This is the Truth Network. Yes, today is a special day on Kingdom Pursuits, as we have a lot going on with the hurricane Helene relief in this area, and we want to highlight a lot of that, but we also have Nikki Coren-White, who is with Live Boldly Ministries, and Nikki, if there was ever a time to live boldly, one of the questions we just asked in the previous show that we—Christian Christians get asked this a lot when there's a disaster the size of what we're facing in North Carolina right now. How did God let this happen?
Right? And you've got to be prepared to have an answer, right, for all the people that are going to ask you, oh, you're a Christian. How did God let this happen? And so—not to put you on the spot— Well, I mean, we live in a fallen world, and I remember in our small group, we watched a little Kirk Cameron documentary, I think it was called Unstoppable, I'm trying to say what the name of it was, but it was a short thing, and his family goes to a cancer camp, his whole family, every summer for the last 20 years, and the next year those kids have died of terminal cancer. And so he gets the question asked all the time, that same question, and the question, you know, how can bad things happen to good people, and how did these things happen? And he kind of goes through in the documentary about the fall, and he goes through Adam and Eve, Tower of Babel, and the flood, and then we can give the hope that God gives us when bad things happen. But they're still going to happen, and they can strengthen our faith, but I don't know if God could let it happen.
I mean, I think things are orchestrated, and I don't know, I mean, things have happened for forever. I think that's amazing, and I've never heard that Kirk Cameron did that, and what— Yeah, I'm trying to think of the name of the film. I'm so sorry. You caught me off guard.
That's okay. We'll get somebody to Google it, and we'll have an answer for you here in a minute. In fact, I'm sure my man right in front of me here, Bill Mixon, would love to Google what's Kirk Cameron's film where he was with the cancer camp. But the idea is—and I was driving across the state of Georgia with my wife in South Carolina, watching all the trees that had fallen and all the devastation, no power, and gas stations that weren't open, all sorts of things that we weren't facing near what people were facing other places. And my wife was like, how did God let this happen? And about that time, Laura Storey's song came on, you know, what if our healing comes through tears?
And what if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know you're near? And I think that sometimes God allows things for all sorts of things. Okay, here we go.
Kurt's camera, it's called Camp Firefly. Yeah, well, and Laura Storey, I teach a neighborhood Bible study. Some people are believers, some people aren't believers in the group. But, you know, Laura Storey's video series, the book is called When God Doesn't Fix It.
Right. And through, I don't know if you've read her book, but through the whole book, she does mention, you know, her doubts through the whole process. And as you know, her husband had a brain tumor, they operated on it. He has permanent long-term, I mean, short-term memory loss. So, like, he didn't even know he was married to her.
And so, and he's had it for like 15 years, and they've had kids, and every morning he gets up and he reads this list of things, oh, I have these kids, I have to take care of them. I mean, God's never fixed it. Yeah. I mean, it's, that would be, I can't even imagine how hard that would be. But for all of you out there who have never read that book, this would be a good time to read it. Oh, yeah. And not to mention your book, Live Boldly.
But we're going to get to that with Laura. We also have our friend Bill Mixonon to carry on with some insurance information, because his passion has been insurance his whole life, and helping people with the insurance issues that they may be facing up there right now. We also have Jerry standing by at Pinedale Church who's working on relief. And of course, I want to speak to the Christian Car Guy show, which I'm the host of, but we've had within that ministry for many years. It's called The Jesus Labor Love.
Usually car repair labor for single moms, widows, and families in crisis. And fortunately, I found out this week that God had allowed us in our bylaws, the way that it was set up by our attorney, who told me himself, he said, Robbie, anything that you do that would uplift the name of Christ, you have the full authority to go do that. And so when Stu Epperson came to me and said, Robbie, we need to do something to help people that kind of fall between the cracks of other social programs or food distribution or whatever it is that where they meet a need, if they can go to your website at christiancarguy.com and fill out an application, and we will pray about it. We will do everything we can to meet whatever need that comes our way to see what God, because we have through the radio station a lot of resources. And we also have a lot of contacts, but we also have our audiences that have met needs through giving away cars and providing for car repairs for years and years and years through the Jesus Labor Love.
I want to mention that again. It's all at christiancarguy.com. But Clay has been actually hanging on for the entire, like, since Christian Car Guy show. He's got a comment for us on what's going on up there.
