Good evening, everybody. Welcome into the Winkler verse. Welcome to the Brewers NLDS post game show. Welcome to a three hours later than the Packers post game show. Welcome to a double header of victories.

With each game being a completely different experience, we're talking about both today. Welcome into the Winkler verse. I'm Bar Winkler. It is great to have you here.

However, or whenever you're listening, if you are live, as always, I will throw out the link to have you join and talk and cherish and celebrate in this moment. The NLDS is not won yet. Remember, the Brewers were in a position against the Cubs, and then we had to go five.

So we're not counting our chickens, but we are counting our eggs, and there's a lot of eggs, and they're probably going to hatch. And we're feeling very good about that. Wow!

So we're going to talk Packers. We're going to talk Brewers. We're going to talk. Probably just those two things. I don't know what the hell else happened in the NFL today.

We were like sort of looking at the other scores in the red zone, and then by like five o'clock, this Niners Broncos game could be fifty to forty-nine. For all I know, I got no idea what's going on. You had the Packer game, and the Packer game was fine. They won. That's good.

But throughout that game, there was a feeling of. We're winning. How are we going to lose? Packers get the win, and then in this Brewers game, it was a feeling of we're losing. Are we going to come back and win?

And I don't think, like I'm trying to think in my head. Even just talking Packers for the 13 seconds I just did, I felt like that was too much. Um, we can certainly get more into this. A little bit later, but I don't even know that that we're gonna. I'm gonna I'm gonna put Packers on the title, and I'm sure I'll mention something about it before I go.

But this was great, Tom. I love you. I love this comment. No coincidence that Miller fell apart when the crowd got up and engaged. See, if you react, you're only.

You can't influence what's happening. If you get up. And cheer, you can have a direct result on what's about to happen, and and the Brewers did that.

So let's talk with the Milwaukee Brewers four to three. There's a lot in this game, a lot of errors, a lot of decisions that were made, a lot of opportunities that were missed. By both teams, some wonky stuff. Certainly, nothing as wonky as the roof, which was open. But if you're a Padres fan, you are sick to your stomach right now.

And if you're a Brewers fan, I didn't feel any remorse over last night. Fluke play would it have been? Where would it have been? I don't know. But finally, it felt like something happened for us.

And today. We won in the kind of way, and there's nothing fluky or crazy about this. But our teams, our Wisconsin sports teams, we have we have lost in ways that were like we invented a way to lose. We were winning, and then the ball didn't go out, but they called it a home run. Like that would been a very Brewers loss.

Today was more of like. It's our top guy. It's our top closer. We're stretching him a little bit, but he should be able to come through. And then he doesn't, and the other team gets the clutch hit when needed.

And that's what happened for the Brewers tonight.

So we, in these two games, have invented a new way to win, and we showed incredible grit and determination in coming back to win. I I don't know what I thought was going to happen in this game. I never didn't think that they didn't have a chance to win. I will say in the ninth inning, when I was writing the title for the YouTube, because I wanted to get up and go right away, which then I didn't because I was celebrating with my wife and son and my brother, and that's another great thing, bringing people together.

Okay, we're bringing everybody together. We're watching these games. It's such a good time. I've thirty-five texts in the last five minutes. I don't know who from what.

A lot of brew—I mean, that's got to be all Brewers. It's like the meme. It's my birthday. No one cares. Brewers win on walk-off.

Five hundred seventy different texts, and I'll and I'll take every one of them. This, by the way, is how we should be feeling on Sundays. We should be feeling immense joy that our team has won, and the Packers—they didn't give me that earlier today. That was more like, good. I mean, jeez, oof.

And had I done just a singular Packers post-game show before this game, it would have been just like bad. I mean, I would—I don't know. Oh, they won the floor. Love, blah, blah, whatever, whatever, whatever. This is how Sundays should feel.

Chip Chipperson, ten dollars. Thank you for that, Chip. Crowd was actually into it today. What a weekend! I am like Matt Lafleur with this crowd.

I demand perfection.

So in the fourth inning, when it's a two-two count and there's two outs, and I want everybody up.

Okay, I want everybody up. I see these things. I'm already thinking about the Padres game. There's going to be fourth inning, fifth inning, sixth inning. Everyone's going to be standing.

Now they're going to have some nerves too because they're down to nothing before they get their to see their team play here in the postseason. At least in this series, they did have the series at home against the Cubs. But now in this series, they they need to win every other game. They need to win every game. To advance to the next round, and so huge for the Brewers today, huge for the Brewers yesterday.

There's definitely a world where the Brewers are down 0-2. There's probably a lot of worlds where this series is one to one.

So I think these are two evenly matched teams. We did do a game one post game show. If you want to relive that at any point throughout the weekend or the week, Andrew Wagner joined me for a good chunk of that, and we were talking about how this series is likely to be. If the Brewers score three, the Padres have two. If the Brewers score five, the Padres have four.

Or if the Padres have six, the Brewers have five. There's going to be a lot of tight games that are really going to come down to the margins and really going to come down to baseball being a game of inches. And that is what happened here on this night.

So we'll take you to the ninth inning. Mason Miller is in for the Padres, and remember this too about Mason Miller. This was a guy that we had our eyes on at the trade deadline because the Padres weren't they like three games under five hundred at some point midway in the season, and it looked like they might be sellers, but they hung on, became one of the hotter teams in baseball. Certainly deserved to make the postseason. Certainly, if they come back and beat us, it will not be a surprise.

They are very good. They are like us in a lot of ways. Maybe a little more pop at the bat with Machado and Tatis. But man. This this series to be up two nothing right now is huge.

It is huge beyond huge because again, in a lot of different scenarios, this is a one one series going to San Diego, and that game won't be until eight thirty on Tuesday. Why don't we get the sweep there so we don't have to stay up on Wednesday night and we can't have a nice night, and then we don't have to deal with a Friday afternoon game. Let's try to do that. Maybe the Brewers and everybody you know before baseball goes on strike would love to get as many home. Games as possible, they're assured.

I mean, a game five potentially. If the Brewers lose two, they'll have another one.

So this is coming back to Milwaukee. Worst case scenario, but let's wrap this thing up and get some sleep here this week. We are brought to you by Happy Place Hemp. The promo code is Bart. Twenty five percent off each and every order at HappyPlaceHemp dot com.

Gummies and tinctures and balms and Seltzers, which I just mean are a godsend for me. You can check it all out at HappyPlaceHemp.com and use the promo code Bart. That will save you twenty five percent off each and every order. This is episode. I'll give you another number seven fifty nine.

This is episode seven fifty nine of the Winklerverse. We're getting to seven seven seven, and we are doing that with our friends at Potawatomi Sportsbook as we are spinning our way up to that lucky number. And we'll have some things coming. I'm getting in touch with them here this week, and finally going to make my bucks bet of over. Last I saw, it might be up to twenty eight and a half.

I liked it at twenty six. I still think they're going to win thirty, regardless. But I got to get in there before I keep dinking around. I want to talk about that ninth inning, and then I'll get to some comments, and I'll throw the link out if you want to join. But that ninth inning, when the Brewers were at the plate.

They're down three to two, and right away we get the Mitchell groundout. You know that's a bummer. Yelich comes up. Yelich's last at bat we thought could have been a home run, and then they went crazy for Jackson Merrill with the catch, and then Jackson Churio caught one later in the game, and they were just like fly ball caught. That was weird.

These announcers are fine. I actually think Wainwright and Przinsky were doing a phenomenal job of taking us through what Miller is trying to. Like do and set up with some of these batters. I really thought that the the inter the entertainment was there, but the information. Paul would have loved this broadcast.

The information was there too. They were telling you why certain decisions are being made. They were putting you into the mind of Mason Miller as best they could with being in those positions as a catcher and a pitcher. And I I thought it was very good. Adam Amin Amin.

He's a good broadcaster. I generally like him. I do think he just needs to dial it down volume wise a little bit. Although I do have that same criticism for myself at times, so I'm not going to be too harsh on it. Broadcast was fine.

Anyway, we're not picking on the broadcast day. We do not care. It could have been two dead corpses, grunting their way through nine innings. We do not care. They won four to three.

We are very happy.

