Provides for this show over the years, so many different amazing people, and to start off with. We have Welton James and Welton wrote a book. Called Weltonisms and I got to tell you that it is it is truly a classic especially if you're me and you have if you like to laugh in between wisdom This is the book. Here's one example of a Weltonism before we welcome Welton himself. It says, when in a pool of sharks, Don't let what comes out of your mouth resemble baloney.
That's just plain funny. I'm sorry. And I'm fairly certain, having been in a few pools of sharks, I've made that mistake, Welton. Welcome. Thank you so much.
It's an honor to be with you. Oh, wow. And so, I mean, here's an entire book. The book from cover to cover is just these sayings that are all, it's like a book of Proverbs. in current age.
So I gotta know how did God put this one on your heart?
Well As a little kid growing up in West Virginia, Grandmom always lived in in the house. When she got too old to take care of herself, she moved in with few. Poor folks didn't have Old folks' homes. Right. And every one of my friends, there was a grandmom, and sometimes there were two.
There was grandmom and great grandmom. And back then they called it little mama and big mama. Grandmom would say, Come here, boy, come here. And uh the kids would run because they knew if they stopped they were going to be there for a while. But I felt that was disrespectful.
I would sit with Grandmom. And I would hear these same things over and over again. I'd be called by my brother's name. And but I would sit there and listen. As I got older, these things started to come out of my mouth in various situations.
And people at work would coin them and call them Weltonisms.
Now my godmother said, Boy, you don't realize how often these things come out of your mouth. You need to get you a scrap of paper and write them down. One day you'll have enough for a book. And so over the years, trying to figure out what this book would look like, I could not get it together. I did a Interview with a local pastor, P.
Owlson, from uh the forage group. And at the end of the interview, he said, Boy, you should write a book. I said, I've been writing that book, Pastor, for 30 years. He'd say, well, I have a publisher. I said, well, no one's ever said that before.
He put me with Higher Life Publishing, and we got it done. Yes, they do. And so that's you can see we have a whole wealth of Weltonisms coming your way today, as well as I've got Timothy Moore with us. He he drove all the way from Asheville to be in the studio with us today, and He emailed me. couple weeks ago and and said You know, he he wanted to meet, I guess, somebody along the same line.
He called himself a gearhead disciple. And so, Timothy, I like that idea of a gearhead disciple. And so Share a little bit about who you are.
Well, I guess the The best way to start it would best way to start it would be where I got my heart from, that'd be from my mama. Uh she had M S for about thirty years before she passed a few years ago. And then, um In my twenties I was a personal trainer.
Sorry, in my 20s I was a personal trainer. And then about 2008, when the economy kind of took a dive. I went to school to uh become uh EMT basic and then EMT paramedic.
Well, uh, towards the end of my clinical rotations, it's Thousands of hours of stuff. Uh I snapped my L5 in fat in half carrying a patient. I still finished my, you know, pretty much. Your L5 is what? In my low back, the very lowest.
Oh, it's the lowest vertical. Oh, wow. I broke my back. Literally. Yeah, so I still finished school, got, you know, I passed my AMT or my AMT, my paramedic national registry and everything.
I just It got to where I could just barely walk. Like, I don't even know how to explain it. I was wearing back belts with ice packs, and this is stubborn me, just go, go, go. And it. eventually got to where I was stuck on a cane for a while, so It was um It was an interesting experience.
And so God came into the picture. Long after that. Really? I guess he kind of came in then because I actually. I was I was determined I was about to kill myself.
I was very determined that it was done. And then I just I heard something, Your work here's not done. I'm like, whatever and I just started crying, put it away. You know, I haven't done it since, but I wasn't like, you know, oh, that was God talking to me. I was just I thought it was me.
I thought it was a voice in my head, just trying to wean her out of it or something. I'm really not sure. But uh I I really don't know how to explain it. I I I quit pills, that was hard, but then I started drinking, and then the drinking turned into drinking every day, all day. and then that turned into recreational drugs and everything else.
And then one night I'm just sitting there about as drunk and as high as I could ever get and then playing on YouTube and then song comes on and I just I couldn't quit listening. I had uh Brandon Lake gratitude made me cr ball crying for Hours. I just, I don't know. Then I was just, I'm sorry, father. I'm sorry.
