And we do welcome you to the CNC auto show.

And if you are looking for information on ways to make your car safe, dependable and long lesson, then don't move a neuron in your frontal lobe because it is just about to happen. Remember at the bottom of your scheme, I'll include preparing your car for spring tips at no extra charge. You just pay for the shipping and handling and it'll be done. So pick up that phone, dial 800-224-9090.

And that's actually on any Saturday morning, 805 to 10 Eastern Time. And I want to remind you that you can also watch this show live on Facebook. Okay. Buckle up, let's ride and let's do it. Let's just go straight to the call immediately.

I like that. We will go over to visit with Don. Don, welcome to the CNC auto show. And what can we help you with today?

Thank you guys. I just purchased a used 2004 Toyota prerunner, six cylinder. And it seems to be in great shape, but you know, I was told I might need to do some, put some struts on it, just change the timing chain. I want to run another 200,000 miles. So what are some of the things you guys would suggest me doing bumper to bumper?

Oh, that's, that's great. I bought a car not terribly long ago and it had roughly about a hundred thousand miles on it, but I went through the same process. I wanted to know what I needed to do after I purchased the vehicle.

And of course, one of the things that I did first, go ahead. I was just thinking fuel filters, transmission filter. Yeah.

You're almost on track there. Yeah. And, um, now fuel filter, if it's got a fuel filter, many cars now don't. I was trying, I think that was in the year model. They may, it may or may not have a fuel filter, but you're absolutely right. Just think fluids and rubber. That's, that's one of the things I think about when I'm bringing a car back up to the standards that I love for that car to be, uh, that includes your engine coolant.

Now, all of these are assuming that it hadn't been done. So you may check some of this stuff that I'm talking about and find out that it might've been done and not do again, but you got your engine coolant. You've got your engine oil. You've got your, uh, brake fluid, power steering fluid, uh, transmission fluid. Now I'm going to mention one thing on the transmission.

It's different than what a lot of people think. A lot of people think that they need to go just have a transmission service, which is traditionally pulling off the pan and putting a new gasket on there, putting a new screen or filter and putting the pan back on and putting the five quarts of fluid back on. And you're good. And in reality, many times that's worse than, than, uh, anything else you could do if the screen is not going to be stopped up, unless you got major transmission problems. So unless the pan is leaking, I wouldn't pull the pan off. I would have someone connect a transmission fluid exchange equipment to the vehicle. And what that does is just as the old fluid pushes out, new fluid goes in to take its place and you get a complete fluid exchange instead of just the five quarts. So that's that part, something that gets overlooked many times. And on that vehicle, that is a rear wheel drive. Uh, if I'm not mistaken.

Yes. Uh, so people, people ignore the rear differential until it starts making a noise when it started making a noise, it's too late. Uh, but on any rear differential over time, it starts to build up some metal debris because you figure you got these parts moving inside there. And as they're moving, they got to create somewhere. Now, many cars, and this is the reason it gets overlooked many cars that, uh, that interval is like 90, a hundred thousand miles because there's no combustion gases in going in or, uh, or a huge amount of heat to break that fluid down.

So it can go a long time, but it won't go 200 usually. So you want to get that out of there and all these things that I'm mentioning to you are exactly the things that I did to my car. Mine had been sitting up a long time, uh, when I got it. So the tires were also, uh, dry cracking. I looked at the date code and there is a date code on a tire, so you can tell how old it is.

Uh, I looked at it and they were like 10 years old, so I had to replace the tires and I had to, um, do a, I did a maintenance tuneup on the vehicle just because it was due now to tune up. Unless it is due. You don't necessarily have to do that because of a time situation. It's more of a mileage type deal. Uh, but those are the things that I normally do get that done.

Exactly. Get it up to par. And I think you're, you're starting out the right way. I don't regret mine. It's probably been a year since I did all that to my car. I don't regret it at all because, uh, it has, uh, it has just done wonderful piece of mind.

