Hey everybody, welcome to the show. It's me, Matt Slick, and your list of Matt Slick Live. If you want to give me a call, as usual, all you got to do. Ew, his dial 8772072276. I want to hear from you.
Give me a call. We have nobody waiting right now and uh Let's see. I think that's everything. You know, I just check outside and I had to run a couple things. I got a little by schedule today, but I love the weather here in Idaho sometimes.
And right now, it's. And it's it's heavy sprinkle drops. With weather that's about 90 degrees and it's not humid, it is awesome. It is so awesome. I'm just really going to kick out of the weather here.
And anyway, Idaho. From Southern California. You know, I used to live in San Diego, and it was illegal to get below 60. In San Diego, and our weather, we had winter on a Tuesday, sometimes Tuesday and a Wednesday, and that was it. We were done.
Anyway, moved up here. My wife, late wife, she really didn't She wasn't looking forward to the seasons and stuff up here, but we moved up here because we couldn't afford a home down there on ministry salary and stuff like that. We could not afford it and moved up here. The Lord's been gracious, been here about 22 years. And my wife passed away eight months ago, and her kids are out of state and got a nice house.
And the Lord's treated us very well. He's been very compassionate and good with us.
Now, having said all of that ramblation, if you want to give me a call, all you got to do is dial 87720722. seven, six. All right, now Uh so I released a uh An outline yesterday. I don't know if I talked about it or not, but on philosophy and It's, you can go to carm.org forward slash outlines, forward slash outlines plural, and you can go look at that. And the reason uh what I'm doing lately is I am um I am um Releasing a lot of my notes because one of the things I do is I collect lots and lots of notes.
And uh Clarity. And oh now, well, collect. I kind of arrange things and I do them in alphabetical order usually. Not always, but usually. Depending on on the type of outline.
In Reformed Theology, I do it topically, but uh most everywhere else I do it. I do it um alphabetically. And so what I did with the philosophy outline is uh it took me three days to release it, to get everything right, so that when you look at it, you can go to the top of the page, find a link. uh topic you can click it'll go right to it And you can read what it is and problems with it.
Now the reason I did that Or to even develop the outline as I do with basically all my outlines, is because I actually spend real time on real. Uh well uh I don't know. chat rooms, various things. And So I I will often have my my outlines open. and I just take notes.
On some of the things that are said By um Boy, I got some feedback in here on some weird stuff going on. But uh Anyway, uh so I do these outlines, right? And so they're they're field tested. And I polished them up a little bit and then I release them.
So you can go check those out, they're free. There's a lot, and I'm telling you, a lot of information there. There really is. My outlines of philosophy are over 100 pages long inside of Word. My stuff on Roman Catholicism is over 200 pages long, you know, stuff like this.
And I'm developing one on Islam. I just got to go through and polish. It takes a while to polish, you know, just to make it so it's presentable. Things like that. Oof.
You know, there you go. Hey, look, if you want to give me a call, all you got to do is dial 877-207-2276. You can also, if you are interested, email me at info at carm.org. Info at CARM.org. And put the subject line radio comment or radio question, and we can get to it.
Easy peasy. Let's get to. William from Michigan. William, welcome. You're on the air.
Hey Matt, how are you? Oh, hanging in there by God's grace. Hanging in there, man. What do you got, buddy? By God's grace, hey, I was in a bad motorcycle accident four years ago and uh I made I may I mean, I'm still alive and I've lived through everything, but I was on the road a lot.
'Cause of the pain, it'd wake me up in the middle of the night and You know, two, three in the morning I found uh the Shruth Network on one hundred six point five out of Dayton, Ohio. And because of finding that station, you know, I've heard you on the radio, and I've listened to some of your callers. The thing I appreciate you, sir, is not just your time and the years that you've done it. But the sagacious approach That you have towards conflict because I They have never met trouble calmly. And hearing someone like you on the radio and having a a young man like Charlie Kirk that was so called in his presentation, you guys you guys are blessings.
to this world. And I've listened to you for four years and I've never called in. I was sitting here getting ready to make dinner and you were on the radio when I come in the house. And I thought, you know, I'm going to call this man and I'm going to tell and I'm going to tell him thank you. You know, I mean, I I I was listening to you before you lost your your wife.
