How much do you have to give to please God? Is an hour of your Sunday morning enough or ten percent of your income? What if you went into full time missions and gave away everything but the clothes on your back? Would that be enough? As Pastor J.D. leads us through the story of King David, he explains that it’s not about what we do for God, but what God does for us. And our service to him flows out of that!

Today on Senate life with JD Greer. God doesn't need you in the weight of saving the world is not on your shoulders but you offer yourself to God and what he tells you to do is you want to feel guilty over thought God never lay all the flowers of heaven on my shoulders when I know and I presented my life to God as he got what you want me to do. He shows me what to do and then how I can for my life for others life with pastor JD Greer. I'm only minutes. Have you ever wondered about how much you have to get to please God is aware of your Sunday morning and asked for 10% of your income. When he went into full-time missions. Do you think that would be enough today pastor JD looks at a time when King David tried to earn God's favor by building a temple. We will discover that it's not about what we do for God, but what God has done and continues to do for us pastor JD titled this message is giving to do God's salvation is given to us not something this is the part of the gospel were most people stumble is a gift which means it is costly for the giver. But it is free for the recipients. Salvation is a gift that God gives in which he paid the full and entire price. Your part is only to receive it. So people ask how much is enough. How often wanted to come to church how much you will have to give for God to be happy with me. What's the total flat.

How much is enough question shows you don't get the gospel, salvation is a gift that you received it cost him, not you say how much is enough. Jesus has done enough, and gives it as a gift to all who will receive it. Christianity is not about you living a good life and giving your record to God.

It is about Jesus living the perfect life and giving his record to you as a gift. You live the life you were supposed to live. And then he died the death you were condemned to die and give you that is a gift.

If you would receive the grace principal next on top of that built on top of that flowing out of it is what will call the giving principle different beginning.

Bristol basically has three parts to its I can write these down just duties a BNC giving principle hearsay Lead us and it's pretty simple but nine women. God does not need us. That's one of the giving principle.

God says this is not how to build for me this is a house on building for you.

Salvation from start to finish is from God, and he does not need anything in the process from us salvation from start to finish is from God and is a little sign on the door that says no help. Jesus went to the cross alone. The cross is not a team effort. Everybody abandoning all the disciples all of us always print none of us went to the cross with them. He suffered and died alone.

Like David, he ran onto that field alone to face the giant of our sin. While we all stood in unfaithfulness and cowardice on the sidelines with Jesus was raised from the dead.

It was by his power, with no help from us.

The disciples were not beside Jesus with the crash cart going to war time publisher for guidance about the mouth. That way if you wanted to. But no, he chose to refuse Jesus all by himself. Write music to your Princess bride with her blowing air to the dead guy that's not how Jesus was raised from the dead right.

The father brought Jesus back from the dead. All by himself. When Jesus establishes his eternal kingdom on earth one day in the future.

It's something he does alone. The book of Revelation says that John Saul, the eternal kingdom, the new Jerusalem, coming down from heaven to earth, prepared by God, it's not something that we built up from the earth, to the point to guys like me and that's really awesome place, not like the rule there and I like live there and come down to live in it is something that's prepared by God and brought by himself in the same way right now. Get this in the present. It is God alone who builds his kingdom with Jesus and his disciples. He said I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. Not you will build my church and I'll be around to assist you if you need some help. I told her one of my favorite scenes in acts is after laying on the disciples, the great commission, which basically was something like this every person in every country in the world needs to hear about Jesus and that's the only way they could be saved and you're the only ones that they can hear it from after laying on them. The great commission.

I told you one of the most unbelievably surprising things is what comes next out of his mouth and what I want you doing that right now.

Nothing what you wait to sit alone for 10 days by seven weight you can imagine the type a people in the disciples of all time you take a 10 day vacation and by the world is about Jesus but us now to hear about them through us talk about take 10 days to sit and do nothing and I sat there for 10 days just sat there praying waited God sends the Holy Spirit go and nothing else would be taught the disciples were there 10 days. This will be taught is no way you do this on this, usually the process yes but this from start to finish is for me, and apart from me you can do nothing less of you. I pastor you are blowing my mind doesn't need me letting out a slight announcement on the money. I myself thought about Jason know the American dream of materialism. No, the second part of giving principle and if this be we should want to get back to God. We should want you back to God.

