Pickup fees may apply. Good evening, everybody. Welcome in to the Winkler Verse, and welcome to the Game One NLDS post-game show. I am Bart Winkler, talking about a Brewers three to win over the San Diego Padres, with some interesting drama at the end that I thought for sure was going to screw us over. I mean, I I don't know.

I turned the game off. I came down here and set up. And if you were to tell me that the game's actually not over, that the umpires then quickly re-reviewed and came back, and now the Brewers are down four three, and it's the bottom of the ninth. If you were to tell me that that actually happened, I would believe you without hesitation, because I don't recall. A time where something has happened to benefit the Brewers like this.

This is a state that needs a Milwaukee World Series championship more than anything. You can tell just how tense we are over winning and the Brewers and World Series and all that kind of stuff because. I did not like the crowd again tonight. I'm sorry. They were pumped up in the beginning.

They did their jump around thing, great, but they were not great the rest of the night. I didn't think. I mean, guys are in guys are in pitching jams in the bottom of the sixth, seventh inning, and you're just like, oh, this movie's all right. I mean, what are you doing?

So I will complain about that. Also, very glad they won. Very glad they won for the winning part, but also for the post game part because I didn't feel like it's Saturday night. I would love to dip into my happy place hemp supply promo code Bart twenty five percent off available online, and maybe watch you know SNL through Weekend Update or something, and then go to bed. I would love to do that.

And I may I would have still done a post game show if they lost, but I would like to have maybe you know skived out and had an excuse or done a short one, so that I could just get on with my night. Because if they did lose, not sure how much I would be talking about the game. I would probably be reading that article that Tyler Dunn wrote about Matt Lafleur, and I know some of you think everything Tyler Dunn says is fake. I don't know why you think that. That's bogus.

Tyler does a great job. He's got sources. He's very connected. And that Lafleur article, not great.

So we will let that slide for another day because we are happy about the Milwaukee Brewers winning Game One of the NLDS. To ruin those good vibes will be Andrew Wagner. Joining us throughout the postseason, Wags, what's up, my brother? That was an excellent intro, like that. It's true.

You you could not have nailed it more appropriately. I love it. I love it. They they always say they always say sports writers don't root for teams; they root for stories. I think that's different with you, but whatever.

How are you doing, buddy? I'm doing all right. I uh.

So I moved into a new apartment in an undisclosed location, and I am fairly certain, just based off the brief interactions I've had with my neighbors, I might be the only person in this building who is able to start his car without blowing into a device, not behind on child support, and allowed within 100 yards of a school or playground.

So your friends got you a place, yeah, yeah. Boom, boom, zoom, boom. You're in a you're in a mood tonight, brother. You're in a mood. I'm in a good mood.

Here's here's the main reason I'm in a good mood, because of the win. But also, so this ball, this was this was France at the plate. Thai France. And he hits the ball, and it looks like at first I'm thinking that's probably going to go foul, but then they show the field, and I'm like, "Oh no, this is bad!" And then it comes down at an angle. I'm like, "What?" And they're freaking out in the booth, obviously, as they should, because what is going on here?

The roof was closed, but that was yeah, that was part of the roof. That was part of the roof. I mean, if there's no roof, there's no, there's no, there's there's the sky.

So we benefited from this roof, and I thought for sure, especially with how they were saying in the booth that that was a home run. I thought not only are we now going to lose this game, but we've just invented again a new way to lose. Are you watching the highlights? I need you to turn it off. Whatever you're watching, I'm not watching anything.

Well, then where do I hear that from? I have no clue.

Okay, I oh wait, I think I think I turned the radio on for the cat. Hold on, hold on. All right, okay. Um, I do notice sometimes when I get high, I do hear things, and I think it's from like a different dimension. I think when you when you take enough of the THC, you do start hearing alternate worlds.

That's what I think.

So I thought this was a home run with other substances, not THC. I thought we invented a new way to lose, and I was very mad about that. And now, I was watching the game a little bit at the end with my wife and kid, and she called the Wilson Contreras home run. By the way, but I feel like a lot of people. I feel like a lot of people did, especially with the.

I mean, that was having. That was pretty impressive. I mean, I'm not gonna lie, like the dude is clutch. And it's funny because all this talk about well, the Brewers are duped in the playoffs.

Well, he and everyone was people were not happy with the game he was calling behind the dish.

So he comes through with this home run, gonna alleviate that. Yeah, and that was that was my only like concern of tonight was because I saw it on Twitter earlier. The schmucks, you know, when when San Diego went ahead, they're like, "Oh, here we go again, another Brewers choke job in the playoffs." It's the second inning of Game One. Chill out. Like, at least you were spared that dumbass bullshit of Brewers can't win the postseason.

Like, I was actually, I was actually worried for you having to deal with those people. I felt good. Throughout most of this game, things got a little dicey there. I think in the seventh, and then before McGill came in, but I felt good for most of this part. Even down two zero, they got out of a jam a little bit in the second inning to keep it two zero.

Miz, they had a great strategy on Miz. What was it? Thirty balls. I think they fouled off of him. Yeah, that's insane.

That is absolutely which is almost too many. It's like it's like your strategy's working a little too well. What what are you? What trash cans you banging on here? I don't know what's going on there.

I mean, it's not hard to figure out what he's throwing. I mean, he's got going around. The guy's got a great arsenal, but it's not hard to figure out what he's throwing. It's seventy-five percent chance for a chance of a fastball, twenty percent chance of a cutter, which should be a lot lower, and then five percent chance of random bullshit.

So I mean, it's not. It's it's hard to say they're stealing sides or anything like that when you know what he's going to throw. Ben says the game one roof gate makes up for the Pete Alonzo game three home run.

Well, that's why I brought up my wife because when we were talking, she said something to the effect of like, "Oh, does this cheap in the wind?" And I said, "No, for two reasons. One is that I think of the Nationals game and that ball hit a sprinkler." Okay, in 2019, Pete Alonso has his home run. I think of the Chris Taylor catch. I think of all these things that you can just come up with and be like, "How did that happen to us?" This is how did this happen to them, and we benefited from it.