Show me what to do.
So ever since then I've just been seeking.
Okay. And what did he show you to do? First, it was just get saved, study the Bible, and then where did you go to get that done? Where did I go to get saved? Yeah.
Uh Gramby and um Colorado we went to little lake up there and got baptized mima wafted on our fourth anniversary. It was and who did you meet that that helped you know how to get saved? Or did you grab it? Oh, my wife, I guess you can say, she was a preacher's daughter. But when I met her, we were both lost, you know.
And then, um I don't know, just sh just hearing her sing praise and worship and her Bible stories and everything else just kinda I guess put that little seed in my ear. And just still working on my heart. Yep. And then he just met me there at my worst, just like he always does.
Well, you can see we've got an interesting story coming from Timothy, and of course. Plenty of Weltonisms, and so I'm very curious, Welton, as you've been listening to Timothy. Have you got s a Weltonism that has just jumped out at you?
Well, actually, uh no, I'm I'm just amazed at its story, um, especially as it relates to drugs and alcohol. And I lived in that world for Half of my life in September the 15th, 1984, was my last drink and my last drug. And uh a complete change in my and ch complete change in my life. That's beautiful. as a little kid I was cursed with a word and it was called potential.
Because people would see that I was not living up to what I could possibly be. And I thought it was a curse. But it continued to stay around. with the grace of God and some programs, I was able to change my life.
So And what was the what was the the moment For you, well, it that You feel like God came after you.
Well, I got sick and tired of being sick and tired. I I um I I had an incident where I was doing drugs with someone. And for the first time in my whole uh street life. I did not see what was different between me and that person. I saw what that person and I had in common.
That all the denial that I had, that I was not as bad as the next guy. all of a sudden I got a chance to see that I was on the same track, my train just hadn't run me over yet. And uh on that day I asked God And I wasn't uh exactly humble, I said to God, If you are there, Please save me. get me off of this track. He spoke into my heart and said today, I have a place for you.
I'm not saying anything about tomorrow, but today I have a place for you. and that was the day that changed my life. Uh Wow. And so fascinatingly, as I'm sitting here Thinking about this, it was a similar thing for you. It was a conversation between you and God.
Mm-hmm. Absolutely. Tell people he met me where I was. You know, when you look at the word life in Hebrew, which also could be translated quicken, if you look in the 119 Psalm several times, it says, quicken me, and it actually is saying, give me life. or when God spoke life into people that that word Um Has this Aspect of God literally touching you.
Yeah, I can definitely see that. When you look inside of it. And so it's clear that God touched both of you and He brought life. And so how fun. I'm amazed at what God is setting up for us here today on Kingdom Pursuits.
Of course, when we come back, we're going to play a little shenanigans with the idea of wisdom. That'll be fun. And we've got a whole lot more like another one of my favorite Weltanisms that I came across. It's better to be seen picking your nose than to be seen needing to. You're listening to The Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com.
Everybody Welcome back to Kingdom Pursuits, where we hear how God takes your passion. And uses it to build a kingdom. And so fascinating passions, one today being. Weltonisms, and the other one is, you know, how is God going to use my life? And it's a story for many of us.
And as he begins to walk in that, it's wonderful to see. But right near the break, I didn't get a fi chance to finish my Weltanism before we get to play shenanigans.
So what I began to say is it's better to, and this is straight out of the book, page 29. It says it's better to be seen picking your nose than to be seen kneading it.
Okay. That's some wisdom right there, Nick. I'm telling you. It is much better. And it just makes me feel better all over, Welton.
I got to tell you. And so, with that idea of wisdom, Nick, I think it's time. But now love. Funding game. And we have a couple of rookies to shenanigans today.
So, Welton, are you with us? Um I think Welton might have Dropped off or he might have put his phone on mute. Oh, you're there.
Okay. So, the idea of shenanigans here is: I'm going to ask some riddles that are based on.
Well, sort of your humor/slash dad joke humor. And if you have an answer, just jump in there. We want to see. And, you know, at the end, I'm going to ask a Bible riddle that I don't want you to answer because the listeners can call in and win.