Not because he needs it, but because our lives overflow with gratefulness for what he has done for us. David had the right attitude. He wanted to build a bridge you have the right attitude. Second Chronicles 1st Chronicles are parallel books to first and second Samuel you like interpretation versus I have said I second Chronicles God says to David Ike interpreting this event because it was in your heart to build a house for my name. You did well, that was in your heart you motion. You had to build for me honey apple what God had done for David. How could David not overflow with gratefulness of what God got taken for the past remitted king God had given him eternal kingdom. Of course David would once to respond to God like this. But I love what David did in response when God told him no to this request. I got says I want you to build first Chronicles explains what happens next, look at this verse to chapter 20 verse two. David said stone cutters to prepare dressed stone for building a house of God. They will also provide a great quantities of iron for nails the doors to the gates of the clamps as well as Bronson quantities beyond way and senior members without number for David said Solomon my son is young and inexperienced in the house that's been overlord must be exceedingly magnificent baby boy throughout all lands from my preparation for Olivet. I know Solomon is like a wise guy who ever lived. Everything right now he's got a young disorder, ignorant, disorganized, not spice is really a bag you want to do is on the layout.

All materials for him, leave him instructions about exactly how to build it.

I will make this dummy proof of submittal.

I go to put together all the preparation for so that David provided materials in great quality before his death David Hardy see wanted to get back to itself to the God who'd given so much to him and his heart overflowed with gratefulness. We should want to give back to the God who gave so much to us. Paul says in second Corinthians that we ought to give our lives for him, gave his life for us. We ought to say God as you poured yourself out for me to pour myself out for you that's what you do when you love somebody that's what you do when you're loved by somebody.

If we understand the gospel. We would want to pour our lives back for God that leads me to see their part of the giving principle.

We should offer ourselves to God and then do what he tells us to do that offer ourselves to God right and grateful response that is he needs us, which offers all the gossip God how can I pour my light out for you right you see what this looks like a nice when the Holy Spirit came down. They didn't know that I will reply Holy Spirit here now you get out in the world evangelization done really proficient and play with our toys right there like member member will hear my send me. I wanted to I want to be used to bring grace to others. Holy Spirit usually use me, use me Paul would express this in Romans 10 Paul after laying out a case following it will be after laying out a case for why every person in the world needs to hear about Jesus in order to be saved why we the church are the only ones that they can hear from just this famous missions going all the world, verse, and here's how it reads how will they call on him and they have not believed and how will they believe in him of whom they have not heard and how will they hear without a preacher and how will they preach. Watch these next words unless we go no, unless they are sent. In other words, Paul recognizes that even though we are the only way anybody will ever hear about Jesus are going doesn't do any good of the Holy Spirit under this in what it leaves you with is this. I've got to be used by God.

I want to be used by God to bring salvation to others that God has given to me, but God the only one who can do this and so God I need to be set told you when God called me in a ministry that's very similar to what it look like that and realize it at the time but I was overwhelmed 1.8 billion people and never heard about Jesus, and I was like God. That makes sense for me to live my life as if it's all about me that one 20 billion people have never heard about you.I want to be used. I know I can go anywhere until you Cindy God, will you send me have you ever prayed that God ever say God I want to pour my life out for you. Show me how to do its that's what it means to have a hearts that is like David's heart was a man of God's own heart the right heart, the giving Paul David, a water bill. They want to go but they know they gotta be sent church. The point is, listen, God doesn't need you and the weight of saving the world is not on your shoulders but you offer yourself to God and do what he tells you to do. That means you want to feel guilty all the time because not everything that comes from heaven, has your name on it got never lay all priorities and heaven on my shoulders. Not everything that comes from heaven, has my name on its own when I know and I presented my life to God is a guy what you want me to do. He shows me what to do and then how I can pour my life for others.

You see how this works. You see how you respond in the God empower you if you ever if you and I have a contest the potential in this on limited. It gives you an unbelievable sense of freedom and in an unbelievable sense of power or experience about freedom because you no longer feel like the weight rest on you power because God is able to take your meager life and do more to it than you ever dreamed. Example store the five loaves and two fish 5000 hungry men plus their families out there.

