It is the JR Sport Brief show on the Infinity Sports Network coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to everybody tuned in all over North America. I'll be hanging out with you for the next two hours.
This show gets started every weekday at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. Wherever you are, I wish you well. I hope you're good. I hope you're amazing.
I'm in Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to our super producer and host, Ryan Hickey, in New York City. And we've had a busy show. We've had an informative show. We talked about quite a few things. Travis Kelce's future.
He says he doesn't know if he's going to continue playing or not. Kevin Durant, last night, he becomes the eighth man in NBA history to surpass 80, excuse me, 30,000 points. 80,000 points. Damn.
That's a lot of points. Nobody's getting that. Not yet, at least. Hey, we talked about nobody wanting Aaron Rodgers, at least Deshaun Elliott of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Well, he wants Aaron Rodgers to just go to a retirement home. Saquon Barkley, not retiring. Jalen Hurts, not retiring. Enjoying the fruits of victory.
Hanging out on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Good for him. And then we talked about some other champions who just happen to be jerks. Dan Hurley, head coach of the Yukon Huskies. Matt Patricia, coaching college.
He's going to be the defensive coordinator for Ohio State. Just two jerks. Dan Hurley, really, really a jerk. And he's a jerk on a big time contract too. Man, they upped this man's deal, winning these championships, a six year contract, $50 million. Dan Hurley's getting all this bread until 2030.
That's why he feels so comfortable talking all of this trash. You know what? And speaking of contracts, it is Wednesday. Every single Wednesday, I bring to you a new top six list. And today, well, we're going to talk about the worst contracts in sports today. Like right now, this very moment, you can span every league high and go far and low. You can look under the bed.
You can look wherever you want. We're going to talk about the worst contracts. Players who are not earning their bread. They're not earning their keep. And people just don't understand why they're making all of this damn money. And this list is inspired by an individual who for the life of me, oh my God, this guy doesn't even, he doesn't even appear to like baseball. I'm sure if he could just keep his money and retire tomorrow, he would. It's Anthony Rendon.
Here's the beautiful thing. Even though it's almost the middle of February, pitchers and catchers have started to report in Major League Baseball. Well, we know Anthony Rendon, he is not a pitcher. He's not a catcher. And typically he would be a third baseman.
He's not even healthy enough to do that because now the man is still recovering from hip surgery. We have no idea when we're going to see Anthony Rendon. Well, we haven't seen him at all. But Ken Rosenthal was on foul territory.
And he says, you know what? This man's career as an Anaheim Angel of Los Angeles, still a stupid name. He says his career is probably over. The Angels built their team not expecting Anthony Rendon to play a major role. He's been hurt for quite some time now. Of course, he signed that huge contract.
It just has never panned out for them. So they signed Yaw Mankata recently. And my expectation is he's going to play third base. Their expectation was that he's going to play third base. No one who saw that news today who has any knowledge of the Angels and Rendon could have really been surprised.
It's just one more unfortunate turn. And what likely will be, I would imagine the end of his Angels career. He's not coming back from this.
It doesn't sound like this year anyway. Angels career. Man, who's going to give this man a job? Is he going to go to the minor leagues and try to punch his way up?
And well, we'll get into what his contract actually looks like. If you've missed a minute of the show, you can hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. Thank you to people listening live on their local Infinity Sports Network radio affiliate. If you got Sirius XM, it's channel 375.
If you're on a smart speaker, ask it to play the Infinity Sports Network. You know what? Let's not waste any more time. It's time for the top six list of the worst contracts in sports today. 6 5 4 3 2 1 It's time to get JR's latest top six list only on the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Brief show on the Infinity Sports Network. A new top six list.
Thank you Anthony Rendon for the inspiration as we take a look at some of the worst contracts in sports today. It is a top six list. It is a countdown. And so we start at this number right here. Number six. Oh man.
Anthony Rendon, a major league baseball player was the inspiration, but we're going to kick the list off with someone else in major league baseball. This guy is pathetic and he's a complainer. There's nothing worse than one of those. And he stinks. His name? Tiger fans know exactly who he is.
My apologies to everybody in Michigan and Detroit. His name is Javier Baez. Oh man. He used to, he used to be good with the Cubs.
Used to be? Hickey. Hickey, you remember him with the Mets. Aren't you glad he's not there?
