Today on Sekulow, a report that the Secret Service is aware of a Trump assassination plot. Keeping you informed and engaged, now more than ever, this is Sekulow. We want to hear from you.
Share and post your comments, or call 1-800-684-3110. And now your host, Jordan Sekulow. Alright folks, welcome to Sekulow. I am in Milwaukee, Wisconsin broadcasting from my hotel room here for the third day of the Republican National Convention. I think one of the most important days of the convention because the country and the American people and the delegates here will be able to hear from U.S. Senator J.D.
Vance since he was nominated to be the vice Presidential running mate of President Trump. Obviously, I think tomorrow night with President Trump addressing the nation for the first time, not just really addressing the Republican National Convention, but addressing the nation for the first time since this attempt on his life. Logan, I think that speech alone could be one of, if not the most watched convention speeches in our history, as well as this breaking news that there is another assassination of plot.
This is not related to Saturday. That the Iranian, that the Secret Service has been briefed on by intelligence in the United States, that the Iranians have an ongoing plot. We know they've called on a fatwa, but they have an ongoing plot to assassinate President Trump. And that his security has been increased and that increased security was in place in Pennsylvania and yet was not able to stop that 20-year-old from climbing on a building a hundred and so yards away and taking what could have been a kill shot on the former President of the United States. So, I mean, Logan, a lot of confusion here too about how with that increased Iranian threat, they weren't putting in place a bigger perimeter. And you're starting to see the Secret Service like trying to blame President Trump and the Trump campaign and say, well, we don't like that they do so many big events. Yeah, which is just par for the course. This is what politics is.
You go and you do these big events, but it is unfortunate that we're seeing these reports coming in. Obviously, we knew after, this has been an ongoing threat from Iran after the taking out of Soleimani. That is something that we've kind of known was always active, but maybe not active to the point where we knew that there were ongoing plans for assassinations. But we have a no longer sitting President right now. You have that obviously tuned to the web in the weekend.
But I think you are right. It's going to be a big night tomorrow night as President Trump takes that stage. But I do think, and look, we saw just on social numbers, I have to pull up those numbers, but some record-breaking numbers just watching his entrance into the arena that happened the first time.
So just walking out to that Lee Greenwood song, that whole sort of big performance, if you will, of bringing him back out, even that alone to gigantic numbers. So I would assume that you are going to see massive numbers when in terms of people are going to tune in to figure out where Donald Trump takes this. As we've been told, the rhetoric may be shifting. If the rhetoric shifts, what does that look like?
Can you actually have a Donald Trump that becomes the great uniter? I know that's a crazy thing to think about, but a lot of people are speculating that's where it could be headed. We'll see.
I'm not sure about that. I'm not sure because it seems like the Democrats, they backed off for about 48 hours and then now things have started to tick back up in terms of rhetoric. So I think they saw there was some sympathy happening there. People obviously becoming a little bit more supportive of President Trump and now they know that that is a risk.
So we're going to keep that conversation going, but I honestly think tonight's a big night too. Tonight you're going to hear from J.D. Vance, the vice Presidential pick. Honestly, as someone who follows politics pretty closely, I got to do it for a living, I've heard more from J.D. Vance in terms of him being on Hannity in interviews in the last 48 hours than I have ever.
So I'm actually very curious how he sounds. It wasn't even like some of the vice Presidential picks that you've sort of seen make the media rounds for weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks. Because he obviously was one of the names being brought up, but he wasn't someone who ran. He wasn't someone who was a part of those debates that happened where Trump wasn't there.
He doesn't have that baggage hanging over him, so he doesn't have those conversation points. So I'm very curious. I'm more curious about tonight. Let me know your thoughts.
What are your thoughts? 1-800-684-3110. What do you want to hear from J.D.
Vance tonight? What do you want to hear and what kind of tone do you want to hear from President Trump tomorrow coming out of the RNC? 1-800-684-3110. Tulsi Gabbard is going to be joining us next to give us her thoughts and feedback as well. And again, Jordan is joining us live from the Republican National Convention. Be right back.
Welcome back to Sekulow. Jordan, you're joining us here live from the Republican National Convention, and we have Tulsi Gabbard joining us live as well. Jordan, I'll let you take it from here. Yeah, Tulsi, I want to go to you first. You're just thoughts as we're here at the convention.
And so we're kind of stuck in that bubble of the media that we do see in all the events that we're attending and we go from one to another to another. But Tulsi, your thoughts first on the pick of J.D. Vance, the first millennial to be chosen for an executive branch position to serve as vice President. And I wanted to get your thoughts on the pick of J.D.