So Yelich walks, and Frelich walks. And Vaughn flies out, so you've got a couple of runners at the on the bases, and then you got Gary Sanchez up, and I thought that was interesting. Like I told this to my brother. Here I am, forty-two years old. The Brewers are in a playoff series, which.

They've been farther in my lifetime. They've been to Game Seven of an NLCS in my lifetime, but in my lifetime, they've never been to a World Series. To call this the most important at bat in my Brewers' lifetime would be a stretch, but it is in the top. Like it's on the first page. This is a huge at bat, especially if they come through.

And I just think it's funny that like forty years of fandom. Is zoned in on this moment, and it's some guy named Gary Sanchez at the plate. It's not like it's Yelich. It's not like it's Chirillo, an up and comer. It's Gary Sanchez, a guy who, when he retires, probably won't even be remembered for being a Brewer.

And I really thought, with some of those pitches Miller was throwing on the outside that were catching the zone, I thought this is how this game is going to end, Sanchez. He's going to get caught on one of those. He's going to get caught on one of those. He doesn't want to get caught looking, so he's going to swing. Miller's going to hit that spot again, and that's going to be it.

Sanchez, to his credit, walked.

So now we've got the bases loaded on walks with Jackson Churio at the plate. Churio is already having a tremendous series. We've had a lot of times now. That was his only hit today, but he had the home run yesterday. But we have a lot of times where.

You remember Prince Fielder, Ryan Braun, even Christian Yelich, ever so closer to that RBI. But these guys take us through the postseason and then kind of falter out, or take us through the regular season and then kind of falter out in the postseason. And that has not been happening with Jackson Chirillo. He is fighting pitches off this at bat, knowing exactly the moment he wants. Kind of reminiscent of.

A few weeks ago, when Churio was like, "All right, I'm going to hit a homer here," and Ba recognized it. They said something on the broadcast, like he knows he's up to something, and then he hit the home run, and the Brewers won the game. This felt like Jackson knows there's a moment for him coming. It's just a matter of delivering on that moment. He gets the base knock, Yelich gets home easy, Frelick's running around.

Could be a tight play with a better throw. Never in question. Frelick's in there. Brewers win four to three, two zero up on the Padres with game three on Tuesday night. This is a fantastic weekend, a really good overall Wisconsin sports weekend with the Badgers and the Packers.

I think the only the only real like negative thing that happened was oh, we lost Edger and Cooper for the season. Yeah, that's pretty shitty. That's that's gonna be a rough one. That's that's no good. I was gonna say that Giannis is with the Heat getting getting calls now, but then I then I remembered Edger and Cooper is is out for the season.

He tore his Achilles by walking, which is not great. A lot of times these broadcasts will just be like, "Oh, we don't know what it is," but Achilles are so like obvious. Especially non-contact, that everyone's just like, okay, he's out for the year. This sucks. Let's get into some comments.

I put the link up if anybody wants to join. I have not screened any of these, so let's read them and weep. Ozone says, "Let's go." Chucky B says, "Three emoji smiley faces." Ben says, "W with four count them four exclamation points." Um, Chucky, I'm a Braves fan, but if they don't make it past LA, I'm on the Brewers train. My kid mentioned to me that if the Padres win this series, this is what we're talking about. If the Padres win the series, we're still going to root for the Padres.

We don't. We're not. We're not Braves guys. They moved. Fifty years ago, but we're certainly not Dodgers guys, and we were at a we were at Pecco this year, and the Padres are fine.

We don't have like a rivalry with them, you know. If they come back and beat us, we're gonna hate them. They'll probably hate us if we beat them. But they're like this year. The difference is, if we lose of the teams left, I want the team to beat us to go to the World Series.

I prefer them over anybody else left.

So, last year in this round, if we lost, I, I, I mean, I don't want to say what I rooted for. I just did not want the Cubs in the world. I that would have been terrible. That would have been very hard. And again, even in this series, I just want, I just want you to think how pure the joy is.

That it's just Brewers joy. This means a lot to me as a Chicago abuser and hater. And again, I don't hate. I love Chicago, and I respect their teams even. But the fans are a different story.

Not at all. By the way, we're also brought to you by Milwaukee. Let's go! I don't know what play was this from twenty eighteen. I feel like this was the Rockies, or this could have been last.

No, this could have been twenty eighteen. Go Brewers, Coles, because this says the old logo. Yeah, so I got some old towels here today because I'm in celebratory mood, even though I'm not wearing any Brewers gear. And there's only one Brewer's thing behind me. Call one eight hundred Granger, click Granger dot com, or just stop by Granger for the ones who get. It done. Matt can't believe that just happened.

Who can? Sloppy play by the Brewers, but come out with clutch plays. Wow, that's from David. There were a lot of errors. There were some troubling errors.

We looked at an error in the fifth inning that was troubling with Cooper Pratt, and I don't know what Bryce Tarang was doing, and then David Hamilton had one as well. Lots of errors. In the postseason, where every play is magnified, and you just cannot have these kind of errors, and the Brewers did, and that's not good.

So they were able to get out of it. To do a little game recap on how this game went for those of you that only listen and don't watch the games. Padres did what they did yesterday. They went up two nothing. They had a run in the first inning, and then the errors got them another run in the second, the fifth rather.

So they're up two nothing. Brewers were being no hit for a little bit. Christian Yelich finally broke that up. That was good. But the Brewers got one back on in the fifth with Frelick bringing Yelich home.

Padres added one, and each time that they added some runs, we were lucky they did not add more.

So we did a good job of making sure this didn't get to be a four-run, five-run, six-run score for the Padres. Brewers did a good job. You could say bend not break. They really bent then. If that's the case, they really, really bent, but they certainly did not break, and that allowed them to be down just the one run in the fourth or the ninth, with the ability to win it when Jackson Churio got to the plate.

Freedom Boner. Member of the Donation Club, thank you for that. And a long time, Winklerverse, sir. I jumped so quickly when Churio hit that single, I almost blacked out. Ah, yeah, I jumped up, and then my kid was out of buddies this afternoon, but we made sure he was home for the end of the game.

We were thinking, I don't know, we we didn't, we I would say we were prepared to be okay with splitting one one. I would say. As I'm trying to think of the things I'm going to talk about, and we were talking about, I was I was prepared to be like, all right, one one good series. Let's talk about three. What do they do?

And go through that kind of stuff. This one hit has completely changed the complexion of the series, of course, and and possibly the entire postseason. And so I, I he fell. My uncle, he was sitting on my brother. And he was like on the ground, and I like dove on him, and I'm like, we want, we want.

It's just so great. It's just great. It's great. These stupid little things, these memories that happen, and they're happening because of sports.

So I think for anybody that's logged on to any of these podcasts or live streams over the years, yesterday. I was grinning from ear to ear. I like just couldn't believe that the Brewers or one of our teams benefited from something weird, and it wasn't us inventing a new way to lose. And then today, I'm just so happy for the comeback. I'm happy the guys never quit.

I'm happy that Brewers fans across the state get to see this. I'm happy that we get to wash out the taste of a Packers win. Yes, I said that. I'm happy that we can go to bed with our pillows, and we're thinking Jackson Churio going to bed, rather than the referees not giving a safety to the Packers because they just don't give safeties in the NFL anymore. Like, what's the deal?

Crowd was so loud, loud you couldn't hear the call. That's from Jake. I'm asking too much, but I want that ninth inning crowd to be the sixth inning. And then I want that sixth inning crowd to be the third inning, and you think, well, Bart, that's not sustainable. Watch these other games, and especially a town like Milwaukee.

Like it is, it is weird.

Okay, you do live your life through your kids, and. I'm I'm not saying he was aware of what was happening at five or four or three, but neither was I. But then when I became a Brewer fan and cognizant, I'm like, what's it going to take for this team to make the playoffs? This 1987 team starts 13 and 0, they don't make it. The playoffs were smaller then.

The 92 team, 92 wins. There's no world where that doesn't get you in the playoffs now, but the Blue Jays had like 96, and they won the AL East. They got in. We didn't. And I didn't see a playoff berth until 2008, and even then it wasn't guaranteed.

And there was another lull before we got back into the end of the Council era, and now this beginning of the Murphy era, which. Are kind of like separating themselves and what they are. This commune come together, communit commun communatively. Tim, this combined has been the golden age of Brewers baseball. But this Murphy era is even still a little bit different because now they're even racking up more.