And you were real quick to come back on the air in service of the Lord, and I know it's doing you good as well. But it's a burden for all of us just living, you know, and going through life. And whether you realize it or not, you are a positive influence. on a lot of people out here in the world. And I was just calling them to say thank you.
Wow.
Well, I really appreciate that. You know, normally I wouldn't even respond the way I'm going to when people would call up. I think your call is really helpful to me personally because. Uh you know, I'll be seventy in December. And the CARM website is the traffic is way down.
And there are other people coming up, which is, you know, praise God, that are great apologists. And so I'm kind of on the downside, the sunset, you know, and that's okay. That's okay. God had me where He wants for that time. And so.
Reflecting back on so many things, I wonder sometimes: has it really made a difference? Is it really glorifying God? And things like what you just said are really helpful and encouraging that way, and I want to thank you.
Well you have. been serving God because you've touched me and I know you've touched a lot of other people also. And I've listened to you enough that I know you get some repeat callers that they're coming out of left field and, you know, math, I'll tell you another thing and I just you are very calm in your manner of dealing with them, and you're serving God's purpose, and you've been a positive influence on my local existence here in Michigan, man. I just wanted to say thank you to you.
Well, all I can do is say praise God. He uses broken, stupid, honry, thick-skulled, hard-hearted vessels for his glory. And uh, so and praise God for him. I got to tell you one last thing before I let you go. I heard you say Idaho from California, and you can't go wrong there.
Um Uh about the time fifteen years ago, I got stuck in a semi because I was injured. No one would hire me for anything other than driving a truck. And I had never been to Montana, and I was reading the Lewis and Clark Expedition, same time my father was. I picked the book up so that he and I had something to talk about. And when I was in Thompson Falls, Montana, I met a retired school principal and a retired fire jumper smoke jumper, and they both lived there local, and I spent about three hours drinking gin and tonics with them.
But I was right I was right there in Thompson Falls, the Missoula River Valley. The the Indians call it the Valley of the Sick. And that's a beautiful that's a beautiful region of the country that's often overlooked. And you are blessed to be there, sir. And right I already liked you and I've enjoyed your show.
And you mentioned Idaho a couple of times. And I was like, man, I got to holler at that man because he's looking at beautiful country.
Well, where we all are is high desert, but north of me, 45 minutes north and up, it just gets beautiful. But we're in high desert, and there's only two million people in the entire state, which is nice. But it is pretty. And the people, that's what was so weird. I'll tell you a story.
I came from Southern California where I lived for 30, 40 years, whatever. And so, you know, there's 22 million people down there. And when we first got here, my wife and I we were suspicious of people because they were so friendly. What do you want? And once she had a flat tire, I was out of state speaking someplace, and she had a flat tire.
And she tells me the story that. She was something about flat tire, and her phone was dead, you know, and so she went to just a house. knock on the door. And long story short, they changed her tire and invited her and the kids in for for dinner. And federal.
That's beautiful. Yeah, that that's item.
Well, I mentioned I mentioned to you that I got stuck in a semi fifteen years ago and you know, by God's grace, I was able to train and work out and find my way back home. But I was on the road for eight months, and the only part of this nation I haven't seen is the Northeast, Alaska, and Hawaii. And we are a whole lot more alike than what the media wants us all to know. And people like you help to connect the dots via the airwaves, you know, because there's people like me. that we're out there and we're looking and we need something.
We turn on the radio and we scan through it and we find a station, and there's a couple of sermons and there's a couple of people that make sense. And then we hear someone like you and you become familiar And it's it's connectivity that with the Internet and modern connectivity, man, we as a society have cognitive dissonance with ourselves, with each other and with our creator. And there's people out there just like me that are trying to turn all that stuff off. They remember their childhood and look back on their lives And whatever's left that we got forward to try and look forward, you know, to God's to God's kingdom. And I believe I'm on the right track.
And I know my voice is wavering a little bit. I'm not calling a radio station. And, man, I'm sorry for cursing, but I just wanted to thank you, brother. Because you are reaching people.
Well, praise God. Thank you. Yes, sir. Appreciate that. Yes, sir.
All right.
Well, thanks a lot, William. Thanks for watching. Thank you for watching back to your show, Matt. And I just I've accomplished what I wanted. I just wanted to pump you up and say thank you.
You have positively influenced my life. All right.
Well, thanks a lot. I really appreciate it, William. Thanks. Enjoyed the call. God bless, man.