Vance. I think it was a good pick from President Trump and that initial thought. I endorsed J.D. Vance when he ran for the Senate in 2022, and he has shown courage through his short time in the U.S. Senate. The fact that headline I was literally just scrolling through headlines before you before we joined each other on this call. Here's one from Politico magazine that, quote, scared to death GOP security hawks slam Vance selection.
The fact that that J.D. Vance's selectionist Trump's running mate is is terrifying the military industrial complex and the warmongers in Washington further affirms why he's the right choice. First of all, because he's looking out for what's best for the country, not what's best for the military industrial complex and those who are profiting off of us being in a constant state of war. Second of all, he's somebody that President Trump knows will have his back. And this is one of the challenges that President Trump had in his last administration was, you know, he had people around him who may have said yes to his face when he said, hey, here's what I want to do. And I'll use as an example when he said we need to get out of Syria now. There were people around him, both those who he appointed as well as those who wear our country's uniform, who were intentionally slow rolling and trying to do the exact opposite of what Trump directed them to do.
This this is so, so deeply offensive and goes directly in the face of our democratic process where unelected people are trying to direct the policy of our country that is exactly opposed to the policy that any elected that this elected President had laid out. So, again, I think J.D. Vance is a great choice. I look forward to doing all I can to help President Trump and J.D.
Vance get elected and bring back this leadership to the White House that actually respects the Constitution and puts the well-being of the American people and our country first. Well, and Tulsi, like you who continue to serve our country, J.D. Vance has served our country at a time of war as a Marine, so he's not coming to it as someone who is anti-military. I think there's a big distinction to make there.
It's not it's not it's not unpatriotic or these you are the individuals that put the uniform on and risk your lives for our country. But it's a new way of I think it's the more modern way of thinking, including most I'd say those millennial voters inside the Republican Party and new voters are going to be attracted to the party that we think differently about how the U.S. should engage the world. It doesn't mean we should never engage, but that we shouldn't immediately use that as our first option every time. And that kind of seemed like to be like where we were going as the Republican Party and the Democrat Party as well over the last decade and a half.
Yeah, you're exactly right. And you know, it is it is the greatest act of patriotism and service to our country to challenge those who whose first reaction is to go to war, who believe that the only way that we can relate with other countries or communicate or send them a message is by making threats of either economic warfare or kinetic warfare. This has gotten us into so many terrible situations that have both had short and long term costs and consequences ultimately on the American people, our freedom and our ability to live in a peaceful and prosperous society. So, yeah, I think, again, your point about the generational change, I think is is an important one, because by and large, you know, we think for ourselves, we're independent thinkers, we're critical thinkers, at least most of us are.
I'm looking at some of the women in Congress and the Democratic side today who, who are not reflective of these statements. So, but but by by not just coloring within the lines, but actually asking oftentimes the most obvious questions that the people the Washington establishment is afraid to ask, what are we doing? What is our objective? Why would we go to war with this country? What are the unintended negative consequences? What what's the exit strategy?
What is winning look like? These are basic questions that every American and every member of Congress should be asking every time this question of war comes into play. I'm not an isolationist.
J.D. Vance is not an isolationist. President Trump is not an isolationist. We just want what's best for our country. Well, see, I also want to ask you about the the what happened on Saturday, and now we're getting new reports that there was an even increased security presence by the Secret Service because of a threat from Iran that continues out of Iran to take out former President Trump during this campaign cycle where he is more exposed. And again, if that was what we saw from increased Secret Service presence, you know, it's very concerning to a lot of Americans.
We know that this campaign is going to be, you know, state to state, city to city for both major candidates. And it feels like we're at a time when our top security in the United States can't secure our candidates. I'm deeply concerned about this. President Trump is a threat to the power elite in Washington and the deep state, and I believe that the threat posture against him will only likely increase because he's not willing to be controlled by any of them. I am deeply concerned the longer that this woman stays as the director of the Secret Service. I don't have confidence. I don't have confidence that she can actually secure President Trump, or anyone that the Secret Service is charged to secure you can you can surround him with more bodies.
But but if the the leadership is not there in a set truly assessing the threat and creating the conditions and setting the policies for Secret Service agents to do what they have been trained to do. I really fear for I really fear for President Trump's safety. Yes, and to go back to just kind of overall your thoughts on the Republican National Convention. Obviously, it's a big night for J.D. Vance.
We'll go back to that for a second. What do you think he needs to tell the American people, many of which are learning more about him in the last, you know, 24, 48 hours than they knew about him at all over the last couple of years? You know, I know that the convention today is the theme and topic of the day that they're focusing on is foreign policy. And it's a great opportunity for him to talk about his background, to talk about what this country means to him and what kind of leadership and counsel he will bring for President Trump and how he will take on the the war movement that he's going through.
