Hey, it's Ryan Reynolds here for Mint Mobile.

Now, I was looking for fun ways to tell you that Mint's offer of unlimited premium wireless for $15 a month is back.

So I thought it would be fun if we made $15 bills. But it turns out, That's very illegal.

So there goes my big idea for the commercial. Give it a try at mintmobile.com/slash switch. Upfront payment of $45 for three months, $90 for six months, or $180 for a 12-month plan required. $15 per month equivalent to taxes and bees extra. Initial plan term only greater than 50 gigabytes and be slow when network is busy.

See terms. Lots of places can expose you to identity theft. Oh no. That's why LifeLock monitors hundreds of millions of data points a second for threats to your identity, which is way more than anyone can do on their own. If we find anything suspicious, like new loans or changes to your financial accounts, we alert you right away.

All through text, phone, email, or the Life Lock app. Get the alerts that could make all the difference. Save up to 30% your first year at lifelock.com/slash podcast. Terms apply. Good.

Good afternoon everybody, welcome into the Winkler Verse. It's a gun show Monday, Carlos Ortiz. Only on one side. Alongside rock and the NYCFC. Uh Jersey.

Yeah, it was the closest thing that I saw because I had no shirt on about seven minutes ago. Did you go to the game this weekend? I did. You know, the Chicago Fire got that ass waxed. It wasn't competitive.

It was one one at one point, and even at First goal that Freeze let up was like, how did that happen? And then it quickly became 3-1. I'm like, okay, well, it's time to just get drunk.

So he gets booed pretty bad, freeze. No, in fact, he got sheared. No, no, no.

So I thought about it. I'm like, well, you know. Fuck you for Belgium. But no, no, the fan base was very supportive. I'm like, okay, well, I guess.

You guys don't want to be stereotypical sports fans, they just want to be MLS fans. We're like, hey, come to our games. We're all very accepting.

So, no good ovation for the club.

So let me tell you a little bit about soccer before I get into some of the um Housekeeping highlights and the content of it all.

Well, I mean, I mean, it's all content, but. Carlos Otiz is here, by the way. And this is the national perspective. Yeah. Each and every Monday, we bring that to you here on The Winkler Verse.

Okay. Um I would say that What's interesting is 66 million people in America across two different networks watch the World Cup final. Open wide, push some soccer! Then Major League Soccer on FS1. On Wednesday of last week, it held a double header.

Now all the games are on Apple T V and we don't really know their numbers. The All-Star games actually on Wednesday. On Apple TV. No message. You're not playing the all-star games.

But They had two broadcasts on FS1 called by the same two announcers remotely. And they averaged about 450,000 viewers. For the night. which is nowhere near 66 million. Don't The USL, which is the other go at this.

a lower level, but they're getting level one. Clearance or whatever.

So they're going to be looked at, they're going to think of themselves as an equal. They were on CBS at like noon on a Saturday. 450,000 people.

So These aren't great numbers, but the MLS is not even out drawing. The second league in America. Let's not worry about Liga MX and the Premier League and anything else. No one cares about the MLS. And there were a lot of people that said, okay, I'll watch it this week to see what's up.

There was one goal where the goalie just whiffed a kick and it just went right through him. I watched some of the New York game. I turned it on. I can't watch those games because the fields are smaller. It's not the correct width.

It looks really weird.

So I've never been able to watch those NYCFC games. I know they're getting 80. Yeah, yeah. Uh so I just think they're gonna I don't know. That they're going to be the worst league of all time to fuck up momentum.

Because the WNBA Is going to be forever the king of that. Yeah. They need a new commissioner. The MLS at least is like. We have a shitty product, but we want you to watch it.

The WNBA is more, our product's not bad. But if you weren't here day one Or our Jason Sudakis, get the fuck out. Like they don't They don't seem to want new people.

So soccer's in a tough spot, Major League Soccer's in a tough spot because People are itching for soccer. And it's not that like, because I keep saying the World Cup is the pinnacle, and you're going to be disappointed no matter what, but there's still good soccer out there. This is I mean, this really is no different than like watching college soccer with all due respect, but this is not what people are trying to watch after the World Cup. Yeah, I mean I wish I had a solution or answers. I don't.

I we just don't we simply don't have the infrastructure in place to Get the best athletes for soccer. There's too many alternatives. There's too many avenues to be successful and make more money. I'm like, Dude, if you if you're average to decent, you know. American football player in high school, you can go get the bag at, you know, get a little NIL money.

You know, soccer has no chance. They can't compete with anybody on any level.

So, uh yeah, I I wish I had, you know, more than gloom and doom, but At least I support.

Somewhat. I go to the games. Bye-bye merch. I eat the food and drink the booze. Not much little old me can do.

And I got this jersey for 80% off.

So MLS doesn't even care. That looks good. Is that an alternate jersey or the keeper jersey or what? Oh, I don't know actually. The tag said United We Play.

So I don't know. Maybe it was like one of those marketing night things where it's like, hey, community night here at whatever the hell it is. But I'll do a quick Google. But no, I just got it because it was cheap as fuck. I'm decked out in my Packers shareholder shirt today.

That's a training jersey. Oh, that's a training kit? Yeah. Training pit all, yeah, of course. I didn't mean to do that.

I mean, how could I not know it was a kid? It's a pre-match jersey.

So it's, you know. Yeah. I try not to do the soccer, European, American. I try not to. But I did say kit there and I said it naturally.

Yeah. No, it's natural for you. For me, it's like whatever. But it's cool looking and it was cheap.

