Now this is a series about the real Jesus, who Jesus really is, not the Jesus of popular opinion, but the Jesus of the Bible, God himself, who stepped into our world. And in this message, we're going to see that Jesus is also the creator of everything around us. You see, when we look at the world, we're really facing a choice. Either everything came from random accidents, or it came from a designer. and the evidence we see in creation points us straight to Jesus Christ.
So today, Pastor Jack teaches us that Jesus Christ isn't just present in creation, he is the creator of it. The Lord who made the heavens and the earth is the very same Jesus Christ who came to redeem us, and that changes everything that we've been led to believe about our existence.
Now, with his message called Christ and His Creation, here's Pastor and Bible teacher Jack Hibbs. The two Bibles, one is written here on your lap. Bound in leather? The other is the universe that is both around us and outside the walls of this church. What do you mean?
Meaning that you could go outside, and if you are intellectually honest. You can pluck a leaf off of a liquid amber tree that's out front here and put it under the scrutiny of an electron microscope. And find data so vast and so mind-boggling. Technology is so fantastic. That it's greater than the technology used to put the shuttle up into space and, in fact, even build it.
It's a technology more advanced than a blade of grass that man cannot produce it. Yeah, we can produce Atomic watches that we have on our wrists. And nobody would ever say that a watch arose by spontaneous chances. And yet the very creature Who stands? At the precipice of decision, the human.
Has been duped into an idea that evolution is, in fact, scientific when today. In the advancement of modern sciences, that science itself is saying, as you'll see, that Darwinism and evolution is bunk. It's amazing. It's exciting. Look with me at our first Delve into this, Christ and his creation, and that is the creation testifies of God.
Listen, creation has to testify of something. Does it testify of evolution or does it testify of God?
Well, let's take a look and see. The first thing that we see is that the Bible presumes a special creation. You ought to write down special creation. You're going to hear it a lot in the future. The Bible presumes.
What do I mean by that? First of all, Genesis chapter 1, verse 1. My friend, if you can get past the first verse of the Bible, it's downhill from there on. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Doesn't apologize for it, doesn't put its tongue in its cheek about it, states it as a fact.
In the beginning, that is of the material universe, God created the heavens and the earth. Don't uh Ask me to explain it. We don't know how. We can't. When it says God, it is Elohim.
El, God, him plural. A singular plurality. That's, by the way, a hint concerning who the Creator is. In the beginning, God, who is a singular plurality, go figure in the Hebrew language, whoever he is, he's one, but there's a plurality of it. That God who's one Is both father, son, And Holy Spirit, God is one.
So the Bible declares. God created the heavens and the earth. No apology. States it as a fact. In fact, the ancient world assumes this to be true.
It doesn't matter what culture you go into, if it's not the Hebrew or the Oriental custom of that realm, if you go into places. removed, far removed from the cradle of civilization, that era of the Middle East. And you go to the extenuating areas of the world, and you look at those ancient cultures. They believed in God or gods having created. And so the Bible presumes a special creation.
In Isaiah chapter 40, verse 28, he says, Do you not know? Have you not heard that the Lord is the everlasting God? He is the creator of the ends of the earth. And he will not grow tired or weary. And his understanding you cannot fathom.
I like that.
Well, I want a God I can handle.
Well then go think of some cult god that you can handle. Because the Bible says about the God of the Bible, he's past finding out. What a challenge to us. Concerning creation, it's either evolution, a series of accidents that has brought you here today. Or it is what is called special creation.
Where there is an advanced design engineer. If you don't want to call him God, just for argument's sake, can you just think right now and write it down any way you want, designer? Engineer. Planner. Because there's nothing that you can point to in this world that is void of a designer.
Nothing. The seat you're sitting on was in the concept of a man's mind first or a woman's mind, and it was then generated. The carpet, the screens, the computer, the camera. And if these things are all lesser, Then it's creator. Then you take a look at the humanity that you and I are.
And you look at the evolutionary claim, or you look at the pure declaration of the Bible. And you've got to make a decision, friend. And the first thing that we want to see is that the evidence. Of The natural world around us is assumed in the Bible, or as I said, presumed. Very, very important.
Romans chapter 1, verse 20. It says, For since the creation of the world, his invisible attributes are clearly seen. being understood by the things which he has made. That means every human has got that internal Witness. But this special creation speaks of this: that there's an intelligence to the creation.
There's a functionality to it. And there's a meaningful purpose to it.
Now get this. In creation, what do we find? If we take an approach to the physical evidence that is out there, what do we find? You know what? Right now, not right now, but after the service, you can drive up here by.
Aerojet up in the Chino Hills, right back back behind my house. And you can go up that road, it's a paved road, you can pull over to the side and take a stick and begin digging in the dirt. And there are millions and millions, probably hundreds of millions of fossils there. of shellfish. Millions of them.
I mean, it's ridiculous. It's hilarious. There's so many. All of them found in their Actual state. There's none with one leg sticking out.
There's no shell with one maybe antenna. Our antennae There's no half salamander and half snake or bird or whatever. There's no transitional forms found. In the fossil records, as we read in books. There's none!
