How you doing, old friend? Good man, thanks for having me. It's been a while since I got to hear that one. Otherwise, it was you and I, thinking like plain white T-shirts that I have of a very, very awkward picture of a morning show you and I did together. But listen, I appreciate that this is even later than the six a.m.

morning show that we would every once in a while get to fill in for.

So, good time.

Well, let's talk about that first because Billy's been huffing it from five a.m. to eight in the morning. Um, which they won't complain about because they're employed, but now you guys are going to the afternoon in the continual full Milwaukee shuffle of. Sports stations existing for half the day, but congratulations on your move. Thank you, I appreciate it.

It is very Milwaukee radio of everybody. You got every like six months, you got to change it up. You got to keep things fresh. Got to keep everyone on your toes. Everyone loves change.

Everyone loves change in our business and. Bart, like, listen. When you've known me for far too long to not know that, whenever they give me the microphone, I am going to take it and be very, very excited for it. The five to eight was was a different beast. That was definitely not something we were anticipating when they told us we were going to get to the morning.

But like everything, is you know this too. People end up finding you whenever you go live, whenever you choose to go live, whenever you can. The show just gets to exist now. We live in such a different time where. It's a morning show, or it's but it's a show for whenever anybody ends up getting it.

And we ended up finding that there were a lot more people up, a lot more people looking for somebody to talk, maybe at them a little bit more than necessarily with them all the time in the morning.

Sometimes you just want people. I think you you know this too in post game.

Sometimes you just need somebody to fill you in on what happened. I don't necessarily need to interact. I'd like to. I'll definitely tap in and let those guys know I'm listening. But sometimes it's just hey.

I'm barely existing before my second cup of coffee, so I just need these guys to talk a little bit, entertain, and that's been a lot of fun.

Now I'm excited to be able to do it after people's work day, from two to five.

So it's it's definitely a change, but like a lot of things, if you're not changing, you're getting worse. Get some more coach speak in there and have some fun with it. You guys are on 920 in Milwaukee, 1070. In Madison, that's not changing. You're just going to be in the afternoon starting next week, Monday, correct?

Starting Monday on what is very much hopefully a massive victory Monday across Wisconsin sports. Not only the Badgers can't lose, so win right there. And then, even though buy is tough, one of these years they're going to get somebody. And then hopefully we get some NLCS conversation and. The surprise of the last twenty years: Packers win as home underdogs against the Chicago Bears.

Who knows? I don't know how much Packers I want to get into with you. I don't know how much I want to talk about it. I'll tell you this right now. I get to chop it up with with Aaron Negler coming up in about an hour.

We do a podcast each week, and I've been. You give him my best. I think he's on the outs with me right now. I'm trying to get back in. Absolutely, absolutely.

I think he. I think he. He. He's. He's in with you.

But there's a there's an interesting part where I really want to. It's Bears week. It's Bears Packers week. This is a massive deal.

However. The excitement, the energy is too too squared on the yellow and blue that it's hard to not be thinking all Brew Crew right now. Does this make sense if I say this? I and I'll probably only keep you for about a half hour. I didn't tell you that prior.

Sorry, I'll give you a little cushion between you and Nagler. Oh, you're good.

Okay, I probably keep you late. Yeah, for sure. I if I had to pick. If all the sports teams are falling off a cliff, and I can only save one, I'm probably saving the Packers. I'm just—I probably am.

It's your investment. It makes sense. I'm an owner. Yeah, yeah. You have to save your investment.

However, there is nothing in Wisconsin sports I love more. Than than this time, where the Packers have to take a backseat, have to be humbled by the Brewers. I I I love I love days like Sunday, where you don't really care. I mean, you care, but it's the Brewers that they were the thing of the day, and that Packer game played out the exact way you knew it would, which sucks right now. I know it's Bears Week.

It just doesn't feel like it, and that is because of the Brewers. Also, because we're not that good. But I just I love when the Brewers take over.

Well, and it hasn't necessarily happened that much, right? Twenty eighteen, the Packers go into the year that they end up firing McCarthy, so they were bad throughout the season, and you got to enjoy at least a little bit of the taste of the Packers being a little bit more of the headliner. But you still have Aaron Rodgers. You're still trying to figure out why on earth they're not good right now.

So, so much attention was still paid there. You're right, Bart, that like now, more than ever before, you can legitimately square and. Focus on the Milwaukee Brewers because this is also different in a lot of different markets. Because I know the fan interest, passion, excitement—that's a hot conversation. The one thing is, people like to talk about the Brewers.

