You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Brief show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to everybody tuned in all over North America. I hope you've had a tremendous Friday.

I'm going to get you much closer to Saturday and let's get the weekend started off the right way. This show gets started every weekday, 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. How can you listen?

Well, however you're listening now is one of the ways. You can tune in on the free Odyssey app. You can lock in on your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate. If you got Sirius XM, it's channel 375. And if you've got a smart speaker, you ask that speaker, you talk to that machine. You say, hey, play the Infinity Sports Network.

And we've discussed a lot. Alexander Ovechkin, this man scored another goal tonight for the Washington Capitals. He is now one goal away from tying Wayne Gretzky for the most goals all time in NHL history. He is two goals away from saying Wayne Gretzky, you are number two to me. We'll give you an update on that game in a second. Just took a bunch of your phone calls. We took a look at some of the other records and sports, most specifically records that may never be broken. I don't care what sport.

I don't care what league. I took a lot of your calls and you can call me too. The phone number here is 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN.

Find me online everywhere at JR Sport Brief. Don't pick up your phone and drive. We want you to be healthy. We want you to be safe. And we've got more to get into. At the end of the show, we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history. Talked about John Morant being fine. We got into final four game tomorrow. The final four games, I should say. Thank you so much to Deshaun Tate for joining us down in San Antonio, Texas. Covers all things college basketball for Tate Takes Hoops. So we have more to do, more to discuss. And I didn't forget I told you about Lamar Jackson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Whoever thought that these guys would even be mentioned in the same sentence. But here we are. Here's a phone number you want to call me 888-710-4ISN.

That's 888-710-4ISN. So right now this minute, this second as it stands, the Blackhawks lead the Capitals in DC 3-2. Alexander Ovechkin scored the first goal for the Washington Capitals. And as I mentioned, he's now one goal away from tying Wayne Gretzky for the most all time. Wayne Gretzky 894 goals. Alexander Ovechkin 893.

See that's simple math. And so we'll see what happens. They're down one goal. They're getting ready to start the third period here.

The Blackhawks lead the Capitals 3-2. It would be amazing if Ovechkin just got the job done tonight. One more goal will tie Gretzky who is in attendance and another goal, presumably to win, would ultimately give him a hat trick on the night.

Hey, I'm here for the excitement. Wayne Gretzky is in attendance. Nobody cares about Gary Bettman. He's also there with Wayne Gretzky to carry his bags and his water. And so we'll keep you up to date should Alexander Ovechkin tie Wayne Gretzky tonight for the most goals all time. We have some more callers here with some more thoughts as we take a look at some of the greatest records that will possibly maybe never be broken in the world of sports. I told you about Cal Ripken Jr. playing what like 16 consecutive years.

I don't see anybody doing that in Major League Baseball. Somebody's gonna need a blow a day off every now and then. So let's get more of your calls in.

You know, time flies when you're having fun. Of course, at the end of the show, we'll talk about a few things that happened this day in sports history. And yes, I will tell you why Lamar Jackson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. are in the same sentence. And if you've been asking me, I got Duke winning on Monday night against the Florida Gators.

I hope the games tomorrow are good. Hey, let's go to Mark. Mark is calling from Nova Scotia. You're on the chair. Our sport re-show. What's up, Mark?

Oh, hey, Jared. Thanks for taking my call. So first, I agree with you on Cal Ripken. And weirdly, coincidentally, I was actually at the old Memorial Stadium in Baltimore. And terrible ballpark, by the way. I'm hoping it's a parking lot now.

I'm assuming it is. I lived there for a bit because I'm a military brat. I was there when Cal Ripken, it was one of my first, or maybe my first baseball game, where he went into third place. It's like 89.

And I do distinctly remember, you know, all the older folks being like just politely golf clapping and being like, well, he's never going to catch Lou. So that's sort of a disclaimer. But I do agree. But the reason I'm a hockey fan is because of Wayne Gretzky. I mean, I'm in Canada. I probably would have been anyway.

