That's R A K U T E N. Good evening, everybody. Welcome into the Winkler Verse. I am Bart Winkler. This is episode number seven hundred and sixty.

Let's go with sixty two, seven hundred and sixty two. As we get closer to seven hundred and seventy seven, that's seven seven seven, that's lucky sevens. Thanks to our friends at Pottawattamie Sportsbook helping us count up to that. If you had the Brewers sweeping the series, nope. If you have them winning the series, still fine.

Although now that they didn't win on Tuesday night, I'm worried that we're going to go to Friday. What I told Grant and Paul on this episode, this week's episode of which you can catch here on this Winklerverse platform. I thought they'd either win tonight or they'll get it done on Friday.

Now, I do take some responsibility for this loss. I've been saying it feels different. It feels different, but I'm not saying what it feels like. And then, and then with Grant, I just what is it? Why does it feel different?

It feels like we're and we look. The first loss of a playoff run is tough. If they're not going to get out of the series, it's going to be two more losses, which will be terrible. And you don't win those first two games the way you do, and not win the series. At some point, you're going to have to win a road game, also, which they haven't done in eight years.

That's not good. But Bryce Terain got on base. Yelich had an RBI.

So some streaks were broken, just not that one. Joining us throughout the postseason, Andrew Wagner. What shirt are you wearing? Oh, Nike. I thought it was the MKE.

I thought it was the. No, I hate. I hate the city connect, and I hate that stupid abbreviation everywhere. When did when did everyone become so obsessed? With their airport codes, when did that become a thing?

That and area codes.

Well, which one do you like? What would you rather be, MKE or the four one four? I think they're both stupid. I like, I love them both. I take a tremendous amount of pride.

You're wearing OSU. That's an abbreviation for the Oklahoma State University, baby. Um, they lost four three. We've been talking. You and I have been talking.

People have been talking. This is probably going to be a series where these are what the scores are going to be: three, two, four, three, maybe a five, four, maybe a two, one. They they they lost tonight. Your initial thoughts on the game? I mean, I'm not shocked that that they lost this one.

I kind of thought that San Diego would come out tonight. They're they're back home. Their backs against the wall. I mean, we've seen this. How many times in series like this?

I mean, go back to two thousand eight when the Brewers got smoked those first two games in Philadelphia, and they came back home and and they won Game Three. Like, you are going to come out there and you are going to give your all. You know, every pluche you can think of, push your chips to the table. Blah blah blah. I am not surprised at all by any of the scores.

Not surprised at all by how close the games have been, and I'm absolutely not surprised that, for the most part, the games have turned on a bit of luck. We talked about the roof in game one. There was a bit of luck involved, just the way that ball chopped in game two. Getting to Mason Miller, you need a bit of luck, and the Brewers could have had some luck tonight with Miller on the paternity list. But the Padres held serve.

I thought originally that it would split in Milwaukee, split in San Diego, and then it would just come down to which bullpen was stingier in Game Five. I have no idea where this one is going. These teams are so evenly matched. I mean, they are so they are all so good at the same things. The Padres might have a little bit more power.

Other than that, I mean this this whole thing is a coin flip.

Well, I think too in this game tonight, like the Brewers were never out of it, and they had a little bit of something going. In the ninth inning, even, and I've I've seen plenty of playoff games where they didn't have that, where they've just like they the other team retires the last twelve, and you never have a shot, and it's just painful and excruciating, and each thing has its own like, oh that sucks, because you could go through that and be like, oh if we could just generate something, this is you were generating stuff, you were getting guys on base. You were leaving guys on base, though. I don't know which one is more acceptable from the losing side, but I I'm encouraged that you know even though they have like led very little in this series, if at all, I think that's something that's kind of missing. We need to.

We need lead here in one of these games. Yeah, you can't play from behind. You can't play from behind every game against a bullpen like that. And and nobody knows that better than the Brewers. I mean, the Padres play the same game as the Brewers from a pitching perspective.

You got to jump out early. You got to jump out early and just let your arms put them away. Just some comments here coming in, as you guys can chime in. If anybody wants to chime in with Wagner and I, I can throw the link out there. We're going to be up late again tomorrow night.

I was really hoping that wouldn't be the case. Although it's a lot better, you know. One thing about not having that job I used to have is I would have been watching this entire game while working and talking about like. The Dolphins' defense.

