie Bridges co-host and we have Mason Rogers as senior producer and we have Jacob Johnson as video producer. We want to say thank you to them and we want to say thank you to all of you that tuned in, logged in, and called into the CNC Auto Show.
And we will be back with a second hour shortly. The CNC Auto Show is brought to you by New Hampshire Oil Undercoating, the fastest and least expensive way to add safety and value to your vehicle. Drive to nhoilundercoating.com for more information. And we are back with you with the second hour of the CNC Auto Show. And we have been having a great time, lots of fun.
Here with co-host Jamie Bridges. Hey. Hey, that's the way to do it. And here's the crazy part about the coffee and cars events when we attend these. We're walking around during the breaks.
We're talking with a lot of other people and just doing. Different things around. I walked over and looked at the Lamborghini a while ago, and I walked over and talked to the gentleman with the. With the Lincoln that goes up and down the hydraulics. And we have a.
Caller, and right after we go to this caller, because we promised that we were going to give callers a lot of priority here, we have a guest here with us that's driving one of these beautiful cars, and we're going to be talking to him. But for right now, let's go over to our caller. And see what question our caller has. And welcome to the CNC Auto Show. What can we help you with?
Can you hear me okay? Absolutely, we hear you great.
So, uh I heard you talking about the FI. And or induction service And those are Basically To be more specific, that's a Depends on what type of vehicle you have. If you have an injection service or an older vehicle allowed a you know, where you just need induction service. Mm-hmm. My question would be In general, If you go from one shop, auto repair shop to another, should that If one charges $100 more, would you get the same an induction service as an induction service or and or EFI?
Clean out. Would that be? Is there a reason one would be more expensive than the other? Is there quality of that induction certain? You know, do you get where I'm going with this?
I mean, is there. Is there a reason that one would be, say, $100 more than the other one if you don't buy napkins? Oh, I'd love to answer. Possible. Yeah.
Yeah, I I love answering questions like that. Yeah, but I think Yeah, we are. And that's partly my fault because I go on a different time zone, but partly the phone system because there is a delay because this one's going through the internet when we're doing remotes. But yes, I love answering questions like that. And there is, in most cases, there is a difference between what people do.
Because, of course, you can do an induction service for something as simple. as just a chemical being sprayed through the intake manifold as the vehicle's running or even a vacuum line. But a real induction service to me includes several other things. One of the things it includes, there's a chemical that can be used to clean out the throttle body first. There's also a chemical that can be used to clean the mass airflow sensor because over a period of time, dust and dirt that's coming into the vehicle can also coat that mass airflow sensor and make it send faulty readings.
Then there's the induction service and the type induction service.
Now we use a BG induction service which actually has three parts to it. One part goes in, you clean the throttle body with, another part you go in that goes through the system itself. And the third part goes into the fuel which is what cleans the fuel injectors out. Then when that chemical goes through there, it cleans. You've already cleaned the throttle body.
This cleans the inside of the intake manifold. It goes on down, cleans the top of the valves, top of the pistons. Then it goes on out, cleans the O2 sensor, and it goes through the catalytic converter to clean some. Then what's important also is to reset the trim, the fuel trim in the computer because your computer don't know that you did all this and it's going to mix the fuel up as if it were still dirty. Carbon in there and still stopped up.
So if all that's done, Things like that do make it vary. Dependent on what all is done.
Now, on the other token, sometimes people just give great prices. You might find somebody else that may do all of that and just do it at a very low price. But more often than not, to get all the things done, you're going to be on the upper end of what it costs to do an induction service because, of course, of the chemicals that are used in the technician and the time. Very good, very good. I know this sounds bad, but what I kind of heard there was also, you know, you get what you pay for.
And I hate to say that. That doesn't sound right, I know, but but sometimes you do.
So Um And uh So, yeah, that answers my question on that item. And I do business at TNC, and I've taken my vehicle there a few times more than. few times. I haven't really had to have there a whole lot lately. Um Oh but That's just something I needed to l that's just something I needed to look at going forward and then Um, I was just kind of Wanting that information and you answered, and I really appreciate your help.