To put it bluntly, they come from all different directions. Sometimes they wear a uniform. Sometimes they they are appointed civilians, and sometimes they are the lobbyists who are bringing in the big money. It's going to be critical both for J.D. Vance and for those who Trump chooses to surround himself with in his cabinet should he win this election. And I'm going to do everything I can to help support make that happen. He needs people of courage with a backbone who are willing to take on these powerful entities who have been in control in Washington across administrations from both political parties. Route out that deep corruption and make sure that there are people in place at every level who are committed to putting the well-being and interests of our country first. This is something that I would like to hear from J.D.
Vance. I think it reflects his views and the kind of leadership that he'll bring, but I think it's important for the country to know that he's committed to putting the well-being and interests of our country first. And I think it reflects his views and the kind of leadership that he'll bring, but I think it's important for the country to know the drastic change in leadership that we the people will have by electing a Trump-Vance ticket. I think that's it right there, is how quick things will start changing.
I think even before they actually take the oaths of office, I think before, if they were elected in November, the world will start changing in the U.S.'s favor knowing who is coming back to the White House and who President Trump is bringing with him this time as Vice President and, of course, as they build a team of cabinet officials and top advisors as well. Tulsi, as always, we appreciate your insight into this and to the convention this week, and we want to get more of your insight after the convention is over because a lot of people get looking tonight to J.D. Vance and, of course, for this major address from President Trump for the first time since he was shot in an attempted assassination on Saturday. Tulsi, as always, we appreciate you having you on the Sekulow team, and Logan, I know this is a great time for people to support the work of the ACLJ as we are out all over the country and, of course, here in Milwaukee to be with leaders inside the Republican Party. Yeah, we want to make sure your voice is heard, whether that's through this broadcast, whether that's people like Jordan who are traveling around the country and around the world, getting your point of view and your views out there, and the work of the ACLJ is doing that in a really strong way, but we can't do it without your financial support.
We are in the middle of our life and liberty drive. You can be a part of it right now. All donations are doubled. Go to ACLJ.org, scan the QR code on your screen. If you're able to, I'm also going to encourage you to become an ACLJ champion.
That makes your donation a monthly gift. Our champions are vital to take on any unexpected event at a moment's notice. So be an ACLJ supporter. You're either a one-time donor or an ACLJ champion today. Do that right now while we're on the air. We'd appreciate it.
ACLJ.org. Be right back. Hey, welcome back to Sekulow. This is Jordan Sekulow.
I am in a hotel room in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We'll be attending, of course, we have been attending the Republican National Convention. We've done events with Rick Grenell for some of the delegates, so doing ACLJ events and being on panels and, of course, meeting with top-level Republican leaders, many of which now are part of the ACLJ team. Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Rick Grenell as well. Of course, last night we were with the Speaker of the House, who was a great friend of ours before he became Speaker.
He was on this broadcast a lot, still is on the broadcast a lot. Mike Johnson and his wife Kelly with our, my wife Anna there, and you see Don Parsons from our legal team. So, again, part of the convention is kind of taking everybody outside of their Washington schedules and allowing them to kind of interact in a little bit more of an unofficial way. But there's a lot of official actions that go on here, and tonight one of the most official actions is not the fact that J.D. Vance has been nominated, but it will be his speech. This is the biggest speech of J.D. Vance's life, and if he becomes Vice President, there will be bigger speeches. But this one is the biggest, so far, because it is, for many Americans, they'll start tuning in tonight to learn about who is this guy exactly.
I know he wrote the book. He's been a senator for a couple of years. Is he ready to be someone that I would trust to step in as President of the United States, if necessary? Because remember, President Trump is going to, if President Trump wins, and polls are good right now, but if President Trump wins, Logan, we're looking at four years. That means a couple of years into his presidency, J.D. Vance and other Republicans are going to start running for President. So it is going to be, while I think President Trump, in an interesting way, will be able to just focus and not have to think about running again for President of the United States, his VP and a host of other Republicans will likely be put in a position where they start putting the feelers out, putting their teams out in those key states, just a couple years after this election. Yeah, we're probably talking about two years from right now.
Maybe not even. These conversations will begin. They won't even begin.
They've already begun. Part of it, I think that's why you saw J.D. Vance getting picked, is you saw someone who could be a future of the party, someone who is younger than you, a little older than me, and that's a weird spot to be in now, where the potential President of the United States is our age.
That's right. You're now looking at a peer, potentially, as being the Vice President. But Jordan, I wanted to ask you about this because things quieted down for the Democrats after the assassination attempt on Saturday as well as the RNC's kickoff on Monday. But what we're seeing now reported out of Axios is that the Biden Rebellion, as they call it in their headline, has resurfaced on Capitol Hill. And it focuses on the fact that the DNC is not until August 19th is the beginning of that. And they had originally said they'd do a virtual roll call to meet the ballot requirements in Ohio. Since then, Ohio has gone ahead and gotten legislation through, signed by Governor DeWine, to allow for them to just go through their normal process. But the Democrats are still planning on doing a virtual roll call. Some of the rank and file within Congress are crying foul, saying they're just trying to rush this because they don't want Biden to get replaced from our rebellion. What are your thoughts on that?