So I will take that. I think I don't like when people say pitch. I say fish because they say fish. Yeah, but but people are always like Well, down on the pitch. And they're always like looking around, like, I did it, right?

I did it down on the down on the pitch. Dunam Duna Me. I know I'm supposed to say pitch. Did I get that right? Did I land it right?

I think you did. The Packers shareholders meeting is today.

So why are you here? I was going to go to it. And I was just going to walk around like I did on opening day. This is also the first time it's rained in a month.

So there's like, I think they might try to move it inside. I've done the shareholders meeting one time. And I still think I'm at the point where. Is the juice worth the squeeze? I still think I'm at the point.

Where I can recycle old content. From my house. Instead of going and doing it again.

Now, an interesting angle I could have taken today is what would happen. Mike Florio was talking about all the Packers could. Change their ownership model one day. I don't foresee that ever happening. He riled people up about it, but I could have, you know, done that angle.

But then I'm in Green Bay. It's two and a half, two hours away. Coming down, it's raining.

So I just did, is the juice worth the squeeze? And then I wouldn't have been able to do the actual show. uh with you today So I could have given you the day off. I'm sorry that I didn't. But thanks for being here.

The shareholders thing also. Is One of these things that I'm glad I did. But I don't want to do it again. I Like when I did the Sunday Night Baseball, Zach Brown thing, where you can see my arm and the. I would never want to do that again.

Yeah. What's something else that I've done? That I wouldn't like, I never want to go on a roller coaster again. I don't like yeah, I'm tapped out of roller coasters. Like, you know, maybe if I have a kid, you know, and they want to do like the little baby ones, so I can like work them up to it.

then cool. But then once you graduate to a real roller coaster status. All right, go to your mother because she likes that shit. And she likes screams all the way up. And meanwhile, I'm like, shut the fuck up.

I'm trying to concentrate because I don't want to die. Savannah bananas. I'm glad I went. And got to experience it. But I never want to go again.

Okay, well cool. Yeah, I know that Wrigley just had a Savannah banana event. I heard it went moderately well.

So good for the banana still being relevant. They're one of those things where you just feel like something Like something's not right here. I don't know what it is. I mean, fans being able to contribute to their game by, you know. You know, getting a batter out, catching a foul ball.

That part actually was the most exciting part of the. Oh, yeah, no, because I would see knuckleheads knock each over a ball. I'm like, oh, I'm getting this guy out, Yoink. Yeah, that was the most exciting part. Of the whole thing.

All right, couple of housekeeping options. We are having a tailgate on the sixth for the Winklerverse. I had the Brewers reserve a bunch of seats. in right field We're not. Using all those seats.

There's plenty of good seats available. I just want to get an idea. of how much like brats to bring. And beers for people.

So I'm assuming based on who signed up. With our tickets, which is on my Twitter. I'm assuming based on who's signed up and based on who's told me they're going to already be at the game and don't need to sit by us. I'm assuming somewhere in the 40 to 50 range. that I'll need to feed.

If that's going to be more, I'm going to need to know that. The tickets that the Brewers have reserved for us. are done at the end of the day. They're pulling the link. Yeah, they're pulling the link at the end of the day, at the end of Monday, the 27th, midnight CT.

Actually, 11:59.59 p.m.

So if you're listening to this tomorrow, you're fucked. If you still want to sit near us. Then I would get in the 100 section in right field. With that with even without the link But the link will ensure a little cheaper rate. And then that you'll.

definitely be within the group. And then I'll know you're coming and then I can plan. for it. We'll have uh some raffles. We'll have some giveaways.

I should have koozies for the people.

So if that's not an incentive. Um Might Behalf of my family will be there.

Okay. Just all just half, though. All these great. Uh incentives. To be sure.

Uh Q is one of my faithful Winkler versus members, he wants to jump in, so we'll. See if he's able to do that. Also, the shop is up. That's on my Twitter as well, my link tree, my Facebook. My YouTube.

For sick. Winkler verse Merch. Sick Winkler verse. merch. I haven't checked in on the Cubbies in a while.

How are you guys doing? I also have not checked in on them. They. They lost yesterday to the Pirates, but they took the series. Shodoi Minaga had a pretty good outing against Paul Skeens.

Yeah, I'm on honestly, I'm not interested until the trade deadline wraps up next week because I don't think they're going to make a deal. And I'm sorry that I'm distracted as I'm looking down away from the stream for those of you who are watching. I'm currently looking to see if there are viable tickets to go to Milwaukee. even go to Chicago And then go to Milwaukee. There's no shot I'm coming.

These prices are insane.

So What's a flight from New York to Chicago next week?

Well, from New York, well, I have right now New York to Milwaukee. It's 409 bucks. Didn't it just used to be like 110? And that's how much that's what I thought Chicago would be.

So I'm like, okay, you know. I must have hit that by accident. But yeah, no, it used to be like 150, 200 bucks, even on peak season. Like it was a. You know, it wasn't that bad, but like.

$400. Let's look at Chicago again. I mean, I saw it was like $330. which is ridiculous. You know what the problem is with this, Carlos?

Is I always complain about the price of soda going up. I complain about the price of gas going up. Gas is going up. Yeah, exactly. We always complain about air travel going up.

But Would you know? That I think it was last Sunday. Not this last weekend, but the weekend before. Mm-hmm. was the most The most amount of domestic flights in America in one day.

Really?

So everyone's still flying. Yeah. Yes, just for comparison's sake, I'm looking at February to go to Chicago just for whatever. 227 bucks.