I'm obviously dating myself. And I never thought that that record would be broken either. But to answer your actual question, torpedo bats or not, nobody is going to hit safely in 56 consecutive games in this era with sabermetrics and video.

Nobody is going to ever beat Joe DiMaggio's record. That's what I'm saying. 56?

What was the most reason? I have to look that up. Yeah, it was like 40. I don't even know. Yeah, it was like he was at, did he even hit 40?

Maybe. Did he get there? I forgot his name. Well, it's not Castillo. All he does is make contact. Oh, what's that guy's name? Oh, my God. And I even know he is like, I can't even it's like a pet. But it's suspended anyway. But what I will say, what? But I mean, what?

What? Also, no one's ever hit in 400. No one's ever hit in 400 either. George Brett. John Olerud, I think, was still a 363 and like 93.

And George Brett came real close in like, what, 1980? Nobody's hitting 400. Yeah, nobody's nobody's doing that.

It's all baseball. Well, slow down, Mark. I know you're excited. Yeah. Yeah, I'm going to slow down. Yeah. Thank you. Thanks. You've been having a beer or two like a three?

So something like that. But I mean, I'm not Rick for I'm not Rick for Toronto, but everything I say can be backed up by fact. All right.

Hold on a second. So Jimmy Rollins back in 2005, 2006. Jimmy Rollins.

Yeah. He had 38 consecutive games with a hit. That was in 05-06. And then Louis.

And this is also this like, oh, Mark, I'm going to put you on hold, Mark. Also, Luis Castillo is who I talked about. He had a 35 consecutive hits and I was in 2002. Damn. Wow. Tom flies.

And Tom really does. Hey, Mark, thank you for calling from Nova Scotia, man. Appreciate you. Thanks, man.

I appreciate it all the time. I'm not going to say I have I have an ear for beer. OK, I know when you've had one or two or three. I'm just like, OK. How many think he's had so far as two or three? He's good. He's fine.

He's fine. He's just he's just feeling it right now. Well, you got you got an ear for beer too, Nick.

What's going on? I got a taste for beer on about a year for beer. What beer you like?

What do you like? I'm a Stella guy. A Stella. A Stella Atwa. Yes.

Stella Atwa. OK. And I keep it simple. Coronas. It's kind of light, right? A kind of light, light beer. Yeah.

Yeah. I'm not a big fan of IPA beers on occasion, but I usually keep it light. OK, nothing wrong with summertime. You want you want to be refreshed. Yeah, I can dig it.

I understand. I'm IPA guy. I need a double IPA. I need a triple IPA. I need a quadruple IPA. I need a quintuple. I whatever it is, I need it strong.

OK. It's strong. Eight, eight, eight, seven, ten for ISN.

That's eight, eight, eight, seven, ten for ISN. We got here. And we got Howie. He is from Alabama.

The JR Sportbreeze. Show us up, Howie. How's it going, JR? Man, thanks for taking my call. I really appreciate it.

Of course. What's up? Um, record, I think they'll never be broken. I know we might already mentioned Nolan Ryan strikeouts, but it's but it's no hitters, man. Seven no hitters.

The last one he threw is 44 years old. Come on. I don't think nobody's gonna touch that.

Yeah, that ain't happening. I think who's playing? Verlander has three. And I think he's just well, I don't know. I mean, his wife is Kate Upton. Why is he still playing baseball?

Right. What is he doing? Just trying to get to 300 wins and try. I don't know what he's doing.

He's just bored out here, I guess. But you got a good you got a good point. Nolan Ryan is gonna own that record for a long time. Howie. Thank you, man. Thank you.

No doubt about it. Shout out to Howie for calling up my next door neighbor in Alabama. Patrick is calling from Michigan on the JR Sportbreeze show. What's up, Patrick? How's it going there, JR? It's going very well. What's on your mind?

Yeah, great show as always. Yeah, I love the topic. I've always wanted you to do a top six on this, you know. Oh, wow. Why didn't you never call and suggest it? Well, I think I had. Because I would have had to I would have had to give you a couple of mine and, you know, ruin everything, you know.