So, I don't feel bad about this in any way, nor should anybody. And if it makes me feel anything, like I'm still. The the most I got to see it to believe it thing in my entire life is Brewers win a World Series. I believed the Bucks were going to win. I've believed the Packers were going to win before.

Sometimes they do.

Sometimes they don't. But I can never get there with the Brewers because it's the Milwaukee Brewers for whatever reason. But the vibes were already feeling different coming into this season. They won 103 games, no longer ignored. I still think they're the favorite in this series, despite what A Rod and Poppy and Jeter—you know, who's the other one?

Yeah, Jeter. Despite what they're going to say, that's fine. But now the fact that in a game something out of the ordinary happened and it benefited the Brewers—that's different.

So this. Playoffs might feel familiar in a way. Oh, the Brewers have been here before; they have, but it also feels different. Also, you are not a team that hits home runs a lot, and in the postseason, you need to hit home runs. And I think every team but one so far has won a game or two when with the home runs being in their favor.

Brewers had the two home runs tonight. Three, two.

So there's like it wasn't a perfect game. It was a really good. It was a really good. Like this is what you want in the postseason if you want to be entertained. And the Brewers did what they needed to do to win.

They got out of jams when they needed to. They had big hits when they needed to in the home runs, and they had something wonky go their way.

So however you're feeling about the team coming into this, I'm just yeah, I'm in a good mood. I'm in a good mood. That's fair. I mean, listen, you can have the most talented team in the world, but you have to have luck, and especially in a playoff game, in a playoff series, and to get that luck right off the bat, I mean, it's still only game one, and I still think this is the toughest matchup for the Brewers. I really, I really think that.

That's not me just shitting in your Cheerios like usual. Like that Padres bullpen is no joke. It helped that they got into it early today and started to make those guys work. This is gonna be a tough series. Like I, I think for sure this is going five, and I think it's fifty fifty.

I didn't want to play the Cubs, even though they may have been the easier opponent, with the bad bullpen and everything. I talked about this last year, but I just want this to be about the baseball. Yeah, don't. I don't want it to be about all the extra peripheral, like, and and that's going to be true tonight. Because if you're a Padres fan, you're going to be like, "What was that rule?" And I'll show the rule in a second.

What was that rule? What is this? We got screwed. All this kind of stuff, and they have every right to like question what happened there. I don't mind that.

But if the Cubs, that if this happened to the Cubs, right, it would be a colossal shit show. It would not. It would by what time is eleven twenty four by one thirty a.m. We won't even be talking about the roof anymore. We would be talking about random nonsense.

That guy that we would be talking about murder rates on the south side, homelessness. I don't know, man. Oh, your Twitter, your Twitter would have been. I would have sat back, gotten stoned, and just scrolled all night in your replies. It would have been fantastic.

That that Brett Taylor guy who runs that like bleacher weeds west side or whatever. He would have had like. By the way, thousand word investigation for Winkler verse. Uh, Canon, we support obvious shirts. We do not support Bleacher Nation.

I love obvious shirts. We don't. We don't support that M Bone guy, but we do support Sexy Little Brie. We do like Sexy Little Brie. We should get Bree on the podcast.

We should get Bree on on the show. We should. We like Bree. Bree, fine.

Okay. We like. Does your wife know that? I don't know. Maybe she's watching.

But she thinks Logan Henderson's a hottie, so I got to deal with that now. How fired up is the boy for this? He didn't make it all and all the way. All right. He's seven.

Um, we went to the Bavarian Oktoberfest. You didn't invite me. You did invite me. Dude, listen. I put eighty.

I took out in the ATM eighty bucks, and it gave me twenty. How many? How many goldfish should he try to win? We came home with a lot of junk, um, but they only gave me twenty. Because I came home with a hangover.

Yeah, I I said to the ladies at the front, I go, "Your ATM, I only got twenty. I I asked for eighty, and charged me eighty." And they're like, "That's crazy." Yeah, I don't think that ATM is working. Yeah, that's what I'm telling you. I'm telling you, it's not working. And they're like, "I'll talk to I'll talk to Josh about that." Call someone.

What's that German? I'll talk to Josh about that.

Well, yeah, he owes me sixty bucks. All right, I'll let him know. He's a good friend of mine, friend of the show.

Now they actually did reverse. Actually, I'm only out twenty bucks.

Okay. So I only need twenty bucks because they reversed it into an eighty into a forty, but that's a little more complicated. I didn't want to tell the whole story, but now you are having the day sixty bucks for me. Here is a comment from Charles. This was a big discussion pregame.

We love Murph and Yelich, but that RBI stat they showed for Yelley and Vaughn not starting against the lefty. I get it, but to me, it was the wrong call going with Yelley. Yelley with the C on his chest, which Looks awkward on a baseball uniform, but I still like it. I agree with you. I I see where Murph is coming from, and listen, this is the thing that you have to remember.

And I I had this argument at a previous radio station that I worked at with one of the everyday hosts that you might know. And sometimes when you make up the lineup, you're not just thinking about the nine guys you want starting. You're thinking about The matchups that are going to come later in the game, so you might start a guy. And he got a Vaughn pinch hit. Hit he got a hit later.

And I think I think that was exactly the situation that Murph had in mind. I think that's exactly the pitcher matchup that Murph had in mind when he sat down and made up the lineup today. He was thinking five innings ahead. Like, what's going to happen if they bring this guy in in this situation? Who do I have available off the bench?

That's a situation where I'm going to want Vaughn. And I think I think that's. That's the thing that get lost when we focus on the lineup every single day. Like you have to think beyond the first, second, and third inning. Yeah, I agree with that.

Bud saying a postseason win's sweet, no matter how it happens. I also think like it's Christian Yelich. You're playing Christian Yelich. Yeah, like even if he doesn't have a. If it's twenty thirty four and he still doesn't have a postseason RBI since twenty eighteen, Christian Yelich, you always want athletes that are as into your team as you are, and I think Yelich is that guy.

