It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. Thank you to everybody for tuning in all across North America. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia.

Thank you to super producer and host Ryan Hickey for holding it down in New York City. I hope you're safe. I hope you're well. I hope you are absolutely amazing. We've been hanging out since 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. That's when the show gets started every weekday.

I'll be hanging out for one more hour. Where have you been? If you haven't been here, you've missed a lot. We talked about the new head coach of the New Orleans Saints, Kellen Moore, former offensive coordinator for the world champion Philadelphia Eagles. He got himself a new job.

That's what happens when you're successful. We talked about the potential new job of Aaron Rodgers. Could he end up with the Steelers? And then Sam Darnold. Apparently, the Raiders would love to bring on Sam Darnold if the Vikings don't keep him. We talked about the debut of Luka Doncic last night for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Dallas Mavericks are ejecting fans for voicing their displeasure. Brock Purdy. Apparently, the 49ers are going to aim to make him happy. Jed York says we're going to pay this man. Good for him. Hopefully, they can protect him in getting some weapons that will stay healthy. The Eagles look like they have the best odds to win the Super Bowl next year. We had a chat with Ed Kratz from Sports Illustrated.

He says, yeah, of course, they can come back and repeat. Kevin Durant. Well, speaking of people not happy, he's not happy with the idea that the Phoenix Suns locker room is toxic. Kevin Durant is not happy with the idea of losing.

And there's just there's just so much. We talked about Cam Newton being selfish. The Steve Smith, his former wide receiver, is not a fan of Cam Newton right now. Cam Newton said that the locker room that he showed up with with the Carolina Panthers was just full, full of losers.

I mean, how many I can't even think about. A star player, any player, how many people that have played professional sports at the highest level have really taken a dump on their teammates like this? I mean, individual players can hate each other's guts, but to come through with such a broad stroke and a big brush and just say, hey, them guys were losers before I got there. Oh, my God.

They didn't know how to win a bunch of losers. Cam Newton has proven himself to be rather selfish over the past few weeks. I'd rather my MVP than in a Super Bowl.

Oh, damn, brah. Steve Smith isn't here for the Steve Smith is never somebody to hold his tongue. If Steve Smith sat down with that guy, that is a podcast that I pay attention to.

I don't know if Cam Newton would want to do it, though. Steve Smith would spit the truth at this guy. Got a lot more to do here with the show as we continue on in about 20 minutes, we're going to have a conversation with Kevin Gray from DLLS Sports. I'm going to ask him about the Dallas Mavericks ejecting fans last night who made it very clear that they want the general manager, Nico Harrison, to get the boot.

And of course, I'll share with you a few things that took place this day in sports history. If you've missed a minute of the show, go ahead and hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. Thank you to people listening live on their local Infinity Sports Network radio affiliates. If you got Sirius XM, it's channel 375. If you got a smart speaker, ask the speaker to play the Infinity Sports Network. This next story I'm about to share with you is making me feel that I'm in a time warp.

Let me look. Yep, it's still February 11th. The year is 2025. There is a video that has gone viral on the internet a couple hours ago since we started the show of John Rocker. You might recall John Rocker. This man was a relief pitcher famously for the Atlanta Braves.

Man has been an all star. But in a more famous way, he's remembered for being a bigot. This man delivered an interview while getting ready to take on the New York Mets about how disgusting the seven train was in New York City. And the words that he used to describe the individuals on the train were just filled with hate. I personally find John Rocker to be one of the most disgusting human beings that I can remember in the world of sports in my lifetime, especially given his public words.

I'm sure there are others, but I find him to be quite despicable. Now, why is John Rocker trending in the year 2025? Because apparently, like many millions, thousands, thousands, millions, millions, John Rocker was apparently in New Orleans for the Super Bowl.

Whether or not he went to the game, was there before the game, we have no idea. We don't know the details. But there's a video going viral of John Rocker and Patrick Mahomes Sr. Yes, Patrick Mahomes' dad and John Rocker got into a verbal altercation on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. We don't know the details. Is this before or after the Super Bowl?

Let's just say they almost came to blows. And this video, which has been posted online, it's all over X. You can go ahead and Google it or search it.

