Welcome to Man Talk. a ministry sponsored by TAWCMM. Talking and walking Christian men's ministry. where we're devoted to breaking down the walls of race and denomination. and to point men to their God-assigned roles.

Now here's your hosts, Will Hardy and Roy Jones Jr. Welcome to Man Talk Radio Podcast. I'm Will Hardy, one of your hosts. And welcome. This is Roy Jones, your co-host.

Well, Will, it's good to see you again, sir. I think we're picking up from our last episode, and we briefly introduced the scriptures. In Matthew 6, and we talked about the next several scriptures about do not worry. Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life. what you will eat or drink or about your body what you will wear Is not life more than food and the body more than clothes?

Look at the birds of the air. They do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? And I think worrying is something that.

Even though we say we shouldn't do it, we do it anyway. I think worrying is a part of the natural experience of man, if you will. It's just something that's going to come. You know, whether we want it to come or not. And I think it's kind of hard to suppress when you're faced with certain issues in life.

Yeah, we think about the garden, Will. What was the deal with Adam and Eve after they ate of the tree? What was their concern? They were worried about being naked and God see them.

So it actually started right there. Indeed. And, you know, I mean, when we look at our own situations when things happen that come close to us. Within our family. Like if there's something that happened to our spouse or something that happened to our children.

And then we start worrying about, you know, how are we going to help them out to get over whatever it is that may be perplexing them. You know, in whatever way. Let's find a way to do this. Let's talk it out. And then we put so much emphasis on that, and then we pray about it.

But what we end up doing first is worrying before praying.

So we should pray first. And then say, God, it's in your hand.

Now. If I worry about something which is again part of the nature of man, If I take it to an extreme. And I say There's something that I need to accomplish. And I'm just going to do it. What out?

putting God in it or anything like that. I'm just going to do it. You know, God gave me the resources to do it, so I'm just going to do it.

So, and I'm just going to take an example.

So, the family. needs a new car. But at the point that they're at now. They can't afford a new car. And so what the husband decides to do is he decides to go into savings.

pull money out. to put down on a new car. He drive it home. The wife comes to the door. She looks out.

and say it's what have you done. You see. because she knew the situation. They talked about the situation, but he said. I'm just going to go ahead and do this.

even without even considering bringing the family together and say, what are we going to do maybe to cut costs within the household so that we can do this or take on some additional work or responsibilities. And that's just one aspect from the natural point of view that A situation that we could face and have faced, some of us. You know, in our daily lives.

So, if I do these things, then what am I doing? I'm taking God out of the picture. That's what I'm doing.

So, God is saying, I am your Source. I'm your source for everything. And when God is our source for everything. Then Simple. become our resource.

Because what he begins to do is use people.

Now to bless you. Because he has directed them into your path or given them the amount of resources that's available to them to say, to give to you to bring get you over that hump.

So people are the resource. God is our source.

Now when we Flip that around. We certainly need to start worrying because what we've done is we made people our source. And if we've taken God out of the picture, then we made them the source and the resource, and God has been removed from the picture.

So I just wanted to bring that out, Roy, because I think that that is an example. That we as God's people have faced, are facing, or will face.

sometime in the future. Yeah. That's really good, Will. And I was just looking at some of the notes from Dr. Jeremiah.

on uh on these particular scriptures And he says three times in the text, in this particular text, between 25 and 34, Jesus says. Do not worry in 625, 631, 634, which we'll get to. Um, and he gives these reasons why we should not, five reasons why we should not worry. Worry is inconsistent if we can trust Jesus to provide us with our life. Can we not also trust him with our daily needs?

Right? Just like we just read. Worries irrational. If our Lord cares for the birds, will he not also care for us since we are more valuable than birds? And which is very, very, very clear and very obvious.

Worry is ineffective. Who among us can add one hour to our life by worrying in 6:27? And then he comes to number four: worry is illogical. If God can clothe the grass of the field with flowers, can He not also clothe us? And then in worry number five, worry is irreligious.