I think Yelich, I agree, takes a tremendous amount of pride in being a Brewer. I think he was extremely close with Yuke. In ways that maybe we don't even fully grasp, the fact that he would even think you're going to give me the C, I need to call Robin Yount. Like, when you're a fan, you you have baked in with you 40 years of history or whatever.

However old people are, when you have a player that comes in and could even like. Toe to toe, some of these guys on this '87 team with me, like if I go to if I want to ask him about Glenn Braggs or Robin Yount or B.J. Surhoff or Dan Plasack or Mark Clear, even maybe not Mark Clear, but he's got he cares so. I'm, yeah. Then eventually pinch hit, and you know, Vaughn got in, and all's well that ends well.

And Yelich got on base, and it looked like maybe you get an RBI, but it's too shallow, whatever. But you, politics are not. It's, it's, it's, it's Christian Yelich. It's Milwaukee Brewers. If you're getting cute with the lineup with Christian Yelich in Game One, maybe if it's Game Seven of the World Series, and you like really have to take a.

Really thought at these splits like we can't waste any at bat, but you have to believe that Yelich is going to come through for you.

So, also, if I was a manager, lefty righty splits just like annoy me in principle. I would just start my best guys and say, "You're a pro, figure it out, dude. You made it this far. I'm not, and I'm like, no one does that because it's the wrong move. But that's what I would do because I think they're stupid." Well, I see some people in the comments, you know, saying that that Vaughn would have lit up Robbie Ray and all this stuff.

Great, but knowing everything that we know about Christian Yelich, and like the same people that are complaining about his struggles, is that who you want coming off the bench in a? You know, game hanging in the balance situation against a fresh reliever that's throwing absolute smoke. Like you have to think about all the variables. You have to. It's really easy to look at those nine names and and just lose your shit.

But there's a lot that goes into it, and you do have to take into account guys coming off the bench, guys coming out of the bullpen. You have to take that into account when you're making your game plan. Tom says doorman lost weight. Don't know whether to congratulate him or wish him well. I still have no idea who doorman.

I have no idea who that is. But it's because I never watched the broadcast when I was working games.

So that's a broadcast bit. The doorman's the guy that sits at the opponent's visitor dugout, and he always gets up and lets him tells him to sit down. Ah. Yeah, and he looked much thinner, which I would just assume is some GLP one situation. But I mean, if he's sick, that's not good.

I don't know. Usually, usually you congratulate people when they lose weight, but I don't, I don't like, I don't like the weight loss congratulation because it means like you weren't. Calling me fat before. Basically, when you congratulate someone on their weight loss, it's a delayed insult that you're fat is what it is. Like, oh, you look good.

What about before? When I asked you, do I look fat? Does this does this shirt make my ass look fat? Yeah. Also, for the record, high life in a can.

No bueno. High Life bottle is a bottle only beer. I just want to go on the record with that. For the record, I had the worst NA beer at Oktoberfest tonight. Don't oh, I I I know exactly what you're talking about.

It was the W one. It was like weird. Yeah, mine Stefan. Yeah, it's gross. Yeah, I didn't like it.

Fair. Ah, be interesting. Says this is the best the Brewers got, huh? We gave you our worst starting pitcher, and you barely won. You had to cheat.

Welcome to Brewers baseball. Yep, the Padres fans were. You know what? I'm sorry, Padres fans. You don't get to talk shit because we all remember that stupid music video you guys put out, whatever that was, two years ago, three years ago.

That was the most cringe thing that has ever been produced in the history of social media. Ah, is that the one where they go, "That's what's it"? I think so. Carlos would always play it, and I never knew what the hell it was. I'm not going to be.

I'm trying to find the link now to send to you quickly. The Padres wrap. Oh yeah, it was it was bad. Um, we'll do this in the meantime. Here are the rules from Brewers.

dot com about what happens. Roof and cabling. If the ball strikes the roof, roof truss, or roof cable over fair territory, um, it's in play. But if caught. Batter is out and runners advance at own risk.

So that's what happened. That's what happened. If it's foul, it's a dead ball.

So then they were left to just challenge.

Well, could it maybe have been foul? But in the rules at Miller Park, that is an out. Assuming it gets caught, if Churio just let it drop there, I mean, then then the Padres are in business, which would have just been awful. But this ball is going out some five hundred feet, and instead, it hits this spot and almost like is right over where Churio is standing. It just goes.

That could have been. That could have been a just like. Dick Punch. I mean, every every playoff series, we always have people straggle in from the other fan base. It looks like be interesting is our guy tonight.

There'll be an asterisk on the Brewers. It will be legendary. You could win five rings. Doesn't matter. It'll still be known as cheaters.

So enjoy your white chicks handlebar mustaches. Oh, I think he's telling us to enjoy our white chicks. With is he shitting? Is he shitting on Raleigh Fingers, who also pitched for the Padres? Like, I think he's shitting on white chicks.

All right, all right.

Well, you keep keep. I mean, the the the problem here's here's something that I would like to say. When there, when you're. When you watch a baseball game and then rush to your basement to do a podcast, that's something that could be easily made fun of. But then, when you're from an opposing fan base, who then finds the podcast and then like gets really mad at them all night, there's a million things you could be doing right now that are fun.

You could be recording a new Padres rap video. I I sent you the link. It's it's it's yeah. Oh, we got the link here. Also, how do you like the the wood paneling?

Huh? You like that? I like it. It reminds it reminds me of my grandpa's basement. Yeah, it's exactly.

This place has not been updated since like 1986. If I if I could do if I could. Do this podcast from anywhere. It would be my grandpa's basement. It was just carpeted and wood paneling, and those roofs that look like there's, or not the roofs, but the tiles that are white.

Yeah, the drops like they have a hundred holes in them from pencils. The drops, yeah. Oh, and they had a they had a random ass bar in the corner, which was never used or stocked. Yep, it was just storage. It was just storage.

They had a bathroom that didn't lock, but was very narrow and uncomfortable. But a really good magazine rack. Were there were there old Playboys on there? No, he had a basement with like. He had part of the basement with like the electrical and the furnaces and all that stuff.

What? I just saw Robert James. You went comment of the night. That is. I used to be into being shit.