I think it's absolutely right. There's no reason now to do that virtual roll call. Do it in person. Do it with your delegates. They're Biden delegates. So what are you afraid of? What are you afraid of happening between now and August 19th? That, again, we're going to have to see more, you know, eventually we're going to see more of President Biden again. I think he got a reprieve from all of those discussions because of the attempted assassination of President Trump. And that was really just a reprieve because that was the dominant news story. And then we had the Republican National Convention, which is a time for the Republicans to get most of the attention at Democrat convention. They will get most of the attention.
That's normal. You'll get both, you know, people all day weighing in on cable news about was this good? Was this right?
Is this the good pick? How did this speech go? Did this speech work? Really, the two big speeches are tonight, J.D. Vance, tomorrow, Donald Trump. And if you really want to get down to it, it's Donald Trump tomorrow night.
J.D. Vance is big, and I'm not taking anything away from vice Presidents, but people usually vote on Presidents. They're going to vote on either Donald Trump or whoever the Democrat has to be. And I don't think anything changed Saturday on those Democrats who feel like Joe Biden is not the right person to go up against Donald Trump. I mean, could you imagine if they do this next debate? The Republican nominee is going to be someone who was attempted assassination and is still going to be able to rock and roll over the current nominee from the Democrat Party if they choose to stick with Joe Biden. And imagine a debate between Harris and J.D.
Vance. I mean, it would be embarrassing. I don't know that Harris will do it.
I really don't. It's going to be very interesting to see how the Democrats try to get out of a mess that they're in. And it's not just Joe Biden.
It's Kamala Harris as well. I want to hear from you. I want your feedback right now. We've got a few lines open at 1-800-684-3110. Will and I will take some of these calls coming up in the next few segments. Harry Hutchins will be joining us a little bit later. But 1-800-684-3110 to have your voice heard on the air, even if you're watching online.
I see a lot of you are joining us on YouTube, a lot of you joining us on Rumble right now. We'd like to hear from you as well. Give us a call because I think this is an important time. Look, for me, like you said, I think that Donald Trump will have a very important speech tomorrow. I'm interested in hearing from J.D.
Vance. I think a lot of people who are more politically attuned are interested in hearing what he's going to say because we know what the future impact would be. But I want to get a question for you, Jordan, as being on the ground there and being at multiple Republican conventions over the last 20 years. How does it feel?
What are the differences? Obviously, you're coming out of a much different weekend than people had anticipated. So I'm sure, and some of the reports even came out yesterday where they were stopping more attacks potentially from happening. What does it feel like to be, like you said, in that bubble? Well, you're in the bubble because you've got a major security perimeter with lots of different, there's Capitol Police that we know from outside of our offices in Washington, D.C. that are here.
So you've got Capitol Police, D.C. Police, Milwaukee Police, Homeland Security investigation teams, Secret Service teams, military, National Guard. And of course, you've got the protest zones that are allowed. They're kind of hard to see unless you really want to go to them. There's like one that's kind of a liberal protest zone and one that's a pro-Palestinian protest zone. Again, you get shouted out a little bit when you go through the, if you're outside the perimeter and you're going to an event, but most of the time you're getting dropped off right in front of the event.
People might shout something here or there. The truth is inside the bubble, I think most people were taking, they were going to decide when President Trump came out, he kind of take the tone from there. But are people, again, talking a lot about what happened Saturday?
Yes. A lot about President Trump and surviving that incident, how that could affect him and even how he gives the remarks. I mean, we all know he's thrown out his remarks, changed a lot of the plan of the convention. I think the fact that basically this entire convention plan was thrown out the window on Saturday afternoon. The Republican Party and those who have been here for months, and we have some people on our team who took a leave of absence to be on that team. They've been here for months planning and they had to replant a convention in 24 hours.
They've done a great job and I don't think anybody watching would realize that has been done. Hey, we're about to go to break. We have a second half hour coming up, so don't go anywhere. If you are listening on Trust For Radio and your station doesn't carry our full hour, join us broadcasting live, by the way, each and every day on YouTube, on Rumble, and of course, directly at ACLJ.org.
We do a full hour. You can find us there, of course, archived later on on the podcast feeds. But right now, we're going to take your calls at 1-800-684-3110 coming up. We are at a pivotal moment in the history of the ACLJ. You need to be a part of it.
It's an easy way to do it. Join us during this life and liberty drive. During the month of July, donations are doubled. Your support is crucial for us to engage in our vital legal cases and in the media. Make your voice heard.