Getting back to the NLCS, Craig did it in '18, Murphy last year, and we'll see about this year. But they've had the Brewers in their lives pretty much every year in the playoffs. I don't even know what kind of sports fan I am. If I'm a seven-year-old watching last night's game, staying up late for it, and then the next day watching this game. These are formative games.

These are games you remember for a long time. These are like me remembering Kitrick Taylor's catch, Favre's first game, or me remembering Favre to Sharp in the Silverdome. These wins are what those wins were for my kid and younger kids, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve. We grew up. We, if you're my age, grew up with Brewers baseball that was so bad we had to persevere.

Okay, and now to have these kids, I don't want. I don't want to be like, oh no, you don't deserve the playoffs till you're 24. But I I do think that like his world with this joy and any kid is combined with our like we we're in the playoffs every year now. We won 103 games. We're in a postseason game at Miller Park that feels like we should lose the entire time.

But we know there's still a chance that we're going to come back and win, and it is just unbelievable. It is just unbelievable, and I'm not dreading an upcoming series against the Dodgers or Braves or whatever. And I'll probably watch that game tonight. I probably wasn't going. I was going to watch more Lions Panthers, but I'll probably watch more of the baseball because you know they're still in it.

And also, the NFL sort of bores me right now. Packer game was boring, right? Was not. I mean, I remember going down to Tampa Bay, winning like thirty eight to three with Keith Jackson scoring three touchdowns.

Okay, now we're going down there. They would have ate us up if they had Baker Mayfield. I don't even want to talk about the Packers that much. I don't know why I keep like going over there, but I want to talk about the Brewers. And again, link is in the Facebook comments and YouTube comments.

If anybody wants to join, if you're on Twitter. It's on my Facebook or it's on my YouTube. If you want to join, in the comments, Tom is back. He says winning a playoff game with three airs is insane. I am about twenty minutes behind on these comments, so I'll try to rip through the ones that I catch here as I go.

And that is insane, and that's a testament to them not giving up, both just like throughout the game, but also inning to inning. Because there's a lot of these innings where one run could have been two, and I think that's a real big takeaway from this game. Yes, maybe they shouldn't have allowed any runs or one at the most. These errors were not pretty, and they can't win a World Series like this. And this is the other thing to me: like it does feel different.

I don't. We're Brewers fans. The end result will likely be the end result. I'm not putting up parade airs. All I'm saying is it feels different.

I don't know why. I don't know if it's the 103 wins. I don't know if it's where I'm at in my life. My kids a big part of it. I don't know what it is.

Um, but it certainly feels different. And again, thank God we're not playing Chicago. Could you imagine this series against Chicago? They would be trying to. This is just baseball.

It's strictly baseball. We're only talking baseball, and we've got a good series to talk about. That Charles, what a moment! I still can't get over the fact that Churio is 22 years old. That is insane.

Jake, with a win our way. I like that, and Bobby says, "Does the Packers win mean the Matt Lafleur pitcher comes down, or is that permanent?" No, I'll play a clip of what this asshole did today again. I'll play a clip of what this boner was up to. I don't understand what it is with people that are still on Lafleur. Lafleur didn't do this.

Lafleur didn't hold the floor. He's in charge of all of them. He's a piece of crap. Read Ty Dunn's article. I hate him.

This was the medicine I needed to cope with the Cooper injury. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That sucks. Derek After Dark says, "Wow, let's go, crew." End dubs also big because it probably shuts down Miller for Game Three. Miller will be available.

Game Three could be an elimination game.

Now it depends on what we're seeing.

So if it's like a three-run save opportunity for Miller, if it's six-three or three-nothing, maybe in the ninth inning they don't go to him right away because they know they'll have a game on on Wednesday.

So maybe, but I would think all hands are going to be on deck for the foreseeable future for Mason Miller and the Padres. But it does give them more to think about. Marcus is a world traveler. He finds himself in Austin. I believe I have that same Brewers hat from a giveaway long ago.

I got super lucky. I found this in a Goodwill in Denver, Colorado. Really, I I don't think that was a playoff giveaway. Yeah, I definitely had that hat though. Yeah, the brim's a little messed up, but I love it.

It's one of my. I went curvy today. I'm a curvy today. Yeah, this is like it's bent. I wouldn't even say it's curved or flat.

It's just bent, but I love it. Um, good to have you on here. Uh, what'd you think? Yeah, I'll I'll try to make this quick. I'm finishing up.

Work here, and I gotta run to the grocery store.

So, honestly, like I was with you on the crowd. I think they really showed up in the ninth inning. I think that's like they willed us to this victory. Maybe, maybe all this time I'm complaining for nothing. Maybe they just don't know you can stand up before the ninth.

Yeah, right. And it was almost like. Breaking through that glass ceiling, right? The nervousness kind of went away, and you're like, okay, like I'm supposed to be here, you know. And a lot of people, not even sports related, like personal life, you know, like they might have, you know, imposter syndrome and whatnot.

And I feel like as a fan base, we kind of have imposter syndrome that like we're not supposed to be there. But once you think, heck yeah, like this is our game, we're gonna win this series, and We're gonna help our team do it, but the the one take that I wanted to have quick with you, I wonder, do you remember? God, I can't. It was a playoff series a couple years ago, when Craig Council was like trying to be the smartest man in the room, and I think he called up Garrett Mitchell, but he called up a pinch hitter that hadn't played in like. Six games, or something, or like the entire series, called up a pinch hitter, and the dude like struck out in like a huge moment, and and he was just trying to be the smartest guy.

Like, oh, a lefty verse was that Winker? Was it? It might have been, but that was my thought against the Mets, huh? I don't. Someone the Mets, yes, I think it was against the Mets.

I think it was, but that was when Andrew Vaughn and Gary Sanchez came up to the plates as pinch hitters. I was like, "What is happening?" I was like, "Why is he doing this?" Like, just keep the people that have a rhythm going and that have actually seen pitches. Because remember, the Brewers had the first round by, so like they haven't played in like a week.

So like you're throwing these guys in in like this huge moment to throw to hit against 100 miles an hour. I haven't even seen a live pitch in weeks, so it's like I thought. Like I thought, being a Brewers fan was coming full circle. I thought I was about to have that moment again with Murphy, but I mean, thank God. I guess in a good sense.

I mean, they didn't hit into a double play. Like it was all right, and Churio saved the day. But watching Vaughn and then Sanchez go back to back pinch hitting in the ninth against, I I thought we were reliving a horror. Story so I was I went crazy when Churio hit that. My dog started freaking out.

My wife is like, "What the heck are you doing?" And I was like jumping and screaming and like, man. But you know, we're we're counting our eggs, right? We're not counting our chickens. Not counting our chickens. We're counting our eggs, though.

Yep. Nate says, "Let's eff and go." Feels like we have been outplayed ninety five percent of the series, but getting it done when it matters. Yeah, it's clutched up certainly. It's huge. My manager is live is from San Diego and lives in San Diego, so like we've been texting back and forth like this this entire series and stuff.

So he he's he likes Murph because Murph came from that organization. Mur Murph's got a big background with the. With the Padres and was with them for a lot of time.

So, but yeah, I mean, we're both we're both two franchises that have never won a World Series.

So it's like we're both like I don't know. We're both in the same boat a little bit.

So there's no hard feelings. Don't be too don't be too don't glow too much, or you won't be your manager anymore. Yeah, I know, right? No, I think I think we're cool. I think we're good, and.

He hates the Dodgers more than anything.

So if we win, we can't let him down on that one.

So, yeah, no, I will. Yeah, but also if they still somehow come back and win, you're going to be very much on that train too. Yeah, yeah, awesome, Bart.

Well, thank you for giving me the the platform to come in here. If you find out who that pinch hitter was, that that council was trying to be all big headed about, like I was getting some serious PTSD, and I'm just so glad that we that wasn't the the second and third out. That was the first and second out.

So, thank you, Bart. You have a good one. I'll I'll continue watching the rest of the show from my phone. Yeah, good to talk to you, Marcus. Who is now in Austin?

Was in Breckenridge, Colorado. Mitch Thunder Nellis—he's on a plane, and everyone's watching their devices. And everyone went crazy.