Well, we thank you, and we do appreciate that.
Okay, and I'm going to take just a second and mention this part also. I think it's really important that people ask those questions. They're making decisions. They don't need to, instead of having someone make those decisions for you, you want somebody to give you the information about your car and you gain the knowledge on what decision is best for you. And that's what he's doing.
So ask those questions. Get familiar. Do the research on Google.
Okay, now we're going to a more fun part.
Well, that was fun, too. I loved it. But we're going to another part of the show, and that's to talk to someone who owns one of the beautiful cars out here today. We're going to be talking to Audi Hemingway. Audi, welcome to the show.
Thank you, fam. Man, we appreciate you being here very much. And I happened to catch a glimpse of this beautiful car, and I asked you, would you pull this car behind us and let's talk a little bit? Yes, yeah. Tell us a little bit about where the car came from, when you bought it.
Uh how you found it. Did you restore it? Did somebody else restore it? Just a few details on the card. I always wanted to be one of these old schools and I had been looking around back in uh 2018.
And it was kind of hard to find, but actually, it was kind of out of luck. One day I was just driving down Washington Road and I just turned down and was going towards, I think, Walmart, and I happened to look over there at that Queensborough Bank. It was sitting over there for sale. Oh, wow. I said, hey, I got to turn around and go back and look at that.
So that's how I looked up and got it. And it mainly was already restored. I just had to do a few things, you know, to buff it out a little bit. But other than that, the way it looks now, it was so that's how a lot of people get married. They're walking down the street.
I said, oh, I'm going to have to go in there and check that out.
So that's what it did with you. It caught your eye, didn't it? It caught my eye. Yeah, and then it caught your heart. Right?
Yeah. It sounded like you fell in love. And you wasn't leaving without that car. No, that was mine. All right.
So you actually had this kind of in the back of your mind of something you wanted, and then you happened to be riding down the road and. Boom, it was there. Right color, right car, everything. Everything. Yeah.
And how long have you had it? Uh, ever since 2018. Wow, okay. And uh i and I realize you don't drive those a huge amount, but how how often do you get it out of the garage and bring it place? Normally I drive at least uh twice a month.
Yeah. I just go to little like cruise ins like this and a couple of other places. Yeah. And just maybe just drive around town just to keep it going. Yeah.
Try not to let it sit up too long. You enjoy coming to cars and uh coffee and cars events? Yes, I I try to make it here every uh first Saturday. Yeah, yeah.
Well, we're getting that way. We're starting to be here almost every day. Yeah, we are. Yeah, just about every Saturday. And.
Being able to talk to people like Audi here is the reason we do that. It is. It is. And I love this color, the olive. Right.
And and see when we were talking when I was talking to you over there, I really, for whatever reason, I didn't even think of it being a convertible. And then when I asked you to come over here, I looked over there and boom, your top was coming down. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I normally leave it up when it's hot like this, but since we just saw it, I know when I give it a drive off, I had to put it back.
Look, I'm kind of glad at least it got air conditioning. Yeah, so that's that's a good thing.
Well, I can tell you this, it's a really clean, beautiful car. And congratulations on finding that. And I want to say thank you also for bringing it out and sharing it with others to be able to look at because I think that's very important and very nice for people to take care of vehicles and to bring it out just to get an opportunity for others to see it. Thank you. Thank you.
And appreciate you being here.
Okay, then we'll be right back with more of the CNC Auto Show. Yeah, yeah.
Gotta go make it happen. Take the world in a lovely grace. Fire all of your guns at once. Explode into space. I like smoking lightning.
And we're back with you with the CNC Auto Show here with co-host Jamie Bridges. We're here at the Coffee and Cars event here in Augusta, Georgia. And that is at the Judicial Center here in Augusta, Georgia. And we have a great event going on, lots of cars. And if you cannot be here, don't worry.
You can go to facebook.com forward slash CC Auto Show, and we will bring the show to you. Or you can listen in on your favorite radio station. Either way, we'll have a great time. And one of the things that I love about coming to the Coffee and Cars event is we get to talk to different people with different vehicles. And we have a person here with us right now.