Very much so. Javier Baez is 32 years old. He has not met a curve ball in his entire career, even at 32. He just can't help but swing.
He hasn't met a curve ball that he does not like. Almost every single year of his career, this man has had more strikeouts than he's had hits. I mean, just last year, his batting average was 184.
And I get it. Who cares about batting average in baseball? His batting average was 184. He had six home runs and 37 RBIs in 80 games. And in those 80 games, he had 69 strikeouts to 50 hits. This man, since joining the Tigers in 2021, they gave him a six-year contract, $140 million. He is batting 221 as a Tiger. This man had hip skills. He had hip surgery last September.
We have no idea whether or not he's going to be ready. I don't think it matters too much because all he's going to do is stand at the plate and swing and miss. And then he had the nerve last year when he actually played and decided to hit one of his six home runs. He stood in front of his locker and WXYZ-TV spoke to him. Javier Baez says he doesn't like when the Tiger fans, when they boo him.
Listen to this. Coming back in the eighth inning on Sunday, the Tigers trailed 3-0. Javier Baez kicking off the bottom half of it, hitting a solo shot. As he rounded first, Baez cupped his ear to his helmet.
The home run was his first since last September. After the game, Baez admitted he hears the boos from Tigers fans, and he doesn't like that. I've been booed pretty much my whole career, and I know it's frustrating for the fans, but I think that doesn't really help the team and the organization. It doesn't affect me, to be honest, and I don't think it's really respectful when people talk trash and they respect you behind a net that they can say anything. It doesn't affect me, to be honest, and I'm just worried about playing good, you know, and doing good for my team and my organization.
So they can do whatever. It doesn't affect you. Why are you complaining about it? It doesn't affect you. Well, you still suck.
Like, let's be honest. You still suck. And the fact that you're saying it doesn't affect you, man, it affects you.
That's why you're talking about it. Man, you're making $140 million. Just be garbage and be happy with it. Ignore other fans. Don't complain about them.
They're paying their hard-earned money to watch you play like ass. Javier Baez, one of the worst contracts in sports today. Six years, $140 million for a guy who is batting 221. He's number six. What's next?
Number five. One of the worst contracts in sports today. You don't have to look outside of the desert. I'm talking about Phoenix. I'm looking at the Suns. I'm talking about Bradley Beal. Now you can thank the Washington Wizards for being absolute idiots, and then you could thank the Phoenix Suns for deciding to take on this contract. Bradley Beal, this season for the Suns, after years of injuries and wrist injuries and just the man can't play.
He's not the same dude. 17 points a game, three rebounds, three assists. And back in 2022, the Wizards said, we suck as a team. Bradley Beal is always hurt, but he's a name brand. They gave him a five-year contract, $251 million, and they gave him a no trade clause.
What? When they gave him this contract, Bradley Beal was playing 57, 60, 40, 50, and he played 53 games last year. This man was always hurt, and they still gave him the contract, and they found a dumb sucker enough to take it on. And now the Phoenix Suns can't even move Bradley Beal. They're trying to move him during the trade deadline, and then they were like, oh, we can't move this guy. They tried to bench him to make him unhappy, and he's like, man, I'm making 250.
I'm living in the desert in the winter time. I'm good. I mean, it's pretty hilarious. His trainer was on CBS, and he was just like, man, they didn't ask Bradley to leave.
Oh, OK, sure. The Suns never had a conversation with Brad, and that was the most frustrating part was there were all these rumors that were circulating, all these trades that were being thrown out there, and everyone was talking about Brad as if he was going to leave. Brad as if he was holding these trump cards that weren't being played all because of him, but the truth is they never approached him about a trade. They never said, hey, here are some scenarios. And so Brad being a loyal guy, the reason why he stayed in Washington for so long, the reason why even though the Suns are not in a great position right now, he's still trying to fight and claw to get them back in the playoff race. He was like, listen, they never approached me. If they would have came to me and approached me and presented options and said, this is what we think is best for the team and this is what we think is best for you. He said, I would have obviously considered something, but there was never a conversation.
So, you know, a lot of the fans that were angry at Brad, they got to understand that it wasn't on him. He was never a part of those discussions if there were the discussions happening behind the scenes. OK, all right. He was I'm sure.