Well, that's good. FS1 still has not made it. I was just saying last night, FS1's come a long way, but it must not have made it to airport televisions. I have a blank screen here, and the name Ben W instead of Ben L is on it with the four exclamation points. I just saw Ben on the blank screen, and then I saw him press his finger to a button, and so now you have the blank screen.

So we are going to put the blank screen up and see if Ben comes back at any time. And he's right here. Two Ben Ws, one's a blank screen. Two Ben Ws. Can you hear me?

Yeah, very good. What's up? Great, an amazing victory, and this this is different. We have I don't know if we've ever had this as Wisconsin sports fans, but this team, the consistency and the consistent—I don't want to call it divine intervention. I don't want to call it devil magic, but it's just winning, consistent winning.

I'm not going. I goosebumps, man. I don't want. I don't want to say. I don't want to say.

You know. If if what? Maybe it is like Eucher because he passes away and everyone's like, "Oh, Eucher magic," and then we suck.

So maybe he's like, if it's really gonna be Eucher, I gotta wait a year.

So do it next year. Do it. Do it. Yeah, just amazing. CW got the Winkler verse gear on.

Yeah, put the put the hat on backwards in the ninth, dude. It was just, it was, it was magical. I don't even know. I got goosebumps. I went crazy.

My daughter's chanting, "Best team ever." My my five month old's crying. It was awesome. Five month old, you're crying. I'm trying to do the Winkler versus Rally Cab. It's there.

You go. Not really as good.

So we got game three. We got a late one. How late? Eight thirty. Oh, so that's gonna be like a—you'll do a post game, but that's gonna be one in twelve thirty.

Late one. Yeah.

So I really hope they don't. I mean, I want them to win regardless, but it'd be nice if they won and swept.

So, because Wednesday didn't start till nine. Nine. Nine. I was amazed that they had a seven thirty Saturday night game in Milwaukee. I thought that crowd would be a little bit rowdier on that type of a day, like.

You got so much going on. Beautiful weather, and then the crowd has been okay. But we need to be a little more for the next series. We got to be even louder. Big Bub says crowd must be better in the NLCS, and that's another thing I was thinking.

Like, I think a lot of the people that went there today have been to an NLDS game. Yeah, and even the NLCS. Like, there'll be more on the line. If we get to the World Series, and I'm still complaining about the crowd, I'm gonna go down there in January 6, American Family Field. We got two stops, two stops.

We got two stops. We got a J6 AM fam, and then we got a J6 Lambo. All in one day, all the day's work for the Winklerverse, dude. We got it. We got to get it done.

I think it doesn't get there though. What? Hopefully, doesn't get to that. Hopefully, we just have a great crowd. Everything is going to be.

I was really Jones and Jones into J six something. Um, Richard, thank you for the four ninety nine. Says keep up the great work, Alberto. Do you have any Packer thoughts, Ben? Oh man, I have a lot of Packer thoughts.

I have a I do have a lot of Packer thoughts, but I I can um I can wait if other people are going to hop on and talk more Brewers. Um. It was a terrible watch, and the fact that seeing Cooper go down just crushed me, dude. He like didn't do anything, and just we want we're the we're the funniest two and two team I think I've ever seen.

Well, for me, this is not a Super Bowl season, so if Edger and Cooper's out for the year, obviously I am bummed about that, but. I don't think it took us from Super Bowl contender to not. No, it's just like every week, it just feels like we have a season-ending injury, and it's been this way for weeks on end. And it's not not that I want to say one player's injury is worse than another, but it's how many can you endure with this bad of a head coach? It's it's just we won't have Coop back till next year, maybe.

Right, like. That's a big blow. On top of Zach Baca Guale and Jaden Reed, if he ever plays again, and you know Mike is still out, like the list just keeps going on. And I know it's a contact sport, but with a head coach as bad as Matt Lafleur, you can't overcome these big injuries. And they need to move on.

How about the Chargers and Texans both being zero and four? Not that surprising, I guess. Yeah, that's something. Raiders playing the Chiefs tough. I didn't see the end of that game.

Chiefs one. I just I just read. Yeah, yeah. I didn't. I didn't.

I mean, you know, come the Browns seventh inning, the flipping stopped. Yeah, I mean, just an electric game. It's so nice, like you're saying, to have an uncharacteristic victory, like a just a. A walk off, man. It's what eight plus years, and I don't know.

Truio's got the most home runs in Brewers postseason history, and he's only going to get more. It's just, it's an amazing time to be a Brewers fan and be in Milwaukee. I'm in the comments now, and people are talking about how ugly everyone is, including and especially me. Ah, okay. Matt in the fall says storybook year.

Wow, who? All time moment. The comments seem to be a lot of Packers suck, Brewers rule. It's what it should be. I mean, right?

Machado getting tossed out at third was a big play for sure. The series could still easily go five. Yes, it could. Fine, bring it back. We were up two zero on the Cubs last year, and then we couldn't get it done.

Right? Yeah, we were up then. Who do they put out on the mound for Game Three? Do they just go release? Going to be Dustin May.

You think it's going to? Is it already announced? Yeah, Murphy said. Oh, he did.

Okay. Wow. He said that's the reason we got him. He said those words in the presser. Yeah!

Wow!

He said he we got him to come out and pitch a big game like this or a playoff series.

So that's yeah, that's what we're gonna do. It'll be something to watch. Brewers are relentless. That's a good word for them. Yes, relentless.

Very good. Anyone assuming the NLCS needs to shut their mouth. All right, guess that's I guess that's my cue. Yeah.

All right, all right, all right, Ben. We'll see you. All right, Bart. Good times. Go Brewers.

W. Go Brewers. A double Wisconsin win day, unheard of. Drew, you are right about that. Happy Chef.

I was eleven when they went to the World Series. This is just awesome, man. Yeah, especially being eleven. That'd be like if the Packers had not yet made a Super Bowl. Because I was twelve and ninety six.

I mean, they've only made two more since and lost one, so it's not that different. But I don't know. We got the other one. The other one. I don't know.

They're both good, but there should be more. There, there should be more. I think when I die, I'm gonna say I'm so glad the Bucks got one. I'm so glad the Brewers got that one in 26. And then I'm going to think, no matter how many the Packers would have, they could have, they could win every Super Bowl until I'm dead.

And I'd still be mad that they don't have more Super Bowls because of this 30 year window, where they just wasted it. Just a complete waste.

So four to three, Brewers got the win. Um. A lot of right moves were pressed. Logan Henderson, Michael King, for what it's worth, on the other side, they both pitched well. A lot of errors in this game.

Again, the the bullpen's been doing its job for the most part. Uribe gave up a run, but Ashby was really good. Got out of what he needed to get out of McGill. McGill was great. That was a good.

I mean, that was a decision too. You brought in Trevor McGill down, and you're the home team, so okay, do that. Bring in your closer, and it worked. And they brought in Mason Miller early. They they were at least the broadcast booth was flirting if they were going to have to bring him into the seventh.

I said I don't think they've they said he ever had a seven out save because these guys they're they're prepared for the one inning. And they're prepared for the ninth inning. Even bringing McGillicuinn earlier the other night—that's a big risk. And then you brought him back in today. I think Logan, maybe, maybe early was a little.

Pat Murphy had said something. Maybe the nerves.

So all that this means is if these guys are having nerves, they're working through it. And by the time they play in their next game against the Dodgers, if that's what it is, or the Braves, or maybe not till 2028. I don't know. But the nerves will not be there. And they're working through the nerves.

So if you have guys working through the nerves, whether it's pitching or defensively, perhaps that Bryce play was so uncharacteristic. And I know sometimes they say, "Well, that's actually on the runner because of how fast he is." That's on the runner. He's so fat. I don't know. I mean, you just got to make the routine play the way that you are doing the routine play.

You just got to do the routine play where you where do you do your team, babiba, yeah. I am losing speech words. I am losing the ability to communicate. Alan says Eureba always makes you nervous. They all make me nervous.

I don't trust McGill from another. I don't trust anybody. I don't trust Churio. And he's the best. I did say because he came up, and we're you know we're talking wife, kid, brother.

