The Hope Diamond is widely believed to be cursed with stories of misfortune and tragedy befalling those who own or simply touch it. Its history dates back to India, where it was first discovered, and has been passed down through various owners, including the French royal family and the Smithsonian Institution. The diamond's legend has been fueled by stories of its supposed curse, which has been attributed to a Hindu deity. Despite its reputation, the Hope Diamond has been the subject of much fascination and has been displayed at the Smithsonian Institution for many years.
