Good evening, everybody. Welcome to the Winkler Verse. I'm Bart Winkler. It is Sunday, September 6th, upon the recording of this broadcast, and the Wisconsin Badgers have just lost. To the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 41 to 13.

Covering the 27-point spread and winning by 28. I am doing a Badger post game here tonight on the Sunday night. This is my Labor Day weekend show. There will be no show with Carlos on Monday, and we'll get back into this week, picks with Horbot. A lot of good stuff coming up on the horizon.

But I did give Carlos Ortiz the day off. I told him he could break down Notre Dame and Wisconsin with me. And if he wanted to tonight, he said absolutely not. Duolipa is here. Thank you.

I've seen you comment before he is now, or she, or they, I don't know. It Dua Lipa a member. To the Winklerverse here, the donation club, which is just $3.99. It helps out the channel. It's very nice.

I would like to do more TBD again. I do a lot of things TBD, but they all end up happening eventually.

So that's another TBD. We are in the month of September again, reminding people about the good mission of the friends at the Wisconsin Bike Fed. It is that time of the year where crashes. Involving people driving and vulnerable users of the road, they are the highest. Right in these fall months, they are the highest, especially in the early evening hours.

The Wisconsin Bike Fed and I reminding people driving and people biking We're all in this together. Use your lights as daylight hours wane. If you're operating near other users, do be aware, slow down, and look around. We can all do our part to reduce low light crashes, be visible and predictable on the road, and help everyone get to where they're going safely.

So, again, just a good reminder from. the Wisconsin Bike Fed. There's some things we need to address about this Badgers game. And again, I'm not doing Badgers post games all the time. Um I'll make a commitment that as long as they're undefeated, I'll do them.

And that excuses me from this year. The Badgers the last 10 years, 15 years. I've gotten into the college football playoff dream. And then there's always a loss in there, and it derails my attention span for the whole season until they play Minnesota and I get up for that game. But they lost to Illinois that one year, they lost to BYU that one year.

We don't have to worry. I mean, they could still. The season's not over. But again, what was the season going to be? I think what people wanted tonight.

was There's an assumption that Notre Dame's going to win. There's an assumption that Notre Dame could probably cover the 27 points. There was hope. That we could make it more of a competitive game and keep it closer. And that did come to fruition at least.

for the first half. Uh, first half, Badgers punted, Notre Dame punted, Badgers kicked the field goal. I'll complain about that, but they went into the locker room. 13 to 10. And I think the sentiment from a lot of people was: well, it could be a lot worse than this.

But it also could have been a lot better. And I am going to take the approach. Yeah. I am not here. to say And Derek says, we did look better.

We did look better.

So the Badgers The Badgers look better. Then You wanted them to look, or then they have looked like they look. There's a lot of talk out of Badger Camp that this is going to be different, we're improved. People just need to see and they'll believe. And I think for a good chunk of this game, you started to feel that.

13 to 10 at halftime is a win. Oh, that's from NDK.

So there's a lot of, there's a lot of good like. You can leave this game. I'm leaving this game. I don't leave this game with a good feeling. I don't leave this game with a good feeling because there's things that happen in this game.

That I do not like. And I hope that they can be. Corrected. Ryan says Wisconsin's now 4-14 in their last 18 games. Going back to the 2024 Season.

Fickle needs eight wins, or he is gone. I I'm not, I'm not, they were talking about this at halftime. They're like, oh, this looks like a team that could get eight wins. Eight wins? Like if we're not If we're not going to make the college football playoff a bull game and beating Minnesota is enough for me.

Eight wins, nine. I don't care. I don't care. I mean, I'd like us to get back to where. You know what we felt today?

Even against LSU. or Ohio State sometimes. Alabama, it felt like, okay, we're going to lose. But there's not who would I rather have back? LaFleur or Fickle?

Fickle. I'd rather have fickle coach the Packers. I I I d Yeah, I mean, it's a good question, but that is the answer. From Stalus Tom.