You take care, brother.
Okay, God bless. Hmm.
Well, I don't know if that cuss word got edited out, but if it didn't, folks, well, it's live radio sometimes what happens.
Sorry about that. Let's get to Jermaine from California. Jermaine, welcome, brother. You're on the air. Good.
Hey Matt, um, good to talk with you. I was going to echo the sentiments of what I heard, besides one small part, but. Yeah, we uh Definitely appreciate you out here.
So Well, okay, well. Praise God what you're doing. All right.
Well, you know, praise God. Yeah.
Okay.
Well, I appreciate it. Yeah.
But my question, um, So I know replacement theology is something that's very controversial. And it had me thinking because I get into conversations with family members who are dispensationalists and others who go the other way. Do you think a lot of the disconnect is the term spiritual Israel? Because a lot of people will use those terms not necessarily defining what exactly they mean. Yes, very often Christians don't know biblical theology.
And each time I say that, I feel guilty because they don't have the privilege of studying like I do. But still, a lot of pastors don't even know a lot of stuff. But um Tell me when we get back to the break. We'll talk about spiritual Israel and we'll get through some stuff.
Okay, brother?
So hold on, man. Hey, folks, be right back after these messages. Please stay tuned. It's Matt Slick Live, taking your calls at 877-207-2276. Here's Matt Slick.
All right, everybody, and welcome back to the show. Let's get back on with Jermaine from California. Jermaine. You on, brother? Oh, yes, I am.
Alright.
Now where were we? 'Cause uh we said something and then the break so Talking about spiritual Israel, I think, or something like that, right? Just defining the terms for spiritual Israel, because I hear a lot of people using. The term, but everyone seems to have a different definition, and I think I have mine. that I believe is more biblical, but it's when I hear Israel It just everyone has a different point of view, so it kind of skews what way they go in theology.
Yeah, it does. Spiritual Israel, it was really kind of. It was understood in the Reformation dealing with those who are. Those who are saved, those who are regenerate. And it part of the verses come out of I think it's the last few verses of Romans chapter 2 because of not all Israel are Israel.
So that's Rom let's see, Romans 2. 2029 I think it is. Come on, get in there. Hitting the thing. Yeah, that's right.
For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor circumcision is that which is outward in the flesh, but he is a Jew who is one inwardly.
So, this is spiritual Israel right there. And there's other verses that support this kind of a thing, but. Yeah, you know, actually, you got me kind of curious about. I don't think I've ever. I have not written on what is spiritual Israel.
So maybe I'll write an article on that because you brought it up here in the radio. Yeah, and maybe you can critique what I think. When I hear spiritual Israel There's a lot of verses from Ephesians to Galatians where It seems like Paul is referencing How you know just there is no Jew, no Greek. How there's an equality there. Like, I am not.
one of these anti-Israel people. I just Don't believe in the definition of Zionism as I've heard it from a lot of folks. But I I see God as you know, having the same applications to everybody. But I do wonder at times when I see some of the things that some of the government in Israel does, is it Is it speaking of secular government or is it speaking of spiritual Jews? But Well, that's a good question.
And by the way, it's Galatians 3:28 you're referencing as dealing with salvation, the issue of neither Jew nor Greek in Christ. But the issue of Israel, what it's doing, National Israel and the people of Israel, particularly in the land, in my opinion, are one and the same. God is not done with national Israel. Because they're in the land, and that's the land that was promised by God to God's people, His elect covenant people. They've been gathered back to that land, and even though, like they were in the Old Testament, In many areas, rebelling against God and not doing what was right, he still considered them his covenant people.
And so I think we need to do the same thing. We still need to remember that Israel, in my opinion, the nation and the geographic people there are God's covenant people. I'm not saying every individual, but as a whole, because we can't sort out everybody, but as a whole, they are the covenant people of Israel, of God, excuse me, and that we need to respect them. Uh in that way. That's what I would say.
Yeah, and I'll call back when we get more time. I actually. agree with with most of that. And I just wonder if it's not a case of being like two things being equally true where There's obviously something special about the land. But I don't believe in and I and I know you don't, but I I was Hearing a Jewish person saying the problem with us was we were worshiping.
one Jew when we should be worshiping all the Jews. Equal to Christ, and I knew that was just absolutely blasphemous. And I pray for that person. I don't hate them, but. That that's the kind of thing I was referencing where You have some people who are operating as if they're just not Christian at all.
