This is the Truth Network. Welcome to Running with Horses, a podcast devoted to inspire you, concerning a relationship with Almighty God that empowers you to accomplish things you never thought possible. Shirley Weaver wants to take you there. And now, here's today's episode. Welcome to the podcast.

My name is Shirley Weaver. Glad you are here. Today is if you are in the millennial generation, the Gen X or Gen Z generation, either of the three, you're going to really love what we're covering here. We're talking covenant mercy, the God who keeps covenant with you, an inheritance which you may or may not realize.

We'll just look into that as we're talking about the power of God, the way He displays His power, which is one expression of His great love for you. And as we do that today, we believe that the generations together make up the whole picture. Can't do one without the other.

That's for sure. So here we go. The God who keeps covenant and shows mercy. Actually, the phrase came up in prayer this week.

There's a little chorus we used to sing. He is the God who keeps covenant and showeth, which would be King James, mercy. But here's the thing, here's the point, because as it came forth in prayer, I realized the heart of God is this way because the next thing that we know about the covenant keeping God that shows mercy in many passages throughout the Bible, Old and New Testament, is this aspect of a thousand generations.

So here's the deal. For the person, for the person that does not have a history with God, that person can always look back into the generations, at some point discover a praying father, praying mother, praying great, great, great, great grandfather or great, great, great, great grandmother, whatever. You know, there's this element of God watching for a thousand generations. That is vast.

That's huge. The comparison is that a curse, a curse that, you know, the enemy is responsible for, curses do not ever come from God. A curse works through the agency of Satan only.

But that expression, the expression of curse only is mentioned to the second and the third generation, the second and the third. So you see, there's always this element of God judge, leveraging, he is leveraging, almost said judging, didn't mean that at all. He is always leveraging, leveraging a way to work into the generation, the message of his love.

He does it with his power, his demonstrations of power. And here's the point today. If you are in the millennial generation, even the Gen X, Gen Z generations, and I'll give you some specifics there. This is, this is your time. You are sitting on a powder keg, really, in my view, I would call it a powder keg of power that has been bequeathed to you. It is your inheritance has been handed to you. So just a little explanation here. A millennial, you hear a lot about millennials, right?

Beginning in 1981 until 1996. So we're talking ages 27 to 42, ages 27 to 42, the millennial generation. So if that's you, that's who I'm talking to. And then there is the Gen X generation beginning 1965 through 1980, those ages 43 to 58, 43 to 58. Those are the Gen Xers, so they are just slightly older than the millennial generation.

And just beneath are the Gen Z, Gen Z, Generation G. This is the demographic after the millennials, basically 1996 to the present, ages 27 and younger. So speaking to you, what has been bequeathed to you, and we just realize, you know, we have to realize and understand that the children of those who have gone ahead, the children, you millennials, Gen Z, Gen Xers, you are demonstrations of God's faithfulness. He is the God that keeps covenant and shows mercy.

How are you a demonstration? Your life is a demonstration of God's patience. Your life is a demonstration of His forgiveness. And your life is a demonstration that He is determined to prove in your life to you, to prove to you that He is God and He is the God who keeps covenant and shows you mercy, not only giving you the covenant, bequeathed to you as a gift of understanding from your parent who has a history with God. And that is not to say that there's any way to the Father except through the Son for each individual.

I'm saying the experience, the teaching, the example, the demonstration. Why are we talking about this? Because you know in some places this whole inheritance has been undermined. It's been disparaged in some places. Lord forgive us, despised, really despised. You know, don't give me that old time religion.

Well look, that old time religion, it's actually been proven probably more than you realize. And there is a deposit downloadable for you that is vast. And you don't want to skip over this. Don't want to miss it.

Don't want to miss out on it. So this is the way that those of us who have children, this is how we pray. We pray over our children. Father, your kingdom come and your will be done today in the life.

And we name Mary, Susie, Harry, Joe, whatever the name of our children. Because see, we know to do that. We know that your name held before God is a powerhouse. Because He promises to pay attention to the things that we hold before Him as parents.

So it's a now request based on a future possibility. Your kingdom come, your will be done. And we just pray that God will show to our children the steps that He has for each one. And to assure them personally, you know, down in their heart. Not something that I have said or a parent has said only, but something that is revealed in your heart. We ask Him to pour out a spirit of revelation and understanding in the knowledge of His will right into the heart of each child.

That can be a child in the home, an adult child, doesn't matter. See, this thing is set up for a thousand generations. A thousand generations. God, pour out your heart directly into the heart of each descendant of mine. That their lives and what they experience in their life is going to obviously include things that are devilish and tragic. Boy, is that an understatement in the day that we're living in.

But because we know that the enemy is plotting to work those things in, those devilish and tragic things, we say, God, reveal the greater force. Reveal the way that you love them. Reveal to them your love for not only them, but those that they care about. You know, one thing about younger people, whatever your generation, you care about your friends.

You really, really do. I've even heard some argument from some of my younger friends. They really don't want to pursue God or His kingdom, even His plan for eternity, because they realize that their friends might be left behind, might not get that opportunity. Well, you see, God has a way of working His way into the life of each one. You think you love your friend, your comrades, as it were, those that you work alongside your colleagues. I don't know if comrade is the right word. Maybe colleague is a better word. Yeah, that's a better one right there.