My shit on my legs. All right. These are our. These are my people. This this crowd tonight.

These are my people. Yeah, Linkler was a good place to be on a Saturday night. But he had these, like, there were just stickers everywhere from every vacation. He just, it was an ideal basement. I had a picture that I used as my background for a while, but I lost all those, which kind of bums me out.

But enough about my grandpa's basement.

So they win game one. I'll go through some other stuff. I put the link out if anybody wants to join. I do have the video, and for entertainment's sake, I'm going to play it. It's called "That's What's In." Billy, going down to yellow and brown.

That's what's in. Padres on the loose. Let's go, Goose. That's what's in. Bryce gonna lose, and man, he's gonna cruise.

That's what's in. Give Philly no slack, and send them back. That's what's in. I believe they were eliminated pretty quickly in that series. Yeah, that was.

Yeah, that was that was something. It's no Super Bowl shuffle, Bart. What was so? The Packers song, jump in the stands. That was one of ones.

Jump in the stands. Show me you are a Packer fan. Do it all across the land. Yeah, yeah. That was always weird because Leroy did it, and then Robert Brooks sang a song about it.

Yeah, and I don't think I don't think Robert ever. I asked Leroy about that once, and he was not really into talking about it. I was like, "What's the song?" And he's like, "Ah man, that's a story for another day." Yeah. Jake says, "Be interesting." Is the one in the front singing? Brewers have a roof, and then we got a lot.

Stick to the wall like Velcro. Why do I? I can't remember my damn birthday, but I can remember the lyrics to that song. That's what's in that one. No, jump in the stands.

So I would like to do a very Bart thing here and talk about the crowd. I thought it was piss poor again. It always is. It always is during the playoffs. It always is.

In the beginning, it seemed electric, and Miz. Miz seemed like he was fired up. He was throwing 105 to begin with. I don't think he didn't have it. I just think they were fouling off pitches that were otherwise strikes.

Yeah, I think it's because everyone gets so shit house by the third inning. You know they're half half comatose. But yeah, I've always I've always noticed. What did they give away tonight? Was it towels or was it thunder sticks?

I don't think they've given out thunder sticks in 20 years. Good though should be banned. It was towels. Ah, all the lint in the air. Yeah, Carl's the Carl was lame.

Carl knows Carl's place. All right, this guy stop commenting. You're not getting any more attention from any of us. Go to a bar, find love. Yeah, go find go find a white chicken and let her ride your face or something, guy.

How do we convince crowds to stay standing? We don't. That's a losing effort. I just feel like if it's the sixth inning, I'm not asking you.

So let me bitch about this.

Okay, they booed the crap out of Manny. Hold that thought. Hold that thought. I'm not asking people to stand the entire time. And when I put out there, you guys need to be standing.

I'm real tired of. I'm actually in a wheelchair. I can't stand. Obviously, I don't mean you, guy.

Okay, or like I'm a veteran and my legs were blown off in the war. Yeah, stand at a baseball game after what you did for my country. Obviously, I don't mean that. And you know, I don't make more noise for the sausage race than they do for like key moments in the game. I mean, hell, the number of times I see people trying to start the wave when it's a tie game in the seventh inning and the bases are loaded just blows my mind.

The crowd is when people when people when people are complaining that the crowd when when people are complaining about my complaint. It's not factoring in like you might think. Oh, the crowd was loud. Oh, the crowd was good. We didn't have a lot to cheer.

We cheered for what there was to cheer for. That's the problem. We are reactionary. All we do is cheer if we like something or not. We cheer like we're watching a movie.

Like there's a jump cut. I'm scared. There's a big kiss. We clap. There's a big reunion.

We cry. We don't like. Oh wow! There's a runner on first and second. There's two outs, and this pitcher's in a jam.

Why don't we stand up and clap and make it loud for the guy? I can't give you the the the Cubs. Say what you want. Them doing that Freddie thing. We won't even come close to anything like that in our lifetime.

If if the Rays and Brewers are in the World Series and Freddie pitches against us, we won't even think to do it to him. We'll be like, oh, he's so nice. He was so nice here. My favorite crowd thing that I've ever seen in a playoff game is still when the Pirates fans just started chanting Johnny or or Cueto, Cueto, Johnny Cueto, so and they rattled him so much he dropped the damn ball on the mound. Like that was amazing.

Yeah, and we don't do that, and I don't know if people think it's because of. Like we want to be Midwest nice, or we don't want to hurt feelings. I think we're just. I think what it comes down to is we're bitches. That's what it comes down to.

I say that about fans, and I get just raped through the calls. You? Oh well, no one likes it. Ah, they booed the crap out of Manny. Yeah.

Which he feeds off of. Yeah, they've been booing him for what eight years now, and I—I don't even remember why. Because he apparently stepped on Jesus Aguilar's foot running out a running on a grounder or something. Didn't? That's the most riled up Brewers fans get.

Didn't they like make up for that? Yeah. You want to rattle a guy like that? Just make the stadium stone silent when he walks up to the plate, and then you know someone cuss at him. Stupid!

We that you just and I'm not going to spend the whole night on the crowd, but I have to spend some of it on the crowd because we're so stupid. That if you tried, if you got on the microphone at Miller Park, whatever, right before the game, like the Padres can hear it, and you have a chance to talk to all forty thousand, and you say, "You say, all right, guys, when Manny comes up, we're not going to boo. We're all going to be silent, and I'll even give you five thousand dollars for every adult if they don't boo Machado. Half the stadium would still boo." They would still be like, "I do what I want. I boo, do what I want.

You want me to be loud? We're just so bad at it. I just, I love, like, I love. You don't, you don't know where you're gonna be born, and you can't. I love that I was born in Wisconsin.

I love that I was almost like made to love these teams. I had no other choice. None of us did. I don't love the fact that we're really terrible." In atmosphere, in game fans, and I cannot get over it. And I tried to stop complaining about it, and then I'm getting tweets all night, and it's just terrible.

Well, the checks come after the World Series. They'll come after the midterms. They'll come after the midterms. A little political humor there. Yeah, well, I mean, I wasn't going to vote either way, but five grand, shit.