When we worry, we act just like those who do not know God, in this case, the pagans. And I thought that was a great summary. And and see, when when I look at verse 27. We worry. about things we cannot control.

90% of the time. Exactly. We cannot control Many things that we are worrying about. And verse 27, that's what he says: you can't add. Any inches to your body height at all.

There's nothing you can do about that. I don't care if you go to put yourself on a stretcher or hang upside down and try to stretch your spine. There's nothing you can do to add. you know, inches to your height.

So If you're worrying about things you cannot control. Then, what that is, is wasted energy, wasted time, because you can't control those things. And this is what I was sharing with the men again in the breakfast meeting: is that we, You're putting your energy on things you can't control instead of. getting into the battle and battling those things you can control. as a believer and as a kingdom citizen.

We need to Pick our battles. and fight those battles with every ounce of our energy. Because We can affect change as a result of doing that. But if we're going after things that we simply cannot control, Then You know, we're not looking at God as our source and ability. to to make changes even and those things that we cannot.

So we don't worry about them, but we seek God on Affecting the people who can make those things and make those changes, let them make those changes. All right, time for a little comedic relief here.

So which which which version of Bible were you reading to add hints to your life? I wasn't reading any. That was just Holy Spirit. That was just Holy Spirit giving. I know you're tall enough, man.

You shouldn't have be worried about your heights. Oh, absolutely not. Absolutely not. But see, when we worry about things, though, Roy. I think That just takes us off track too.

It it misdirects us. it takes us in a different direction. Than what God wants us to go.

So Man, if you're out there. Listening. Seek God. God will send people. into your life he will just as we talked about he'll provide that resource All you have to do is pray and believe and have faith.

Trust God. Just going over there to Proverbs. Uh three Uh five through seven. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not into your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct thy path. Then what And then, you know, he goes on to say.

that you should depart yourself or leave evil. Because if you can't trust God. To bring the things in your life that is good because he is good. And he can't bring evil things. Then when you get out of his will, what do we think is going to happen?

We have opened up the door for evil to come in. because we're not seeking. The face of God. And I think that's cut and dry, Roy. We don't need to have a PhD in theology to.

to figure that out. No, you're right. Will, we really don't. And the thing about it with people these days is just. Worrying about stuff that, like we said earlier, I think we may have even talked about this in one of our shows recently: the studies show that.

I think it was, I can't remember if it was a thousand people that were surveyed about worry. That only seven or eight percent of the items they've worried about out of the hundred percent of items. or anything that could affect change on. all the rest of the stuff to your point and to scripture's point is that It was wasted time and energy. And, you know, if you.

If we can remind ourselves of that, and then the other second piece of that wheel is: what did Jesus always do before he did anything? He went to the father. He prayed. He talked to the father before he did anything. And so, to you, like you mentioned earlier, if we would do that first.

Seek him and all that we do. We'll talk about that here at the last scripture in this section, but. If we seek him first, then all these other things will indeed fall in line. It may look a little different than we expected it to, but we know it's by his design once we've sought him first. And then in 28 when he talks about clothing.

See, so this is the same thing. If God Finds food for the birds of the air, and they're not putting any seed down, and they're not reaping any harvest. Um But they do eat the harvest. I want to point that out. Yes.

Because I threw some seed out, and because we didn't have a lot of rain. I just fed the birds, you know, and I saw them out there just eating away, and it was like.

Now, there's nothing I can do about this because if I go out there and chew them away or scare them off. You know, 20 minutes later, they're going to be back because they know this is a food source.

So I'm a sneak. Yeah. So even though they're not reaping any harvest, God finds a way for them to eat. Even again, if it's eating the harvests of men. We as God's people should not worry about clothing.

And when we bring this particular passage to our time and day today, we can say the young people, as they did during my day and coming up. They always wanted the name brand items. It's like, you know, I'm not going outside. unless I have the name brand item on. You know, but so they won't they won't wear.

The Shorts or pants from Walmart or Target stores. It's like, no, I'm not going to be caught dead in that. You know, but again, they're clothes. But see, people today want a particular type of clothes, and a lot of that has to do with. Who they are, or who they want people to believe that they are.