You can travel to every museum in the world. You will not find one fossil record of a transitional form. What do I mean? Things are found in their present order, their state. Either it has died because it is ancient, or it exists today.
And you can look at it. Example, there is. They were uh Fossils of ancient snails, giant ancient snails. We don't have giant ancient snails today, but they're perfect snails. Are you with me?
They're not snails with a nose. And then, maybe a couple of million years later, they're a snail with a nose and a thumb.
Well, it's ridiculous.
Well, let me put it this way. We're being told recently now in the latest National Geographic. That Scientists believe And of course, if a scientist believes that, gosh, it must be true. That at one point in time A lizard. Or a snake, one or the other.
Gave birth or hatched its young And it was covered in feathers. And as it advanced, it went from the reptilian world to the flying world. This is Todd's. Nobody dares question it because It's science. I want to show you this morning that it's not science at all.
Listen, before we get too much into this, we'd better be critical thinkers. You don't mean with that? Think hard. And ask why.
Now let's go and we need to go very quickly. The Bible presumes a special creation. Also, the evidence confirms creation. What do we mean by that?
Well If we look at the astronomical account of things that is in the area of astrophysics, we are now finding out from the Hubble telescope that the universe, in fact, the universes, Plural, the cosmoses, if you could say it that way. All had a point of origination, that they are all expanding outwardly. In fact, so much so that, what is it? It is a little bit after 12 right now. In 24 hours from right now, you and I will have traveled 1 million miles through deep space.
than where we are at right now in twenty four hours, we will be occupying a place in space that we've never occupied before, and every twenty four hours we go another million miles. Think of the universe in the back of a flatbed 18-wheeler, and it's going down the freeway. That's what you and I are doing right now at about a little over 1,200 miles an hour on our axis. Spinning. Isn't that wild?
This thing called the Big Bang Theory, because everything's expanding outward. God says in the prophet Isaiah, He says in Isaiah chapters 40 through 45, He says, I've created the heavens and the earth, and I have stretched them out. Out. And yet, that's exactly what science shows us: that something happened. It's called the Big Bang to those who don't believe, or the Big God to those who do.
When It was created. In the day that it was created, God sent it into motion. And you can do the math in reverse. And back up and Astrophysicists have done this and they found out that the Earth must be and the universe must be much younger than we ever earlier were taught.
Well, when that news was announced, The paleontologists and the anthropologists went nuts because they're trying to figure out where man came from. And so they need an older earth.
So we have an earth that is required to be older than its universe. The sciences are in debate one with another. Because there's the hard empirical evidence of what they're finding out. In astrophysics, Versus what evolutionists need to adopt. And there's a big conflict.
Isn't that interesting?
Well, what should really reign? Science, true science, good science. Should be the governor.
Now, the fact of the matter is That there's a big problem. And one of the arguments given to us regarding God as being creator is that the fossil records show that we have evolved. That is absolutely not true. There are no fossil records of what is called transitional forms, not a one. There is not one in the world.
And you would think if over the millions and gazillions of years, That they argue about that there'd be one fossil of a transitional form in some museum found by somebody somewhere, and there are none. And now, let's get back to today's message. Once again, here's Pastor Jack. Consider this also. The creation agrees with its creator. The creation testifies of God.
How so? The Bible presumes it, states it bluntly, the evidence. Of creation is all around us. We just need to look. And the creation itself agrees with God, agrees with its creator.
How so? Simply like this. And I know this is fundamental, but it sure is accurate. I have in my backyard a family. Of woodpeckers.
They're noisy. They're fun to watch, but those guys are crazy. They're hilarious. And you can always tell when they're in the backyard because you hear this. And you can go out there and watch them.
They're beautiful. They're black and white speckled with a red head and black wings. And you say, what does this have to do with the study? It has everything to do with it. Did you know that the tongue of a woodpecker wraps around its brain eight times.
So what? Did you know that when that woodpecker goes to hit the tree, it flexes its tongue? And the brain, because of inertia, the head's going one way. When it stops against the tree, That tongue acts in a way as a buffer and keeps the brain gently, lightly floating so it doesn't become bruised. And scientists have proven that if it was wrapped five times, the woodpecker would kill itself with one hit.
If it was wrapped six times, he would kill himself. If it was wrapped seven times around the brain, it would kill itself. Guess what? Eight times is just right. And guess what?
Guess why it can't be nine times? Because there's not enough cranial capacity between the brain and the skull to. accommodate a ninth loop of the tongue. Isn't evolution smart?
Well, how about this? Evolution tells us that on the lump of what was going to be our head, In times past, that we got an irritant and we began to rub the irritant with our flipper. An art flipper in rubbing the irritant turned this sandy. irritating thing into an eye. And amazingly enough, the eye Announced to itself, I see 2020.
Stop rubbing, stop rubbing.
Now That's very cool.
Now stop we'll start rubbing on this side Rub on this side now. and create an eye. That is ridiculous when your eye is one of the most advanced pieces of technology in the world. It has to be created in a perfect steady state arena. It cannot evolve.
