Which is new. you can also send me an email, info at karm.org, info at karm, C-A-R-M dot O-R-G. Just put in the subject line radio comment or radio question, and then hopefully we can get to you. All right, all right, so there we go. Got some interesting things happening.

I can talk about that. Let's see, gotta do this, here we go, okay. All right, let's get to Jermaine from California. Jermaine, welcome, you are on the air.

Jermaine, are you there? Yeah, I'm here, can you hear me? All right, now I hear you, buddy. All right, man. All right. Yeah, I was just saying, welcome back.

Missed you very much, glad you're back on the air. Good. All right. My question will be, I guess gospel competitions, and I see churches that don't have choir competitions, and I know they have award shows, but sometime I was a little uncomfortable watching a couple of them and just wondering if they were leaning towards being anti-biblical, because if you're singing for the Lord, is there really an award that you get from that from men? So, just kind of want to hear your thoughts about that. Yeah, that's an interesting issue, because, yeah, I don't know, you know, it's a good question.

Should we participate in something like that or not? And, let's see, I don't know. I'm thinking, you know, I don't know.

That's a good question. I wouldn't do it. I don't think those kind of things are fun. I don't like them myself.

My personal preference is I just don't deal with them. But as far as, you know, that, I don't have to think about that and see. I have to think about it.

Just not sure what to say, you know? It's interesting. Okay. You know.

If there are men, I'm more split where I think maybe the motivation that one has to do such things would kind of come into play. If you are truly singing for the Lord, then okay. But it just felt kind of weird watching some people in the church, not all, some kind of emulate some of these award shows and have these judging competitions. And it just is like, well, if these are hymnals, if these are worship songs, then who cares about the award? You know, you're singing for the glory of God.

So that's all. And I don't want to sound too judgmental, but I was genuinely curious about it. Yeah, it does seem to be a little problematic to me in that you're right. It's an issue of honor before God.

And so if you're singing praise songs as a competition, it doesn't seem to be very sanctified. So, you know, it's a bit of a problem. I would, off the top of my head, now I'm thinking about it going, you know, it just doesn't sound right. So, yeah. Yeah, that's a good question. I don't think I've ever been asked that before. I think that's interesting. That's a good, good, good question.

Yeah. And I, real quick, I'm gonna test, is there a particular order that we should go about in taking the Bikram classes online? Well, I recommend, yeah, I recommend a theology first.

That's what I recommend. And then go to the apologetics. Because you need to know your theology. I think that's more important than defending the faith.

We should know what it is that the, what the scriptures actually teach. So that's what I would recommend. But, you know, people don't have to do it that way.

They can do what they want. But I think it's a good idea, you know? All right, that was good for me. Thank you very much, man, appreciate you.

Okay, sounds good. Okay, buddy, God bless. Thanks for calling. God bless, bye-bye. All right, bye. All right, oh, we had some caller in there.

And we lost him. If you wanna give me a call, the number is 877-207-2276. I wanna hear from him to give me a call. And if you wanna send me an email, that's easy to do. 877-20, I mean, I forget, just doing different stuff. All you gotta do is send an email to info at karm.org.

info at karm.org, C-A-R-M dot O-R-G. Put in a subject line, radio comment, radio question. And we can hopefully get to all the stuff we need to get to at that point. So there you go.

All right. Okay, so, you know, I have had the opportunities to be able to do a little bit of witnessing and evangelism. And I was talking to some Eastern Orthodox guys last night. And something interesting came up. It was really, in my opinion, it was quite interesting to see the Eastern Orthodox individual that I talked to just implode with illogic.

It was really profound. And so I'd asked, something as simple as this, I'd asked, where did Jesus or the apostles teach praying to Mary? That's all I asked, where did they teach that? And instead of answering the question, what happened was I was told that I was a hypocrite. The reason I was a hypocrite is because I required Bible verses for praying to Mary, but I don't require Bible verses for establishing what the Bible is. And, you know, to me, it's like, it's dumb because it's a category mistake, because the canon of scripture is different than what the canon teaches. And so it's, and plus it's a red herring, plus it's called Tu Quo Que. It's a, same to you, buddy, you're a hypocrite, and that's why you can't trust you.

