Welcome to the Kerwin Baptist Church broadcast today. Our desire is for the Word of God to be spread throughout the world so that all may know Christ. Join us now for a portion of one of our services here at Kerwin Baptist Church, located in Kernersville, North Carolina. Tonight, and their director, and we appreciate Mercy Mountain girls. What a blessing to invest in lives.
Amen. What God did, if you were here this morning, what God did for Mary Magdalene. God can do for others. Aren't you glad of that tonight? I want you to turn your Bible to the book of Ephesians.
In chapter number five, Ephesians in chapter number five. or chapter number six, I'm sorry. Ephesians chapter 6 and also the book of Matthew in chapter number nine. Ephesians 6. Excuse me, and Matthew chapter number nine.
We may look at one other text as well in Matthew. But before we read tonight, I would like to say. I'd like to invite you to follow us on our social media outlets and be a part of that. We're on Twitter, the old Twitter, which is XMedia now, and then of course Facebook, and we have a lot of friends and followers out there.
Something we've just launched in the last few weeks. Is our real ministry on the Facebook part where we do sermon clips? And it's amazing the response that we're getting from those reels.
So be sure to follow us on those outlets and watch the Lord bless. And like I know, only He can. Look with me tonight, Ephesians 6, and in verse number 18. Notice what the Bible says. Praying always with all prayer and supplication In the spirit.
and watching thereunto. with all perseverance. and supplication for all saints. Verse 19. And for me.
that utterance may be given unto me That I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel. for which I am an ambassador in bonds that therein I may speak boldly. A has I ought to speak.
Now hold your place there and look in Matthew chapter number nine. And in verse number 36, Matthew chapter 9. And in verse number 36, Notice what the scripture said. But when he saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion on them because. They fainted and were scattered abroad.
as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous. But the laborers are few. Notice verse 38. Pray ye therefore, the Lord of the harvest.
that he will send forth laborers. into his harvest.
Now, if you'll turn over just a couple of pages. To Matthew chapter number 18. Matthew chapter 18, I want to read a couple of verses and this will conclude our reading tonight. Matthew chapter 18, notice verse number 19. Jesus says again.
I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth, as touching anything that they shall ask, It shall be done for them. of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together, In my name there. M I in the midst of them Let us pray. Father, we thank you tonight.
for letting us be back in the house of the Lord. What a blessing to hear the choir and the specials. Lord, to hear the Mercy Mountain girls tonight testify. And sing the praises of God. Lord, we could honestly go home now.
and say it's been good to be in your house. But Lord, it's preaching time, and here I stand. Lord, I know without you, I can do nothing. And I pray here for a little bit. You'll pull our attention in where you want it to be.
Speak to us tonight, like I know that only you can. And Lord, all that's accomplished. We'll thank you, we'll praise you, and give you glory for it. In Jesus Christ's name, I pray. Amen and amen.
As we begin the reading tonight in Ephesians chapter 6, Then we moved over to Matthew chapter 9. And then ultimately in Matthew chapter 18. If you were paying attention, you saw a theme running through these three passages. The theme is that of prayer. I come to you tonight, I just want to give you what's on my heart.
For this service this evening. As I read these three different passages, Within those passages, I find really simple to see four prayers. And I want to suggest tonight. And I'm going to challenge the Kirwan Baptist Church. to take on these four prayers.
I'm preaching tonight on four prayers. for the Kirwan Baptist Church. These prayers are not my opinion. They're not what I think. They are what thus saith the Lord.
And I believe if we love our church like we should, we should faithfully endeavor to pray for our church. How many of you love your church? Say amen right there.
Well, we as God's people, I want us to commit tonight to these four simple prayers. and ask God to bless us. and ask God to help us to remember. And to be faithful and to watch God work. If you still have your Bible open, let's begin with prayer number one.
Now, I'm gonna have to have some help tonight in my preaching, and I want you to look with me as we look in the scripture, and let's let the Bible say what it says and let God speak to our hearts. I believe I'm looking at people tonight who are candidates. To get on board and to really get serious. Here we are, we're just in the first part. of 2026.