So here are the things that I don't like, okay? Here are the things I don't like. One. I haven't said it yet.

Okay, let me tell you this also. I'm a b I'm a positive guy. You may not think so. If you look at Twitter or whatever, or hear me on this. I'm a positive guy.

But I'm going to talk about the things that I didn't like. Because you can get more out of that. And the positives What kind of show is this going to be? I'm working for myself. It's Sunday night.

Labor Day weekend. I'm going to do the podcast. I'm not doing this. To talk about all the things I liked.

So if there's some badger. content you can get. That talks about The m the uh The m I w I want to call them morality wins. What the hell am I trying to think of? Like a moral victory.

Morality wins. I'm not talking about the morality wins. I'm not into morality wins or moral victories. There's a bunch of things that I didn't like in this game. First of all, I didn't say this.

Thank you, Thunder. Thunder. I'm texting you. There's a bunch of things that I didn't like in this game. The first one being that it was at Lambo.

I'll just text the link, say if you're frisky. I never liked that this game was at Lambeau. I never liked that this game was at Lambeau. I thought it was an opportunity. It was an opportunity for Notre Dame to get a win.

At Lambeau Field, and they always say that they did that. I never liked this game being at Lambo. Ever. And now they can say that. You know, if you're going to do a game at Lambo, maybe.

Make it, I don't know. I mean, it's got to be the Badgers. You can't have Iowa and Michigan State play at Lambo. But I don't like when other teams do well in our places. That like they're not.

customarily supposed to do well there. Like, if somebody comes and beats the Bucs at Pfizer Forum, okay. If someone comes and beats the Brewers at Miller Park, okay. If Notre Dame beats the Badgers at Camp Randall, okay. But they beat him at Lambeau.

It's like when. Carlos Zimbrano threw a no-hitter at Miller Park. That sucks that that happened. And that was the Cubs' home game. I'm just texting Mitch Thunder Nellis.

I was in a draft with him tonight with our friends at the slab i took CD Lamb. And George Pickens. That's who I was there when I was up on the clock. Then I wanted to take Dak, but I panicked and took Drake May, who I don't. No, if that's going to be that great.

Um Brandon says the UW LSU game 10 years ago was lit, though. It was. It was. I think the b at least. At least When you get to the point where you know you're going to lose, cancel this fucking game.

This is the thing with scheduling 10 years in advance. What kind of program did you think Wisconsin was going to be when this series was first scheduled? And then there was COVID stuff and, you know, whatever. But, like this LSU Clemson game last night, Clemson, they scheduled that game nine years in advance. They're thinking that.

They're going to be somebody. And then NIL happens and LSU's, or Ole Miss, it is. No, LSU, yeah. And then Ole Miss playing the night. And then LSU's bringing NFL kids back.

All that kind of stuff.

So, point number one, I don't like that this game was at Lambo. Notre Dame's like an old school kind of like Notre Dame, Green Bay Packers. It's that like tradition. There's still tradition there. Notre Dame not in their conference, Lambo with the bleachers and being in the middle of nowhere.

So I feel like they're. Like Sort of spiritually connected in a way. Notre Dame coaches that have been here. I like that we scheduled good non-conference games too. I'd rather play Notre Dame than watch them play Eastern Illinois on FS1.

I'd rather be on A pretty much a standalone game. On a Sunday night of Labor Day weekend. I mean, we haven't really done that ever, I don't think. But I just didn't like that this game was here. And I also didn't understand the narrative: like, this is going to be a Notre Dame crowd.

How the fuck do you think that was going to be the case? A lot of Irish fans came.

Someone tweeted yesterday, like, oh, it's 10 of the morning on a Saturday. The game's tomorrow night. There's no Badger fans here. Yeah, because they're at fucking home. Cause they're at fucking home.

