That Marcus Freeman. Lambeau Field Notre Dame shirt. Did that piss anyone off too? Again, I just I don't like that they played there I don't like that they played there. We did a post-game on Sunday night.

If you want more Badger stuff, otherwise, Grant and I will discuss our thoughts a few days later in today's episode, which isn't mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. That's right. And in the month of September, you know by now, but it's important to remind you every time, and for you to help us spread the word, us being the Winklerverse. And the Wisconsin Bike Fed, as September is the time of the year and the fall, the early fall, even before daylight savings.

It goes into effect. This is the time of the year when crashes. Are highest. There's a lot of activity after school, after work. It also starts to get darker after school, after work.

And even if it's not pitch black, it gets dimmer.

So, this is the time of the year where we got to be attentive to the roads. That's why the Wisconsin Bike Fed and I are reminding people driving and biking: use your lights as the daylight hours wane. If you're operating near other users, do be aware, slow down, look around as much as you can because we can all together do our part to reduce what we're calling low light crashes. Just be visible, be predictable on the road, and everyone can get to where they're going safely. You can check out more, wisconsinbikefed.org.

And just like that, here they are. It's Grant Bills, it's Paul Emig. Into the Winklerverse. Grant and I will talk some college football later in this episode. We are not even.

Well, I guess we are now one week into the season, and we have. A game that maybe won't count, they're trying to reverse it, Western Michigan. One of the NCAA, I just saw this: Jeff Serrogan, we know that name. He does his rankings. He put Western Michigan 112-7.

He's like, I don't care. That's what happened. And then now, LSU, the conference is going to be like, do we have to kick these motherfuckers out if they're going to play with pros?

So. Calux football insane. And again, the thing we like the best about sports. is that it gives us an avenue to talk about other things. Yeah.

I really believe that. I was listening to Rami and Kuhn today. Um and they were talking about The Niners traveling and the Rams, the Rams are just going. Yeah. And the Niners got there like.

I think they went there when the game was first announced. That that isn't an I find that situation very it's baseball-ish in that the one team is going all in with their travel to win this one game, and the other team is operating to preserve themselves for the so if the if If the team. Hold on. No, I got this wrong. If the Niners lose, it's almost like they lose twice because they've gone all into in this one and bone themselves for week two.

So I.

Sorry to interrupt you. I do think the travel difference is very interesting there.

Well, I have the stat. McVay has outscored teams 92 to 17 in the three international games. Whoa. He has played. Yeah.

Now they've not been in Australia, but. But that is something I just, but I'm listening to these guys talk about travel for 15 minutes. And it like has something to do with sports. But it's not sports. Right.

There's just a lot of, like, how often, even do we? Talk about the X's and O's of a game. We just why It's just, it's very interesting once you listen with that. frame of mind or maybe I maybe I'm just maybe I'm just I don't know. Maybe no one gives a shit about what I'm saying.

I don't know.

Okay, well, there's two people that don't fucking care. Great. Grant was just saying how he's people, obviously, care. Bard, come on. Lots of people listen to your show.

You know what I'm saying, though, Grant, as an established sports radio host. Like we're talking about rivalries and how to fan and What moves the phone lines? It's not. You know, is the read option gonna give the Packers issues on Sunday? It's that one passing comment you made about the McDonalds off that one highway you used one time and now all of a sudden everyone's got a story.

I do miss I do miss how intricate When I was producing the big show, how intricate some of the topics would be. Like what? Like, all right, guys, the Packers have just signed some linebackers, Devondre Campbell. Do you think Devondre Campbell should be making four years, $14 million per? Or is he more of a $10 million guy?

414. Oh, sorry, honey, Susan. The Devondre Campbell question I've been Incessantly talking to you about is finally being presented in a call and response type format on my favorite radio show. I must call in. This is the yeah, the Chris Middleton.

He's wor he's when he gets his first contract. He's good, but I don't think he's worth ten million.

Well is he a number two? Yeah, well, who's the number two receiver? True number two. A true number two. You know, when Randall Cobb was able to be the number one, he was such an ingrained number two that he did not do good as a number one.

Right. Because Jordy got hurt and then I. Red on Bill's show. Oh no, Jordy's fine. Oh no, that was a fake tweet.

I did do that one day I produced for him. Was that in 2015? When he blows. When Jordy got hurt.

Well.

Okay. Did you forget that? Bart, did we produce big show the same Year? As each other? Yeah, I think I did some days and you did some days.

Okay. It was 2015 then. I was. What, September through December, most days? But you might have.

Did I train you on an Admiral's game once? Admirals, I um Maybe. I don't know.

It all blurs together. All right. Your time is precious today. What do you got for us, boys? All right.

I have. One US Open tennis question. Great. And then I wish we were talking about that. I realize this is the wrong audience.

Okay, two Packers questions. I want to start with. Um Start with this one. I vow to not react Overreact or underreact to whatever the outcome is of Packers Vikings this Sunday. Or mm-mm.

I'm going to say you will not vow. You will likely. overreact or underreact, you will make a declaration of sorts off this game.

Well Cool. Week one is so weird. And we know this, and we do this every year. And then there's these strange outcomes. There will be one weird upset, but we're not involved in that.

That's not well. You don't know that until you're playing it. You're like, and then the Vikings and Packers, they're not that'sn't the Vikings favored? Are they at in Green Bay? It's a US bank.

Yeah, it's it's Minnesota. Tim! I bought tickets for a game this weekend at Lambeau in Green Ben. No, you bought tickets for a Luke Combs. His residency continues at Lambeau this weekend.