And friend, it's time to make a commitment. It's time to get serious. It's time to get on our knees before God and pray for our church. Number one, would you look in verse 18? We're gonna let the Bible say what it says.
Notice verse 18. Praying always, it didn't say sometimes. It didn't say part-time. It said praying always with all prayer. And supplication in the spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance.
And supplication. Notice the last three words. Do you see it? For all saints. For all saints.
Number one, prayer tonight. This is simple, but we'd be amazed at how many of us have failed on the opportunity that we have to pray one for another. Our first prayer tonight is to pray one for another. Could you say that with me out loud and help me tonight? Pray one for another.
Could you say it again? Pray one for another. As you come in and out those doors. Of this great church, something happens to you. You may not even realize it, but it does.
You become aware. Of the burdens and the problems and the difficulties of your brothers and sisters in Christ. And friend, God doesn't let these burdens fall upon our ears without purpose. The purpose is that we would be attentive, that we would be alert, that we would become vigilant and pray one for another. How important it is.
I pastored in this same town for 28 years. I've been on the road now. As an evangelist for 10 years, I don't know a lot about pastoring and ministry, but I believe I got this part down correct. Satan labors long and hard to keep the unity of the church upset. He does his best to bring discord, to bring havoc.
to bring gossip, to bring murmuring and backbiting to our congregations. Remember, that's the work of Satan. He never comes to unite. He always comes to divide. But I tell you one way you can ward off all of that division.
If we quit talking about each other to each other and start talking about each other to the Lord. And I'm talking about getting serious about praying for one another's needs. You know somebody in this church that's got a physical burden. You know somebody in this church that's got a financial burden. You know somebody in this church that their family is burdened down with all kind of family problems.
Well, friends, God let us know these things for the purpose that we might pray one for another. Just the other day, I was riding down the road. And my phone rang, and I saw it on my screen who was calling. It was a pastor that I preached for out here on the revival circuit. And the pastor got on the phone and said, Hey, Brother Anderson, I know you're busy.
But my little boy here, Eli, Wanted to know, could he talk to you? Eli is eight years old. I said, sure, put Eli on the phone. I've always got time to talk to Eli eight years old.
Well, when Eli got on the phone, I said, How you doing, Eli? I haven't saw you lately.
Well, he didn't respond like I thought he would. He just began to cry. He cried the whole conversation. I never got a word out of him. I listened to him cry, and I said, Eli, Put your dad back on.
Well, when dad got back on, I said, brother, what's up with Eli? He's always a happy little boy. What's going on? He said, well, preacher, now, this may seem like a small thing, but Eli just had his tonsils taken out about three weeks ago. And Eli should be past all of the problem of that.
But Eli has an ongoing sore throat. And it's really hurting him. And the doctors say they don't understand why. Because at this point, he should be past all that pain. I said, okay, put Eli back on the phone.
I said, Eli, dad told me that you got a really bad sore throat. And we're going to pray right now on this phone that God's going to touch your sore throat. And he said, okay, I prayed a prayer, asked the Lord to touch Eli's sore throat.
Well, we hanged up, said goodbye, hanged up. And then just about a week later, Dad calls me again. He says, Brother Don, he said, I just wanted to let you know that Eli's sore throat is all gone. And Eli, just eight years old, you know what he attributes it to? The fact that we prayed together over the telephone.
Now, I know you're thinking, well, that's just a little boy. And that's just a little thing.
Well, Right during the same time period, I'm closing a revival not far from here, and my wife and I are in the foyer shaking hands. A little girl comes by, nine years old. Her name is Arielle. Arielle is crying. I said, Arielle, what's up?
What's wrong? She said, Preacher, Miss Juanita, I've got to have toe surgery tomorrow, and I'm really scared about that. I said, Well, Arielle, well, let's just stop everything. Let's just stop right here, stop the shaking hands line. They can wait just a minute, and let's pray about your toe surgery.