So, silver lining. Bobby says, "What a bunch of BS." John says, "Didn't want to have to stay up late again." Unbelievable. Mdk hits us with a "What the f, dude?" on Garrett Mitchell. Garrett Mitchell's last at bat looked like he would rather be anywhere else. Than at the plate at Petco Park, that was no good.

This comment here, we put a curse on by already acting like we'd won the series. No, no, no, no. We just won two of the most like. If you're a crumudgeon and hate to smile, but you like the Brewers, but you like the Brewers. Yeah, you had me for a minute.

You you can't not be joyful about what happened there. Mdk back to say Contreras though did have a monster game. Um, little little loose with the challenges as always, but did have a big home run which he pimped very elegantly by just staring at it. Daniel says that felt like the Brewers' best shot. Padres held serve, not great.

I don't think that. I think that there's still a lot left to be, you know, delivered from this team. But they had a lot of men on base and couldn't cash in, and and the Padres had guys on base too and had a hard time cashing in. And then it was that broken bat, sort of bobble by Cooper Pratt or whatever that that put them ahead. And if that was a play, I don't think that should have been an error.

I don't think that should. I think Bowers has to make that play. I don't. I don't know why that's e six. They were all on the broadcast talking about how it hit like right between the dirt and the grass.

And yeah, if it's gonna hit, if it's gonna hit there, I don't know. That should have been an error at all. Yeah, I don't bad single to me. Yep, yep. That's that's the way I would have ruled it.

Should ask Timmy O'Driscoll. Yeah, but I don't know like how much. Arguing about it, like does it matter? What? No, it's not like you know, whatever.

I don't know if they give that much thought in the in the playoffs. In the regular season, it matters more because of stats and how we compare eras. But I don't know about the playoffs. It feels like the Brewers are going to lose the next two games. Yeah, well, that's because that's what we are conditioned to believe.

They did this last year. They won the first two against Chicago and then lost two it on the road, and that felt way worse than this. Winning on the road in the playoffs is not easy. I mean, not a lot of teams go out there and do it. Why I don't know.

Why people are shocked by this? I mean, there's a also a reason that you play a five game series. Even if you lose tomorrow, you come back home and you have your crowd and your noise and your atmosphere and your own toilets, like. Everything is still fine for the Brewers.

So, whoever said you know we we were acting like we won the series after the first two games, and now everyone's acting like they lost the series after one game, make it make sense?

Well, it's just nerves. And I do think was this because this is not a team that had a lot of five six game win streaks. They had won five heading into the postseason, and then they won two here. Was this our longest winning streak of the season? It might be.

So they lost tonight. They'll play again, obviously, on Wednesday, nine o'clock.

Now the first pitch, even better. But every series is in action, so it's like the best day of baseball on the calendar. I was hoping that there'd at least be one series that wasn't played, but we are going to a game four. There's, there's no need to put pants on tomorrow. That's, that's glorious.

Get out of bed, start drinking. Hell, don't even get out of bed, start drinking. Start drinking now. I will after this cherry coke zero. A chicka cherry cola.

See, I like to have a hemp drink, but now I'm not gonna. That's not gonna kick in. I'm gonna be asleep. Unless I just want to mess with my dreams a little bit, happyplacehemp dot com promo code Bart twenty five percent off each and every order. I was going to have something earlier.

Oh, big news! Big big news! I had my BM. I had the one I needed. I was thinking about you, buddy, because after we got off the pod, as you know, I went right to Taco Bell, and that came roaring out bright and early at six thirty.

Those shorts are no longer in the rotation. No, but yeah, I thought of you that day because that season beef. I'm not big. I'm not big into like poop humor, but poop humor flies between us two. When we went to St.

Louis, I shit my pants. Yes, we bonded over that. I shit my pants at the game. Wasn't that? I thought I was on the way down.

Yeah, I was on the way down. I shit my pants on the way down. I also, I also shit my pants after a golf outing once. Cause Robert Specialty Meats bought they just all the meat you could imagine. I had all of it, and then I was in like Theensville, and I had to pull over, and I drove home like I like the shorts I had, so I didn't want to toss them.

So I drove like sitting up, driving. Listen, my locker in the press box, aside from having like all the snacks, all the candy, extra batteries for recorders, like cold medicine, so I also kept one. My own toilet paper because I don't use industrial toilet paper, and two, extra pair of pants and some drawers because listen, I'm 48 years old. Every fart is a wager at this point. You don't toilet paper?