I mean, the site looked good. It's called, have you guys heard of this one? Ticketmister.com? I also got tickets to the Brewers game tonight at stubgrub.com. Good place.

trustworthy company, I'm sure. I've been owned by Stub Hub, so I can only imagine what Stub Grub did for you. I got tickets to the Buck Season Opener, though. That is real. I got them from faketickets.eu.

But you sorry to interrupt, by the way. I derailed us. I think the Vikings are favored by a point or two last time I checked.

So, even if the Packers lose, I don't think that qualifies as the weird week one upset, right? Do you know why I like that we're playing the Vikings in week one? Why? Tell us. I'll tell you why, Paul.

Thank you. Because. They always say When two teams like this get together, throw the records out. Oh, sure. We don't have to.

But we don't have records this week.

So everyone's zero and zero.

So we can actually get the test. Of who's better and who's not.

So for that reason, Hashtag shark tank. I am going to. Overreact to whatever happens because this could, there could be more, no more telling game than when both teams come in at 0-0.

So, Grant, before you answer, and while that may have not made sense, or I didn't believe it at the beginning of my question, I feel confident enough in how I phrased it that that is going to be my official point.

So, before Grant, you answer, which I'm curious to hear, I. At this time of this part of the week, I'm telling myself. No Micah Parsons, Tucker Kraft just coming back. It's week one: anomalies, all of this stuff. that I'm telling myself Yes, I vow to not overreact, to underreact, to make a bigger deal out of it than what a week one game has usually.

Like the 14-3 Patriots last year lost in week one to, was it Atlanta? But like, there's. Anomalies every year.

So I'm telling myself five days out. Raiders, was it the Raiders? Raiders. Good, good, better memory than me.

Now that you say Raiders, I'm pretty sure you're right. I'm telling myself now, five days out. But the year before, Cincinnati lost to Jared Mayo's Patriots. Yeah, Gerard. Gerard.

I'm telling myself now I won't overreact. It it's not It's what's week one is you should really really take one get week one with a get with a grain of salt But what are you overreacting to? Like, you have to have a baseline of what you think. Yeah, but like for you, it would be like you've got your two takes you're committed to, which are very in contrast with each other. Matt LaFleur stinks, Jordan Love is great.

So, like, either way, you win because you can go after one of those two things. Or both. Maybe they lose while... Love looks great. I don't know.

But I think by the time the game is happening That's what like right now I have like an emotionless approach to a week one game. I'm wondering if that's going to change once it starts happening. But right now, I'm vowing. To not overreact. Grant Bills, you vow to not overreact to a week one game, win or lose for the Packers.

Mm-hmm or Oh, well, interesting. Win or lose. I might overreact if the Packers win by a lot. I hadn't considered that, but I assume the question was. If the Packers lose not to overreact.

No, like it's not quite like the week one of 162-game MLB season, but the NFL has gotten increasingly like week one is this. Preseason adjacent. Exhibition game that almost means nothing in December, except I mean, the win-the-losses can make a big difference if it's. 10 and a half. A win in September is one you don't have to get in December, and God knows the Packers need as many of those as they can get.

So I will pose your question one more time so I can answer it. I vow to not overreact to the week one game, win or lose by the Green Bay Packers. Mm-hmm, or mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm. Mm-hmm. Because I don't think the Packers are going to win.

And I don't think the Packers are going to have an awesome season. I think they'll be solid. And maybe as good as last year, plus or minus a win.

So if they lose at Minnesota, I I'm not feeling like I must drop fine. I didn't see this coming. They should probably lose this game there without Parsons. And did you guys hear Adam Stenovich's comment today about the offensive line? I did.

Yeah. Please enlighten me, no.

Well, I have it, Tim. If you want to go to the show.

Sorry, Tim, I'm springing this on you. This is Steno number three. Here you go. Do you know what you have on your offensive line right now?

Well, no, as far as like Who's going to be starting and things like that? It's still a work in progress, unfortunately, with the injury situations to Banks and Zach. Yeah, I mean we have plans for everything and we're going to make the best of it, whoever's out there. We're just going to focus on our play style, doing a great job communicating and going and playing our brand of football.

So Yeah, I mean we have our plans and we'll just kind of Roll with the punches like we always do.

So, no Parsons. Kraft, probably limited. Who's on the O-line? I'm not sure. You've had two pairs of gloves this entire time.

Dumb and dumber. You've been able to play audio just into the podcast this entire time and never have done it so seamlessly like that.

Well, why would I ever need to do that in the podcast? That was wonderful. Also, that was Tim. Yeah, I was gonna say. Discover top-rated stays loved by guests.

And then I was going to pick up after the cut. But then I thought.

I could see you ready to pick up after the Grant's cut. He's going to pick up after the cut.

So, just a lot of uncertainty, even more so today. I don't think they're going to win, so I can't overreact when they don't win.

Okay. Brian Floor is going to dial it up. And Harrison Smith is going to make some play on a big back, baby.

So, you vow to not overreact to a loss. You do not vow to overreact if the Packers win.

Well, the more I think about it now, if they win, I will be happy. But they looked awesome in week one and week two lat. You know what I mean? Like, no. Right.

I don't think. Mm-hmm. You know what? I'm going to get chesty. There is not a single result on planet Earth that can get me to overreact.

Come next Monday. Come Monday. All right. I guess I would say called overreaction Monday. A big win.

A big blowout win. would be different. I would probably Adjust my reactions. I just I I don't I feel here's what I feel like I feel like the average Packer fan. Average Has really optimistic feelings about this season.