They follow the Brewers in a different way here than in a lot of different markets where you know most people that that you know. Talk about and discuss and write about and sometimes make a lot of decisions in in our business. Live in different markets where baseball is a pass by. This is where it's a passion. Just like in New York.

Well, I think like just like in just like in New York, right? Like you can be, you can talk about pitching changes. You can talk about pitching changes in Milwaukee.

So like that part of it, we get to talk a lot more Brewers. And right now. When they're as close as they have in a lot of people's lifetime, it feels to finally breaking through. It is fun that they are end up top of mind right now.

Well, I think I might have contributed to the loss on Tuesday. I was, I've been, I'm not saying it, but I keep being asked about the Brewers' chances, and and I say, all I'll say is that this year. It doesn't just feel different; it it is different. This for whatever reason, this year is different. And then we were talking with I was doing Grant and Paul yesterday, and and can we just say why it feels different?

And then Grant and I are like, because we're winning, we're gonna we're gonna we're gonna win. Obviously, with those first two games being what they were, like Saturday, I was convinced we were gonna get. Pork somehow, and then we win Sunday. Just an incredible sequence of at bats that will go down in like history to study how you how you hit off a reliever like that. But then they lose on Tuesday.

I did a post game show last night, which you can go listen to on your YouTube. And if you don't, if you haven't, go and do it right now, right after this. And a lot of negativity in the chat. Lot of lot of um. Oh, we blew it.

Oh, this was our chance. And I get it. I get the nerves. I get the frustration. But I I think that they're going to be fine now.

If they do blow this series, that'll be a new one. Because I was very convinced. But ultimately, I think that. If you're going to have a team that is not going to be deterred, like this team's a lot different even from last year, where they went to Chicago and lost twice and had to come back home to win.

So I'm not, I'm not just automatically assuming the loss tonight. Yeah, far from it. And I'm glad you said it as well. And and we kind of just harped on it for the last like three hours. It's a frustrating loss.

It's not a demoralizing loss, right? Like in terms of, yeah, you left eleven guys on base. That pisses you off! Unbelievable. Get eleven guys on base, right?

Like there, there's a way that you look at how many Billy, how many playoff losses have you seen where they've had none guys on base, committing six to nine.

So at least you feel like, at least you feel like they're not like I know Bowers was some Braille man last night. At least like you feel the team's not broken, like. I mean, Yelich is getting hits and RBI, big time. Yes, you need Tereng. You know, you need whoever you're going to play it for.

I'm thinking Vaughn's in there tonight. I'm thinking Lara's in there. I think everybody's thinking that.

So we'll see what Murphy does, but I think they'll be fine tonight. Yeah, and and the other part of it is you you came into the playoffs for the first time in a long time without somewhat and some kind of negativity just before some kind of energy subtractor like a Woodruff injury, a Devin Williams injury when he's sitting next to David Stearns a number of years ago, like that was the. That was the most disappointed and sad I felt for another individual when he had to sit on that bench and just listen to David Stern be like, "Devon's very sorry. He's very sorry." Were you there? Were you at that?

No, I just remember watching it on TV, and I'm like, "Oh wow." I think a lot of people have seen a lot of videos of this. That's a tough scene, but there's there's a spot where you have the feeling of impending doom rolling into the playoffs, and instead you've got production from your main guys. You mentioned Terang; he's been. Maybe their most up and down hitter, streakiest guy throughout the year.

So I'm not as concerned about him at some point turning it on. I think maybe the hit that he gets late last night can can hopefully spark him with something. But they get action. They had plenty of guys on. They played their kind of game.

They just didn't get one extra hit. The one that I was a little bit surprised about, and I don't know if you felt the same, was the guys they had on. It felt like so much of the action that they got. Especially on Sunday, was generated by their activity on the base paths, moving guys over. It didn't feel like there was as much of that last night, especially when Yelich gets on in front of Mitchell.

I thought he was off for sure, and then he doesn't go. Padres run in and steal. A bag that leads to two runs, and then they end up getting thrown out one time. Two out of three ain't bad, especially if you're going to cash in. But that was the one.

If there'd be any disappointment that I'd have, is not being able and not activating and trying to fire up some pressure because that place is a pressure cooker, and you got to be able to counter it as much as you can. There was an at bat. Mitchell's last at bat. His face looked like he would rather be anywhere else. And so I would like to maybe not see his face tonight.

Sure, we'll see what we'll see what Murphy does. We'll see because I don't know they've they've rode with him so much. And listen, Bueller, I think there's there's a lot of interesting parallels here. Bueller was the guy they that started against them the last time they won a road playoff game. He's also the guy that starts Game Seven against you and shoves.