That's a move. That's the move, man. I always, I always pack my own. Always pack my own. Charmin Ultra Strong.

Nothing else touches this asshole. I'm on the Kirkland brand nowadays. Must be nice. Might be Charmin. I don't know.

I don't know what it is. Must be nice to have Costco money.

Well, we save money in the long run. Speaking of money, you mentioned MDK earlier. To answer your question, MDK, no, I'm not staying in a Motel Six. This is actually my new apartment, and I have yet to decorate.

So. I just decided not to sit in front of the wood-paneled kitchen. Today, this is the story of the one. As a shipping manager, he's running the dock, stocking supplies, and making sure every order goes out on time. And Grainger helps him stay prepared.

Associated with GLP ones, I'll have some decorations for you. I'm going to go around town and hit up these pop-up merch tents from these different gas stations. And the merchandise this time around is rough, but I'm going to free. I'm look. This is there's no better playoff indicator than pop-up merch tents.

I know there's there's always one on Capital and. There's it's a sickle by the Walmart. There's always a pop up merch tent, so I'll hit that. I know that I know that sickle and that Walmart. Yeah, yeah, I'll hit that one up for sure.

I guess there's one on Layton. There's one on Blue Mountain. I'm gonna hit those up probably tomorrow. That'll be what I do with my day, and I can write off the tax mileage because I'm doing it for my job. Um, back to the comments.

Can't have Vaughn get zero at bats in a game from Matt. I do think the lineup will be different tomorrow. They put Bryce in the four hole today. It sort of worked. He had a hit, but that was like the least.

That should have been an error. I mean, he didn't do anything to get that hit. It was pop fly that fell short. Um, I don't know that Garrett Mitchell starts. I think Lara gets a start.

In center, Mitchell was over four. He's he struck out three times. Tereng's having a hard time getting on this. Yelich has been really good this series. Yeah, he's been really good this series.

And hey, we no longer have to hear he hasn't hit an RBI in the playoffs since 2018. Hallelujah, that storyline is over. And then you could, I mean, Bowers struck out four times in four at bats.

Now he did walk once. Yeah, Bowers did not have a did not have a strong day at the plate.

So you could get Vaughn in there if you want to mix it up. Who is it tomorrow? Is it Walker Bueller tomorrow? Did they take him off paternity leave because he was on that? No, that's Mason having babies.

I thought I thought Mason Miller was on paternity. Miller is. Bueller was to start the series.

So they've got a couple of guys on the paternity list. Yeah, I haven't.

So apparently starters are not listed yet for tomorrow, but I would assume if Bueller's back, it's got to be him.

Well, what are the Brewers doing? Are they going?

Well, they've got Patrick yet. They've got Drowin. They've got Harrison. It's gonna be. I think it's gonna be a bullpen game.

I mean, who else? Who else are you gonna start?

Someone asked me, "Do you push up Miz?" No. I'm not doing that. Nope. You don't push him up. Your back's not against the wall until game five.

It just no. You don't. You don't push a guy up like that with that arm and that velocity and that workload. You don't put pitch him on short rest. It was interesting.

With Mike Michael King got in today and pitched all right. I think you know one more hit they would have kind of gotten to him. And some of those hits, even I think some of the some of the hits early, the Brewers. Oh my God, how they catch him! Obviously, Pat Murphy was he was on TV and said, "God damn it!" During that bat because they tried to interview him and there was a pop fly right away, and that interview fell short.

But they also had some balls that I just assumed would be grabbed that weren't.

So I think everything is, everything at the end of this series, everything is going to be about even. It's just going to be like who got the last beneficial play. That's exactly. But you also, Wags, you got to like. I know Brewers fans are feeling down that we lost, especially once you go up two zero and you're on the doorstep.

But to be up two zero in this position, I I don't want to just be like silver lining guy, and I'm not trying to be. I'm saying to be up two zero was there's you play those two games a hundred times, the Brewers are up two zero one time, and it's one to one probably ninety. They could very easily have gone in this game down zero two. That too, we're not we're we're we're not for that cable, uh, we're not for Mason Miller having a quote unquote meltdown, and uh, you know if Churio's ball doesn't chop in just the right spot on the dirt, like just so many little things. That's how these series are.

I I I can't say enough, and it sounds like a cliche and an excuse, and you know all the other bullshit that I hear over the years on Twitter. But it comes down to luck. That's how that's how playoff series are won in every sport. It comes down to luck because guess what? Both teams that are playing these games are really freaking good.