Charles says, the biggest thing for me was not that they lost, but they had a pick six and a muff kickoff by their end zone. Can't even prevent dumb mistakes to give yourself a better chance. The best time to recommit to your gut health goals? Right now. Take charge of your gut with NatureMade.

So, there were dumb mistakes. That kickoff was horrendous. The Notre Dame player did not have possession of the ball when his foot first touched out of bounds.

Now, luckily for Notre Dame, they didn't have the right camera. To pinpoint the foot, like you couldn't kind of see the ball.

So you had to uphold it and you couldn't overturn it. Like some people are like, oh, well, it was up, it was upheld and not, it was upheld and not like. Uh confirmed, which means like it could that doesn't matter. It didn't change. If the call doesn't change.

I'm not happy about it.

Well, at least it was upheld. I don't give a fucking shit. It was upheld. It was upheld. That's for them to cover their own ass.

Brandon says the Curly Lambo ND connection makes this one more a home game for Bucky. It becomes much more like a neutral site. It was a neutral site. Badgers had a great crowd, and then, of course, NBC that has Big Ten coverage is. pumping this as a home game with Timu Jim Nance on the call.

Which is uh Dan Hicks. He sounds like Jim Nance, but different. Through a filter. You know, like when people are like, I start my impression here and then I come down to here. You start with a Jim Nance, and then you bring it down to a Dan Hicks.

I was actually listening to some of the Notre Dame radio network. Yeah, that's right. I was driving home at halftime. And I was listening to the game in Milwaukee, Terrestrial. on the Notre Dame Radio Network.

At 105.7 on the dial, it was. I didn't know. I didn't know that. I didn't know that an Indiana team had a home market. 55 miles down the road.

From camp Randall, I didn't know that until, but thankfully they do because then. I heard uh the game. That was good. The kick return I mean it went boink boink. Write off the numbers.

You got to catch that football.

So there were some players and some plays that were not going to love. Not great.

Okay. I'm more upset. about the coach. About Luke Fickle. I'm upset about the second drive.

I'm upset about the second drive. The second drive of this game for the Badgers, again, punt, punt. And then the Badgers get the ball back. They block the punt.

So they start with the ball. At the Irish thirty-seven.

So I think Here's the thinking that coaches think.

Okay. We started the ball. At the Irish thirty-seven.

We have to come away with points on this drive. We started here. We basically have a field goal to start.

So we have to give them away with points on this drive.

Okay. If you start at your own 37 and then you get into field goal range. Maybe you're like. Gonna take more of a risk. But you could also think, well, it took us a lot of work to get here.

I don't like that they kicked a field goal.

Now it was fourth and six.

So Okay. Six is not guaranteed to get. It wasn't like it was fourth and one. This isn't McCarthy in Seattle in 2014. But you're unranked.

You're playing the number four team in the country on a neutral site, if we're going to call it that. And you're 27-point underdogs.

So, if you're 27-point underdogs, you're not 27-point underdogs on a whim. You're 27-point underdogs because the people that have Put the time and effort into figuring out what the exact number should be to get people to try to bet evenly on both sides of that number. Think that this is going to be about a 27-point game. It was a twenty-eight-point game.

So If I'm luke fickle, and they can say we don't pay attention to that, but you need to. because that's research you're not taking advantage of. Let me tell you about something that happened. And I've referenced this many times.

So I Apologize if you've heard it before, but it was something that I saw and it chat my ass. And I think about it all the time when this happens. And the stakes were far, far lower. But I just do not understand. Like even Okay.

I'll tell you the story first. I'm just noticing, like, it's getting hot in my basement. Did we turn the fucking air off in this house? 'Cause when we turn the air off, the basement gets hot. quicker.

I bet you with it being a nicer day, we turn the air off, but the minute we turn the air off. Um then it gets Okay, I just turned it back on from my phone. Like a fucking loser. But yeah, it's a very good idea. I think the vent's open.

All right. But I am glistening. I'm glowing. Perhaps I'm pregnant. I'm going to spread my legs and a box of spicy nacho cheese Doritos is going to come out.