Well, we did. Her dad, about a week later, calls me and said, Brother Anderson, do you remember praying for Arielle's toe surgery? I said, I sure do. He said, Arielle had great success. She walked into that surgeon's office with no fear and no tears and no crying, and there was great success with her toe surgery.
Now, I know you're thinking, little girls, little toes, little boys, little tonsils, those are little things, but friend, to those children, Children, their big things. And I'm telling you, it will strengthen the faith of the children if they see the adults getting serious about praying and watching God bring it to pass.
Well, right during that same time frame, we got another phone call. This phone call is from my brother-in-law, my wife's brother. His wife, June, age 63, has just had a massive heart attack.
Now we're moving to big stuff. an adult. And a massive heart attack. The heart attack was so severe that her heart died. Inside of her body, she went on life support, she went on an artificial heart supply, and immediately went on a list for a heart transplant.
Now, folks, that's getting serious. Say amen.
Well, there's June about to die with a dead heart, and now she's on the heart transplant list.
Well, my wife and I, and others too, called on the God that touched little Eli's tonsils. We called on the God that touched little Ariel's toes. And we said, God, you touched the boy's tonsils, you touched the girl's toes, and God, you can touch June's dead heart.
Now, you may not be a believer, but I'm going to tell you what happened. God Almighty got on the scene. And guess what happened to June's dead heart? Her dead heart came back to life. She went off the transplant list, went off life support.
And if June walked in here tonight, you'd never think she ever had a problem.
Now, here's how we, I said all that to say this: here's how we look at those situations: the tonsils. a little thing. The toes. A little thing. A dead heart?
No, that's a big thing.
Well, friend, we're wrong about that. We are right that the toes are a little thing. The topsails are a little thing, but guess what? when it comes to God's economy, a dead heart. Is but a little thing.
Aren't you glad that's the God that we serve? We need to pray and believe God. And what's our first prayer tonight? Pray one for another. Will you say it with me again?
Pray one for another. But in our same text, there's another prayer. Look in verse 19. Of Ephesians chapter number six. Verse 19, Ephesians chapter number six.
Paul, the writer, of course, and he's saying, after you get done praying one for another, look what he says. A and For me. And For me. that utterance may be given unto me. that I may open my mouth boldly.
to make known the mystery. of the gospel. Our number one prayer tonight from scripture. is to pray one for another. Prayer number two, do you see it tonight?
Who is this prayer for? We're to pray. for the preacher. Where to pray for the man of God. You see, some people got this misconception.
that our preacher is a superman. Our preacher is bulletproof. Our preacher is unstoppable. But friends, that's not true at all. Here is a man.
that wrote over half the New Testament. His name, the Apostle Paul. And you know what he desired? from God's people. He desired prayer.
From the people of God. He said, when you pray for one another, Don't forget me. Don't forget to pray for your preacher. Why should we pray for the preacher? It says in verse 19 that utterance.
may be given unto me. That word utterance means this. Divine words. Coming. from human lips.
When your pastor gets in this pulpit. It's a human man. It's a human voice. It's human lips. But the words are divine.
The words are from heaven. And Paul recognized and realized. that he'll never be effective and he'll never get the message out. Unless he's got a touch from above, God's given this church a great pastor. I can't think of anybody any greater for this church than your pastor, Daniel Haltree.
Can somebody say amen? But I'm gonna tell you something about you, Pastor. He's got tear ducks just like you, he's got a heart that can break just like yours. He's not only got all the burdens, And the problems of this church on him, but he has his own personal burdens and his own personal problems. He's carrying a load that you can't even imagine.
And that's why we need to pray for the preacher. Can y'all say that with me? Pray for the preacher. One more time. Pray for the preacher.
Here in chapter number four, one page backwards. If you would look in what the Bible says in verse number 11, Ephesians chapter number 4. We have the five-fold work of the ministry found in verse 11 and in verse number 12. I want you to see if you can find Daniel Halltree in verses 11 and in verse number 12. Notice what it says.
