Welcome into the Winklerverse. I'm Bart Winkler. Carlos Ortiz is joining us as per usual on the Mondays. We do the national perspective, so we take a look around the sporting world. What's the phrase I hate?
It's like, yeah, that's pretty much it. Yeah, I did, and for those of you just listening, I did like two like semicircles with my hands to visually show around the world in sports. Yeah, that looks good. That looks good.
However, once again, national stories are heavily featuring our Wisconsin teams. Look at the stars aligning. A Wisconsin-friendly podcast, but we try to go national on these Mondays with Carlos, my old running mate. But a lot is a lot is in the news. Yeah, I'm the Tim Walls to his Kamala Harris, as in we didn't get the popular vote either.
So, so you'll be totally forgotten about within three months, and I'll try to make a comeback four years from now. Yeah, know what he wants. What was that SNL skit with the actual? Was it Tim Kaine? I think what was is like.
He's like, all right, here's a bonus question. Who am I? That's gonna be me in four years. I ran for vice president. I mean, I think in both occasions.
I think in both occasions, once once Hillary brought out Tim Kaine, and then Kamala brought out Tim Walls. Just don't bring out a running mate named Tim. Like that's the common denominator. They both lost not because they were women, because they brought out a guy named Tim. Yeah, and they brought out they brought out guys that like are easily able to call them beta males or soy boys.
Oh yeah, you got like Tim Waltz definitely orders a double, you know, shot macchiato, you know, chai latte with almond milk. Yeah, you got to be a man like me and just get your coffee black, and then guzzle seven of these. I was gonna say you just wake up and shotgun a beer. What do you need coffee for? Zero Mountain Dew, Mountain Dew zeros.
All right, so there's a lot to get to. Programming note: Once again, first of all, we're brought to you by Carl's Place. Shout out Carl in the game over in Milton. They've got a like. I wish I've got a video where I've gone there, but you guys really need to see.
Like, it is a golf simulator laboratory. It is really cool.
So just like check that place out, and they can bring those to you.
So check them out. Link in the YouTube video. And on my website, Bart Winkler Show, which I think we're now on a year plus of me not updating, but it is on my list. It is on my list tonight. I am going to go to the stadium for the watch party.
I don't know how long I'm going to stay there. Um, my kid is excited to go, but when he goes to baseball games. He likes to play in the kid zone and go to the store. He also likes to watch the game on the field and not just a giant television.
So I don't know. I'm excited to be at the watch party. I'm watch parties are cool, into it. But I don't know how. I don't know what a seven year old's going to think.
Now he might have some buddies there, but I don't know where they're sitting either.
So I don't know what's going to happen. But I. I'm not playing dad tonight. I need to watch this game, so I'll be there. And then, when am I going to start the post game show?
Maybe I'll be back here in time. Maybe I'll be in the parking lot. I don't know.
So we can start there. The Brewers are up two nothing in the World Series. You are a Cubs fan, as we've made it clear. Does it like I always say? Like I can't live in a world where the Cubs win the World Series.
Does it really matter to you if the Brewers win or not? I, if you would have asked me a couple of years ago, I would have said yes. I can't live in a world where the Brewers win the World Series, but I also live in a world where the Eagles have gone to the Super Bowl twice and won one.
So you also live in a world where your best buddy is a Brewers fan. I mean, I don't think my wife is a Brewers fan. She likes the Mets.
Well, she's your best friend. I'm your best. Buddy, oh no! You got to be like, you got to be the Jordan Love number on that list. Like, you're borderline 15.
You're my best friend that lives in New York. No, I mean I would hope. I think I might be your only friend that lives in New York. Burned all the other bridges. No, I honestly listen.
Do I want the Brewers to win the World Series? No. Am I actively rooting against the Brewers to lose the World Series? Yes. Will I be You know, so downtrodden and like have to end my life if the Brewers win.
Wow, which they will. No, I'm fine. You know, once the Eagles won the Super Bowl, all bets were off in terms of sports. In fact, I think we might even have it on wax. Accurately predicted the Brewers would win like two weeks ago.
So I I I hate the term term of team of destiny, but I used it for Milwaukee. And it seems like I'm right. Game one, I when we were talking about a little bit this before we started the stream, I was like, Game one, all right, you know, listen, Milwaukee hasn't gone there in forever. All the fans, home field, and all that shit.
So I was like, Game one, I that was like saw that coming a mile away. Game two is where I totally felt like, all right, this is over. This I understand, Brews still need to win two more games, and the Rays are you know the best team in the AL, blah blah blah. I'm like, this is over. One run here.
One run here, one run here. Death by paper cuts. I was like, "This fucking series is over." So my Brewers hate watch unsuccessful. I might be able to turn it around today, but there's nothing I can do about it. If the Brewers win, which I think they will, uh, you know, Mazel Tov.
Enjoy it, and um, it'll be a spectacular feeling. You will have the the ability to comprehend what I felt when the Cubs won the World Series.
So I would be happy for you as a friend, but I would be miserable as a sports fan.
Well, that wins seven, though, right? Yes, and in all intents and purposes, if it wasn't for a twenty-minute rain delay, Cleveland wins the World Series, and they snap their drought in like eighty-something years. Do you think it was a rain delay from God? Do you think God's a Cubs fan? Oh yeah.
No, I think God. You know what happened? I think God woke up a little bit late from a nap. Because Back to the Future, God's in a coma if he's gonna let the Brewers win the World Series. Yeah, the the Cubs were supposed to win in 2015.
What happened with the Mets was an aberration, and God, like again, he was taking a nap. He stirred stirred a little bit, which is why the Cubs got so far. But they were supposed to win in 2015, not 2016.