But I don't believe God has done with Israel myself. Yeah, I I agree. He's not done with Israel and We need to be cautious about condemning Israel. I'm not saying everything they need to do is perfect. But just be cautious when you're dealing with the people of God and what God says about His own people.
I just say tread lightly when it comes to Israel. Because God's not done with them yet. That's that's my advice.
Okay.
All right.
Okay, yeah, fascinating topic. I'm going to have to hop on Karma and start reading a little bit more. All right, brother.
Sounds good, man. God bless, buddy. You always got good stuff. All right, God bless you, man. Bye-bye.
All right, God bless. All right, before we get to the next caller, I just want to give a shout out to Michael Conan in Wisconsin because he's one of our guys who. Does uh emails and helps out and stuff like that in Carm. And um He had an emergency appendectomy, and so he's doing well. Just saying, hey, man, thanks, appreciate it.
Hope you're doing well. Hope everything is going fine. And Your wife, Sarah, there is caring for you and Praise God. All right.
So just thanks, man. Thanks. Appreciate you helping out. Appreciate it a lot.
Alright, now let's get to Papua from Puerto Rico.
Okay.
How you doing, man? Doing alright man, what do you got, buddy?
Okay.
Um, I've been praying lately about To God about an argument, to give me an argument that is simple to understand and And it's simple as simple as possible. And I just got one an hour ago. And I want you to evaluate it to see if it's valid and sound 'Cause if it is, it's an answer prayer.
Okay.
So that means you're going to be doing a syllogism or a polysyllogism. It's a syllogism.
Okay, premise one. Go on. The argument.
Now the argument doesn't prove the personal aspect of God, it just proves that a necessary being exists. Because I just proved God is personal with my divine system and doctrine that I told you yesterday. But to prove a necessary being, but to prove a necessary being exists is kind of. Uh out of sorts logically because if he's necessary, you have to prove he's necessary. But I think what you're trying to get at is that it is necessary that a necessary being exists.
I think it's what you're trying to get at, that without that we have no intelligibility. I think that's what you mean. But go ahead. What's your first premise?
Okay.
If you exist right now Something has always existed. If you exist, something has always existed. I wouldn't. I wouldn't necess necessarily say that. Um Because the options are, or nothing existed, and nothing can come from nothing.
Or something existed and you exist right now. Those are the only options.
Okay, so then you expanded on that premise.
Okay.
So uh Uh Yeah, I I think I know what you what you're getting at.
So it's an opening premise for the larger argument.
Okay, so premise one, and what's premise two? Premise two UXs.
Well, you're saying premise one is if you exist, something has always existed, then premise two, you exist. Then which premise three then? Therefore, something has always existed, and that's what we call God. Um Okay. If you exist, something has always existed.
It's premise one that I'm having a problem with. I understand what you're getting at, but let me, well, look at it during the break and we'll be back, okay? Hold on, brother. Hey, folks, if you want to give me a call, all you got to do is dial 8772-07-2276. We'll be right back.
It's Matt Slick Live, taking a call at 877-207-2276. Here's Matt Slick. All right, and welcome back to the show. Let's get back on with Popo. Are you still are you there, brother?
Yes, I'm here.
Okay.
All right, so I had time to think about it um and I think You're smuggling in, premise one, you're smuggling in a metaphysical thing, and it's out of ex nihilo, out of nothing, nothing comes. And so I think instead of doing a strict syllogism, you might want to do a polysyllogism.
So, uh You know, like premise one would be: out of nothing, nothing comes. Ex nihilo, nihilé, fit. Out of nothing, nothing exists. If nothing is not possible to produce anything, then you have to have something that causes it. You exist, and if you exist, it's impossible for reality to have consisted solely of an infinite set of causes.
And therefore, you have to have a non-infinite. Regression of causes. That makes sense? If you exist then something must always exist because nothing can produce nothing and since something exists right therefore something always exists. Right, it's called ex nihilo nihilifit, in that out of nothing nothing comes.
And that that's a a standard premise and it works. And so I would say that instead of a syllogism, you want to do a polysyllogism. You want to Pauli, for those who don't know what we're talking about, a syllogism is two points and a conclusion.
So here's a syllogism. All men are mortal.
Socrates was a man, therefore, Socrates is mortal. It's a syllogism.