But I think well, I think I did a top six records that not to be broken maybe a couple years ago. So I have done it. Yeah, we lost you up here in the Flint area on the radio. So I got you on at us, you know. Oh, great. Well, yell at somebody, Patrick. Go find somebody to yell at and I'll back you up on it, OK?

Oh, I will. Now, as far as the records, you know, I would have never thought anybody would have broke any of these records 10 years ago. I mean, I'm mind blown by this, but I'll tell you one that nobody's going to break. What is the all time record for interceptions in the end of Paul Kraus? Oh, my God. Wow. You know, what do you want in 81 interceptions?

I would have never thought about that. And nobody has come close. The closest two that have come in the modern era is Rod Woodson and Charles Woodson.

And they got less than half of that, right? No, Rod Woodson was actually 10 away. He had 71. And Charles, I believe he was like 68 or something. Well, but the game has changed so much from what you can do as a defensive back to where these guys line up and what they do. You got a good point to have.

And then 80, 81, 81. Yeah. Ain't nobody doing that. You're right about that. I think he's a boy, too.

Paul Kraus was a flip boy. He's from Flint, Michigan. Oh, yeah. Thanks for taking my call, Jer. Absolutely.

Thank you, Patrick, for calling from Michigan. He dropping that knowledge. That may actually be right. And think about that one. Paul Kraus interception record. I mean, you think about the ups and the downs that these defensive backs just that they go through right now and the safeties roll even on the football field. Forget the cornerbacks, but just if you're a great quarterback, they ain't throwing the ball to you so you can throw it out the window. And the safeties, they play a lot of them at the line of scrimmage now.

So it's a different game. 888 710 for ISN. I think this might be the last call that we get in. We got Todd from Maryland. You're on the chair, our sport brief show. Hey, hey, JR, you got it right, bro.

Cal Ripken, Jr. And the beautiful thing about it was I was down there for when Cal tied the record, not when he broke it, but when he tied it. And it'll never be broken, bro. Somebody is going to I mean, guy's going to have a broken hand or broken rib.

He's going to pull an oblique. I mean, how many years was that? 15, 16, 17 years?

About 16 years, 16 years, I think. But I tell you what, JR, he is the nicest guy. Have you ever met him?

He's the nicest guy in the world. You know what? This sounds this sounds bad, Todd. What's that there? I don't know. I don't I don't know. There's a good I'm trying to remember. I think there's a good chance that I have met him.

I'm not sure. OK, OK. I just sometimes I'm in rooms and I oh, hey, I just I don't. Oh, I hear you.

Yeah, I'm with you, bro. Well, thank you. Take care. You too. So I just called from Maryland. No problem. That's bad that I don't remember.

That's bad. I remember one of my great stories. I I was I didn't ring the bell for the New York Stock Exchange, but I was there with Rawlings one year and I was up there on the podium when Ozzie Ozzie. Yeah, Ozzie Smith.

He he rung the bell for the New York Stock Exchange. I was right there. I was like, this is pretty cool. All right. There's no other way in hell that they would even allow me into that place.

Pretty awesome experience. But Cal, I'm trying to remember if I've ever met. I don't know. I barely know what I did this morning. I don't know what I ate for breakfast.

I don't think I did. Hey, Nick, you remember? Did you eat breakfast? Oh, yeah, I had breakfast. I needed this morning because I went out last night, so I had to recover. So I got some what's Mickey D's Sausage Egg McMuffin.

You went out last. So you you did the Jerry Jones for breakfast? Pretty much. Yeah. Man, you was having the coronas and what else do you like?

The Stella Atwa? Yeah, but I kept it to Crohn's last night. I was playing some pool with a couple of my friends.

OK, that's not bad. Was there a baseball game on in the back? No, it was actually we went to the Odyssey leading ladies event. They had Gwen Stefani performed and wait a minute and Alessia Carr.

Those are the two headliners. And then we went to the bar afterwards. So we had and I did.

I did read that email. We had an Odyssey event that you went to, and then you so you had fun with work people and then you had more fun after. Yeah, I actually saw one of our big bosses architect. Oh, Oliveira.