Line up at the polls for that one. Is that only for people that actually paid their taxes? He said every every American citizen, adult and kid.

Now, all right. I'm gonna go knock. I'm gonna go knock some people up. Brewers tonight had three runs on seven hits. Bowers had a couple.

I don't. I don't mind him throwing home early. You need a perfect throw, but I don't mind that. There, Pratt was 0 for 4. Lara was 0 for 3.

Mitchell had a squibbler. Bottom of the lineup did not do much. They had to they had to use a lot of the bullpen earlier, a couple innings earlier than you would like. And game three is already going to shape up to be a bullpen day. But tomorrow they'll have Henderson on the mound.

You'll want at least six from him. You know, I don't think you're going to get that. I, I don't think, and I know the thirty falls had something to do with it. But I don't think they were planning to go Miz more than five. I think they were planning to play for the lead, get into the bullpen, and try to lock it down before they can do anything.

I, I think the short start was by design. Maybe not at that short, you know, because I'm going to go four innings, eighty eight pitches. But I, I thought he'd come back out for the yeah. I, I had a hunch that they probably had him. They probably had it built for a five inning start, then go to the bullpen, go through the order twice.

You know, not take any chances because again, you're you're hoping to play for a while yet, and. The guy still has a really heavy workload this year, and the cat just hijacked us. But I'm not I'm not totally surprised that it was a short start, and I wouldn't be surprised either for Henderson tomorrow because again, you do have you're coming off six days off, and yeah, you're playing back to back in early turnaround, but then you've got the off day and a late turnaround for game three, so you can play with it a little bit. Oh, this um, this series is going to be interesting. We got an earlier game tomorrow, three o'clock, and then we got late games Tuesday and then Wednesday, if necessary.

Which I believe it will be. I don't think, I don't think there's going to be a sweep. You want to, you want to come out of this one?

Well, you want to win. You want to win both your home games. I don't want to just go one. Obviously, yeah. But I, I wouldn't.

I listen. I, I think this is going. I, I said from the beginning, this is going five. I think they split at home. I think they split at road, and then it's whoever comes out standing in game five.

These two teams are really, really well matched. Like they, they, they match up really well, and that Padres bullpen, man, that is. That's the one bullpen that can give the Brewers' pen a run for their money. You have Mason Miller lurking in the back there. That's a that's a lights out group.

Yeah, I would think you are going to have a lot more games in the three, two, four, three, yep, six, four, two, one zone. Yeah, you are not seeing this. This is going to be the first team, the first team that gets a lead is going to go to their bullpen and they're going to try and shorten the game. Which and they got their lead so early today that that they kept Ray out there. They wanted him to get through twice, did not.

But yeah, if you're going to give up runs, you might as well give them up early. And again, this is not a Brewers team that's going to falter by that. And I know when it's down two nothing, I think a lot of Brewers fans are like, "Oh crap, here we go again." I was not like that. At least not until the ninth inning when it hit the. The cables.

Then I was, then I was like that. Then I was like that. Contreras after the game, I think if that ball doesn't hit there, it might break the glass of X golf.

So he thought it would be a home run. McGill said, "Oh crap!" Afterwards, did not know the rule related to the roof until the umpire told him. Murphy, as many fans are giving credit to Yuke for the assist. Conveniently, one year later, he didn't give us any assists last year, but now he's going to give us assists. Yeah, I'm.

I'm tired of that. Like I've seen the Euchers in the outfield. Just stop with that shit already. Just we want so bad. We want so bad to have like a ghost Eucher.

We we want to catch his eye. Like I think I saw Ghost Eucher at the ballpark. We want so badly. I also thought when Pat Murphy. Doubled down on the euchar letter that it made the first one pissed me off so.

It made the first one less cringy. The first one was really bad, but to double down sort of salvaged it a little bit. The second one was not as bad. I know, still weird. Dan says we need to puff out our chests.

The Brewers are effing awesome. I'm trying not to swear as much. YouTube doesn't like it, but we're all too scared to be boastful. Yeah, sorry, I dropped many f bombs already today. I don't care.

Brewers looked more tense from the start. Padres looked calm and confident. I don't know, but then you got to remember judge that. But even if that was, you are judging the Brewers. This is their first game of the postseason.

The Padres have already played a series, yeah.

So it's the Russ versus Rest thing.

So t here is going to be some. That's why I am not shocked that Pratt and Lara. Like I saw some before saying that Pratt looked lost. Like, what the hell do you expect? You are twenty one years old.

You are playing your first ever playoff game. You know the place is a shit show. Like. What do you expect? You think the guy was going to go out there and you know put on a Shohei Ohtani type game?

Um, Nucky Duck says Brewers beat the hottest team in baseball. Hopefully, they can grab two more. Padres are harder to beat than the Dodgers or the Braves. I don't know about that, but it's not going to be easy. I I agree with that.

I mean, maybe not the Dodgers. I'm not saying the Dodgers. No. Definitely, definitely harder to beat than the Braves. They're a hard team to beat, but let's be real—they're not—they're not harder than Dodgers.

And no one knows that better than the Padres, who have been the Dodgers' bitch for what fifty years. Greg agrees they might be the best team we face. They'll be the best team we face in this postseason if we lose. Ah, Dan, back to Dan. Honestly, I think the Brewers win in four.

Oh, Kyle thinks Eucher was in purgatory for a year, and now is in heaven. That would make sense.

So, are we just releasing Brewer movies about Eucher every year? I haven't seen it yet. I'm not. I haven't seen the '82 film yet. Neither am I.

I don't. I'm not watching these movies. You know what I do like watching? Magic, miracles, and true believers: the official documentary of the nineteen eighty-seven Milwaukee Brewers, narrated by Bob Uecker, which is available in complete form on YouTube. The eighty-seven, eighty-eight, eighty-nine highlight videos are all there.

They're all really yes. Team streak. They won their first 13 games. Imagine buying your kid a toy only to find the batteries aren't included, or buying furniture but missing the tools to build it. Frustrating, right?

