Good afternoon, everybody. Welcome into the Winklerverse. I'm Bart Winkler. We're going to talk, Giannis. We're going to talk World Cup.
We're going to talk. New Badger uniforms. It's Tim Shea, ladies and gentlemen. Tim Shea. It's been a while, Bart.
How are you doing? How are you doing, Love Muffin? Oh, I'm good. I'm good. I'm, you know, I've been watching a little bit of soccer, a little bit of baseball.
Getting ready for football.
So. Brewers are kicking the Cardinals' ass. Yeah, yeah. It's been enjoyable. That double header was nice.
Bullpen not being as used as much as I thought. Just keep it rolling into Pittsburgh. I'm surprised all these guys are up. I mean, they paid them, so you might as well bring them up, but I'm surprised they're all. Up already.
I was shocked when they called up Lara, but it makes me happy.
Some people, I got a buddy who thinks they're showcasing him for the. trade deadline.
So They're not doing that. No, they're not doing that. Right? They're keeping them. Thank you.
Nobody showcases anybody. That's such bullshit. Thank you. Yeah, you're welcome. I don't like these Badger jerseys.
So for people that. This is Zach Calfern's tweet. You're Thursday.
Well, okay, so what's happening is when they play at Lambeau against Notre Dame. Notre Dame's got a different jersey. They're going chrome. With the numbers, and they're going a darker blue, all blue. And then we're matching with all red.
With stripes on the side and a red helmet. And I know a lot of people want the Badgers to wear a red helmet more. And they like that. This looks like Indiana. This looks like Rutgers.
My brother said it looks like UNLV. It looks like UNLV.
So I got two things. I got two. And again, I don't want to be. Full-time uniform complaint guy. And I'm not.
I love the United States men's striped soccer jerseys. I don't think we should keep those forever. Nike's going to. Mm. Fuck that up every two years and give a shit.
Other countries have classic jerseys. We should have a classic jersey. It should be it.
So I don't hate every jersey that exists. But yes, I still hate Wiscoe. And I just don't like these. And I don't like also, Tim. That we're playing a game at Lambeau Field.
Which is supposed to be this cathedral of sports.
So why have these Dime store jerseys. What's the point? I'll give you a little background of the jersey.
So, Notre Dame does this. Shamrock series every year. I'm aware.
So the other team also participates in it. They don't have to, but... Pretty much every team that they played when they started the series, they join in in the fun. They're both, I believe, under armor, correct? Because they kind of look a little similar, kind of don't, you know, as in style.
So The Badgers wanted to join in. There's not much you can do when you think Wisconsin Badgers, unless they, you know, go they can't go dark because they wanted to wear these, obviously, for the game.
So you can't match Notre Dame. You know, in a darker uniform. I want, I always have, I've wanted them to go with a black and red. kind of style when they do change these uniforms up every year.
So Aye. Honestly, I love these ones. It's finally, finally, something different than just traditional red and white. You know, you got the silver. What is that chrome even?
Some people what is that stupid? I like it. I honestly understand that it cannot be. But I alternative jerseys in college give me the heebie jeebies a little bit. What do you want them to do?
Like, did you want them to come out in like green and cold since they're playing in Lambo? No, I want them to wear their red and white. It's boring. Boring. I want them to wear the white jerseys and Notre Dame wears their normal dark jerseys.
Well, it's. A little different. Come on. I don't like when Duke wears all black. I don't like when.
Part, it's one game. It's one game.
Now, they could throw these, you know, wear these out if they have another Big Ten Saturday night game down the road. They could, you know, shell these out at home, but. There's another cynical part of me that's like. What's the point of having, like, what's the point of making a big deal about this game? With these new jerseys, if you're just going to get your ass kicked by four touchdowns anyway.
Money, money, money. But who's buying this shit?
Someone will, people will. Are they going to force it on us like Wisco? The biggest gripe that I have about Wisco here in the middle of summer now. Like if they're gonna wear the jerseys, fine. It is what it is.
But making people Wear the jersey for the first pitch really pisses me off.
Okay. Yeah. Uh We haven't talked about it yet. I did buy one of those Abisco shirts. Don't yell at me.
They are. When I wear it, the brewers are 4-0, too. Are you going to wear it to the tailgate? Could I wear it? Yes.