In that same NLCS, so and wild time for pregnancies. I mean, like you look at it from the Padres side, Bueller was potentially going to start Game One. He goes on the paternity list, and then last night Miller ends up being out on the paternity list. And I have never seen they are the fathers. It makes sense as to they're living up to the name and their team nickname.

But that was that's a wild oddity of the season.

So these are. October babies are what Valentine's Day babies. That sounds right. Is that nine months? Yeah, tenth month October, second month January, little New Year's into Valentine's Day.

Everybody's cold. Listen, it's dry January at that point. You got to do something. Are you aware of your conception? Ah.

Ah, one of them very much so. One of them very no no no no no no not you making the baby. Oh, sorry. Yeah, no, I don't know anything about mine. I don't know about anything about when I was when I was planned up.

I was definitely. I think I was a little bit more of a last shot. Oh, I was. I was.

So I'm born in May, and then I did the math, and August is when I would have been conceived. Right around the time that my parents. Have an anniversary, and I asked them. That's good. Yeah.

Then they told me, "Oh yeah, that was our special anniversary night. We took a bath, and then we like they told me about it. Oh, whoa! Went through the play-by-play of it. That's what I'm talking about.

My uh, my was conceived in Houston, Texas. Let's go." Well, you're choosing Texas. My uh, my grandpa said the one time to my dad because he's born on May 10th. My aunt was born on May 3rd, and then like 13th or May 14th or something. My dad asked them, "They had three kids in May?" Grandpa just said that damn lake house.

Good work. I like that. The broadcasters. I don't want to even discuss. I I can't believe how much ire there is towards FS One today.

Hmm. Hmm. I. Are you hearing the ire, or are you disagreeing with me? No, I don't know it.

Could could you fill me in on it? I I have not been able to get and and generate all that. Even Francesca Hong was tweeting about the announcers. That's phenomenal. I knew the pregame show, the pregame show one, and I even clap back with like, "A Rod, come on, brother.

I know you were more dialed in on Bucks Timberwolves that was happening in Milwaukee than any Brewers game that happened throughout the entire 162. But I thought more of the pre.

So people are mad at Adam Amin and and AJ. First of all, everyone's mad at the pregame.

Okay, the pregame. But this is Jeter, A Rod, Big Poppy, like. They're like friends with Machado. They like don't care about any of this. They're not there to break down baseball.

They're not on MLB Network. They're on Fox. They're just trying to replicate inside the NBA with Fox baseball names. You know, so don't be mad about that. Whatever, but.

The broadcast itself, I love Przinsky and Wainwright talking through things. I think that's great, especially on Sunday. That was really helpful. And then Adam Amin, he's just too loud. That's it.

He's just he was louder on the Cronenworth home run than he was on the Contreras home run, and everyone's so mad. And I just think, let's not do that this time. Let's just not do that. We look, even if we are right, even if Adam Amin wants the Padres and is going to try to let us all know through his vocal cords, um, who cares? It does not matter.

And I just, I, I think I'm seeing too much of that today for my liking. I'm glad you're not. Yeah, and well, and I'd be with you because I think I think Wainwright and Piersinski, if you could. Swap them with Smolts. I would take the next two rounds on Fox with Joe Davis, Pierzynski, and Wainwright.

A hundred times out of ten, than with Smoltz, because I think that pairing, like you said, talking through different stuff, I think it's really interesting. I think it's what people, the baseball side of what people liked of Romo early on, where they can kind of talk through what is being thought of, and there's only fifteen seconds, so they've been pretty concise with it. I think as well. I like Adam Amin, but I guess I can see the the basketball side of him, where maybe he's a little bit louder than for people's likings. Did he do Monday Night?

Raw for like two months. Ah, that is a guy that I think was on MLB Network, but maybe he did. I don't know. But I think he's just—he's a little bit live for sure. Um, but I thought his his Churio highlight was as good as any of them.

If you went through Shambies, the Meet the Moment, the call I thought was really really good.

So I liked the broadcast, but I guess you know, I did. Turn on Jeff and Lane last night just to try to get a couple of superstitions rolling. See if you could change up some stuff. Then Cooper Pratt throws the ball under the ground and it gets by.

So it didn't work as well as I had hoped it would to turn on the hometown guys. But I danced around a little bit of it.

So I'm I'm with you though. Let's just not do that and be more focused on how do you hit Morrahone again tonight when hopefully his shoulder stickiness. Is uh is better. The Winklerverse brought to you by Happy Place Hemp promo code Bart twenty five percent off each and every order. They are back as gummy of the day.