Now imagine the exact same feeling, but you're paying way more. That is what buying business software usually feels like: fragmented, disconnected, and incredibly expensive. Granger knows. If you're a procurement manager at an industrial manufacturing facility, you're balancing inventory and budget while sourcing critical supplies across the operation. Too much inventory, cost climb. Too little, production slows. Granger's two billion dollars in on-hand inventory helps you get what you need when you need it, so you can help keep budgets balanced and lines moving.

Call one eight hundred Granger, click Granger dot com, or just stop by Granger for the ones who get it. Done. Then lost twelve in a row. Yeah, my dad made that. He took the poster from it and then put Sports Illustrated with some cards.

That's actually pretty cool. It has been in our basement forever at my old house where I grew up. I've got the original George Webb poster. Yep. I also kept a burger in my freezer for like twenty years.

I've still got I've got Lambeau Field turf in my freezer from that one giveaway. I'm surprised you didn't plant it in your backyard. I just I love this poster because when I'm learning about sports, I saw this poster a lot, and I asked my dad like 13 and 0. How good did the Brewers do that year? How far in the playoffs did they go?

Did we win a World Series that year? That was like my first sports question I ever asked. Ninety-one and seventy-one that season. That's what I think we got to go back to. And they finished third.

They finished third in the East. Um, Bart, I love you, but I don't want to be an a-hole Philly Chicago type gutter trash fan. I don't want that. I literally just want you to stand up when there's a. Two men on in the sixth inning, and there's two outs.

All I want you to do is stand up and clap, without having to be told by the scoreboard or, yeah, that's. I want you to have the ability to understand that you can impact what is happening as a collective group of forty thousand people. Why even sell tickets? Why people were so mad when they put the nets up and extended them? Why do we even need?

Why do we even need to be that close? Why don't we just put up soundproof barriers? You don't want to make a difference anyway. You don't want to make a difference, and don't say I'm too nervous. We've been here before.

Well, what's going to change that? You. I would also like to say that I am committed to these podcasts. Tomorrow, I will do one after the Brewers game, a Brewer Packer combo. I'm not doing one after the Packer game while the Brewers are on.

I'm sad. I'm sad. I won't be able to join you tomorrow, but I'll be there for games three and four. You'll be missed. You'll be missed.

Um. And I wanted to also reiterate that I am not going to go to any of these games. I am saving up for a potential World Series ticket, so that's what I'm doing. And what are you going to actually do with that money? Probably buy a boat.

Hang out Lake Geneva with all the douchebags. You you know, people are going to be tripping over themselves to pay twenty five hundred bucks to sit as close to the action as they can, so that they can look at their phones during the seventh inning. John is going to the game tomorrow. The last time you saw the Brewers play live, Rob Deer was on the team. All right.

Wow. Rob Deer, who then went on to play for the Tigers and Red Sox, I believe. I believe he played in Japan for a while. Yeah, Rob Deer's son. This is smart.

Yeah, that's not even funny. I'm not touching that man. Neil says Hendel going seven strong tomorrow. Bullpen game three after the odds. I saw that comment.

I don't unless he's blowing through guys, you know, two three pitches. I just don't see any way in hell that they're gonna that he's gonna go seven tomorrow. And that's not a knock on him. And before all the people sort of oh boy, did pitchers shut up. I don't think they're going to let him go seven tomorrow.

Bobby says, "Did you know that eighty percent of the time a team wins game one in a five-game series, they win the series? If this is going to go five, the Brewers won it tonight. If this is going five, because they won." They won the game on the margin. I mean, they want that this roof thing. I'm I almost I feel stupid.

I've been talking about anything else for the last forty minutes. Rami Maclov, who famously, as famously as I parade chairs famous, his whole thing is put a roof on it. This should be his magnum opus tonight. I mean, the roof saved you. I just thought of it.

Yeah, it's a it's a Rami night. Yeah, he's always saying it for rain delays and stuff, but it it hit the ball was hit so high that no one's ever hit it up there, have they? I haven't. I can't remember. I remember being like, oh, that almost.

I think I I know that I've seen it happen before. Like I saw Todd say, I don't think ever. I don't think I've seen on a home run or a potential home run, but I've seen balls hit the cable before, like. I've known that rule since they opened the stadium. Like that's in the ground rules.

Like it's it's and it's posted in every clubhouse. Every like every time a team comes into Milwaukee, every stadium has that park's ground rules in it, and that's listed on there. Kenneth, so what is the proper etiquette for pitching versus batting? Quiet versus loud? Concentration versus distraction?

Break it down like I'm your kiddo. And as far as the crowd. Think to yourself: Would Bart be mad I'm not standing right now? And then stand up if the. We're gonna have little bracelets.

WWBD. Yeah, you should. I got a text from somebody in about the seventh inning, where they said, "Game looks fun," and I said, "What are you talking about?" And they said, "I saw you on TV." And I said I wasn't on TV. I was then not at the game. I've actually been—how do I say this?

I've been a little backed up for a few days, so I was on the toilet for a. Best place to watch a game. I was on the toilet for several innings of this game, and I can confirm Bart did text me. I am constipated. I am.

So I text the guy a picture of me on my toilet with my watch, so he knew what time it was. It was ten oh nine. Where were you at ten oh nine tonight watching this game? I was taking a poop. What were you actually?

I made some progress. The front lines were destroyed in battle. But a lot of the calvary is still yet to be called. This is really what the people signed up for. Yeah.

Put a roof on it. Euchre's angel. Ball was a foul or an out. Either way, no, it wasn't. I just don't understand why.

Let's not be saying that ball would have been foul just to like make us feel better that we and we didn't even get away with something. We just Google Miller Park. That was the rule right there for everybody to see. Like this is we didn't cheat. Two thousand and one.

We didn't get away. We you don't have to feel bad about what happened. That you have to like convince yourself it was going to go foul. That was a home run. That was the furthest home run in the history of that stadium.

Okay, that home run would have smashed Vinnie Rattino's car out in the Logan lot. Maybe not serve up gopher balls to Jack Centurio and and fucking William Contreras, and you wouldn't have to worry about Ty France hitting the cable. Just a thought. Um, any comments that aren't from this weird ass guy? No, dang Bart, I will give you my six bowel movements a day.