I agree. Like They were playing well, and then Parsons and Kraft get hurt. Yeah. The next natural progression.

Well, you had nine wins and then you lost them.

So now you're getting your two of your most important guys back. Cool. What? Who were the two most important guys you're getting back? Kraft and Parsons?

Two of the most important guys. No, no, I'm not saying you were. I'm more saying they're not back yet, though. Or at least overall for the season. Oh, for the season.

Okay. So Eventually, I feel like people are going to look. When you, the seasons aren't always congruent. And just because people always say, oh, well, they'll be back. You know how much I fight against that.

Yep. But if you're like a coach early on, like Jim Harbaugh is in his third year now. And I think a lot of us thought, okay, it's going to take a few years for him to really mold what he wants this Chargers team to be. And you look at the last few years, and you're like, there's going to be some natural progression here. We're looking at the Packers as if Matt LaFleur is in year three, Jordan Love's in year three, there's natural progression.

But we're in year eight and we're in year four as a starter. Or five, four? Yeah. What I feel like, and I'm not saying anybody shouldn't feel this way. I'm telling you what I'm getting from Packer fans.

Is that they are looking at the Packers as we were nine and three until the injuries. Mm-hmm. We'll get these guys back another year of, another year of. We've got the receivers, you know, whatever, whatever. We've got a kicker, whatever.

Yeah. I feel like they are just blowing past. Mile marker 21 to 3. That we went to Chicago and were up at halftime by three scores and then lost that game. That did happen.

Without those guys, I feel like we're blowing past that. I also feel like There's there's These guys are what they are for the most part.

Now, I think Love's got a little more, but LaFleur's not going to do anything. I just, I don't have, there's no part of me. That is expecting the Packers. To make it to the Super Bowl. There's really no part of me that's expecting them to miss the playoffs.

Hmm. I just totally think. This is a rinse and repeat. We're going to be a seven seed. Or six, or we're going to open the playoffs on the road the first weekend, and we're going to lose.

And if we win. Great. We'll lose the next week. Yeah. But I just I don't I don't There's no excitement level for me.

That this year could be different. I just don't have that.

Now, obviously, if things happen along the way. You know, whatever, but I'm not. I'm probably more excited for the rest of the NFL than I am for Packer's singularity. I am two. For what it's worth.

More excited just for the totality of the NFL being backed than necessarily the new Packer season. Bart, is this then? Similar to your What, 2022, 2023 Milwaukee Bucks, early 1990s Nintendo video game? You just kind of want to get back to the point at which you left off. The Bucks regular season isn't going to be fun because you just kind of want to get back to the point of the season that matters.

No, it's worse. It's worse because, in that theory, I'm thinking: all right, once I get back to level eight. Yeah. Now I know how to beat this fucking game. Oh, okay.

I just had to get back there.

So I have to go through the motions to get back there. Right. This I would equate to Okay, I'm gonna dig deep, and I'm doing this for my brothers, if anybody. We played a game a lot on Sega called Zombies Ate My Neighbors. Oh, okay.

And on Zombies Ate My Neighbors. You would not finish that you would run out of lives. There were 10 people you had to save. Zombies ate them. As long, and then so next level, if they ate one, you can only save nine, and then six, you know, however, as long as you had one neighbor left, you could keep going.

But once you got to level 20, you could only pass the level if, at some other point in the game, you would get a skeleton key. Not a normal key, but a super secret skeleton key.

Now, sometimes in playing this game. There was no skeleton key provided to you.

Sometimes you would get to level 20. The game just did not get, we checked every trust me. We checked everywhere.

So we did it. And if we didn't get to a skeleton, we had to reset the game. Because we weren't getting the skeleton key on that roll of the dice.

So I feel like that. I feel like. I'm not. Doing this again, and the season starts in January. Eighth.

I'm doing this again to watch the season end on January 8th once again. Oh, there will be no skeleton key. Or you're not confident there will be a skeleton key in this go-round. And I'm not, I want to just, I'm not trying to be negative. I'm not trying to hold my feelings back.

I'm not trying to do any of that. I'm not trying to be a troll. In this Situation. Um But I just don't have any confidence. And again, I don't think they're gonna be worse.

I think they're going to be the exact same. And whatever Optimism I have from love is gonna be pulled back from LaFleur.

So, the only thing that's going to change my mind on this season. is if I see LaFleur coach better. But then I'm still going to need to see what he does in the playoffs, and I can't trust him for three playoff games back-to-back to win, much less four. I just, I'm sorry that it's this way for me. I just I can't I can't feel anything until the floor's gone.

Grant I want you to answer this. Before Bart answers it. Yes, Paul. The more likely thing to happen. three years from now.

Is that Bart was wrong about love being good, and Bart admitting that? or more likely that Bart was wrong about LeFleur because LeFleur was good. Three years from now, fast forward, which of those two things is more likely to happen? Bart E. Bloom's already good.

No, no, I'm talking like the ascension that you're talking, like a top two quarterback. Yeah, I'm a little extreme on that. Which is more likely to happen in three years, Grant? And then I want Bart to tell me what he thinks his own. Is the more likely to happen.

I think it's more likely that in three years we look around and say, well, love's good, but he might not be good enough. Or he's not that guy. I don't think we're ever going to say that he's. We're already doing that now. Because we're comparing him to 30 years.

Yeah, of course. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Other teams have joy if Jordan love Unchanged from who he is. Was on other teams.