Go to ACLJ.org and have your tax-deductible gift doubled today. Keeping you informed and engaged, now more than ever, this is Sekulow. And now your host, Jordan Sekulow. Hey, everybody. Welcome back to Sekulow.
I'm here in my hotel room in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. And again, we're about to head out to more events at the Republican National Convention. They're ongoing all day leading up to the evening events at the convention. I'll try to get some videos up on social media from the convention tonight and from the speech by, of course, Senator J.D.
Vance, now the VP nominee for the Republican Party. I did want to say this, Logan, before I was off the air today. And I encourage people to follow my social media as well throughout the rest of the convention. And that's a reminder that, you know, for us to be here, you know, it's not just me here or my wife, Anna, here.
We have a whole team here. I mean, just moving around the convention, getting around those resources to be with those key individuals, to be seen at the right events, to be, to make sure that as an ACLJ representative, we are letting these top leaders of our country and reminding them about our presence and our influence in the country. We're able to do that because of your support of the ACLJ as well. So we're able to have a big presence here, do events for delegations, meet a lot of donors. You know, a lot of these delegates are donors, Logan, to the ACLJ.
Many of them I meet have been donating since the beginning of the American Center for Law and Justice, so for nearly 30 years. But I encourage people right now during our Life and Liberty drive, though this is not a typical legal work of the ACLJ or even work that we do in Washington, it kind of does connect it to that whole work of that we are always representing you in halls of power. And this week in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the halls of power of the conservative movement are here and the ACLJ is here with a presence at all different levels, multi-staff levels of presence at different events. So I just wanted to make sure, you know, it's not just a couple of us here, and that's because of your support of the American Center for Law and Justice, that we've got the resources to do those events, to bring the team in from around the country throughout the week and have that presence at all those key events, because there's more than one event going on at one time and we're able to do that Logan and Will because of the donors to the ACLJ. And so this Life and Liberty drive where you can again double your donations impact, it's a great time to do it at ACLJ.org slash Life and Liberty because we're going to be in a marathon starting pretty soon leading up to and then a sprint on election day that's going to decide a lot of key issues, including whether or not, we're going to discuss this, whether or not the left tries to pack the US Supreme Court if they are victorious in November.
They're bringing that back as well. Yeah, we're going to talk about it in the next segment. There are major moves in the world of the Supreme Court. We have Harry Hutchinson joining us to break that down. The Biden administration is certainly going for a way to potentially calm down the conservatives on the court by what are they going to do. Of course, pack the court, expand the court, change precedent, and of course we have to be there to fight back against these type of crazy changes that are only happening because of politics. We have to fight back against that. That's why we are right now in the middle of our Life and Liberty drive. Just the travel costs alone.
I want you to understand that. Travel costs alone to bring these teams all over the country and to have them all over the world. When we send someone to the Hague, when we send someone to the UN, it's not just sending one person. You're sending a whole team.
And by the way, I don't know if you know this, with inflation and everything going on, prices of travel, none of this is cheap. None of this can be done for nothing. I'm looking at a crew right now of a dozen people who are working on this broadcast right now, plus another dozen that are outside of the studio walls doing this right now, who are working on just making sure this one hour gets up. So imagine the cost.
We can't do it without you. And I mean that in a real way because the ACLJ is not supported by big advertising. It's not supported by a lot of major donors. There are some who are very appreciative of them, but most of it, the backbone, the core, all comes from individual donors and ACLJ champions. And this is the perfect time to either make that individual donation or join us in ACLJ champion because during Life and Liberty, the Life and Liberty Drive, all donations are doubled. That means there's other donors who are ready to match your funds. If you're able to, though, help us take on these global, legal, and media fights, whether that's for Israel, whether that is for life, whether that is yesterday we did a panel in Milwaukee on the law fair against conservatives.
That's what Jordan Rick Grenell did. We can't do any of this without you. You choose the level of support. Help us keep this content free and available, not behind a paywall. We can do that with you.
Go to ACLJ.org or scan the QR code on the screen. To Secular, we are going to take your calls at 1-800-684-3110 in the next segment. So get in line. A few of you there are on hold right now. John, Gwen, Kathy, stay on hold. We're going to get to you. But we have three lines open.
1-800-684-3110. Harry Hutcherson is joining us in studio. Obviously, Will Haynes is in here as well. Jordan now going off to his RNC festivities. But we're going to break this down because there was some news that came out about the potential changes in the Supreme Court. Now, this is something that happened a few years ago.
We heard about this sort of the rumbles, and it kind of calmed down. But now they're trying to find something to galvanize a base because the Democrats are really in free fall right now. So what are they going to do? Of course, go back to the old tricks of discussing what you can do to change the Supreme Court. What we can do to stop precedent that's been set for a very long time. But of course, it has to do only with politics, and it only has to do with the fact that they don't like that it's more conservative-leaning.