We have Lloyd Freeman that's got this absolutely beautiful Camaro sitting here. And he is sitting in the vehicle with the headset on. He's going to be on the show here with his vehicle, telling us a little bit about it. Lloyd, welcome to the show. Thank you, sir.
It's good to be here.
Well, we appreciate you being here. Tell us a little bit about this beautiful car that you have here. Start with the Year Make model and then go into some details. It looks like to me some modifications have been made out there. The best I can tell.
Yes, yes, I think so.
Okay, this is a 2017 SS Camara. Uh Just something that Riding with my son, we upgraded cars. Talk me into it. uh got into it i've built hot rods for years, wired race cars at Jackson Drag Strip, Uh this became a challenge. Uh first game the Supercharger.
Then a fully rebuilt motor.
Now you did say supercharger, right? I did. Yeah. After the supercharger, the motor, of course, everything has to be upgraded. There comes in the suspension, drive shaft, exhaust, you name it, everything's been done to this one.
It's a lot of fun. Last pass, you know, it's a low nine-second car at. Too much speed. We'll call it that. Last time I ran it, right now it runs on.
E85 fuel and methanol. You know, I was going to say when it pulled here, you could tell that was not even high unleaded fuel. That wasn't even 91 octane. That was something different. How did you rouse your exhaust?
Because I know it's not out the back like it is. It's just a downturn. It is. It's a custom X-Pipe, and these are actually aluminum and titanium race mufflers. and they are B-banded to the X-Pipe and dovetails turn out diagonal.
Before the rear exit. It sounds great, but yeah, it's uh it's definitely loud. You're not gonna miss it. Yeah. Were you able to notice the difference with the supercharger when you put it on?
Big difference. Big difference. Big difference. Highly recommend. Yeah.
Uh turbos are better. Superchargers something I wanted from It was a childhood thing with me. Uh-huh.
Okay. So this is a little bit like a a boat. You you start with a a small fishing boat and the next thing you know you got this uh yacht that you're riding around in. Yeah, I'm at a point where I'm happy with the car. Uh And right now I'm enjoying it.
Uh not looking to Progress down to speed or the time. I'm not chasing the time at a track. I'm just enjoying driving it. Uh-huh.
So how often do you take it out to the track? Uh More sparingly than I'd like to. I would say two, three times a year. It's usually private track rentals. Me and my tuner give a shout out to Brett Stewart at Pre-Performance.
He He's working on finalizing the tune on this car and a little dyno session and we'll be ready to see some. All right. Well, what we're hoping for is that you crank it up and let everyone listen to this beautiful 2017 Camaro with a supercharger. That's correct. All right, here we go.
Ha ha ha ha. Bring it up a little bit. Ah, listen to it. Lloyd, that is beautiful. Thank you, sir.
I appreciate it.
Well, thank you very much for joining us. Yes, sir. We appreciate it. I loved it. Thank you.
Alright.
Now that was pretty awesome. It is. You know. Every once in a while, my husband gets this little gleam in his eye, and he starts talking about race car or turbo or supercharger or something like that. But, you know.
And that's what I always tell them, I said, you if we can get this car. But it's always going to be one more. It's one more of this.
So you do this, and then you got to upgrade this, and upgrade this, and upgrade this. Those things are neat. But it always turns into something else, and then you end up, and that thing is awesome. But Well, you know, if you think about it, that's a little bit like we did with the radio show. We started out, we said, Well, let's do a small little radio show, and the next thing, oh, let's add this, let's go ahead and add this.
And then the next thing you know, we're out in the parking lot. Yeah, we're in the parking lot with the trailer, coffee, and cars going on. Oh, did you see that thing? That was a beautiful car.
Okay, we're going to lay that tech tip quiz on the table because we really need an answer to that tech tip quiz. Names were changed to protect the innocent. Jacob owns the 2021 Silverado. He was parked next to a large tree and a big storm hit. A large limb broke.