And it's really, the fallacies are there. So I wrote an article, I haven't released it today yet, but maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow, dealing with this kind of really bad thinking. Now, it really kind of, it caused me also to realize something, because I've done this before, and then I'll notice the reactions, but last night, it really hit me hard in the reactions the EO, Edith Northup Dux, and Roman Catholics have when dealing with Mary. They revere her, bow to her, pray to her, seek her, she's just awesome.

And if you don't, well, I'll put it this way. So what I do is I say, why, you shouldn't pray to her, and you're committing idolatry. Man, they just go ballistic. And when I say, show me the Bible where Jesus or the apostles taught that. They taught us how to pray, and who to pray to, and it wasn't Mary, and they just go ballistic.

They find any excuse they can to attack me, or others who do this, because you're not supposed to ask that kind of question. And to me, it was really interesting to see the idolatry. And it is so idolatrous to do that. You should not be praying to Mary out there, or your saints, or your dead uncle, or anybody. It's called necromancy. It's a contact in the dead, and except for Christ, you know, he's God in flesh, that's different. But you're only supposed to pray to God. And so necromancy under Deuteronomy 18, 10 through 12 is condemned in scripture.

It's really bad to do that. And what do the Catholic Church and the East Orthodox Churches teach? They teach necromancy, contact the dead. They teach it in direct violation of the scripture. And then they have icons and statues, and they bow before them, they pray to what they represent. The Bible says, don't make an image of the Lord your God, or you're thinking heaven and earth, or a thing under the sea that you bow down to them. And that's Exodus 20, verses four and five, and also Leviticus 26, one. Don't do this, the Bible says.

Do not do it. What do they do? They do it. So I'm pointing this stuff out, and man, man, oh man, the emotional hatred that comes out, oh, and I know exactly what's happening. I'm walking up to their idol of Mary, their statue of Mary, and I'm putting my hand on it while I'm looking at them, and they're going, don't touch it, don't touch it, and I'm pushing.

And they're saying, don't, don't, don't, and I'm pushing it, don't, don't do it, and I push it over, and then they attack. So it's kind of interesting. And so I was working on that, and we're working on an article, and I hope to do a video about it as well.

And then I got something else I'll talk to you about a little bit, too, to work it on because of them. So I field test, and I go out there. A lot of people don't know this. I'm out there in the real world, so to speak, online, and I used to go door to door and stuff like that, asking questions and learning, and I learned what the real issues are in real time, and then I write in response to those things. So if you go to CARM, you're seeing a lot of articles and a lot of stuff that is from real time stuff. Now maybe some of you are thinking, you know, I really don't, I just don't have time to read those kind of things. You just go to chat GPT and say, what's this?

And people are just doing that. I'm gonna let you know that we're having a new site built. It should be ready in a couple of months, and we're gonna have AI highly integrated into the CARM website, and you can be able to ask questions and stuff like this.

So it's gonna be good, it's gonna be useful, and hopefully you'll just trust it. Let's get to, let's see, next longest waiting online is James from South Carolina. James, welcome. You're on the air. Thank you, Matt. I'm a huge fan of yours.

I've never called in. I've listened to you for years, probably since 2007. Maybe not listened to you back then, but studied a lot of stuff on CARM. But my question is, if I can articulate it, I took Christian philosophy, studied apologetics, and I guess this is kind of something personal that bugs me, but like, okay, I'm of the reform phase. I can't tie my day, my salvation to a day. And growing up, I was in and out of foster homes. I went to different churches, and that kind of made me dig deep, because I went, you name it, I went to it, and it made me dig deep to find out what was really true from hearing so many different voices.