Of me. Yeah, I can't open these basement windows, and it gets, you know, it's a Midwestern basement. It's going to get a little sticky. North Fond du Lac was playing Saint Mary Springs.

Okay. North Fond du Lac was playing St. Mary Springs. Um 2012, 2011.

Sometime that I would have been there, I broadcasted the game. I did play-by-play. And I believe I did the color also. I think I was one man banding it. But North Fond du Lac.

And they don't have spreads in high school football, but St. Mary Springs is beating teams at this point. 50 to nothing. D6 champs year in, year out. North Fond du Lac barely fledging a program.

And they're losing by 40, 50 points.

So you don't need an odds maker to tell you they're a 50-point dog in this game. It's the first drive of the game. North Fond du Lyke gets a first down. I think they got a second first down. They had some momentum.

They're up to about the 40-yard line. Plus territory, springs territory. It's fourth and one. They punt the football. Fourth and one plus territory.

They punt the football. Now, I know, like, these are all kids, whatever, but these are adults making these decisions. And I'm telling you. If they're trying to protect their kids, there's no difference from losing by 50 points to losing by 48 points. or 44 points or whatever.

You got your ass kicked.

So North Fond du Lac punted. And I was on the broadcast and I was so pissed. I was so pissed. I said, you know you're going to lose. Just try to Try to not lose for as long as possible.

Just try to not lose. And the first play that San Mary Springs had on offense, they had like an 80-yard. Pitch and catch. And they lost 40 something to nothing. Why if you're in that position?

Do not go for it. This is like the kind of philosophy where when you're playing Madden. You're like, oh, well, I better punt here. I don't want to lose this game. First of all, it doesn't matter.

It's not real. It's a game you're playing. It doesn't.

Sometimes I'll think about that. Like, I'll be conservative when I'm playing lawn darts. Or any other thing like that. We have a tendency to think conservative. Just take the risk.

If the reward is you win this game. And it doesn't really matter. And the risk is you lose this game, and it doesn't really matter. Then try to win. I just just try to win.

Um I just I just I don't understand that and and There's a lot of people I think that are feeling good. Maybe that's. A little nitpicky, but that's the kind of shit and and North Fonda like scarred me with that. That's kind of shit that always. Freaked me out.

Later in the game, They had a fourth and ten at Notre Dame's 36. They punted. Plus territory. That was. 13 to 10.

Uh they punted later. At the fifty Fourth and seven, you're down thirty-four to thirteen. Like there's no There's no reason. If you're already losing bad, it doesn't hurt to lose more bad. You're losing.

Point differential is not going to do jack shit for the Badgers. Is Luke Fickle thinking, well, if we keep him within 20 points, we'll have good momentum in the next week. But if we If it's like 30 points, then we're gonna just the season's over. I don't understand it. I don't need coaches to be reckless.

with their fourth down conversions. But I also don't need coaches to be.

So play it safe. And that's what Luke Fickle seems to be, and that's what he was tonight. When you're down 20 points and you're punting at the 50, that's dumb. I don't care if it's fourth and 35. Chuck one up.

I just I don't It just bothers me. It just bothers me. It bothers. You're basically signaling to Notre Dame. In the first possession, Like you thought those three points were gonna fucking matter?

I don't understand it. Really grinds my gears. Into the Winklerverse brought to you by Happy Place Hem. Promo code is BART. 25% off each and every order.

Promo code is BART. At happyplacehemp.com. The Seltzers have been doing wonders for me. They are helping me sleep. I will say, I am sleeping maybe a little too long on the weekends.

But if if everyone's okay with that in this house. that i'm gonna i'm gonna ride my 930 sleep uh wake-up time tomorrow And feel good about it. But I'm gonna be up late tonight. We're recording this. I got to finish tonight's episode of Big Brother.

I gotta watch Lanterns. I started watching that show. I know DC's all over the place, but. I'm a big Kyle Chandler guy all the way back to early edition. And It's a good show.