Come on now. He heard it through the grapevine. This man said that he didn't want to go anywhere. It's one of the worst contracts in sports, and he has a no trade clause. You want to know who else in the NBA has a no trade clause?
LeBron, they said him and LeBron, nobody else. I don't know how Bradley Beal got this great agent. One of the worst contracts in sports. Bradley Beal is number five. What's next?
Number four. One of the worst contracts in sports today. We have to go from the desert to the mountains.
Yeah, we're going to Colorado. Yeah, we're going to talk about a baseball player because, yeah, Bradley Beal has been a multiple time All-Star. He's good or was good. This man actually won a World Series. This man actually was a National League MVP. This man was a rookie of the year. And then he got traded to San Francisco. And then in a lockout shortened year, he said, I'm just going to take some money and I'm going to sign with the Rockies. And why not? Some of the best hitters over the past 25 and 30 years have played up in Colorado.
Yeah, let me take advantage of that thin air. But for Chris Bryant, it's been a disaster. I don't know. Maybe the higher elevation is doing damage to his body. This man has had to deal with a busted up back. Not fun. Terrible. A baseball player with bad feet. Awful. Terrible. His hands have been busted up. Awful. Terrible. He had a rib injury that was due to his bad back. Oh, my God. Four baseball players swinging and swinging and swinging.
Nothing worse than a bad back. Chris Bryant signed a seven year one hundred and eighty two million dollar contract. In twenty twenty two. Last year, with all these injuries, he only played in thirty seven games. He batted to eighteen and had two home runs. Yeah, this is a far cry from an MVP from a rookie of the year from a World Series champion. Chris Bryant, his body looks cooked. His manager, Bud Black, I mean, he spoke over the winter meetings and he said, you know who we need? We need Chris Bryant and his body to be healthy.
We need to be still in our very capable of that. He'll be the first guy. He'll be the first guy. Yeah, he'll be the first guy to tell you that he needs to get better.
Well, damn it. He's having a rough winter. He had a rough season. Things just they continue to be rough for Chris Bryant.
How about a couple of days ago, ABC seven in Chicago? If it's not bad for him on the dime and it's just bad for him and his regular life to listen to this. Colorado Rockies third baseman and former Chicago Cub Chris Bryant recently became part of an investigation that led to several people being arrested in a car theft ring. Bryant hired a company to move his Lamborghini to his offseason home in the city of Chicago. Someone picked up that car in Colorado but never dropped it off in Vegas. Investigators say hackers were able to reroute the car to a different location. Police able to track down the car, arrested the driver, along with several other people.
They're accused of operating a multi-state vehicle theft ring. Man, this guy got a bad back. He got a bad, he got bad feet, got bad hands, bad ribs, and now they stealing his cars.
At least he can afford a Lamborghini. Chris Bryant, one of the worst contracts in sports, seven years, $182 million to rehab. He's number four on the list. What's next?
Number three. It's Joel Embiid. Like, I can't even tease it. Like, it's Joel Embiid, the guy who won his way to an MVP. Oh, it's me. And then last year he's, he doesn't play. Oh, nobody appreciates me. Joel Embiid is stealing the gold medal. Oh, LeBron James called me fat at practice. And now, remember before the season started, Joel Embiid is just like, oh, you know, poor me.
I bust my ass. Nobody loves me. He said he's not going to play ball.
He's like, yes, nobody loves me. He said he's not going to play back to backs. But in September, they gave this man a three-year contract extension that ends in 2029. He's making, they signed like a $200 million contract.
2029? He's basically on a five-year $300 million contract. Joel Embiid has played a grand total of 17 games this year. And he can't even stay on the court. He just said he might need another knee surgery.
This is a disaster. I give him credit. He's a great criminal, a great crook. I mean, and then before the season at the beginning, he was complaining to the media that, oh no, nobody should complain about me because I bust my ass all the time. And I, you know, see people saying he doesn't want to play. I've done way too much, you know, for the city and, you know, putting myself at risk, you know, for people to be saying that. So I do think he's like that, you know, Marcus, whatever his name is, I've done way too much for this city to be treated like this.
So don't wait, wait, but like I said, I wish I was as lucky as other ones, but that doesn't mean that I'm not trying that, you know, I'm not, you know, doing whatever it takes to be out there, which I'm going to be here pretty soon. This guy, he's never healthy. The sixes are disaster. He sucks. Paul George now sucks. The Joel Embiid has one of the worst contracts in sports, period.