There there's not much difference between the two. In any series, it's which team takes advantage of the most opportunities—the luck opportunities, the the bloop singles, the broken bats, the duck farts, all that shit. Balls hitting off a roof truss, like whichever team takes advantage of that. I mean, hell, had Jackson Churio not—never mind—had the ball not hit the cable. If Jackson Churio isn't in the exact right spot and had the read on it.

It's still that that game keeps going, and who knows how it ends? It's all about. Yeah, we just assume because it hit the cable, it's an out. But it hit the cable and was an out because Chiril caught it to be. You made a hell of a play to be able to read that ball off the bat, off the cable, and into your glove.

It's a little. He's incredibly talented, yes, but it requires a little bit of luck and good fortune. And the team that gets the most of. I used this example the other day. I know you hate when I bring it up because I always say the Bucks were an incredibly good team in 2021.

They had out of this world talent. They had an international superstar, but they don't have that ring. If Kevin Durant's foot is one size, we don't talk about that here. Yeah, I know. It comes.

You need luck plays like that. Every championship team needs luck plays like that. This comment here: San Diego needed to win this, but this was the Brewers' game through and through. We did everything we needed to win, except for a few players who aren't pulling any weight. I think you're discrediting San Diego a little bit.

I know, I know what you're saying. I know what you're saying. Everybody felt like this. Those two games were so. It was the best Brewers weekend of my life.

It was unbelievable, and this doesn't take that away. It's a five game series, um, and you've got five games to work with it.

Now, I, if they lose on Wednesday, I still feel good about them winning on Friday. Jake says Padres are too good to sweep; have to get it done without coming home. Need Miz for Game One of a potential CS, and you'd you'd love to think ahead like that. You do have to just get through this one, and I'll remind people again: they went to Chicago, they lost two in Chicago, they came back and won Game Five. I would like to see, I would like to see them.

The ideal thing would be tomorrow, get some runs in that first inning. Play with a lead. That would be the ideal situation, but it's probably going to be another close game. Yeah, I just I don't see how it's not. No one's going to bullpen.

Yeah, no one's going to jack this thing off. I mean, the pitching is just too good. In good pitching beats good hitting every time. And these two teams are so evenly matched pitching wise. I was gonna actually look up the regular season stats to see how different they are in the rankings.

Again, it comes down to who gets to the opposing starter first because those bullpens aren't giving anything up. No, and some people are like, "Oh, they're putting Mason Miller on the paternity leave because they want an extra bullpen arm." Well, that'd be all well and good, but you'd also rather have Mason Miller.

Now they got through it, and that also be well and good. But the paternity leave is not some like magical list you can just go on. Yeah, they're having their first baby. He's going to do that. I mean, does he really need to be there?

Says the guy who doesn't have children that he knows of and is unmarried. And I will say that. I'm not sure I needed to be there. I'm glad I was. I wouldn't want it any other way.

What? Bueller is back. By the way, Bueller's back. But they can do the job with that. The wife can do the job with that.

Yeah. Eleven left on base. That's from Dan and play the drive, and then Matt says twelve straight road playoff losses now for the crew. Left eleven stranded on base, and you lose by one. Sickening and pathetic.

And you know what's interesting is they haven't won. A road playoff game since 2018, when they clinched on the road in St. Louis. We were there, and they won Game One Sixty Three in Chicago. We were there, and that year had no problem winning on the road.

Now they can't do it. Then they clinched the NLDS in Colorado. Yeah, I actually wrote a story about how Mark Gattinazzo is going to get stuck with quite the bill for carpet cleaning. Yeah. And and that's what that's what also sucks.

I wonder, like, which team it is harder on. Is it harder on the team that's up two zero that knows the champagne is right around the corner, and they can end this thing, or is it harder on the team that needs to win or their season's over? The hard. You're also you're also it's if you were if there was the Brewers down two zero on the road, that's different. San Diego at least had their crowd behind them, and I, I did like what the crowd was doing early, and then I mentioned that, and then the crowd kind of got a little more quiet.

If I was, if I was a Padres guy, I would be. I just, I don't know. I think you should be standing up when it's a two-two count in any inning in the playoffs with two outs. I don't know. Maybe I'm a, maybe I'm a fucking loser.