So he woke up and said, "Oh shit!" Hit the button, and now National Rain Delay came in. And then he's like, "All right, now we need to get all these guys off this team as quickly as possible." Oh yeah, like you guys won one. Instead of having this core that could contend, let's blow it up for no reason whatsoever. Kyle Schwarber, yes, we know you hit forty home runs a year. Why don't just go to Boston for a little bit?
Oh, you were a National.
Now you're raking it in Philadelphia. You never should have left the Cubs, but for some reason you bounced around because fucking Jed Hoyer determined that you were a liability in the outfield. Idiots. Yet a decade later, well, they didn't have the. Did we have the DH in 2016?
I think we were on the verge of it. We had to have. Let me actually. Let me take a look. We had to have been close.
Cause if if they didn't, then that's one thing. If this series ends up going seven, I'm gonna. That's not gonna be good. Oh, we weren't. Wow.
Okay.
So the the universal DH was a one time exception for the 2020 season because of COVID, and then it actually permanently started in the 2022 season.
So yeah, all right, but still, you let the wrong people walk. Yeah, now a decade later, Schwarber's still still raking it.
Meanwhile, Chris Bryant's not even in the fucking league. Addison Russell's probably still beating his wife slash girlfriend somewhere else. Um, who else was on that team that like just died? Hobby Baez is lingering away in Detroit. All that.
Well, I mean, the pitching was all gone, and you knew the pitching was gonna be gone. John Lester was on his last legs. You know, Jake Arrieta. That was, you know. That was Mark Pryor, like in terms of his like how good he was.
It was like two, maybe three years. All right, you're done.
Well, if the Brewers win, they might trade everybody too. It feels like it'd be like kind of like a Marlins situation. They're like, you know, back. Remember in '97 they won. They're like, all right, everyone, get the hell off of this team.
The Brewers are going to be in right in the same constraint, but it won't matter. Because unlike the Marlins, the Bruins are a well of the Bruins. The Brewers are a well-run organization, and they'll be right back. Ah, winning the NL Central next year, or whatever is left of it, um, with the with the impending lockout situation, which they're not talking a lot about during this World Series. I'm kind of surprised.
They don't. I kind of like it because you're letting this shine, but also they don't want it to be the focus. They they want something. There should be someone talking about it. You have two, you have two teams that don't spend a lot of money in the World Series, showing you it can be done.
Yeah, nationally, I mean, I be to be fair, I haven't really been listening to national sports radio because I'm not on it. But I don't think we would be talking about it too much. I don't think we'd be talking about the series too much. I feel like people are just like, okay, that's this is a cool story.
Someone's going to win for the first time, but I don't know if it moves the needle. I would be.
Well, I mean, you're you're right in the thick of it. You have to be. I would be working during these games. Yeah, yeah. I don't think there'll be no watch parties.
There's no going to Tampa. Maybe no. I'm not. My not maybe. I'm sure David would let you take a day off to go fly down there, but they'll probably make you do a show or some shit.
Yeah, so maybe God intervened. It was a blessing to not have a job, so that I could have these conversations with you, and then do my post games presented by First and Bowl, great event space in Tulsa near Mayfair Mall. You know it well, Mayfair Mall. That is. And when you're over there, you can try to go to Rally House or Dix and be able to not buy anything.
Oh yeah, you like Dix. I do like dicks. Sporting goods. I miss the ability to do drops. Sporting goods.
Um, wasn't dicks a sponsor for a while, or maybe they weren't. No, they weren't. I don't know.
We didn't see any of that money. Anyway, first and bull dot com. Eat those check. Yeah, I know. Where are we supposed to get a check for one of them?
It was supposed to be eat those. Never saw that shit. Never saw that check. Can they at least give me free life insurance? Seriously, I think I have life insurance somewhere, but I'm not really.
I had. I'm. I used to be worth more dead than alive.
Now I'm worth like nothing, whether I'm a zombie or not. Like, I have to switch that. I have to talk to Dan Shaney because Dan's got my car, my house, my yacht, my four wheel truck, tractor, my Ford F one fifty. Dan's got all my properties. He's got my beach house, um, in Omaha on Saint James Island.
Epstein, um, yeah, he's got he's got all of it covered. Check out Dan Shaney as well.
Okay, so it's hard to come back from down two zero. What I mean, you are going to Tampa if you're a Rays fan or not a Brewers fan.
So there's a little bit of hope there. The road team hasn't lost yet. Am I going to Tampa? That that has become the question. Am I going to Tampa for Game Five?
Will the Rays win tonight or tomorrow? Yes, I hope you are because obviously that extends the series. But um, I don't know if you are. I'd rather not. I'd rather.
I'd rather not. I mean, I want to go to a World Series. And I, maybe I could have ponyed. But you much rather have your team win it. And if they and if they do it in four, so be it.
I'm certainly not. I'm watching the results in case or ass or ass. I'm not watching like please lose so I can go to. It's not like Florida's right around the corner. Like it's gonna be a right.
I don't want to. I don't want to do the travel to get there. Yeah. I'd love to be in Tampa. I'd love for them to win it, and like, just that's the game I picked randomly.
I just, I don't know. I don't know that I want to go there. But I mean, I do. But I didn't need to. I didn't need to.
I could. There's still tickets available. Like the seat right next to mine is still available on the Rays website. How much is a ticket? It's it's at nine hundred.
I can't afford that. I was gonna say I'll go with you, but I can't do it.
Well, jacked. I was I bought it at seven, but now they can't. I don't have the raise, and then they jacked it up, and now they're not selling. How are they not selling? Because it's nine hundred bucks in Tampa.
I know, but you get the money. Like if you're in Tampa, you get the money back. I'm like I don't know. Then I got to fly all the way down there. Have a good trip.
There's, I still feel like the World Series. We already won it, and now we're just crossing the T's and dotting. Yes, I, I, I mentally believe it's over. There is still the fear, I think, from Wisconsin, but this team takes it out of you. This team doesn't let you have the fear.