Oh, god, yeah. I might bring like a change of clothes with me. Can't wait for that. Should I wear the Wisco shirt to that Badger Notre Dame game? No.
That's the reverse galaxy brain. That's like no brain. That's like monkey bashing symbols in your brain. Just wait till I buy one of these new red jerseys for that game then. No one's gonna buy that shit.
Okay. It's just I don't know. I don't know the Wisconsin football fucking fan market like I knew like I know the Brewers fan market, I guess. I have one of those whisko shirts too. My friend bought me one.
Should I wear it to the tailgate? Yes. You wanna is it the salmon color one? Or blue. Blue.
Okay. It's a yellish one. And he probably won't even be there for that game, so I'm not going to be there for that game. He might not be yelling. Why wouldn't he be there?
He's the Christian Pulisic of Brewers Baseball. He he's been fine. Palistic just did the classic. Oh, my injury's worse than you thought thing.
Well at least he played through it. That's the most. At least he didn't diagnose his own injury like Giannis at one time when he faked it. We'll have some Giannis coming up. Hello, Mr.
Trump. Can you get the brewer game change score changed from yesterday? Oh, thank you.
Okay. Sorry. That's not what he did. Had to take that. Yes, he did.
Don't make me defend this. Mr. Trump. Can we please be 10 games ahead of the Cubs? Thank you.
No, 'cause he's he's buddies with P-Reckets.
Sorry, I've been waiting to do that for a couple of days to you. Mark, do you know the guy? Anastachio. Hey, Marca, Mark, Mark, Marca, anyway, yeah, great. That's my Joe Biden.
Yeah. So, yeah, so my shakeaway for the day, I love your shakeaway? Shakeaway. You got my shakeaway music? Yeah.
Come on. Um You had plenty of time to get this music ready. I know. I got it.
Alright, alright. What are your three shakeaways about anything?
Well, my one, two, and three shakeaways are. I love, love these badgered uniforms. I wish they changed. to them for the entire home season. Should I spend more time caring about this new AD?
He's from Texas. He wants to bring the swagger. I caught some of Zabe this morning. Yeah, what was he talking about? And he's like...
I'm just not doing AD radio and I'm like Fuck yeah, Steve. On 1250. Were you listening on 1250 of the game? I'm wa I was. Ugh, I love it.
Because I'll tell you who is doing. AD radio is the afternoon show. They'll probably go bonus coverage for fucking. A new AD in town. There you go.
Hey, we got a new three-star prospect. Make sure you update the website. Uh let's go to a brewery in before the tailgate.
Okay, we might get Skeens and Miz on Sunday, but that's not here, is it? No, that's in Pittsburgh. When they come home, they got the Marlins, and then I think they have the Mets. Last time we went to a Mets game, they walked off. Remember that?
Well yeah, I wanted to do the tailgate this Saturday, but it was too expensive. During the week is fine. All right. Tailgate's August 6th. Make sure you sign up.
My link. is on my Twitter. Thanks for the shakeaways, Tim. Not a problem. See you next time.
Go Badgers. Thanks for helping me on the farm, too. That was a big help. Yeah, anytime.

Okay, let's talk some Bucks basketball here on Into the Winklerverse, where, as always, we are brought to you by Happy Place Hemp. Promo code is Bart 25% off, happyplacehemp.com. When you go to the website, 25% off, put in the promo code. You can also stop in, see the guys, see how it's done, ask the questions. Chris and Rob are there on College Court in Muskego across from Maddie's.
which is actually in New Berlin. It's just that It's just right on the city limits. There, so you can check them out. And since I'm throwing information at you, remember to sign up for the tailgate as we've discussed coming up on August. Six.
Um Bucks Summer League. Continues with the heat. On Friday, you're not going to see Tyler Hero. Versiana Sedetta Cumpo. You're not going to see any of that kind of stuff.
The Bucks continuing to make moves, though, in this process. They're part of a six-team deal, which will bring them Karis Laverte. and two second round picks via Detroit. The Bucs are sending Gary Harris and Torian Prince. to Detroit.
Six teams involved in this: Dallas, the Clippers. Pistons, the box. The Wizards, who get Chris Middleton back on a sign and trade, and then the Memphis Grizzlies. Get a lot of pieces here as well, including former Bucs first-round pick A.J. Johnson.