And he gave some. Apostles.
Well, that's not him. He's not an apostle. The Bible says, and some Prophets.
Well, that's not him either. He's not a prophet. and some evangelist. That's not him. He has done the work of an evangelist.
And still does some work of evangelists, but that's not his title. But then notice, and some pastors. I believe we hit the bullseye. Daniel Hawtrey comes under the pastor category. That means a bishop.
It means a shepherd of the sheep. He is a watchman, and he's watching for you, and he's watching for your family. He's laboring to keep your homes together. He's laboring to help you raise your children. He's laboring to keep your families out of sin and darkness.
How many of you believe tonight that's a big responsibility, and it's big laid upon a human man, and that's why we should pray for the preacher. Notice verse number 12: the Bible says, for the perfecting of the saints. For the work? of the ministry For the edifying of the body of Christ. Look at his responsibility.
His responsibility begins in verse 12 with the perfecting of the saints. Don't let the word perfecting confuse you. The word perfecting there means the maturing, bringing along the people of God. How would you like to have the responsibility of all these people in this room to bring them to maturity? To bring them to perfection.
That's what his responsibility is. Look in verse 12. The Bible said, for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry. There's a lot of things going on at Kirwan. As a visitor, I listen to all the things you have going on.
But you know who the motivating factor, the motivating factor for all your work of the ministry? It's found in your pastor. And that's why it's so important to pray for the pastor. He's not only trying to mature us, but he's trying to get us involved in the work of the ministry.
Someone say amen. And then it says, for the edifying of the body of Christ. You know what that word edifying means? It means the lifting up. How many times have you walked into Kerwin?
Walk through those doors. And you were so defeated. And you were so down and out.
Well, God gave you a pastor. A pastor to edify you, a pastor to lift you up. How many times have you came to church with the white flag of surrender in your pocket thinking this will be my last trip? I can't make it any longer. But somehow, some way, when that man of God hits that pulpit, you get edified, you get lifted up, you get supercharged.
You might have come in here drooping and moping, but leave like the energizer bunny. Say amen.
Well, that's what God can do through a good pastor, a pastor that's anointed, and a pastor that is prayed for by the people of God. You know, I'm convinced. that we got the wrong view of the pastor. Yes, he's a man. Yes, he has a unique, a specific...
And holy Calling from God. But ladies and gentlemen, he still. Just a man. A man like you. And a man like me.
Do you remember what the Bible said about the great prophet Elijah? A man who could pray. and it wasn't rained for three and a half years. A man who could pray again. and the heavens would give rain.
A man who could pray fire. down from heaven. But you know what the Bible says about that great, great prophet Elijah? James said he was a man. Subject to like passions as we are.
Ladies and gentlemen, that means he was a man. Just like you. Just like me. He was made of the same stuff. That we're made out of.
Say amen.
But I gotta move. I'm taking too long there. But I wanna move back now to Matthew chapter 9. As we're getting back to Matthew chapter 9, Prayer number one. Pray one for another.
Prayer number two. Pray for the preacher. But number three, back in Matthew 9, And in verse number 36, But when he saw the multitudes, now this is referring to the Lord. He was moved. with compassion.
on them. It doesn't say criticism. It doesn't say animosity. It doesn't say hatred. It doesn't say vengeance.
But when the Lord saw the multitudes, those lost in sin. He was moved with compassion on them. Why? They were fainted. The Bible said, because they fainted.
and were scattered abroad. as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous. But the laborers are few. Jesus, now this is what Jesus said.
Pray ye therefore. the Lord of the harvest. that he will send forth laborers. into his harvest.
Prayer number three tonight. Pray for laborers. Could you say that with me? Pray for laborers. for laborers.
One more time. Pray for laborers. Isn't it sad? This is a sad statistic, but it's so true. It has been said.
That 90% of the work of the church is done. By 10%. of the people. I don't care how many you have on Sunday morning. Thank you for listening today.