So I don't know why it's It's steadily climbing. But apparently next uh next week is the most expensive like flight to Milwaukee slash Chicago ever. We have never been. More Like What are people cutting back on? Alcohol.

Believe it or not, they're they're like The generation after me, a lot of them do not drink. I just read a thing today that they're actually drinking more than ever again. Really?

Because I saw the opposite. I guess it depends where you get your statistics from, but I know, like, Social events like alcohol clubbing and shit like that, that's down. Because I know a lot of people in that club and bar industry. Um, like the owners are like, here, we're fucking feeling it. Like.

People do not go out and just blow money like they used to. But then again, this is a very small section of the market. I don't know. Everywhere's packed every weekend around here. Don't know.

I mean, the video game industry is taking a shit. You know, there are, you know, successful franchises that are getting canned in terms of life services being stopped. Like, I play Destiny 2. Like, that's being that's what stopped. The last bit of content there.

Sony says they're taking a bath in that. You know, the movie theaters are apparently taking a shit. You know, like, I don't know where the money's going. I have no idea. But every econ every industry is crying poor.

So, the money's got to be going somewhere. It's going to Amazon. I think that's where it's going. It's going to Jeff Bezos. People love and we're all saving we all think we're saving on Prime.

We're not. That's what we think. I know where my money's going. Happyplacem.com, promo code BART. 25% off each and every order.

They're helping you keep the cost down. That code's been good for four years. Four years. 25% off the order at happyplacehent.com. Let me tell you what I've noticed.

I'm doing a little bit of a MCU rewatch. I Thought about doing it. I just, I can't. I'm just trying to see like. Details I missed or These relationships, now that I know what phase five and four look like.

Like what Avengers interacted with, who. Um and and all that kind of stuff. And what I've noticed is The more As I call it, hemped up. Or the more hemp juice that I drink. The more I'm like You know, if I just drink these seltzers.

I'm on the couch and I'm just watching T V. Yeah. I mean, this is great. And I'm not picking up my phone. And I'm not doing any of this.

Shit that Bart After Dark would do. But What I noticed so much more. When I am hemped up Is the a Ridiculous amount of green screen that Marvel uses that they don't even try to fucking hide. Yeah. like some of it Thor and Loki met Odin in a four in a in a It was like open fields on some mountain or something like that.

Yeah, it'd look awful. That whole Ragnarok movie is like. Just green screen.

So that I notice more. On my Hemp watch rewatch. Yeah. I saw something somewhere. I don't know if it was bullshit or not.

And maybe it might have been on Facebook that Avengers Endgame is going to come out with like. Like an extra nine minutes of footage, or something like that. And supposedly, it's supposed to, it has a mandatory rewatch. He's going to return the stones. Yeah.

Oh, that's what it is? That's the nine minutes?

Some of it. Did you see Ghost Rider got announced? No, I didn't. Really?

Oh, because right, they're all at Hall H, right? Is it Comic Commons? Say again. Ryan Gosling is ghostwriter. I'm not mad at that.

I'm not mad at it, to be honest. I thought that there would be a small snowball chance. They were going to do that white black panther. And he would have been the white Black Panther. Oh, no, Black Panther 3 also announced.

Oh, really?

Okay, I'm totally not fucking locked in.

So, all right. I do like Lorion Gosley move. I'm going to go ahead and just hit Marvel, more news. While you do that, I'm going to bring in another Marvel fan. This gentleman goes by the name of Q in the Winklerverse.

Carlos, I've talked to you. Q's called into the show before. What's up, Q? I called in. My friend used Carl's place in Franklin at a new construction house, and it's amazing.

It's like better than any. simulator I've seen in a bar even.

So Your friend used Carl's place. Yeah. I didn't get a referral from that. That's what I said. I was like, it's too bad.

I didn't know you were doing this.

So. But it like. The little squares that he has on his wall to like pad it. Carl's very good in the podcast. Instead of netting, there's like this cool padding that Carl has on the side, and it's effective, but it also looks cool.

So, and I don't know. I was really impressed that, and I will say the friend that did it. Is pretty frugal.

So I'm guessing he must have got a good deal from Carl.

So just that's the only reason I called in. But who it now that you're talking about Marvel, who is the new Black Panther? Are they sticking with Siri or Siri or whatever her name is? Yeah, Shirley's still Black Panther. It's uh It's David Johnson, is the actor's name.

He's going to be playing the adult son of T'Challa and Black Panther 3.

So I'm wondering how much of a time jump this is going to be. That this kid is.

Well, this is going to be after whatever happens in Secret Wars, which will probably be a ring root. Yeah. Probably.

So yeah, we got our new Black Panther, I guess. That's all I called in to say. Are you going to see Spidey this week? I don't. I'm heading to New York on Wednesday.

I don't think I can make it. There are plenty of movie theaters here that will show Spider-Man. I've got work stuff.

So I'm going to try and sneak it in, but. It's a busy time in the Q household.

So I gotta hop on a call. You should do these over at lunch more. This is great.

So normally try to. Yeah. Yeah. All right. See you guys.

Love you. Love you too. Q. Yeah, this is typically a noon central broadcast, but Over the summer, I've been skipping out or going earlier to watch World Cups. Yeah, we did have World Cup in the middle of the whole thing.

So it was us, World Cup, us World Cup. We went World Cup. One thing that I've not really talked about on any of these podcasts. Because it happened and this is the first one since I I last did a show. is the news that LeBron James is going to Philly.

Mm-hmm. He is going to join Jalen Brown. Joelle Mbi. For half a season. Tyrese Maxey.