There was a slight discrepancy for a minute. We thought we might be getting him back, but we are not.
So the Bucs depth chart. This is not again the depth chart you'll see in summer league. You'll see the rookies now that they're signed. Ament and Burries have signed, but the Bucks Summer League depth chart. I'm just pulling something up here from ESPN.
They've got listed our starting five. As Ryan Rollins. Tyler Hero. Jaime Jaquez Jr. Kyle Kuzma and Miles Turner.
Yeah. So I guess Turner's not getting moved. I guess hero's not.
So Rollins, Hero, Jake, Kuzmut, and Turner. I don't know. They could be worse. Kevin Porter Jr., Brandon Burries, Usman Zhang, Nate Ament, and Kalel Ware. Are the guys on the second unit?
We can also choose from Levert and Yakukonis. And Sims And AJ Green's got to fit in there somewhere. They've got him listed on the fifth team behind a lot of these guys.
So I don't know. Um Where he would fit. I don't know what the starters are going to look like. Bubble Yub Markovic finds his name on the depth chart. At center, fifth string center.
I I don't know. It's just these depth charts that ESPN has right now. are a very rough outline, but they have been. Adding players.
Some of these other depth charts you find, they don't add anybody. until later on.
So it's really hard to figure that out but that's what they have for you at this point Is that starting five again of Rollins, Hero, Jake, Kuzma? and Turner. We're too far We need to see what it looks like, maybe for two weeks, two months. Before any of us can start thinking playoff team or not. I just want to see what it looks like.
So this is a year where expectations are gone. Even before the title. You know, I guess you would hope. What do you hope for this year? A title again?
But before that, it was. 41 wins, or make the playoffs, or 50 wins. There was the year that, you know, we were really excited. This is going to be the year we win 50 games, and I believe they did. I don't think that we can do anything of the sort.
until we see how these guys play together now a lot of them have played together from the heat But I don't think we can do anything of the sort until we see these guys. play together with meaningful regular season minutes. I also wanted to just touch on and maybe wrap up some of the stuff that Giannis had said in his interview with Jim Pashke that was posted on Giannis' YouTube. Weirdly enough, at the same time, he was streaming with some guy. who I've never heard of.
I've heard of speed. You know, he's like at every World Cup game. I'm a big speed guy. I like this dude. I watch like.
A lot of his tour of Africa. I don't know. He's just taking you places that we normally otherwise wouldn't be. And it just seems like I don't know, whatever your picture is of Africa, it wasn't what speed was showing you. And that's the big thing about this World Cup.
Like, whatever you picture about these other countries. We're seeing fans, they're seeing us. Knock on wood, but everyone seems to be getting along. I mean, it didn't look like that would be the case earlier in the year, perhaps, but. This has been again, this has been a successful World Cup.
Not for the USA men's national team. but for the World Cup as a whole. I'll just look at that bracket real quick. We've got France and Morocco. Today, I obviously like France there.
They're probably going to win it all. Spain and Belgium, this could have been us. Two o'clock tomorrow afternoon would have been so fun. To take on Spain. I I gotta go with Spain.
So France and Spain Which some people might, well, no, this is. I mean, they're going to have a good Final Four here. England and Norway. I want to say Norway because everyone's on this. This Holland guy, and everyone loves him, and I do too.
I do feel like England still has a little bit left. The way they were able to go into Mexico, the comeback they had against Congo. I do feel like they have a little bit left.
So I would take England to advance. And then Argentina over Switzerland. Um I think we're headed for a France-Argentina final. And I think France is going to win. France is just the most complete team.
They barely got by Paraguay, but They did get by them and You know, they can but most of these games when you're playing. The teams feel each other out, but I think against France more than anybody, you're playing France's game or the game that they want you to play. One man's read on it.
So I like, I like France. probably from here on out to win the World Cup at this point. Morocco. Maybe the team that's the least supposed to be here, but They were a top four finalists last cup, so maybe not. Belgium, Belgium's kind of looked not great this whole cup until.
They needed to. Beat us and they beat the shit out of us. They were down. 2-0 to Senegal with 15 minutes left. We thought we were going to play Senegal.