I that's that's my normal territory. Normally, the factory you're in, you're out. You're in, you're out. But every now and then, there's a worker strike in my bum. I could do an entire podcast on shitting.

I'd be all for this. I know my buddy will. He would jump on. We have we sit in the garage drinking beer, discussing. This topic on a regular basis, and I I think we're onto something here.

When Churio hit the home run, I took a picture of the laptop on my bathroom floor, which I had perched up on the squatty potty we have in there for a better poop angle. Your wife really hitched your wagon to a noble steed. Ball is projected at three twenty-five. That ump's zone was terrible. I don't think so.

I think that ump was pretty good. He was calling a lot of stuff on the margins the right way, dude. There was one at bat. I think it was the guy before Machado. Were wasn't McGill?

No, maybe it was. I think it was Hall was the pitcher. I forget. I wanted to make a note of it, but he like painted every corner, but it was all balls. Like he couldn't get in there, and the and the ump was not biting.

I think the I think the Umps did a great job. They also, you know, helped us screw over the Padres by cheating. Statcast says no homer. I don't know, man. And then, how would you be like if it if it is supposed to be a homer?

How would you be like? How would you know? How would you? How would you? You can't give a home run to something that didn't happen, right?

Yeah. Yep, that ground rule has been there for 26 years. Like this is not. Wait, right, dude, Przinsky, Adamin, they were convinced that thing was a home run. They were convinced.

Did Lafleur sign this picture behind me? No, but it does look like it right here, doesn't it? That's just his shirt. Oh, it does look like he signed it. It does.

This article that Ty Dunro, by the way, basically everything I've just assumed about Matt Lafleur. I am really excited to go onto my own toilet and read this story. Like, yeah, I mean everything I've ever just assumed about Lafleur is a hundred percent true. He's a terrible leader. He wants things done his way.

Yeah, a lot of people really care about your asshole. Like. That's that says a lot about your listeners. They really are invested in your asshole. I will do a live stream of when it finally happens.

I'm thinking of the King of the Hill episode when Hank was stopped up, the Hallelujah chorus started playing. Although I'd rather have this than a kidney stone, I've never had a kidney stone. I have. It is fucking awful. There's been like two or three times where I thought I was getting one, and then it kind of goes away.

So maybe that's means future kidney stone. The stream brought to you by Animus, dude. The listeners tonight, on point. Y'all, y'all go have yourself a beer because you're coming in strong tonight. Into the fiber verse, and you know what?

Too, like I've been very open, but I'm—I don't care. I was—I was at a place tonight. We were at a friend's for the first few innings. The whole place knows I'm backed. I just told everybody I'm backed up.

I'm just backed up. I don't think that's. Bad to say, Trevor says the announcers on FS1 were terrible. I gave up and was pleasantly surprised that the radio call synced up with the TV pretty well. Who who is on the call for this series?

Well, it was Adam Amin, okay, for the radio. Not for TV. Yeah, I. I was just. It's gotta be a TV call.

It's Jeff because.

Well, BA wouldn't do radio anyway. But yeah, I had I had the radio on. I I got back into the house right as they were like reviewing the play.

So I know, I know Jeff in in um Lane. Thank you. Jeez, he's gonna kick my ass for that. The Lane train. Oh, you're not.

He was not crapping on Raleigh fingers. He's he's cleared up. He's crapping on our white chicks. You could do worse than a Wisconsin six, there, kiddo. Let me just tell you that.

You do a lot worse. Przinsky and Wayne Wright were up there too. I didn't. I just thought Amin was loud. He just was screaming a lot.

I don't mind. I got to say, I really like. I like. Benetti on the call for Sunday night. Like I think Benetti is probably the best broadcaster in the game right now on the national side.

And I wish the booth was just Joey Votto and Clayton Kershaw every game. Enough of like having the local. Oh, those guys were incredible. Benetti, Kershaw, and Votto are just absolutely terrific. That is the best national baseball booth that we have had in a long, long time.

Vaskurgen feels like he's cosplaying as 2005 Vaskurgen. Yeah, here's something surprising, although maybe not, since it's coming from me. I've never been a Bob Costas guy. Neither have I. I don't like being lectured.

It's when I go to a concert, I don't want to hear lectures on politics. When I'm watching a baseball game, I don't want lectures on history. If I want lectures, I'll go back to college. Yeah, and then who's the other one? Oh, Joe Davis is awful.

Yeah, I don't like Joe Davis, but I will say I don't care what anyone says. I love Joe Buck on baseball. I absolutely love. I mean, I like Joe Buck on football too, but I think Joe Buck was a phenomenal baseball broadcaster. The people that have spent their lives crapping on Joe Buck.

When he like retires or whatever, they're gonna be pretending like they were in on Joe Buck this whole time. Joe Buck is amazing. Joe Buck is. He's a really nice guy too. That that's the cool thing is like he is really nice.

He's nice. Everyone he comes across in the press box, he's great with the actual broadcast crew, like the text, the camera operator, all that shit. Like he's just a good dude. Yeah. That goes a long way.

I actually bought this sweater because I saw Council wearing it once pregame, and I was like, "I'm gonna buy it." Did you cut the cut the sleeves off like he did? The report is Council was shopping at the Shorewood Metro Market recently. Good for him. On the Cubs' last off day of the regular season that Monday. Good for him.

Because the Sendix and Whitefish Bay hadn't opened yet, and he's he's here. Why is he here? Do you think he watched the game? Oh, he absolutely watched the game. He absolutely watched the game.

Do you think he's all like? It's not like he does work around his house. It's not like well, got to tackle the honey do list. Gonna go replace the shitter. Stock shop firewood.

No, honey, why aren't the why why aren't the leaves pulled out of the gutter? Ah, well, ah, well. And don't forget the sniffle. There was some rain in the morning. Um, we didn't expect the ladder to be wooden.

I, I. I thought it was going to be a metal one. Oh, your hand went a little far south there, Bart. Why does Craig dress like he's fifteen years old? By the way, I don't know.