I agree with that. Yep. Like if you so I think love is better than Caleb. I mean, they're at the very. Yeah, I mean, that's they're and I know our friend Andy Herman.

Gave Caleb the tiebreaker. Because Caleb can make some plays that he hasn't seen Jordan Love make yet.

Okay. And I do think Caleb has the ability. I mean, he made some plays last year. But was that skill? Was that luck?

Our friend Aaron Nagler gave the nod to Jordan Love because he plays the position more completely. Yes. It's also just such a tough comparison because they're so different. But if the Bears had Jordan Love. I agree.

Yep. Yep, I'm with you. I would take them to win the Super Bowl. You would take the Bears to win the Super Bowl if Jordan Love was the QB. Yes.

You don't think you'd find a way to. Who's always falling backwards? Oh, throw another. Those are the worst picks I've ever seen. Like, really?

You. It's not a j is not a criticism of you, but like Packers fans, we look at a rival and we you know I got to play it fast and loose with Chicago because I read these score message boards and they all want me, okay? 670 the s the snore Meanwhile, I am Shitting on Cubs fans. Incessantly. And I'm trying to come up with the dumbest bait possible.

And they're biting. Yesterday, I said PCA hitting a home run is selfish. He should have just got on base. That's pretty good though. Aaron's people are like, are you fucking serious?

No, um, right. I mean, come on, obviously. I don't, I don't know how I don't, I don't like it.

Sorry. You're good. Finish your thought. I was just going to say, I don't know how you'd react to Jordan Love if he was on the Bears, but if Jordan Love was on. Not the Packers, I think more people would think he's better or quite criticize him.

I have a hard time understanding how anyone could disagree with that. You know what I mean? Yeah. Bart, put a percent chance. On the possibility that in three years you're saying.

I was wrong. Matt LaFleur is. He's really good. He won us the Super Bowl. He made the right decisions.

I gotta eat my words on the floor. Pro probability percent chance that you're saying that in three years, Bart Winkler. Zero. Zero. Zero.

Matt LaFleur can't win a Super Bowl. This is the closest I felt to parade chairs. Which I'm bringing up again because Joe brought it up, bartender at Oak Barrel the other night when I had a fantasy draft there. I love the Oak Barrel. I was there with various people from the slab, which is coming to Shorewood, and somebody that they know is Mitch Thundernellis.

So I was talking with Mitch Thundernellis, and Mitch said, Joe, do you know Bart Winkler? And I was like, God damn it, Mitch. And then he's like, the guy's like, I actually do. I love the beret chair bit. Wow, nice.

And I'm like, that was. That was risky, Mitch. I didn't know there was thunder in the forecast in Milwaukee this last weekend. Did you sit upstairs? We did.

All right, that's all. Also, I said 0% because Matt LaFleur could win three Super Bowls in a row and Bart would just refuse to. He would find a way. You know what I mean? I couldn't.

If Matt LaFleur won a Super Bowl. I couldn't be like, well, that was selfish. PCA hit a home run. He should have had a single. Really?

I couldn't. I think you could find a way. I think you'd try. I would try. I will say I had a little bit of I'll be revealing.

I had a little bit of that. With Mike Bundholzer and the box. Right was so anti-bud that I was, that I enjoyed it less because I was like, fuck. Like this this Bud is shit. Like, he's not good at you have an illness, both of you.

Like, I will cheer for my take to be right. No, no, it wasn't about that. I would rather be. You go ahead. Winning in spite of a head coach.

Can happen. But then the head coach is like you had like I remember um At the time, I think it was the Woge pod. Where he had um I think he had butt on. or he was talking about it, but is it something the effect of where it's like Well, Coach Bud, we were wrong, and I was wrong. And you must be a really great coach.

And I was like, that does not equal that. The Bucks didn't I mean, n n whatever. That's my own My own problems with uh The boonholes are led bucks and winning in spite of him, question mark.

Okay, so there's a 0% chance that we think Bart will have that take. All right, interesting. No, I'm telling you there's a 0% chance. Because you're because there's a 0% chance that LaFleur will win a Super Bowl. Right, because you're saying if he does win a Super Bowl, you'll eat your words, but there's a 0% chance that will happen, and thus you won't have to eat your words.

Let's come up with something for me to do if he wins a Super Bowl. You want me to walk down 43 naked? No. No one wants that. How about an updated SI body issue cover?

Okay. And I'll show dick this time. It's a podcast. I guess you know, hold barred.

Well, you don't think on YouTube I can share that YouTube might have a problem with that. I don't have anywhere I can show dick. Yeah. I know I can't upstairs, that's for shocking sure. A bad day golfing is better than a good day at work, am I right?

Hey, can't live with him? Can't live without him. I feel like Rant went from fake. supportive laugh to like, okay, now you got me laugh. Did that happen in that 30 second span grant?

I think it did.

Okay, never mind. It was fake the whole time. Got it. Oh, come on, that's a good fake laugh. It was.

But I thought at one point it might have shifted. You really sold me on your acting ability. Oh, the Chicago thing I wanted to say is: I'm just tired of them pretending like everything's happening for the first time. Like PCA hit 40 home runs.

Okay, that's happened before. Oh, Caleb Williams is supporting Pete Kerr Armstrong. Yeah, I mean, that shit does happen when your teams are good. It's special. It doesn't happen anywhere else.

Where it's I love New York. Where else can you get a fucking sandwich? Like, it's that it's that meme, but it's, you know. And I try not to fight with them online. I got into it a little bit.