They were down four nothing now in the playoffs twice early, and just came back.
So, if you are going to beat the Brewers, maybe you need to score four runs in the seventh or eighth inning, which not in the first, right? You are not going to do on our relievers. And Murphy, they're they're going to ask questions this week. If the the next three days is Ashby available, is McGill available? They're all going to pitch.
Yeah, Murphy doesn't care. He is. He's not like, oh, maybe I shouldn't pitch Abner. I'm going to pitch, you know, Chad or Shane Drowin. Not going to do that.
You're gonna, you're gonna get the A team every single time they're playing to win this series.
So, just the two games in Milwaukee.
Now there's a day.
Now they're back tonight again. I'll be at the ballpark. I'll get the post whenever. I mean, it doesn't matter. You guys are going to be up watching post game coverage every way.
Nobody's sleeping this. Yeah, listen. If the Brewers win, you heathens will be awake. You know, doing unthinkable horrors.
So Fox Six has got the games. They're they're on. They're on longer than I am. They're they're on until like one in the morning doing local news coverage. They have a great week this week because they've got the Brewers.
The Fox affiliate has the Brewers, and then they also had the Packers yesterday. Oh yeah. And then on Thursday, the Packers play on Prime, but Fox Six is the local affiliate that gets to show it locally.
So then they're showing that too.
So every night, they have Brewers and Packers, and then and they're just like. They're they're just they're just they're just I would think raking in the ad dollars. So, yesterday on the off day, that's the big story, I think, of the NFL. Um, I don't, I don't think it. Here, I got a comment that'll lead me into this. Mitch says, "I'm surprised that the national attention, the officiating's finally getting. I'm starting to think they are ruining the game on purpose and raking it in along the way." Yeah, I'm, I'm, I'm glad that I saw that.
I saw that comment too, and I definitely want to talk about it.
So, the Packers lost yesterday to the Lions, and Tyler Dunn put out an article pretty recently, as of this afternoon. Tyler Dunn, of go along, um, and here, here's his here's his title: "The Green Bay Packers did a fine job of losing on their own Sunday, which they did, but good grief." Somehow, officiating only gets worse and worse and worse in this league. Not that anything will change.
So, this is my plea to those of you that are not fans of the teams I'm fans of. That have an immediate comment of, "Well, you're just saying that because they lost." But I did a post game show yesterday after Packers Lions that sounded a lot like the post game show I did after Packers Cowboys. Packers beat the Cowboys. Packers lost to the Lions. Much of the shows were focused on the officiating, and how horrible it is.
However, like as the officiating is bad, so that taunt.
So, did you see the clip with all the lions like dancing? Yes, yes, yes, yes. Was off of the false start, right? Yeah. So there's a offsides, offsides.
Yeah. So they got the first down, and that really sealed the game, and then. Every lion like has a choreographed dance. One guy's hip thrusting, another guy's like pointing in a pack. Yes, St.
Brown did it first, and then they all kind of like followed suit. It was like this thing. Like, and I think that should be fine. I think so too. That should be fine.
However, my favorite word today. But last week, Matthew Golden flexed his arms and got a 15-yard penalty. And now you're going to have all of the. Not only you're going to have all of the lions doing this in somewhat unison, but then the NFL is going to take this clip. That that that's the clip I saw them promote the most.
That that that they they promoted a taunting clip, just like they'll promote hard hits. Like wow, look at this hit. Which I'll definitely put a pin in that one because I'm circling right back to it. But then there's so many hits that are not hard. That get called.
So, from a Packers standpoint, I don't think, I don't think the refs are out to get us. I don't think we're losing because of the refs. Statistically, the Packers are getting more bullshit pass, ruffing the passer calls against any anybody. Yeah, there's no question about that. But also, so what I'm what I'm trying to figure out is.
How much of that? How much? If I'm disgusted, Carlos, with the refing, how much of that leads me to say, man, this is just a bad product? Because I also think it's just a bad product for whatever reason. The game seems like it's taking longer.
It seems like it's slower. There are a lot more stoppages with the officials and the penalties and calls. It and big plays are like, okay, did this really happen? But even in a game like last night, I was kind of bored watching Seattle Kansas City. Yes, and I don't think the officiating was a problem there.
But what? But I'm also watching college, which is still football and basically the same. But I'm way more into college this season. Then I am the NFL, and I it can't be all about the officiating. What is it?
It it's not all the officiating. Arch Manning still stinks. By the way, that's my college thoughts of the day one. Yeah, I understand that. I still think Arch Manning stinks.
That being said, you know everybody's like, "Oh my God, the aura the Arch Manning has." Stop. It's one game. All right. That aside, I'm with you. I wish I could pinpoint to one exact thing that is like wrong with the NFL.
But I think the NFL is is should be genuinely concerned. I don't think they are, but they should be genuinely concerned because the NFL's big thing right now is is expansion. Like they believe that they have every single market market segmentation in the U.S. Like they can't do any wrong, not even the U.S. in North America.
They're like, all right, all right, maybe we need to work our way into Canada, Mexico a little bit more, but we're good here. We can't do anything more here. As the NFL in terms of football, it is king in this country. It is the culture, the lifeblood of this, you know, you know, continental fabric.
So they're obsessed with growing the game internationally. That's why you're seeing an international game three weeks in a row, twice in London, one in in Paris that we just had the Saints play over there in Paris. You're going to get another South American game. You got an Australian game. You're going to get a game in Tokyo because Roger Goodell wants to make that a thing next year.
The NFL is you know where they won't play, uh, where Antarctica because there's secret uh alien base down there. Yeah, you don't want to, you know, you you don't want to disrupt the area fifty nine. Um, but yeah, you're gonna get games everywhere outside of the U.S. because the NFL is concerned about growing their game internationally. The only problem is that.