So, Clay, what you got for us, buddy? Well, Robbie, first of all, you know, I've known you for several years, and I am a diehard listener to Truth Radio, and I really give thanks, you know, to the Lord for you, Brother Stu and everybody else at Truth Radio. You know, it's really touched my heart for what has gone on and what is taking place. And it's interesting that you hear this nice Christian woman talking about what she's talking about. I shared a message about four and a half years ago, a little over four and a half years ago, and I was talking about, I was going to do a whole thing about P-E-A-C-E. I'm naturally believing that I've shared this with you before, but I would like to touch on this just a few moments. The word, the letter P, is providence, God's providence.
And if you think about the first seven letters of that, it's provide. And what has happened, because the government, I can't say too much about them because I'm not a political person, I'm a Christian first, but what the Lord has done in this overall situation is provide for people. I go to several different churches for Bible studies and prayer meetings, and the one I went to Wednesday night really stepped up. I heard Glenn Beck talk Thursday that they were going to be in this big plane loaded up with stuff to take it over there. But Brother Robbie, here's the thing for me, I really have heard and have been able to see people step up, because if you think about the first two commandments, you know, love the Lord God with all your mind, heart, soul and strength, the second one is love your neighbor as yourself, that second commandment has really been instituted with how people are doing other North Carolinians right now because of what's going on.
They have really stepped up. There have been so many churches. So anyway, what I was going to say and share this message that I shared over four and a half years ago, I, in the middle of the message about the providence of God, I shared that God does not cause it, He allows it. Okay, what happened is that Helene was a monstrous Category 4 before they came in, and it caused all that stuff.
Okay, it was not caused by anything, you know, this is Mother Nature. But God allowed this stuff to actually see where our hearts are. And from what you just shared, you just shared that, you know, that y'all were able to get in, people can get in applications to find out they can get assistance for other stuff, because we understand that the government is really not doing what they need to do.
You know, it saddens my heart that this United States of America government sent $800 million to Ukraine, and you're not helping your brothers. Darrell Bock I understand, Clay, but let's not get into that. But I agree with you wholeheartedly on, you know, the way that people have stepped up.

But next up, I want to go to Minnie, is in Ohio, and she's got a comment with scripture. I would love to hear. Minnie, you're on Kingdom Pursuits. Good morning.
Good morning. Yeah, I have some different views on some of that. The scripture said that the enemy is called the prince of the power of the air.
So it could have been him. Could be the judgment of God for what we've been doing and how bad it's been getting. A girl from church said that she thought that it could be the globalist, because they've been doing man-made things for the weather to change to try to shut down the elections, because in the red states this has been going on, water never comes in this far inland. And then I heard a message by Perry Stone quite a few years ago, and he said that there was going to be huge hurricanes on the east and on the south part of the states because of the Trail of Tears that happened with the Indians having to walk clear across the states to go to Oklahoma, and many of them died on the way over there.
They took their land away and sent them to Oklahoma to be put in reservations. So that could be part of it, too. So there's a lot of balls right there. So what's the scripture that you had? I'm interested. Well, scripture says that the enemy is called the prince of the power of the air. Oh, okay.
Okay. You're talking... So he gave him control of this part of the air.
So he's in control of the weather if he wants to do some damage, he's able to do that. So you got into more of the how, how it happened. And so what would you say, Minnie, to somebody like, you know, you've been working with them for a while and they're kind of struggling with whether or not they really want to be a Christian or something like that, and they come to you and they ask that question. What would you say to them if they said why? Why did God let this happen?
Because clearly God let it happen. I think we've got to look at the book of Job. Job is a great book because many of us, including myself, have lost everything.
Children, homes, everything we own. And as long... this is what the book of Job comes out to be. Some girl from... called me and she was depressed by reading it. She goes, it goes on and on. I go, it does.
But it hits everything you've been through. And I said if we hold onto God's hand and we don't get angry with the Lord, even though it's hard, and we stay close to the Lord and we stay faithful to the Lord when it comes out, when we come out at the end, he will bless us, devil, for what we've been through. That's beautiful.

God bless you too. And, you know, sometimes it makes us stronger going through things. If we've never been through anything, we don't understand what anybody else goes through. That's exactly right.
That's exactly right. And it causes us that love the Lord to come together as a group of people, as the body of Christ, to help and love those people and bring them into the Lord. Some may never have found God until they lose everything. Sometimes it takes that kind of pain for them to change or for them to turn to God.
Sometimes they've been off doing their own thing. This is a wake-up call. And it'll get better, and God will help them to recover. Yeah, there you go.

Bye-bye. So, you know, getting back to Nikki, with Living Boldly Ministries, you guys not only obviously—you have speakers that go around. You've grown your ministry a lot since the first time I interviewed you a few years ago.