What's the next number? Number two, top six worst contracts in sports today. I got Joel Embiid at number three. Who do I have at number two?
The man who inspired this list, Anthony Rendon. Yeah, baseball season. Everybody's in Florida. They're in Arizona. They're getting ready for spring training. Not Anthony Rendon.
I don't know. Maybe he's going to be sitting at home in between rehab sessions, watching the bold and the beautiful. General Hospital. I have no idea what Anthony Rendon is going to do. It appears that he's not all that passionate about baseball, despite the fact that after winning a World Series with the Washington Nationals, that this man got paid from the Angels seven years, two hundred and forty five million dollars. Apparently, baseball isn't a priority for him. He's had to deal with a multitude of injuries, oblique issues, hamstrings. I mean, he's just had hip surgery. We don't know when he's coming back. And the season hasn't even started yet. Last year in 57 games, he hit 218 with zero home runs and 14 RBI. Let me tell you again, they gave him a seven year contract.
Two hundred and forty five million dollars. His deal isn't over until the end of next season. Broken legs, obliques, hamstrings, hip injuries, just at all. And this is really the cherry on top. He let everybody know how he really feels about playing baseball.
When last year and trying to be healthy, he says, you know what, man? I just do this for work. That's never been a top priority for me. This is a job.
So I do this to make a living. My faith, my family come first before this job. So if those things come before it, I'm leaving. Is it a priority?
Oh, it's a priority for sure. This is my job. I'm here. All right. Do you want to be here? I don't want to talk to you guys at seven in the morning or whatever time it is.
So I mean, do you want to do you want to be here playing baseball? I have answered your question. So why do you keep picking at it? Oh, yeah, you technically answered it. Thank you. No, my goodness.
You don't like it that much. I mean, a lot of people got jobs, right? You don't necessarily like your job, but you just show up and do it. Anthony Rendon is making two hundred and forty five million dollars playing a kid's game. He just shows up to work to cash the checks or maybe the rehab room. Yeah, because he ain't playing on the field yet. He has one of the worst contracts in sports today. Anthony Rendon, number two on the list. It's the J.R. Sportbrief show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network.
We're talking about the worst contracts in sports today. It's a top six list. We come back on the other side.
I'm going to share with you number one. It's the J.R. Sportbrief show. Infinity Sports Network.
Don't move. You are listening to the J.R. Sportbrief. It is the J.R. Sportbrief show on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm sharing with you a new top six list because that's what we do every single Wednesday.
And today and thank you so much to Anthony Rendon for the inspiration. We're talking about the worst contracts in sports. I'm about to share with you who I have at number one on the list. Let me give you a quick recap.
If you weren't here before the break, you can always hit rewind on the free Odyssey app and you can get a full understanding and explanation. And number six, I gave you Javier Baez currently playing for the Tigers or barely playing. Six years, one hundred and forty million dollars. This man had hip surgery in September.
He hasn't met a curveball that he doesn't want to swing and miss at. And number five on the list, worst contracts in sports today, Bradley Beal. The Washington Wizards are dumb for giving him a five year deal. Two hundred and fifty one million dollars and then saying here's a no trade clause. He was traded to the Phoenix Suns who were dumb enough to take the contract and now they can't even get rid of him.
At number four, worst contracts in sports today, Chris Bryant. Oh, he's a far, far, far off. Well, he's far, far off from what he was doing with the Chicago Cubs. Rookie of the year, was he? MVP, was he? Did he win a World Series? Did he? He looks like a shell of himself.
Every part of this man's body is hurting in Colorado. The Rockies gave him a seven year contract, one hundred and eighty two million dollars. Last year, a whopping two home runs in thirty seven games. MVP what? And number three, I gave you Joel Embiid. Yeah, he basically got a five year contract, three hundred million dollars that will not expire until twenty twenty nine. Thinking about Joel Embiid's body in four years from now, he might be a mummy and he might need another knee surgery. Oh yeah.
And that's right. He's seven feet plus tall. And like, I don't even. Hickey, how much you think Joel Embiid weighs? For real, how much you think he weighs? Two eighty.