On the tree, and it fell to the ground. But it missed the car by exactly four inches, but it did over $2,000 worth of damage to the truck. Yeah. If If someone does not answer this tech tip quiz shortly, I'm going to let you answer this tech tip quiz, and you'll get all of the prize and paraphernalia and all the other things that go along with this.
So we're going to give it just a little bit.
Okay, next item that we had here that we were going to mention. had to do with another question. Uh person called in And actually, this person just called me on the phone and I jotted it down. 2018 Chevy Truck and asked if he should get an extended warranty on the truck when he buys it. Uh what's your thoughts?
So I've never, I've always bought vehicles outright. I paid cash for them. I don't have any fantastic vehicles at home. They're always something older, something that I can. Work on three minutes.
Work on pretty easily myself at home.
So last year, my husband decided that we needed a tundra.
So we went to the dealership and we bought our first New Dust car.
Well, it was used, it's a 16. But anyway. Beat it up, we bought the extended warranty. And uh after about a month we knew that it was gonna need Your wheel bearings.
So we waited 30 days and we took it back to the dealership, you know, paid our. $100 or $200 or whatever it was, and they changed the rear axle bearing.
So, really. That first time that we used it, that extended warranty paid for itself. But I bought that warranty from the dealership. It wasn't an unsolicited phone call or.
Something like that. It worked for us. Yeah, and I have the same experience. We see some customers that come in and it has great experience. with the vehicle.
Yeah, we need to take a break. We'll finish this when we get back with more of the CNC Auto Show. Rabbit roll that Stock call for he the bills driver in the lamb. He said it. They learn to raise the stars call my own shine out of bow Ooh, the demolition to be Lovi.
Yeah. And welcome back to the CNC Auto Show. We are live at the Coffee and Cars event here in downtown Augusta, Georgia, at the Judicial Center. This thing will be going on for about another hour or so. But if you are not able to attend this event, if you're listening to us from another state, you can still see the show.
All you got to do is go to ccautoshow.com. And no, I'm sorry.
Well, you can go there also, ccautoshow.com, and you can watch the show there. You can also go to Facebook. Dot com forward slash CC Auto Show, and you can watch the show that way also. Lots of fun, lots of beautiful cars out here. We're having a great time that we have in.
Jamie, am I right or is uh is is there a uh Caller up there. Yeah, there's a callerless. It's like a tech tick. Hey, Zach. Hey.
Yeah. Ha how you doing? Good, how are you? Welcome to the show. Oh, you called the right place because we got it.
Let me lay it out on the table for you. First, I'm going to put you on the stage. Hmm. And I did mention this true story. Names were changed though, just to protect everybody.
Jacob owns the 2021 Silverado. He was parked next to a large tree at work and a big storm hit. A large limb broke on the tree and fell to the ground. But it missed the truck. By four inches.
That part was good. But The bad part is it did over $2,000 in damage. How can this happen? And all eyes are on you. What is the answer to today's Tech Tip Quiz?
Okay, now I haven't heard any guesses, but this sounds like something that happened ex to my sister. But Big storm, she parked under a tree at the house, branch fell, missed the car, but a lightning bolt didn't miss her car. Hit the bottom of her tire in her rim. destroyed the entire electrical system. Oh my goodness.
Let's see what the judges have to say about that. And thank you very much. Yes. You are. Yeah.
Absolutely right. The limb missed it by four inches, but the lightning, it actually went through the antenna on this one.
So far, the serial gateway module's been replaced, the BCM's been replaced, and it's still. Checking out, finding different things bad. What I've done in the past, or what we've done in the past, when we do get lightning damage, you just have to replace things until you've got everything. Everything melts. Yeah, because you can't test this one part until you replace the other one and it's straight down the line.
And sometimes it does very little damage, and other times it's pretty expensive. Uh what they do I talked to the technician about this he had in the circuit. Yeah. But I did talk to the technician last night about this vehicle because it's still there. And he mentioned it, it's kind of amazing.
It looks like the modules are. are not as ex expensive as you would think. At one time, BCMs and gateway modules and all these others were just over-the-top expensive. And actually, a lot of these are pretty reasonable when we're getting them.
