Good afternoon, everybody. Welcome into the Winklerverse. I'm Bart Winkler. Grant Bills alongside. On the bottom screen of your dan Shaney YouTube stream is Paul imag.
Okay. My kid talks like that sometimes. Braun Breaker isn't Braun Breaker. It's. Bron Breaker.
Bruck. Oh, as there. Bruck. All right. Um I will start with the news of Dolly Parton's passing.
80 years old. I'm not Into Eulogy radio. I don't know. Do can I call this I mean, whatever. Am I still a radio guy?
I don't know. I don't know what you are. At least when I got canned, it wasn't for my boss to fucking take my job. That's some shit. Jesus Christ.
Mad Dog. Um But I think this Like this one you mentioned, I don't know. I don't have like a Dolly Parton anecdote. I'm not going to pretend like she inspired my life. But It's sad when anyone passes, and Dolly Parton's one that you bring up.
So. If you're just finding out. Breaking news is brought to you by. Dwayne's cover it all. Yeah.
Yeah. So, all right, Pete to Dolly. The new Packers jerseys, do we want to pontificate? Tim, edit a commercial in there, please. Yeah.
Already?
Well Whatever. Um I have very few thoughts on jerseys ever.
Well, I don't. That in and of itself is a thought, Paul. Everyone has that. I think it's a thought to say, you know what, whatever. That's a unique take because that's a take that very few have.
All right, there you go. Don't care. Do you, Grant, in your Desmond Howard Goodwill 599 shirt, do you have? You should put that on a graphic, Paul's face and big low. Don't care.
Can we start doing those for our episodes? Yeah. Do you actually know the Jay Cutler? Do you know the Jay Cutler story, the meme story of Jay Cutler? The one of him on the bench looking up.
No, the one of him in the ba being approached in the bathroom by a fan. No. I don't know if this is legend or fact or a five rings a bell to me. Thank you.
So the story goes like this: as it's been shared with me. Jay Cutler's in the restroom and earlier in his NFL career in a guy who went to school with him and then followed his NFL career. Stans realizes he's pissing next to Jay Cutler at the urinal. And he's being really kind. Jay, you know, we went to school at the exact same time.
I've really enjoyed watching you be able to come. And Jay drunkenly leans over to the other stock. Don't Care. Which Perfectly sounds like it's probably made it through the test of time because it's totally believable for Jay Cutler. And who knows, maybe happened exactly like that.
I wouldn't put it past the situation and the person involved. Yeah. I love the idea of realizing while you're pissing midstream. You know what I mean?
So the story goes. Did you guys ever see? It's not well known, but Kirk Cousins once said, You like that afterwards? Did you ever see that? Never.
Yes. This is my first time hearing it. It's really fucking funny. Yeah. It's really, it's really, it's just so, it's just really funny.
You know, Kirk Cousins is still. Like getting paid big money in the NFL. That's something. Isn't he starting week one? Is he going to?
Is that is that the scuttle butt? I think that's their plan. No one's talking about Mendoza and like, is he even good? It was just the easiest, most simple, clear-cut draft pick ever that no one ever stopped to watch. Dude, first-round picks, no one cares anymore.
No one cared about Cam Ward. Yeah. No one cared about Trevor Lawrence. By the way, sometimes when I check who's watching what videos for the day. There was an that came up from 22.
Okay, do this for four years, yeah, and I also found the one where Grant. Like made fun of something Paul said.
So that's a weekly occurrence. But this was on an episode Grant wasn't on. Mm. And then so we had Grant be on the next episode. Uh Oh mm-hmm mm-mm.
Okay. And that little mistake has cost him. 208 weeks of his life. Oh man, yeah. He should be so lucky to join this every week.
But you had asked me, now there's two quarterbacks I forgot, but you also had me rank. between Lamar Jackson, Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields. Say say those names again. You had me in 2022 start a franchise now.
Okay. Trevor Lawrence, Lamar Jackson, Justin Fields. Wow.
Okay. Well you you choke Justin Fields, I guarantee you took Justin Fields. I took Trevor Lawrence. Whoa, even actually, more of a curveball. Then I took Fields over Lamar.
You were really, I mean, you were really high on Joe. He was good in college. Yeah, that was during the Horvot Winkler era on the fan, when Justin Field was. coming out and you guys are like. I don't want it to be true 'cause it's the Bears, but.
he's gonna be great and he's gonna be the quarterback that does this and yeah. I mean, that take how many g how many more playoff wins does Trevor does Lamar Jackson have in that era than Trevor Lawrence. Like, you can't be that different. No. Well, Lamar, how many does he have?
Two or three? Playoff wins? What does Lawrence have? One, two? Yeah, one or two.
That was their second one. Lamar's been to an AFC championship game, though, right? Because isn't there one when Zay Flowers fumbled at the goal line? Was that a. Divisional round, or was that a ch I thought that was a championship game?