So. Speaking of wisdom. And Nick knows how to play real well because he's played for years.
So, speaking, what do you get if you go to Herbalist looking for wisdom? What do you get if you go to Herbalist, Nick? Looking for wisdom. You got any ideas? An herbalist looking for wisdom.
Yeah. You liked the picking nose idea, didn't you? That was classic. It was a great one. Do you know what you get when you go to an herbalist looking for wisdom?
Could be a lot of things. A lesson on roots, maybe? A lesson on roots, ooh? That's good. That's good.
That actually is quite good. Not the answer I was looking for, but. What do you think, Welton? The root of all evil. Their root.
You get sage advice.
Okay, now you got the hand of it.
So. Yeah. Practically speaking, what's the difference between knowledge and wisdom? This one's a little harder than most. Nick.
What is. Practically, you know, if you want to speak practically, what's the difference between knowledge and wisdom? That is his tumper, I'm going to tell you. It is. It is.
Knowledge is knowing tomatoes are fruit. Wisdom is not putting tomatoes in the fruit salad. All right. Feel free to use that one weld in your next book. Yeah.
Oh, this one is a little comical. I doubt if you know it, but I still like it. What is Italian for wisdom? What is Italian for wisdom, Nick? What do you think?
Uh I have no clue. I w uh hmm Eat spaghetti to forgetty your regretti. That is corny, I love it. That is corny. And of course, the last one for you guys.
Which actually is pretty simple. I think you can get it. Why didn't the dentist let Jack Nicholson keep his extracted wisdom tooth? Why didn't Jack Nicholson. Keep his extracted wisdom.
Two. What did he why didn't the dentist let him? Hmm. He couldn't handle the truth. Oh, you got it.
He couldn't handle the tooth. Very good. Way to go.
Well, you're a winner. All right. Well, you knew at the end of those shenanigans, we'd actually have a riddle for you to call in and win today. And so here it is. If you have the answer to this, you call us 866-348-7884.
866-348-7884. Why is the Bible... better Talk about wisdom. Why is the Bible better than a dictionary? 866-348-7884.
And if they can guess why is the Bible better than a dictionary, Nick, tell them what they'll win. Absolutely. Yes, you'll be winning a prize from our Kenyan Pursuits Prize Wall if you know the answer to Robbie's Riddles. 866-348-7884. We have action Bibles, we have back scratchers, we have so many prizes just waiting to be given.
Is it Narcan? It is Narcan. Yes, we also have Narcan. We do, since we we've been restocked with Narcan. The Bible back scratchers, I'm seeing them.
It's actually a gospel back scratcher because it's got the beads. You know, while you're scratching somebody's back, you can explain them about the blood of Christ, etc. It's wonderful stuff. That's all you have to do is tell us why the Bible is better than a dictionary. Seems like a simple enough question: 866-348-7884.
And so. Again, This book, Weltonisms. It will make you think, it will make you laugh. Um But you know what I've often discovered with authors, Welton is you might imagine I get to interview a ton of them. Yeah.
is they go on this journey to write this book, And then all of a sudden God shows them something. Along the way, that was probably some wisdom that you were like, Oh man. I didn't think of that. And so is there some in this book that Literally, God handed to you on a silver platter, or maybe he did all of them. When I went to the publisher, I had a whole shoebox full.
and he reviewed them. And he sent back several ones that may be construed as not Not proper. Uh in in the in the and the lay of the land. And I said, well, it's important to me that my book will be available in my church's bookstore.
So let's make sure we have everything that no innuendo in there. And over the course of time, I I keep going back to this book every about about every three weeks. And I'm just so humbled by the fact that God chose me to be the vessel. There's nothing in this book that says I'm smart. But the book keeps speaking deeper and deeper.
into meanings For for life, for responsibility. uh for self-assuredness and direction in a in a person's life. A good example is a quote that says, leaders have scars.
Well, in Hebrews twelve eleven it says, From the moment of discipline seems painful. For the moment, all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant. But later he It yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. And so I Yeah. The reason why I wrote the book is that it would reach people Who would not have the advantage that I had of a grandmother living in the house to pass this information on?