Because you're fighting the war forever. Why do any of us have to go to war on our keyboards when we have you? Like, you're just. I'm just trying to get my homepage impressions up because Twitter's changing their fucking payout philosophy. We're just trying to get you on the score.

Nah, it ain't happening. Post Ownership changes. Could you imagine? I just shit on council forever and then I'm like Guys, great news. I'm working in Chicago.

No, but honestly, that is, I just, I know what you're saying, but I still just think that that's not. A prerequisite. Like, there are plenty. There has to be plenty of Cubs fans who are like, I love me with Budenholder. I love the team, but fuck our coach, fuck our manager.

Like, there's. You don't need to be supportive of counsel to go work in Chicago. You can, I mean, how many years has Rami and many others done their Cubs, Bears? Chicago sports approach. And to that, I'll say, good on you, but I'm built different.

Well It would be an interesting take. Like, I could have, I'm sure, if I really put my mind to it. I could have gotten a radio job in a top 50 market. But I'm not talking about teams that aren't mine. But when you're talking about the bears, the bulls.

You have to care. No, you no, you don't. I mean, y I don't say you don't have to care. But if you're purposely, if you come, if you go then, you're like, I'm a Cubs fan and a Bears fan, now you're full of shit. But if you go there and you do like what Rami has done, which is like I'm a Chicago sports fan, and I'm in the Milwaukee market.

And here's my take on how that. Is Meaning, I love love. Rami. I love him. But Uh oh.

I don't know that I like that he's a Cubs fan and Bears fan on my airwaves. He knows it. It never it never felt Forced or like, and not forced when it's a random day and he's just walking in in full Cubs gear, like he's a Ryan Sandberg for Halloween, but it's a radio show so. It's inconsequential. Yeah, they don't live stream.

They're the one radio show in the world that doesn't have a Simulcast. Do you want to get into the reasons for that? Um I thought those reasons fucking. Keep going. I thought they would be free and clear of those reasons because the other half of the reason why is no longer part of the reason why, but maybe whatever.

Tim. Maybe they're getting around to it. I gotta go. But I don't I can't save this one until next week.

So I do want to ask it and then you can discuss it before you get into Badgers. My favorite thing about my favorite thing I did before every Packers offseason when I was a Packers beat reporter. Was I really enjoyed doing my Most important Packers list. I really enjoyed it. Each day I focused on the player.

I got to create the list. It was an enjoyable offseason experiment. And I did it leading into training camp. But you know more at the end of training camp than that you do now. I'm going to tell you my list.

And then I'm going to say mm-hmm or mm-hmm, and then you can put guys in. Honorable mention not making the list. Josh Jacobs. Not on the list, Jaden Reed and Matthew Golden. Not on the list.

Num number eight, number eight. Devontae Wyatt. Number seven, Jordan Morgan. Number six, Lucas Van Ness, particularly because of. They'll need to do something before Parsons comes back.

Five I'm going to put Xavier McKinney. Four, Christian Watson, the only wide receiver of the group to be in my top eight. Number three, Tucker Kraft. Two Micah Parsons and one Jordan Love. Wyatt Morgan.

Van Ness. McKinney. Watson. Craft. Parsons love.

Are the eight most important Packers? I can't answer. I can't evaluate the line. Or you know enough to say I talk about football. Like, if I talk, if you did it in baseball, I basically can't talk about the pitchers.

You know enough to know that Jordan Morgan is a former first-round pick who couldn't earnestly. I couldn't recognize Jordan Morgan out of a lineup of the offensive line. It doesn't matter. You still know enough to know that where they invested in him. Even wearing their numbers and possibly name plates.

Regardless. Why is that guy wearing Jordan Morgan's jersey? If Jordan Love is going to be as good as you say he's going to be. His left tackle needs to be really good. And the early returns on Morgan's a left tackle now.

I'm not sure. Yes. If you're kidding, isn't Sean Ryan the center now? Yes. What are they just gonna give everybody a fucking crack at this job over the last five years?

Yeah. Why? I I don't know how to do that. What happened to having real centers? I agree.

I agree. They're interior offensive linemen. Yeah. Why would you want to be a sinner? Because you get money.

Why would you want it? You know what I was thinking today? Do you have to go? I got to go.

So, process that list, Grant. I might need you more because he doesn't know who's on the offensive line or defensive line. I wrote it down. All right, talk to you guys. Bye-bye.

Goodbye, Paul. Thank you. I would never want to be a barber. I feel like that is just the most repetitive job. But there is.

I wouldn't want to touch people's hair. I don't like having my hair touched. I don't like going to the barber. I certainly wouldn't want to be one. I don't know how you wake up as a barber and show any satisfaction or joy to what you're about to do.

It's a people business. Yeah, but you know how some people say, I love my job and sales every day is different. I would say are days different as a barber. Oh, I'm cutting this kind of hair today. Oh, I'm this kind of thing within the context of the job every day, it's not like a salesperson one day goes to the moon and another day goes deep sea.

The difference is in the sales experience every day.

Well, I will tell you, that's why I do tip. Barbers the most. of everything I tip. Because I feel like their job is hard. Hmm.

Thank you. Great clips has gotten a little chesty. They charge like $22 for a haircut now. I don't like chain haircut places. I won't do it.

Um I'm not booking a haircut a month in advance.

So. I'll go to great, and it grows back in like two days. You find a local barber. My guy's name is Phil. Yeah, they're all down on the isthmus and it takes 40 minutes to get there and nobody's open before nine and no one's open after five.

So when the when the fuck? When do you want me to do that?