I hate to agree with you on anything ever, but I, I actually don't disagree. With you, and it makes me sick to my stomach. Michael's in Philly. He says, "Damn, Bart, miss you on the radio being broadcast into the Philly area." I miss you too, Michael. Can you send us some tasty cakes, please?

And thank you. I thought for sure, like you know, people would still have me on as guests and shit, but guess not. Can we address how we're both hated? What? We're both hated.

Can we address how abhorrent the broadcast team is for these national broadcasts, Andrew? I, I, it's the dumbest gripe in sports. Like, what the hell do you expect? What do you want them to do? Do you want them to deflate your players on every single play?

Like. Every fan is convinced that national broadcasters hate their team and favor the other team and suck at their job. And guess what? If you were better at it, you would be doing it. The announcers are fine.

Let it go. Find something else to bitch about. I am. I'll say this: I'm very much enjoying the back and forth between AJ Przinsky and Adam Wainwright. I like that.

I think many times they were cognizant and made sure to point out, like, "Hey, this is the Brewers." Like the Brewer, this is the like they they know this team will come back. I will say that Adam Amin's voice was louder for Padres highlights than Brewers, and and that's what's troubling. It was. You got to remember too. We watch one hundred sixty-two games with local broadcasters rooting for our team, and the minute you watch somebody that's not rooting for your team or the other team, you are taking that as they're rooting against your team.

So that's not happening, but even still, it means voice was louder for the Padres.

Well, let's take him out back and kick his ass. I would like to do that. Matt says, "Feel like all the base runners happen with two outs. Couldn't play their brand of move them over, get them in." Wingo, the Padres did that excellently with their first run. Um, I was watching the game in bed for a little bit with my wife and son.

And I don't know. You know the joke I want to make, but I'm not gonna. Yes, your kid. Um. And and she was like that.

That looks like the science of baseball. And then one of the announcers said, "This is what baseball is at its best." So basically, my wife should be a broadcaster. Should Barden the misses call Brewers, Braves, or the Dodgers won today? Huh? Dodgers won today.

Uh, old man, me hates two late nights in a row. Yeah, I don't like it either. This is my time. Jake says May should not be on the roster if they advance. What a nothing pickup!

I thought he was. I thought he was fine. He gave up two runs, three innings. Got through the order. He got through the order twice, once, once.

What more do you want? Like that's how it goes in the playoffs. He wasn't going to be left out there on the leash. Got him through the order, and then get into your bullpen like that. You knew that going in.

I thought he was fine. Um, we did pitch a handful of guys because Romero came in after.

So these are your big. Jesus Christ! I just, oh my god! I got a tweet here from Francesca Hong. Um.

Kurt Hogue tweeted: Garrett Mitchell has seen 15 right-handed changeups in this series. He swung at nine and whiffed eight times, striking out three times. Francesca Hong says, "This right here is more painful than the fucking commentators put Luis in." All right, all right, Frankie Hong. I think we might be in trouble," says MC. "I think this team is better than last year, but we might be in trouble.

It's one fucking game. Let the playoffs on the road against a team when they're back against the wall. Like, did you think they were going to go out there and, you know, twenty to nothing? Do we want to be miserable? Did we have too good of a weekend?

Now we want to be miserable again. Is that what's happening? I'm not going to be miserable tonight, and I'm not going to be miserable if they lose tomorrow night. And I'm not going to pre be miserable just to protect myself from feelings in case I have to be miserable on Friday.

So. I would I would suggest that if you are worried, that is natural, but you can fight it by just going to bed. Do your day tomorrow, enjoy your evening, and then a new game will appear on your TV set at 9 p.m. Yes, and we'll be able to think about that game. Don't spend more time on this game.

Then you have to. There'll be some changes to the lineup. I think. I think that. I think that it might be on the margins, but we're probably better off suited for our bullpen than theirs.

Apparently, Murph did not name a game four starter, but said Robert Gasser and Chad Patrick could be options. Gasser, I forgot about him. There's another name. We've got plenty of guys, and we kept an extra pitcher this time. We've got plenty of guys that can do it.

I know, I know, I know, I know. Losses are no fun. The playoffs are tense. We've been here before. I know, but.

Eight hours ago, you would have told any one of your friends we're going to the World Series.

So don't don't back off on that now, just because they lost a game to a team playing for their playoff life. I mean, going into the series, did anybody think that they were going to sweep? But did anyone realistically think they were going to come into this series and sweep the Padres? Like, if you would have gone into the series, said, "Okay, through three games, you'll be up two one." Everyone would take that exactly. Everyone would take that.