Yeah, it is. And, and also it just makes it last longer and cars cost so much. Now it's well worth the money for preventative maintenance to just make them last longer than they would have otherwise. So you're starting out the right way. And congratulations on that. Well, thank you. And y'all y'all y'all handle all those services. Oh, absolutely.

We, um, we handle, uh, all that we love preventative maintenance. Um, I'm in Thompson. Where would the nearest store be to me? Uh, nearest one to Thompson would be on Jimmy dies partway.

And that would be rights for road Jimmy dies partway. And we call that one CNC automotive west. All right. Well, I'll be seeing you guys. I appreciate your helpful information. Oh, we thank you. And I think that's wonderful that you starting out the right way with that vehicle. That's a, that's a good thing to do. All right. Thank you. Okay.

The number to call is 800 2 2 4 9 0 9 0. We had a tech tip quiz from last week that, uh, terrible to say, but nobody got the answer. We did get a person that got very close on that deal, but it just no cigar at the time. So we're going to throw this thing back out there. And of course the winner will receive that official coffee cup, uh, with I answered detective quiz, but I'm going to give them an option.

They can have one of our all new t-shirts that say CNC auto show on it. So that person to get to take the pick and here is the question, Bob pulled his 96 Chevrolet S 10 up to a McDonald's drive up menu. Nobody answered, but when he pulled around, his food was there. How was that possible?

And it was exactly what he wanted. If you know the answer, you give us a call. That's 800 2 2 4 9 0 9 0, and you will be a tech tip quiz winner. Okay. Along with answering automotive questions today, we will be talking about things to do with springtime. And I would love it also, if you call in and tell us about a springtime trip that you have made before that was very special to you or a springtime trip that you plan to make in the coming weeks. And what does it do is it'll give others ideas of places that they can go because so many people want to get out, even though the gas prices are kind of high. Uh, but people want to get out, they want to travel a little bit. They want to see different things. So I want you to call in and tell me a little bit about a trip that you have made or plan to make. And that may help someone else to be able to, uh, to, to make a trip very similar to that.

Okay. Of course, one of the items that I want to go ahead and mention early, uh, as far as a springtime, uh, tip for your car is your wiper blades. That don't make a trip with wiper blades, making that loud, obnoxious noise, because after riding for a while, listen to that noise, you and everyone else in the whole car will be in a terrible mood. And wiper blades are cheap in most places and many places install the wiper blades at no charge. So consider those wiper blades and they'll charge for the blades, but they won't charge to put them on. That's in many cases. Uh, and since the other thing, wiper blades, when they start getting hard and brittle, they can actually scratch your windshield and that'll make it to where at night you start seeing all those little lines reflected off of there.

And it's much harder to see. So actually wiper blades could save you a lot of money in the long run. Here's your first tip. We'll be right back after these messages. Any automotive question you may have. So give me a call. That number is 800-224-9090. That's on any Saturday morning, 805 to 10 Eastern Time.

You can also watch the show live on Facebook. And I have been asking people to give me an idea of places they may have been in the past for a good springtime trip or let me know where they might be planning to go in the springtime for a trip that's coming up. That'll give others ideas of places they can go.

I love ideas on things like that. I'm going to be going to the beach very soon. Matter of fact, very, very soon. And I'll be going to all the palms, Charleston. And we'll be enjoying that time.

So if you've got a trip planned, let me know what it is. And I am also going through some things that I would recommend doing for the wintertime, I mean, for the springtime to get your vehicle ready. And when you think of springtime and cars, you think of your air conditioning system. And a good test for your AC is to see if it gets cold.

If it does and it's not making a noise, chances are that there's nothing terribly wrong with the system because that is a very good test for it. But if it's not cold or not cold as it should be, you may be due for a service. It may have a low refrigerant condition. And low refrigerant in an air conditioning system on a car can lead to components going bad because that refrigerant that's flowing through the system carries oil through the system. And that oil is what keeps that compressor lubricated. That's how they're able to make the compressor somewhat smaller than before.