That's right. So we got this report. It came out last night, and it also goes back to apparently a transcript of a call that Biden had where he says, I'm going to need your help on the Supreme Court. This was with the Congressional Progressive Caucus because I'm about to come out, and I don't want to prematurely announce it, but I'm about to come out with a major initiative on limiting the court. So what The Washington Post and others are now reporting is that some of these initiatives will be an attempt to put term limits on the justices, how long they're allowed to serve, as well as creating an enforceable code of ethics for the court. And then they also say that the President is weighing in on a call for a constitutional amendment to eliminate the broad immunity for Presidents, something that would affect him.
So Harry, what we're seeing here is another move. It's obviously a very political move, trying to draw the progressives back on his team as he's lost a lot of their support. But it seems like adding something like term limits through legislation would be a constitutional violation.
I think you're precisely correct. But Joe Biden is trying to prove that he's truly a progressive. How do you prove you're a progressive? By interfering with the constitutional rights of Article III justices. So if you look at Article III of the Constitution, it states that the judicial power of the United States shall be vested in one Supreme Court and in such inferior courts as Congress may from time to time ordain and establish the judges both of the Supreme and inferior courts shall hold their offices during good behavior. So that places a limitation on Joe Biden's power. But nonetheless, he is claiming that he can, through legislation, impact the constitutional power of the United States Supreme Court. In addition to which, of course, the Supreme Court is a co-equal branch of government. And so if I were a Supreme Court justice, probably less limited than the current Supreme Court justices, I would basically send Joe Biden a laugh track.
And I would encourage Joe Biden to do a couple of things. First, read and understand the Constitution itself. And secondly, understand the constitutional limits on the power of both the legislative branch and the President of the United States.
But at the end of the day, what is this move? It's purely political. I don't believe that Joe Biden believes for one second that he's going to get any of this through, but he hopes to galvanize his base in a desperate attempt to prevail in November.
It's sad that a desperate attempt is to unravel one of the major portions of our government and the way that things run, and to do that for just pure political gain. And we're not thinking long term either. It seems always, and specifically with Democrats, that the long term doesn't matter. It's the short term.
So how is this going to affect me? It's impeachment. How is that going to affect Democrats moving forward and Republicans moving forward when you start trivializing impeachment? What happens when a situation happens where Presidential immunity?
How dare they? Well, what about when the fact that it's going to affect you later on? That never seems to be the case. It's always done in the very short term. It's how can it affect the election tomorrow? Because they know their voters also are definitely a bit more concerned about tomorrow, which we all should be, than they are thinking long term strategy. I also think it can't be lost on the listeners and us as well, the irony that Joe Biden, who has effectively had a lifetime appointment of being a political actor his entire career. That's all he's done. He has been a professional politician for his entire career, is wanting to put some term limits on another branch of government.
It's absurd. At a time where you see the catastrophic events of the weekend, you'd think that the President would be more in tune with cleaning up his own house, the executive branches of the Department of Homeland Security, the Secret Service, trying to get to the bottom of the failure of security that could have had lasting implications on democracy, something that they are so concerned about preserving. But instead, at that time, it's not let me look at this, it's going to be let me attack a co-equal branch and try to limit their power and influence.
And actually, who cares about what the text of the Constitution says? I think we can do this legislatively. Hey, give us a call right now.
1-800-684-3110. When you hear about these changes to something like the Supreme Court, I know we are dealing with a lot this week, whether it's the RNC, whether it's a follow-up from the assassination attempt. There's so much happening.
We can't let these little things just pass by. That's why we have people like Harry, we have this incredible team here of legal experts who are working in the ACLJ nonstop, 24 hours, couldn't do it without you and your support. And look, I usually do this pitch at the end. I'm going to do this pitch right here. Support the work of the ACLJ. Do it right now as we're talking. Be a part of the Life and Liberty Drive. You can do it right now. Just scan that QR code if you're watching on YouTube or Rumble. If you're brand new, by the way, I'm going to ask you to do that right now. Make your donations double.
That's it. You know why. You know why we're here. But I am going to encourage you right now, if you're brand new to this show, or maybe you've been watching a little bit from time to time, but you haven't fully engaged, whatever platform you're watching on or listening on, subscribe on that platform. So if you're on YouTube, hit that subscribe button, hit the little thumbs up and hit the alerts. We broadcast this show each and every day.
That really helps as well. While we encourage you to obviously support the work financially, and of course we do, there are a lot of you who are brand new, and I'm not asking you who are brand new to do it. If you feel so compelled, great.