We have. It wasn't even called Live Boldly Ministries at the time. It was Colossians 312. And I just started by writing my first book about overcoming adversity, not really a princess, and then went into, it's not about the pie, about reaching out to your neighbors. And then during COVID, I just kept thinking that God was still on the throne, which is kind of ties in with your today's thing.
He's still in control. And so I wrote Bold, Living Intentionally in Today's World, and that started a video series, which then spurred on these workbooks that just came out, the Live Boldly workbooks, the three workbooks that go with the video series that just came out. But most of it isn't really to lament totally about everything going on as much as, what are we to do? They're kind of like proactive for us to be purposeful and intentional in what we do, in leading, sharing the gospel with people and encouraging them in their faith, and, you know, that's exactly right. It gives us this unbelievable opportunity in this situation. Like Jerry's ad, and he got back with, Jerry, you're on Kingdom Pursuits, and God's given you this opportunity. Yeah, I know, I'm sorry.
But go ahead. Yeah, at Pinedale Christian Church at 3395, Peter's Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, right across from the Walmart on Peter's Creek. Everybody should be familiar with it. Today till four o'clock, we're taking the donations, trying to fill a 60-foot trailer, get it up to Boone, and tomorrow we'll also be doing it from nine to four. And Robbie, this morning, just listening to callers and Bill, I hope everybody's got a pen and pencil out to our notepad to write down some of those things he was going over, because every little penny's on account for these people are hurting so, so much. But I encourage people, if they're in a Sunday school class, or they just say, I want to collect some stuff, but I don't know how to get it there, tomorrow, this evening, you know, send out a text or something to your class members, have them bring it to church tomorrow, and tomorrow afternoon, bring it by, and we'll put it in the trailer, make sure it gets up there. And also, when Andy was on last hour, it's just so important, you know, and I know Clay mentioned about, you know, some of the stuff going on, maybe the government isn't there, but also that void is a great opportunity for people to share Jesus Christ and do things and be the feet and hands of Christ in this crisis, because people are hurting. Darrell Bock That's absolutely the case. And so speaking of Bill, we want to thank you so much, Jerry, again, for what you're doing. We'll get the shout out one more time before the show closes on what Pinetail's doing. But Bill, we got to get to the car.
We never got to, what about these people with cars? And… Jerry There's something called comprehensive coverage that some people carry, and some people don't. Collision and comprehensive.
You always need to check and see what the price is. I had some vehicles that were extremely old, but the comprehensive was just a couple dollars. Comprehensive coverage covers flood. So… Darrell Bock And it covers trees.
Jerry It covers trees. You need to check and see If you've got that coverage in there, they're gonna be a lot of people that had water damage to their their vehicles It's interesting if they just disappear I'm not real sure what happens if you say it just washed away in the flood, but I'm 90% sure that would be covered Yeah You need to talk to somebody if you've got water up over your your muffler and talk to a mechanic and ask him You know, should I crank this or have it towed to you? If it's up over the the seats that I think it's pretty oh, yeah But but also, you know for some people it's up over the seats and they didn't have insurance They didn't or they didn't have collision or comprehensive And so then the question is what do we do? well If the water did get that high You don't want to just crank it now because if you suck that water into the engine in any way shape or form That will be the end of it.
But with the right mechanic that knows what he's doing And if you're desperate, you know, and maybe begins through the Christian car guy We can begin to find resources up there that can help us with the process, but they're not necessarily down for the count You know a lot of flood cars out there riding around That that have been through horrible things. So You know this part of what we want to describe now on the house Anything that you do to keep it from bit and worse is covered so if you've got Homeowners insurance and you've got trees laying on the house and you got a hole in the roof You want to take pictures pull it off and put a tarp over it and the cost of that tarps going to be covered You've got to do whatever is reasonable under the circumstances to mitigate that to reduce the amount of future Problems. So if I had a tree laying on the house, I'd get some pictures. I'd get it moved off If I could safely and I'd get a tarp up there as soon as possible Trees water damage from rain is covered Rising water is not covered. So if you've got brown around the bottom four feet of your house That's not going to be covered by homeowners, but it would be if they had if they happen to have flood insurance Yeah, hopefully the flood insurance policies are not the easiest policies to work with But that would be the policy that would cover you You want to get the sheetrock out if you can you want to get the carpet out if you can? So that it can dry out So if I had a house that had two feet worth of water in it I would either score the sheetrock and pull it off the bottom part out or I'd pull it off up to the top But you want to get the wet out you want to get the carpet out open the place up and put some fans in if you Can the fans would be covered?