It actually does more than it did, but it's smaller and lighter. And of course, that's very important on a car. But the only way they were able to do that was allow that refrigerant to do the lubrication. So when you get low in refrigerant, it's kind of like running your engine low in oil. And of course, that's not good.

So if it's not as cold as it should be or barely getting cold, I wouldn't run it until you have it serviced because you could be doing some damage. Okay, it is time to go to the phones and we will go over and talk to Kim. Kim, welcome to the CNC Auto Show and what can we help you with? Oh, Kim, you know what I need to do for you to do that.

And I'm going to tell you something that happened recently. Our producer, Mason Rogers, has actually built a little mechanism to where I can signal Blue to come in the room and play the trumpet. Before, he had to do that. Now, I have the power to actually call Blue into the room. So here I go. This is really kind of neat, too, because it kind of makes you feel like you're in control. Here we go.

Oh, that is so awesome. Now, Kim, if you don't mind, I'm going to read that quiz one more time. Bob pulled his 96 Chevrolet S10 up to a McDonald's drive-up menu. Nobody answered, but when he pulled around, his food was there.

And it was exactly what he wanted. How is that possible? And, Kim, everyone is looking at you to answer today's tech tip quiz. What is it?

He ordered his food beforehand, and then when he got to the window, they had it because he let them know on his app what car he was in and when he would be there. Wow. You know, Kim, I mentioned this before that many times I'll do a tech tip quiz, and I don't think of other answers because I'll be focused in on the answer that I'm thinking about.

And actually, people come up with answers that are as good or even sometimes better than the answer I have. And, Kim, this is one of those times. But here's the tricky part. The producer, Mason Rogers, did put me, give me the ability to bring you on stage.

But I'm ashamed to say that he also gave me the ability to signal the crowd to give the all back. I'll have to get some confidence in a year or two to call back in. Kim, you're okay. It's okay.

Hopefully I'll get it then. Okay. Kim, well, Kim, you are very welcome to give it another shot. All you have to do is give us a call. Hey, do you have any springtime trips planned for the coming springtime? Yeah.

Oh, I would consider that a good springtime trip. What kind of motorcycle do you have? Well, that is really awesome. You know, what I ride is a little bit different, Kim. I have a dirt bike and I have a Yamaha YZ450 FX. And that son of a gun about a month ago broke my leg. And it took me, I'm just getting where I can walk again. I was on a trail.

And here's the tricky part, Kim. I mentioned this before, but you love motorcycles, so I'll tell you. I was on a trail and I was planning on going kind of slow, but I got behind somebody that was going kind of fast. And you know how you get the adrenaline starts flowing? And so my intent was to keep up with that person.

I wanted to keep up. So as I was doing that, I rounded a curb, hit some mud, my wheel went flying, my leg went the other way. And the bad part is with a broke leg, I had to ride about 15 minutes out of there because there was no way you was ever going to get an ambulance back there. So it cracked my femur, but I'm well now. So, Kim, now yours is a street bike. You won't go through any of that, but you have a good trip and enjoy your springtime motorcycle ride. I appreciate you. You put it together, you get a slide rule out and you call back and answer that thing.

Thank you, Kim. All right, we'll be right back after these messages. If your vehicle squeals or grinds when you slow down or just isn't stopping like it used to, you may need new brake rotors and pads. You can also watch the show live on Facebook and it is there for you to see. Okay, we are looking for an answer to our tech tip quiz for one thing. We got a lot of stuff going on here. But I will lay the tech tip quiz back on the table and see if we can get the correct answer to that because someone has a prize package waiting for them. Bob pulled his 1996 Chevrolet S10 up to a McDonald's drive-through menu. Nobody answered, but when he pulled around, his food was there. And it was exactly what he wanted.