My wife had asked, like, "Is this who you want at the plate?" And yeah, I said, if you if you if you were going to say, "There's the bases loaded, you have one out, Mason Miller's on the mound," who are you putting at the plate? I mean, you could throw out Yelich if you want, but again, this is an RBI situation, so maybe not. Maybe William Contreras, but you would have to argue for these other guys. Churio to me is the absolute obvious answer, and this is not the first time I mentioned one earlier. And there's been more.

This is not the first big moment where he's wanted it. Last night, I waxed poetic about Christian Yelich because Christian Yelich. He's got to start in these games. Christian Yelich is Christian Yelich. It it matters to him that he's a Brewer.

He did not come up in this system. He came over early in his career, but he like crammed. I'm a Brewer. I'm a Milwaukee Brewer. I want to know everything about their history, and I'm going to be their future.

And he's essentially the bridge, just like Braun was from two different generations of teams. He's that now, so he's connecting that whole era with this one, and then you could tie it back to Braun. But he's also thinking about Robin Yount, and any time these old guys come back, Christian's there, and he was very close with Yuke, possibly more than we even know.

So for how great Yelich is, for how much it matters for him to be a Brewer. Jackson Churio matters to him too. He grew up in this organization, but he's got a little bit more. Like Yelich had a big hit, he had a big at bat, big walk. But Churio gets up there, settling for nothing more or nothing less than the moment.

He wants the moment. A lot of guys have wanted the moment. I like the moment. Do I deliver in the moment? No.

But a lot of guys want the moment. It's a different thing to want the moment and then deliver in the moment. Because now, Churio comes up there. All the Padres saw this. They've seen the tape on him.

They know that this guy's not going to quit. He's not going to grind. And even that Sanchez at bat, man. I really thought he was going to strike out on an inside pitch, and they're talking about what they're trying to give Churio, and they're trying to set him up. And he had that one at 104, and he was like, "I should have had that one." And then it gets through the middle there, and the two runs score, and it's like, I think it's all that moment of you know when he hits it, two runs could score if he hits it.

So he's at the plate. You're thinking two runs could score. Please, please, please! It gets through. You're like, all right, Yelich is at home for sure.

And then you're like, oh yeah, that other run might score. And Frelick's coming around. And Frelick scores. Game's over. They win.

I can't even imagine the scenes outside of Miller Park right now, and Blue Mount, and on shuttles, and. It's a Sunday, and it's going to get a little sloppy in Milwaukee tonight. And I think that is deserved. I think again, when you go to work tomorrow, it is going to feel a lot different than work on Friday. No matter where you go, now the playoffs are here.

Playoff fever is here. We're going to start to see pop-up T-shirt stores. We're going to start to hear more Brewer wacky songs on the radio.

Okay, we're gonna hear you're gonna see my stupid face on Channel 12 more in the four four o'clock hour. Everyone's gonna be talking Brewers. Everything's lit up. Brewers win our way is a much better slogan than claws up. You're gonna see more.

You're gonna see like Fox 6 live at Miller Park, even though the game's in San Diego, just because they want to be a part of the action. Everyone's gonna want to be a part of the action. We have not punched our ticket to the NLCS yet. I'm well aware of that, but the hey, this could be a long playoffs has been activated. We'll at least be playing baseball.

Playoff baseball through Friday, so we we at least have another week. One of my gripes with the baseball playoffs is you could play 162 games and you never have time to settle into playoff fever, especially if you're a wild card team because you're on the road for 36 hours. You've lost two games. Your season's over. You don't even get to do anything.

You know you might get one watch party. You really need that time to activate as much as you can the playoff feel. The playoff feel for me—I hear like '80s jazz music in my head. The air tastes a little crisper. I—I feel like I don't know.

I—I must feel like it's 1982. That's an idea. If the Brewers do make it to the World Series, we should all pledge to live in Milwaukee like it's 1982. No internet, three channels. Everyone's got phones, home phones.

That's what that that's what we should pledge. We should live like it's 1982. If we love 1982 so much, we'll throw a parade for when they lose. David thinks Ashby is the de facto closer. Tom says Churio has generational Aaron Rodgers esque talent.

We are all witnessing the growth of a legend. Why isn't Vaughn getting more playing time? We need his bat. It's been matchups, but I think I think there's going to be a lot more Vaughn in the postseason. Sanchez probably not going to get a lot of time unless they DH him.

But if any of you DH him, who who else are you sitting? But I'm sure at some because because Contreras is going to catch every game. Yelich has been DHing so far. You could put him out in the field, I guess. Adam says, "Why does Churio remind me of Giannis and Lara reminds me of Thanasis?" Has anyone been by the Adetakumpros Adetakumpros store lately?

You'll never guess. There's a sign in the window of the Adetta Compros store. You'll never guess what it says. It says sale. It says sale.

Lawhand Luke from the Dirt Road says, "Watching my boys, listening to the call, just willing Frelick around third to beat the tag." Diesel seventy nine cents. Let's really throw it back. To 1982, should the Brewers open the stadium for a Game Three watch party? Will you stand? I wonder.

Did we we didn't even do that for the NLCS, did we?

Now they're not going to open that stadium because now they're all attracted to this little outside thing they put up that isn't that real, but they have room for a desk. I was really bummed you can't mini golf during the game. I thought it was that was kind of a bummer.

So Brewers, we'll still talk about them a little bit. I do want to talk about the Packers again. If anybody else wants to join and get in here, link is available. More to come on this with Carlos Ortiz on the national perspective tomorrow around noon, and then also. We will have on Tuesday.

I want to play this from Lafleur. First of all, I should read the whole Tyler Dunn article as a podcast. I should read it as a. I should do it. It's so good.

Remember earlier this year, there was an article about Lafleur where it said like he got mad at the printer and was focused on the printer and couldn't stop thinking about the printer. And I said, I don't think you take this with a grain of salt. I think this is who Matt Lafleur is. He gets caught up on the real little things as a perfectionist. And the Tyler Dunn article was sourced heavily that Matt Matt Lafleur is a perfectionist.

Matt Lafleur also pretty much took Titletown out of Titletown. He said, Why are we always talking about the Super Bowl? We got to focus more intently.

Okay, we got to focus more intently here. Even though we just traded multiple first round picks, have a lot of guys on top deals, we can't be thinking about the Super Bowl. I don't like anything this man is doing, not a single thing. Jason Wily cut this from the Lafleur press conference. This is Matt Lafleur being mad about something.

And he wants guesses and wrong answers only. Yes, there were some good things that we did. I thought we did a better job running the football. And look at just it—like you can tell a lot about a man how he reacts to a door squeaking when he's talking. I don't need to tell you anything about his X's and O's.

You can't be the head coach when you're this emotional. He gets set off too easily. You can't do it, or if you're that emotional, I'm an emotional guy. I coach kids soccer. This is not the me you get in coaching.

You get a calm me. You really do, because I coach at practice. And then I try to see what they're doing. This is a—I think this is a fundamental problem with coaching in America, because we have learned from the likes of Bobby Knight that basically some of these coaches, the way they bark out orders to their players, they don't think you know anything. Which means you, as the coach, don't know anything.

I do believe you coach in practice. You should be able. You should be a good enough coach that you can then watch the game from the sidelines, and the team should do what you want them to do.

Now, there's some managing to do and whatever, but and maybe soccer's different. You're not calling timeouts all the time and stuff. But I do think a lot of the coaching should be done in practice. And you have to be confident, and you have to be. You have to not.

I mean, same. It's the same face, win or lose. He looks the same. Matt Lafleur didn't have a great game. The Packers didn't have a great game.

I will shout out their offensive line, um, starting guys. I didn't even know we're still on the team. Jordan Morgan, Sean Ryan, Anthony Belton, Lake and Tomlinson got the start. Travis Glover. Who some people thought would be cut with these additions, Zeidler didn't play not yet, but they gave Jordan Love a lot more time today.

Love the interception was. He didn't see, and he talked about that, and he took accountability for it, and that's going to be something that love haters glom onto. Everyone, that's another thing with watching the Packers right now. Everyone's got their own agendas, and it's ruining everything for everybody, myself, I absolutely included. Iva Lafleur needs to get the out of here agenda, and some people have a.

He's good.

Some people, some people, literally blame everything else except Lafleur.

Some people truly think Matt Lafleur is super smart, and the organization's bad. The front office is bad. The running backs are bad. The wide receivers are bad. Quarterbacks bad.