That must have been a championship game. And then remember, of course, uh, Trevor Lawrence didn't, he was the one who came back on Justin Herbert 27 down, which of course was not Justin Herbert's fault because he had a bad coach and an O-line and no wide receivers and his defense sucked. And Um, should we do that again so that in four years we can look back? Like, should we find like Mendoza, Ty Simpson and Cam Ward. Ooh, Cam Ward.
I think that's an easy answer for me too, actually. Unless he's just doomed. The only here's the counterpoint to that. Having put no thought into it, and I didn't prepare Grant for this.
So I have to apologize. as per usual. But the argument would be that Ty Simpson is a RAM. Cam Ward is a Titan.
So just infrastructure wise. You fast forward four years, Ty Simpson has a much better advantage than Cam Ward.
Well, the problem is Ty Simpson is never going to play for the Rams because when Stafford is done, they're going to trade for Joe Burrow. And Ty Simpson will God, you're fucking right, aren't you? He'll be the backup there, he'll be traded somewhere else. You know, one of the more interesting dominoes of this NFL season is what goes on with the Bengals. I don't know if you guys saw today.
Jamar Chase went down with an injury. Joe Burrow already had a calf go on him. This can't like. What if the Bengals suck this year? What if Joe Burrow says, I'm out?
And then Jamar Che says, well, screw this. I'm out. Like, and those guys are just the veil. One goes to Philly, probably. One goes to LA, maybe Minnesota.
Maybe. You say, hold on, though. You saying Burrow as a Ram and Bart instantly agreeing is based on nothing, right? No, it's just based on just based on vibes, bro. Vibes, okay.
An intuition. Yeah. Intuition. There's nothing that would connect McVay to Burrow other than. Oh, it's the NFL's easy on this because there's certain teams that are just going to be in on every big-time player that comes available.
Sure. The Rams and the Eagles.
So one will probably go up. Although the Vikings could. The Vikings, I wonder if at any point Kevin O'Connell. you know, with one of these quarterbacks that comes available. Let's not rule out the Falcons for some weird reason either.
For what they'll be interested, they'll come up short, but they'll be interested. Yeah, and we'll be in the mix. Yeah. You're saying for burrow or what do you or or what? Chase.
Oh, for Jamar Chase. Yeah. Yeah. I'm talking chase.
Okay, the jerseys, which I alluded to. 17 minutes ago. I first saw him, and again, I'm a big time Jersey critic. You are. You want to know what my thought was?
Jay Cutler style? It was pretty similar to your thought.
Okay. It was And by the way, Bukowski's already been bullied into liking them. Yeah. He's gone through it to Packers. He's gone through.
What takes people weeks, Bukowski has experienced in six hours. It's it's been brilliant to watch. Yeah, so Peter Makowski, friend of show, friend of life. What did he what did he tweet initially? Yeah, these stink.
And then that got an engagement of Two hundred thousand views. And then Upon further reflection Though I am philosophically, there we go, opposed to the project. The Packers alts are fine, 6,000 views. How many tweet I wanna know how many tweets and replies are in between those two. Signposts.
You know what I mean?
Bitching about throwbacks, calling the bears Syracuse. Yep. As a Syracuse man, by the way, as a guy who went to Syracuse. Yeah. He did?
He's never said that. All right. I can't tell if you're kidding. Yeah. It's like when Andy Bernard, where he works.
He talks about it a lot less than most Q's people do. Like I sometimes forget he went to Syracuse. I don't mind the jerseys at all. I don't. I guess I don't like the numbers as much if I had a complaint.
There are hot takes. The white helmet has the gold stripe now, which people wanted. I don't I don't like The all whites are at home. That's what I don't like. I don't like wearing all white at home.
Patriot. Thank you.
I also think that Packers, Bears. You should either play in your normal traditional jerseys. Or if you're going to throw back, you have to throw it back too. We're making these things called fullbacks. Oh.
I like the Admirals promoted a bunch of FOBACs. Which fake throwbacks. Yeah, I bought the Timber Rattlers were advertising fullbacks when I was there. I'm talking about that. I went to a Timber Rattlers game.
Like, I went to fucking Syracuse. Can't stop bringing it up. Um And then Superhero Day. He was superhero day. My kids are like, is that the real Spider-Man?
I go, Sure. Yeah. He's done fighting crime and The Queens and Bronx and Brooklyn, so you can come and fucking take pictures with. You should see this guy. Fattest Captain America ever.
Oh. This poor guy. I saw your photo, yeah. Yeah, Wolverine fell off the dugout. That was sick.
And you could tell he was so pissed. He was so like, why did I fucking have to do this tonight? Or a loss. But no, I don't mind him. If you're going to do throwbacks, so now if you don't like the, this is what Bukowski's doing, if you don't.
If you don't mind throwback, we can talk about throwback nature in general. I do think Nike's got too many. They got too much in the pot. I think they're. It's too much.
Um I think that a team should have a standard jersey and a throwback. We don't need a new throwback, or we don't need a new alternate every year. Correct. This is the way that we're heading. Although I did like in 1994 when the Packers had those throwbacks with the.
Stripe at the top, and then the either white or blue. Um They wore those, every team did, for the 75th anniversary of the NFL. Everyone wore their throwbacks for half the season. They wore him for eight games.