15,000 people. What Jesus used to take it into little boys lunch 502 fish, otherwise known of told you as a Hebrew happy meal right would not offend more than a 10-year-old. One boy and got pics at 502 fish and feeds everybody so that there's 12 baskets left over. What is that trying to show you the amount is inconsequential you think Jesus need of the following two fish maybe only have three loaves and one for she could only fed like 2000 people taken a fisheye and a poppy seed and fed the entire world right the amount was inconsequential is simply the fact that somebody had taken all of themselves and place it in Jesus's hands.

The amount was inconsequential as the percentage there's no Jesus watching the offer watching people give me offer some you think is rude but he's as I got it didn't, and he's watching you for the offer. Bill Gates comes along, slaps $1 million for the building fund right. The woman, a woman comes on behind him puts him for the writer describes two mites, which is 1/8 of a penny 1/4 of a penny combines what you put in there discerns recitals. I won't put more Bill Gates did. Why does God can do more with two mites that represent before offering himself to God than Bill Gates could do with $1 million thrown at world poverty Cedar to mistakes that I see people making giving the first mistake is they never really offer themselves to God. They want to pay got off paid a 10% tax to God.

I gotta pay Uncle Sam whatever percentage to God's 10% and I'm the one using the rest of my money for me. I'd report out on me like a tax, or would you tip God no that's shows you will understand what God has done for you. There's no way that you can receive how Jesus poured himself out and pay God to percent tax to go on living your life is about you.

You would say to God. God, here's what I have for you that when you portrait out for me it's a God show me, show me how to build your kingdom.

I'll do what you tell me to do you need this has little to the rims of his money. I could do all the stuff in the world. No, but when I put in my hands. The Jesus I want to use for others. When you use for me. Suddenly you have the heart that I have and I can take five loaves and two fish. That's all you got multiplied and blessed by the letter to be 12 baskets left over to take mother's home and enjoy yourself on the God who out that little boy took home a basket. I'm sure of it and say, but I'm not right. I will boys fight and he walked home sick and you can't out give God. You cannot give it ever go to have a heart. This is God all that I have is yours. Second mistake people make in giving is a think that they're the Savior of the world.

This burden lies on them. It does not offer yourself to God doing tells you you're gonna know that was me to I can't answer the question fully. But I get a be honest, a what is right in front of you. James two says whatever need is right in front of you that you can meet that's got an interview to meet that need rights of the somebody portal.

Our church does the city either. We we see the need to run our city is are we going to ask God help us meet those needs. Write the other thing I would say B is whatever dreams and passions are growing in your heart when you dream about seeing God's mercy, to other people feel that dream dream great things for God like David can tell you know if he needs to. But dream great things for God is a God, here's what I want to see happen for you and let God begin to guide you. That's what this church is doing.

That's your giving principal real quick gutters and fast the disappointment principal disappointment principal in this passage, David got a green got tells no there Avenue around the refill. I got your God like this guy got is no passengers you God sometimes has divine reasons for telling us know sometimes it's because God wants to make sure that other people and us are making a bigger deal out of God than they do us and sometimes our success can make us be really full of ourselves and make other people think where the hero is sometimes our failure can actually direct attention more to God that our successes could ever think that maybe God tells you know and what you fall flat on your face or the people will know that he's the hero not you have everything you touch succeeded everything you did. You were always the hero people start to think that you were all that but people think that you're all that's on the new anybody to go to Cisco make him jealous and they can feel insecure and make him discouraged. God took it from David Solomon.

People say and look what David did say that I told him no.

So the people would know that I was a big deal, not David. So God might ordain failure in your life to direct other people's attention toward God might put you flat on your face so that nobody can really make a big deal out of you and that's okay because it's all about bringing glory to God. That is the disappointment principal is like my will pulse the one let you know what I might get humiliated but may get humiliated as part of the directors is in the God I want to be able to say.if you gotta make me failure to humiliate me to bring glory to you. It's okay because people of me to be in Yunnan anyway is a disappointed Russell here's Lassen is not a principal to question. I caught the kingdom question. This passage brings up a question that each of you want to ask is yes to the David David everything ever built full part everyone, whether political or personal everything fall apart.