Their they their product isn't polished enough here to to grow the game up. They don't have a good product in the states, let alone to worry about the the rest of the country. Again, I wish there was one thing I could pinpoint, but the officiating is a big problem. Um, what's the thing that we hear about the NFL a lot? It's a week to week league.
You know, things change in terms of like you know what team do we think is good, which player is going to be in and out, and matchups and all that shit. It's a week to weekly. We love the NFL because it's parity. Any given Sunday, apparently it's week to week, and in terms of officiating as well, the roughing the passer calls last week were absolutely disgusting. I'll I will circle this back to me being a little bit of a homer because I watched this game intently in the first quarter.
Camp Scadibo of the Giants gets hit. With a unnecessary roughness penalty, unnecessary roughness on a running back. Yeah, I saw that. He lowered his head. They called.
He lowered his head. So to be fair, the Washington Commanders complained to the league about this about Cam a couple weeks ago, saying that hey, he's like lowering himself, and like what what is the defender supposed to do? I don't know.
The defenders also lowering their head. This is what they do. I've never, I, I, I very rarely do see unnecessary roughness on a running back.
So I saw this with Cam, and I'm like, "Are you absolutely insane, ruffing the passers? They don't know what ruffing the passer is.
Sometimes we still can't determine what a catch is, but." Dude, the officiating is so week to week, and it's like we're gonna put emphasis on taunting in the first four or five games of the season, and then not so much later in the season. Like defensive a pass interference, who knows anymore? You sneeze on a guy, it's it's the spot of the foul. The officiating has like been so front and center this season. But it's been a problem for the last couple of years.
I'm, I'm just. I think the national attention is getting is getting to the party late. Like we've been, we've been partying since ten. It's one o'clock, and the rest of the country is just starting to roll into the house.
So why are we putting emphasis on anything? I, I don't, I don't understand. The NFL, they want, they like when that flag is thrown. Like, yeah. Every other league, it seems like is trying to figure out the rules so that it's right and fair.
This league seems to say, "What more can we do to get more penalties?" Penalties are going up. That's I think they want it for water cooler and social talk. Like they they they're like, "All right, so first half of Chiefs in Seattle." Fucking boring. I actually did not watch the second and a half. I understand it was a one possession game going in half.
I felt like that game was over. Yeah, it was over at ten nothing, dude. Kansas City just could not move the ball, and you know, and Butker stinks. Oh, he he's a wreck. And dude, Mahomes, I've been saying it for years.
Better than my kicker though. He's better than Trey Smack. Ah, don't worry, everybody's better than Dominic Zavada, who missed two chip shots yesterday. Oh, yeah. Um.
Oh, he stinks, dude. But like Patrick of Patrick Mahomes, I've been complaining he needs help. Like, yes, Kenneth Walker has been a revelation for the Chiefs, but he can't be down. He he can't catch the ball and fucking run every single play. You have to have some kind of receivers.
So that Brett Beach has just been letting Mahomes down. Figure, oh, we'll figure it out. We have Patrick Mahomes.
Well, the rest of the league caught up in terms of talent. And the Chiefs simply are not that talented. We should have pumped the brakes in terms of their Super Bowl run coming back this year. They're still a good team, but I, you know, they need help. Anyway, that game was boring, and it was over, and there was no reason for me to watch the second half, and I tuned out of it.
And then nothing to do with the officiating. The games it drags on, it drags. It was it was a pretty run smooth first half, but it took two hours. Wasn't halftime like fucking almost eleven o'clock on the East Coast? This game kicked off at 8:30.
Why is it so long? Robert says, "This is a good comment from Robert. Every other ad is for a betting app." Oh yeah.
Meanwhile, the penalties are going up at the same time.
So prediction markets too. That that's the big bugaboo. The sports books is one thing, and we do like our sports books around here, including the one that's you know a lot of money. I mean, we go we make these are um these are bets that are. These are these are bets that are ethical, ethical.
Yes, yeah. And the non-ethical ones, and and I'll call them up by name. I am not sponsored by them. Cow Cheese, Poly Market, you know, all Novig. Like these.
Well, that's that's just sports, though. That's just sports. Sports.
Some people, some people are losing their four hundred one k betting on wars in the bathroom. Yes, yes, yeah. Novig is just sports. No politics here. Just your, just you in sports, um.
But any case, yeah, these poly markets. Oh, I'm sorry. The poly markets. Hold on. I'm sorry.
I'm sorry. Novik is just sports. Ah, yes. Did you see the bar stool? Um, spoof of that.
No. There's a bar stool spoof. I, I, so this here's the thing. I'm not a bar stool junkie. Like I don't know half these people.
I think it's Big Cat, but I don't know because I just assumed it is because the guy that's doing the Sidney Sweeney part. Is a you know it's a big guy, so I assume it's Big Cat. That's the only name that I know. I have no fucking idea. Um, but it's exactly the same thing, isn't it?
What you're thinking of? Is it? It's a guy doing the Sidney Twitty. Ah, Jr. says Bucks over thirty wins, looking good.
Bart, not against the Bulls. We're off to a bad start. We're off to a bad start. Yeah, should beat the Bulls. You know who else is zero and three?
The Knicks and the Heat and Yanis. Dude, oh Miami looks bad, man. Oh, it's literally the same situation. We said it last week. The Bucks look better than Miami presently.
Yes, the only thing the Heat has on Milwaukee is the weather. Yeah, they suck. They they're bad. Bam Adebayo is not a superstar. We need to get that.
We need to clear that up right away. The best thing that he's got going on for his game right now is that he's you know knocking up Aja Wilson or whatever the hell her name is. But Bam's bad. Giannis basically.
So, here is what Giannis did. Giannis was in a long term relationship, wanted a divorce, okay, and then married the first chick he hooked up with a Cuban chick in Miami. And this chick is scuzz. This chick is this chick is not marriage. This is not marriage.