Front office is bad. Everything's bad except for Matt Lafleur. Except for Matt Lafleur. There's times I think Jordan Love looks like he wants to be traded. Like I don't play here anymore.

I like Green Bay, whatever. But what am I doing? Even when he had really good throws, what was the really nice throw he had to Bo Melton, who just dropped it? What are we doing? What are we possibly doing here?

So interesting game. It was a boring game. I was bored, very bored. I don't know if that means that I'm just falling out of love with football. The games seem longer.

Obviously, I was excited for the. Brewers game to follow. Look, I was excited for that. Love today, twenty-two or thirty-one, ninety-seven, two touchdowns. Did have that pick, ninety-eight rating.

Caleb Johnson looked better until he fumbled. That was no good. But but Marshawn Lloyd didn't look good. Marshawn Lloyd is bad. Marshawn Lloyd.

He he jumped over a guy, but then another. He's like, there was one play he ran downward. He ran into. He ran into the guy. That was the play.

He fumbled.

Now that one went out of bounds, but he he forced his own fumble. Is what he did. He forced his own fumble. Um. Which was insane.

Watson was three for seven. Craft six for forty-two. He did drop a touchdown. Craft is heavily on my shit list. No, Lloyd's not good.

Lloyd was seven for thirteen. He caught five passes for thirty-six yards. He had one nice catch in open space. He is bad. He is not good.

Mark Redman had two catches for 29 yards. Who is that? Number 86. I still keep getting confused, and I see Jonu Smith too. Chris Brooks had a 27-yard run.

Ah, that was good. That was good. It just—it never. It was like the second, yeah, maybe third quarter. It was third quarter.

They were up seventeen to seven. I thought it just does not seem like the Packers are going to lose this game. I know it's the kind of game that they lose, but they're not going to lose this game. And then, and then they almost did. And for certain, for certain.

If Baker Mayfield was the quarterback, if this team was the Buccaneers from last year, and I like Daniels, I think he's going to be good. I like him at Kansas. I don't understand how you can start somewhere at D one for five years and not get drafted. Like, isn't that what you want? A guy with experience.

You're you're drafting Anthony Richardson at pick number four, who's played like nine games. And then you have these guys that are career starters. What do you think they're too old? You think they're too old or something? I don't know.

They hung on barely. It shouldn't have been that close. Again, I don't know why the NFL won't call safeties. They will like go out of their way not to call safety. It's very weird.

But the big news in this one, probably Edger and Cooper out for the season. Packers, they're two and two, and they're lucky to be it. But every game has pretty much felt the same, other than the Falcons when they poured it on at the end. But this felt like the Vikings game until they poured it on at the end. It's just a slog.

We are we are playing in a big vat of molasses. No one's going anywhere. No one's doing anything. Nothing looks good. You just gotta like hang on.

No one's got any confidence in anybody. You you gotta hang on or or what? This is into the Winkler verse. We are brought to you by Carl's Place. The voicemail line four zero two nine one five two two seven eight four zero two nine one five B A R T.

Hot take. Jake joins us all up in his Brewers gear, looking good. What's up, Jake? Can you hear me? Okay, you sound good.

What's up? All right. Yeah, just got back from the game. Oh, you were there. I was there.

Yes. I got to be honest, it was such a crazy swing of emotions. The The atmosphere inside the building after they had those couple false rallies and like it just it definitely as soon as Miller came into the game it felt over you could hear a pin drop in there, um it just felt like it wasn't our day it felt like we were losing to the Brewers where like all the weird stuff that normally happens to uh you know to other teams when they play us was happening to us so it's like okay is this karma like you know are we you know we have to pay the Pied Piper but with this team it's like you just you never. Give up on them. You never turn the game off.

You never give up hope, and it's just the playoffs are so—it's a different beast. One run feels like a five-run lead, and and Mason Miller comes into the game, and there was just so many times where I'm like, okay, well now it's over.

Well now it's over. Gary Sanchez comes up and a pinch hit, and I'm like, well now it's over. Like they have no shot, and Gary Sanchez draws a walk. Incredible. How on earth does that happen?

He did, you know. Use a challenge, then was wrong because that's his his brand and his trademark. But yeah, I mean, and then the the atmosphere after the hit was just pure bedlam. It's I don't know if I've ever seen Miller Park like that.

Well, if we're gonna be a reactionary crowd, then we better react to that.

Okay. Yeah.

There's, there's no, there's no question. I don't doubt for a second that Miller Park will go crazy for a playoff walk off. I don't doubt that for a second. I just don't trust us the other twenty six hours. Sure.

Yeah, it's. I mean, it was so crazy with the reaction that I didn't see the play at the plate because there was so many hands and people jumping, and my buddy that was with me was picking me up into the air. Like it's just you couldn't even. Oh, you're a tall guy too. Yeah, well, he's taller than me, but yeah, the the fans in the sections were great.

Great guys behind us. Great people all around us. Where were you? Yeah, what's that? Where were you?

We were on the field level 128. I want to say first base side.

So we were giving proper crap to that third base umpire who was horrific. You can't miss that many calls in a playoff game. The home plate umpire, oh yeah, the check swings. Yeah, they got yeah. You can't do it, and that led to ours.

I think all of ours were callable.

Well.

So okay, I think was the Padres one though was like a full swing. He went around. Yes, it was. If it wasn't a full swing, it was ninety-one percent. Yeah, it was to the point where I'm like, if this happens again, Murphy needs to get ejected from this game because you can't let him screw you over like this.

Yeah, I mean, you can't. You can't do anything anymore. But you can still argue that. Yeah, and Mur, you know, he's whatever. The home plate umpire, no better.

I think he had ten calls overturned tonight. It's playoffs. You you can't be that bad. Like I know it's not easy, but that's I do. What's your towel today?

What did it say? Today's towel says, "Who's a sponsor?" Johnson Controls. Uh, well, it says, "Win our way." Yeah, me. I have. Let's go.

It's very original. Do we have a sponsor? Um, let's see. You tell me. Let's say Happy Place Hem promo code Bart.

It should, but oh, waste management is the sponsor. Oh, fuck yeah! Yeah.

Oh, are we swearing tonight? No. Did we break the seal just now? I don't waste management. I have to get over because when I was ten, our soccer league was very combative.

It was, um. We were six and three, and we lost to the three best. Remember this? Yeah, we lost to Tobin Tool and Die Waste Management. Bummer.

And it was one other one, but they were all nine and zero, and they never played each other.

So the end of the year tournament—how does that work? They just never did.

So the end of the year tournament was around Robin of the top four teams. Us, who was six and three, losing to all those teams. Those teams playing each other for the first time, we got our asses pounded.

So you basically ran into the Dodgers. Then they were like your version of I believe Waste Management won. Yeah, that's a bomb.

So whenever I think of Waste Management, I still think soccer from being ten. Sure. Yeah, I saw the Packers won. Yay! Good, good for that.

I take Jake, the best, second best looking guest you have. Who's the first? Hmm. Grant, Horvat. Grant's a good-looking guy, but he's got to get rid of the.

I don't know about the mustache. I don't think it's uh. Uh oh. We got BOTG somewhere. At Edward Jones, we believe rich isn't about having life all figured out.

Nope, there's more. Oh boy! All right, I got to get off and listen to this. I love you guys. I can't hear.

I can't hear shit, Tim's saying. Oh, so he's just showing off. Talk, idiot! What's up, Bart? There it is.

Hi, can you hear me? Yes. Hold on! Look at look at this! Hold it!

Get him! Can't get him! Get him! Let's go! Why do you always do this to me?

I'm sorry. Where'd you sit? Can you hear me? There's one. Yes.

Okay. Hold on. Here he comes, Paul Molitor, in his Paul Molitor jersey. We gotta stop meeting like this. Hold on, my connection.

Well, Timmy, you you should not be having an iPhone six, dude. Bart, what's going? I love you. I love you. Don't you?

Don't you have WiFi? There. Hold on. Start this. Can you hear me?

Yeah, I love you, Tim. Oh boy, my my my connection. We need to get like out a little bit. There go the Padres. I'm leaving you.

You're. I'm kicking you out. Nope, nope. We're fine. We're fine now.

We can hear you now. Holden, we got to stop meeting like this. Stop! We gotta stop. What?