Right, right.

So they put on the name brand, and people look at that, and of course. People who are in the name brand, they recognize the name brand, they say, oh, you know, that's such and such. Sure, because if you remember. Roy, just a few years ago, Argyle used to be like a nice name brand shirt. You know, and it had the little crocodile or alligator on it, you know, and people saw that and said, Wow, you know, you got an argyle shirt on, that's pretty nice, you know.

And they made that association, even though you just bought it because it may have been on sale, yeah. You know, if I'm wearing it is because it was on sale.

Now, my wife, she'll occasionally treat me with some name-brand stuff that's not on sale, but she's your brother. My point is, God is providing, Roy. That's the bottom line. God is providing. If He provides Walmart, put on the Walmart because that's what He has provided.

And if it's if it's some other name, uh unnamed brand. Put it on because God has. Supplied it. And if we thank God for what we have. then that's the beginning.

of us receiving additional blessings from God that we may not expect. No, that's good. Really good.

Well, let's finish up these last couple of scriptures here. to close out phase two. Um You just read 28 and 29 says, Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed. like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field with the flowers, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the wind or the fire.

Will he not much more clothe you, you of little faith, with the question mark as Jesus says.

So do not worry, saying, What shall we eat, or what shall we drink, or what shall we wear? For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. as we've talked about through this through this whole section here. but seek first his kingdom and his righteousness. This is the one you mentioned in the first series, Will.

And all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, keep in mind here, folks, therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. And we know that there's another place that talks about where whoever you can add a day to your life. By worrying who can And that's a very good point.

So, really, today's the day to be concerned about.

Now, we're not saying folks don't. Think about your future. Don't think about your retirement. Those are things that I think God's given us wisdom about and tools to learn about, but don't let that be your. Focal point.

Don't let that be your heart. Let that be your planning and being prudent, and taking care of the things that God's blessed you with for the future. Amen. Cause it's good to plan. You know, and when things don't turn out the way that we expect them to turn out.

then that's okay because we know that God is in control. And there's many a times that we've prayed for things. And we we believed. That the prayer wasn't answered, but God answered the prayers of his people. but it may not be what we expect or when we expect.

We may pray for it. And we are looking forward tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, but it may not come in until 30 days because. God knows that you may not be at a point to receive whatever it is you're asking, or there's so much more that he needs to do behind the scenes. before he opened up that opportunity for you so Exactly. And this is what, you know, he's saying here.

Today whatever whatever troubles That we have on today. Most of those troubles that we had won't be solved in a day. Right. Tomorrow is going to bring about another set of troubles, of speculations, of trials, of tribulation, and all of those things now are compounding. on each other because Today The troubles were tomorrow, the troubles are still going to be, and that day.

has its own trouble, even though they may be compounded.

So when Jesus says, sufficient for the day is his own trouble, it's like. These troubles that we have They are not everlasting, but they are only temporary. thing we need to do as God's people is to determine how we're going to Receive whatever trouble comes our way. How are we going to respond to the trouble that's coming our way? And who are we going to trust and stand on?

in order to deliver us from or take us through. Our troubles. Because God is the only one who is able to do that. And if we can't understand. A lot of the basic principles.

and which God has laid out in His Word. then as believers, we have allowed ourselves to fall short. And when we don't know the word of God. Then we're going to rely on our own self, our own intellect, and our own reasoning. That's the only other default that we have.

So that's a finite default. And that's exactly what's going to happen. Finite, finally fail, you know, because it has no spiritual merit. In it, you know, it can't do the things that the word of God can do for you. because it's inferior to the word.

You know, knowledge is temporal. But the word of God is everlasting.

So, if we get the word of God in our lives, then there's nothing. That can come against us. The church God has given power. As he stated in Luke chapter 10, when he sent out the 70. Disciples, he sent them out and he said, I'm giving you power to overcome.