A polysyllogism has more than two premises, and where premise one and premise two leads to premise three, which leads to premise four, which leads to premise five, and then you conclude. You can have many polysyllogisms. You can have lengthy ones.
So in this one, I think you need more than just two premises. I think you need to instead of smuggling in ex nihilo, nihilo fit, I think you need to establish it as uh like a premise one or premise two, probably premise one, where uh out of nothing nothing comes. And then next two, we exist. Then our existence was caused. The cause.
Uh the how to put this the cause cannot have a cause and have a cause infinitely backward. lest we get into the problem of an infinite regression without initial cause, it's difficult to justify the beginning of a sequence without or any sequence without a beginning, etcetera, things like this.
Okay.
Okay, but uh I was gonna do that, including like. the the nothing, nothing comes part, but I wanted to make it more simple and not add too much information for them to digest. Yeah.
So I try to make it more simple. and defend that premise apart if they ask me for it. Yeah, you could do that. In fact, uh You could, you know, if you do just a standard syllogism, you could put an explanatory note after P1. and say this is ex-nihilo nihilo fit and that uh out of nothing nothing comes.
And it's just a standard truth. And so, okay, people go, okay, we get it. And then go.
Now, if you, here's the thing: we've dialogued on things like this, and I I get what you're saying, and I see a lot of the points, but the average Joe won't get this kind of stuff. Because the average Joe doesn't know what modus ponens is, modus tollens. You know, modus ponens if P then Q, P, therefore Q, or modus tollens if P then Q, not P, therefore not Q. These are standard inference laws. Most people don't understand these kinds of things, but you do.
And so that's why when I work on syllogisms, I like to break them down even further.
So that the average joke can get them. And even if I'm talking to an atheist, sometimes atheists are a little more sophisticated. You can just do a straight syllogism and get right into modus ponens. And you can do that, but I think for the average Joe you might want to expand it into a polysyllogism or an explanation and justification to P1.
Okay? Thank you. So you don't think that if If I leave it like that and if they ask me, okay, okay, okay, what is the first premise means?
Well, defend that. And I just defend it and get out of the way instead of putting it written down. It's less information that they they have to digest and get and get them Get information a piece at a time. Yeah, that works. That's a good approach.
It's a valid approach. And the syllogism is certainly valid, and I think it's also sound. But it'll depend on your audience and what your goal is. Me, I like to get the hay off the loft down to the cows, but you may be doing something a little bit different. That's fine.
That's fine. As long as you're prepared to expand and defend the premises. That's all.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay, so it's valid and sound? It's valid. The soundness, I don't know enough yet to know. If it's valid and sound, it might be both. But it's valid, sure.
Yeah, P1, P2 leads to conclusion, it's valid. But the defense of P1 has to be established. And that's why I was suggesting a polysyllogism. And then you could uh you know do it that way. But if you're gonna defend it, ex nihilo, nihilo, fit, then uh then I would think that P one is is is uh is is sound, is good.
Okay.
Uh Okay, Matt.
Well, thank you very much. I appreciate your help as always. God bless you. God bless, brother. God bless.
Appreciate it. All right.
Yeah.
Now, for those of you who are listening to that conversation and didn't understand much of anything, don't worry, that's okay. This is a level of apologetics that I've had to deal with for years and had to learn stuff. And it's in my philosophy notes: modus ponens, modus tollens, and things like that, and what they are. And they're standard logic things. And then, when we get into syllogisms, basically, or two premises and a necessary conclusion.
And then we can have premises that are valid and sound, and we can have I mean, excuse me, uh we can have uh syllogisms that are valid and sound, but we could also have a syllogism that's valid but not sound.
So, a valid syllogism that's not sound would be: all mammals. My dog is a mammal, therefore my dog flies. That's a valid syllogism, but it's not sound. And there's differences of meaning when we get into this kind of stuff. Valid means that the inferences are there, the conclusion follows from it.
But is it true? It depends on the accuracy of the premises to begin with. And then if they are both true, then it's it sounds. For example, all men are mortal.
Socrates was a man, therefore Socrates was mortal. That's valid and sound.
Okay, uh that makes sense. Whew. The things you gotta do and learn. When you do apologetics, at least when you argue with a lot of people. Let's get to Joe from North Carolina.