So if you're gonna do something, jump all in. Just as it's otherwise, it's a clear, like. I don't mind a money grab. I just wish it was disguised a little less than so. But that's just that who gives a shit?
That's the worst fucking thing. Like that, I don't mind a money grab, but don't do it so blatantly. That's not even an I should cancel my podcast. Just a comment, yeah. It's just like, what is the fucking point?
That's why, as soon as you were saying it the first time, all that came to mind: there are opinions, there are hot takes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, Bart. Oh, Whining with Winkler, fucking brazen Bart.
I just don't like, I like more subtle money grabs. At Edward Jones, we believe rich isn't about having life all figured out. It's opening yourself to all the possibilities. Yep. which will be eventually you know, give it a year or two, will definitely be mentioned. on the Bill Simmons network. That's true. If it hasn't been already ended up over there, a lot of my takes end up over there.
And now he's pretending to like college football. That's also a thing I do. Yeah. You know, college football is back this weekend. I actually am excited.
I didn't even know it was. And I have a fantasy draft.
Okay. I'm in a lot of fantasy leagues. I have one draft that is In person. Oh yeah. I don't really like those anymore.
In twenty twenty six? Because then it's like Good pick.
So early. Reach. I don't know, man. Yeah. So jerseys are jerseys are fine.
On the jerseys, I thought I would hate them. I don't hate them, which to me is a win. I also have noticed something. Uh I I you see people reviewing all the different Teams that have put them out. I see everyone rating the Texans very high.
The Titans, very like Trevor Sikkima, you know, pro football focus, tweeted, yeah, the Titans nailed it with these. Like, you realize why the Titans nailed it, right? Is you don't. You don't know what their actual jerseys look like. Like the teams that you think are doing a great job with these alternates are the teams that don't have.
Like, you could tell me these are the Titans' normal jerseys, and I'd say, sure, I got, yeah, probably, I don't know.
So all the teams where you hate him, it's the teams that are Iconic.
So, it's my belief that teams like the Packers just shouldn't do throwbacks. Packers, Niners, Cowboys just. Do your thing and leave the alternates for like the The Texans and the Falcons.
Now, what I do like is that at least they're claiming. These jerseys were motivated or inspired by The stock certificates the Packers used to sell. It's the alabaster green.
So that's what they're saying. I like the GB, the Lombardy logo. Yeah, I like that too. But then I wish that could be on the helmet. Right.
It's like you have to kind of tuck all of these things in, and it ends up being a little busy. I'm not a designer. I will say the fan merch is awesome for this stuff. Like the long sleeves and the hoodies, it's a really cool thing. I'm not going to buy any of it because none of it is less than $150, but it plays really well on hoodies, crew necks, sweatshirts, t-shirts, ball caps, maybe even better than a jersey, which I think has to count for something.
And now that I'm looking at it, um. a little more here. I am a little. Upset? that there's not I mean, there's so much as I pull it up on the stream.
There's so much space that could be filled in with sponsor patches. And it just seems like a real missed opportunity. Seems like a waste. Yeah. Especially for a team that refuses to sell naming rights.
Like, how can the Packers be upset about their financial situation when these jerseys don't have any sponsors on them? For not selling your naming rights, you're basically like you've signed your death warrant as a franchise. It's just a matter of how long does it take? Yeah. I mean, you need to.
You need to NASCAR the shit out of that stadium. Even more so. Every seat should have its own sponsor, truly. It's a stadium. It's not a church.
Right, right, right.
So big swing and a miss by the Packers there. the lack of uh sponsors. Paul I have a good Question? Like one that I'm proud of. Yeah, congrats, buddy.
Hey, hey, hey, hey. First time for everything. I have one I'm proud of. And I'm not going to lead with it because I want to lead one with one that we do each year. But it is fun to look back on.
Like one that was really interesting that you guys dumped on back in March. which was the Brewers are about to start a must-win game in late September, early October. And you have to pick the pitcher who's starting it right now. God damn it. And they're like, the answer is Brandon Woodruff.
And are you going to make us pick our playoff rotation? No, no, no.
So, my good question. I'd rather fuck a dead fish. My good question that you're going to have to wait on is a brewer's question. My bad question, my like standard. Basic ass question is a Packers one, but then you like you, I think we agreed.
It was like, well, if there's a must-win game this season at the end, Woodruff is the best pitcher. Is he coming back, P.S.?
Well, it seems like he might, but if no, Grant is shaking his head. No. No. Then what was that report?
Well, he'll he'll be healthy. If if it plays out like this, he'll he won't miss time next year, probably. Maybe. He could be a Kyle Schwarber type figure, which would be really cool, actually. But no, I still don't.
He's not even throwing off a mound yet. He's playing catch. He's doing less than what you guys do with your kids in the yard. Huh.
So, yeah, so he's not pitching.
So, he certainly, by the way, even if he was healthy, obviously, it kind of. In hindsight, if I didn't ask you that in March, I would have thought, of course, we would have all assumed Mizorowski was. gonna be this great this season. We can go back to the episode from March. You'd be like, oh, wow, that was actually, this is actually kind of a surprise.