VJ Edgecombe. To you, is this the Eastern Conference frontrunner? No, is it really mixed? Yeah, so as you can imagine, a lot of LeBron heavy content over the past weekend at my job. Westwood One Sports, which still currently at this point employs me.

We'll find out tomorrow, but I'm still here.

So, yeah, a lot of LeBron conversations.

So, the question was posed to me: Is it, you know, are the Sixers going to win a championship within the next two years because that's what he signed for? Although it would be hilarious if he opts out after next year. Until Until the season starts, and obviously, we get the games through. Like, I don't think I'll have a. I'm not confident to say that the 76ers are going to win a championship with this roster pleasantly constructed because this same time last year.

We were proclaiming that the Oklahoma City Thunder were going to go on a dynastic run like no other because they're all incredibly young. They're all incredibly good. You know, they have a boatload of picks. And then they get knocked off in the Spurs a year later.

So, like, I know this is gonna be like a lazy answer and people are gonna you know hate it, but like I don't. I'm going to take the field. I'm not taking the 76ers because on paper, None of this stuff means anything. Again, we thought the Thunder were going to win the second straight, going on the third straight, looking like the Dodgers of the NBA, and then they wind up fucking losing.

So, right now, I still would put the Knicks. ahead of the 76ers. Because the Eastern Conference, I think, as a whole, has taken a step back. You know, Detroit's not going to be as good as they were last year. Boston's not going to be as good as they were last year.

Orlando, I think, is taking a step back. Atlanta might be a little up and coming, but there are more Teetons that I think are going to move back into the pack than go up.

So I still think it's in the Knicks because if they have that cohesive sniff, they've just won a championship. But then it's the 76ers right after them. And it might essentially be a two-team race.

So for that reason alone, I'm just going to go with the field. as opposed to the 76ers winning the championship in the next two years.

Okay. I want to shout out Buckshot. He's looking for a hoodie with Winklerverse on the front. I will make one. I'll make one.

I have it on the back. And put at Bobby at the back. I'll make it on the front. I'll get that posted within the hour. Um Yeah, I'll bring in Hot Take Jake here too.

Hot take Jake's called into the show. Jake, Carlos, Carlos, Jake. Aloha. Yeah. Is the report true that LeBron's gonna live in New York and commute?

You so he actually got a place in New Jersey?

So it's the happy medium ground. He'll probably just helicopter over to practice and games. But who the fuck wants to live in Philadelphia? It has to be extra with him. Everything has to be extra and stupid.

Mm-hmm. Yeah, why can't you just Live in Philly. And here's the other thing. He has to live somewhere else, but he also needs you to know that he's living somewhere else for some reason. Why is that information that's available?

Well, 'cause it has to be. It's LeBron. I don't know. I do think they're going to be good. I just, I don't know how much they're going to.

Play Joel Embiid is going to be the entire thing. I mean, Nick Nurse's only job is to wrap these guys in bubble wrap and get them to the playoffs. Like, Embiid, whatever his. His total is in terms of game played this season hammer to under. It's always going to be under.

I wouldn't be surprised if MB plays 25, 30 games in the regular season just to prep for the postseason. Apparently, him and Bron talked about it, and he assured. He assured Bron, I'm playing. Listen, he still needs to lose more weight, but I think the Sixers go as far as Embiid's health is going to go. LeBron is not the first option there.

Dude, he might be the fourth option there. You know, they got a couple of great guards in Maxie and Edgecombe, and obviously with Jalen Brown now there, like. I think they're going to be fine. It's first world problems. But it's totally a, it's in bead.

All the way, I think he'll be the catalyst to how far the 76ers is going to go. And unfortunately, that's how it's been for Philadelphia fans the last couple of years, anyway. Can I uh announce something about my merch store as well? If I may. I I put on there So the price is on there.

are like the lowest possible that I could make them. Yeah, I was going to tell you, Bart, you need to raise your prices. Like, you got to make money on this stuff, but I know you're trying to do the diplomatic and the nice guy thing, but like, people want to support you. They want you to, like, they want to share. I just made it, I just saw there was an order that came in.

And it's free shipping over 75 bucks.

So, someone just made an order, and I just lost $5.16. What? Don't yeah. Buddy. Just raise the price, raise everything by at least five bucks, and it's still going to sell.

I'll raise it to like, I'll raise it all two bucks. I think you got some more leeway there. You're underestimating the loyalty of your base.

Okay, how about this? How about this? The prices, these are introductory prices that are good through the tailgate. There you go. After the tailgate.

It all pumps up.

So either you get down on the ground floor. Or you got to wait for the new apartments to open up. I had an idea. You have to tell gate, Jake. I will be there, yes.

I haven't bought tickets yet, but I will be there. All right. I do have an idea. I want Winkler vs. jerseys.

Like, imagine having a Winkler vs. Carlos Ortiz jersey or a Tim Shea jersey. Or a bar winkler. Like that would be amazing. Yeah.

Okay, I can look into that. There's a lot of options here. That's dope. I just make sure it's sleeveless for me because, you know, again, the guns are coming out. Little by little?

Absolutely.

Well what else is on your mind, Jake?

Well, I wanted to talk about the LeBron thing because it's like it is so on brand for him to pick. But like The one option that was lame and just further cements his douchebag legacy of like being a mercenary and like just doing the thing that he shouldn't, like, um. I wanted Cleveland or Golden State because I think both of those options, it would have been fun to root for him for the first time since the first Cavs run because it's like it would have been, you know, this little niche, like kind of cute story about like the old guys trying to like take their one last stand. Like if it was Golden State, it would have been like a Western, you know, like the old Cowboys taking their one last stand. And if it was Cleveland, you know, it's like a real life Rocky movie.