Oh, you're being generous, bro. You think he's over three bills easily? He is easily over three hundred pounds.
This is tall. Three twelve. Oh my God. Yeah, a little less than that.
Maybe at around there. Yeah. Let's put it this way. What? Where are they making jokes about Luke away in two seventy? Yes.
Yes, they were. Luca is six foot seven. Throw in Joel Embiid. I know they say he's seven feet. I think he's I think he's a little taller than that. That's a giant dude. And fat. And three hundred million dollars over the next. Impossible.
Anyway. Hey, Anthony Rendon, he's number two on the list. Worst contracts in sports today. He's out with hip surgery. Man didn't play last year. Oh, he did. Sorry. He played fifty seven games.
Be forgiven if you missed him. He hit zero home runs in fifty seven games. Zero. World Series winning year in Washington. The guy hit thirty four home runs, drove in one hundred and twenty six RBIs, had a three nineteen average last year to eighteen average zero home runs. Fourteen RBIs.
Fourteen RBIs sound like accidents. He's number two on the list. How much is he getting?
Oh, yeah. Seven years. Two hundred forty five million dollars. And so if you have to take a look at the worst contract in sports today that leaves us with this number one, I will not belabor the point.
I will not make any jokes. But the worst contract in sports today belongs to Deshaun Watson. And we know why. We know about the legal issues and the massages and the torn achilles twice, the suspensions, the injury.
We know all about it. He doesn't have it anymore. His career might be done.
If this guy ever has any type of decent season, he will get come back player of the year. The dumb ass Cleveland Browns decided to give him two hundred and twenty six decided to give him two hundred and thirty million dollars guaranteed. They were so desperate that they brought on a man with twenty plus allegations of sexual assault and then they guaranteed him two hundred and thirty million dollars. I pray to God and I'm not a sports team, I'm an individual.
I pray to God that I'm never that desperate in life to make a ridiculous decision. The other owners hated the Haslam's for guaranteeing two hundred and thirty million dollars. Well, I don't know if this is karma for the organization and for Deshaun Watson, but it's a disaster. They're now going to be selecting at number two in the draft. And Deshaun Watson, we know his time in Cleveland is done. What his NFL career looks like, we have no idea, but he could disappear off the face of the earth.
Two hundred and thirty million dollars. I won't forget before he even played a down for the Cleveland Browns. You know, he was telling everybody before before he even played the preseason. He's just like, listen, folks, I just want to grow as a person. I know I have a lot of work to put in, especially on the field, to be able to make sure I'm ready to play whenever that time comes, whenever I can step back on the field. But also the biggest thing is I want to continue counseling and I want to make sure that I'm growing as a person, as an individual for my decision making on and off the field.
And I want to make sure that, you know, I'm just evolving in the community as much as possible. And that's for the Cleveland community. That's the NFL community and beyond. OK, none of that. Hickey, did any of that happen?
I don't think so. Oh, man. And then and then when he actually had his press conference, Deshaun Watson, he wanted to tell everybody who he really is deep inside. As a person, I'm genuine, I'm hardworking servant leader who loves to be social in the community, who loves to give back, very kind of team oriented. So I love hanging out with my teammates. But also I want to be able to show that eventually and get out into the community. I've always been hands on in the community of Houston, back home in Gainesville, back home in Clemson.
And that's what I want to do is be able to get back to that brand or get back to that person that people knew I was before, before all these allegations. Hickey, did we see any of that? No, we did not. Man. Worst contract in sports today, right now and maybe of all time, Deshaun Watson's deal might be the worst ever handed out in sports history.
And of course, it would belong to the Browns. The phone lines are open right now. 855-212-4227.
That's 855-212-4227. I just gave you a top six list of the worst contracts in sports today. Oh, there's there's work. Well, I'm not gonna say there's worse.
There's a whole lot of other bad ones. There are other contracts that I consider. There's a guy on the New York Yankees. If he runs too hard, he might pop his leg. He had a great World Series, but he might pop his leg. There's some other contracts that are absolutely terrible. There's a fat guy on a pelican somewhere. I mean, there's a lot of bad contracts in the world of sports.
I'm going to take your calls on the other side. Javier Baez, six. Bradley Beal, five. Chris Bryant, four. Joel Embiid, three.