Anyway, I set that up to say, here's my basic ask question, but one that I think is a good, like, bookmark for a time and a place. The Packers' leading receiver Doesn't have to be a wide receiver. The player on the Packers who leads the team in receptions and yards this season, receptions and receiving yards this season. Is not a receiver because it's Tucker Kraft. Before I answer that.
I have two brewer things to bring up. I have a brewer's topic that's really good, so if you can hold it, that would be great. Let me just bring it up. You couldn't have done it before I asked my Packers. I tried and then.
All right. Sal Freelick is back. Also, what was your favorite Jonathan Ornelius. Memory. Also Abner Uribe sent to Class A for rehab.
I might have to get back to the Timber Railers tonight. Also, and I want to say this very far away.
So that I don't get any criticism for it. Because we always are every year A pitcher gets hurt, right? Before the playoffs? You know Miss is an injury waiting to happen, right? Why?
I just have had that bad feeling every time I look at him. I look at him with those kids at the Little League. I'm like, this motherfucker's getting hurt September 28th. Yeah. Well, that's nice.
Thanks for contributing that before answering Paul's question. I think the answer is: mm-hmm. I think it will be a receiver. I think it will be. I think it will be.
I think it will be Matthew Golden. Wow.
Grant is nodding in in confirmation. Let me say this also about the receiving core. Christian Watson. I said on my postgame Friday night. That he still needs to take a step.
Of course. Like he fumbled that football. But I feel like Christian Watson. has plateaued. I don't think there is a next level for him.
I think if the I think if he would have caught that first pass from Rodgers in Minnesota, He's already entrenched in the Hall of Fame. But he dropped it. I think if the Packers agreed with you, then Watson is overpaid. If he has plateaued. No.
By the way, he's not overpaid. I'm saying he's overpaid if He's already played his best football. But the contract isn't that it's not that bad. But I'm saying they're paying him to be better than what he's been. They're not paying him to be as good as he's been.
Like, and I'm not saying he's only half the player that he's going to, like, but he, if this is the best, if he's played his best ever stretch of football. That's that's not great. Mm. If he plays for the next three years like he did last year. I think that I think that contract is very fair.
If he's just as good. Yeah, I think he was very Um Man, it's tough to say that a player in year five is about to take a big leap. I thought he got better in lots of ways last year. I thought he got better at catching the ball away from his body. He became a better route runner.
Like, I think he's just gotten better at little things. I don't think he's gonna explode to become some level of wide receiver he He hasn't shown previously. But I still think even late last year, we were seeing these little things he was getting better at. But he's not going to turn into Jamal. I feel like a lot of people are expecting.
Like more from him. And I don't think it's coming. If Christian Watson is the Packers' best receiver, that's bad. Hold on.
Well, so if he, among, let's just say he is the Packers' best receiver. If he is the Packers' best receiver, he is the 25th best receiver on a team. Like, how many teams have a better top option at receiver? Than if the Packers, in fact, Watson is their number one. Like, how many number ones are better than Watson in that game?
More than half the league? Probably more than half, right? And I would say. Then plus a little bit more. I don't know if it's twenty, twenty-five teams, but And that's, and I would agree that he.
I don't Maybe even more than gold. And Watson, his size is very special and unique. Like he has the upside to be. The Packers' best receiver, that when we look back on this in March, and like, oh, really? We thought, we thought.
Okay, this is our Trevor Lawrence question then. That's what I'm saying. That's what I like about these, even though they're kind of basic. When you say best, do you most catches most yards? Like, what do you mean by best?
So I took it in this particular question when I said Tucker Kraft was receptions and receiving yards.
So. I don't think Watson will be. I think Matthew Golden is built. And plays a position much more likely to rack up yards and catches. I think Jaden Reed and Christian Watson are both very similar, where one week they could go off for 180 yards and two touchdowns, and then the next week could be very quiet.
Because they're not necessarily guys who every single week are going to show up and catch number. That's in theory what Matthew Golden should be. That's what Romeo Dobbs was.
So if you think Matthew Golden is good and will be healthy all year, then he would. He would be that guy. I just don't know if I believe he's that good and if he'll be healthy all year. Does that make sense? It does make sense.
You both, so Grant, who's your answer then? Is it golden? Are you agreeing with Bart? Um It's probably Kraft. It's probably Kraft.
But I think Golden will be a more consistent producer than the other two wide receivers. But I would bet craft.
So obviously there's receivers that are better than Watson, but. Zay Flowers, DJ Moore, Jerry Judy. Like I'd rather have Watson over all of those guys. Over Zay Flowers? Yes, yes.
Oh my God. The top paid receiver in football ever. I'd rather have say. I'd rather have Watson on two of his contracts than Zay Flowers on his.
Well, certainly at the contract, the Flowers contract is absurd. He got like 50 more million guaranteed. Terrible. Yeah. Also, I'm all the way out on Marshawn Lynch, Marshawn Lloyd.