So Just I it what can I tell you to avoid a lightning strike? I mean good luck. Yeah, uh but what I can bark under a big tree. Yeah, yeah, don't bark under a big tree. Uh but I guess it's better that it hit the car not the person.
Uh but on this one you can see on the antenna the part where the light didn't hit. And yes, Sarah.
Okay, you are a winner of the Tech Tip Quiz. And if you were here, if you were at this Coffee and Cars event, I would present you with your prize right here. Right on the show, but you're not.
So we're going to have to turn you over. To our producer Mason Rogers, and he will be jumping on the phone with you and getting all your information, and he's going to give you a secret code.
So, when you come, you'll know, we'll know it's you. All right. We appreciate it very much. And thank you.
Well, thank you for answering me. Woo! Wow! We would have fixed you up big time. We would have asked you to do a happy dance on the show right here.
Would you have done that? Hehehehehehe That was a nice little laugh there. All right, sounds good. Hey, we appreciate it very much. Thank you.
Have a go. Oh, and we're gonna put you on hold.
Okay, fantastic.
Okay, so he is on hold. All right, we're going to go ahead. Since we got the answer to that one, I wanted to be able to go ahead and lay the next tech tip quiz out on the table. For us, so this will be this hour's tech tip quiz. That one answered last hour.
Here it is. Tommy the technician was checking a coolant leak on a 2004 Chrysler Sebrin. It had coolant leaking from between the engine and the transmission. The problem is that there's nothing in that area that normally leaks coolant. The water pump, radiator and coolant hoses are all in the front of the engine.
So I know that there's Technicians listen to this from time to time because they tell me. They say, Erin, I listen to the show.
So this will probably be a question. That's an automotive technician will answer, and it's what was leaking coolant on this 2004. Chrysler Sebring. And if somebody knows the answer to our technical quiz today, give us a call. And again, 800-224-9090.
And then also we were talking a little bit about the options that you like the most on your vehicle.
So give us a call on that. But when we took that other break, we had the gentleman come in. We didn't get to finish the conversation on the extended warranty.
So, what is your take on the extended warranty? Because we had good luck with ours, but maybe we got lucky.
Well, no, about the same thing. I do see some people do very well with extended warranties.
Now, in many cases, it's like insurance. I mean, any other type of insurance you would get. The warranty company is betting your car is not going to act up, and you're betting that it is.
So in many cases, you can come out okay with it because if you've got a car that big things happen to. And they are covered items, I then that could be very good. That's that's oh, that's an E V. Yeah, ZDX, Acura. Wow.
But you can come out very good. I think the main thing that people need to remember when they're purchasing an extended warranty: well, one, do the research, because, like you said, you bought yours through the dealership. Traditionally, many times the dealership will pick good warranties because they don't want to have to deal with. a bad uh A bad water pom a bad um Issue having to do with a warranty company, but at the same time, Do your research. There's good ones out there, and there's good companies, but you need to remember.
That it doesn't always cover everything. Many warranty companies, they'll say it'll cover everything, but then when you find certain things go bad, they'll say, no, that's not a covered item. And it may extend the repair process a little bit because you have to get technical. Warranty. Yeah, you have to get approval from the warranty company.
Okay, do we have a call? Uh good morning, Gary. Welcome to the show, and we got about a minute. How are you doing? Doing good.
We got about a minute, but if we don't answer your question, we can put you on hold and grab you when we come back from the second one. What can we help with? Hey, I got a 2011 Cadillac hybrid. and I buy cars from the auction. This one happened to have Um DPS kill slips on it.
Mm. And someone looked like they were trying to mess with it. But everything comes on when I turn the key on, but when I turn the key to crank it, it goes blank. Hmm. So the whole vehicle goes blank or just the GPS screen?
Now the whole screen, the whole dashboard go blank.
Okay, and then the vehicle does not crank after that, is that correct? It does not clank after that. You can listen to the radio. You could you could uh You can let the windows down, you can open up the sunroof.