So the book continues to speak to me. but it also continues to speak to a lot of people who when I see them Quote. the book back to me. I'll bet they do. I'll bet they do.
Here's one of those that stuck out to me as God-given. Right. is I have seen this And it's actually very scriptural because it says if you really need one, God will send you another mother. Game. If you look in Mark 10.30, it says Those who have given up mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers for my sake and the sake of the gospel lands, it says, will not fail to receive 100.
Mothers. Fathers. Right? And I can tell you Um That not fathers, but mothers, you only get one father, but you'll get mothers, brothers, sisters, etc. Yend.
Fascinatingly. How many times, when you think about it, that you needed, you desperately needed somebody to mother you through a situation, and God sent them? Yeah. Um Absolutely. Like you say, there's wisdom in there.
There's also the Bible in there. And I'm I'm curious about that one. Where did that one come from? It was just something that All right, so one of the things I have an ear for these things.
So when I hear them, they kind of stick with me.
However, I will run into a situation where all of a sudden it would just flash into my mind. Um And it just becomes a part of who who I who I am. And so at a time of my life, people came into my life. A mother I called her Godmother, came into my life at a critical time in my life. and it dawned on me.
that if you need, if you really need another mother, God will send you one. Um, and and it's just amazing thing, okay. I'll give you an example of one. If your art starts to sing. Get the elephant off first.
Okay. Well, in Hebrews 12, 11 it says... let us also lay aside every weight and sin which clings so closely. and let us run from the endurance of the race that is set before us. Yeah.
So these things kind of stick with me and they become the rudder for my ship. Right. Moving over to Tim, Timothy, a second.
So you you started, you know, God Then he took you into the Bible. Yeah. And so talk about that journey a little bit with us. Um Which part? You know, how God put it on your heart to start reading it and what you discovered when you started.
Well, I was doing, I guess. I guess I don't know how to explain it, like a rookie type, but I was listening to videos and stuff like that. And then after we got saved, my wife and I got saved together. Um Just the thought of becoming a minister popped in my head, and I literally was laughing at it. You know, me, yeah, right.
It's not even possible. And then I told him if that's the case, because it just wouldn't leave me alone. I was like, just fill me up, fill my brain up, fill my heart up, make my mouth work, just fill me up. And I've already been through just reading the Bible the whole thing once. I'm probably close halfway through just like deep studying phrase for phrase, chapter for chapter.
I spend two or three hours a day just. Obsessed with it, I guess you could say. Yeah, once you develop a taste, it's pretty hard to spit out. Amazing. I gotta know more, I gotta get closer.
And it's fascinating. He begins that preparation. As I'm sure Welton has experienced as well. All right, well, we got to go to a break. We will be back with a whole lot more Kingdom Pursuits.
Remember, why is the Bible better than the dictionary? You're listening to The Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to Kingdom Pursuits where we hear how God takes your passion. And uses it to build the kingdom today. We're so blessed, really, to have with us Welton James.
His book, Weltonisms: Ancient Wisdom for Modern Problems. And we have Timothy Moore. Who is broken To Be Built, is that right? Yes, sir. That's the name of the book that you're working on.
And so, you know, what a neat title: Broken to Be Built.
So. Tell our listeners a little bit about that.
Well, I mean, it it goes with cars, obviously, as well, but um Uh I was broken down to where literally I couldn't walk. I was in bed for six months. I just didn't do anything but watch T V. And then from there, just I built my body up. I thought it was all me.
It's obviously God in the background doing it for me. And I actually got up on stage and competed twice in NPC bodybuilding.
So I built my body up pretty good after the surgery. And then that's when I just hit rock bottom actually, you know, mentally rock bottom, just drinking and drugs and lust and all that stuff.
So So You thought if you could get back to walking and talk and all that stuff, that your life would be back, and you didn't find what you were looking for. I didn't know. I got more lost. And were you married at that point? No, I met her Uh towards the end I I didn't I didn't compete again after I met her.
I was I was real close to competing again when I met her though. I was like in shape for it. And so W in in the book that that you're thinking about Share with us a little bit of what you think God is laying out for The format of the book.