But if not, just do it. 418,000 people subscribe to our YouTube channel. Over 200,000 subscribe to our Rumble channel. You understand that those numbers are more and reaching more than CNN, reaching more than a lot of cable news. That is on a platform like Rumble, on a platform like YouTube, where we have to obviously, sometimes with YouTube you've got to be a little careful, but where there's no middleman here, we're able to go directly to you.
We're not advertiser supported. We are supported by you, the ACLJ donor and supporter. And that is pretty incredible. That is showing how we change mainstream media, because we have seen now the impact on the mainstream media can happen so quickly.
Whether that is quickly deciding Joe Biden needs to be replaced, or whether that is obviously some of the blame being pointed at them due to this assassination attempt, just due to the rhetoric that has come out of both sides of the political spectrum in terms of the mainstream news. You can be a part of that change. Be a part of it now.
Go to ACLJ.org. Be a part of it today during this life and liberty drive where everything is matched. But when the issues like the Supreme Court come up, this is where our team can get involved in even a higher level and in a level that maybe you're not used to, because you're used to hearing talking heads and pundits who are going to come on here and have a conversation.
They're not going to actually put the work in. And that is where our team is different. And that's where people like Harry and people like our incredible legal team that you hear on here, whether that is CC or Jordan or Kristy or anyone on our team. That's why we have the ACLJ. The ACLJ is here as a legal organization because these kind of moments, they kind of may get overlooked in the news. Packing the court, sure it becomes news, but not right now. Not when you have such a big moment for a J.D.
Vance and for a President Trump. But we have to be there. I want to just encourage people who maybe don't know about our legal work, just to give them an understanding of how vast it is and why it's important for us to be here. It's extremely important in part because the ACLJ is committed to two things, the rule of law and the Constitution. And so we have been discussing the imposition of term limits on the United States Supreme Court. Listeners should note that the United States Supreme Court has already ruled with respect to term limits on Congress. And it has said that you cannot amend the term limits rules with respect to Congress unless you change the United States Constitution.
Joe Biden ought to go back and read that decision of the United States Supreme Court. And one of the things that the ACLJ does is we try to insist that members of the executive branch and even the judiciary actually read the Constitution and they understand the rule of law. And so we encourage listeners to continue to support the ACLJ going forward.
That's right. And we will be taking your phone calls coming up. So I always say we hear from incredible voices. We've heard from Tulsi Gabbard, we've heard from Jordan, we've heard from Will, we've heard from Harry today.
That's just Dave, of course me. We've heard from all of these incredible experts. But now we get to hear from the most important voice.
And that is from you, the listener, the supporter, the American people. We're going to turn the tables. Your turn to talk. Got three lines open right now. Perfect time to call is during this break that's coming up. 1-800-684-3110. We're going to take as many calls as we can.
When you know J.D. Vance is going to be taking the stage tonight, what do you want to hear from him as a potential future leader in the Republican Party? What do you want to hear from President Trump coming up on Thursday? What's important right now?
Should we call for a great state of unity? Give us a call right now. 1-800-684-3110.
Welcome back to Secular. We are going to be taking your calls at 1-800-684-3110. Still two lines open, so give us a call. Let's go ahead and kick it off with Gwen, who's calling in the state of Georgia. Gwen, you're on the air. Hold on. Gwen, now you're on the air. Thank you for taking my call. Go ahead.
Thank you. I was just wondering, who can be trusted to protect President Trump if it's the Biden administration in charge of that protection? Because our perimeter was not covered. Yeah, Gwen, obviously those conversations about investigations are going to be occurring right now. It seems like there was definitely a failure to protect the President, President Trump. In that situation, I think that that's very clear. I don't even think this is a question right now.
It's now how did it happen and what will it look like going forward? We know that they are up to security. Look, it's tough.
You're at outdoor events. You have a lot of people who are very upset with you. You have a lot of people who support you. You have a lot of security issues. It is maybe harder than it seems, but this was a situation where it definitely seems like a big failure from the Secret Service and from the police force there, unfortunately.
Do I think anyone went into this intentionally trying to do this, intentionally trying to not protect? No, I don't think that's the case, but I think sometimes we get comfortable. You forget that this can happen in your life.
Gwen is someone who is close to 40. The only time that something like this happened was Reagan and I was very little or not even born yet. So it's easy to say, it's easy to forget that this kind of moment can still occur. And I think this should be a big wake up call. I think also we will learn a lot more on Monday because House Oversight Committee will have the Director of Secret Service as well as other officials testifying before them. But right now there are two competing narratives coming out of the Secret Service. One is that we're hearing there was a known from intelligence threat against President Trump of an Iranian plot to assassinate him. And so we're being told that they had boosted security for the former President.