I don't I don't think he That's like the first time he's played. Yeah, he's AJ Dillon to me. The first moment we have of him as a Packer playing football and succeeding.
Now you're out. Out. Were you out prior to the yeah, I was gonna say, what pushed you over the edge? Watching him finally run. Interesting.
Okay. And my football opinion should be. I mean, they should be valued. Probably played. Six organized games in my life, and it was flag football.
Yep. And I mean, more importantly, though, you're an owner. Neighborhood ball, college football, snow on Coat Field, R.I.P. How the fuck do you take over? You have a huge field for college, kids.
How do you take it away? They got rid of the field? Yeah. What do they do with it? Dorms?
Oh, like Eagle Hall? The new one? I was thinking about this too. How do you feel when Like I left. There's so many things that have been made or changed.
in Fond du Lac since I left. Or La cross since I left. And it feels... It just feels wrong. It feels like I don't know.
I don't like when things change after you leave. I have the same thoughts about Sheboygan, yes. Because, like, There's all these people. that live in Fond du Lac. For the last 10 years, they moved there 10 years ago.
Like I moved to Shorewood 13 years ago. I don't know Shood prior to this, but I think I know everything about Shood. And I think all these people think, oh, yeah, we go to the breweries. The breweries, when I was in Fondu Lac, there were only a few bars because half of the bar owners in that town flamed their place for the insurance. Allegedly, somewhere.
Westside lanes. I mean. Those two for sure. I know I don't. I don't know what happened with Pizzaville, but that's gone too.
I don't fear of missing out as this. We all roll our eyes at my generation. We get FOMO. I feel similarly to you, Bart. Everything by the lakefront, Grant, in lacrosse.
Those big Zeitler buildings, whatever the fuck they are. Mm-hmm. They weren't there when I was there. I don't like the idea of life. taking place somewhere without me.
A place that I love. What happens when you die? Everyone just. Like Dolly Parton died today and I'm just like. We gotta mention it, Dolly Barton.
Wow, what a life well lived.
Well, and and maybe my fear of life happening without me in a place that I love, maybe that's uh just a microcosm of my fear of death. Maybe. I just don't want to die. Would you rather die suddenly or like 10 years of suffering? Yeah.
Paul's locked in. I'm not participating. I know. I figured. I just I just figured.
I think Miz is getting hurt September 28th. Is it at the same age? Am I going to die abruptly at age 80 and suffer for the, like. I don't know. I don't know.
Okay. Good question. Thanks.
So let's conclude and say your actual answer is Tucker Kraft, like minus. Yes. How are you answering when people ask you specifically? on air in your real life. How do you think the Packers are doing this year, Bart?
How are you answering that question? Me? Either of you. I think they'll be good. I'm worried they're going to be the same exact thing they were last year.
They're going to be the same exact thing. That's probably what they're going to do. Yeah. Yeah. They'll win a game, perhaps, or be close in a playoff game.
I mean, if that's. If you're like over-under is that they make the playoffs but don't make it as far as the NFC championship game. Like if the over-under is the divisional round. I would take the under. If the divisional round is the push, how about that?
If making the divisional round is the push. Are you going over as in they make the NFC championship game or the Super Bowl? Or under, meaning wild card or don't make the playoffs. I would go under. I mean, I would take the push, can't take the push, I would take the under.
I would take under. They're not winning the division. The lions are going to be good, I think.
Okay. R? Yes. But I love See A lot of me, I'm held back obviously by my LaFleur hate. No.
But as much as I hate LaFleur. And it's not like, oh, I like when it's raining, you're wet. You can't get more wet, so to speak. I guess you can, but... I I can hate LaFleur more.
So I already hate him more now. than I did before the preseason. But as My hate for LaFleur continues to go in that direction. My love of Jordan Love continues to go in the other direction. Yeah, you've got yourself a quandary.
Do you know how many quarterbacks? I would take If you're like, you need to win this season. Draft a quarterback. Do you know how many quarterbacks I would take? Over Jordan love.
Right now? I'm worried your answer is like Three. Maybe my answer is Josh Allen. You would take Jordan Love over Patrick Mahomes. Yeah, Mahomes is Toast.
You have to win this season. This year. And you're not taking Mahomes, you're taking Jordan Love. I'm taking Josh Allen. Who's never won and then I'm taking Jordan love?
Who's never won? And who's the play caller in this hypothetical? Me? Yeah, yeah. That's a crazy take.
That was it. Yes, Jordan Love being your number two QB is nuts. I think a lot of these other guys just get a little more PR than A lot of these other guys have one meaningful. You're saying one season, this season. Jordan Love has one meaningful playoff win.
Yeah. You're taking him over guys who have recently won Super Bowls or gone consistently to the bottom. See where I think Watson has plateaued. I think Jordan Love is still growing and growing. And that's fine.
So maybe if you said over the next five years, I would take Jordan Love second. I might think about that more, but like one season right now. Who am I missing? Emotional fucking, I don't even want to get out of here, Joe Burrow. What about Stafford?
Stafford is a criminal. He is robbing football fans. of their intelligence by you thinking he's this fucking good. Stepford is no different than like Joe Montana or Dan Marina. I don't know if you're arguing the point you want to be arguing.