Yeah. Oh, shout outs to him. Did you did you buy him a beer? Did he buy you a beer?

Neither. I should have offered it. No, no, don't offer to buy him a beer. He definitely should have offered me. You tell him, hey, hey, boss man, I need a beer. And he gets you a beer.

Done. Well, first of all, he probably didn't know who I was. I introduced myself.

He was like, how long you been here? Oh, crap. Okay.

Well, that's why you tell him to buy you a beer. Come on now. Come on.

Simple. This is a was this a private event for Odyssey employees is open to the public. It was open to the public.

But Odyssey employees got, you know, complimentary tickets. Oh, that's great. You said Gwen Stefani? Yeah, Gwen Stefani and Alessia Carr are the two big performers.

I don't know. I've heard of Alessia Carr. She could walk by me right now. I wouldn't know who she is.

I wouldn't know either. But she has a couple good songs. And Gwen Stefani is from No Doubt, right? That's right. Yep. Yep. Did she do If I Was a Rich Girl? Was that her?

Yeah, that's right. They each did four songs and she had two new ones, which, you know, nobody cares about. And then she did a couple of couple old ones. One was, you know, I don't know if you know the song, I'm Just a Girl. And the other one was obviously, you know, Hollaback Girl. Ain't no Hollaback Girl. That was Gwen Stefani. Now, that was a great song. Yep.

Yep. And Don't Speak is another good song. But that's No Doubt. I don't know what that is. If I heard it, I guess. I mix up Gwen Stefani and the other lady from the Black Eyed Peas.

I mix them up. You know what I'm talking about? What's that lady's name? Oh, yeah, I know who you're talking about.

But I don't know. Fergie Fergalicious. Fergalicious. Yeah, I know her from that one song Fergalicious.

That's a cool song, too, from I guess now 25 years. She's really disappeared. You don't hear much from her anymore.

Fergie? I guess you make enough money. You ain't gonna be out here forever, right? Yeah, I don't blame him. Yeah, I can't blame him. Well, that's good. I'm glad you had some fun. I'm glad you had an Egg McMuffin. Me? I had a glass of water for breakfast before I went to the gym. Nothing.

Just light stuff. I need to do better. It's the JR Sportbree Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to take a break. When we come back, I'm going to give you an update whether or not Alexander Ovechkin scored again. And then, of course, we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history.

And speaking of Baltimore, I didn't forget. I need to tell you what the heck is going on with Lamar Jackson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Yeah, what the heck they got to do with each other? I'll tell you. It's the JR Sportbree Show, the Infinity Sports Network.

It is the JR Sportbree Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Wow. OK. Odyssey had an event and our producer here, Nick Theodoro, attended. Nick, you said that's one Stefani? Yep.

Well, no doubt. Did she did she play this last night? No, she did not play this. She did, you know, all about girl and I'm just a girl.

But you said that was going is a big one. Stefani fan. And he was hoping that she was going to play this song. You isn't this a remake? Did she not remake this from somebody else? That I'm not sure. Wow. All right. OK. All right. When Stefani, you said she did four songs and left? Yeah, it was two new songs and two old songs.

OK. All right. So she was up there for what, 20 minutes max? A good half hour because there was another country artist. I forget her name. I don't think it might have been Laney Wilson.

Not too familiar with her. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. I didn't hear anything you said at the end. No, I said they were going back and forth. No, no, no, no, no, no. Repeat it.

Don't wait. We'll do a song. The other one would do another their song. Oh my goodness. And they were talking between Nick.

You know, it was a nice little event and very intimate. So Nick, Nick, I didn't I didn't I didn't want you to repeat it. I didn't.

I was just trying to understand something out the get go. You said Laney Wilson? Yeah. I know that. I think I know that lady.

Is that the lady with the cowboy hat? Yeah, yeah, yeah. OK. All right. Yep. I know all I need to know. All I need to know. I know all I need to I know exactly who that is. Then she gets she got married recently. Huh?

Beats me. I've heard the name, but I'm not too familiar with her. Oh, I know that. No, I know that lady. Oh my goodness. Yeah.