Can he join this team and like, you know, in his last fight, just try to take it out? But it's like, no, go be the fourth option on a team that kind of was okay last year. Like, are they going to take a next step? But. I don't know.

It's lame, and that's just on brand for LeBron. He's just lame. No disagreements. And I mean, yes, there's a chance they could win the East. I mean, it's it's a miracle shot.

Like you're you and be has to be healthy. Basically, all of those guys have to be healthy.

So that's close to zero percent chance of that happening. But it is a chance. But I do think even if they win the East, New York got very lucky this year to get Wemby before he's in his final form. It's going to be OKC or San Antonio next year. I think it's the East doesn't really stand a shot.

What do you think with the over-under for the Bucs at 24.5? I feel like that's a no-brainer over. That Oh But then, if you look at the east now, To me, if I had to if you just asked me, I would say like 25 to 28 wins.

So it's not a no-brainer to me. I think it's close. Um but I do think it's more likely that like We get a top three pick and give it over to. New Orleans. Then it is that we make the playoffs.

Personally. Pistons, Celtics, Knicks, Cavs, Raptors. Sixers Yeah. They're all making the playoffs. Magic.

Spacers. Pacers, yep, they'll be back. Pacers are trying. Everyone's trying except for I guess the nets. Yeah, I don't want to say it's going to be a bloodbath because it's not like most of those teams are juggernauts, but like everybody's just going to kind of take away from each other.

So they're all going to each other because everybody's in the same pack. You know, maybe they get lucky and go on a little run towards the end of the season to get that win total more respectable, but. I think it's going to be rough and um Yeah, I'm not hinging my hopes on Peyton Watson. I think Bucks fans are getting a little too excited about that possibility. Is that even a possibility?

I just feel like that's another classic Bucks. Pipe dream. I mean, I think they're really seriously considering it. But, like, I think people need to get this idea out of their head that he's going to be this franchise player that you're plucking away because you're in the right position. He's probably a little bit of an upgrade over Jaime Haquez Jr., but like, I'm not willing to put picks.

To get that slight upgrade, you know, if we're if we're putting him in the deal, and you know, but so yeah, I don't know. It's let's just pump the brakes on that a little bit. It'd be nice to get him if you can get him for next to nothing. Like, you know, maybe it's AJ Green and Kevin Porter Jr., maybe Jake isn't there, but I'm not giving up any of the guys we got in the Giannis deal other than Jakez, and I'm not giving up a single pick for him. Do you want to keep hero?

God, no. No. You want to talk about if you had a list of guys that are unrootable, you know, you like, there's nothing about this guy that's redeeming. There's nothing likable about the guy from his shitty tattoos to his stupid face. To his wannabe presence on the court, to his cultural appropriation, just like.

Oh, he's from Milwaukee. Cool. Like, there's plenty of people in Milwaukee that I'd love to kick in the nuts right now. That doesn't do anything for me. Yeah, you want to name any?

I'd love to name some, but this is your show, and I don't want to bring that negativity. I know, Bart, you're trying to turn over a new leaf. I really liked your last episode. The episode previous, it was really interesting. What was the gentleman's name that you interviewed?

Trevor Thomas. Bart, it was crazy because, like, And I think someone else alluded to this. You could kind of feel. Bart was changing during that episode, like his viewpoint. And it was like, it was kind of cool.

It's like, yes, we all love the podcast, but we also get this little inside peek of like, The maturation of Bart Winkler, it's or how Bart Winkler got his groove back. And I think we're watching it in real time. Um This has been a hard year for me. Yeah. And I'm ready for that to be over.

Yeah. I feel you. But I do want to say, you know. You got to do what you got to do. But Don't change.

too much about you, if anything, because And I'm not saying this to glaze. There's a reason I haven't listened to Sports Radio Milwaukee since the fan went under. Your content is so fucking good. Like it's it's there's no comparison and It's what I want to listen to because it's conversational. It is not, you know, oh, let's shout at each other.

You take this take, I take this take. Like, it's very easy to listen to. And the other characters you have involved, Carlos, Grant, Paul, it's such a great cast and crew. Like, I don't know. To me, the cream rises to the top.

I hope you stick it out, buddy, because you deserve it. This show fucking rules. And on that note, no, you rule. I will, Costanza, my way out of here. Carlos, great to meet you.

Love you, buddy. Likewise, man. Take it easy, Jake. Hattake Jake. Very nice.

Not too many hot takes there, though. I kind of agree with what he's putting down there. Hot take Jake just told me that he was shopping somewhere. And he got recognized as hot take Jake. At, like, where was that?

Where was he? He was out at. Fuck, he texted me, but I forgot. Shit. Oh, he was out somewhere and someone said, uh They send what's up.

That's great. I mean, that's the the whole point of the oh a universe, you know? Characters get created. And then when people see Q in public. they start uh hiding their children and coming up with an exit plan.

Yeah. That's what happens. W with him.

So we're all talking about Peyton Watson here in Bucksland. We're also talking about Tarek's Scoobel in Brewer's Land. No shot. Which feels impossible. No shot.

It feels less impossible than normal. But it still feels impossible. Yeah, I mean, because there's a need, you know, I mean, had a couple of injuries, you know, Woodruff gone for the rest of the year, Priest is never coming back. Um, you know, I can understand why, you know, as a Brewers fan, you would You would like to see that happen, but. I think we're all going to get our worst fears realized.