How was that possible? And if you know the answer, you give us a call and that's 800-224-9090. And I'm also talking about some springtime tips. And one of the tips that I have, of course this is a big one for the springtime because everybody kind of loves to do it, is consider getting a nice wash and wax or consider doing a nice wash and wax and also cleaning the interior and just getting the vehicle all fresh and ready for the springtime. And it'll help the paint and help the interior because putting, in my opinion, putting a little bit of paint on, I mean putting a little wax, doing a good wax job on your car, is a lot like you putting suntan lotion on. That wax protects the paint from the sun, it protects it from the acid rain, it just makes the paint last a lot longer.

And I'm not sure how many of you may have got a quote on getting a paint job in the last period of time. But paint jobs, because of the tight paint that it takes and the expertise that it takes to do a good paint job now, it is very expensive. So spending that extra time on keeping that vehicle washed and waxed, it will make the paint last a lot longer. And of course, even if you plan on selling the car, keeping the paint in good condition, will also increase the value. Let's say you plan on selling it in two years. You sell it with faded paint and you get this amount.

You sell it with nice looking paint where it's still got a nice shine to it, you get this amount. So what you're spending on either doing the wash and wax yourself or having someone do the wax, you'll get a return on that investment as time goes on because it will make your car worth more. And not to mention the time that you're driving and it just feels a lot better to drive a car that's got a little shine to it than to drive one that the sun has already beat it up really, really well. And with that, if you park in the same place all day, try to find a place with a little bit of shade instead of parking in the hot sun all the time. If there's ways that you can park it where it's out of the sun, do that. And that will also make your paint last a lot longer. So if you've got a question about your car truck or SUV, you give us a call.

That number 800-224-9090. Also looking for trips that you may have made having to do with the springtime. And this might have been a springtime trip that you made a while back that you want to share with others, or you may have a trip planned to go somewhere this springtime.

Either one share it with us because it may help someone else to have an idea of where to go. Now I want to mention one other thing, and this will probably be one of the more important things that I mentioned during this show, is springtime is another time that is important to teenagers. A lot of the teenagers may be graduating. A lot of the teenagers may have recently received their driver's license.

A lot of them may have different events they need to go to before the end of the year. But in either case, it's a very exciting time. And it can be very exciting, but it can also be a terrible time. What happens is many times teenagers may get excited. They may get distracted while they're driving because they may have a lot of friends in the car with them. They're all talking, having a good time.

That will distract you. They may be running late or trying to communicate with someone. So they're sending text messages out to other people while they're trying to drive. They may be in a hurry and don't have a chance to air up that tire that may be low in pressure.

And so all of these things can cause big issues. Or, of course, another thing, they may be running strong and just didn't get enough sleep when they drive. Those with a teenage driver, I'm recommending while I'm asking and actually begging, sit down and have a talk with them. Have a talk with your teenage driver and let them know the consequences of what can happen if you take your eyes off the road, even for a few seconds, because in those few seconds, you have traveled a great distance many times.

If you're driving 55, 60, 70 miles an hour and you look down at your phone for that period of time, you have traveled a long distance without looking at the road. And many times something can happen in front of you and you didn't know it because you were looking down and an accident can happen. So sit down and talk about that, because sometimes they may not necessarily realize what the consequences are of having a terrible accident.

Because you don't want something that should have been a special time in their life and a good time of their life to turn into something, a bad time in their life, something tragic for them. And so doing that would be a good idea. Also teach them some ideas on car maintenance, on things that they can do to make sure that their vehicle is in good shape. Mainly looking at checking the oil, checking the tire pressure.

That's another thing that the teenagers don't realize how important it is. A lot of times a teenager thinks that if they don't change their oil and the engine blows up, they can pay $800 and get an engine. But now we quoted an engine just the other day, couldn't even find a remanufactured one, but you're talking in six, seven, $8,000 range on many engines now.

So it's not worth taking the chance. Go ahead and have the oil changed on a very regular basis. The coolant system serviced on a very regular basis, AC system, all of these things are very expensive.