Okay. Okay. Well, without question, I would start with checking the battery because all of those items that you mentioned, the screen on the dash, the radio and all those, those can fire up for, I think, about eight volts because that's what the computer needs to stay alive. But eight volts is not enough to spin the engine over and it will make everything else go dark.
So always start with the battery. Check to make sure you got 12.6 volts in the battery. And then after that, you are losing voltage somewhere.
So the next step is going to be, first always do a visual check. Wiggle the cables. I mean, if they're loose, then, and you'd be surprised how many times that happens. But wiggle the cables. If they feel tight, then the next step is going to be to run a voltage drop test.
That's going to be a technician can run the test. It don't take expensive equipment to do it, just a real good multimeter. But it's going to be to run a voltage drop test and find out where that vehicle is losing the voltage from. But I got a strong feeling. that you may very well find your problem has to do with low voltage in the battery.
And if it is, of course, without question on that vehicle, if it's your regular battery that's driving all those accessories, not the hybrid battery, but I would get a AGM battery from Clarios.
Sound good? Oh, the battery is right near.
Okay. Well, that, see, you're messing me up with reality, so we're going to need to put you on break just a little bit. I'm cutting up with you. And we'll be right back after you. And we do welcome you back to the CNC Auto Show.
We're live here at a coffee and cars event here in Augusta, Georgia. We have Gary on the phone. Gary had a hybrid. Cadillac that he had purchased at an auction, and it will not start. He pushes the button, and it will not go, but.
He does have the radio windows and all that does work. Does that sound correct, Gary? Yes, sir. Okay. All right.
Now you mentioned the battery had been replaced.
Now which battery, did the hybrid batteries were the hybrid batteries replaced or was the twelve volt battery replaced? It was a twelve volt battery replace.
Okay. Alright, and your indicator, you're not able to look at your indicator and tell if your hybrid batteries are charged or not charged. No. Um, I probably do have to replace it because they only last anywhere between four to five years. Mm-hmm.
And from what I've read about it, they said if you don't replace it. Your vehicle will still operate, but you just get all kinds of uh bad mileage. Yeah, it would operate in the ice engine mode or ice mode.
So that, um, and that part is correct. It should, unless it goes down to a certain. Level. If it's completely dead, you may very well not. And what can happen, and actually, traditionally, we're seeing the batteries last longer.
Than that amount of time, but what kills hybrid batteries and EV batteries is if they go dead and they set for a period of time. For instance, if the car was sitting at an auction ready to be sold, the battery went down to a certain point. That sitting there with no charge on that battery will kill. that hybrid battery There is that possibility that your hybrid batteries may be bad, but they're such an expensive item. That would be worth spending some money on diagnostics on there to be sure that that's what your problem is.
But I'm leaning toward you needing hybrid batteries. If you plug it in, does it show that it's even accepting the charge? Uh no, it doesn't show none of that indication at all. What I'm thinking. Like a golf cart.
You know, you let your golf cart go dead. Yeah, it won't kick the charger on. I wonder if it's the same as. I'm not super. Uh the hybrid beef.
Yeah, I'm leaning toward the high probability you're going to need some hybrid batteries on there. But at auction. I know I will. I know I will. Yeah.
Many times that's why somebody sends them to the auction because they say, oh, this is going to need batteries. I don't think I'll do that.
So you. But the good side is many times you buy a car at the auction, you're getting it at a much lower price.
So you got a little wiggle room. to uh to be able to spend on on the batteries.
So yeah, that's what we're leaning toward though. Yeah, and then I did my research on it and I managed to call the people who owned the vehicle. Uh-huh.
And the guy told me that it was repossessed and they had activated the kill switch. Uh-huh.
Oh, why not? From the car lot, the kill switch from the car lot. Yes, now that does throw another option in there, and many car lots do that. They will put an item on the vehicle that will interrupt her.
Now, the way that we normally go about finding those is we have to go in. They usually mount that device under the driver's side kick panel near the steering column, and they go into some wires having to do with the ignition, but actually, they can mount them in any location.