It's impossible. That's mathematically impossible. And according to the law of entropy and the second law of thermodynamics, it is impossible because the world, the observable and invisible universe, the microscopic, universe that we know of scientifically. is going from an ordered state to chaos. Its definition, the second law of thermodynamics.
You know this is true when you buy a new car, tragically enough. You buy that thing, you take it home, and then a month later it just doesn't look as new as it did a month earlier. Why? Entropy. Scientifically, the moment a baby is born, that baby is on a path to die.
Okay. Aging process. The universe declares this. Concerning the fossil records, my friend, there is no transitional form, it doesn't exist. And that is a very, very important thing, something that people need to realize and understand.
And the thing is, we are told that they exist, but no one questions such a thing. The next thing that we want to consider is a couple of announcements that we want to look at. Take a look at this. This is Dr. Corner.
Professor of Botany at Cambridge University. I believe that to the unprejudiced, the fossil record is clearly in favor of a special creation. If evolution occurred, there should be some subtle appearances of various creatures in the fossil record, with transitional forms linking them together. This man is not a Christian. He's a professor of botany at Cambridge University.
Also this, Dr. David Pilbeam of Yale University. He's a paleontologist. He says, I know that, at least in paleoanthropology. Data are still so sparse that the evolutionary theory heavily influences our interpretation.
The evolutionary theory clearly reflects ideology rather than actual data. Did you hear that? Can you see it? Read it for yourself. These quotes originate from non-Christian writings.
This is important stuff. The second thing that we want to consider this morning is that Jesus is the creation over his creation. Yes, that's true. Jesus is in fact the creator. The Bible says in the book of Hebrews, chapter 1.
Verses 1 and 2, God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the worlds. That's pretty clear, don't you think? What about uh Revelation 4.11? Revelation 4.11 says, You alone are worthy, that is the Lamb of God. O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power, for you have created all things and by your will.
They exist and were created. That's very exciting.
Well, consider this. God says he is the designer of life. That Jesus Christ is both the author and the finisher of not only faith. but of life itself. John's Gospel says that Jesus is the giver of life.
Interesting, Charles Darwin said, if you have enough matter and enough time and enough energy, It will equal life. Matter plus time plus energy equals life. Did you know that that's impossible? You can have all the matter in the known universe. You can have all the time that eternity can afford.
You can have all of the energy. Generated. But until you insert the factor of concept or design, it will produce nothing but a series of accidents that will never result. And anything intelligent? Functional or useful?
How so? If you put even the parts of a model, go down to the store and buy a model and put it in a room and put it on a shaker and get a lightning bolt, because Darwin talks about that, and charge it with a bit of energy and shake it up and give it some time, even though the model has already been pre-engineered to fit together. Do you know what happens when the wing plugs in accidentally to the fuselage? The moment it comes in with the next shake, it does what? According to the laws of thermodynamics, it must come apart.
The windshield of that fighter plane might land on the Nose or the front of that aircraft, but the moment it lands with the nick shake, it comes off. We know this to be true in science. You remove concept, design, engineering, and Darwin has nothing. But you see, it's an exciting alternative to take if you don't want to think about God. And plus you can make a a living at it, I guess.
It's very, very important. Listen, also this. God says that He's the creator of life. He's the creator of life. He's the giver of life.
Even in the medical world, in the areas of. Of uh Medical research, it is God. And any physician Any research physician. Talks about this mystery of life. It's no mystery.
It's the Lord. God says also that Jesus is the sustainer of life. Colossians chapter 1, verses 15 through 17 tells us that Jesus Christ is the exact likeness of the unseen God. He existed before God made anything else Christ himself is the creator. Verse 16 says, who made everything in heaven and in earth?
And it goes on to say in verse 17 that by him all things are held together. This is the Lord who we know. This is the Lord of the Bible. Do we see evidence of this? Yes.
It's intelligent. Listen. For now, friend, if you're struggling with this, divorce yourself from Calvary Chapel, divorce yourself from the Catholic Church, divorce yourself from the Baptist or Methodist, divorce yourself from that. And just for a moment, consider the evidence that is around us and the evidence of who we are, both of the past and present and the future. It screams God, it screams designer, it screams engineer.
Don't make it Don't make an intellectual decision based upon some kind of mishap of the past that maybe a Sunday school teacher upset your feelings, so now you don't believe in God, you believe in evolution. What are you, nuts? That Sunday school teacher didn't die for your sins, and that Sunday school teacher is not your creator. God is. And if God's the Creator, don't you think the evidence should be known?
Oh, it is? But It's open to a lot of speculation by those who don't want to believe. And that's okay. That's man's.
Sovereign choice. But don't you dare say that you're not a creationist? because of the overwhelming intellectual evidence. and the empirical facts of it all. You can't do that.
It's a moral decision on your part. It's a spiritual decision on your part. If you want to look at the evidence, you'll become a creationist, and I hope. Meet the Creator. Who is Jesus himself?