Well, if it's a sin, I've probably done it, or, you know, close to. And, um,. That's where he goes for the sinners. He was going for in the Bible, he was going for the prostitutes, tax collectors. He was going to the sinners to try to save them because we matter to him, too.
We all are, by the way. Yeah, every single one of us. Not a single righteous person in Christ Jesus. And so He took you that and I guess from from that perspective that was What broke you? Yeah.
Didn't know where I was going. I'd lost all my purpose. You know, after I brought my back, I love helping people. I'd lost. my purpose at that point.
And so you to be built, when if you were to compare it to Like you said, a car, right?
So A drag car, so to speak. A lot of times there's gonna be a car, it doesn't have an engine. What would need to be done? to rebuild that car so that it's actually more godly, I guess. I said, what if you send a piss or a a rod up into the sky?
Does that make it more heavenly? But afterwards, you're going to want to build it where it's not going to send it back into the sky. You want to keep it inside. But the idea is to to build it strong enough to hold And BEP everything you throw at it. idea of running fast because you love drag racing, right?
And you actually want to minister to people in drag racing. Yes, so that's all right. I mean, all racing is cool too. I you know, I'll go to the NASCAR, everything. IndyCar, I've never seen that.
That would be super fun but drag racing is just where my heart is you know so i want to go smell some tires burning some nitromethanol something and it gets gets my blood just Take one. And so those people are running really fast. And it seems like in your life you've run really fast.
So, so fast. Right. Do you think you can outrun God? No, you just gotta run into a wall every single time. You can try.
You can try your best, but Luckily he he kept. coming for me anyway. And he's still on his way. Oh, Amen. There's no doubt.
I'll take it. Getting back to you, Welton. Is there a um Another book or where do you think you go from here?
Well, you'd ask me about uh special moments.
Well, I'm I'm continuing to have the one. Recently, I felt as though God said to me, take the book. and have it reprinted in a pocket size. And I and I did so. And people are able to carry it in their glove compartment, in their pocketbook.
in their suit pocket. and so on. But then God said to me, Have the book reprinted in Spanish. I said, Well, God, I I said, God, I don't speak Spanish. He goes, I know.
I made you.
Okay. And so now the book is being typeset. And, um check for punctuation. It's already been translated into Spanish.
Now it's just going to the final stages. We'll be out soon. But the person who is marketing for the company that did the translation. has just joined an international group and he's headed back to Argentina, and he's taking the book to Argentina to the conference to spread with people, knowing that very shortly the book will be out in Spanish. And so we will be able to distribute it in that regard.
So God is relational. He puts people in your path if your eyes are open. your ears are open, but more importantly if your heart is open, to what he's trying to say. Yeah. then it's amazing what happens next.
Yeah, I love it because every time You feel his touch in whatever way that might be, you feel alive. Absolutely. Here here's another one that is so intriguing to me because it's got about It's like a diamond. It has about forty facets to it, as I've just been sitting there thinking. It says.
You cannot stand still. Yes.
Okay. You see me over here fidgeting. That was for me. You know, yeah, there's the whole idea of number one, there's no such thing as you being able to stand still. That's obvious.
Maybe it's not obvious, but it's something to think about. But by the same token If you stand still Then obviously you're not moving forward, and you're either moving forward or you're going backwards. There's that whole idea. Absolutely. There there are so many ideas and just four words.
Yes.
You cannot stand still. And so, how about that one? Where'd that one come from? Again, I was in a situation where I thought that what I needed to do was just stand still for a moment. And then it dawned on me.
Everything on this planet is moving. Everything in the universe is moving. The only thing that is stationary is God.
Okay. And he's moving in and out of our lives. And so I realized that standing the thought of standing still doesn't really exist. I'm actually I'm actually falling backwards. Maybe I need to move forward a little slower.
But it but you can't stand still. No, the earth is abs obviously that that's another whole angle to it that the Earth is spinning. And every single atom in your body is spinning, and there's a whole lot of movement going on. And so it's it again, there's just You took time. Obviously to think through these things.
No, I didn't. That that's that's the m that's the that's the mystery. I didn't. I I hear something, it resonates with me. I write it down only to find out later it has a deeper, deeper meaning.