I'm sure it will absolutely pop up. It's captioned. Pat Mahomes' dad and John Rocker getting into it on Bourbon Street. Patrick Mahomes Sr., pitcher in Major League Baseball, famously one of the teams he pitched for happened to be the New York Mets. And so I don't know if this is a beef from the late 90s that they're carrying into today, but John Rocker, who I haven't heard from in I don't even know how long, 25 years, which is a good thing. John Rocker is apparently on X.

And he also looks like he hasn't missed a day in the gym. John Rocker is on Twitter being very interesting. He said, he said he couldn't take a joke with words that I can't say. This bleeping loser, Patrick Mahomes Sr., can't take a damn joke. John Rocker says, I wish I laid him out right there and ruined his crap weekend even more.

Well, that's nice. Patrick Mahomes Sr., Patrick Mahomes' dad responds and says, you really haven't changed one bit in the last 25 years. Keep my name out of your loud mouth. John Rocker's response? Bleep, Patrick Mahomes.

Wow. Hickey, am I am I in a time warp? Is this 2025? Patrick Mahomes Sr. then said John Rocker is a menace to society. Am I in a time warp? Am I missing something?

I am just as lost as you. And the video starts with basically Rocker charging right at Patrick Mahomes Sr. I don't know if you just saw him and maybe like just flashback to 1995 and said, oh, my God, unfinished business. Oh, they saw each other beforehand earlier in the week, earlier in the year.

I have no idea. This is they were both pitchers. I mean, I don't know, maybe maybe he faced him in a relief situation. They needed a bat.

They didn't have like they were two pitchers like what they beefing over. It's John Rocker obviously said that he told him a joke that Patrick Mahomes Sr. did not appreciate. And now we got two old guys getting ready to fight on Bourbon Street. And if you think about Patrick Mahomes Sr., he has been arrested multiple times for DUIs. In 2018, pled guilty to a DUI, served 40 days in jail.

August of 2024, Mahomes pled guilty to a third DUI charge, was sentenced to five years of probation. Why are you on Bourbon Street? Like that is like one of the worst places in America to be. If you over here catching DWIs, like what are you doing? I'm not I'm not going to take a bank robber and go, hey, man, do you mind coming in the bank? I'm not going to take a bank robber to the bank. Why is Mahomes on Bourbon Street?

And I don't know the conditions of his probation. I'm sure he could go travel and watch his son play football and root for Mahomes. Bourbon Street is exactly what took place here. People get drunk.

Apparently and not apparently he did. I'm going to assume there was alcohol in that glass or cup that John Rocker had as John Rocker and Patrick Mahomes Sr. were being separated. John Rocker tossed a drink towards the feet of Patrick Mahomes Sr. I'm going to assume that there was alcohol in that cup. Mahomes didn't have a glass.

I don't know. It looked like he may have had a little something to smoke in his hand. But this is just Hickey. This is this is why you don't go on Bourbon Street. Like if you don't like you can't go on Bourbon Street and be mad if you can't be sober.

Walking down Bourbon Street and get mad if somebody bumps into you. Like you can't. Like this is what you expect.

Like this is this is something that can happen. I just and then Patrick Mahomes Jr. the guy who just lost the Super Bowl. He doesn't do anything. People can't stand his wife. They can't stand his brother. His dad is out here getting in trouble. Like Mahomes like and then his wife just had a baby.

I don't know. I feel for Patrick Mahomes. He don't do nothing to nobody. His whole family is just always in the news.

It is crazy. And like he clearly was able to calm his brother down and keep him out of trouble out of the news. Same thing with his wife.

You haven't heard it from either of them in what almost two years now. And it's like his dad is just the one guy right now. Again, not that he may be totally innocent.

All we know is that we see a 30 second video in which John Rocker charges at him, says a lot of things. Like you said, throw a drink at his feet. Like he could be innocent. But it is just one of the things where you're getting in trouble a lot. There's always a lot of attention on you.

Maybe being on Bourbon Street as someone who has had trouble with the law before, maybe not the best place to be, maybe just stay in the hotel room. I'm with Patrick Mahomes lives a quiet life, does not start any drama or trouble for himself, both legally or just even on the field. And everything, every headache he has to deal with is from some different family member. That's tough. That's so tough.

Yeah, it is. I feel for Patrick Mahomes in that regard. And watching this video, apparently it looks like Mahomes is outside minding his business. He's approached by John Rocker, who apparently said something. He says he told him a joke that Mahomes didn't like. Mahomes now sees him. Rocker puts his hand out. Mahomes either pulls it away or slaps at it, then points at Rocker. Rocker's like, what are you talking about? Give me a break. They're now being separated. John Rocker. Yeah, it's just old guys, man.