What I can't think of any words today. Yeah you you don't you don't you don't bring this chick home to mama. No, she for the streets, but now he's stuck with her. Yeah, and then now he wants to come back home already. He's gonna sign.
He's not gonna sign extension. He's gonna come back and play for the Bucks. Yeah, and and the rest of the Heat. Marriage material, material, material. Is that the word?
I couldn't think of was fucking marriage material. Yeah, sure. Thanks, Tom. Thanks, Tom. Yeah, I can always count on Tom.
So the Bucks stink. Bucks. The Knicks are zero and three. We got to hear about that more. No, there's not much to say.
I think it's just championship hangover. It'll be okay. Listen, it's the NBA, man. To me, it doesn't start until Christmas, and more than half the teams make the league or make the playoffs, so it'll be fine. Yeah, last night after the football game, I was watching.
I had I I did a DraftKings for the game. I can't even remember the teams that were playing, and I watched the whole second half. It was Kings versus. It was the Sacramento Kings versus. I have to type NBA because I have no.
Oh, the Grizzlies! Ah, yes, I remembered because the Ty Jerome, Ty Jerome was knocking down threes. You might want to try again. It wasn't the Kings and the Grizzlies. Oh, that's right, because it was the Kings and the.
It wasn't, yes, it was. Oh, I'm sorry, that's the Friday's game. Yeah, no, no, the yeah. Last night was Kings and Grizz. Mitch thinks the Heat are tanking, clearing the books, high draft pick and ring chasers, added next year.
So he's going there for a gap year. I don't know.
Look at all these different. He he doesn't he doesn't have the time. He's giving you one a game. He's giving you one sad look a game. Look at that!
Yeah, I saw that one too. That's great.
Meanwhile, some Bucks fans are kind of getting excited because they're like, "All right, we are tanking. That's good." Oh no, no, we don't have a pick, boys, in the first round. Let's, yo, we don't have one. There's no, there's no reason to tank. You guys are the Colts.
Can't do it, and we're in these games. They came back against the Sixers, and then they should have beat the Bulls. Should have beat the Bulls. Let my boys come back, man. Also, Giannis just saw Dame leave his hometown team, go somewhere else, be sad, and then come back and act like nothing happened.
Act like he got lost in like time and space, and somehow found his way back home. It was like, oh, it's the NBA multiverse, you know. He went into the wrong timeline and said, "Oh shit, I'm supposed to be in Portland." Oh yeah, Doomsday trailers during the World Series. Any thoughts? A lot of people are mad about the Captain America joke.
Yeah, no, I didn't see him. I haven't seen any of the spots. None? No, I haven't seen it. Do you want to know about it?
Ah, so I saw EJ actually. Um. Our our buddy EJ, he went on his podcast and like broke down that Captain America spot. I don't know anything about it, so while I look it up, why don't you tell me a little bit? No, I won't tell you too much.
Is this a spot where Scott Lang is like in that right cap? I mean Steve, because Sam Wilson's right there too. Oh, and people are on like a they're not doing Sam Wilson right tirade. But then John Walker's like, I was captain too for a second. I think that's funny.
I think that's funny too. And it it actually like almost makes like you have to you have to have making it worth while to watch these other things. And so yeah, throw in throwing references to the whole phase four and phase five that you completely. We're gonna act like doesn't exist, and then Secret Wars is gonna come, you know, demolish everything anyway.
So I will watch these spots as soon as we're done recording, and then people think that Steve is actually Loki in disguise. I will. I mean, we. I have theories that it's not even. It's not even our Steve.
I think this is a Captain Hydra variant, but I don't know. Anyway, I'm excited for Doomsday. I am too. We were we were both pretty low on this, but I think we're starting to turn come around. I'm worried about it.
The main worry I have is that the CGI is going to look like shit. Yeah, because Marvel's been doing this thing where they. Their third acts in every movie is so heavily.
Well, the big fights are happening in you. It's I know they're not going to be able to like recreate the Badlands, yeah, or whatever they fought in with um Endgame, but it's like oh, here's just some land out in New Jersey that's inconsequential, yeah. But in universe, people seem to know everything that happened in that. Yes, how? Were there were there TV cameras there?
I wish they would have been like, because if that was really happening in real life, news copters would be there. I don't know.
It's maybe it's just a movie, Bart. It's just a fucking movie. But there are there are some continuity and but Doomsday. It already looks like it's all CGI fest. I watched the end of Thor: Love and Thunder last night.
This battle they have with Gore at the end is so fucking bad. Oh, dude! The the fight scene with the kids—they all had Thor's power temporarily. That one was that was terrible. You know what?
Other thing is starting to bother me. All the kids have glowy yellow yellow eyes. Like, ah, look at the teddy bear shooting lightning. Like, it's fucking bad.
Something that never bothered me before about Marvel, but is it's bothering me on a rewatch. Um, is how they like go to different planets, and they can just breathe, breathe there. I so I actually so I watched. They don't even like do a thing. Like they don't even do like, oh yep, this air's breathable.
Yeah, do that, dude. How War Machine is casually walking around on on on Morag, where Quill's gonna go steal the Power Stone, and there's no fucking thought. About this air can be breathable. He's just walking around in his suit, and I don't know if this is even Skrull Rody or not because you know that hasn't been addressed yet. But just hop off the ship, no problem.
Ah, smell that Morag air. Oh, we got to go to Vormir. No problem, Black Widow, Hawkeye, you can breathe just fine. The fucking Skulls floating in the distance, but. Ah, that oxygen level hits perfectly here on Vormir as well, and the temperature is exactly what we're used to on Earth.