We played Belgium. Instead, and we got embarrassed. And now everyone's trying to figure out what's wrong with soccer. And the answer is. Whatever answer you've heard is right.
MLS, yup. U.S. National Soccer Federation. Yep. You sports, yup.
All of it. No promotion relegation. Yep. Whatever answer someone says, this is why the USA will never win a World Cup. They are right.
There is certainly more than one right answer. In this equation. All right, so a couple of things. And again, you've Maybe seen some of this stuff, but I just wanted to play and react. to what Giannis had to say.
Uh I the the the Fact that this exists. I think is really good. I think to get this 35-minute discussion. And it seemed to have been taped. Before the trade was official, but he knew it was going to happen.
Um And so, again, I don't know who set this up. Was it Giannis? Was it somebody in the Bucs? Was it Giannis' PR team. Was it Jim Pashke saying, Look, I've Can I do this?
I've interviewed this guy every year. Can I do an exit interview? Can I just do one more interview, guys? I don't know what happened, but I'm glad that it did. It'd be nice if we could go back and look at Favre.
Or Rodgers, or any of these guys, but this is a different. We love to compare this to those, but this is different. This is a guy. Who still loves the city? He'll always put on for Milwaukee.
But He's he wants another championship and The writing's on the wall. It's not going to come in Milwaukee with him. I don't know. That I would say the Heat roster is going to be better than the Bucks roster because you have Giannis and Bam, and you've got those two guys to build around. Bam scored 83 points in a game, people forget.
But the roster itself that he's on with the heat. I don't think it's much better than the roster, if at all, that he was on last year with the Bucs.
So it's a new location. But that doesn't mean that It's not like he's on the Sixers or the Cavs like LeBron might do or the. You know, he's he's still He's still on a team that is going to be fighting for a four seed at best. I think with the heat. And he knows, he wonders, you know, is the grass greener?
Is that going to happen? Um, says he is scared of Milwaukee or scared of scared of Milwaukee. Everybody else is scared of Milwaukee, but he says he's scared of Milwaukee and scared of uh. Scared of change.
So I've got a few things I want to play from Giannis. Talking about just that. Him being scared. This is what Jim Pash gave. That will never go away.
Yeah. They will always be yours. I'm scared. I'm scared. About.
Scared up, scared of And scope could change. scared of change, I'm scared that the grass is not always greener. I don't know, I'm I'm scared of play. I have things. People love me here.
People respect me here. Uh uh people allow me to be myself here in the city. And and and I'm I'm scared that I'm So I bet that that that, I think, is um One of the big things that I always would say. Because I would see him at swim lessons. And you've seen them around town too.
And people For the most part. Do leave him alone. I mean, he can be there at swimming, and people might say, hey. One lady said, Hey, you worked for the diaper mission. Thank you.
And You know, another one time I was like, hey, congrats on the NBA Cup last night. But for the most part, people do leave them alone. That's not going to be the case in Miami. A lot of these times, these celebrities, these players, You ask them, what do you want? And they'd say, I just want to go to the grocery store one time without anybody bothering me.
You ever read that story of when Michael Jackson? Rented out a grocery store so he could shop in a grocery store and experience it. And also, he was so rich that he paid for people to just like. Shop there, but not bother him. Like he just paid for people to, so that he wasn't alone in a grocery store.
He paid for like the whole experience of a grocery store. He had to manufacture. And Giannis, you know, oh look, it's Giannis, and that's that's weird. But he, for the most part, was able to live. as much of that life As any athlete's ever been able to do, I think.
For someone of his stature and talent and recognizability. To be able to live, still have it a little bit both ways. Not all the time, of course. But more probably than anybody. More probably than anybody.
Now, I think A.J. Green. Could still go shopping at Coles and be unbothered. But Giannis, you know, you're going to make a big deal out of it. Yet, we.
still respected him.
So, kudos to us on that. And maybe it kept him here longer. than it otherwise would have. But kudos to him on that.
So. I thought that was going to be a thing that really kept him here to stay.
So why then um Why do you want to leave? I only take my showers at night and I think I'm like Maybe I'll wait too long, you know, and I see guys playing. playing deep into the playoffs and I think I'm like, okay, maybe. maybe if I switch teams and I go somewhere else and I have a better opportunity, I can play deep in the playoffs, I can go try and chase another championship because I really want that. And I'm scared that maybe if I don't take that decision, that when I'm going to be 37, 38 years old.