I'm digging the show. I'm digging the show. Um A lot of like Semi-attractive middle-aged ladies in the show, which is my thing, I think, these days. I don't know. I don't know.

Anyway. Luke Fickle. I didn't like what you did there, Mr. Luke. If you're watching on the Dan Shaney YouTube stream, I throw the link in the comments.

You can always join. Complicated fella says, It's simple, Bart. The reason the Badgers keep losing and playing like they do is because they're just not good and have not been for a long, long time. And that's the other thing. I just, we got to a point.

Where? It's my bag. We got to a point where We Never thought the Badgers would be like this again. And then they had two years of it with Gary Anderson, and the panic button got sounded. And then as soon as that was done.

They went. And now they're back to this. Which is, it's just, it sucks. This just sucks. I don't like it.

But that's what it is. I don't like that the game was at Lambo. I don't like that they kicked a field goal early. And then we can complain about the other stuff that was not. That was not a fumble.

Notre Dame never had possession. They shouldn't have had the ball. Also, there was a targeting later in the game that wasn't called, should have been called. It wouldn't have made a difference. But you know early that kick return could have But you came in 1310.

This is the thing I was bitching about with LaFleur. What do you do at halftime? It's 21-3. What did you do at halftime against the Bears that you lost? It's 1310.

The crowd's feeling good. Everybody at Lambo is saying, like, hey, if we can, you know, if we can get a stop or if we can score, like, you've got the crowd believing instantly, the second half happens and you fart all over yourself. Terrible. Ben's in the dark. Are you up north?

No, I'm in my garage. Did you just go overseas? I was overseas, yes. Thank you for acknowledging. Where'd you go?

Portugal? Poland. Oh, Poland, how is that and why? Work-related. It was.

I have only been to Europe once before, really, a different country.

So it was very interesting how different the. the countries are actually. in Europe. They don't all get along. Definitely, definitely not.

The same as Uh the other country I went to. Are you not saying that for some reason?

Well, I went to Germany and I went to Poland and. you know, things things aren't exactly pleasant between them. There's some differences of opinion sometimes. Yeah. Well, congratulations on your trip.

Thank you. It was a lot. You know, traveling is exhausting, but. It was a great experience and I'm appreciative of it all.

So thanks for acknowledging again. Thoughts on the game, Ben? I In the first half, I was really impressed. And I was Delightfully impressed. I thought that.

I was kind of like, I'm totally out on fickle. I've been real vocal about it. Fickle doesn't seem to be in on himself, dude. The guy just. I mean, I eat shit on LaFleur, but Fickle just.

He doesn't even have fake confidence like LaFleur has. Yeah, it's bad. But in the first half, I thought they played really well, even through the mistakes they made. And then everything just, the wheels came off in the second half. Unfortunately, it is what we kind of thought it was going to be.

And I was just hopeful it wouldn't be. The fumble on the kicker kick return was a huge. It wasn't a fumble, though. I would argue that that was somewhat. rigged that they kept at a fumble.

Well, there's a lot of rig talk in college football right now. Yeah. Which I do want to get to. Uh later. But I it just they didn't I think I think this is the problem.

They knew it was not. I don't even want to say it was a fumble because he never had the ball. Because it did take a long time. But they never the ball you're right never the ball didn't have the shot Where you could see his foot on the white. And where the ball was or was not.

They could piece it together. But they didn't have The Convincing and overwhelming. I hate when these replay people are when the announcers are like, remember, we need overwhelming evidence. No, you don't. You just need to see that the thing that didn't happen.

Happened or that happened, didn't happen. You don't need, you don't need to like approve this in a court of law. You don't use Is it out of bounds? Like that one. And here's the other thing also.

In some games, maybe that is overturned. And in some games, that would have been a targeting later on. But in this one, it wasn't. And you just, what do you can think it's rigged, you cannot. It's a big game.