Well, Madison, yeah, Madison, these pairs fucking. What would you like today? Handlebar mustache, or would you like purple hair, sir? He needs another wide receiver higher on his list, by the way. Golden's got to be in the top eight.

If Golden's not good, I think they're porked. The isthmus, they don't, they probably we cut our hair without scissors. We believe in tranquility, and the hair will recede on its own if you feel the vibes, scissor-free cuts. It's fun being a It's fun being a lefty when Madison exists, because then you can just shit on them too. Um, I get my hair cut in Fitchburg, so I don't know.

I d I d I drive the corner beaches. Yes. West side. Um What did you think of Sunday night? Do you want to answer Paul's question?

You wrote it. My only response is: I just. Golden and Reed need to be higher, because if the like. If all of their wide receivers are healthy and play up to snuff, This will be a good offense. If one of them doesn't, I think they're close to porked.

Well, first of all, I don't like that he punted or kicked a field goal. On the side. I know he punted later, but. What I said on the show Sunday was: if you're a 27-point favorite, coaches a lot of times say, I don't look at that shit. Why?

That's research other people did on what your game's going to be like. And they're they're They're dealing with millions of dollars to try to get that line just right. And they determined that Notre Dame is going to win by 27. And they won by 28?

So if I'm 21, but yeah. What was the score? They did not cover. No, they won by 28. They won by 28, but the spread was 20 and a half.

Or 21. I thought that was 27. Unless it moved big time at the end, which it could have. It doesn't matter because you're pointing. Or whatever.

But they. To go for like those three points aren't gonna fucking matter. I don't know.

I just I feel like again What I feel the baseline Badger fan thinks after that game was Well We had a rough couple of years. Um They're feeling pretty good about themselves at camp. We at least had that first half where we were feeling good. And then it was kind of like what we expected in the second half. And I think the fact that it was like what we expected is bad.

I thought they were going to show us something. I thought they were going to. I don't know.

I just, it's the same shit it's been for the last five years. Like, Okay, you go down, you're playing your game, right?

Now you're down double digits.

Okay, now you're going to fucking turn the ball over three times because you can't play this way.

So I take no. And I'm not world's biggest, like, I can't break it down with the rest of you. when it comes to Badgers, but I just I don't I don't I At halftime of the game, they're like, oh, look at this. You see what I see? This could be an eight-win season.

Who cares? I don't know.

I just, I don't feel like this team's any better than they were a year ago. And I don't feel like the coaching staff's any better than a year ago.

So I don't I don't I don't I don't come out of this game with any sort of optimism. If anything, I feel worse. No, I I feel worse because I don't feel better. Yeah, exactly. I feel worse because I feel the exact same.

I think there's a world in which they lose by 28, and I feel okay. Um they lost by 28. And it looked really similar to the last couple of years. But the real problem for me is then I listened to. Fickle in his press conference and I heard all of the same things.

Like, he played his greatest hits album. And I'm like, oh.

So not only did you lose the same way you've been losing the last couple of years. But it's clear the coach still kinda has nothing. And it's saying all the same things like, oh.

So they might win. Look, if they win eight games, I think that would be a massive success. I think they'll be fighting for six or seven. Um They seem to have more talent. They do.

Like the quarterback's better. The wide receivers look really good. Cheeks is good. The linebackers are good. Like, you can see, even in a matchup that's lopsided against Notre Dame, I think the talent's better, but it's not nearly.

Better enough. To make up for the fact that I don't think their coach is any good. Like what does he do? He's not a scheme guy. He doesn't call plays on either side of the ball.

He clearly doesn't motivate because his team folds at the first. You know, a little bit of adversity. I don't think, like, strategy in and out of halftime. Like, he's not Mike Rabel or Belichick with the timeout usage and the special teams and the finding a lot.

So, what does he do? He just stands there and chooses gum. And then he says the same kind of three or four expressions after every game.

So, why is this year going to go any differently? And why is the program? They might win a couple more games this year because they spent more money and the schedule's easier. They were totally. The program's not in a better spot.

I was wrong. Who do they got? Is it Eastern what? There's an Illinois and a Michigan, and one is east and one is West. I'm not sure.

I'm not sure. But we don't play Western Michigan. I know that. No, not one of the good ones. No, no, no, no.

Um And it's not Illinois State because I think Illinois State actually might be okay. All right, Eastern Michigan's next week.

So we play Western Illinois. Uh sure. They have a foot what is I've never heard of Western Illinois. Where is it located? I'm part of eastern Illinois.

My keyboard's not working. Uh, it's in it's it's in Illinois. Wisconsin's a thirty six and a half point favorite. Oh, the leathernecks. Oh.

Macomb. Oh, the Ohio Valley, okay. Um What what what what what what is the next part of this you wish to discuss? 36 and a half points we're going to win by? No.

I'd be surprised. I'm looking like 24 to 10. Yeah, I would bet like thirty-five to thirteen or something like that. Thirty-five to three, maybe, because the badges I think the badgers' defense is pretty good. Um There's a difference, Bart.

I was talking about this with a friend last night. There's a difference between a blowout and an ass kicking. I think every ass kicking is a blowout, but not every blowout is an ass kicking. The Badgers in some of these non-conference games have blown opponents out. But not You know, but they haven't kicked their ass.

type of thing. And they've been c they've been close in a lot of these non-conference games. Like Was it last year or the year before? It would have been two years ago, I think. They were close with South Dakota and Western Michigan.

Like, they needed a special teams bounce or like a little thing to go their way.