Anything you can do to make the problem smaller is a good good thing to do The more pictures the better you really don't need a whole lot But you do need a few pictures to demonstrate that the sheetrock you took out was wet And of course, this is a huge time to get up with your and just right and have a long discussion with it Well right now it's going to be hard to get up with your agent It's going to be hard to get up with your you want to reach out to your agent and find out what you need to Do if your agents buildings washed away? Then you need to find out what company that your policies with your mortgage company should have a copy So if you can't find it any other way if you're your records aren't available Then I would reach out to my mortgage company and say pull out the file and tell me what company My homeowners policy was with and then go online and try to put in a claim online If you can't online find the phone number and reach out and say I want to start a claim Because it's going to be first come first serve and you want to be on the top of the list Yeah, there you go some helpful Helpful stuff Thank You bill again for staying with us through Kingdom pursuits And of course, we got two more segments left with Nikki and talk about the what Jesus said labor love part of you know Helping with this crisis. And as as your friends have been calling in and talking I was thinking of Lamentations chapter 3 and sharing about Israel's affliction and and People are really discouraged and in in verse verses 18 and 19 says my strengths perish And so is my hope in the Lord remember my affliction and my wandering and the wormwood of my bitterness And then but then it goes to verse 22 Therefore I have hoped the Lord's lovingkindness never sees for his compassion's never failed. I knew every morning great is his faithfulness and To those who seek him again, then it goes down to verse 40 It says let us examine and probe our ways and let's return to the Lord We lift up our heart and hands toward God of heaven and I I just was thinking is like man it's so terrible when you're in a crisis, but you know Scripture over and over and over it gives us hope and actually you can talk about fires in the Boise foothills this morning There is a there's a bit of fire the past day and you can see it from town and they evacuate different neighborhoods But in those foothills, you always see the iconic picture of Boise, but to the side there has been on fire It's still on fire Anyway, is that where is that where you are in Idaho? I am in Boise, Idaho.
Yes, it's correct Did you know I was born in Idaho? No, I didn't aware That's kind of cool I didn't realize you're in Boise I was born in Pocatello Oh awesome, I've been to Pocatello it's lovely We've been there yeah, yeah, so I'm delighted but I do know out west It's just oh my goodness The fire season is terrible, but this foothills thing and it's like we haven't had fires for a little while now But then right in town, I mean you can see especially at night you see the foothills you see the flame you can see that at night, but Yes, and so yes tragedy everywhere Yeah, there there is but you know all the opportunities that are there and so I Noticed at your website that you have speakers that go out and so tell us about that Well, I'm sort of the main speaker. I Go and and I'm part of two different kind of speaker guilds And you know, I I like to give help to encourage Encourage people in their faith. I mean, I think that's what I'm all about And I speak at women's retreats and conferences and stuff But I think I mean, I just would encourage people not to sit at home and watch TV every evening Which I am NOT saying everybody does but I think we've gotten kind of apathetic where we don't go out Don't talk to our neighbors as much and we don't necessarily Go and help people like right now.
There's a crisis. So people are trying to help and do that, but we can think of the elderly gentleman down the street that doesn't ever leave his house or we can think about the young mom that has four little ones that Maybe your husband left and she can't make dinner or there's so many needs that we could think of all the time Love that you bring that up because you know, I was studying the Beatitudes actually, I've been doing a sermon series at my church on the Beatitudes and I actually am coming up with The last one that he kind of launches the whole I never really had thought about it until I would been studying it this Week, he kind of launches all of the rest of the Sermon on the Mount from the one About you know, blessed are you? you know when you're persecuted and reviled and people speak all against you, you know, and And interestingly unlike the previous one, which is for righteousness sake it says this time. It's for his sake for my sake And if you think about that If you're not doing anything for his sake you can't get the blessing I mean the condition of the blessing is it is that you have to do something for his sake and then it's so clear You know when you get in Matthew 25, you know when he said when he shepherd separates those sheep from the goats, it's gonna be you know that that you fed me, you know, the You've fed the hungry and you visited the people in the hospitals and you and and you you know clothing the people that were naked etc, etc, which interestingly has happened in this hurricane situation, but nonetheless, it's those people that that obviously are doing something for his sake and And it's amazing to me the opportunities that he gives us and To embrace them like okay.