I've never understood that man. I never will understand that man. And. Nobody was happier than I when he left.

So you think he's you think he's watching the game? The Padres just beat him, and he used to manage the Brewers. And his fake best friend Pat Murphy's the manager. You think he's rooting against us? You mean he was born a Brewer?

I'm gonna tweet that. God, still the dumbest video campaign ever. He was born a Brewer, and he'll die a Cub. Who do you think? Born a brewer, Craig Council is rooting for in this series.

Should we should we text him and ask? Do you have his number? I do. Let me see if I do. You have his number?

I do. Hold on. Can you pull it up? I just want to see if I have it. Actually, do you have it?

I do. Okay, hold on. Where the hell?

Okay, is the? I'm sending it to you. No, no, no, no! Don't. Is the fourth number a one?

No, is the fourth number an eight? Yes. And is the last number a one? Yes. Oh shit!

I have it. Oh, TV wants to join the show. Why do I have it? He's probably watching this. What's up, Craigers?

Craig, when you were at the Metro Market, my friend told me you were there, and so I raced over there to come find you.

Now, what would I have done if I saw you? I don't know, but I definitely raced over there to see you. You think he's rooting for the Brewers or the Pods? I have no idea. I don't think that man has a soul, so who knows?

He's probably watching. Aren't your Cincinnati Bearcats on right now? I believe so. Yes. Yeah, they got a late game.

He's probably watching that. Can I also just say how far losing seventeen to nothing to Arizona? God damn it! Oh, did you watch the Badgers? I parts of it.

What the hell? Are they suddenly a football team again? Yeah, all they needed was one game, dude. A ball hit the roof, and then Chirio caught it, and then the Brewers won. You're loving this.

I just it's it's it's look, and this may be short lived. We don't we don't know how this series goes, but there's been so much BS. It's just nice. It's just nice to get one, you know. Enjoy it.

Enjoy it, Bart. Enjoy it. Go to bed on a high note. When life just keeps burying you, isn't it nice just to have a good day once in a while? I wouldn't know.

I wouldn't know. I'll be spending my Sunday removing wood paneling. Um, Brandon says, somewhat related. I have a phone number for Bud Seelig because he kept calling me randomly in the late 2010s. Wrong number.

I remember my first phone call from Bud Seelig, a very angry Bud Seelig. That was a coming-of-age moment, and now we're good friends. Good, you say you are good friends with Bud, yeah, and you are doing the show with me, yeah. Harry says, "Circling back to your backed-up bottles, have you tried coffee yet? I drink three coffees a day.

I am pissed off. My coffee maker broke." Ooh, Dave, who made it to the tailgate, got one of those koozies and made it his logo. Dave, Dave drove down for the—he drove like three hours for the tailgate. Beast. F the Cubs is all Dave has to say.

All right. How would Spiro Didis pronounce Jacob Mizerowski? Ooh, good question. Oh, by the way, because he's the one that goes Yannis. I saw some of this Heat game tonight, where Giannis is just getting an ones now because he's in a Heat jersey, not a Bucks jersey.

Good rinse. Logan Henderson versus Wave Legend Michael King tomorrow. Um, nicely done. I thought of that. I thought of that the other day when I was watching the Padres game.

I'm like cool, Michael King, former Wave legend. We could call Michael King right now. Number thirteen, right? Yeah, they retired his number. Michael King is the he runs the soccer that I coach in.

Okay, so we're boys, Kinger. I go to my state. What's up, Kinger? He goes, and then he smacks you across the face. He goes, "Don't ever call me that again." Yeah, I would assume so.

I hung out. I hung out with Victor Negara quite a bit. You hung out with Victor Negara? Yeah. Cori and Cream City.

No, I don't go to Jake's Deli with Bud. But for years, I lived a couple of blocks away from Gillies, which is also the house that I grew up in.

So, like when we were kids, we knew if we were on our bikes down there at eleven thirty, we'd see Bud Seale and we could scam for tickets off of him. Then when I was older, I'd walk down and have Longshine run into him, and we'd just sit there and shoot the shit about baseball.

So not Jake's deli, Gillies just as good. I don't really care for pastrami. Um, a different bud, bud, coach bud, Budenholzer. I would always seem down at the Calderon Club, and we'd say, "Hey, Coach Bud, how about the naked Santa's we saw there?" And get your spare tires. It's a great story.

Calderon Club is spectacular. Gino, I've ever—I don't know—I've ever been. Oh, let's go. We can have a gentleman's excursion. I've had it.

I don't know. I've ever been there. I think I've had it, like catered or something. I don't know. Gino, hey Gino, don't say anything, Gino, from me.

Yeah. Gino's the man, mayor of Third Street.

So, based on tonight, how do you think things play out tomorrow? I think you're gonna see more of the same. Like, I these are not gonna be blowout games. I mean, these are two really good pitching staffs. They'll be entertaining, which means they'll be tense.

They'll be tense games, like three, two, four, three. I think that's what every game in this series is gonna be. And whichever team gets the most breaks to go their way, case in point, that's the team that comes out in the end. This is a really closely matched series. Again, really good pitching staffs, incredibly good bullpens.

It's going to be close. It's going to be tense. The ball hit the roof. That's so awesome. We're going to wrap up here, episode number seven hundred and fifty-eight.

We are getting closer to seven seven seven, and thanks to our friends at Pato, we are counting up to the lucky sevens number. We will be doing a live show there in the month of October. I got to figure out when. I would like to time episode seven seven seven with a World Series game.

So I'll do the math on that this weekend, and then check out this prize. We're going to do a giveaway where someone will be able to bring a guest. We'll have a paid for food and bar tab at the sports book to watch Bucks Heat with me and Tim Shea. Oh boy, the gift that keeps on giving. Yeah, and and due to popular or contrary to popular belief, is what I'm trying to say.

This is actually going to be deemed a prize and something that people are looking for. All right, Buckshot Bobby says six two. That would be baseball logic. Like expect the unexpected. Like, yeah.

And our friend be interesting says Brewers ten three. What a what a weird night for this guy. He was interesting. That is true.