Happy Place Hemp got gummy of the day for me for sixteen hundred and thirty five days on this podcast. The last three days, however, I had to give gummy of the day to the Miralax gummies I've been taking as I have I've been unable to poop. For a week, hey consternation and constipation—couple of things that playoff baseball brings you. I'm happy to announce I had a wonderful BM. Um, very messy.

But we're back on Happy Place Hemp for gummy of the day promo code Bart. We're also this is episode 763 of the Winkler verse. 763. Goodness gracious!

Okay, let's ride. Who's going to get the lucky seven seven sevens? I I I said Tapato. I said you want to do something. I'm chasing the seven seven seven.

You want to do something? We're going to do a we're going to do an event there soon. Phenomenal! Great call. People are going to have the chance to watch a Bucks Heat game with me and Tim Shea.

Oh, let's ride!

Now we're talking.

Okay, with tab, with tab, at the Potawatomi Sports Book.

Now we're talking.

Your Sport, Our Stadium. I love that. I love that sound of a prize. And I will be going there. I don't know about today.

Today I'm running around town to go to these different pop up gas stations, and I'm going to buy something from each. The little pop up merch stands. Yeah, I love that. There's Armin. Armin was wondering if the team would get a cut of that because if you if you know my boy Armin, he is only looking for financial frugality.

He there's nothing he likes more than saving money.

So he wanted to know: is that a place where you think the Brewers are getting cut of that deal? I can't imagine so, but I'm glad that you're gonna go and support these spots.

So he wants the Brewers to get a cut. I think he was wondering if they were. Otherwise, they were going to send cease and desist letters. I was like, I don't think these guys necessarily operate on those, but we'll see.

Well, I showed this one last night, and I'll show it to you here on the Dan Shaney YouTube stream. Here is one of the tents. You there?

So this Milwaukee logo right here in the middle. Yes, it's like the old. Wheat and barley logo, but then through an AI filter to like erode any copyright issues, right? To clear every potential hurdle that they would get. I love that because that is that's the logo logo of my youth.

I appreciate Milwaukee across the front of it. I also like the somewhat knockoff version of blue in the Yelich jersey they have right there. Of let's just slant. The letters upward, then there's no problem. They can't be mad at us.

There's how much do you think they're charging? How much do you think you're charging? Oh, I got. You're not getting a t-shirt out of there for under twenty five bucks. No.

Right. It's at least at least twenty five bucks.

Well, I'll do two for forty five. Because that's what I'm going to do. I'm gonna I'm gonna go. I'm going to 84th in Layton. I'm going to that one.

I'm gonna go to. I think there's one on Blue Mound. There's usually one by me on Capital.

Now my question is: Do these guys also have the shirts that, like, every stadium for a good three or four years had of, uh, you know, somebody sucks, and then on the back of, bitch, I'm a, either bitch, I'm a brewer, like every every stadium I went, I went to a Packers Bengals game in Cincinnati, and it was bitch, I'm a Bengal on the back.

So I think every single stadium had those. I would like to know if they have always in the same bitch font. Yeah, always. The same font right on the back, so they have to have something of that. I I wonder if they made these new or if this is also from the last playoff run.

Like Yelich has been there for a decade, that could be. Yeah, they might have to. They do. They do have to freshen it up a little bit. They they might have to.

I mean, they could get some Aaron Ashby's in there, and they'd fly off the shelves. I think that. Find a couple of just nondescript random ones. You know that it's they're not getting a cut if they throw Jake Bowers in there because as good as he's been, I don't see anybody rocking at number nine.

Well, I'm I'm gonna do a full report today. I'm gonna be that's awesome. I'm gonna leave my house for one of the rare times ever. I like how people can't insult me without saying that I'm in my basement. Like who cares?

I'm in my basement. And that where most people's offices are. I mean, mine was in the upper level, and then we had to move that for another kiddo. But I think everybody's hanging on their basement.

Now this is like the basement of the radio station, that otherwise is just the cavernous spot that nobody has gone into. That I had to actually get Windows Seven updated on the computer to make sure that we were able to do this. And like all radio stations, 15 years ago, that was somebody's office who made four hundred thousand dollars, just buzzing every day, buzzing every single day. I do like the little layer that it has in here, though. Good bunker mentality feel.

I like it. I like when we just laid off our production guys and then. Like I didn't notice any change, though. It was like, oh, maybe that was, maybe that was doable for the company. They could have found a way.