Hold on! Hold on! Here. Oh, this is like when he calls me on Snapchat. That was an incredible segment.

Well, I am a podcast live, and I don't take breaks. What I would do is make sure I have the connection. Give you a three-minute commercial break. Sure, that was fun. I have a non sequitur to say.

While I see if Tim comes back on, I went to the Bavarian Oktoberfest yesterday. I saw more people smoking cigarettes there combined than I've seen in my thirteen years living in Milwaukee. Yeah, nobody smokes these days. Everyone was puffing heaters last night. Everyone.

You think about when we were kids, because everybody smoked. Like you could smoke in McDonald's, you could smoke in, you know, in an airplane, and you wonder what happened to all those people. And I think we know. I think I'm going to pivot, and I'm going to take up smoking because. I think it's a lost art.

Like you, you do look cool when you smoke. It's come around to where it's cool again. Yeah, because no one does it now. Yeah, I want some cig. You guys better.

All right, are you better? Can you hear us? I told Kevin we have to stop meeting like this. I know. Out in front of Kelly's bleachers, there's a there's a beer sitting at the bar.

Who knows what's gonna happen to that beer? What's going on?

So you came back, by Jake. You came back just for this game. Yes, he did. We we got up at 3 a.m. Central, caught a 5 a.m.

flight, and into Chicago. Drove up here, slept a little bit at the hotel, and then and then had the magic all all day. I mean, how do you beat this? Seriously, how? How do you beat this?

How did you know this was the game, Holden? That you had to be at? I'm gonna be honest with you. I have Bill Belichick to thank for that because I would have come to Game One, except he's actually trying to coach a college team now and not, you know, have scandals all over the place.

So I had to stay in Raleigh on Saturday and then come up here for Game Two. I really wanted to go to Game One. I told him I thought this was the toughest game in the series to win because I thought Michael King was their best pitcher, and he was good. He's really good. What was it to describe to me what it was like?

Well, I mean, you got to understand, you and I are both in the same boat, Timmy, to an extent too. We watch these things in a different, with a different set of eyes. Usually, we're not full-on fans. We're sitting in a press box. We're speak for yourself.

We're told we're told not to make noise, but the the best job in the ballpark is a is I cannot believe I have a voice because the best job in the ballpark is a fan, right? Like to watch them put pressure and and and let me say it this way: what the Brewers do well is communal pressure. Everyone's going to remember the ninth and the Sanchez at bat and Chirio, but the seventh inning won the game. Walks. There was a forced error.

You remember Hamilton had the little grounder that the second baseman misplayed because he's speeding down the line after a couple of other base runners. They've changed pitchers. That forced Craig Stammond to bring in Mason Miller in the eighth, and he's throwing gas, but he had to throw forty pitches worth of gas, and the last one went right back up the gut. I mean, that's that's communal pressure. That's not just swinging for the fences once.

That's doing everything right for. Nine innings in a game, and I mean, dude, if anyone was ever convinced about Murphy's way over Council's way, Murphy just won the whole debate tonight. I think another big thing in this game was they had a lot. They're they're way too many errors.

Okay, yes, ones too many, threes a lot, but they limited those innings to one run. You get your run. That's not good, but you'll get your run. You're not getting two. We're gonna throw Machado on at third.

We're gonna get the strikeout when we need it. That was as big of a part as anything. Is that like they bent? Oh, they really bent, but they didn't allow a crooked number, and it gave him a shot at the end of the game with Jackson Churio, no better guy to be up there. And you've already seen it a little bit throughout the season.

He wants these moments, not because he wants to know can I live up to the moment. He knows if I'm up at the plate, we will win.

So let me be up there because we will win.

Well, and he okay, you could you could confirm this, Timmy, but inside the ballpark. When the bases are loaded and Cheerio comes up, the the scoreboard shows this close up shot of Cheerio walking up to the plate. And let me see if I can imitate what he did. It it was yeah. He just shakes his head like it was.

It was that look of that look of a moment is about to happen, and he's about to to to make it happen. I mean, that was to to me that was the the biggest part of it. He did that about a month ago. He did that about a month ago. Was that against the Cardinal or was that the clinching game?

What game was that? That was the clinching game. Yep, yep. Where he was like, and BA even caught it. He's like, sure you know something's about to happen here.

Yep. That was awesome. That's that's how he is. He he knows the moment's big. He knows it's his moment, and boy did he deliver tonight and last night too.

So you guys are both going to San Diego for Game Three, I am told. Of course, yep. We're catching the next flight out tomorrow. Are you leaving tomorrow, now, Kev? Tuesday, I got a three-day weekend out of all this, so I'll be up back in Raleigh Tuesday night.

Got ACC basketball tip-off in Charlotte at like 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, talking to Duke and UNC and all that. ACC basketball, what are we doing? Yuck! All right, I'm going to catch you guys blues.

Yeah, ACC basketball, whatever. I'm cutting you loose now. Take it easy, Bart. We'll see you soon.

Okay. Yeah.

Bye, buddies. Tim and Kevin Holden, formerly of CBS 58, now in Raleigh, North Carolina. Neil. Neil. Neil.

What's up, buddy, Neil? Bar, what's going on, bud? How you doing, man? Good to see you again. Good to see you too.

I don't think I've called in since the playoff debacle. Green Bay. Yeah.

Well, better time. This is rare because I'm thinking since Winkler verse started in like 22. Yeah, we've tried Bucks playoff runs, all bad. Yeah, we've tried Brewers playoff runs, mostly not great. We had the Cubs series; some are fun though.

But I didn't. I didn't have shows after that because I was at the park, getting drunk. And Packers playoffs are always bad. It's like the first time in the Winklerverse history that we're on after playoff games and smiling. I know.

Like even if even if this is it, yeah, for the twenty six Brewers, which would really suck if they if they blow this. But these two games are are just so out of the ordinary for what we're used to, and that's why it's so hard to not admit to myself. That it just feels different, and I don't know if different means they're going to go up two zero and then blow it. I don't think it does. I don't know if different means World Series.

I'm still so I got to see it before I can believe it. But something does feel different, and I'm enjoying the hell out of it as far as a sports weekend. Yes, the Badgers won. That was cool. But the bigger win was last week.

Yeah, the Packers won. That was fine. Um, but they lost Cooper. It does. I say Sports Weekend, but I really mean Brewers Weekend.

Like, this is as good as it gets. A crazy fluke play Saturday. A walk off Sunday. Comebacks both times. For a team that will never quit or give up, this is just great.

We've been due for some postseason luck in Wisconsin sports. I mean, we did get lucky in 2021 when Giannis was able to come back after the knee injury and then come back from 2-0 down. But they they just bodied Phoenix the rest of that series to come back. I think the X factor is merch. For the Brewers, and I agree with you wholeheartedly.

They are something is different. They won a hundred three games this year. They did it without winning. I think more than five games in a row. Whereas last season they were more streaky.

Um, even though they had a good season and made it to the NLCS, I think the X factor is Murph. He holds his guys accountable. They play the right way. Today, they made some defensive blunders where they were down two three, and that was the difference in the game. Two two errors or three errors led to two runs, but they kept fighting.

They drew the walks, and as soon as Jack Jack got to the plate, I knew they were gonna they were gonna win it. Like he and he was on that one hundred four mile an hour pitch, and the next pitch was I think the one that he hit up the middle. A lot of times you see guys in that final at bat, where, and one thing I told my brother was, I don't, I just don't want him to whimper out. Yeah, you see these games where you're down like two one, three one, three two, and you just you whimper out. It just there's nothing there.

It's three guys strike out, three ground out, or a walk, and then a double play, and then a strike out. I at least wanted a battle here. At least wanted a fight.

So you got bases loaded. You got you got Cheerio up, and you're right. There is there is a part of him that knows he's going to get this done, and he's not going to take anything no for for an answer. Yeah, and to have that moment, to have this happen, it's just it's just really, it's it's unbelievable. Like it's un.

This is the best, certainly Brewers weekend I've ever had. And every and that's another thing that I like about this, like everyone feels it. I I really everyone is in whether you're tangential or not. Another thing my wife said was she's like I really only get into the playoffs. Am I a bandwagon fan?

And I said no, no, no, no. Because one, they're two completely different sports. If we were to watch baseball like this every single night, we would be dead. Yes, you can't watch it that way. Two, it's not like you're just picking the team that's the best, and then you're.