I thought tonight was a big game. I do think favoritism is at play. I don't. I don't know that it's on purpose, Ben, but I do think like. I do think like, you know.

If Wisconsin was the tie goes to the runner, the tie goes to the better team. Yep, yeah. And that's unfortunate because. I thought that Wisconsin was the better team for the beginning part of that game and could have kept the momentum rolling with the crowd and the atmosphere, but. The The problem was Right before the half.

What they got the ball. And It was just kind of like stagnant before halftime. And then they came out in the second half and they scored right away. And that was just like. The last thing we needed.

It was not uh ideal. No. Mm-hmm. In any way. I how many games do you I'm hoping that Fickle gets fired in season.

Um Yeah, everyone, so I don't care. I don't care how many games you think they're going to win. I was at under four for the season.

Well, they got it was 13-10 again at halftime and All these people on TV are talking about how eight wins. Like, do you? They're like, do you see what I see? It could be eight wins there. It could be, I don't, again, that doesn't matter to me.

So If we're not good. I just don't want to be shitty. But it looks like we're shitty. And I think there were enough minor moments where some people are gonna be like, let's see how we do against Western Illinois and Eastern Michigan. And that's fine.

I, but this isn't about Western Illinois and Eastern Michigan, it's about at Penn State. It's about Michigan State at home. It's about UCLA. It's about at USC. It's about at Iowa.

I don't care, honestly, I don't care if the Badgers. Win five games this season. If the games are competitive and we're into it.

Okay. I don't want to watch this every week. I don't want to watch 4113. Yeah, I don't want to watch the Badgers Have a little bit of a Shot and then the other team Now it's a Now it's a double-digit lead, which means, okay, the Badgers have to Get out of their system now and That's going to lead to a pick six, or hey, you know, this Joseph guy might be a good runner, and then he doesn't. You know, get a lot of opportunities to do that.

He was 12 for three. I think it's a mentality, too. Like, if you have a rushing quarterback, you can't average. Minus, minus a quarter of a yard of carry. And I think that this has happened through the whole fickle regime, or the whole time he's been at Madison, is that.

He can't stick with an identity and he can't. Have the confidence. to think he's has the better team. Right.

So, like, we are always playing, like, oh, maybe we're as good as this team. And then they get ahead of us and we're scrambling. We're trying to play catch up. We're changing what our, like, what you said, like, what our, um, Identity. Identity is.

We're changing our identity every single game based on the flow of the game instead of just trying to smack them in the mouth. And that's the identity. I would just say that The experience, and I didn't go to the school. The Badgers certainly aren't above the Packers for me. You know, they're not above the brewers or bucks for me.

They're not like You know, I don't live and die with every play. I will go outside and take out the trash or if I have to poop in the fourth quarter I'll just take a shit without my phone. Like, yeah. I mean, I watched the game. I was, you know, we had a fire outside of the poop example, but.

Yeah, we had a fire outside, and I was watching the game on my phone, and also just hanging out at the fire.

So I wasn't like. glued to the T V, but Um I love the Badgers. I went to the school and I will ask school pride. And It's been a tough ride here. For a while.

Well, it just seems like they're playing with no. confidence or not even that they're playing with no like Words on the tip of my tongue. They're playing with no agenda. Don't swagger. Don't swagger.

Agenda. Like they're playing with no age. Oh, no agenda?

Okay. Like they're playing with no, like, what is the goal that you want? What do you want eight games? Do you want a ball game? Do you want to beat Notre Dame?

They right now just seem to be like the other team in the movie of the team that wins. Yes. They're just the nondiscrete, they're the dragons. They're the sharks. You know, they're the fucking water buffaloes, whatever.

They're not, they're not the, they are. The side character in someone else's play, and that's what they were tonight. against Notre Dame, who got their win. in the Shamrock series at Lambeau Field. Yeah.

So, yeah, I don't know, Ben. It's good luck. Yeah. Yeah. The Big Ten's a brutal conference in every home game.