Do you remember? Do you remember the call I made to you guys in 2018 post game when we lost? Ah, when they lose in game seven. Yeah, that was into hour number like three, I think, of that post game show where. I referenced this call a lot.

I was just looking for it. I can't find it, but I called you guys. They had lost, and I was mad. Of course, I don't call when I'm happy, but I was mad because I thought people just assumed we'd be back here. I do.

I do remember you being more angry now than like proud of the boys and proud of the season that we got a lot more of that night. Yes, and and and it's fine to be proud of the boys, but it's also I think it's very too quickly. Like it's the optimism is obviously if anyone hates Wisconsin fans as a whole, it's me, me. I I there's a lot I don't like about you people. Got a lot of problems with you people.

That's what this is a festivus. Yeah. So what really pisses me off? I'll do a Packer thing here for a second. Because when they lost to the Eagles, remember that very much.

Yep. Even I did got on here and I was like, "Okay, we weren't going to win that game next year." Even I did that. And then last year, they lose after being up twenty-one-three. And then I thought too quickly. People are like, "Well, next year Parsons and Kraft." Okay, now this year, people are already like, "Oh, well, now we have too many injuries." You know, next year, we we got to stop with the next years.

And yes, Matt Lafleur needs to be fired. He's a terrible person. I'll just say, coach for the time being. But the Packers—they've told you we're good with this. There, what you've seen in this last month is what Ed Policy signed up for.

That's my, that's my actual take. And my actual take is, I think Policy is a plant trying to get us a real owner. And that's my actual take.

Now, do you got any tinfoil underneath that sweet into the Winkler verse hat? I like that one. That's some, that's some, that's some sweet, sweet, deep-rooted superstition or deep thought on the conspiracy. I like that one. You like the swag though, very much so.

Because this is now multiple times that I've commented on your hat. You were the first that I saw of anybody actually with. The UWM state of Wisconsin with the M hat, which makes sense. You should be their official spokesperson. I don't know why you're not yet, but I've seen more people wear that hat than I thought I would because you could buy it.

They not online. You could buy it. You couldn't online when they were playing in the playoff. I'm sitting there on my couch watching the SEC Network for God knows what reason, and I'm I'm fired up. I'm like, I got to get this hat.

This is the coolest thing I've ever seen. Couldn't find it, and then you know, out of sight, out of mind. Sadly, and I definitely should go down to the bookstore and get it, and then maybe an Oakland Euro. But I had not seen anybody rocking it. But you're right.

I have seen even Nag's has one that he might be busting out later on.

So I'm. You are right. More people have worn it than I thought because. It's a good one, but I apologize for stepping on your on your your back and forth. the The thought with the Packers signing back up for it, because it is a strange situation for them to be.

Listen, I haven't twenty years, and rightfully so. Home underdogs to the Bears. There's an urgency that to your next year coming, I think has been somewhat pushed off to the side with the thought of you're getting into a new era, you're getting into a freshness, a new a new reboot, and then all of a sudden you win a playoff game in year number one of love starting, and then it kind of changes the thought process of okay.

Now we're really good, so now we'll just continue to be into the mix and to not move forward. I agree that you would think, like, hey, at some point the the urgency gets ratcheted up, especially when the GM says, "I think it's time to now start competing for championships." I don't know, and maybe they would know more of it. I don't know that this was as foreseen as it probably could have and should have been. If you look at where they're at right now, they're bad because the the decisions they made in the off season, Bart, kind of more doubled down on what you had seen than anything. Like the banks off the offensive line gets really rooted into the Eagles game that you mentioned, where they lose to Philadelphia while the fans I think looked at it and said you weren't going to win that game.

Their actions were quite different. They basically flipped the entire offensive line outside of Zach from that game because they couldn't find anybody after Elton Jenkins got hurt to block Jalen Carter.

Well, that team ended up winning the Super Bowl going away. And Packers said we got to get bigger and more physical. And not many of, if any, of their offensive line questions or answers from that day. Have proven to be totally great. I think Jordan Morgan can play, and I think he's getting better, and I think he's going to be good.

But right now, not yet. And with a revolving door of different guys next to him, there's only so much better you can get.

So I I'm with you that the urgency thing is different because very quickly that 2018 Brewers team turned into the 2020. Three or four Detroit Detroit Lions. Where oh, we'll be back. We'll be back. And that's why.

And now it's ten years later, and you're not. That's why I called your show, yelling at children, um, and fighting them on Twitter online. You did follow up a really sweet young kid that was like at the game with his dad. Maybe it wasn't right after, but he almost started breaking down, crying, and then you came in like, "I don't want to hear his nonsense. I hear his." I like the card.