Where Scoobel's going to land on the Dodgers. The Dodgers, with all the talent that they have at the major league level, they actually have a fucking pretty good farm system. That is attractive to a lot of people and it should be attractive to the Tigers. Uh it if they have to trade Scoobel, there's no shot. It's going to turn into a situation where it's like.

Oh, Tanya, you just keep him and he leaves her nothing. Do not do that to your franchise. Trade Scoobel. And unfortunately, the Dodgers probably have the most to offer. Yankees might be in the mix, but I don't think ownership and Cashman has.

the the stomach. To kind of overpay and get school.

So that would probably have to give up like a Elmer Rodriguez, a Spencer Jones, you know, or a Lombard.

So I don't think Yankees will pull the trigger. The Dodgers absolutely will.

So I mean I'm not saying this as a Cubs fans brewers hater. I don't think you guys can get Scoobyl. I see the need. I just think the Dodgers are going to wind up doing it and everyone's just going to get pissed off and say fuck baseball at the end of the year. Do you think As an owner.

Because I'm trying to wonder if the Tigers' ownership. Mm-hmm. would prefer To trade them to Milwaukee, a small market, instead of the Dodgers, a big market. I don't think you care. Do the if the owners have to be pulled and they're like.

If it's not your team that wins the World Series. Would you rather have Milwaukee or would you rather have the Dodgers? I wonder what the straw poll result on that is because you I you can't just assume That every owner wants the smaller market team. They might want the bigger market team. What do these owners want?

They want a salary cap. They want a salary cap because then they can get away with play. They're not the salaries aren't going to be as much.

Well, I don't think those small market teams want a salary cap because they're not spending anywhere near that anyway. Salary floors worry some of the small market teams more than a salary cap. But I don't think the small market teams want a salary floor because then they have to pay up on what they're paying. Right, right. That's what I'm saying.

Like, I so I don't think they care necessarily about like the small market teams care about a cap because again, they're not spending anywhere near that money.

So, like, all right, we have a cap. Cool. Well, we're going to just spend 45, 60% of that anyway.

So we're fine. I think the salary floor. Is a contention for a lot of the small market teams. The big market teams absolutely want a cap. They're sick of like, you know, overpaying.

I think the big thing is just. There's almost I think the d you know I think the Dodgers win. Again, the sentiment from fans will be. We want a salary cap. And that's not the problem, though.

The problem is the doctors aren't, it's not them spending the money, it's where that money is being allocated. Like, you're getting these players on afterpay. Like, all right, you want to spend the money, cool, and go get everybody. But there's no reason that Shohei Otani should be making $2 million for the next couple of years until his contract is essentially over. Or rather, he's off the team, and then that 680 million dollars got if you want to get everybody.

Foot the bill now. Because the way that they're working in terms of like investment firms and like they're basically sending money out into the universe and they're going to make more money on this.

So they're not actually really paying. Otani to 680 million dollars with money that they uh what they have now they're gonna they're earning interest on crazy deals so it's like they don't want to actually even feel the impact of the contract after otani plays like that's the bullshit of it you know Not the fact that they have the money, is that they have the money and they're not. They're not spending money. They're not spending money until later. Like that deferred contract shit needs to go.

I think that The problem I have with this is You would like, especially as a brewers fan or a small market fan. the league to feel more competitive. Or for like the Brewers, I think, are doing a good job of being competitive in the creating of this league. But you're still always going to run into The Dodgers, or another team that is able to have the type of pitching that they had last year and shut you down in a series.

So you can go to war with the Cubs, but then you're going to run into three of the best and most highly paid pitchers in the league. Because you just can't afford it, and that will get you there.

Now, obviously, you could spend a lot of money and it not work out as the Mets are doing this season.

So, buying a championship isn't a guarantee. We all know that. But where my issue is. And what I tried to talk about when I had the opportunity. was The owners They They want what we want.

We want a salary cap so that baseball is on a more level playing field. And the Dodgers are the team that are being vilified for that. Yeah. They want a salary cap. Because They don't want to pay as much money to the players as they are paying.

So They want the team that they have at $450 million. They want that same team, but they want a cap so that they can only have to pay out $320 million, let's say.

Okay, so if you have the same team and it's $130 million less, where's that money go? Oh, that goes right to the owners. It's not a profitability cap. Is what I would say. They're not.

They're not, they are, they're not taking, you have rich people. When rich people take the position of the poor, as I would say, It's not for the same intent. Correct. Yeah. Rich people never take a position.

That's going to cost them money.

So if you're on the same side of the owners, You need to ask yourself why. You got to figure out why that is. And the fact that we want the same end result, but different roads to get there. I think the owners are going to exploit that. And I think there's a lot of fans that are even going to know that and say, yeah, I still don't care.

I'm going to take the side of the owners because it's what's best for my fan interest. Exactly. And the players are getting screwed. Yeah, no, 1000%. I mean, I mean, he said it perfectly.

The reason why the fans want the salary cap is, you know, they it feels like the same six, seven teams are in the mix every single year, and more teams are completely eliminated by the time we get to June. You know, nobody thinks the Rockies are ever going to be any good. The Pirates are good in spite of their ownership. Like, they got this young pitching staff that I think is sneakily a top three in baseball if they're all healthy, but they're not going to spend any money.

So, like, there are so many markets, and that's why baseball still feels regional and not much of a national sport. Because, like, all right, if you're a if you're a Royals fan. You're not checking in. You're not locked into the season. And if your team sucks, I'm like, all right, you're not going to start watching the Cardinals or somebody else because your guys are out of it.