We'll use colleague. You know, we care about our friends. But listen, God is saying that He will pour out His love to a thousand generations. So no tragedy can stop and is not greater than God's love, His power for each one. A couple of verses here that are meaningful to me, I'll just throw them out for you to make note. And if you have your Bible handy, be sure to look these up. Don't be afraid to mark in your Bible. Draw circles around the words that stand out. Write in the little bit of margin that you have.

Put a sticky note in there. Elaborate on what God shows you. First of all, look at Malachi 2.15. Did He not make them one with a portion of the Spirit in their union? And what was the one God seeking? Godly offspring. This is God's plan for bringing together a man and a woman and producing that little baby. We each were that little baby at one time, right?

Well, here's the plan. This is what God intended, that He put two people together to make them one and He put the Spirit in their union because He was seeking Godly offspring. You are the Godly offspring He was seeking.

Malachi 2.15. Because in more than one place, God wants to keep covenant. He wants to show you mercy. Places like Deuteronomy 7, 1 Kings 8, Nehemiah 1, Nehemiah 9, Psalm 105, just to name a few. So I'll read Psalm 105, verse 8. He remembers His covenant forever, the word which He commanded for a thousand generations. Psalm 105, 8. And then, 1 Kings 8, verse 23, Lord God of Israel, there is no God in heaven above or on earth below like you who keep your covenant and mercy with your servants who walk before you with all of their hearts. 1 Kings 8, 23, God reveals His covenant and His mercy to the servants who walk before Him, that's your parents, grandparents, great grandparents, back a thousand generations who walk before you with all their heart. And you can believe there is one because God's plan will not be usurped.

He wants that Godly offspring. Deuteronomy 7, several verses here we're going to really look at, Deuteronomy 7, 9 through 16. Therefore, verse 9, know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations to those who love Him and keep His commandments. Verse 11, therefore, you shall keep the commandment, the statutes and the judgments which I command you today to observe them. Remember that verse, you keep the commandments, the statutes and the judgments that God has commanded.

Make a mental note right there. We'll come back to that verse. And then verse 12 of Deuteronomy 7, the next verse, then it shall come to pass because you do listen to these judgments and keep and do them that the Lord your God will keep with you the covenant and the mercy which He swore to your fathers. Verse 13, and He will love you and bless you and multiply you according to the way that He swore to your fathers to give to you. Verse 14 of Deuteronomy 7, you, it was your grandparents, those in a thousand generations before you, but now you are blessed above all peoples. And verse 15, and the Lord will take away from you sickness and will afflict you with none of the terrible diseases of Egypt, which you have known about. And lastly, verse 16, you shall not serve other gods for they will be a snare to you. So the covenant is passed down. God's mercy is poured out on you.

And in fact is new every morning. All of this is possible. This is the potential. This is the possibility here, but it's up to you. Don't serve the other gods that are out there in the culture because you'll be ensnared. You'll miss out on the covenant, miss out on His mercy, miss out on the healing, miss out on the deliverance from curses you see. And you know, I can almost hear someone saying, well, listen, it already seems like that now. It seems like I don't have protection from those things.

You have no idea if God moved His hand of protection that is in place because He is covenant keeping on behalf of the fathers who went ahead of you and that His mercy is on you every day. You have no idea what it would be like. Now that is just a fact. Trust me, trust me. And you know, I think the expression fits right here that you're really standing on their shoulders, that they fought battles you will never have to fight. They labored in fields you will never know. They paid a price you will never have to pay. And they literally have built a foundation upon a foundation upon layer upon layer upon layer where you are now positioned to stand on their shoulders, you know, like we did as children when our parents would put us on their shoulders so we could see above the crowd. Probably most of you have had that experience. It's a dear memory, isn't it? See, this is your inheritance concerning sickness and disease, the heartbreak in relationships, the disasters and tragedies that are happening daily, multiple times daily, that God's covenant is His plan and with it comes His mercy. That is on display right now in and with you.

It is His great power shown to you. So I have a closing prayer right here. Actually, actually let's call this a declaration for you as a millennial, a Gen Z or Gen X-er. Here's your, here's your demonstrative declaration prayer.

Here you go. I am a demonstration of God's faithfulness to my family, that He is patient with me and with my family, that He forgives me when I am wrong. The Lord has proved in my life that He is the God who keeps covenant and shows mercy and today I believe that. I stake my claim and I claim my inheritance and I believe, Father, that Your kingdom comes and Your will is done both now and prophetically throughout eternity so that You have set Your love upon me. I see it and You show me the right steps, each step to walk right into my future. You reveal to me that Your hand is strongly on my life. So I pray today for my family today asking You to pour out Your Spirit of revelation and understanding in the knowledge of Your will right into their hearts. Write directly, download it into my heart. Deliver me and my family and my generation from the things that are devilish and so full of tragedy all around me.

The paths are beset with those things. Lord, deliver me, deliver me and reveal Your love plus the way that You are waiting to show Your love to all of those like me affected by any intrusion by the enemy, affected by any tragedy which always is the result of Satan's cruelty. Lord, I say that the revelation of Your love is greater than anything. I see it today even more and will continue to see increasingly Your love poured out into my life. I declare it today. I draw a line in the sand today and make this declaration.

I make this statement of my faith and I press into You, the God who keeps covenant and shows me mercy. Thanks for listening.
