Packers fans turn apocalyptic after losing to a Detroit Lions team that is better than Green Bay

Good morning, everybody. My name is Bart Winkler. Welcome to Into the Winklerverse, as I've got a lot of things to say and not a lot of time to say it.

Actually, I've got all afternoon if it's going to take me this long. I just want to talk about the Packers' loss to the Lions, like everybody does. And I titled the video, Packers fans turn apocalyptic after losing to a Detroit Lions team that is better than Green Bay.

And that's how I feel about what went down on Sunday. Plenty to talk about about the Packers. If you're hoping for the Packers to win a Super Bowl, there are some things in this game that you're like, well, maybe, maybe not, maybe not yet. If you're hoping for the Packers to be a good team and continue to grow under their new quarterback, I think you are still getting that.

If you are somebody that lives and dies with every game, you need to probably stop. Again, I'm Bart Winkler, Packer owner. I'm wearing a cheese head because the thing that made me the most mad in that whole game was the cheese grater guy. That's what made me the most mad, obviously. I mean, of course. Not that he did it, but that he was getting credit for it.

He's like the 3000th person I've ever seen wear one. And he did it like a victory lap. Again. Yep. That's me.

Take your little whatever. He's got people doing on radio interviews and stuff. Come on.

I have him on later tonight. I'm just kidding. So obviously that angered me because that's what I do as a Packer fan. Instead of taking my anger out at the team, I take my anger out at somebody that's much more on my playing field.

Some innocent guy who just wanted to go to a Packer game and he's a Lions fan on the road and his wife's a Packer fan, I guess. And just some innocent guy. That's who gets it from me. That's the kind of guy I am. Every criticism that people have ever said about me, it's true. Whatever insult people have ever said about me, they're usually right. You notice I only really get mad at the ones that I don't think are right. But yeah, there's a lot of insults that you could have at me. And being a petty asshole.

To a random fan is probably high on the list of things that I should not be doing. But I also feel like somebody needs to stand up. Somebody needs to say, Hey, I'm not I'm not mad at that guy as much as I'm fighting for everyone who came before him.

That's what I'm fighting for. So obviously, I'm, you know, reacting in a childish way to what somebody wore on their head. The game itself. As it always is.

I think I got on the train to that. Hey, they're in the rain. Packers elements, just the you know, 100 years of this team. And we have to play outdoors. So we think we're great outdoors.

Sometimes we're actually not. We've known that sometimes our teams are better on turf. You saw that in the Super Bowl year, the 2010. Sometimes our teams are good in both locations.

Maybe 1996. This team, I don't I mean, I don't know. I didn't think the Lions were built for these conditions. But they kind of are built for those conditions. And we were foolish to think otherwise.

How are they not? I mean, they've got the best one to punch it running back in the league. They've got a quarterback who yeah, he doesn't play outdoors as much but Jared Goff is good.

And he still does not get the credit that he should deserve even from people such as myself. And you know, I'm in Ross St. Brown, Green Bay, there is a space between the N and the B. It is two words. So if Green Bay sucks, it's Green Bay sucks. Or as all Cowboys announcers, it Green Bay. They're a good football team. They got a good defense, even without Hutchinson. They're they're a good team. So my main thought on the game fan notwithstanding, is that the Lions are a better football team than the Packers, something we knew coming into this season, something we knew coming into this week.

And yeah, they beat us not home what the third straight year, that's no fun. But we've got a ways to catch up. I think the Packers eventually can catch up. I saw someone tweet like, I'm still building where 2025 is my Super Bowl or bust year. I am kind of on that same path. Obviously you want it.