And most good automotive technicians would rather service these and keep them in good shape as opposed to you needing something that's going to be very expensive. So do that. Okay. I'm going to go over to the next caller. We'll go over to Ken. Hey Ken, welcome to the CNC auto show.

And what can I help you with? Oh, okay. Yeah. Tim, what I'm going to do is I'm going to, if it's okay with you is first I'm going to read the tech tip quiz, and then I'm going to put you on stage. And we're going to have to go to a quick break. And right after that, we're going to come back.

And I am so much hoping that you're going to solve this heavy mystery that we have concerning this tech tip quiz. So here we go. Sit tight.

Don't move. All right. Boom. Bob pulled his 96 Chevrolet S10 up to a McDonald's drive up menu. Nobody answered, but when he pulled around, his food was there and it was exactly what he wanted.

How is that possible? And Ken, if you hang on, we're going to go to a quick break. We'll be right back. And I'm hoping that you're going to have the answer to this for us.

We'll be right back after this. The CNC auto show is brought to you by Behrman products and their total engine tuneup made right here in the USA. Behrman's total engine tuneup provides one tank cleanup of all fuel injector types, carburetors and intake valves. Learn more at Behrman products.com. The CNC auto show is brought to you in part by Dorman products and their latest OE fix flexible stainless steel braided fuel lines made with corrosion resistant braided stainless steel over flexible PTFE tubing for longevity and flexibility. Learn more at Dorman products.com. If you have a question about your car truck or SUV, you give me a call. That number is 800-224-9090. And that's on any Saturday morning, 805 to 10 Eastern time.

You can also watch the show live on Facebook. We are in desperate need of an answer to the tech tip quiz that we have. And we have a, uh, we have Ken on the line that I feel like might be able to help with us, help us with that. Ken, you are on the stage. We have read the tech tip quiz and you gave a shot at it last week, if I'm not mistaken. So we are looking for an answer today.

And Ken, everyone is looking at you to solve this mystery. All right. The reason that there's no person there to take the order is they have a computer there that you talk to. And the computer is actually taking your order. Wow.

Now is that closer? Is there a chance that that would be something that you would be able to say, uh, I said, nobody was there. And would you, would that mean no body was there?

No body. Right. It was actually you're talking to a computer. All right. Oh man.

Ken, this is so neat. You didn't, you didn't, um, hack into my computer and get the answer. Did you? No, but I heard of that system that they have over in Chicago.

If they're testing a system like that. Man, you are so awesome. You're going to answer all of it. That is great. You're absolutely right. Uh, when they, when they pulled around, they did make their order. I think they wanted a number two or whatever it was. And, uh, they, they gave their complete order. Well, they did, they did tell the order, but it was a computer listening to this order. And so that order was put out in texts inside the building so that they would know what the order was. So it w and you are absolutely right.

They are using this at a McDonald's drive-through in Chicago, and it will be coming to a drive-through near you. And in some ways, as long as they make the speaker where you can hear what they're saying, I'll be happy because for years. Right. I wonder if they do different languages. Uh, you know, they probably could, you know, that's a good thought.

I didn't even think about that. Ken, they can put a person can pull around and say Spanish, please. And boom, it'll ask them for their order in Spanish because it'd be just as easy. Yeah.

So that you added a new, a new twist on it, on the whole deal, but this is, but, uh, but Ken, there's no doubt you are the winner, but this is really some kind of exciting stuff. And in other ways, it's kind of a sad, uh, some sad stuff because there's so many, um, kids that got their beginning working in like fast food restaurants and they would, uh, they would learn to talk to people. They would learn to communicate, they would learn to, uh, get their own time, but now in many cases, it won't, nobody's going to get their own time because the computer is just there ready for a person to pull around.

And there's no one learning how to get their start. And part of this is having to do it's in, in response to the high cost of, of employing people. They caught the minimum wage is going up, up, up people wanting to get up, up, up. So many times it's, it's going to be to where you just pull your car around and you speak, and I won't mention something else that's coming.