Oh, what a world. Hickey, he's going to at least Mahomes can disappear for a few months. Is this going to go away or are we going to hear about this for the next forever?

This one should go away again. It seems like Patrick Mahomes senior is innocent here, right? He was not the provoker. He was, I guess, for lack of a better term, the victim in this situation. I mean, I don't know what we could find out to where he also looks bad, but I guess outside of that, assuming this is just another story that gets swallowed up in the 24 hour news cycle that we have, this time next week, everyone will forget about it.

Like you said, it can disappear really until OTAs, I guess, like May, June, hide out. Get a little privacy, get away and unwind. He needs it. He's the one who needs a drink.

Now it's been reported that Dave Portnoy, who owns Barstool Sports, said John Rocker and Patrick Mahomes are expected to fight in a future boxing event. I just don't know. I don't know, bro. If you're Pat Mahomes, junior, you got to start being like your dad, man. I don't, I don't want to say, you know, I don't want him to be like, is it Baker Mayfield? He's suing his dad, right? He is. Like you never want to tell somebody to disown their father.

Who wants that? But there comes a point in time where you just got to go, Hey dad, I love you, man, but you got to get your act together. Like this ain't, if I'm Patrick Mahomes again, I may have to have a drink after this. Like, what are you doing? We got all the money in the world.

You don't need money. And maybe, maybe he doesn't have access because I don't know. His dad is just, he's been problematic. And to say the least, Patrick, and that's why I say he doesn't come he doesn't come across as unlikable to me. Like you think about all the circumstances and everybody around him, just acting like a jackass that Patrick Mahomes, junior, he just, he just shows up and plays football and shuts all the noise out. He seems likable to me, his family, not so much.

John Rocker in my homes. Okay. Whatever. It's the JR sport re-show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network. We're going to take a break. When we come back, speaking of not being likable, we're going to have a chat with Kevin Gray of DLLS sports.

No, it's not that he's unlikable. He covers the Dallas Mavericks. And if you didn't hear last night, the Mavericks were given fans the boot for chanting to fire their GM, Nico Harrison. I'm going to talk to Kevin about the, the fans and how they feel about these masks, how they feel about the GM and what their future looks like.

Although we know is looking pretty bleak. We'll have that chat with Kevin on the other side. Of course, we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history. You're locked in it's the JR sport re-show the infinity sports network. You're listening to the JR sport brief. It is the JR sport re-show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network.

Now we've talked about a lot of unlikable figures throughout the course of the show. Aaron Rogers, Cam Newton, and I think in the Metroplex and down in Dallas and Fort Worth and Arlington, there's somebody else who's entered into that space for Mavs fans. His name is Nico Harrison. It's the entire ownership group, the new ownership group of the Dallas Mavericks. And to talk about the disaster going on in Dallas last night, fans getting ejected from the game, voicing their displeasure is someone who covers the Dallas Mavericks from DLLS Sports. It's Kevin Gray. Kevin, how are you, man?

JR, I appreciate you having me on, man. How are you? I'm okay. Well, look, how are you? How are Mavericks fans?

I think I know the answer, but this is one of the worst. I haven't felt this bad for fan base since really everything that's taken place in Oakland with the A's. And at least y'all still got the team.

Yeah. I mean, it's kind of a dire situation with this team to be quite honest with you, because this is a team that in mid-December was, you know, eight, nine games above 500. At one point, they have won 14 of 17 games and you felt like they were climbing their way, you know, to a potential top four spot in the Western Conference, even with Luca Doncic being in and out of the lineup.

And then, of course, he goes down with the calf injury. And the last image we have of Doncic is him hobbling off in that Christmas Day game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. And we never thought, no one thought that that would be the last time that we would ever see Luca Doncic in a Dallas Mavericks uniform. And fast forward to, you know, 11, 12 p.m. Central Standard Time on February the 1st, and we get one of the biggest bombshells in the history of the NBA where two all-NBA players were traded for each other, albeit one at 25 off of five straight first team all-NBA selections and another one at 31 years of age who has had a number of injury problems, but at the same time is arguably the best defensive center in the league, something we've never seen before in terms of a trade. So the amount of shock, the amount of disappointment, the amount of sadness, anger, everyone is vacillating between anger and sadness and frustration and confusion over the last now 10 days. It's been quite remarkable to see how this fan base has obviously responded negatively as they've had to Nico Harrison and Patrick DuBois, who are the owners and the presidential manager of the team.