That's what we're missing more of in this town. I like the Cardinals call a lot more when we may or may not have gotten slapped on the wrist for how much you were just handing around the phone, getting people onto the show, and and running rough shot through that post game reaction. How would you get slapped on the wrist for that? That was the best radio I've ever done. No, no, not not like slapped on the wrist.

More of like where teams were like, "Wait a second." We got locked. We got locked. Our our boy was in there just giving the the best information to somebody that may not have been an entitled right.

So the the guidelines I think changed because you were so dominant locker room. Oh yeah, hundred percent, hundred percent. The ability of live interviews I believe in the post game changed significantly after that year. I don't know if it was more 2020 worthy because of me. Definitely changed.

I mean, yeah, you can take. You should take more of the credit. You should take all of the credit, actually. But I do believe that style definitely not as allowed anymore. I just walked around with my cell phone and said, "Here, David Stearns, you're on the radio.

Here, talk to our post game show. Tim and Billy are standing by with you. It was phenomenal. You got like ten or twelve people. Council Stearns.

It was amazing. Yeah, that was fun. That was so good. Then I had, then I saw Ba just hanging out. I brought him on the field for you guys.

That was fun. That was a great time. Yeah, that was a that was a high point, and then it was pretty much downhill from there. I had a I had a quick up with the parade chairs, and now, and now we're back down to whatever.

Well, let's be honest. You calling a title what a month before it happened? Wasn't that during the net series that you put the parade chairs out? No, I didn't do that till the finals.

Okay.

Well, but during the net series, they were down three two, and I said, "Guys, my whole angle was I'm better at watching playoff basketball than you because I've been intently watching the Warriors for the last six years." Sure, I know more about this than you. Sure. Yeah. So it wasn't. It wasn't.

It was a feeling, but it was also me claiming to be a better person slash fan. Which I was right, so I put the chairs down when they were down zero two. I said, "Screw this! We're not losing to the Suns. We'll win for the next five.

We're gonna have a parade five blocks from where I set my chairs, but I'm close enough." You oh, so you ended up not being right on the parade route.

Well, the city kept stealing my chairs. A. And then you had to put worse chairs out there, put good good stuff out there. People are gonna take it. Then there was one day I just bought chairs and did a video where I cut out the middleman and just threw him in front of City Hall.

And I was like, "Here, have these. Take them. You're welcome. There they go. You're fine." I spent fifty bucks.

On on a twelve second video to throw. Hey, somebody in the chat saying they took my chairs too. Corey, come on now, how rude! Corey got on the news with me. Oh my God, that's good.

Ah, this is a non sequitur. What do you call the place at the Brewers Stadium where you can buy apparel? Team store. Yeah, I called it the Pro Shop the other day. Oh, okay.

Because the Packer Pro Shop is where the Pro Shop. Mhm. Nice tagline. That's well done. That's what it is.

That is exactly what it is. I was.

I. I don't know. I thought that maybe I'm the only one that does that.

Well, and it's funny because it says Bucks Pro Shop. I took my little guy to the preseason game on Monday night, and he walks by and goes, "Is that the team store?" So again, it might just be you just immediately sync it up. He goes, "I don't know what I might want in there." I'm gonna tell you what what it is the the escalator because we're gonna go right up past this thing potentially and bypass. But yeah, so I'm I say Team Store, but it's also because you know I just want to make sure that I never turn down any possibility if if they ever wanted to let us know on the radio show how people could go to the Team Store and maybe save some money, we'd definitely be interested.

So, but I think I think I just use it because I end up. Trying to hit every tagline imaginable because I want everybody to end up getting paid. Like I end up giving people titles generally when we have guests on, and just elevate their title.

Somebody's a director, they then become executive director, right? You just add one word and it makes it sound a lot better. That's why I told everybody who's ever produced with me. You are the executive producer. An executive producer.

Congratulations! You're now the director of producers. And they're and I'm like they're like no I wasn't and I'm like well then who was? You know what every company potentially needs more VPs, vice president of producers. I've given that one a couple of times too.

You you are the VP of producing on in this building. Congratulations! I gave myself a promotion once when I was in Fondy. The morning guy and program director was out, and I was the afternoon guy, and it was a decision of: Are we going to hire a new morning guy, or are we going to give Bart the morning show? He's only been here for three months, and so I just started signing because I had to fill in anyway.

So I just started signing my emails: morning show host and program director.

Well done. Yes. And then and then I just then they just never hired anyone and then I just ran with that.