And it could still be done. What I don't like is a name I haven't mentioned yet is a lot of the backing away from being excited about Jordan Love, which is something that I do not understand why people are turning this on him. people have about Jordan love for him to have that performance yesterday where he was hurt the ratings not great the completion it could be better he had an interception didn't have any touchdowns it was it was one of his not as good performances okay overall what are people like I'm expecting better than that I also know that I also know that he's hurt which I think maybe maybe they should have started Malik no and then let him sit for an extra week arrest maybe I think with love we saw an MVP second half last year and so we are expecting that which it's hard to get to that point when he's been hurt constantly and I'm not making excuses but there also are some there's some plays like we still need to work on the line I keep saying about how he doesn't throw in the double coverage he doesn't throw in a single or triple and then I think that another twisted argument that I am making is that I don't mind him being somebody I'd rather have somebody that's like really trying to make every play and have to dial that back then to have what we got with Rogers where he was so unwilling to do anything that had risk because he didn't want to throw an interception I'd rather dial it down than try to dial it up that's the that's the spin that I'm giving this that's the copium spin that I'm giving this I still think it was I mean I shouldn't even say I still think it was worth Jordan loves our guy and he should be our guy and he had a bad game and we fight another day I think too many people treated this game as if it was something bigger than one game do we win the division no we're we're gonna are you gonna make the playoffs yeah we probably are we're gonna get home field we never were gonna there's no surprise here that's where I'm at Tim I he's still a second year quarterback so he's gonna make stupid mistakes he's gonna make boneheaded mistakes he's still gonna complete great fast you saw one yesterday so you're gonna get a little bit of second half Aaron second half Jordan love it's not gonna happen last year and still some rookie tendencies in him he just went on a magical ride last year at nine games so and I think and we're all doing it we're comparing him both to Rogers and love thank God that the guy plays quarterback in the way he does it's a lot of fun to watch like watching Rogers was one of the greatest things to see on walking Aaron Rogers throw a football just amazing but so was watching Brett Favre and Jordan love okay he's gonna be like Tim said he's gonna be a bonehead I'm gonna call him what my dad would call Brett Favre he's a cement head sometimes he's a fucking idiot sometimes and that's fine it's better than just watching Aaron Rogers piss games away because he doesn't want to take chances that interception that he threw was fucking stupid but he is in his second year like I see people wanting but Malik Willison is that honestly what we want to do you just got your fucking guy and he just started okay so here here's one or not here's one thing that then people get upset about is that well you just paid love fifty five million dollars a year and I am going to try to say in the strongest words possible that does not fucking matter what Jordan love is making doesn't matter it does not matter they have they figured it out the cap is fine it's not cost them anybody else it's not cost them any free agents they're not in a situation where it's like the Saints where they're completely fucked they're not in a situation where it's like the Cowboys where he gave Zeke a bonus and then Zeke left and then he came back and signed Zeke again and it's like double paying a guy that they didn't even let play this week and in and it I just I don't see where it matters this is also like how much quarterbacks cost so what did you want to give him 40 million would you feel better if he was getting 45 or would you not wanted this at all and then because there's some Packer fans in their magical brains that think oh no well we could have let him traded him got picks and then traded for Malik Willis and we'd be six and three right now the fuck if we would that's fucking at its finest Malik Willis beat the two worst like two shitty teams the Colts are shitty we saw that last night that was Titans are worse yeah the colleague Willis is doing what he needs to do and I credit him for that immensely and this is rehabbing his career we got to stop burying these guys if they have one or two bad years and it's just I don't know if it's I the reason I use the word apocalyptic here on this video on this and I haven't even played Madden in two months and I'm still fresh that was some of the worst play calling I've ever seen so all right anyway I got two weeks for my next vacation so all right well he's playing hurt like he's going out there risking his health for the betterment of the team and I just I don't understand the the vile nature of some fans in the state of Wisconsin and as far as the Bucks go I think Saturday night's loss to the Cavs was the best we've seen Giannis and Dame play together ever and I'm really excited to see what happens for them tonight and sorry I just got a puppy point I make is every year Matt Lefor is pretty consistent the first half of the year is a little frustrating and the second half of the year the team really starts to put things together I'm convinced that Lefor manages the team to peak in late November early December to ride like we did last year into the playoffs on a high note so like it's never fun to lose to lose at home especially the division rival but I don't know like it felt like that Kate we could have lost by a lot more points than we did and I I think that to me that that it's it is a small win but it's ridiculous that we're one in five in the last six games against NFC North Division foes at home like that that's something that Lefor should wear on his resume but I still think we're gonna we're gonna be a playoff team and we're gonna win a game or two depending on matchups so yeah and if we get to the playoffs we won't have to play at home so we don't have to worry about these conditions we can go to Detroit or who else is good right now Arizona or the Rams or now the Eagles that might be tough or Atlanta they're gonna be fun I mean I don't like that we were bad in the conditions I don't like all the drops they had I also think there's some games that just get away from you and it sucks you don't want to lose any game but games start to get away from you and you're gonna like you're gonna lose I don't like that Lefor does look like he's going to cry every time he said but I don't maybe that's just something that he can't