Joe, welcome. You're on the air. How are you doing? I'm doing all right, just stretching the frontal lobes a little bit, having a fun time doing that. I hear you.
I heard earlier you had a guy on was talking about. Israel and the state of Israel and that situation, which is a big topic that I've been kind of going through in my own mind, to be honest with you. And I guess what I'm looking at is. I I feel like I have a premise that they aren't you know, what they say they are. And from you know, from just Just from the scripture and stuff that I've read, and maybe I'm going wrong, and maybe it's something that I can just bring to your attention and see if there's something, if I'm looking at this all wrong.
So in Hebrews 8:13 is a specific, one of the specific verses that I'm talking about where it says that it makes. Makes the covenant obsolete. And so when I hear When I hear somebody say something like, Oh, well, you know, the State of Israel And the Jewish people that are living in the State of Israel. Are somehow Chosen I don't know if that's the right word, but Are somehow still in covenant with God, or they may not be in covenant with God, so God can save them in the end. in my in my eyes that that that's That's clear when people say that to me that you're saying that there's two ways to get to heaven.
Uh and Jesus says there's only one.
So that's where, like, all these little details that I've ever heard somebody make an argument for the Jewish people in the Jewish state of Israel. has always been like these Very simple, simplistic ways that I can go back to scripture and say, well, this doesn't make sense unless I'm just. reading you know this completely wrong. it just doesn't make any sense to me. Maybe I maybe you can give me some insight.
I'm not sure what you're asking, though. Go ahead, take it in one sentence. You know the verse, you know the have you Hebrews 8:13? Yeah, I'm quite familiar with it. And I cross-reference it with Hebrews 9:15 through 16.
The new covenant, or the old covenant, is made obsolete. It's a Sineatic covenant, Moses Sineatic covenant, is made obsolete with the death of Christ in Hebrews 9:15 through 16, because with the death of Christ, the new covenant is instituted.
So that's why the old one is made obsolete, because we cannot be justified by the old covenant system. We cannot be made right before God.
So Christ fulfilled that covenant. And so the old covenant is made obsolete in that sense, in that it's no longer applicable to us because Christ has fulfilled it. And with the death of the testator, the new covenant's instituted. And with the new covenant, the old one's made obsolete. And it's dealing with Jeremiah 31:21 and following.
Right. Uh-huh. And so my view is when a j when a when a Jew uh you know gives his faith to Christ hold on brother We get a break.
Sorry. It's a good thought, and I want to stop you before.
Okay.
Right. Hey folks, we'll be right back after these messages. We have three open lines. If you want to give me a call, 877-207-2276. Be right back.
It's Matt Slick Live, taking a call at 877-207-2276. Here's Matt Slick. All right, everyone, welcome back to the show. Hey, let's get back with Joe from North Carolina. Joe, welcome.
You're on the air, brother. A Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah, so I forgot. I honestly, I forgot through the break where we were at. Um The new covenant's institutions were the death of Christ. Right. Yeah, so I just hear a lot of people like I say that say there's another path for the Jews, that they have separate path from the Gentiles, right?
And I just like. And I'm like, well, that doesn't make any sense. Like, there's a lot of, I don't know if dispensation is like the best word for it. But they they take a lot of verses And then they basically make a whole other theology out of it that I don't know if I completely agree with. Like, I don't think that.
I don't think that God had a plan for the Jews. He fulfilled that plan with Jesus. And now that there's you know There's no longer just Jew or Gentile, but it's a, you know, you're spiritually a Jew now at this point. It's like. How can or why should we Support something like the state of Israel over somebody like North Korea.
Of course, I would like to pray for the same people. in North Korea that I would Israel.
So I'm just trying to figure out as a Christian. you know, if the ob if the covenant has been made obsolete with them, And they have Uh fallen from God's grace. Right, we could all agree on those things. Right. How would they be any more special than the next person?
You know, if a Jew, just like if a Gentile, You know, were to give their faith to Christ, that's when they become a Christian. I wouldn't even at that point, and then that's where the whole mix-up comes from, too. It's like. You know, it's like, well, Jewish blood, they're like a Jewish lineage, and then it's like, okay, well, they're Jew as in a religious Jew.
So it's like, it's well, let's get back on track. Let's get back on track.
Okay.
So I would agree with you that That there's only one path to salvation through Jesus Christ.