Hopefully, when I'm retiring, I'm going to say. Why? Why like why you didn't take that risk? You know, and people don't understand it's a risk. It's a difficult place to be.
I would. Say that you could always come home. Yeah. You've earned that. You'll always be welcome here.
That'd be that'd be that'd be awesome. I'll be asking if I can go and play and maybe come back. Cape Cape Garnett did the same thing. I saw this clip of him walking into The arena. and they gave him a start innovation into pool.
So this day love and Yeah. You know, some people don't always feel they always will. Yeah. You've earned that. They won't take that.
And then it gets sappy with music and stuff. But yeah, we talked about that this week. Do you think Giannis has played his last game in a Bucs uniform? I'm going to say he has. I think the potential is certainly open, but it's just how does this go?
How does it go in Milwaukee? Are they going to be in the position where they want to welcome back just for if we're downtrodden for five years and then Giannis is able to come back? Sure. To sell some tickets again, absolutely. But if the Bucks.
somehow turn around and figure this thing out. Uh that could be That could be a little bit different. So, can they turn this thing around and figure this out? John Horst. recently spoke to the media. Um, for the first time since Giannis was traded, maybe for the first time in Jesus, it's been a while. It's been a while, Horsty.
You gotta go to a pickleball court to find this fucking guy. But he did talk to the media. Try not to fall asleep during this. It's only like 90 seconds. No one's sitting here today and saying that we're a better team today after trading Giannis.
That's. He's one of the greatest players to ever play, greatest player to the franchise history. We've had an incredible amount of success. And As I've said to Miami a couple of times, he's going to have an unbelievable season for them. He's got an incredibly motivated, healthy.
Focused Jansen de Kumbo that I think is going to have an unbelievable season in seasons. for that matter. Um and so for us It was just about the opportunity to build and to again set a foundation. Can we set something in place? uh with a new coach And take advantage of an opportunity to truly build from a place of strength.
On a roster and a style of play that hopefully, um, makes our city proud and our franchise proud and gets us to the place where we Are competitive, and we can sustain that competition and that competitive level year in and year out. And if we're lucky enough, Uh, at some point, be in a position to knock on the door and have a chance to win a championship. That's something that you all heard from. For me, over around 10 years ago, sitting at our first press conference. and you're hearing from me today.
Again, We are trying to start from a place where we can. Build, and we're starting from being competitive, being together. Um You know, getting better, you know, age-appropriate, developing guys. And just really trying to identify a style of play and an identity that allows us to do that. But we've got a lot of work to do, we're excited about the work.
But that's really what the motivation was going through this. All right, so a little bit of B-roll behind there: Channel 5 and Green Bay putting that piece together. And I really just lifted it from them.
So, credit where credit is due. It'll be interesting to see what John Horston is like as a GM now. Without Yannis. There's a burden to that. We have to put a good enough team around Giannis.
It's his team.
Now there's also the aspect of What kind of basketball team can I build? And sure, Tyler Hero is not nothing. And you know, these other guys aren't nothing. But how do I get them to build together as a team? They've got a lot of interesting players.
And really, I mean. The starting lineup I went through earlier, these aren't scrubs. But what does it look like together? And that's going to be something I think that horse is probably going to have to tinker with. For a while, for as long as it is him.
You know, a lot of change in the Bucs organization from even the title, Eden's. Is still here, but is he going to be out soon? Is it just going to be the Jimmy Haslam show? The Lazaris are gone. Peter Fagan.
who's been a big rock for them. Is gone. Ted Davis doesn't work for the Bucs anymore. If you need to be reminded, just ask him. He wasn't fired, though.
His contract wasn't renewed. Which is what happened with me. No, it was more laid off.
Well, whatever. If there's one thing I know that people like about Ted Davis that they like about me, it's constantly bringing up. How you lost your job. And I just, you know. I know that that's what you sit up in your chair for, or that's what you turn up the radio for when you're.
uh listening to the podcast through the speakers. Oh, Bart's on this again? What nothing is he going to say this time? I'm curious to know how it looks. I think the Bucs.