Anthony Rendon, two. Deshaun Watson. I have him as the worst contract in sports today. 855-212-4227. I'm going to get to your calls on the other side of the break.
If I miss somebody, if you have an idea, go ahead and share it. I'm going to ask super producer and host Ryan Hickey, you know, what he thinks is the worst contract in sports as well. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Brief show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. I need you to think O'Reilly Auto Parts for all of your car care needs.
Get guaranteed low prices and excellent customer service from the professional parts people at O'Reilly Auto Parts. It's Wednesday. Right before we went to break, I gave you a new top six list. We took a look at some of the worst contracts in sports today. And number six, I gave you Javier Baez. And number five, I gave you Bradley Beal. And number four, I gave you Chris Bryant. And number three, I gave you Joel Embiid. And number two, I gave you Anthony Rendon. And the number one, I gave you the $230 million guaranteed.
That's owed to Deshaun Watson, who we might never see play again, almost most certainly for the Cleveland Browns. The phone lines open if you want to give me a holler. 855-212-4227. If you missed the full explanation, if you missed the sound bites, if you missed the players, if you missed the contract numbers, you missed all of that, hit rewind on the Odyssey app. You can listen to the whole show if you want.
You can listen to yesterday's show if you want. But let's go ahead and hit the phone lines up. Let's go to Baltimore, Maryland and talk to Evan. Evan, you're on the JR Sportbreeze show. What's up? What's going on, JR?
I love the show, man. Thank you. What's on your mind?
Well, first of all, I got an honorable mention to your list real quick before I get to my main point. Chris Davis is still making more money than any current Oriole player and will be until the year 2037 at a total of fifty six million dollars. Hasn't hit a home run since 2016 or whatever it might be. But either way, my main point to add... Well, slow down, Evan, take a breath.
Sorry, been working all day. It's OK. Yeah, one of the great deferred contracts of Chris Davis. Well, thank you, Evan. What else do you have to say? Thank you. To add to your third worst contract of all time, being that I'm from Baltimore, it's still heavy on my heart. What do you think is the worst sign of voter fatigue between Jokic losing that MVP to Embiid or Josh Allen beating out Lamar Jackson when the stats clearly show the other person should have won it? And I'll leave you with that. Have a good night, buddy.
Thank you, Evan, for calling from Baltimore. I mean, there's similar situations. I don't want to say one goes over the other. There was certainly Jokic got the living hell beat out of him. The MVP race that we saw this year between Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen, I'd say that that was much closer and there wasn't much that you could really dispute from what took place. I think Jokic was was more of a more of an extreme example of them not giving him the award because they just didn't want to.
He got high there. I mean, it was these stupid campaigns from guys like Kendrick Perkins and other people who are just, you know, making up asinine reasons and making it racial and a European guy and an African guy. It just it was ridiculous. I think anybody who's seen Nicole Jokic play over the past few seasons and yes, every year individual award one over the other. We can't realistically look at Joel Embiid and look at Jokic in the same place. One is a robber and one is one of the most efficient, ridiculous, freakish players that we've ever seen.
I've been fortunate to see Jokic play the past two or three times that he's come here to Atlanta. And I'm watching the guy and I'm just this is not fair. Like he is literally the guy at the YMCA busting everybody's ass. Doesn't look like he's supposed to bust your ass, but he's doing it. And he's making it look way, way too easy. Joel Embiid can't even run up and down the court. They may have to cut this guy's knee open again. So if you're asking me which one was more egregious, you know, Josh Allen beating out Lamar this year or two seasons ago Embiid winning over Jokic.
Two years ago was I think Jokic had more of a fuss to make than Lamar. 855-212-4227. That's 855-212-4227. T is here from Tennessee. You're on the JR Sportbreeze show. What's up T? What's up, man? How you doing? I'm amazing. How you feeling? I'm good.
I'm good. I just want to tell you, man, when I first started listening to you, I didn't get it. I didn't like your style.
It was because it was new to me. You know, it was different. But you had me rolling tonight on this Deshaun Watson tape. You're right. That man ain't did nothing.
You said he could go away tomorrow. Oh my God. You said, I ain't going to say I ain't going to crank no jokes, but then you proceed to bust his ass. I appreciate it, man.