Kevin Gray Jr. is here with us, the JR Sportbreeze Show, Coast to Coast, a host pre and post game for the Dallas Mavericks podcast, DLLLs. When you think about what's next, last night all over the country, we saw the fans ejected for voicing their displeasure inside of the American Airlines Center, the arena. What's next? Like the Mavs, they can't hold the fan base down forever. Are there any other ways that the fans plan on voicing their displeasure? Well, they've already had a trade protest in front of the American Airlines Center this past Saturday when the Mavericks took on the Rockets and what was Anthony Davis' debut.

There was demonstrations outside of the building that day. Obviously, fans continue to voice their displeasure when they've been inside the AAC, whether it be with signs or with paraphernalia that has the Mavericks logo on it, but they cover it up and they have been in some ways, well not in some ways, they have been escorted out of the building by security there. What's next is that this fan base continues to be emboldened.

They continue to voice their displeasure. This is not going to die down, I don't believe, anytime soon because the way that this front office has handled their public comments in the wake of this trade has been with a lack of empathy and sympathy for fans who have had their collective worlds rocked by a trade that they never saw coming. I mean, you had 21 years of Dirk Nowitzki in this city lazing into a championship and then you had a natural bridge and even a connector year that Luca and Dirk played together and then the first six and a half years that Doncic was here, it was a magical ride. Of course, them going to the NBA Finals a year ago and Mavericks fans thought that thought that this is going to be the next 10 to 12 years of this player being here and then growing together with him and then to have that ripped away from them, they are heartbroken and I don't believe that fervor or vitriol toward the front office will be ending anytime soon, especially the way that the front office has responded in the wake of this trade. Well, we heard what Niko Harrison had to say about trying to win now and be situated into the future. He was very clear that if this did not work out, he would likely be buried. I think he knows his fate and apparently he doesn't care too much about it.

Knowing that this is a disaster, I think a lot of people can admit that. Anthony Davis comes in, has a great game, automatically gets hurt. How long does Niko stick around? Like, are we talking a year or two?

Does he step down? Should we might as well like light a match to the entire organization right now? Well, it seems like they're doing a pretty good job of that themselves over the last 10 days, but you know, Harrison has a competitive window that he sees for the next three to four years and he felt like Anthony Davis would give them the best chance to win, knowing that according to Niko, of course, that defense wins championships. And no matter how fans feel about Luka Doncic, it became abundantly clear, as we've learned over the last 10 days, that Niko Harrison did not feel like Luka Doncic over the course of the next 10 or so years would be a player that would change enough from a habit standpoint, no matter how you may feel, agree or disagree with that, that would be able to lead them to a championship, despite the fact that he took this team to an NBA Finals less than a year ago. So he has made a tremendous, risky bet here in order to bet against Luka Doncic and bet on the idea that Anthony Davis can be healthy enough, long enough to help this team with a championship.

And they're going to have to try to do so very quickly because Klay Thompson, the 35 years old now, Kyrie Irving is in the 14th year of his career, and he's 32. And right now, he's dealing with a back issue. And Anthony Davis may not be back for weeks at this point with the injury that he's dealing with. So it's already looking extremely dicey for him as far as this trade is concerned.

And we haven't even been two weeks into it as of yet. So he has taken a severe risk toward not only the team and their immediate future, but their long term future and his own as an executive in this league. Yeah, we know what the long term ran for.

We know what the term ramifications might look like. I'm asking you, Kevin, are they cooked? I mean, are the Mavs that going into the toilet? Are they are they going to continue to reach some depths before they get better? Because I mean, there's a slim margin for error here with the selection or trading for Anthony Davis. He just outlined an aging Kyrie Irving who's also had his own history of injuries. Do you believe they're cooked for this season?

I think so. I mean, we haven't even mentioned the fact that they're starting center and Derek Lively is dealing with a broken ankle. Their backup center just injured himself last night. He's going to be out at least two weeks with a right knee sprain. And the acquisition of Caleb Martin, he has not been seen on the floor yet because he's dealing with a hip injury.