They're going to get a little bit of a window. We're They can rebuild and they can grow and and learn into this thing. But I do think the Bucs, maybe more than any other team. Need to be good. Or the interest will Evaporate quickly.
I'm not saying that we're bandwagon fans by any stretch, but we need to be good. The Bucks need to be good. Otherwise, interest does wane a little bit. The Brewers, you're still going to go to the ballpark. You know, it's a summer activity.
The Packers, you're still going to go to the games, and they could be 4-11. You're still watching in December 15th. You're still watching the game. The Badgers football program, I think we're finding. Not so much.
Maybe they are a little more bucks in nature. You have to be good for people to care. I mean, that last end of the Badgers season, who gave a shit? But, like, This last half, the last two months of the Buc season, once Giannis was shut down, how many games did you watch? I I don't think I watched I mean, I I didn't watch really any.
At all.
Well why would you? There's nothing to watch. There could have been something else on that night. Maybe. You know, a different basketball game, maybe.
Wrestling, a hot shot week of title changes on television this week. I got a voicemail here from David in Buffalo. Been a minute since we heard from David. I did not uh I don't know what he talked about. Maybe LeBron.
I think it says LeBron here. David in Buffalo. Wants to talk a little, LeBron. Remember, you can get your voicemails into the show at any time. Don't even worry if they're bad.
I'll still probably play them. 402-915-2278-402-915-BART. That's 402-915. B-A-R-T, and that is. Brought to you by our friends at Carl's Place.
And we thank Carl and the crew over there. As usual. All right, so here is David. In Buffalo. Mark, what's going on?
This is David from Buffalo. Just got to jump in here, man. It's been a while. I've got a couple of thoughts of mine with Bron. It's gonna be interesting where he ends up.
I think to me, best case scenario to win a championship is probably Philly. Um, I did the Warriors are too old. I think that small ball era of the NBA has kind of passed itself by. Um And I think Miami doesn't have enough shooting. And I don't think Cleveland, I don't know about the coach there.
I don't know if he would want to play for him. And that coach, they've lost some games in the playoffs that would be a little concerning to me. You know, if I were him to want to go play for a guy like that, especially after what happened against the Knicks. Last season in game one of the Eastern Conference Finals. A couple of the thoughts, man.
The World Cup. The US couple things. Number one, I'm not going to get too political with it, but Trump should have never gotten involved with that. I'm not into politics at all, but don't get involved in that. Belgium basically turned it around and said, fuck you.
We're going to win this thing. We're going to shove it up your ass. That's what they did. And Belton is, you know. Whipped us like a government mule, as a great Kim Ross would say.
Great win for Chris Godderup on. Sunday at the John Deere Classic. He's in the hunt for Player of the Year on the PJ Tour. Going to be an interesting couple weeks overseas. The Scottish Open.
Let's see if Rory or Scotty Scheffler can get back to their winning ways. Both guys have kind of had.
Okay seasons, I guess it's never just an okay season when you win a major like Rory has, but Rory hasn't done much besides that master's win.
So it'll be interesting. I'll probably give you some picks next week for the British Open at Birkdale. Always an interesting golf course. There remember since of course, Jordan Spief won his last major on Ian Baker Finch, who became an announcer for CVS Sports, one time won a British Open back in the day there in the early 90s. Talk to you next week, buddy.
I'm out. All right. Appreciate that as well. That is David in Buffalo. The other.
Noises you heard. Paul, text me. Pete Nance is coming back to the Bucs. There was a report on the transaction log today that somebody found, and then it was. Officially reported by Jake Fisher.
And then I did just get a press release from the Bucks.
So Pete Nance. is back on a one-year deal. With a team option on year two.
So, those of you Nancy Holics will get a little bit more juice. coming up here. This fall looks like. Should he make the roster? They're going to have.
You're going to have some cuts somewhere. You can only roster the 15. Although there's no Adeta Kumpos that need to be on the roster.
So it's basically like the Bucs got like three free roster spots to play with now.
So that uh Is interesting. Oh, and then I got that. You heard my US bank. alert, I got charged the $11.65 a month for Twitter. For the blue check mark.
That was what that was. We'll talk to you soon. As always, thanks for stopping into the Winklerverse.
