The glory of God is the reason for human existence, and it awaits believers in heaven. Jesus' second coming will bring a glorious revelation of God's presence, and the transfiguration on the mount of transfiguration is a preview of this glory. Moses and Elijah, representing the law and prophets, validate Jesus' identity and mission, and their presence on the mount is a sign of the glory to come. The disciples, overwhelmed by the experience, are commanded to keep it a secret until the Son of Man is risen from the dead.