Everything that the devil is going to throw at you. to overcome The devil overcome sickness, disease, all of that. I'm giving you a power. That That word. Power.

comes from the Greek word Exusia. Which means giving them authority beyond reason. In other words, we can't reason it out and we don't understand it. But if we believe it. And let God Trust God to use that.

In the time that he puts us in, then we can be mighty, mighty representatives. For God, there is absolutely nothing we can't do. I'm reminded. Roy. of Dr.

Tony Evans and That's another plug for you to mention that after we finish here. But I remember Dr. Evans recently on a broadcast, he was talking about. And he broke down. He broke down and weeped.

As he was talking about this, he said the most the the prayer that affected him the most in his entire career was when him and his family were around his wife. Praying. And they were praying that God would deliver her and raise her up once again. And he said, when she spoke these words, my whole outlook on what we were doing changed. And what she said to them Yeah, she's she said.

Tony? You have to let me go. You have to let me go. I believe what? I believe the prayers of the saints.

was keeping her where she is. Through their prayers. but she was ready to go home. And when she said to them, you have to let me go, they stopped praying. And I think it was within that hour, she went on to be with the Lord.

I was so moved by that. Because what it taught me Is that As believers.

Sometimes God does things that we don't understand. It's like Cancer in children, Roy. We don't understand. We don't understand why a child three, four, five years old. contacts cancer.

of various parts of their body. We don't understand that. And years and years ago. When I went to the children's hospital that Danny Thomas started and his daughter. Marlowe Thomas is still, yeah.

St. Jude is still. I went in there. But we went in there. Because we had ran the Memphis Marathon.

And my heart was touched to see the children that were there. And I just went out. I didn't question God on why these children had cancer because. I couldn't explain it. And no one can.

But what we do know is If we are led to give. If we are led to help in some way, $5, $10, $25, whatever God places on your heart to give. That could just be a means to help them. to arrive and devise a cure. For whatever these children.

are going through. But many of them, when we went in there, they were sad. Many were happy. They were riding on, you know, the little tricycles and just having a ball. you know, like their life was wasn't affected by this cancer at all.

That, in turn, uplifted me. After I was sad coming in there, it uplifted me to see How The families, everybody were intertwining with each other and interacting with each other and bringing all kinds of. Just good speech and talking about the times. that their child did this and child did that, and it was just a joy to me.

So when we understand that there's always things that's going on that's troubling, just like that last verse talk about. troubling in today, in tomorrow. Things that, you know, we won't have a cure for childhood cancer. right away. It may come in five, 10 years.

We don't know. But we know that if there's anything that we can do, donating toils. I mean, toys to the children's center, things like this. you know things that we can do just to make their day a little bit better then let God bless you to do that, even at your local level. Amen.

I think that's it for me, Roy. Very good, Will. Thank you for that. And, Will, would you like to close us out in prayer as we wrap up this session? Yes, sir.

Father, we just thank you for another opportunity that you have given us to Come and share the gospel message. And we trust that as the listeners listen. that their heart be touched in something that was said, on today on this particular Uh session. And we just ask God that they be moved in such a way by your Spirit. To do whatever it is that they're not doing for the kingdom, that they will be turned around.

to do that which you want them to do. for the kingdom. We thank you for just the platform that you have given us and how you have blessed. Your servant Roy. to let this be about.

and come about in such a way That We can reach out to men, women, children of all races, creed, and nationalities.

So that they can be blessed by your word. And we want to acknowledge you. as the one who is giving us the passion. Because we love you to continue doing what we do.

So we ask that each and every man, each and every spouse that's out there that's supporting that man. Be diligent in what you're doing. half prayer. with your spouse daily. Let the Word of God be the centerpiece.

of your devotion in the morning or in the afternoon or at night, whenever you can get together.

so that your bond to each other can be strong. stronger. And strong yes. and that you grow closer to Christ. And he will in turn grow closer to you.

And you in turn. can grow closer to each other. We thank you, God, and praise you in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen.

Thank you, Will. Folks, thank you for joining us, and we hope you have a great rest of your week. And we will see you on the next show or talk to you on the next show. As we conclude today's show.