And this is, uh, this is coming fast is, and here's an example. There's also machines being used right now at Jack in the box stores out West that are actually doing a great job of making fries and making drinks. So when that computer transfers that order in there, the fries will automatically go down and get cooked and bring back up and the drinks will automatically be made.

And they're saying it's kind of cost effective because they don't accidentally put too much drinks or too many fries in one. It's kind of exact deal. So all of this stuff is coming and Ken, you do this because you did some great research so that you could win this tech tip quiz and you deserve it. You really do. All right. Thanks Aaron. Well, congratulations on answering today's tech tip quiz. And I appreciate you calling in with the answer.

Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. We got an answer for it. Well, I got to do something. I am so glad that you did that, but we do need to, um, I do need to do this.

Thank you very much. And then this. Ken, the people are going crazy.

I got a little signal to bring them people in the room and they'll come in and they'll do their thing and then head back out. Uh, Ken, congratulations. You are the winner.

It sounds like you got a full house today. Yeah, we do. Yeah.

It's a lot, a lot, lot going on there. Uh, but you are the winner. Uh, if you would, uh, call CNC automotive this week and we will set up a time to pick up your, uh, you can come by and pick up your prize package that you win. Okay. I'll be in touch with you, Aaron. Sounds great. Thank you, Ken. Have a fantastic day. Okay.

The number to call is 800-224-9090. We're talking about springtime. We did get an answer to our tech tip quiz. That was great.

Thank you to Ken. Uh, we are talking about things that you can do in the springtime to get your car ready. Uh, we're also asking you to call in, give me a hint on things that you might want to do, um, or a trip that you might be going on in the springtime, but also a question about your car. If you have a question about your car, truck, or SUV, uh, you give me a call, uh, now is a great time to consider things like, uh, is your, uh, coolant due to be flushed? Is your, uh, power steering fluid, your transmission fluid is your AC.

How often should you service your AC system? A lot of these things can be very helpful on making that car last a long time. And for whatever reason, getting a pre-owned car now is very expensive. And in some cases, getting a new car, uh, the way that you want it. And if you pay that much for it, you want to get exactly what you want can be impossible because there's a lot of things that are a lot of vehicles that are just, uh, not being made right away or not.

They're not producing them and you may not be able to find one like you want. Usually ones are very expensive. So it just makes a lot of sense to take care of the one that you have. So it will last much longer. And what I found in the past is those that do a lot of these fluid exchanges, uh, for instance, coolant, uh, because coolant has rust inhibitors and things that protect. It's almost like spraying Pam in your cooling system, like you would, you would cook with it keeps corrosion from building up, keeps things from sticking to different places inside the system.

And it keeps it flowing good. So these corrosion additives and antifreeze just wears out over a period of time. And because of it wearing out after antifreeze, in most cases gets over a couple of years old, your cooling system can start gaining crusty looking stuff that will stop up the radiator, stop up the heater core. It can create corrosion and electrolysis that will eat away gaskets inside the engine and cause different gaskets to go bad. In short, it'll make it to where that vehicle that you saved a lot of money on in the beginning, cause you didn't spend any on maintenance. When it gets on up there, 150, 200,000 miles, I'll start costing you a huge amount of money cause everything will start going bad. You'll have gaskets on the engine and, um, water pumps going bad, radiators getting restricted, heater cores getting stopped up. All of these things can start happening if you don't take good care of that vehicle, uh, in the early days. So find out the things that are due for your car and springtime is a great time to do that. You may even decide to take a few minutes, get your owner's manual out and make you a list of things and you don't have to get it all done at one time. You might decide to get the cooling system service this month, the brake system service the next month, but you do want to at least have a plan that you can go by to get your vehicle in good shape. And don't forget the interior and exterior type items because those things have gotten to be just as important, uh, for the, um, for vehicles, anything else because of it being so much keeping a car vacuumed.