control like how I look like I'm a drunk even if I don't drink I just look like a drunk see you might as well just drink then man which is what I've been doing hey um all right Dan Campbell is a fantastic coach we got it honestly we got to give him credit did we think would like Q was saying did we honestly think we were gonna win this one well I didn't I said that I would take I would until I got you know the forecast and then I bought into the well Jared Goff in the rain thing that he's never yeah and that gave me an out to root for my team but if this game was sunshine if this game was in Detroit if this game was you know on the moon I would have taken Detroit in this game I was always gonna win that fucking game man and I went into the game I went into the game thinking even if we win I was disappointed that we were playing love just because this game like whether we win or lose this game like we've already got six wins you realistically you need like four more to make it to the playoffs and we've got four wins coming in the bank basically after bye week and I did not like risking love in the rain irregardless of what like the health team said like it just doesn't make sense when the dude like he's missed half the games pretty much this year so I would have liked to see him get three weeks of rest instead of just two but is what it is I'm gonna drop guys thanks thanks for having me Bart have fun in Japan hey so Q is saying something about you know love being injured and here's something that I really like about the way that love plays is that he trusts that pocket so much and that's like causing some of these injuries like you fucking injured but he trusts that stupid pocket and I maybe our o-line just sucks now what happened exactly there I don't know well they're banged up to Myers was out I think I they have a buy coming up I hope love can get healthier if they're if they lose to the Bears this way then I would react differently yeah the Lions are fucking good so there's a difference there you're right the Lions are I you're like well we used to it doesn't matter we just we lost to a team that just like when they came and we got they got it one thing that needs to stop happening is I don't remember what happened in Twitter was all pissed at everybody for selling their tickets I don't know I I have spread your your take about Lambeau Field not having any advantage and with no ticket holders all the old motherfuckers and selling their tickets I've spread that take to a few of my guys in my fantasy league and they're like you're a fucking psycho you know it's like what's true though it is true take me I'm not gonna get season tickets so I'm 70 and then I'm gonna go and I'm gonna be every time I go to the game I'm gonna be pissed that I'm there yeah I like the last one so I'm only going to playoff games from now on out but the last one I went to is that 2021 divisional champion or divisional round against the Niners and I went with my like sister and she was in her 40s and she was like pissed that I was screaming she's like why don't you just sit out like fuck it Lambeau is not good anymore you know what I think a preseason crowd has better as a better crowd than regular season because it's families and everyone's just happy to be there yeah having a good time just having a good time there's no stress that I don't know that game I don't know you would have thought that I was watching that on TV and with the rain coming down I was like I would love to be there like I want to be there I'm still in that point in my life where I was at the game it was a solid wet time yeah see cam let's go I think so yeah I think too many people that go to these games either one don't really want to be there or two are so nervous about a loss it's just like just relax enjoy it have fun have a good time you're at Lambeau Field you you root for an NFL team that I mean basically green what Green Bay is Wausau or Eau Claire it's in the railroad town in the middle of woods we this there should not be an NFL team there every time you're in that building it should be complete and utter joy and only Wisconsin fans would find a way to be all sad about it the other thing I want to say about Detroit we got to stop giving them like every time they come here they have something to prove you know the two years ago when we could have made the playoffs in Seattle lost so they couldn't get in or Seattle won or whatever they couldn't get in they wanted to prove that they could knock us out of the playoffs last year they wanted to prove that they're good this year they want to prove they can play in the bad weather and we got to stop for Detroit coming here is like a pilgrimage to them where they can unlock a new level of them being good and it just always intersects at Lambeau Field and that that is gonna cost us every time well and with to that point here's the thing is that Dan Campbell has went in there and you know like Bears coaches like we're gonna beat the Packers that one of our goals is to make the playoffs and beat the Packers whatever and they sound like idiots because they suck I guarantee that Dan Campbell was like we're going to beat the Packers like we're but he didn't just say it that way he was like this division is ours and we're not gonna beat the Vikings and the Bears and we're gonna kick ass and we're gonna go on road wherever we need to and we're gonna fucking bite whatever is what is a bite kneecaps we're gonna stomp curb stomp and bite kneecaps and that guy delivers a message and he's a fucking good coach and I think and I don't know why I'm gonna get here but Matt Lafleur sucks I'm gonna say it I'm gonna stand by it I said it years ago I don't think he's that good of a coach he's a genius offensive mind but I don't know if he Dan Campbell brought an 0-16 Lions team and yeah and his purpose was like yeah we're gonna prove that the Packers aren't gonna get the playoffs so we're gonna go beat him and he made a team that didn't have anything to fight for fight and now look at him they're gonna win the North again and they're gonna go they were in the NFC Championship game they're gonna be in the NFC Championship game again and I'd be surprised if they don't make the Super Bowl yeah they're gonna make a Super Bowl and they're gonna lose the Kansas City well yeah fuck Kansas City I just the the message that I'm sure Dan Campbell had the message of fucking Green Bay fucking weather but he said it to his team he didn't try to win over a media room like all these Bears people do and the new head coach probably will do and you ain't trying to win over anybody except for his team that's the beauty of them yeah by winning the intermediate you will you will win the elsewhere uh-huh all right I got some Jake takes he says Lafleur having loved play last week and this week is another reason I'll never