But on the other hand, you're also hearing that it wasn't the same team that he normally has because they've been working so much and they try to say he's doing too many events, so we're taxed, our resources are taxed. And that we weren't able to fully protect and have as many resources because there was also the First Lady was in Philadelphia, so in the same state. So you're hearing two competing narratives from the same agency that one, we've been protecting him more because we knew there was a threat and then also our resources were strained.
That hopefully we'll find out on Monday, but I agree with Gwen, right now there's not a big show of confidence from this administration that whether the FBI investigating it, whether the Secret Service ongoing, it's concerning. Look, it's even the sad time where of course now RFK Jr. gets Secret Service protection. It had to be after an assassination attempt on the former President of the United States. He couldn't just approve that, couldn't just get that going for someone who was polling with significant percentage, drawing big crowds, someone whose family, his father and his uncle, two of the most famous political assassinations of all time.
But of course he doesn't get that until it's honestly kind of too late. Sure, I'm sure he's very happy, very pleased to have Secret Service protection. Don't get me wrong in that, but it is a sad situation where it had to come to this for us to say, no, we're going to protect even our political rivals when it's important. Obviously, President Trump has Secret Service protection. He will for the rest of his life just as a former President.
That's just the part of the deal, but clearly a major blunder there. Let's go ahead and continue on. Phone lines still are open, 1-800-684-3110. John in New York, you're on the air. Two quick comments about last night. Every DNC, every RNC has a memorable moment and I think after the headline speakers are done, some people go to the refrigerator. I think the two people who spoke last evening, the gentleman father who lost his daughter and the African American woman who lost her son, a veteran, I think those were two powerful moments. For sure, because they were so heartfelt and so genuine tied to the policies that President Trump has that are sensible and preserve life and liberty. That's the first thing I'd like to say.
And for those of you who didn't see them, go back and see the tape because they're pretty powerful. As far as the unity is concerned tonight, I'm one of those people who support the Trump platform, but I think given the fact that President Trump has come so close to an assassination success, I feel as if when persons come so close to death like that, I think a moment of contrition could help him. I think if there's a moment to be had tonight and he could express perhaps some apologies to some of the things that he said in the past, I'm going to vote President Trump.
Pure and simple. However, I think apologies are in order to Megyn Kelly, Gold Star families, a reporter who had cerebral palsy. Now, those things happened in the past, I get it, but I think if we can see a side of him that would say, hey, listen, I was really wrong in these areas in terms of character issues. I think there's some redemption there and we are a forgiving people, but I think that could bridge the gap for sure. I think that needs to be said and I'm praying for him. Yeah, Jon, I don't mean to cut you off because I love your comments, but I want to get some more calls before we have to wrap up the show. But Jon, I think there is a real moment here where you're right, where I think President Trump can really start reaching out and getting people who maybe weren't even engaged in voting this time around to really click on and engage because they have been thinking about it. And then Saturday, all things changed and they realized what could have happened and what that would have meant. You're going to probably make fun of me in the chat. I'm probably going to say this.
Chris Cuomo did a great pitch about this, about what would have happened, what it would have looked like if it was successful, if the assassination of Tim happened, and what would have the American people's response been and how would it have been done. And he said he stress ate four ice cream sandwiches in the moment. It was a real vulnerable moment where I watched it go. That's how a lot of people felt. You just got overwhelmed with stress.
You got overwhelmed with the anxiety of what was happening right now because we are at such a boiling point in this country that we need that tone to calm down. We've heard it for a week, but it's true. We really do. We need to respect people even if we disagree with them. I know you're not going to like that always, but we need to. And I mean that from both sides. A lot of times, trust me, it feels like it comes from one side to us.
It does. But we do need to call for that. Let's go ahead and take another call. Kathy's calling on Line 5 in Kentucky. You're on the air. Thank you for this time. I just have to say that I am so thrilled that President Trump has chosen J.D.
Vance. And from what I hear about his VP pick, he comes from a background that my family, my kids and I are familiar with. As a senior mom of three millennials myself, I have to say that I have learned so much from them. And I have a great prayer walk with them.
And we just communicate openly and about anything. I love this comment. I hate this that we are out of time. We are out of time. Unfortunately, I have to cut you off. But I think a lot of people feel that way about J.D.
Vance. I think a lot of people feel like they can relate to his story. Great story. Even if you disagree with his issues, the guy's got a heck of a back story.
So take a look at that. Be a part of it. I'm going to watch tonight with great interest because I'm very interested in what he has to say. And hey, maybe he can be the savior to the millennial generation as we've been thrown around quite a bit.
Maybe we need someone who can stick up and say, hey, you know, we're not so bad after all. Thanks for listening to the ACLJ and to Sekulow today. Be a part of the ACLJ's Life and Liberty Drive. Make that donation at ACLJ.org. Scan the QR code on your screen. We will talk to you tomorrow with more.