What where can I and then when you go on that adventure? As you just heard if you were listening to Christian car guys show Andy Bowersox Who's been up there working in the church all week or Jerry has been working down there the people that are involved in the work Get they get the huge blessing right that's in this present time They get the blessing of seeing what God's gonna do right there in in the middle of that crisis And of course you see that every time, you know You you're sacrificing your time and your talents and your treasures to go to that conference, but then Somebody comes up to you and goes oh man You know you connected you right and you and the light came on for them and you got to take part in that and If you got a story like that that you think about that man, I'm so grateful for that God, let me speak at this place You know, and I think If you're you're exactly right people walk up to you and they share with what's happened and and And you're able to share with them and I think that's one of my favorite things I don't know if there's a specific favorite story, but I think People just saying you encouraged my heart or you could add scripture Encourage me or whatever and I but I guess I feel like it gives them hope that they can move on and share their story and that might encourage someone else and I think of there's you know, there was a lady at our church who was a newer widow and Someone had said they were gonna help her with her roof and then they just never showed up. I just think about my life as a kid and my dad dying when I was a teen and Living on a farm and we think that someone would come help. I think there's probably so many people we all know so many people that need just a little encouragement or need a little help and You could pray for people to be brought to mind pray for God to give you You know Like bring someone to your mind today that you can help and because there's people all around you There's people on your street. There's people at your church. There's you know people that you know There might be a family member and even just taking a meal or just sending a little snail mail card Some sort of thing to encourage somebody.
There's so many there's billions of opportunity I'll tell you a big one when you think about it. I Is people that you know? That got sent to prison even if they were guilty Right, you knew they were and like oh my goodness for them to get a visit It just means the world to them All right. They're gonna be making the distribution but getting back to Nikki I The question that we asked on the Christian car guy showing again on this show is you know What do you say to somebody who says how does God let this happen? And I love love love your lamentations Answer because it so much takes you from that point where it's okay to doubt You know it got to understand that that you're not perfect that you are human, but if Jeremiah doubted I met You know, we there's room for that but then you know We all know the greatest I faithfulness passage and lamentations like what came right before it is so clearly Like how could God let this happen but morning by morning. He's sending hope he's sending people He's sending things to the rescue and and clearly He is not Abandoned us and I I love that and of course, there's a lot more of that coming up in your workbooks, right? Did I lose you Nikki Aha, can you hear me?
Yes. So so after I wrote my book bold, I was just thinking how to take that a step further To like a practical sense. And so I did a 45 week video series and it and some of it talks about well You know, you're hurting but a lot of it is like how you know, how do you write out your testimony? How do you show your faith? How do you mentor someone?
Why should we do that? What does God put in our hearts and and so through that then I did workbooks Little study guides to go with the video series in each workbook And it's 15 of the episodes. So there's three workbooks and this whole big project this whole project is finally done after two years and And I think it's great because it's kind of a practical guide to all of us as we grow in our faith and how we could take steps to move forward and Right and then discipleship and once you get it then obviously you'll be in a position to disciple others And again, you know, it's her ministry is living boldly Ministries calm but also you could just go to King of pursuits links right there to the workbooks all those wonderful wonderful Resources are there again at Kingdom pursuits calm or living boldly boldly Ministries calm we got Mike is in Ohio.
He wants to answer the question for so Mike How are things in Ohio? Do you get your power back on buddy? Yes in real quickly as soon as you after you guys prayed the power came off I mean, I mean soon as I hung up, I mean, isn't that God right there?
I mean the power was like that. Yeah, and then the the DP on all trucks or where that's what we call them here Came by and I stopped and I'm I thankful I thanked him in that and a matter of fact I held hands with about three of them and we prayed for them to keep them safe and that I Hate to hurry you but you got to get to why does God do this because we only got about a minute left okay, real quickly I had to give my my generator to a neighbor down the street because I you know, he was out of power still and they had to get a cut tree down and He asked the question. Why are you doing this? And I says well because God I follow God and God wants me to do this kind of stuff and and He says well, why does I allow this to happen? I says well God I said, wow That's a great question. I said well God God created the world but then He's not in charge of the world He's he he's not in charge of us We allow we allow God to be in charge of us and we allow God to be in charge of the world If we allow God to charge of the world, he'll bless you through the world But also he will also bless us bless us through, you know from other people if we allow God to deal with our hearts and God gave us that free will and so one day he's coming back I told him and he's going to strain on the earth and be king again, and we won't have to worry about these things and And and that was an awesome that I was able to say that that man now what a wonderful opportunity you had Well, I hate we cried.