Nice lady. Was she there by herself? Yeah. And there were a couple other performers.

I don't know their names either. Disappointing. Yeah, I know her. Yeah, man. Good. Anyway, moving on before I get in trouble. Speaking of trouble, here we go.

Great, great, great transition. You know, I've told you throughout the course of the show that Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Lamar Jackson had a little bit of a beef. Now, what the heck do these two guys got in common?

One man is playing quarterback winning MVPs. The other guy, retired race car driver, one of the most popular of all time. What's they haven't gotten the number eight?

It's really that simple. And so Lamar Jackson basically tried to put a stop and filed a claim with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to stop Dale Earnhardt Jr. from using a version of the number eight on merchandising because Lamar Jackson is just like, hey, when it comes to the sports world and the use of the number eight, that's me, not you. Lamar Jackson had a similar issue with somebody else who wore the number eight.

Troy Aikman. What a world. And so apparently Dale Earnhardt Jr. said, man, I'm not getting into this crap.

It's a waste of my damn time. Dale Earnhardt Jr. never, never in my life that this is world that we live in. Dale Earnhardt Jr. went on social media and he actually had to put up a post through the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office. We successfully successfully secured the rights to the stylized eight. Therefore, we will be moving away from the original. Motorsports eight we have used since twenty nineteen.

We're looking forward to the remainder of an already successful season. These guys are beefing over the number eight. Listen, you protect what you can protect and what you could sell. Who am I to tell somebody what they can and can't do?

I mean, but numbers. To be honest. The marketplace, I love it when the lawyers get involved. I don't know. Lamar Jackson is selling merchandise and maybe he's waiting to sell it down the line when he's retired.

I don't know what he's doing. Does anybody own any like and we kind of talked about this last night a couple of days ago with Hickey, I'm like, I don't even know what number a lot of these athletes are wearing. Sure, Aaron Judge wears ninety nine. Oh, Tony, I think Hickey told me where 17. LeBron wears twenty three. Jokic was 15.

And I remember a lot of this because we just had the conversation. I'm not thinking about nobody's number. I don't think we have an athlete in professional sports right now in the United States of America, where you have kids and families running around saying, I got to buy that guy stuff. I think we're past that.

People have so many options. You know, I think we went past that. I mean, maybe the peak. Probably was what, Michael Jordan with twenty three. I think outside of that, and we can we can start thinking about basketball in Michigan and people wearing black socks, but nobody got no patent on black socks.

Come on now. I don't think there's anything that anybody is selling that is so important. I mean, you think about the Jordan brand, period. Forget Michael Jordan's twenty three. The Jordan brand is like the the tippity iceberg. Come on, Shaq sells shoes where he is dunking the basketball that's the logo, two hands on the rim, two legs in the air. That's Shaq's logo. I don't think Michael Jordan ever woke up and said, you know what I got to do? We as the Jordan brand, we got to put a stop to Shaq selling shoes because he's also dunking a basketball like Jordan brand don't care. I don't know.

Lamar Jackson, tell me what you're selling first and then I'll let you know whether or not you actually got a case. So much so that Dale O'Brien, who is the CEO of the Jordan brand, that Dale Earnhardt Jr. just had to go, you know what? We're changing our number eight. It's going to look different.

It looks the same to me. And lawyers always got to justify the work that they do. Yeah, they got to charge you a lot of money and act like they did something. Shout out to all the lawyers out there making money. Send me some 888-710-4ISN.

That's 888-710-4ISN. Of course, we're going to share with you a few things that took place this day in sports history. I can't wait for basketball to actually get started tomorrow with the Final Four.

And so we got so much to do. But before we do that, you know, it's time to check in with Alexander Ovechkin and see what the heck he got going on. I don't know. Did he get to Wayne Gretzky yet? Did he pass him? Is he done with goals for tonight?

It is the J.R. Sportbreeze show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. You just heard it from Pete McCarthy a few minutes ago. Alexander Ovechkin said, listen, people, I'm getting this the hell on over with, OK? Alexander Ovechkin has tied Wayne Gretzky for the most goals all time.