Sometimes some dispensationalists, because they're disp heavy, they divide history into two groups or more groups, and then Israel and true Christians into two groups there, and then say, well, God's got a covenant relationship with them, so they'll be saved differently. And that's false doctrine. No one can get to heaven except through Christ.
So, those who would hold to that are simply in error.
Now, I understand their sentiment, but they are theologically illiterate. Salvation can only come through the blood of Jesus Christ, and all Jews, all people need to trust in Christ. And that's it, that's just the way it is.
Okay.
And so, like, that's what I meant, like, as far as earlier when you were talking to that other gentleman, you said something about, like. You know, we have to be careful about the state of Israel or whatever. And I'm just trying to figure out: so, where do you fall in that? In that line, like, how do you God's not done with Israel? God's not done with the nation of Israel.
He's their covenant people. It doesn't mean that everything they do is right. It just means that be careful. Be careful of that. Don't curse them, don't work against them.
Don't do that. But why? because God's not done with Israel covenantally. They're still his people. It's Hebrews 10:25 through 26.
When the time of the Gentiles is fulfilled, then all of Israel will be saved. God had promised that they'd be gathered back into the land, and they are. It's just proof. He's not done with them.
So he's not doing that. In that sense, when you say that, that's why. Uh you says all of Israel will be saved, but who is Israel at this point? national covenantal Israel. They're in the land.
Now true Israel, according to Romans 2, 20, 29. Are the spiritual Israel, those who are redeemed. But national Israel is different. National Israel is different, okay?
So let me go to Um Romans 10. Like I said, this is the whole reason because I'm trying to understand this, and so far, everything I've. I've read as far as uh As far as Christians who You know, like you said, national Israel, like who is Israel? Who is the son of Abraham? Who are the seed of Abraham at this point?
All throughout the Bible, it says the same sentiment. It says that we are now the seed of Abraham, we are the ones. You know, the Chief Covenant, you know. I got you.
Now think this way. Think of a difference between spiritual Israel. I know, you're never gonna be God. Hold up. I'm sorry, sorry, go ahead.
Okay, name in vein and stuff. Did you just think Okay. I'm muting him because they're having a little bit of an issue, and that's okay.
So someone's irritated. Yeah.
So there you go. All right.
And we'll see when he's ready. I'll give him a try now again. Let's try. No.
Okay, well, I'll tell you what we're gonna do. I'm gonna hang up on them. Because that that way That way I'll know. Let's save and do that. I don't know how I get on into that, do that.
I won't get in there. Anyway, that happens. Wow, first, I think the first time. First time on the radio.
Alright, hey, looks, I'm gonna let you guys know that. On Facebook, uh there has been on the Carm Facebook Uh Let's see.
Okay, that let's say up, I might do something here. On Facebook about a week or so ago, there's something getting my attention where they were. attacking Reformed theology, people were attacking it, misrepresenting it.
Okay, well, you know and someone suggested that maybe I I get in there and and kind of help out and and stuff like that. And I thought, Okay, I'd be glad to do that. And so I offered to have people join me where I would just do a QA on this, and people seemed interested.
So far, they still are. And I'm going to put up a little bit of a of a graphic here in a little bit about um Coming into a Facebook group and/or YouTube, wherever I put the link in, to have people call in. Not on radio, but on a YouTube thing, whatever it is, that I set up, and they can. then come in and they can uh we can do a Q ⁇ A. And people said they were interested, so I'm setting that up.
And I'm trying to set it up for next week, Monday or Tuesday, and I'm putting up the Facebook thing up there so that people can tell me which day is convenient for them. Because I've done this before. And People don't show up. They'll say, yes, I'm there. I got a lot of questions.
And okay, is this date, this time, okay? They say, yes, yes. And then no one shows up. Once, I've done this thing two or three times over 10 years. And uh once one person showed up.
And asked one question, and that was it. And so I'm saying this because if you're interested in that, go to the The carm.org Facebook page, Carmorg, Facebook forward slash Carmorg. And you can join in and whatever. And hopefully, people will actually show up this time. And maybe they're intimidated.
I don't know, because there are a lot of people who hate Reformed theology. The idea of God's sovereignty, of God's election, God's predestination. They hate these things and they want to speak evil of it, and then when. I say, well, you know, I'm qualified to talk about it. I'll answer questions.
And we go through scripture, and then they say, yeah, yeah, yeah, and then they don't show up. And this has happened so many times like this. If I do it once every few years, and this has uh it's been a few years.