They went up two nothing again in the third. Contreras homered. We tied it in the fifth. Cronenworth, you know that homer was first pitch of the inning. Then the play we talked about in the sixth, and then Yelich got his RBI in the second, and then nothing from there.

So four three the final. Game four, as we said, FS one again. That will be on Thursday night, or Wednesday night, rather. It's it's Wednesday right now. It's tripping me up.

Some more comments here, guys. How come the Brewers decided not to run on a kid who is oh for the season on throwing out runners?

Well, it's hard to do that when you're when you're not getting on base until there's two outs in the inning. Yeah, they talked about that. Was it the eighth inning? They talked about that. Churio was at the plate, and they're like, "Should they run here?" And you can't.

No, it's in certain types of pitchers make it harder to run. Guys that throw a certain way, guys. It just as I see, I see where I see the point that who's that Dina Please is making. Like, I get that he's he's. Crappy throwing runners out, but there's more that goes into it.

You know, when are you getting your hits? Who's at the plate? Where is this guy throwing from? How is he throwing? Like, so much more goes into it than just running.

More from data, he says Yelich on first base doesn't run. Garrett no bunt, no swing. Torang only at first base on that hit should have been at second. Pratt needs to hold the ball. There's things you can complain about, but let's also talk about.

Pratt should not have tagged up at third base when he did to score a run, so that shouldn't have happened. And he did that, and the Brewers got a run on that.

So, just in like, I am upset that they lost because I would rather they won. I'm upset that they lost because. Last year they had to go to five, and I would have liked to end it in Chicago. I'm upset that they lost because I've allowed myself to start thinking what could be, and this pours cold water on that.

So yes, I'm upset that they lost as well. But I think they're just the general vibe from the comment section at a 12:30 m taping of the Winkler verse is: you guys came here to feel. Other people feeling your angst and your and your frustration, and I'm not I'm not able to give that to you because I'm the wrong I'm the wrong man for empathy in any situation. I just don't feel like it's time to panic. No, it's one game.

It's one game. I mean, I don't know how much more simple to put it into. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Pull two out of your ass in the first two games. You have a lead.

You go into a hostile environment with a team which is fighting to stay alive, that has the same World Series aspirations that you have, and they put it all out there. They were the ones with everything to lose tonight. The Brewers like it doesn't matter. It's one game. They still have the lead.

They still have home field advantage. Like, let it go. Corey says, "Do we get to complain about how a broken bat might have cost us the game? Will the national media run with that, or is that reserved just for roofs and coast teams?" Um, counterpoint: this game was on late. Nobody watched it, other than us and them.

Yeah, I am curious to see what the ratings are going to be for this one. And no one's going to talk about this game on TV tomorrow, so you don't have to worry about that. It won't even be in the newspaper till Sunday. A, it's football season. B, the Dodgers played, and C, the Yankees are playing.

On Wednesday, no one's going to talk. It's going to be Yankees must. It's going to be all this stuff. No one's, no one's talking Brewers Padres for any longer than two minutes.

So don't worry about any of that. Jake says announcers actively rooting for the Padres and ripping the Brewers was weird. Where, like. Cite examples, like where were they ripping the Brewers? Ben says it's about time to bench Mitchell.

Mitchell's face on that last at bat is seared into my brain. He just did not look like he wanted to be there. I was listening on the radio at that point, so I didn't see it. It was just like it was like, and then. I know how hard baseball is, and I and I I couldn't hit a fifty mile an hour ball, but sometimes Mitchell did this on a second strike.

Sometimes they swing in a way that's like, why? What are you doing? I don't know. Just sometimes it looks, it looks like they're not trying. They are trying, but it looks like they're not trying, and I think that's upsetting for people.

Like, let's watch more strike threes.

Well, you know what? If they knew exactly what was coming and where it was going, this this sport would be completely different. Like that's the whole point. That's why pitchers throw five different fastballs. Um, where are we going here on some of these comments?

I'm a little behind.

So, Padres are a bunch of punks. That's the newest one from Roger Beavers.

Okay, I think the Padres are a very likable team to root for. Yeah, they got Blink 182 at the game. Tom DeLong, Greg Marcus was at the game in his Brewers fit. That was sweet. It's tough to sweep a team in baseball.

Yup, neither team's better than the Braves or Dodgers. Yeah, probably. Stay mad, people.