So, you want the same thing as the owners do, but the owners are just they want an earnings cap. You know, that's all they want. They did, they just have no problem with the amount of money that's being spent and the amount of money that's coming in. They just got a problem with the size of the pie. You know, like, I got to give the players more than me.

No, screw that. I want more money. I own this team.

So. Yeah, ultimately, I think it's still going to be a I think we're going to get a work stoppage because not all the owners want the same thing. It's a war against the haves, the have-nots when it comes to ownership, and then it's the war against the players' association.

So I mean, I I think fans are ultimately going to be one foot in the bill anyway, but. This this works optage. I think This is going to rival uh 94. I don't, I believe that we're going to miss games next year easily, maybe this season. I think we get like a I think like August 15th.

We get a I think we're not having baseball for much of the summer. I don't remember having it at all, to be honest. And then to salvage the season.

Sometime in August, they're going to do a Round Robin fucking tournament with the divisions.

So you'll play like 20 games. And then they'll see the first team from each division plus one. to two to three wild and then they'll do the playoffs. But I think we're going to see something very truncated. I mean, we saw it a couple of years ago.

I think they just might run the COVID thing back. They might just do it again. Yeah, I think 60 is still too much. I mean, anything under 162 games, they should shorten that season. I think 154 is a magic number.

But that being said, anything short of that, people are just going to be like, okay, it's a Mickey Mouse title. Like, I don't think anybody puts any onus on the Dodgers' first championship. Like, whatever. It's a bubble title. But I'm actually less optimistic than you.

I don't think we're getting baseball. They are so far apart. They're not going to be talking before the CBA is up at the end of the year. And like What's the motivation for either side to give in? Players Association don't want a salary cap.

The owners want a salary cap. There's no middle ground. And then this is going to be talked about. extensively every day. 1000%.

And it's going to be a bummer.

So you got to enjoy what you have while you have it. Case in point, Jacob Mizarowski. Did you see the stats on this man yesterday? Struck out the first seven batters, Brewers' record. Before yesterday, no pitcher in recorded baseball history.

had thrown more Then 14 pitches at 103 miles an hour plus in one big league game. Miz threw 30. Pitches at 130 miles an hour plus in the first four innings. Yesterday. And I did see somebody, I forget who, but somebody was like.

Now with Giannis gone. Is Ms Wisconsin's next guy to latch on to? He wins a Cy Young, yeah. It probably is. Yeah, but This guy is consistently throwing 104 miles an hour like I'm not assuming an eight to nine year healthy career here.

Oh, no, no, no. This will be a short run. I mean, God, if he's playing like this for the next eight to 10 years, just kill me now. I'll jump ship and I'll become a Brewers fan. I think.

I think you're going to get a really. Really good. Five to six, seven years out of them. Like at this level. I mean, this kid is absolutely special, man.

I hated last year when he got the nod for the all-star game after all five games. That's all watered under the bridge now, man. He absolutely deserves it. And he'll probably be your Cy Young and good because you know what Giannis left you guys high and dry. You should have a new local hero.

I just hope he gets lit up lit up every time he plays the Cubs. A couple of shitheads to talk about to end the show today, but besides you, what are you talking about, LeBron? Huge.

So are more people, there's a 30 for 30 coming out. Or, at least, the podcast, where they're exploring more about what Shohei Otani was up to. And there's one lady who tracked down that a bank account was being used, and it was Shohaze. And then there was audio today released of like, The translator pretending to be Shohei. Yeah.

The whole story of Shohei Otani. Stinks to high heaven. We're all pretty sure gun to head. That Shohei's translator fell on the grenade for Shohei. Absolutely.

The thing that worries me a little is I feel like in the aftermath. Shohei is still He's still smiling and stuff. He's still, I feel like he wouldn't. I feel like we'd be able to see the guilt on him. Yeah, he's not tipping his hand.

But he never talks, so that helps, even though he knows English. Right, but he acts like he doesn't. But he does like you guys. That's a great comment. I I We think he's We don't think he's 100% innocent.

I'm more confident that he is guilty than he is innocent.

So then what if he is guilty? Nothing's going to happen. Honestly, they can come out and say, hey, he did it.

Next week. And nothing is going to happen. Major League Baseball is not going to touch, so is Johe Otani. He is their absolute big golden goose. Nothing will happen to him.

But it would have to. But it's not. They're they're not gonna allow anything to touch Otani. You can't do 45 years of blackballing Pete Rose and then give Otani a free pass just because he's captured an Asian market. They want that Asian market badly though, man.

They want it. Japan is right there too. I mean, you know, Japan, you know, that's their golden coast, even though he plays for on this side, man. There's too many people in that kitchen, man. There's too many people under that bed sheet.

And they're just going to let Oltani get away. Are you telling me? That If Pete Rose's name was Pedro Rosales. And he was from the Dominican Republic? The baseball gods would say, no, we need that market.

He's free. No, no, if his name was, I don't know what the Japanese version of Pete Rose is going to be.

Well, it's Shohei Otani right now. Right now, it's just Shohei Otani.

So, no disrespect to DR, but DR is a pretty impoverished country. And baseball doesn't give a shit. They'll take your players, but you're not spending money here. Japan spends. But Brazil or I don't know, somewhere bigger.

Ah, you know what? Yeah. I'm sorry, if if Shohei was anything other than Japanese. I can see that they they would come down on him. But yeah, no, Japan, that's that golden market, man.