No problem. Don't even need a parka. Throw you down the fucking big cliff for the Soulstone, but you know you'll at least you'll be comfortable on the way down. And if you want to travel somewhere, you don't even need to know. You can just think of it in your head, and the Bifrost will take you.
Oh no, rock rocket knows every corner of the galaxy. Just jump in this ship. We're going nowhere. Where's nowhere? I I know exactly where it is, bro.
Just hop in.
So who's good in the NFL? Are the Giants good? I I think they are. Do we have a quarterback controversy yet? I'm gonna no.
There's no controversy. There's no controversy. It's JJ McCarthy for the rest of the year. I think uh Jameis Winston signed in signed here to be the backup. And yeah, you had him for a couple of games.
He had an opportunity to be a starter. You saw what you saw. I think the problem with Winston, other than the fact that he just had no accuracy whatsoever in terms of throwing balls into dirts, missing guys overhead, you know, things like that, not being able to lead a receiver. He can't run. He's a fucking statue.
And he cannot run the same offense that Jackson Dart and to a far lesser extent that JJ McCarthy can. Matt Nagy needs somebody that can be able to do RPOs and fucking get out of the pocket once the line starts to collapse. JJ McCarthy did not light the world on fire yesterday against the Texans, but the Texans, the defense thought was better. You know, they thought we're it was a top tier defense. Maybe they're not as good as we thought, but still, that's a good team.
I don't want the Giants winning to take away from the fact that the Texans were a good team coming into it. Everyone thought Houston was going to run away with this game. JJ McCarthy was not, you know, Jackson Dart, but he did good enough, and and you saw some plays where he needed to make something happen with his legs, make the right throw. He was able to do it. There's no quarterback controversy.
It's still going to be Jackson Dart. When they're all healthy and ready to go, but that's going to be the big question: if Dart can be healthy, because if Dart, you know, comes back next season, let's or let's say let's let's look down actually a little bit. Let's put a lot of fucking qualifiers on this. Say the Giants make the playoffs, which I firmly believe they're in control to do so because the division stinks.
Now the Cowboys could get things on back on tracks, but I I think the Eagles are they're done. They're going to start dumping people. They already have. And I think the commanders are, you know, too far behind the eight ball in order to make up real ground.
So it's going to be the Giants and the Cowboys if the Cowboys can figure it out. But we've been saying that for weeks with the Cowboys.
So let's say the Giants make the playoffs; they fuck around, even win a game. Great, they'll lose in divisional round, and and you know that'll be the success of the Giants. You know, flowers to John Harbaugh, culture, and all that shit. Yada yada yada. The the pressure will be so squarely on Jackson Dart in order to.
Basically, match what J.J. McCarthy has done. That if anything short, then you could start to consider seriously. Consider is Jackson Dart the guy? Especially if Jackson Dart gets hurt again.
If Jackson Dart gets hurt one more time next season, I think his career's over. What if McCarthy wins the Super Bowl? First of all, that's not going to happen. Might. If it does, you're getting a first round pick for J.J.
McCarthy. You gave up a fifth to Minnesota. I still firmly believe they are in on Jackson Dart, and I am too. I like JJ McCarthy. I fucking love to have him for a high-end backup because you see how many starters go down just this season alone.
So there is value in keeping JJ McCarthy. But if he balls out of this world, you almost can't blame the Giants for having to trade him. If they keep him, that still creates the quarterback controversy. But I don't think, I don't think, regardless of what success that J.J. McCarthy has, because we know kind of what the ceiling is on this this team, and the ceiling is just make the playoffs, and that's it.
Nobody expects you go any further. I don't expect you go any further. I think they'll do it with J.J. McCarthy. I don't think they'll do it because of J.J.
McCarthy. If that makes any sense, so I don't think there's a quarterback controversy this season when it comes to Jameis and J.J. I think that's over. I said that last week. I wanted J.J.
I got him. But next year, I think it's Jackson Darts. It's his job to lose, and then we'll see what happens. I played JJ McCarthy in a DraftKings. Not great.
Well, I didn't realize he'd be getting vultured by Jameis Winston on rushing touchdowns. Yeah, and but you know what? They kind of did that a little bit when Jameis was a starter.
Well, you got to think Jameis is like Jameis probably loves this role. He got to play a little bit.
Now he's back to being a backup. He can come in and just fall in the end zone and score. He can be the cheerleader, the motivational guy with the quotes, funny press conferences. Go, you know, make shit on social, but beat. Back up like that.
I think that's a great role to have. I love Jameis Winston until he has to play. We have the tech to get food delivered in 15 minutes, but we all have horror stories about buying tickets. The Game Time app gives fans the advantage. Get amazing tickets in just a few taps.

Terms apply. All right, let me look at the standings here. I have them up in the NFC, and then we'll look at the AFC. And one other thing I want to touch on, but if you're going to look at playoffs, so if you look at the NFC North first, everybody's got a winning record. Yep.
Tough as the Vikings. The Vikings are six and zero. Crazy. Bears are five and two. Lions are four and two.
Packers are four and three. I believe the Packers are a nine-win team. I don't care what happened. They've shown you what they are in the last couple of years. They'll find their way to win nine games, whether it's more than they should win or less.
They're going to win nine games.
So if you say, I think we can say probably one team's coming out of the NFC East. Yes, just one. And right now it's the Giants. There's no wild card teams there. One team's probably coming out of the South.
That could be Atlanta. Could be Carolina. I mean, the Saints and Buccaneers are still in it, so probably one team.
So then, the wild card teams are going to be between the West and the North. Yeah. So let's say it's going to be let's say the Vikings are in, the Niners are in, sure. Panthers, whatever. NFC.
It's okay.
So the wild card teams are going to be three of the four: Bears, Lions, Packers, Seahawks. Yeah. Maybe the Rams. Four. Maybe the Rams.
If you think they can turn around, but nah, Rams are shit. Miles Garrett around the corner. All right, fine. Add the Rams. Of those five, the Seahawks are getting in.