Okay, we're we're doing that now. Um, it's not about the fact they lost; it's how they lost. You can't consistently make these errors and leave this many men on base and win games consistently in the playoffs. Everything you guys are upset about them not doing tonight, they did in the first two games. And they won, so they they are they are capable of doing them.

So your catcher looks like a reptile. That's from Padres fan endangered species. I mean, it's hard to disagree with them on that one. That is an astute point. Why do you guys come?

Why do you guys come in here? Why do you guys come in here? It's like I get I like I get I get I get people coming in here. They beat us in big playoff games, like the Eagles beat us, and I'm trying to do a podcast, and then it's like, oh, you're you won, celebrate! Don't don't don't don't don't don't be sad.

You won. This is the story of the one. As a shipping manager, he's running the dock, stocking supplies, and making sure every order goes out on time. And Grainger helps him stay prepared. So this will be on the Dan Shani YouTube. But I want to show the merch that one person found. This might have been at the one on Blue Mound and Holly.

So I will share my screen here on the Dan Shani YouTube. Dream my old neighborhood.

So look at this. You've got you've got merch here that is awful. Um, this one Milwaukee blue shirt sort of looks like it could be real. This Milwaukee logo is an AI generated version of the old beer logo. Oh my god, that's bad.

I mean, it is awful. That is dog shit. It's it's the Milwaukee. You know, I don't like these logos anyway. I don't like when I see Brewers fans wear old Brewers gear to game.

I don't think. I think the like the the old '80s stuff you can wear. The '90s stuff I hate. I hate, but I know there's people that appreciate it.

So I think you can wear that. Even though I hate it, I don't like like when mustard yellow was one of our colors. That was terrible, Adam. I don't like anything with that. Yeah, I don't like anything with that.

I think that needs to be out of things you wear to the Brewers game, or like there's this one shirt my mom had. It just looks so like. It looked like worse than Coles. It was it was so bad. Um, I just I hate gonna buy everyone new brewer swag.

Is that what you are saying? I am thinking about it. I am going to the gas stations tomorrow and buying some stuff of these shirts. I am showing you. I don't know this one on the left's really bad.

This jersey. Let's see how many copyright infringement fines we can incur on one shirt. I think I'm going to buy this shitty one on the right. This AI generated. How much are they selling these for?

Twenty five. I'm going to get. I would guess twenty five bucks a pop.

Okay, they they take all forms of payment, so that's good. Even American Express. Ooh, fancy!

So tomorrow I will. I have some time tomorrow. I'm doing all this stuff in the morning, and then I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go hit up some gas stations tomorrow, and and I'll take you on the journey with me on my on my socials.

Okay, I'm looking forward to it.

So tomorrow's day is going to be driving around. I do think that's a big part of the playoffs. I just realized that you have your own hat. Talk about cheap merch! Jesus, what's wrong?

You can buy them on my shop. I didn't even know you had a shop. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Do you want my? Do you want to look at some items?

Are there underpants? Because you know. No. What's in the Bart Winkler shop?

Well, I can't really show you anything because Google Chrome says I have to force quit application.

So I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna do that. I'm gonna try to hang on here. Prophylactics with your face on them. A little Bart Winkler condoms.

I ripped on Joey's Bucks hat years ago at Farm and Fleet Christmas donations. That sounds like me. Was it as bad as as Herb Cole's Bucks hat? No. Tough.

Does anyone know if these merch stands have popped up in Green Bay? I'm on the bandwagon. Want to fake represent? No, but if they do, let me know. Bob Nightingale tweets: Mason Miller and Morjon expected to be available for Game Four.

Yeah, okay, thanks, Bob. Bob's on it. Bronco says, "I'm going to say it: Brewers can't consistently be down every game and make a comeback. It doesn't work that way in the playoffs.

So this is very sad." All right, I think we're done with Game Three because you guys are too sad. And don't get me wrong. There's nothing that I enjoy more than drinking the tears of sad Wisconsin sports fans. But this is a bit much.

Now, if they have to come back Friday, Wagner, they will be back at a stadium that October six. A very special day in Brewers history. Yeah, that'll be. I'm I'm teeing you up for that. What you want?

You teed me up for that. That would be the thirty first anniversary of George P. Tech flipping his vote at five o'clock in the morning, making Miller Park possible. And I don't how did that happen. How's this guy?