Okay. And I don't know if that's just where I've been to them churches where, you know, you do an altar call, you go up there, and you know, you repeat this prayer. And I know that's nowhere in the Bible, but like, I can't tie my day of salvation to a certain day. I know that I believe today. Yeah, it's no big deal.

And I'm just, I don't know why they irked me, though. You don't need to know, it doesn't matter. There are people who will say, if you don't know the day of your salvation, then you're not really saved.

That's a stupid argument, but people say that. And so if you don't remember, well, okay. So, don't remember the exact day. I remember what year I was when I was saved, 17. I couldn't tell you what month. I couldn't tell you anything. It was just 17 when I got saved.

I don't remember the event, but I don't remember the date. So, it's, you know. Can I ask? Go ahead. Can I ask you this?

Sure. And I'm asking if this is like a good way to look at it. Is a good way to look at it is like, okay, I believe in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Yeah. Repent and turn to God in faith.

I know that like, I'd listen to R.C. Sproul, and one of the things that he said, it's not the confession of faith, but the possession of that faith. And I guess sometimes I just wore it within myself because like, it wasn't a magical prayer that I said. But I do know this. Philippians 1, 6, being confident of this very thing. He that began at the good work in you will perform it.

I know when he began to work in my life, I couldn't lay the Bible down, but I know that sounds petty, but it's just one of them things. It hurts me sometimes. No need to irk.

I love your radio station. Look, God knows, and when you get to heaven, you can ask him what day he'll get to heaven. Oh, it's on this day. You'll know. But you can't remember either. No, I can't.

Just what age I was, I was 17. That makes me feel better. All right, buddy.

Hey, we got a break coming up, so there you go. I appreciate you. Okay, thank you. All right, brother. God bless. Bye-bye.

Okay. Hey, folks, we'll be right back after these messages, please stay tuned. Be right back. It's Matt Slick live, taking your calls at 877-207-2276. Here's Matt Slick. All right, everyone, welcome back to the show. Hey, it was out because wife had some medical things going on, and back in the saddle again. All right, now let's get the next longest waiting person is Thomas from North Carolina.

Hello, Matt. I wanted to know if the Old Testament saints, so Noah was a righteous man, he was righteous in the eyes of God, will he attend the wedding feast of the Lamb? Yeah. Yep. Old and New Testament saints will attend, yeah, no, it's for the believers.

Okay. So that's not just for the church? That is part of the church, though, you see, there's a way to define church, some call it an ecclesiastical structure with guys with bells and smells and robes and gold and silver, and then they call that the church. Then the real definition of the church are those who are the true believers of God. And those include, in that context, it includes the Old Testament as well as the New Testament saints. So we'll see them, and they are part of the true believers, the corpus of Christian, of godly faith and the true living God.

The Old Testament, according to the people, what they knew at that time, they trusted in God, and they look forward to the Messiah, and we, after the Messiah, look back to him, and both are justified by their faith in the Messiah in what God has provided, okay? So will they be part of the rapture? No, because they're already dead. So it says those who are alive and remain will be caught up together. So we not precede those who have fallen asleep, and the ones who have fallen asleep, it just means they've died. So they return with Christ, and then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together to meet him in the air, okay? So how are they already with Christ if they're already dead?

Because they're dead, but they're still alive, conscious and doing stuff, and they're with Christ in heaven. Okay, so you're saying when I die, I go directly to heaven? If you're a Christian, yes, a true Christian, not a Mormon or Jehovah's Witness or a Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodoxy, you believe in those official false doctrines, but other than that, yeah, even if you believe in the true living God and the true gospel, yeah, you go straight to be with Christ, okay?

Okay, okay. I was under the understanding you went, you know, to what I would refer to as the Hadirian realm, Hades. No, that's Hades, yeah, no, that's the Old Testament, before the New Testament crucifixion.