That's that golden goose. He could walk into a sports book today and put a new fucking bet. And they'll put it on social. Show hey doing so hey things. Show him the money.

hashtag, you know, they'll lean into it because it's Johe Otani. Yeah, so what percent do you think he is guilty? Sixty-eight percent. I think he did that shit. He did that shit.

So there's a one in three chance he did it. Yeah. I would be more surprised that he didn't do it. Then did do it. I just don't want to go all in and say 99% and all that, because that's not fair.

You know, it's not fair to him. Then I'm basically casting dispersions and all that. I think he did it. But this so-called investigation netted the interpreter going to jail.

So I'm just going to temper my and put a salary cap on my percentages and say, hey, 68% show hey did it. I still feel like it's more likely there's a cover-up than not. I'll say like 55%. Sure. It's just a little too convenient.

That he had wrapped up in a nice bowl. They're like, that's the guy right there. Nothing else to see here, folks. We're going to make sure that this interpreter never gets to work in baseball again. We'll put him away.

How dare he, you know. Do that to the great show here, Tani. The trusting Chris Carter said, always have a fall guy. All right. Yep.

But Shohei, like the thing with Shohei, is if anyone else gets busted for gambling. And they're like, no, it was my whatever. It was my chef. It was my personal trainer. It was my...

You're like, okay, that's suspicious. But the translator was already somewhat public-facing. Yes. There was a guy whose face we did know that you could attach this to. And so it was easier.

It was just. It was just very clean. Yeah. It's he was a plant. Like, you know, he w he he was a plant.

Like. Because there are tons of guys in baseball that don't speak English or at least don't speak it well. There are so many interpreters, but we knew who Ipe was by name already. When all that stuff started going down.

So, yeah, I'm with you. It's. It's it's a cons i don't even want to say conspiracy because I just think it was a It was an organized effort. to make sure that this did not land on Shoe Otani. Then I got to show you one more thing.

You'll see this on the Dan Shaney YouTube stream, or I believe you'll be able to hear it. Um I'll give him a bell. Look at this fucking guy. I'm gonna do my best here. Mike Vrabel.

Oh my God. He brought a dog. What he's trying to do to Kirk Herbstreak. He's like, hey, look, everybody, I have a dog. Look how relatable.

Something that we did last year. I also cheat on my wife. was the part trades program uh that dana craft So he brought he brought a dog up to the podium. And there's a tweet here from Glenn Naughton. JN Radio Glenn, he writes for JetNation.com.

Oh, this is great already. I definitely do. It would be better if Vrabel just came out and said, look. We all know what I did. I'm a horrible husband and father.

But I'm not going anywhere or answering questions. I'm just going to do football. That would be a lot more respectable. Then this fucking charade. Yeah.

Yeah, because you're using the puppy as a meat shield, man. Like, man up. Also, I'm not too mad at him. Roussini's a smoke. And other people do worse for less.

I don't condone it. Listen, that's between him, God, and his family, but. The fact that she got absolutely dragged. And he's Essentially, getting not even a slap on a wrist. They're like, oh, nothing you see here.

It's because his owner got jerked off. I think I think if Ver if Rabel was the coach for the Cardinals. I don't think Vrabel keeps his job.

Well, because he's Bob Kraft's head coach. Everything's okay. Robert says my dad cheated on my mom and we did get a dog that same year. I'll tell you right now, the earnings house, the earnings cap for Mrs. Vrabel.

That had been lifted significantly. She is bawling out the last. They were at Taylor Smith's wedding. Why? Just like who's who.

They're like, hey, everybody, come. Everybody. I don't trust what's up with that either. No, listen, I don't give a shit about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey. If we're going to be looking into anybody, let's look into Michael Rubin and how he keeps buying friends and has weird parties in the Hamptons.

Like that, I'd rather get a 30 for 30 on that. Than Taylor. Yeah, that's another guy. You can just look at him and know: like, something ain't right here.

Something is not right there. Although, I do want to be invited to those parties because that means I made it.

So My friendship is certainly for sale. I'd be down for one of those foam parties with that little. girl or the girl in that red bikini that everyone loves. I don't know it, but I will go ahead and Google right after the stream. He's made a funny face and everyone's like.

Internet goon of the week. Listen, I'll go to a phone party with Diana Rossini. I got no shame in that. There was a phone party. When my wife and I stayed at a resort, but we skipped out on that one.

I would think you, that's not something you do if you're a significant other. Who knows? You do you do it Yeah, you don't pair up at those things. No, no, no.

You just you hope your significant other doesn't go to that at all. And it says you. No, I won't be doing that after this. I need to wait until bedtime. Not doing a variable?

All right, great to be with you. Again, last call on the tailgate tickets. Do it now. If you're listening to me say this, and it's Tuesday. It's too late for you.

The hoodie should be up, Bobby. Message me. If you want something different. Yeah, yeah. And uh Support your local soccer team.

I'm working on a lot of the I'm working on a lot of the admin from the Bart Winkler experience this weekend. That's what I've been up to. Go the admin. I uh I cannot wait for my uh bar winkler Winkle reverse muscle tancture. And remember, if you're one of the first.

Two three four five five Six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven. If you're one of the first 12 people at the tailgate. You get $20 voucher to Potawatomi. Uh I'm not eligible, so don't worry about it, everybody. Andor $5 off a purchase of 10 or more at the team store.

And in the second inning, it's going to say Winklerverse on the Jumbo Trump. Is it really? Oh, yeah. Board. That's cool.

We really made it. Oh. All right. Thanks for stopping into the Winkler Verse. We'll talk to you next time.

Thanks, Carlos. Ciao. Uh