How did he flip his vote? How's that happen? You know, I I interviewed him for a story years ago and years ago. I think I was working for a website in Milwaukee at the time, and I think it was during the tenth anniversary of Miller Park, and I.

Somehow got a hold of him, and he said that he was all night conversations with Bud Selig, Hank Aaron, Robin Yount. Like they brought out the big guns and just explained that. This is what we're trying to do, and the whole premise was they're trying to keep this team in Milwaukee for future generations. And the only way to compete in baseball was to build a new stadium, and that was what Bud's sales pitch was to everyone. This is going to save the Brewers, and this is going to make us competitive.

And it took a couple years, but look at what you have now—like Miller Park lived up to its billing, and then some. That roof made it possible to have this run of success, literally and figuratively, especially after Game One. Q's hammered Lefleur's birthday. Q says Wagner exclusive. Bud Selig jerked him off.

What does that even mean? I don't know, but I am. I am hoping that I am Q is drinking heavily, in which case, have at it, my friend. Those frail hands can barely sign a check. They can't.

They can't jerk off Wagner's man meat. You do a good job of it. I. I. I almost.

I almost said it, and then I. I checked my swing. See, they're soft hands. I still got calluses down here. All right, that's pretty good for a game three loss.

I am, I am worried because I'm always worried, but I'm also aware of the fact that there's a game in twenty hours, and I like our team. Yeah. You're coming right back to play the next game. You're not sitting on a plane and stewing about it for four hours. Like flush it down the toilet, like Bart sold underpants, and just go back at it.

You still have a hundred three victory team. You still have control of the series. You still have home field advantage. You lost the game. Lickety shit.

It's ten fifty two in San Diego. You know, go sit by the water, have some fish tacos. That's what they're popular for. Yeah, I know. Um, I know all about San Diego.

I've been there twice, including this year. You know, it's German for whale's vagina. Yeah, I've heard. I actually have a San Diego shirt that I bought for eight dollars at a Ralph's. Because I sweat through my shirts too bad, and they stunk, so I had to throw.

I like the I like the South Park video, jacking it in San Diego. That's a good one. That's a good one. That stadium is weird. It just like appears, like you take the exit, and you're like, oh, this is a.

Oh, there's the stadium. Yeah, there's a lot of there's a lot of unhoused nearby. Which is not San Diego's problem. It's the conservative cities kicking those people out of their towns. How's that?

Oh, here we go. Late night politics with Bart.

Well, hey, Fran, Francesca Hong is pissed at the announcers. Who do you think stayed up later for the game? Tom, Tiffany, or David Crowley? I'm going to say Tiffany. Yeah, I'm gonna say Tiffany.

He seems like he keeps late hours. Doesn't doesn't Crowley have little kids? I don't know anything about either of these people. Yeah, I think Crowley's got little kids, so he's probably like zonked out because they're gonna be up at five o'clock in the morning. Neither of these people are like telling it.

Like, I don't even know what either of them like. Although the debate, there is a debate in two weeks. I'm going to live stream it. I'm going to have a watch party. You do that.

I'm probably going to smoke a lot of weed and take a nap. All right. We'll be back for game four. We'll see what happens. I'm going to talk to Billy Schmidt in the morning about this team and how we're feeling.

So that'll be the podcast on Wednesday morning. And then I'm going to I'm going to drive around town and try to find gas stations. And if you know where some are with merch, tell me. And I'll go anywhere in this town, as I often do. It's a quick trip.

I can't. I can't. Do you think Matt Lafleur stayed up late to watch the game? Good question. Matt Lafleur came to play to watch Gilmore Girls.

Yeah. All right, Bart. Matt Lafleur cares. Good to see you, Wagner. Yeah, we'll talk tomorrow.

See you, buddy. And thank you all for stopping into.

Now, okay.

Now that Wagner's gone, I am mortified that we're gonna fucking lose this series. I do not feel good about it. I'm scared out of my mind. I didn't want to say that in front of him. I'm trying to impress him.

Just kidding. Let's get that dub on Wednesday night and have a happier conversation and let you guys freak out about the Dodgers or Braves instead of the Padres. Greg Marcus, look. This was Blink One Eighty Two's night. Tom DeLonge, they're singing all the small things, or whatever song they sang.

This was their moment. Let them have it. We'll be back tomorrow. Thanks for stabbing into the Winkler verse, and go buy a hat. Snoring, gasping for air during sleep, daytime sleepiness.