Thank you, T, for calling from Tennessee. Yeah, man. There's no... Hickey, did I make a joke about Deshaun? I just told the facts. No jokes today. I think the joke is the truth.
Oh yeah. And the reality of the situation, which is every way you look at it, it is not good. It's piss poor.
That's what it is. Bad. Yeah, he is the joke. I didn't have to make any... I didn't make no massage joke.
I didn't make none. Thank you, T, for calling from Tennessee. 855-212-4227.
That's 855-212-4227. Allen is here from Wisconsin. You're on the JR Sportbreeze show. What's up, Allen? Hey, what's going on, man?
I just caught the tail end of your list and then I heard you repeated right before calling in. I was telling your producer, you must've just skipped over the low-hanging fruit of that Prescott's contract because one, he's injury prone ever since he came, ever since he took over for Tony Romo. But I think he got paid 60 million this year and somehow you sign a guy up to 60 million one year and you let it balloon up to 90 million the next year or something like that. Or maybe it's a $90 million, whatever it is. Yeah, he's making 60 per and I don't believe that starts until this year.
Nonetheless, he is going to be the highest paid quarterback in the NFL for now at 60 million. Yes. For the least amount of work in terms of when you look at the guys that are, you know, you consider to be elite. I mean, I think he's made it into the second round of the playoffs with maybe twice. Well, yeah, yeah.
Those were off of, you know, off of having to buy the first time, you know, for the first week. So he has a, he has a playoff record of three and five, but let me ask, let me ask you this as bad as the contract is, we know he's not the best quarterback in the game. He was someone who was an MVP finalist last year. Is this contract one of the six worst in all the sports flattened period?
In my, in my eyes, yeah. Because when he got, when he signed the contract, you made him the highest paid player in the league, which we all, anybody with eyeballs would know he doesn't deserve to be the highest paid player in the league. I mean, a lot of the guys who are highest paid when they sign don't deserve to be when they sign, but him definitely not. I mean, he's not a couple of seasons ago, they gave him 40 a year and that was right behind Patrick Mahomes. And then everybody jumped him. I mean, I understand what you're saying, Alan, he's making 60 he's entry-prone. We saw the guy break his leg, his ankle. We saw him now rip up his hip.
I understand. I think all things considered, I wouldn't be shocked if he went out there next season and, and played another 15 or 16 games, threw for 3,500 yards. Somehow, some way found 30 touchdowns and the Cowboys were better than what they were last year. And so having considered that a lot of the guys that I mentioned here on this list, as crazy as it sounds, I think they've been in worst condition than, than what DAC has been. Is it a smart contract what the Cowboys have done?
Absolutely not. I think that has more to do with the Dallas Cowboys being complete idiots than, than anything having to do with DAC. I mean, I, I mean, I guess if you say, but I guarantee after this contract, he'll probably sign an even higher contract. Let's see how senile Jerry Jones is as, as he continues on. He might not make it through the season with his new coach. They might kill him.
Oh boy. Well, let's, let's hope that he's alive, Alan. Let's, let's pray for that one. Okay. I'm not including Jerry Jones in my prayers at all, but I hope he stays alive. Not wishing death on anybody.
8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. Steven is here from Tennessee. You're on the Gerald sport re-show. What's up, Steven? How's it going tonight?
How are you? Just fine. So I didn't get to hear all your parameters for the contract thing. I had to, uh, here's some parameters, Steve.
Who has asked, who has a bad contract this year, today, right now, this minute, this second, that's the parameter. Okay. Well, I'm going to give you my four. I got three. We don't got, well, we don't got time for four. Steve, give me one.
We're up against the break. Give me the name. Now I'm going to give you Kawhi Leonard then because.
Okay. We got, we got Kawhi Leonard. Well, we know Kawhi Leonard can't stay healthy to save his damn life. Former MVP Clippers gave him a bad deal. And well, look, I guess if you're Steve Ballmer, just throw money away at anything, right?
There's a bunch of rich people throwing away money. Hey, thank you, Steve, for calling from Tennessee. You got, you got us right here on the break, Steve.
It's the JR sport re-show on the infinity sports network. I'm going to get some more of your calls on the other side of the break. 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. That's 8 5 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. We're talking about the worst contracts in sports today. There's nothing worse than Deshaun Watson's deal. It's the JR sport re-show the infinity sports network.