So we'll see if uh that's what they want to do. We'll see if that happens. And if you're interested, you can go to Facebook and you can uh pay attention to that. I'm trying to get it from n next week, Monday or Tuesday. Depe on what's convenient for people.
That's what I'm doing. This is what's convenient for people. That's all I'm trying to do. What's easy for them so that they can come in and ask questions? And one of my main goals is to.
Bring unity in the body of Christ. I don't care if you're reformed or not. What I care about is that you don't cause division in the body of Christ and bear false witness against other Christians. And this is something I've seen a lot of anti-Reformed people do regularly. They will say the worst things about Reformed theology and then accuse the Reformed view of things attributed to God and then say things like, God, in Reformed theology, God wants evil things to happen.
And they just list out these evil things. And we say, no, it's not how it works. And then they say, yes, it is. And they don't want to hear it. They don't want to listen.
It's a lot of this vitriol that's going around out there. And my goal is to overcome that and to get people to. They don't have to agree, but just to get people to the point where they go, okay, I see, I see why people hold that, don't agree, but they're brothers and sisters in Christ. And I was going through some scriptures today, writing an article, and this reminds me. Uh uh but we're all I'm trying to know if I can find that verse.
Because I went through a bunch of verses. I was looking for stuff. I can't find it. And it talks about the issue of not having divisions in the body of Christ and unity in the body of Christ. And this is what we're called to be as Christians.
And it seems to me that so few people listen to the words of Scripture on this. Yeah.
And when I brought this up, I have brought this up to people in the past, they then will say, Well, you're not in the body of Christ. You're not a Christian. And I say, because I believe that God predestines people and elects people to salvation. That Jesus only died for the elect, therefore not a Christian. They say, That's right, because you're God, blah, blah, blah.
And they go in with the accusing tone and attitudes, which aren't even the positions we hold. And so it's really interesting to me to encounter this kind of a thing, which I have regularly, repeatedly, countless times over the years. And my goal, again, is to bring harmony in the body of Christ. One of the ultimate reasons I want to do that is one, well, scripture says so. But two, if we're united, we can turn our attention away from each other and attacking each other towards assailing the gates of hell.
Now, in Matthew 16, 18, Jesus says the gates of hell will not prevail against the church. And gates are not aggressive.
So many people, what they'll do is say, well, the gates of hell prevailed against the church, didn't they? Gates don't do anything. They're on hinges. They move back and forth. They're defensive.
And so many people misunderstand the idea that the gates of hell are these aggressive kind of movements of the demonic realm and that they succeeded over Christians. And they totally miss what the Scripture is saying, Matthew 16, 18. I've had to correct Catholics on this repeatedly. repeatedly. That's a whole other topic.
So, the issue here is: if the devil could get us divided amongst ourselves. Then we're not going to be going after the real false doctrines like synergistic soteriology, which means that you cooperate with God. and you do good works in order to be saved.
Now that's a false gospel. That's what's taught in Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, excuse me, Roman Catholicism, and Eastern Orthodoxy. And I'm sorry, but those are false gospels. That's just not what it says. And so, we as true Christians need to be politely and fervently working against those false doctrines.
Now that brings me another idea. Would any of you be interested in a session where you can come in and I can teach you how to do this? I could teach you how to do apologetics, teach you the basics of it, teach you where to begin, give you an instructional course laid out that you'd be interested to do. If that is something you like.
Something that sounds interesting, that I want you to email me at info at carm.org and say, Apologetics course, I'm interested in participating in that. And if I were to do something like that, you'd have homework. And you'd have to pay to get in because I would put a firewall there because I only want people who are interested in serious. I've offered this kind of thing before over the years. People say yes, and then they just don't really commit.
But I've noticed that when people pay, then they commit to doing this kind of a thing, and that's what we want to do.
So that's my goal. There you go. Hey, top of the minute, and we got to go because one minute left before the top of the hour. The music's going to start. May the Lord bless you.
Please remember. If you want to participate in something, an apologetics course, then please email me at info at carm.org and say you're interested in something like that and let me know. Maybe I'll do it. There you go. Man, I had to do that quick and slick.
May the Lord bless you. And by his grace, we're back on there tomorrow. And Lord William, we'll talk to you then. Have a good one, everyone. God bless.