Counts.

So that's not like. Like this was technically kind of a home game, would you agree? Yeah, you're in the state of Wisconsin. It's a home game. Yeah.

And You got shellact.

So Well, you only have to wait six days for the next matchup. Western Illinois comes to Camp Randall, 6:15 start time on the Big Ten network. After that, will be a 11:30 tip-off. That will be the 19th against Eastern Michigan. Uh exclusively.

On Peacock. That's good, I like games on Peacock.

So Good. I don't even know how they got that contract. I mean, good for them, but we're not going to have it in another year or two. No. No, the badges are you're right.

They're The other team in the movie right now.

Well, have a good night, Ben. Get back to that fire if it's still going. No, we're calling it a night. Thanks for hopping on. Always good to be.

present. Yeah, thank you for being here. No pride, Buckshot. Bobby says, No pride, no plan. Uh that's a good one.

Mitch. What's up, buddy? Yeah. Uh Fica will be gone before mid-October. Mid-October.

I'm just, it's apathy. It's not apathy. I care. I want them to be good. But then Yeah.

You watch this and you're like, what is the point? But even with like, you know. I saw some watch parties. I saw some bars bumping down on Old World Third. People are just, it's a Sunday night of Labor Day weekend.

It was a reason to be out. Have the game on. This was nothing more than like. Yeah. A work event.

I got a work party.

Okay, how was it? I didn't want to go, but it was fine. It was fine. I did want to make sure because no Carlos tomorrow again. I gotta talk about this Michigan game. I'm very conflicted this time of the year.

Who I'm rooting for. I do want Big Ten teams to win. Because then the conference, you know, if the Badgers. Like if Nebraska lost the other day, which I was kind of rooting for, but then.

Well, then, when you play Nebraska, or if you play one of these teams, they have a loss, and suddenly the wind's not as good. I know we don't play. uh Nebraska this year, but like stuff like that. But I also want them to lose because it is funny. And then I like when, like, I wanted Western Michigan to win.

Because Boise State, who lost to Oregon, although close again. Western Michigan plays Boise State in a couple of weeks, and that could be like a big game. And I like that kind of stuff. I like when games don't seem like they're going to be big games, and all of a sudden, Duke 7-0. You know.

Or one of the Power Six schools is 6-0, and they're playing another Power Six school that's 6-0. That is what I like the most about college football. These games that have playoff implications that you would have not expected. And Michigan. I wanted them to lose.

I wanted them to lose. I wanted them to lose. I wanted them to lose that game. Which they did. They lost the game.

They played 60 minutes and lost. All summer long.

Okay. All summer long.

People are telling me. about the World Cup. And soccer, and how it makes no sense that the only person who knew how much time was on the clock. was the referee. I like that about soccer.

Um I just do. It might just be because it's like how I grew up. If I first checked out soccer now, I think I would be like, this is dumb. I don't have a problem with it. I actually didn't like it in high school when it counts down.

It starts at 40 and counts down. I don't like that. Because then you have to stop the clock, but then the guy on the Doing the clock has to stop it. I just, I like. I'm the ref.

Their stoppage time. I'm not stopping the clock, and I'm determining how much time you think should be left in this game. And I'll continue to tell you. Like when I would do extra time, I'd be like, two minutes. It's about two minutes.

About one minute left, guys. You added time in this game. You added time. There were zeros on the clock. And then they went back and said there was one second.

Now was there like 0.003? Because technically, the game would not be over, and they probably should go down two tenths of a second.

So maybe that can be something that comes out of this. But the Big Ten having their refs in their Building with that being a must-win game. If Michigan loses that game, there's so many things that get fucked up. Michigan is Oklahoma's big noon kickoff next week. That gets fucked up.

Michigan against Ohio State, that gets fucked up. Uh John Fanta. Gave this explanation. I guess this is on behalf. Of NBC.