Yes. And then the Bears. It's the the North is just going to knock each other out.
So if a playoff spot comes down to the Lions, Packers, or Rams, it comes to your divisional matchups. Packers. Yeah, I don't either. I think they'll get beat up by the. I think they're going to win nine.
I think they're going nine and eight right now. Probably miss the playoffs. I mean, you're already behind the eight ball. Yes, you beat the Bears, but you lost the Lions.
So, like, I think, and then that's we're going to see all season. We're going to see these guys just take turns beating each other's asses. AFC. First of all, the Chargers are zero and six. That's insane.
How Mike McDaniel still has a job is insane. I thought he was getting fired last week.
Well, what about Harbaugh? At some point, you gotta let him go too. You can't.
Well, here's the problem.
Well, here's the problem.
You can't fire Harbaugh because who's gonna be your interim head coach? You're not gonna give it to McDaniel. I can't even tell you who defensive coordinator. Every time I look it up, I forget who the defensive coordinator is for the Chargers.
So Harbaugh's just gonna have to wear this one out. Yeah, let's find out here. Anybody at home know who that is? That would be. Chris O'Leary.
I every fucking time I I Google him, I forget who he is, and I am going to forget as soon as we get off. Who the fuck is Chris O'Leary? Not a real person, but apparently he is the defensive coordinator for the Chargers. He spent last year as the defensive coordinator at Western Michigan, so he's a hardball guy. And then the year before that, yeah.
The year before that, he was with the Chargers. Then went to Western Michigan. Then went back to the Chargers.
Okay, all right.
So in the AFC, oh, he's one and done. He ain't. He ain't gonna be at DC next year. Chiefs are five and one. Broncos are five and two.
So it's basically the same thing. The AFC North is all these teams over five hundred. Browns got another win. Yeah. How the Browns lose to the Jets a couple weeks ago?
That's insane. All right, so the AFC the playoffs are going to be between the Bills, Patriots, Jaguars, Broncos, Chiefs. That's five, and then the whole AFC North.
So there's nine teams still alive, really. Yeah, in the AFC, so you're probably going to axe two in the AFC North, maybe. Do the Bronco? The Broncos will probably get in. They, I fucking hate them, but they'll.
I'm not so sure. I'm not so sure, man. Do you think the whole AFC North gets in? I think three teams from the North could get in.
So who's out? That's the million-dollar question. Honestly, I I can't imagine that Pittsburgh is going to play this well for the for the duration of the season. Aaron Rodgers, it looks like a competent quarterback. But I give me Cleveland's defense because I think their defense is legit.
It really comes down to Cincinnati, Baltimore. If they can get some wins outside of the division, but I would actually put—believe it or not—I understand the Steelers are second right now in the standings in the in the North. I would put them as the team out. I think Cincinnati has enough. They made some great changes on the defensive end, uh, in order for them to be more of a balanced team.
And um, Baltimore, you know, Baltimore is is is doing this with Tyler Huntley.
So I think Lamar Jackson comes back. That's a shot in the arm, and Baltimore could start, you know, rattling off two or three wins. Uh, it's not going to take much uh to get into the wild card because this the AFC conference is. It's not a great conference. It's deep.
So you can see a lot of guys just kind of hitting each other, and nine wins will get you into the playoffs. I think theoretically.
So, yeah, I would take the Steelers out. Mitch says, "What are the odds the Vikings don't make the playoffs?" I bet that. I don't think it's a crazy bet, plus five fifty. I, I, I don't think that's crazy. You know what?
Look at the Colts last year, five fifty. The Colts were eight and one before Daniel Jones went hurt, got hurt, and then everything fell off of the fucking reservation. I don't think anybody thinks the Vikings are Super Bowl contenders with their record. Kyler Murray is still their starting quarterback. They haven't had Justin Jefferson right all year.
Jordan Addison Murray can't get the ball to him. Like well, that's yeah. Even if he's playing, so like Brian Flores, this is the greatest job that he's ever done because he is going to make a boatload, and his pick of jobs when the off season comes around, I think he's going to wind up being in Indianapolis, Colts head coach. But that remains to be seen. But yeah, their defense is the reason that they're six and zero.
They have not. They have no business. Being undefeated right now, so I would actually, Mitch, if if you got some coin to spend, I would bet your money that the Vikings will make the playoffs. I don't have money to bet, but I like it. Robert says, "Question for Carlos: Are you getting a hundred texts a day about voting in New York City?
Not a hundred, but I'm getting a couple, and they're all going straight to my spam folder. I will be voting. None of your business. Who? But I am a I am an independent.
So do with that information what you will." I mean, technically, I'm an independent, but everyone knows who I'm voting for.
Well, if you know who I'm voting for, it's Tiffy time. If you know who I'm voting for, uh, then um, then kudos to you because it's it's not obvious who I'm voting for. The only race that I will tell you right now is the governor race. I'm one million percent not voting for Kathy Hochul. I don't even know.
I'm getting a lot of texts for Amy Acton. She's in Ohio. I am not the only Amy I'm voting for. Is front row Amy? I'm not going there.
Amy Acton. I'll go to those Twin Peaks. Amy Acton sent me a tweet or a text, and I bitched online about Amy Acton. And in that time, I got another separate number telling me to give money to Amy Acton. Talorico wants my money.
None of you guys are getting my money until I know that you can fucking win and do something with it. Yeah, nobody's getting my money until you can make congestion pricing go away. I gave money to Kamala. That's why I'm voting for a fucking whoever the Republican governor nominee is. Get rid of these fucking tolls.
Ah, all right. What was the other thing I wanted to ask you? Oh, did you see Jalen Williams' injury? I did not, but ugh. Actually, no, I lied.