So, you're going to need a technician to go in and search out to find out if there is one there. And if it is, you're going to have to get them to disconnect it and connect those wires back together where that was before you can tell anything because you won't even be able to test anything on the vehicle until that device is taken off. And somebody that knows what they're doing can remove it and splice the wires back together. and you will um you will be back to normal on there.
So Yeah. Gotcha. Mm. Gotcha. All right.
Thank you guys. I appreciate it.
Well, we thank you, and good luck with that on getting it rolling again. Thank you. I will.
Okay, the number of the call is 800-224-9090. And Jamie, we talked about that on the show before, and we asked the caller's opinion on if that sounds right, that somebody can purchase a car. and be able to cut it off like if you buy a car from somewhere. Is it right that the place that you bought it from can cut the car off at any time that they want to? Of course, I think part of our thoughts was the car.
Really belongs to them.
Well, yeah, if you haven't paid it off all the way. Then and usually the places that install those are smaller operations. They have a family.
So I mean it's they don't sell cars because they'd like to. Because they need to make money. Yeah. not paying your bill. Property back.
Yeah, but it is tricky to own a car and be driving around a car knowing that somebody can flip a switch and cut you off at any time. That part's kind of bad.
Okay, do we have another call? We only got a minute or so. We got about a minute and a half. Ron, what can we help with? Uh guys, uh just wanted to make a statement about South Carolina banning squatted cars.
Oh, wow. I wonder if Georgia's gonna follow that uh I wonder if Georgia's going to follow that same pursuit. But you're talking about the Carolina. On the pickups. You're right.
Well, pickups, any kind of vehicle, uh To me, it's just a silly demonstration of irresponsible youth. Uh that would want to do something like that. Uh if you're in a residential neighborhood, there's no way you can see a child run out in front of you. If there's a rear end collision, if there's a rear end collision, that car could you could go over one of these smaller cars and rip off the whole roof of the car.
Well, you know, all your transmission fluid, your oil in your engine is all the way to the back of the engine putting pressure on your seals. To me, it's just, I don't know, it's a demonstration of idiocy. And I would hope Georgia would follow suit and stop it here, too. Yeah. Ron, what's going to be tricky is they're going to have a hard time enforcing that, though, because, for instance, we have two cars right here that can be jacked up in the front one minute and the front touching the ground and the back jacked up the next minute.
Or you could push a button in all four corners.
So as the officer's starting to write the ticket, the car might be. Not jacked up anymore. They can actually put them anywhere they want because they got hydraulic pumps. The town car that was over there a few minutes ago, his is jacked up in the front, but he was. running around making the front go up and down.
So I don't know, Ron. It'd be tricky to enforce it on those types. But I mean, the ones where they fix the body or the suspension that way. That is in the history of. Power modifications, I think that is one of the worst ones.
Yeah. Ron, good point, though. We'll find out how Georgia goes. All righty, y'all have a great weekend. Hey, thank you.
Okay, we are out of time. It's time to, it's been a great coffee and cars. We've enjoyed it very much. Time to close this week down, but we will be back next week with a whole new CNC Auto Show. Thank you, Jamie, for being here.
We love it when you co-host. And we want to say thank you to Mason Rogers, producer, Jacob Johnson, video producer. And we will see you all next week with more of the CNC Auto Show. In the shop this week, we had a comeback, but it was a good comeback. Miss Williams came back with her 2018 Kia Sona to get the CV shaft that we had told her she needed over eight months ago.
We do a good 28-point inspection on every car that comes in, but we let people know if what we find is a priority one, two, or three. A priority one is a safety item and recommended to do as soon as possible. This would be something like worn brakes or a ball tire. A priority two is something that is recommended but not a safety item, such as a transmission fluid exchange. That should be done when it's convenient.
Then there's the priority three, which needs to be done, but no big hurry. We had marked the CV shaft as a priority three, and she waited until it was in the budget to bring it back, but she brought it back with no appointment, and this was a Kia.
Well, it turned out not to be a problem at all. AutoZone had the part in stock, and this is a Kia. We installed a CV shaft, and Miss Williams was on her way down life's highway. I think. customers bring their cars to us because they trust us and because thanks to AutoZone, we can repair the car when they are ready.