Well, as they say, you got to dress in a dress for the job that you want, not necessarily the one that you have. I like that you you got gifted it, so I might as well let everybody know about it. But I I'm with you though. Wherever it ends up, the Brewers team store for however much their merch is running through. I haven't seen as many people.

I don't know if you're seeing it running. For the DS merch, it does appear though that there is a confidence and a wait to get to the team store to get all of the exciting super special playoff merch.

Well, and that's kind of what I've been trying to figure out and see if you feel the same way. Is I didn't rush to go to a DS game. Um, I'm not going to rush to go to a CS game. I'm saving it. Hmm.

And I do think this year does feel different. And what I mean by well, what would be different about this year than the other years?

Well, they would go a little farther. Do you feel that? Yeah, I totally do, and I feel a lot of people being a little bit more forward-thinking in that variety to the point where, like, immediately people think of the the fan excitement or the the question of what people are doing inside, and they're like, "Well, it's only going to get worse when it gets later into the the playoffs. It's only going to get worse when it gets the World Series." I think there's a lot more people like you that are saying. I know that I need to be in that stadium when they actually break through and get there.

So I'm gonna hold, hold, hold until they get there, and you will actually have a crazed amount of fans that have been waiting their entire lives for it. Not just the super special high fashion crowd that I think a lot of people plan will be a part of the World Series. But I, I'm with you. I have not.

Now I hadn't been to. Just because of like the run in eighteen when we were doing the show, and then happenstance with different games and such that we were working, I hadn't been at one of the playoff games since game one of the LCS twenty eleven with my folks.

So I ended up blowing it out two days ago and grabbing game two and game seven tickets for the LCS just in case.

So, but that's the plan: is that they're there. And then you see what ends up happening with it, and and you know maybe that deposit of Game Seven just gets rolled over and used as credit for what is the next round's tickets. I feel like a lot of people feel this year's different, and then they lost a game, and now people are like, "We do the thing here where we we don't want to be scarred in the moment, so we pre scar ourselves." So that the moment we lose, it won't hurt as much, because we're building up the pain, and we do that a lot, and protect our feelings. Yeah, protect your feelings.

So if you would have done that in twenty twenty one with the Bucks, you just wasted a lot of time worrying, and then when when they won, it was more of a relief to you than it was joy. I'm trying to take joy this time, and if they lose and it doesn't work out. You know, better luck in twenty twenty.

Well, let's say eight. Mm hmm.

Well, and that's where.

Well, I almost said Dolph. That's where Bart. In the midst of it, you're you're right on the early up. That's where you're right on trying to figure out why there's a a holdover or a holdback because. People do always want to cautiously be a.

I don't want to build myself up and have my heart broken. That's what this is all about. That's what entertainment and sports are. You build yourself up, you throw yourself into it and enjoy it, and then you can go on to next year. If you put your best foot forward, the chips that fall and and the ball doesn't bounce off the roof, you're in your favor.

Does feel like they're getting a couple of bounces. Relatively speaking, than they haven't in years past, and and I'm with you. I think they win tonight, and I think that they don't play game five, and they come back.

Next game is an incredible Sunday, where it's Bears Packers as the appetizer, and then NLCS game one at night, and it is an electric atmosphere there in the parking lots. Everybody listening to Packers OT in the parking lots, by the way. I like. I like, I like. Don't remember what I was gonna say.

I like don't. I don't remember. I was so enchanted in thinking. Because I didn't stop talking. Packers.

Well, I was thinking about Packers OT. I was thinking about that.

Well, listen. I know you love our Toyota Turning Point. You get very excited when we let you know that Ivy there's a helpful smile in every aisle. I know you love the show, so I appreciate that. I know that you're listen.

People don't give you enough credit for how much you love Milwaukee radio now, and continue to back people. Because wasn't it just Infrastructure Week a couple of weeks ago? With who? No, you just people think that there's always a breaking down. There's a building up and a infrastructure week coming from Bart Winkler forever.

Just a nonstop one. I like that a lot. And I've I have reached out to some that have said now's not the right time.

Well, that's good. Come on now, look at that hand reaching out, Steve. Touching you, touching me. Zab. Zab is like it's not the right time.

Not the right time. That's awesome. Listen, I just want you to know I always got time for you because you always had time for me. Bart gave me one piece of advice when I was very, very early on in in my broadcast life, where he said, "You're too young to be this jaded." Every time you tell me that, and it's one of my it's one of my favorite things that I've heard for so long. You're way too young to be jaded, so I've kept that.