Wayne Gretzky has company, 894 goals. The Washington Capitals, a little bit of a comeback here. There's only about two minutes left to go in the game. The Capitals come back from being down. Right now, they lead the Blackhawks four goals to three. There's less than two minutes to go here now in the game. Alexander Ovechkin scoring that Gretzky tying goal, tying Gretzky for the most of all time with about six minutes to go in the third period. He scored his first goal with about three minutes to go, four minutes to go in the first. So Alexander Ovechkin scoring two goals tonight to tie Wayne Gretzky for the most goals all time in NHL history.

That number is 894. Now, barring another goal here for a hat trick, as maybe as Pete mentioned, the Blackhawks vacate the net to try to score and tie this game up. And I mean, the Blackhawks, they suck this year.

Just go home and lick your wounds. The rest of the games or the next game, I should say, for the Washington Capitals won't be until Sunday. And so Wayne Gretzky is going to continue to follow around Alexander Ovechkin until he goes out here and breaks the record. The Capitals got plenty of games to continue on the rest of this season. On Sunday, they'll be on Long Island taking on the Islanders.

It's certainly a chance and an opportunity. That's an early game to 1230 Eastern time. Carolina next Thursday, next Saturday and Sunday, two games against the Columbus Blue Jackets, one more game on Long Island, another game in Pittsburgh. So this man, Alexander Ovechkin, tying Wayne Gretzky, the most goals of all time. Wayne Gretzky became the all time leading goal scorer in 1994 when he passed Gordie Howe. It took 31 years, 31 years for the record to be broken. We took a lot of calls about records that we thought would never be broken in sports. This isn't one that I thought would be broken, but Alexander Ovechkin, he's done it.

Kind of crazy. Ovechkin, 41 goals this year in his 20th NHL season. He had to miss some time early, I believe with the shoulder issue. And so, man, damn it, if he didn't have to miss some time, is he that or a broken leg?

He had an issue and he would have got to this record a little bit faster if he didn't have to miss some time. Alexander Ovechkin, I ain't gonna call this guy the great one. I know we had a caller who said, well, you never get to Gretzky in assists.

I'm like, yeah, you're right about that. I'm not taking nothing away from Wayne Gretzky. Alexander Ovechkin is about to be the all-time goal scorer. That's it. As simple as that. LeBron James is past Kareem. It's not taking nothing away from Kareem, right? Come on now.

Sometimes you gotta give people credit where credit is due. As simple as that. 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN. It is the end of the show. You can't sit around here forever. Eventually, you're going to turn my microphone off and tell me to shut the hell up. And you know what the end of the show means? The end of the show means it's time for a few things that took place this day in sports history.

It is the J.R. Sportbree show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Today is April 4th. This will go down in sports history. Either the day that Alexander Ovechkin passed Wayne Gretzky or maybe it stops where it is right now, where he has tied him. We'll give you an update momentarily. April 4th, 1974.

How about this? Hank Aaron. He tied Babe Ruth for the most home runs all time with 714. This was opening day in Cincinnati. Hank Aaron did it on a three run shot. Let's go ahead and take a listen to this courtesy of Major League Baseball. It's crazy how things come full circle, right? Records are made to be broken.

Most of them, some of them. Unfortunately, Cincinnati beat Atlanta that day is seven to six. Hank Aaron hammering Hank. He broke the record only days later, April 8th, he passed Babe Ruth.

April 4th. Let's keep it moving in 1983. This is one of the biggest shockers in basketball history, especially for the NCAA tournament. This is North Carolina State knocking off Houston 54 to 52.

It don't matter about Akeem and Clyde and none of these folks. Lorenzo Charles had that tip and dunk to win the game. And the image that I will always remember, Jim Valvano, God rest his soul running all over the court, running all over the place, just in celebration.

Take a listen to this. On the dunk. Man, that's one of the biggest scenes in sports that I will just it's ingrained in my brain. God bless. God rest the soul of Jim Valvano.