David's kingdom eventually fell apart our personal kingdoms all fall apart. Given enough time, your body okay is full.

Part Anderson you like to hear that, but your body didn't hold your hair thought out about how much Grecian formula you put it in your face is sagging and how much Botox you pump into it in your body just to look like it you soon matter how much you work out. It don't look like you used to look when you're 19 years old deal with okay and it just didn't work for me or your kingdom phone what your business will fall apart your family and your family's great right now. Hope that there around you. The day that you die, but in a very real sense your family falls apart when you die you least mean by that.

You're on your deathbed and they're about to take you in for emergency surgery and your loved ones come around and later having your shoulders like honey were with you were to go with you and you know and I know that's poetic but it's not true.

When I put that mask on your face and they take that knife out. You are all by your self. Unless you're a part of God's eternal kingdom. At that point new family.

Nobody knew career. Nothing matters because all of its goal. God's is the only kingdom that last forever much awesome about this passage is offers for you to be a part of that kingdom, an invitation he says come I'll make you a part of his kingdom are poorly paid the price for your sake I built the house. All you gotta do is receive and come live in it. You ever see that invitation become a part of Jesus is eternal kingdom. Here's what else is also the me after you become a part Aquino yes you lets you become a part of doing things in his kingdom that have eternal value. I don't really God needs but God has allowed me for the last few years to use my life in the kingdom of God and I have done things that have eternal value and that means a lot to me that you know your inner church in the community, among unreached people groups in our family. God has been able to use me to do things eternal value in and when I die, my life is not, and have nothing to show for what I would have built into Jesus kingdom are you doing that for some of you listen. God is only like an assistant to you. It's all his is there that you are you calling him when you need him to help your kingdom work God's not your assistant in your life is going to fall apart. I told you.

The problem with some of your prayers is not that they're too big you're not asking too much and God.

You're asking too little because you're asking God to do things for you when he want you to ask him to do huge things for his namesake, David Lawrence is over 26 is your name will be magnified in the earth, and now I can ask God for great and incredible things, not for my kingdom but for his mental destroyed Alexander the before and I say this and I'll close Alexander the great.

When the world's arms a great leaders of the times, the richest man in the world. Greece, third, fourth century BC right Alexander the great had a general servant for many years came to Alexander said I got a sign of life or you pay for my son's wedding. Alexander thought your email loyal Gen. for years. Sure off every wedding to this guy goes to Alexander's treasurer and printed a bill for the most exorbitant wedding anybody had ever heard of him and were talking way over the top and the treasurer walks up. Alexander is like gonna believe this guy you graciously told him that you would help him with his wedding and he has turned in a bill for the most expensive wedding Reese's ever see begin. Send disrespect that shows you to punish us.look over the billing and last I suggested to all of it to the treasures of why he's not busy thinking to manage you as a because he paid me to complement for that exorbitant request number one.

He thinks I'm actually rich enough that I could pay for that number two. Yes, you think I'm willing to do it, which means that he is complemented both by riches and my generosity and I like this complements to give him what he ask because he has complemented me as he asked God loves to be asked for huge things that show off his power and his generosity things in his kingdom, not ours. And if you are part of his kingdom. You can ask for things that show off his generosity power is a reason got an answer some your prayers because it's always about looking asking for God's kingdom and you'll watch it start to blow your mind. Turning away from our own little kingdoms and plans and looking instead for how we can join in God's plan.

That's the challenge today on Senate life with pastor Jamie Greer seven JD our gift is meant as a book about politics and about all of our listeners, but I'm not super big in the politics most Christians I know really want to relate their faith in politics, but many still know how they're not sure where to start. That's one of the reasons I find this book so helpful is because it shows you what is it look like to be a follower of Jesus who engages in politics.

It avoids the two extremes, which is politics is everything. Politics is nothing right. Being involved in politics can be a way of blessing your neighbor, but we also come out with the understanding that were citizens of the kingdom that that is not of this world and ultimately our arcane RC's are ultimate president is going to be Jesus. And so our engagement. Politics is always limited. We may be very passionate in it, but we understand that it's not the ultimate thing, and that the gospel is a greater reality and the gospel is a greater agenda than any political party and earth is going to be able to fully represent.

That's why I'm excited about this book. I think it will benefit you the book again.