So, I know every Wisconsin fan is just assuming: well, you know, you get two blowout wins. These these opponents are lesser. They they've played harder non-conference games. But it's not like they've just dogwalked every lesser program that they've played in non-conference the last couple of seasons. Don't you think Illinois is like the weirdest state we have?

Yeah, yes. Because I'm looking at where Western Illinois University is. There's like nothing for hours. Correct. And then even every time you drive through Illinois.

There's nothing.

Well, that's why I don't But then there's Chicago. But that's even my problem with Chicago. If I want to get out of the city for a weekend, where am I going? I might as well be on the moon. There's nothing in every direction unless you want to go north, but like Okay, so it's, you know.

Pleasant Prairie and Kenosha, which are, it's just such a, it's such a not where I grew up, and it's very, I might as well be on the moon. I mean, I love Chicago. Don't get me wrong. It's fine. No, I love it.

I do. It's a great town. I just I just Illinois is so fucking stupid to me. Yes. Were you rooting for Michigan to lose?

Of course, yeah. I do a weird thing. I usually root for, like, Rutgers, I was rooting for, they lost. I usually root for the Big Ten in these non-conference games. Because then if we play them, I want them to have a better record.

Mm. But I do root against him if I find it funny.

So I wanted what I wanted Michigan to lose because I would find it funny. I wanted Nebraska to lose because I would have, and Iowa. I wanted them all to lose because I would have found it funny. And then I also like, like if Western Michigan would have won. And Boise State played Oregon.

I was rooting for Boise State. Yeah. But Boise State and Western Michigan play in like a month. And all of a sudden this game no one cares about becomes one of the kind of games of the week. And that's the kind of shit I like in college football.

I root for teams to stay undefeated.

Now that every team that won, I'm rooting for that team to win as much as they can. 'Cause I want matchups to matter. But Western Michigan.

Now, the thing I did say also is. They did get a bonus second. That's fucked up. But they still had to make the play. Which they did.

They did complete a Hail Mary, which is, you're right, like kind of forgotten or lost in all of it. Like, maybe they shouldn't have had the time, but. Like, I've I've never heard about a completed Hail Mary. Like, we've never had a completed Hail Mary that's been talked about less. Aaron Rodgers completed some in games that they didn't win and were talking about it like, oh, greatest Hail Mary thrower ever.

And part of that is warranted because they Robson plays, but Michigan completed one. And you wouldn't even know it. You wouldn't you wouldn't even know it based on how people are talking about the game. It is interesting. With good reason, of course, 'cause people are mad about the call, but.

Still a hit mary. I would like to posit that I think Oregon. They are the Packers of college football and of the Big Ten. They're always going to be taken seriously because of the brand, and they're always going to have good players. If if you're like Oregon's going to win the title this year.

I think you're just kind of a sucker. And I think you're a sucker if you're still like Pete Prisco's on like year 25 straight of saying picking the Packers to win the Super Bowl. I just I can't take Oregon seriously. They've been hammered by the Ohio states of the world in meaningful playoff games too many times. Out.

So it's not surprising me that Boise State was Wisconsin played him close last year. Whatever. I'll leave with your Super Bowl pick. What are you saying on the air? You know what's funny?

I made this pick with like four seconds of thought on a rock morning show this morning. And I actually I don't know who I'm picking to win. Can I just give you who I think will be in the Super Bowl? I think it's Eagles Broncos. I think that's my Super Bowl.

God, that'd be such a hate watch. I did it so flippantly, but the more I sit with it, the more I kind of like it.

Well, mine's not even close to happening, but I am going with Bills over Cowboys. But R right. Like, that's never happened. Neither one of those teams are making it. But there's no good reason on planet Earth that that couldn't happen.

You know what I mean? There's no good reason why it couldn't happen. It's just not gonna I I also think the Niners have a pretty good shot. Hey, okay, one more thing. Please, I'm not in a rush.

What should I do with this? Yeah. It's really tough for me to tell what that is. Looks part of the Bradley Center floor. Oh.

Then Yannis took to his house. And then I knew the guys that were working on it and they gave it to me. Could you make a headboard out of it for your son?

Now A lot of people say, are you sure it's not just a piece of green wood? And it does not say on here anywhere, Bradley Center. Affairs. But Is that how the the bottom of an NBA floor looks?

Sorry, baby. Looks like that. I don't know, but I think I've been told it does. Looks like you could get that at Home Depot. It's just wood.

All right. Well, the bottoms would. What do you think they played on?

Well, I don't know. I just be like more scientific on the under with measurements or something. No, it's just a. What am I supposed to do with my ring light so I don't see a reflection? I don't know, I don't own a ring light.

Matt bought this for me, Matt in the Falls. I remember it was a live unboxing. I know. That was a long time ago. This is a seminal moment in the Winklerverse.

We've been doing the Winkler verse a long time. Thank you for all of your work. All right. Great. I appreciate your time.

No. Where can people find you? If they Uh Listen to the radio show. It gets posted in podcast form. I did an interview with someone, and they're like.

He's like, I got to ask you all these things. I go, whatever, I'll have whatever you ask me, I'll be fine. And then he's like, What do you think about this controversy between Good Good and Calloway? Oh, the gulp. Yeah.

And I'm like. All right, I know about it, but I have to tell you, there are certain things that. I don't care about, so I I don't I'll answer your question, but remember, I don't care about anything I'm saying. Yeah. He's like, I'm sorry.