April 4th, 1988. This is a big deal as well in the tournament. A lot of news. Kansas went out there and won the NCAA title over Oklahoma, 83 to 79. Danny Manning went to work.

He had 31 points. Kind of crazy. Larry Brown has kind of coached everywhere. Larry Brown and Kansas. They won.

Listen. Man, Tom, that was in 1988. Damn, Tom flies. April 4th. We got some more basketball.

1994. Thank you so much, Arkansas, for beating Duke 76 to 72. Duke doesn't need no more championships.

They didn't need any more titles. This was Arkansas's first title ever. Thank you, Arkansas. Great defense, Arkansas.

They take it away. They won the first ever national championship. Man, that's great. Man, thank you.

Shout outs to CBS and all the amazing coverage and audio that we got. Let's keep it moving. April 4th, 2001. This ain't basketball. This is, uh, this is baseball. Hideo Nomo. This man threw a no hitter with the Dodgers, but on this day, 2001 and his very first game, imagine a debut like this, his very first game with the Boston Red Sox. Hideo Nomo went out there and threw a no hitter. He beat the Orioles three to nothing. It was his first game. He struck out 11.

And yeah, this man was like, Hey, I'm hot. I got a, I got a no hitter with the Dodgers in the national league. I got a no hitter in the American league with the Red Sox. Hideo Nomo, a big deal. Listen to this courtesy of MLB.

Hideo Nomo with the no no. All right, whatever. I mean, whatever the heck we want to call it. Great, great announcement. Thank you, Major League Baseball. Thank you, Red Sox.

Hey, April 4th, 2016. You want to talk about things that took place that are absolutely amazing? I was, I was actually in Houston for this. I was, I was in, I was in an RG stadium.

Villanova knocked off North Carolina 77 to 74. Chris Jenkins hit that three at the buzzer. I was behind the stage and Charles Barkley, everybody inside the stadium absolutely lost their minds. I remember this game. I mainly remember being there because Michael Jordan walked by the tunnel past me. I think that might've been the only time I've been that close to Michael Jordan.

Anyway, you don't care about my stories. Let's actually listen right now to the final call. This is the shot that won it courtesy of CBS.

Man. Shout out to Villanova. Yeah, there you go. There were a few things that took place this day in sports history. And one thing that you can now add to that list that I'm sure we'll be talking about into the future on April 4th, 2025, Alexander Ovechkin scores two goals to Tywayne Gretzky for the most in NHL history, 894. Alexander Ovechkin had a goal tonight in the first period. He had another goal in the third period. Washington Capitals came back from being down three, two.

They ended up winning the game five to two. Alexander Ovechkin, when he tied Wayne Gretzky, he saw him up in the stands and he blew him a kiss. Good for him.

Capitals end up on top five to three. Alexander Ovechkin, it's now just a matter of of when, when does he pass Wayne Gretzky for the most goals all time? As I mentioned, he'll have another chance, another opportunity this upcoming Sunday on Long Island in 1230 p.m. Eastern start. If you want to see some history made as the Capitals will go out and try to defeat the Islanders and Alexander Ovechkin will try to pass Wayne Gretzky for the most goals all time. And at 40 years old, it's like LeBron a little bit. He's not just breaking the record.

It's not going to stop on Sunday or Thursday in Carolina or on Long Island. He's going to keep adding to the record. It's going to be interesting to see how many more goals Alexander Ovechkin just rolls and runs with in his career. He's now passed him. He, well, he's tied him. You can expect for him to exceed him.

It's just a matter of where he stops, stops. A big shout outs. We've seen some amazing legends over the past couple of years. Amazing stories on longevity. It makes you think, hey, in another 20 or 30 years in another generation, what else will we see? You know, we've seen the greatness of Tom Brady late in his career. We see it now with Alexander Ovechkin.

We see it with LeBron James. These aging marvels who still win and compete at a high level. It's really hard to even go, who's going to do this in 20 years, in 25 years, in 30 years. We don't even know who these guys are yet.

Probably still running around in middle school somewhere, maybe elementary school. This is a cool thing about sports, man. You always get to see how things develop.