Stafford is like. Never was like Philip Rivers to me. That's I mean, that's absurd though. Like, that's not your real take. That's your hot take.
What makes Stafford so fucking great? Dude, well there's statistics, there's record. Yeah. There's Super Bowl. Rings I feel like Jordan Love is very sim I I think the Rams would have a better shot at the Super Bowl with Jordan Love over Matthew Stafford.
Maybe there's maybe a better chance he'll be healthy healthy wall to wall. Yeah. Although, you know. See, Stafford gets the weird nagging injuries. Jordan Love, like, misses a week or two with a...
You know, so it's not like Jordan Love is perfect clean bill of health man either. It's just Tyrod Taylor is going to be terrible as the backup. Malik Willis is going to be dog shit in Miami. He doesn't have a chance to succeed. He's not been given much of a shot.
No. All right, tough. Deshaun Watson's going to go fucking bonkers week one, baby. Is that your like zag?
Well, they're on the road. They're starting because the Browns are on the road the first two weeks. Oh, that's actually actually a decent theory because he doesn't have to play at home then. Yeah, you can't play your starting quarterback at home. That you're paying $55 million for because you're gonna get booed.
Did you know that the Browns owner also owns our Milwaukee Bucks? I'm seeing a lot of 30s next to bucks in these power ranking articles. By the way, if that, I saw 26 as in 26 and 56, and that is a. An easy over.
So how much should I put on it? Yeah. Everything you got. Over-unders suck because you got to wait the whole fucking year. Yeah.
So it's got to be a sizable amount of money. Yeah. To make it worth it. To make it worth it. Yeah.
The Bucks, what was the Bucks over-under? 24 and a half when I last checked? Is that right? I thought I saw 26, something. Maybe it was 20.
Yeah, but that's easy. That's easy. That's easy. If I had the money. They're not winning.
They're going to win 25 games. If I had. If I had $500,000 in front of me. Like I have access to $500,000. Mm-hmm.
I would put half of it on Bucks Over. I'd put 250K on Bucks Over. Do you have 500 bucks? You could probably try to wrestle up 500 bucks. There you go.
All right, but You know. But hosting a tailgate pretty much sunk me for the fucking... fiscal year?
Well, n not to make people feel bad, but like w Don't make me feel bad. I'm cooking up a pack of the brats tonight. I had so much food left over, I'm eating good all fucking September.
Well, it's good that you got your... your beef supply prior to this week. That's a win for you. Thank you.
That's a good win. And you froze it.
Okay, here's my quick sidebar that I wasn't planning to ask. What? I didn't freeze the meat. Oh, you didn't?
Well, it's still sitting in my trunk.
Okay. You'll get sick regardless then of the sourcing. Let's revisit this because I asked it right around the time of Josh Jacobs' situation, shall we say? And I said the leading rusher on the Packers will. Be someone not currently on the roster.
I just want to revisit that with 10 days to go. Did I say yes? No, I think we all, I think we said like, no, it'll be Jacobs, I think was the consensus of the group. And then you mentioned Marshawn Lynch Lloyd. And like that's I don't know.
Well, he stinks. I already that's like their number two guy, and Jacobs is in old in running back years anyway, even beyond anything. I'm still a CB30 truther, Chris Brooks. But I mean, so but I'm saying right now today, similar to the Tucker Kraft question, just You know, there's one of those we'll look back and we'll say, really? We thought that.
Jacobs was going to lead the team in rushing. Who leads the team in rushing this season? Rushing yards. Jacobs. Or can or you're allowed Jacobs Lloyd, Brooks, or someone not on the team?
Sky Moore. Are we keeping him? I think we should. I think we should. Yeah.
Okay. Are we keeping Isaiah? I think Jacobs could miss six games, and I still think it's Jacobs. Yeah, the leading rusher, we're going to have like... Daryl Thompson numbers.
He's going to be like 873 yards and six touchdowns. RIP.
So you're going with Jacobs still? Jacobs is the answer? Yeah. 'Kay. I know we don't cover the Arizona Cardinals.
Who leads the Arizona Cardinals in rushing yards this season? Jeremiah Love, Tyler Algier, James Conner, Trey Benson, Carson Beck. Carson back.
So, forgive me because I somebody asked me. Bless their heart.
Somebody said they have tickets for the LaFleur Bowl coming up this Friday. Ugh. And I forgot. I mean, I know Mike LaFleur is the coach of the Cardinals, but... When I looked at Packers Cardinals on the schedule, I had forgotten.
That this was probably set up with the brothers calling each other. Oh, for sure. Because preseason games are set up by the teams. Yeah. Usually find a team you do or Like some teams play each other almost every year.
Um But for sure, the Packers and Cardinals are going to probably play. If they're both, whatever. I can't even think of it. I can't even think that. I was gonna say six to the next 10 years, but shit.
I just don't I just feel like the La Fleur family. I feel like they've just. I feel like they've. Invited themselves into a party. that nobody wants them at.