I'm like, don't be. I shouldn't have said that. I should just answer that question. I've I've found there is a big Venn diagram. I say this lovingly because I love the person I'm about to reference.

There's a big Venn diagram, there's a Venn diagram, or there's something, topics that. people are talking about. And the circle of care for me and Steve Zabin seemed to be opposite. Like, I've found that if there is a topic that's very popular that I'm like, I don't know what I'd say about that, I've found in the past that I turn on Zabe's show and he's hammering it. Like, there's no topical overlap between the two of us.

But he's like, I bet he did an hour one day on that controversy, and I bet it was really good. Yeah. There's just I can't there's some so I'm with you. I don't care about college coaches switching basketball programs. I don't care about any.

college football or and any like recruiting violation or recruits in general. Mhm. I don't give a shit about any of that. Um I don't care about any suspensions. I don't care.

I don't want to talk about it. I don't care what's the suspension. I don't care. I know as little as possible about this Josh Jacobs case. Yeah.

I don't care. Even that thing, um With Nathan Fielder and Elizabeth Holmes. I don't know anything about her. I read her entire Wikipedia today. Yeah, I'm going to have to now because I...

Don't care about that case. I don't know.

Clancy. I didn't know what that was. I kept seeing her name. I had no idea. And then the day that they did a mistrial or whatever, I looked it up and I was like, Oh my fucking Lord.

Um Didn't it? Didn't she allegedly kill her kids in like 2023? Hasn't it been like three years? Our justice system is kind of it's kind of crazy.

Well, would you rather things take time or things go too quick, Grant? Would you rather be. proven would you rather also can i also say something Please. There should be certain times when Like, I believe in innocent until proven guilty. But don't make me say allegedly if it's fucking obvious what you did.

Well, that's fair. Allegedly. Pat McAvey found that the hard way with Favre. Yeah. Well, he also lied about that other chick in college that had sex with the dude's dad, even though she didn't.

Yeah, see, that's again with the Zabin thing. That's another one of those stories that was huge. Huge. I don't know anything about it. I didn't either.

I saw the memes. I'm fluent in meme. You know what I mean? Like with languages, they say I can understand, but I can't speak it. It's the same with me on the internet.

Like, if there's a trend or something going on, I'm aware. I might not understand the full thing, but I can get the references and stuff. You know what meme I finally had to look up what it was? I understood why people were using it. But I never knew what he meant by the three-finger thing.

Oh, yeah. I had to look that up once upon a time, too. Yeah. Because. Don't Germans go like this?

I don't. It's a Germ yeah, it's a German thing. Oh, and one other thing I looked up, speaking of Germany. And then I'll leave.

So somebody Facebooked me. with the last name Winkler. And they said, it's nice to meet another Winkler. And I said, You know, I feel like I've met a lot of Winklers. But none of us are related.

How can that be? I worked with a Winkler who grew up near me. Mm-hmm. So I looked it up. I never looked it up before.

I looked it up. Here's where the name Winkler comes from. I bet it was changed when you came over. Yeah. I'm more of like a Smith or like a Like a baker.

Sort of thing. It's based on the job.

Okay. The name comes from the German word winkle. Which means corner, angle, nook, or small enclosed piece of land.

So basically If your last name is a Winkler. You're someone who lived on a corner or worked on a corner piece of land, or you were a shopkeeper and they called you a winkler because you did the corner shop. Or if you had like a small store you were a You were a winkler because you worked at a winkle, so you were a winkler. Interesting. Took off.

Even though it doesn't seem that common, but I'm not related to any fucking Winkler. That you know. Lot of streets on this planet, a lot of corners. Not exactly the most narrow description of something, you know what I mean? Like, there's a Winkler that works for Golden State.

I don't know who the fuck that guy is. By the way, speaking of corner stores, I saw a hardware hank this weekend for the first time in forever. I thought they used to be everywhere. I'm his true value. You ever see true value?

I do. I feel like Ace has become.

Well, Ace is the place. Yeah. True value. You've got a lot more going. We did away with a lot of local jingles on local radio.

We've lost a lot of them. Remember growing up listening to high school football, and every other commercial had. It's a pretty well done jingle. I did a spot that, like. was just like a Sponsor only of high school football.

Mm-hmm. And they don't some of these guys only sponsor high school football. And they're always like, the ad's fine. Same messages.

So then like eight years after I left Fond du Lax, I was like, I just heard you promote. Badger water or something. I don't remember. And they're like, do you still get paid for that? And I'm like, okay, I didn't get paid for that to begin with, eh?

Yeah. But B I would pay now to record a spot for that. Yeah. If my voice is still floating out there somewhere. That's an honor.

It's a fucking honor, man. Is this good? Are we good as a duo, or are we like too deep? We've known each other too long and have too many that Shared experience. Is this of interest to anyone?

Like if the two of us were ever going to do a show together, I can't. I can't decide if it would be really good or if it just wouldn't work. I think we'd be disappointed. I think, yeah. I think I'd enjoy it.

But I don't think the product would be very good.

Well, we have a paw when we have a paw. That's true. We need a Paul. That's we don't need a Paul. We're better served by a Paul.

Is that why you created Todd? No, Todd was to get Horvot out of trouble. For sure. That is getting a lot of trouble.

Well, I enjoyed it, and that's all that matters to me. I found that when I am enjoying the show, that must mean the listener is enjoying the show. Is this good? Could you just wait until I'm off the air and say, is this good? This is good.

Is anyone finding this interesting? This is a waste of your time. Thank you for stopping into the Winklerverse. I'm like blushing now. Yeah, thanks.