I'll never give him his flowers seemed intent on getting him maimed Jake that's okay I don't get it I don't either really really want them to see the Malik offense with Jordan Jordan needs to get out of the mindset that he needs to be Aaron or Brett fans need to get out of the mindset that he needs to be Aaron or Brett let's let Jordan love be Jordan love which is what he was for the last run of the last last season I still think the injuries and the mobility is coming into play a lot here and we've seen it affect his play also yesterday there were some drops but there were also some timing issues like he's behind a guy or whatever the Chris Brooks one I think wicks in the end zone but then like Christian Watson Christian Watson jumped like how I jump when I try to dunk like I can't do it but I'll stay I'll still I'll still jump sort of it's not even my full jump you're like Costanza trying to yeah you just swing it up there he couldn't touch the rim Terry says I am one that's soured on love maybe not rational but I was expecting more consistency in year two you're not getting that consistency because he's not playing consistently and out and out the whole season so we'll get there John says just get under center and run the offense if you can't play under center don't play him I know golf is more accurate but you're telling me love can't do a golf can I think that there was an argument to be made to not play him but he was healthy enough he's your guy you play him and you lose I mean what is it better for the team if you play Malik and they lose or if is it better if you play love and they lose cuz Malik Willis they were not beating Detroit yesterday with Malik Willis then then you would have said well Jordan love not healthy enough if he's not tough enough like Farvin Rogers then what the fuck why are we giving him all this money yeah dude that's exactly what people would have said it like either way people were going to bitch is because it was a loss so either way this was gonna be the result it didn't matter who started and but because the love started everyone's gonna be like well why don't we okay and I love GE but it was it last week before love got injured they were he tweeted something about like starting the league it's like why would you you have your franchise guy likes to go yeah I know and then he fucking runs and soaks a cigar and tweets about his bourbon god bless him he's so good but don't you pull you signed a franchise quarterback you play him if he's able to play you play him you don't get fucking you don't put Malik Willis in you just don't do it you put your franchise guy in if he's able to play the game they lost it sucks but the Lions are a better team what you're hoping for is that if you catch them in the playoffs that you fucking win a round that's but they're a better team all around I think one thing that might be bothersome is that the Lions did not play their best game and they still beat us not only beat us made us look like fools man so I think that I like I again it's your concern is where your expectation concern and expectation have to meet if your expectation is that the Packers are going to win the Super Bowl this year not like desire and want we all want that you know right if you're if your expectation is Super Bowl or Boston yeah I'd be pretty pissed after yesterday because we'd still look like there's a gap there between these two teams if your expectation is this is a good football team let's see what they do I mean is that is that am I not am I not that's what it should be why is our expectation why is Packer fans expectations Super Bowl or bust because we all watched the first half of the last year and we saw a dog shit team and then we saw them go on a run it's it mirrors the run the table year okay yeah so you see what you can do but why would you think with the youngest offense with Jordan love in his second year and him getting injured in the first game and then coming back and you win a couple games with Malik Willis why would you why are we thinking it's Super Bowl or bus like yeah I want it to be Super Bowl but this is Super Bowl or bus was with Aaron Rodgers and all those years and NFC championship game losses those were Super Bowl or bust years this is like we got a window right now and let's fucking hone some let's hone it in a little bit this is not Super Bowl or bus and lose our shit people this is we got time this isn't running out the the you know you're not tipping this thing over and Aaron Rodgers his time is fleeting this is a different story ah yeah so frustrating man well here's here's a comment from dr. Detroit you know team don't and after playing the Lions enjoy this week too oh I do know what this means teams that play the Lions have not been winning the following week okay so next week bet whoever is playing against the Packers but guess what dr. Detroit we have a bye we have a bye people forget people forget so they won't thankfully thankfully the NFL scheduling Lord's gave us the mercy of a bye after playing Detroit but that's a good football team and and and you know he said so did Dallas Dallas doesn't count they're a mess Packers Packers fans still I'm telling you this we're still cool with the Lions their division rival and all but we're still you know let's just keep it don't get all not there yet no not yet I like you still kind of like root for the Lions a little bit don't you um like they've sucked for depends who they play yeah I know when they play the Packers obviously not but like if the Packers aren't gonna win like I still wouldn't mind if it was somehow somehow I've ended up I've rooted for the Vikings like four times oh my god I root for them to beat the Niners I was rooting for him to beat the Colts last night because I'm like mad about the Colts benching Richardson I wasn't really rooting for them but I'm gonna say I was I was rooting for the Colts yeah take you got it I was rooting for the Niners for the Vikings against the Niners absolutely you know what I think I was too because well fuck the Niners man yeah everything about that team is disgusting all right well I have a full day of doom scrolling to do so I must get to that yep I I got to get I got to do some more work but Bart is fantastic to join a live show I miss I miss the Winkler verse you guys all rock cue I was I had I was at home alone I was gonna go on last night I was one to brown one too many brown soda but I guess that's never snapped me before it's never stopped me I can't even speak right now so maybe I mean maybe I'm still yeah all right well do it again man all right thanks thank you for all stopping into the Winkler verse I'll have more on this game and week six nope Jesus I am drunk week nine on a hole on the infinity sports network you could catch that week days nine to one central time thank you and god bless