And they're like just making themselves very comfortable. At home. Like they're at a party. It's a big enough party. A lot of people are here.
So it doesn't matter if there's some riffraff. But they're poking around in the fridge. They're pulling out the, you know, the, you're going to keep the. The Bocce Ball and the Testy toss. You're going to keep all those games away.
You just wanted to play Cornell. But they brought those out because they fucking are so good at, like, they just, it just feels like. Two of the coaches in the league. being the fleurs is so unnatural. It's really gross to me.
It's an over-indexing of LaFleur's. And they're just going to be like. You know, the problem, it's just too fucking much. It's just too fucking much. I love the announcement.
They're like the Bellas in the tag division. It's like, okay, we get it. You're fucking sisters. Twin magic, get the fuck out of here and win something. I love the analogy.
I don't agree. But I love the analogy. Like, Aaron Glenn exists. Like they're We're so in our butt. There are some dog shit coaches in the league.
Like Matt LaFleur, you don't. Like, you don't have to love him and think he's gonna win a Super Bowl. Like he has won a lot of games and, you know. Why are there the fluors at this party again? Oh, their dad runs the fucking place and he's a big sponsor to the team and fucking shit.
Why is Winkler the starting goalie?
Okay. Yeah, see, I this is why I'm so accurate in my analogies because they're from a place of my own experience. From a place of knowing. I've been to many parties. With my brothers, where I didn't belong.
This is why I come up with that. I am going to save my brewers topic. Because it's good and it will be completely relevant next week. We're not. Hey, you got a goal?
Yeah. You don't want a little Barton Grant? Walk around. Let me ask you this one and then we'll see what happens. This is my pop culture question for you.
Whoa. We do more than sports here on the Winklerverse. Yeah, we like to have fun. It's like, do you see how it's like sprinkled in? It's not like the main course.
Well, we don't take ourselves too seriously, Paul. That's the key. Yeah, that's the thing. And if we were ever to get together and take a picture, I'd have my arms folded and my back to Paul, and Grant would be giving us both headlocks. Like, did you see?
I'm sorry. I don't want to like. I don't want to like shit on I don't, remember I said I'm getting out of the shitting on business? Did we need Tim for this? The universe is really t is really testing you.
Know why? The I mean the univer Here's the thing. I don't like shitting on other people either, but god damn it. It's like it just keeps getting harder not to. I know.
Like, I don't want to say anything anymore. But the fucking score is lighting itself on fire. At Edward Jones, we believe rich isn't about having life all figured out. It's opening yourself to all the possibilities. That's why your dedicated financial advisor provides long-term planning built around you, meeting you where you are, and helping you get closer to where you wanna be.
So no matter where you're starting from, you can move forward with confidence. The key to being rich is knowing what counts. Let's find you're rich, Edward Jones, member SIPC. And then D. A.
gets canned from Mad Dog Radio. And the program director is now doing the morning show. With this Babchick guy who looks exactly like Central Casting Radio third fucking chair on WIXX. And then this is the boss and they're doing some fucking headlock thing. It's just so fucking stupid.
It looks like Steve McGargie if you squint. It does. Ah, thanks for doing this. How is he at every press conference that's ever taken place in this state? It's like he teleports.
You got to be in deep to understand a Steve McGargie impression. Hey Christian, thanks for doing this. That's all I know about him. That's all I know about him. Okay, so that was your th uh Paul has a thing, but was that the extent of your thing?
I've said too much.
Okay. Paul.
So I am going to save the brewer's one. Because it'll be relevant next week. But you have a pop culture one. My pop culture one. I hope it's not wrestling.
KFC is releasing a new Oreo chicken burger. Have we seen this? Have we heard about this? Yes, I've seen the pictures. Cookie style buns, mashed potatoes covered in crushed Oreo pieces, a fried chicken fillet.
You would try this. For ten dollars. You would eat the whole thing. Would you pay for it? I would try Grant for $10.
Would you pay for it? So, wait, you would honestly try it for free? I'm not trying it for free. Yes, it's food, Paul. It's not, though.
Like, it's in a category adjacent to food. You know what KFC should roll out?
So, you really, I don't know.
Next week is fried chicken. I I I know I know you're I can't tell. Part of me thinks the answer to your question of like, of course I would, it's food, is like.
Well, I would eat a free food for $10. For 10 D's. I would eat it for 10 D's. But would you speak? Would you, if they were hand, you would eat the whole thing for free?
If given it, it's an Oreo chicken. It's not fucking. Liquid acid. But I mean, that says that you should respect your palate more than this. Forget your palate.
What about your stomach? And that, all of the do you understand? How long it takes me to go to the bathroom these days? 10 to do the business, 15 to clean the toilet. Yeah.
I'm all right eating. A fucking chocolate chicken sandwich, but that's not going to help said the situation with the timing on the toilet and everything. It's one chicken sandwich. What could it cost? $10?
More, I'm sure. Grant, what's your price on eating this thing? Uh, if it was free at work, I'd eat it, because that means I could roll my lunch over to dinner or tomorrow's dinner over or tonight's dinner over to lunch. Oh, that's always huge. That's anything that's free at work.