Okay. Uh had an opportunity to uh to to do a similar show like this. said to me, Once I sent them the a copy of the book in advance, They're going to pick five, and they wanted me to pick five, and that's what we would talk about.
Well, when they picked their five, the five they picked they felt were closely aligned with things that were said in the Bible.
Well, I did the same thing with my five, except I put my five into chat. An ass shit. How do this how does this quote align with the Bible? what I was amazed at is as I continued to put quotes in there, how many Bible verses immediately connected. with these things.
and it has now opened up a completely different world. For me. Nothing in this book says I'm smart. Only thing the book says is is that I was chosen to be a vessel. Yeah exactly.
Yeah. Who was the first person that coined the Weltonism idea. I worked at Tropicana Hotel Casino for about 15 years as the executive director. I was the executive director of quality assurance. I mean, I got into the industry as a bellhop.
at Playboy Hotel Casino and eventually over a long career. I finally reached that level and it was doing those seminars. that I would use these quotes and people would call them welcome uses. That's awesome. All right, well we'll be back with one more segment of Kingdom Pursuits.
Stay tuned, we got a whole lot more with Welltonisms, which by the way, if you go to kingdompursuits.com, you can get the book right there. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to Kingdom Pursuits, where we hear how God takes your passion. And uses it to build the kingdom.
So blessed to have with us today Timothy Moore, a gearhead disciple who's on his way. Uh to seeing what steps in ministry God has for him like so many of us as we uh venture out with God, you know, how Exactly, can we take part in glorifying him? And is that through ministry? Is that through books? How does that work?
And then we have Welton James. He is the author of Weltonisms: An Ancient Wisdom for Modern Problems. And I was saying right before the break that if you go to kingdompursuits.com, Um you will find His book, you can just click on it and order it from Amazon. Or is there a place you would prefer they order the book from?
Well. Absolutely. It's a Weltonjames dot com. This will allow me to send the book to them. At the same time, I'll be able to autograph the book.
There you go. Welton James. It's just W-E-L-T-O-N-J-A-M-E-S. Just like it sounds. Did you say dot com?
Yes, I did. Thank you. Welton James. And so Welton You know, when you were thinking about the show today, what were you hoping you would get said that you haven't had a chance to say yet?
Well, it the book is about inspiring people and giving them direction. As I look at some of those sayings, And how they have impacted my life without realizing it. For an example, people in most need of advice. are usually the last to accept it. In Proverbs it says, A scoffer does not like to be Repose.
He will not go to the wise. And so I would hope people would see that it speaks to a very positive approach to direction. for every walk of life. and price absolutely, positively is in there. Yeah, that's the The the challenge Even for the prideful, right, to admit I need help.
And. You know, it's kind of neat. Really, as you as you read through his book, Um that all of a sudden you're going to see things you hadn't really thought. Amen. And again, as we're all growing in truth and growing in our understanding, you know, this is a thought-provoking book, there's no doubt.
And it does a whole lot of that along the line. And again, it's called Weltonism's Ancient Wisdom. for mountain problems um How how long ago did you write it well?
Well, over the course of thirty years, it took to accumulate all of these things, and I'm still accumulating them. I was speaking to my brother the day and in the middle of the conversation, he said, never argue with a stop sign. I said, hold it, hold it. What did you just say? I said, that I preached.
Okay. He didn't even realize he had said something.
Okay. Uh-huh.
So it offers a lot of direction for people. And again, it's in the process of continuing. My next project, because of the fact that someone said something that resonated with me. And and I've in the book, it says to people, if if there's something you don't understand, basically, you know, here's my phone number, and and and people say to me, I was talking to my dad and he thought it meant one thing, and I thought it meant another, which one of us is right? And then both of them are wrong.
Okay, so what we find is that. A quote using AI. Ask AI, what does this quote, how does this quote relate to the Bible? It's amazing what you get back. And so people are lazy, so I think that's my next project is to send the book through uh comparisons for verses in the Bible and then publish that.
There you go. And so Timothy Moore again. As you look forward to your journey, right, Tim, you're looking for. Where to fit into ministry, where to possibly get your book done. Uh what would be some words you'd want to leave our audience with?