I so I did see it on on Twitter, and I was like, ugh. I don't want to show it. His leg bends the wrong way. Yeah, no, and that's my fucking nightmare because I I can roll my ankle just walking down the street. I like that's why I don't play ball anymore.
I'm get I will get cooked. I don't know that. What? I don't. I don't know.
I love the comments right now, and I did see that ad, and people are defending it. Let's the fifty-second state. Because I don't know if you all know, we have Greenland. Oh, do we? We have it.
What was the other question that I wanted to ask? Um, shit. It was not about anything important. The Thunder will be fine if anybody cares. Nobody does.
I don't know.
Jalen Williams' big loss. He's out. He's not out for like months. He's out for like years. Yeah, yeah.
That's a that's a career threatening injury. How do you ever mental? How do you ever mentally come back from that? I have. I don't know.
His leg went. But it's like a bolt of lightning. It was like zigging and zagging. It's the NBA. You can fucking fall into the playoffs.
It will be fine. Thunder will be there. It's really gonna bum me out. What I didn't remember to ask you about. I think it was in the vein of shit that doesn't matter is not important.
Nothing we do is important. That's why I'm not working. Badgers are ranked. Great. I don't think anybody in college right now is good.
Everyone loses. Everyone fucking. Let's actually. On that note, BYU lost top twenty five. Top twenty five, please.
Thank you. Rankings. My mouse doesn't work. I gotta go. Have you been noticing?
T here is a lot of chatter that like the grid's gonna go down soon. Are you aware of this? Yes, I believe it. Yeah, would really fuck me over. I can't deliver you my content if there's no grid.
All right, Miami, Ohio State, Georgia, Indiana, Notre Dame round out your top five, and the rest of these teams, I I don't think anybody's good. Like anybody's fucking good. Texas one, I don't give a shit. I think Arch Manning stinks, and they're they're eleventh. Do you like the playoff expanding?
No, I hate it. I don't either, but we're all gonna like it. Uh, it's March Madness in football. Again, the regular season is not going to mean anything. Oh, you won your conference championship?
Cool. You're you're fucking twelfth. Uh, you're a twelfth seed because we don't like your conference. Do you understand how many Sun Belt fans are going to be in Tampa Bay tonight? You think fifty fifty?
I about say you think more than race fans? It's very possible. Because most people are race fans tonight. Hmm. Most most most people who live in Tampa are Yankee fans.
There are more New Yorkers in Florida than there are in New York. You're right, because because we don't like what's going on. We need to go to the saintest land. He's he's gonna real take care of us. That's right.
Don't say gay was huge for New York. A lot of people flock down south. Oh yeah. Oh, brother. I'm not even being facetious.
Two of my closest friends bolted for Florida because of that shit. The fuck? Because they didn't want you teaching gay in school. Which hey, listen, I don't give a shit. I do.
I need it shoved in my face. No, but am I upset about it? Not really. Do you want to talk about how the WNBA is scheduling the WNBA Finals on the fly? Yeah, it's Ingelbert can't be out soon enough.
I mean that that league is a fucking joke, and it's and it's nothing to do with the players, man. It's nothing to do with the players, not the Sylvia Cunningham shit, none of that stuff, not the Caitlin Clark or all that other fucking political garbage. It's just poorly run. It is you. Everyone else the shit on Gary Bettman is being one of the worst commissioners in sports.
No, Kathy England is the worst commissioner in sports that no one's talking about. She is fucking awful. Her job is just to not fuck it up because she's basically Adam Silver's like underling, and she can't do that. It is awful. The WNBA actually is not a terrible product, but she just mismanages it unbelievably fucking easily.
Here, here's the update. Here's the update. Atlanta will host Game Six of WNBA Finals at State Farm Arena. On Thursday afternoon, State Farm Arena will host the WBA Finals game at 12:30 Eastern. It's unbelievable.
Which is 9:30 a.m. in Golden State. I mean, you know how much people don't give a shit about the NBA. Angel Reese is on the verge of winning a championship. It will be a double header.
Then the Hawks and Cavs are going to play that night. Why don't you move that game to the afternoon and play this game at night? Yeah, honestly, you, you, dude, Cavs and Hawks can be playing right now, and no one will bat an eye. This WNBA game is going to be played at nine thirty in the morning on the West Coast with their team in it. The only thing that the saving the WNBA is that they're not on tape delay.
Like when the NBA Finals used to be, it's it's it's a joke, dude. It's an absolute joke. Clown show organization. This is the funniest shit that's ever happened. It's fucking crazy.
It is absolutely crazy. Do you imagine? Do you imagine if, like, like the Brewers are playing the Dodgers and we played the World Series at eleven thirty, and it's nine thirty a.m. in the Dodgers for brunch. You are fucking having brunch, oh, oh, Brewers and Razor on right now.
Waiter, waiter, can I get another mimosa, please? I struggle to get up for like Saints Steelers on a Sunday morning. Yeah, get up, you got to get up for the WNBA finals on a Thursday. I missed half that fucking Paris game because I completely forgot it was on. I am like, holy shit, that's right.
I got, I got to finish paying for my bacon here. I gotta get, I gotta get home. I need Jalen Warren to not get the ball. That's insane! All right, hey, good to see you.
Best show. Got the brew crew fever? No, I'm sick. All right, but it's not the brew crew fever. When we do this show next week, I'll either be elated like never before or depressed like never.
Or your colons gonna be very tight, and I'm hoping it's the latter.
So that'll be fun. Go raise Carlos Ortiz. Thank you to you, and thanks to all of you. Remember, post game show after Game Three and Game Four, and Game Five, if necessary, will be from a hotel in Tampa or right outside the ballpark. I don't know what is going to happen this week.
That's the excitement of life.
So follow me on that journey. In the meantime, thank you for all. Nope, thanks to all of you for stopping into the Winklerverse.