I've packed a lunch, and if and if I can preserve that for if I can get more legs out of the food I've packed. And paid for myself, I'll do it. Uh. Anywhere outside of these four walls, no, I would not eat that.
Okay. I just was hoping calories at work, I will eat it no matter what.
Well, calories would be the appropriate word for. Said food item.
Okay, I thought we were more self-respecting group, but apparently not.
Well, I'm not going to go, or I'm not going to go buy it. You kind of created a situation where we basically have to say yes, Paul. No, I didn't. You don't. I gave you every out.
Here's the thing, Paul. You know what I find abhorrent way more than this sandwich is like the bucket-sized lattes. Those are poison. Like, do you guys want to get your feet amputated? Do you re like the Dunkin' Donuts, like the barrel of confetti coffee?
That's, oh, that's horrible. This is green compared to that.
So it's like an Oreo, but with chicken in the middle? Yes, with and like mashed potatoes with Oreo also inside. This sandwich is currently limited to the Chinese market. Here, would you eat this? There's the question on the page: would you eat this?
Ha ha ha ha. 53% say no thanks.
Now we know we're no thanks. Yeah. I am a little concerned that We don't really know what's in our food. Yeah, absolutely. And that everything makes you sick now.
Basically. Yeah. It's like Something must be wrong with me. I'm so tired all the time, and my shits look like fireworks. Maybe it's what I'm fucking eating.
Yeah. All right. This was fun. It was nice to see you both. I missed you last week.
Tomorrow on the pod, Jordan Treske will join me. He has a book about the beginning. of the books franchise. He published it a year ago. But he's doing a book signing on Tuesday night at the Deer District.
And I taped the interview with them Sunday and I said. I'm actually not going to put this out until after you're signing, but. Speaking of, can I say one thing? Speaking of bad programming decisions. You had Vinny Retino on, and then like instantly buried it by recording National Perspective with Carlos Ortiz.
Yeah, I thought about that, but I don't look at this as a linear. But but the algorithm does.
So you you algorithmically bury it. No, I think I found like a lot of A lot of the podcasts I make Get bought the same number. But there's Like a lot, like it kind of gets like, like, this will get so many listens today. It'll also get that number of listens the next couple of days.
Okay. I think And I don't know. I'd love to hear more from people how they consume the verse, but I think there's a lot of people that just like. Rip them all off in four hours on a Friday or something.
Okay. Well, drop it let us know in the comments. Yeah, drop a like, like and subscribe, and get 25% off Happy Place Hemp also. And buy a golf simulator. Big brewers topic next week.
Yeah, everyone strap in. You're gonna have to wait for this one. Mm-hmm. Should I get a special guest like Tim Shea? We need someone behind the glass in these episodes.
Like, we need someone who pops in and out. Yeah. Do you know when you do whose voice do you think I hear any time anyone says behind the glass? This is No, this individual said it. It was like Rami?
It's Rami. I mean, Rami, like, he really emphasized every segment with, and so-and-so is behind the glass. It was I never said it. He opened every segment with letting you know who's behind the glass. It's cliche, but I think the show needs someone behind it.
Like, we have a big producer studio in here, and I love being in there in the morning when the morning show's going on, and like, I can kind of chime in, but I'm doing other things and, like. You you feel like if you're including that person, you need to make a point of it. You know, like you need to you need to invite them in. I don't know. I think it's important, but whatever.
I will say one more thing too, because I think that I was taught. to say like Like I think I did it here. I said Peter Bukowski. But then I said locked on Packers. Even though I think most people know.
Who he is? Yeah. Um I that's fine. I would I was just told to like really do it a lot. Like if I would talk with Chuck and Wickett.
They'd say, okay, that was Bart, the pr like. No, when I was listening to Howard Stern at first, I heard nine different voices. I need to figure out who those are. I need to figure that. You can't take Bobo on the phone and do two minutes on the history of Bobo before he gets into a shitty call.
You know? Bobo is what inspired Notebook Mike, by the way, because Bobo wrote all of his questions down. What do you mean, inspired notebook? Yeah. Bobo and Howard Stern always called in and he wrote his questions down.
And then I found that notebook or Mike was doing the same thing.
So I called him Notebook Mike. He did not call himself that. No, I dubbed him that.
Okay. That's good, Lord. One more thing on Stern. I was watching last week on vacation every year when this friend group gets together, we watch Yucko the Clown. Compilations.
Yeah. That guy was so unbelievably ahead of his time. It's insane.
Now, now, every Tom Dick and Harry walks around outside going up to people with a camera, you had to have foresight to do it in that. day and age. And he was dying. That affects the Yeah. Anyways.
Boys. Thank you.
Thank you.
I got to get to work. I have my soccer schedule just came out, and we have a game during Packers' Jets. Oh. So I got to reschedule it. Yes, we do.
Matt LaFleur v. Aaron Glenn and the who invited this schmuck bowl. Yeah. Thank you to Grant and Paul and to you for stopping into the Winkler Verse. Try angel side for you, tushi.