I just want you to know that it is it is rung true into my mind that I got to be happy and excited because I'm way too young to be jaded. Even though I think I was 23 instead of 32 when you told me that, but I'm still I'm still trying to buy into it.

Well, Billy. I mean, there's few without the natural talent that you have. There's few with it, the natural talent that you have. I don't know what that is, but I appreciate that. It's very nice of you to say.

Very nice of you to say. Coming in there and you know, just hating everybody like I did.

Well, I sat next to you. The after the show, it was hard. It was hard not to get some of it. It was fun. It was oozing that.

After your show would happen from ten, and then my show started at two, there was like a natural four-hour window where just frustration would just ooze, and you get fired up. It was awesome. I I miss those times a lot. Hey, the good old days. Oh, so much fun!

One more thing for you, because you're a you play. You were once the random college football athlete of the day, right? Hmm. I just saw this tweet. I think a lot of people did from Warren Sharp.

He says, "If you watched the NFL and thought something didn't feel right, you're not alone." Number one, most flags in over a decade through four weeks. Refs are impacting the critical moments of the game the most. Number one, most red zone penalties per game by offenses in history. Number one, most penalties on third, fourth downs in the second half of games in history so far. Seventeen touchdowns nullified by penalty already.

Last year it was only five. It might be the referees, but I am, for the first time in my life, looking more forward to the football on Saturday than Sunday, and that's not Packers and Badgers related. I am just enjoying. I like the matchups. What I really love about college is like, ooh, what what time is the game going to be in next week?

And what channel? Is is Wisconsin going to get the CBS or are they going to get the 10 p.m. Fox game? And like, I love that. I just I'm loving college more, and I don't know if that's just me or if that's Are you feeling that too?

Well, listen, Bart. The numbers would would say that you're not alone. And like the the strange thing about college football is, it felt like for a long time, if you liked teams that weren't in your home state, it was like what enjoying the English Premier League. Like if I started if ten years ago, I was talking about a matchup of Georgia Alabama, people were like. What are you watching the SEC for?

I don't know because it's the second best league in the world, right? Like for and for a long time it was, and now it gets to be the third best. But I think the the entertainment level of college is higher than it's ever been. The quality of play is far and away better than it's ever been. The players.

Are you're learning a different level, a different amount about them? Because as much as the NIL has thrown a lot of frustration in there, and everybody wants to tell you about what's wrong with it, you didn't know as many players across the country as you do now. Is it because they have heating and cooling spots? Probably not. It's because they're making making money, but they become.

Stars a lot earlier than just a potential really good freshman or junior player who might be first team all SEC this year.

So like, I think overall the quality of play on Saturday is far and away better. And this is the other part of why college right now is well far and away better than it has ever been. And and the other part of why right now it's so much better than the NFL is. People are taking that as only a referee statistic. It is channel your boy Matt Lafleur.

This game's about players, and at some point, players need to play to get into full game shape to be ready to play a full sixty-minute NFL game and a seventeen-week season. And I think the the extension of the preseason that you're hearing a lot of people talk about is this is what would happen if you just played. Regular season games, like a lot of teams are, without playing any preseason. A lot of these pre-snap penalties are focus, and sure that can be. We want to hammer home coaching.

A lot of that is conditioning. How great and how ready are you to be as focused as you need to be in the third and fourth quarter? And and absolutely, refs are calling a lot more illegal contact maybe than they have before. But I think that's just because these guys are so much faster than they've ever been, and bigger and stronger. And people don't want to get clowned online because we have ninety-seven different angles and all twenty-two's of this guy sucks, that guy stinks, this guy's awful.

There is a lot more attention we pay to it, but I do believe the biggest part of the officiating and the volume of penalties, Bart, especially the pre-snap ones, that's a lot of guys. On the fly, getting fully ready for an NFL season when before you would iron a lot of those out on the first drive of the second half in the third preseason game that you just don't play anymore. Billy Schmidt, good insight per usual. Ketchum starting Monday from two p.m. to five p.m.

the huddle. I am available as a guest. I might need one more infrastructure week over there, but I I I I hammer that out. I'm available. If there, yeah, hundred percent.

Well, and let's make sure. Let's get let's get the infrastructure rolling through. This doesn't have to be like a like an interchange. It doesn't have to be an eight year process on on the build of the bridges. Build them bad boys up, and then we can get right through.

Billy, it's always good to talk to you. Thanks for having me, buddy. I always appreciate it. Thank you for stopping into the Winklerverse. We have the tech to get food delivered in 15 minutes, but we all have horror stories about buying tickets.