Who they aired the game. It was their clock they were using. Uh I guess he's doing um Cover work here. Here's John Fanta. If the video could play when I press play, that would be tremendous.

The official time of the game is kept by the Big Ten. Our cameras are not the official arbiter of timekeeping within the game. That is the Big Ten and game officials' responsibility. After the game last night, the Big Ten released a statement and raw video from its replay process that showed how and why the decision was made. Here's a look back.

At that video. And with the ball hitting the defensive back for Western Michigan. That gave Michigan another second and one last play where J.J. Buchanan came up big. Come house now.

One thing that needs to be said in this conversation about Michigan is. They still made the play. Like they got an extra second, and they still made the play.

So you do have to credit them for making the play. It was a Hail Mary. It was not easy. They made the play.

So you do have to credit them for that. But I think sometimes we forget what year it is. It's 2026. Robots are years away from dominating all of life. Shouldn't the TV clock be synced up with the in-game clock?

And also, that's a message that you need somebody on. Immediately. The bit however it's got to happen.

Someone from the Big Ten. Must in that broadcast say, look. This is what's happening. We'll show you. This is what's happening.

Not let the Big Ten put out a... YA paperback novel description of it on Twitter. Not have John Fanta read a script 24 hours later. You gotta say right now what the fuck is happening. How do you feel?

Like what if at what if tonight?

Well, tonight the Badgers stopped. Notre Dame and a Hail Mary, and we're going to win the game. And you all celebrated for 30 seconds. And then the rest are like, no, wait a minute, there's a second left. Even though the TV said no, we magically have this other feed.

And then you lose. That'd be as heartbreaking as you could ever get.

So Western Michigan. You don't ever get over a game like this. Ever. Because of the sheer Unexpectedness of it all. I'm somebody who I don't like to cheer until zero, zero, zero.

So, if you ever see me and the Super Bowl, and they're up. I mean, if we're up like 30 points, okay, and there's a minute left. But if it's a nine-point game and there's a minute-05 left, and the other team is two-time up, I'm not celebrating shit. I don't know what's going to happen. But the minute the clock hits all zeros, I let it all out.

And I'm someone who's protecting myself, I guess. But if I let it all out and then immediately It gets taken away from me like that fucking sucks.

So that was some bullshit.

So I feel for Western Michigan. On that one. But the Badgers lose. I think they lost in a way we all thought they were going to lose. I still walk away feeling.

Stung, disappointed. Bummed out. Because why they were good moments, and we could say, well, it was 13, 10 at halftime. It was 21-3 at halftime with the Packers and Bears. Again, I just told you I'm a 0-0-0 on the clock guy.

So I'm not a But in the first half, we really had them. I'm not that kind of guy. You play a full 60 minutes, and the second 30 minutes are a result of what has happened in the first 30 minutes. That's that's This was all the same game. It was all indicative.

So. Yeah, I mean you went into the locker room. Down three, but then you went back in down 28. What the fuck happened? What the fuck happened?

Badgers lose. On a Sunday night, enjoy your labor day. Brewers Cubs. I just want everybody to know too. I've been talking a lot of shit about the Cubs on Twitter.

I'm just I'm just grifting them. Bukowski does it so well with the Bears. I'm just, I'm just, I'm just grifting cubs. I am using, I'm not doing it to you guys. Because we're in this together.

But for Chicago, there's enough of them. I'm trying to hit some like benchmarks. on some of my numbers. And Fishing for Cubs fans is very easy to do.

So That is what I'm doing. And there's another series starting tomorrow, so I will continue to do that.

So, just mute me for the rest of the week if it's too much. We'll be back on Tuesday. Thanks to Ben for stopping by. Thanks to all of you that have joined. Or we'll watch or listen maybe sometime on your Labor Day.

And until then. I I don't I don't know. Until then. I don't have a tape. What am I doing?

Tim? Tim went to the game. Tim, uh Tim wanted to do a pregame at like three o'clock. I said Why? Thanks for stopping into the Winklerverse.