So the theory is that before the offering of the blood sacrifice of Christ, who cleanses of our sins, that people went, when they died in the faith, they went to Abraham's bosom, and that's Luke 16, 19 through 31, and they were conscious and they're aware, and then this is what I lean towards, is out of Ephesians 4, 8 through 12, it talks about Jesus ascending into heaven, but he ascended with a host of captives, a host of captives, and what that seems to imply is that he went down and made proclamation in Abraham's bosom, wherever that is, to people and said, look, this is who I am, this is what's happened, and then he took them up into heaven with them, because then the sacrifice has been offered, and so they could do that. So now when we die, to be absent from the body is to be home with the Lord, 2 Corinthians 5, 8, okay? Okay, thank you. You're welcome. All right, well, God bless.

Okay. All right, now, next longest waiting is John from Washington. John, welcome, you're on the air.

Hey, Matt, it's your buddy from FEMA Region 10. How's it going, John? How you doing, man? Hey, I'm good, man.

I'm good, I'm good. So a quick question. I'm on the social medias, and I'm having arguments and all, and I come across this one particular Christian who believes that in the book of 1 John, the apostle John separates some of his letter from the, to exclusively only the apostles, and then sometimes he refers to only the church. So in other words, whenever, like, the apostle John writes, you know, if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. He's saying that if the word we, when he's saying we, he's referring to the apostles only. But if, whenever he says, like, my little children or other phrases like you, he's referring to the Christians in church. So I wanted your take on that because my question to him was, what remaining apostles were alive when John was writing this?

Yeah. So first of all, his exegesis, I'd like to see if I understand that. So he says, like, for example, in 1 John 1.8, if we say we have no sin, we're deceiving ourselves, that is him speaking to who? To apostles. To the apostles. To other apostles.

Not everybody else. You're right. Okay, then if we confess our sins.

It's crazy, I know. He's faithful and righteous to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. So that is not also to us, that's the apostles only, which, if we say we do not sin, make him alive. So, okay. So when it says, if we say we have fellowship with him and yet walk in darkness, we lie.

And if we walk in the light, that's only the apostles? Okay, so then what I would do. That's an argument.

Yeah, it's pretty lame. What I would do is, I'd take that pericope of scripture, 1 John 1, 5-10, if you're going to meet him again and talk to him again, and tell them about what I do. When I meet someone who has something new like this, where it doesn't really make sense, or just reading into the text, I'm curious. I say, let me see if I understand you correctly. Are you saying this and this? And I'll tell them, I've never heard this before.

And it's like this, I've never heard this before. So you're saying, if we, the four times it occurs in that pericope, you're saying, it's only the apostles. So it doesn't apply to everybody else. Is that what you're saying? And you say, yeah. Okay, so it doesn't apply to everybody else.

Then we go through, if we say we have fellowship with him, yet walk in darkness, we lie. So it doesn't apply to everybody else. That doesn't apply to me, or you, right? That's what I say to him. Correct. And he says, that's correct. Okay, if we walk in the light, as he himself is in the light. So that doesn't apply to us either.

Okay. And if we say we have no sin, we're deceiving ourselves. So it only applies to the apostles. So the apostles say they don't have any sin, then they're lying.

But if we say we have no sin, then it's okay. Start asking questions like this. Correct. And that's what I do.

Yeah, yeah. And then it becomes evident after a while, that they don't have all their theological paws in the litter box. And that they're a few short of logical truths. So, and what I've also found, when I'm encountering people like that, is it doesn't matter what you say to them. They have an agenda. And you can tell they have an agenda, because the scripture doesn't support what they're saying, but they hold to it anyway. And if you counter it, they don't care.

Because they've decided they know what it means. So, then he goes, my little children, I'm writing not sin, if anyone said we have an advocate. So, then he's switching. Okay. So, it's apostles in 1 John 1, and then everybody else in 1 John 2. Okay. And if that's the case, I would ask, it ends in reverse questions.

You can say, well, does anything in 1 John 2 account or apply to the apostles? And you go back and forth. And when I do this kind of a thing, it becomes apparent that they know what they're doing. It just takes time. Okay? It goes apart. Yeah.

It does. All right, man. Thank you so much.

You're the best, man. Take care. All right, John.