This is the Milwaukee Brewers. You go to multiple games a year. Your your son's got a whole closet of Brewers stuff. Like no, no, no, no, no. You have Brewer stuff.

It's not like we have to go buy something. You have Brewer stuff. So everybody that you watch 162 games, you watch 16 innings. Everyone is here right now, and that. Is just that's the best for me, and I don't think that there's anything more.

And I don't want to cheapen out the Bucks either, because what happened at Fiser and Deer District that summer, after everything opened up, every neighborhood coming together, sixty thousand people out there, it was as good of a representation of Milwaukee as you'll ever have. We need a Brewers World Series for this town to reach. Like it's ultimate destiny. It is the missing piece of this town. I know this is a bugaboo for you, but I've noticed it.

I don't know if it's the towels. I know they get quiet when it's not quite going their way throughout the game, but I feel like the crowd has been better these first two games of this series. I'm a stickler. I still demand that they stand up more. I still want.

I still want pro. That what's the word? I don't want just reaction. Yeah.

Um. But yeah, I'm not gonna sit here after two wins and go through all my litany of complaints with the crowd. Yell at clouds. Yeah.

Now, if I see San Diego going crazy, if they're going Dustin, Dustin.

Well, then I'm gonna be pissed. I don't know. San Diego is a weird town for baseball. It's a lot of transplants. They bandwagon.

I think they were rocking against the Cubs, but I'll be curious to see if they can keep that going in that stadium. Um, I went to the game there the first week of the season. We were out in San Diego for spring break. They played the Giants. I thought.

I thought it was pretty engaged. I thought it was pretty good. I thought. You know, it's early.

Now it's San Diego and it's seventy degrees. It's not early April like it is here with games. Yeah, but I think I think they'll and they know their backs are against the wall, so they have to will their team. Yeah.

So we'll see how that goes. But I, I'm eager to get there. I hope it's just one game and done, because I don't want to stay up two nights. But I'm I'm excited. This is this is as good as it gets.

I think they're going to the World Series. I'm getting ahead of myself, but that's where I'm at. I can't say those words. I get it, but I don't feel like this is last year. No, and that's another thing.

That is another thing to me. Why I didn't want to play the Cubs because we're focused on the baseball and we're happy. We're not happy and also shitting on the team we just beat. We're just happy. Yeah, we're happy.

Last year, last year because of council, and it was the first time they met. That was our World Series. It absolutely was. It was for the fans. It was for the players.

It was for Murph. And we fell apart against the Dodgers. And as soon as Shohei hit three home runs on a Friday night, all right, this is going nowhere. Yeah, this is not. This is 103 wins.

This is a different team. Yeah, strictly baseball. This is a team that's similar to us in many ways, and we got to go out there and beat them. and And it's going to take, like, it is a game of inches. It is everything is.

Yep. Ah, just some comments. Um, thank you for admitting it. Of course, I'm admitting it. I don't know anyone that couldn't admit it.

So this year's different.

So I absolutely did not want the Cubs. I mean, oh, that would have been easier.

Well, we're still up two zero. Improbably, but we are still up two zero. Yep. Did you talk Packers at all? I jumped on late.

I mean, I said what I needed to say, which was five to eight minutes worth of stuff. But you're welcome to. Oh, that's the other thing I was going to say, though. Yeah.

I love. I love the Packers, and if I someone asked me who's your favorite team, like if I really could only save one, but there is nothing more I love. There is nothing more I love than these October weekends when the Brewers are the Packers. Where the Brewers are the dictator of mood, where Sunday is the the Packers were nothing more than a matinee for the main event. They were the undercard, they were the appetizer.

This, when the Brewers are like this, and it puts the Packers at bay a little bit, there's nothing more I love than that. Even loving the Packers. There's nothing I love more than the Packers, who I love. When they get knocked down a peg by the Brewers, who I also love.

So I don't know. I only have one kid. I wonder sometimes if I had a second kid. Like, God, I love my first kid so much. What would the second thing be?

And maybe like, that's how parents are. We love our kids all, and maybe we have a favorite kid. But boy, do we love when kid number two gets a gets a taste that gets one up on kid number one. We love when he puts that little bastard in his place. I don't know.

I just know I'm very excited. I remember one time when I was a kid, me and my siblings asked my dad who he loves the most, and he said, "I hate you all equally." Yeah, how's it going? Ours was just we all played soccer, and my dad was the coach.

So the favorite kid was who? Chuba Hubbard touchdown! I just got an alert. I'm not watching any games, which is bumming me out.

So I need to do that soon. Um, but but but yeah, it's just whoever played soccer was his favorite because he was the coach. Yeah, I look at it this way: Packers were definitely my first love. Like that was the first sport I could sit down and watch as a little kid. Uh, probably Bucks was next, and I got into Brewers baseball in middle school, probably.

But I think where I'm at with the Brewers is I get most worked up and tense watching Brewers games because it's the one team that I haven't seen win a championship yet.

So it's probably the I'm most invested in the Brewers nowadays. Yeah, I feel growing up like a drag dragging down my Packers fandom some. But the the way I get indoctrinated into it was Packers were like a religion. It was just Packers stuff everywhere. Yeah, church and then Packers starter jacket.

Packers Brewers was certainly a big deal. Bucks I had to kind of like find on my own. I felt like like what's this. Because even at the time, I feel like growing up in the '90s, yeah, everyone just like Jordan. We always watched Jordan because the Bucks were no good.

Now in the '80s, they were good, but nobody knows that. I guess I mean the Bucks made the playoffs every year in the '80s, which is crazy to me. Yep. All right, Neil, I'm gonna talk to Q, and then I'm gonna be done with this for that. All right, take it easy, bud.

Go Brewers. Thanks for jumping on. That's Neil. This is Q. Mr.

Bart. What's up, Q Money? What's up? I just getting home from the game. You were there too.

I was there. You go with Jake. You guys sit on each other's laps. I did not. I didn't know Jake was there.

Ah, it it was a fun game.

Well, actually, it honestly was not a fun game until like the last few innings.

So that doesn't matter. It's fun. It'll be fun to look back on. I was left field, section one thirty.

So I was just like roasting in the sun. Jake was one twenty eight. Oh my god, he was right there. He was like right there. That's so funny.

But yeah, I was just I was just getting blasted by the sun the whole time. He probably had two less innings in the sun than I did, but obviously, amazing results. I haven't listened to the rest of the pod. I'll catch up tomorrow, but I give all the credit to Pat Murphy. Two amazing pinch hits, and like so, you probably don't remember, but I I lived in San Diego for three years.

And I was like, "Yeah, yeah." You don't remember, but I lived in San Diego for three.

Well, you got to also be aware that, like, for the first two years of talking to you, I didn't listen to a word you said. That's probably true, but but I.

So I have like a soft spot for the Padres, but definitely not in this series and not this year. Like I haven't lived there in ten years. Um, but it's it's crazy because I like before I went to San Diego, I went to the Dodger series where Manny Machado. Like the reason we boo him was like ten years ago. It's ridiculous.

I'm so tired of booing him. I don't think it works. I think it helps him. I well, and then we were booing like three or four guys, and I like there's like a random dude next to me that knew baseball. I was like, "Are we just gonna boo everybody now?

Like, what's what's the point if we're just gonna boo?" But yeah, I don't know. It's you've said it since before the playoffs started, and a little bit like month of August and September, but like it just feels different this year. Um, maybe it's the big blue cow outside. I don't know, but we got new vibes. Probably the cow.

It's got to be the cow. Do it for the cow, guys. Like, don't do it for Yuke. Do it for that big fifty million dollar cow. Yeah.

So, anyways, um, go Brewers. Good to see you, Q. You too. See you, man. Q and Jake so close to each other didn't even know it.

What a night! What a day! Packers win. They got the Bears next week, so boom. Ah, hopefully we don't give a shit about that game either.

And we're talking more Brewers. Game three of this series is Tuesday night. Game four, if necessary, can say that in a good way. On Wednesday, we'll be talking about it all throughout the week right here on the Winklerverse. Right here in the Winklerverse.

Thanks for stopping in too. The Winkler verse, and as Tim would say, "Go Brewers!"