There are other backup center. Dwight Powell, he's got a injury. The injury that this team is dealing with and have dealt with all season long has been long and unfortunate for this team.

P.J. Washington is even dealing with an ankle injury right now. So the bodies that they have available to them and the consistency at which they can have these guys on the floor just simply hasn't been there. And most importantly, it doesn't appear that the centerpiece of the trade that they have in Anthony Davis is going to be around anytime soon either. So they've got a long ways to go to try to get themselves out of the play in if that's even the ability for them to do so.

And if they can't, this will be a lost season and one that has been dramatically lost when honestly, it didn't have to be because they could have kept hanging on to Luca Doncic, but they decided that that's not the direction that they wanted to go in. If there is any optimism to be had by Dallas Mavericks fans in the fan base, is there a silver lining that you can identify? I mean, the hope would be that once Davis comes back, that he's able to remain on the floor for the rest of the season and that he and Kyrie Irving are going to be the one to punch that can get this team at least into the playoffs. And then you take their your chances from there because a defense that's as good as the Mavericks were. If you watch the first half of that Rockets game on Saturday, Anthony Davis was an absolute monster dominant on both ends of the floor. But more importantly, that defensive energy fed to his teammates. The Mavericks set a team record with 18 blocks in that game on Saturday against Houston, and they looked ferocious on that defensive end. That is what Nico Harrison is banking on when this team is completely healthy, that that defensive presence and energy led by Anthony Davis will give teams problems that they feel like they can match up against other teams in the West in terms of their size, whether you're talking about a Minnesota or a Denver or Oklahoma City with Isaiah Hartenstein and obviously Chet Holmgren, who's now back for them. So they feel like when they are healthy, that they have the kind of bodies and lineups to be able to give teams problems. The question is, will we ever see any of that, given how difficult this season has been from an injury standpoint? And that remains the biggest question here in Dallas. Yeah, it's it ain't looking good.

Hey, Kevin, thank you. That's just what it is. It is. It is.

That is what it is. It's demoralizing. It's terrible. It's awful. It is.

It is probably the worst trade that I've ever seen in my life. We can find a silver lining. We know we know where the odds lie.

The odds are not not positive in that regard. Kevin, thank you so much for the time. Where can people follow you and all of your work covering the Mavs? Yeah, you can find me on X at Kevin Gray Sports. I host the DLLS Mavs podcast, our pre and postgame shows as well on the DLLS Sports Network for the All-City Network. And you can catch me on that show five times a week, hosting pre and postgame shows and our daily podcast for DLLS Sports. But the quickest way you can get at me is at Kevin Gray Sports on X. And thank you so much, Kevin. We know you're going to be kept busy throughout the rest of the season next couple of years.

Hopefully there's a more positive news in there somewhere, OK? I appreciate it, man. Thanks for having me. Thank you so much to Kevin Gray Jr. You just heard him host of the DLLS Mavs podcast. I just I feel for Mavs fans. I really do, because Nico Arison, the organization, a new ownership group. Hey, we got a lot of people that money that run around thinking that they know what the hell they're doing.

This ain't one of those instances. This is this is treating an institution for the city, for the fan base, like it's a video game. You don't get a chance to reset the game and get Luka Doncic back.

And it is just it's sad. As I said earlier in the show, if you happen to be, you know, Adam Silver, you love the fact that Luka Doncic is now playing for the Los Angeles Lakers. But Adam Silver is not dumb enough to not understand how ridiculous this trade was and how the Dallas Mavericks just they impaled themselves.

They did. Marco, what's that? What's that thing? The samurai, the samurai guy, he jabs himself in the chest with the sword, was that call disembowelment? Well, there's a fancy.

Come on, man. Hickey, help him out. Isn't he a fancy Japanese term for this?

I'm sure there is, but I have no idea. Lying the sword down? No. Well, Japanese guy swords himself.

Wait, listen. OK, I mean, disemboweling himself, I got to be fair, I don't know the proper term. I'm probably mispronouncing it wrong. The seppuku is the form of taking one's own life that was considered honorable among the feudal Japanese samurai class. Traditionally, the act consisted of stabbing oneself in the abdomen with a short sword to ensure a slow and agonizing death.

Oh, I had to show Hickey because you also do the the circle all the way around. Would you expect us to know that term? I don't know. I thought there was a simpler word than that.

I don't know. I never knew the term, but I'm familiar with, I don't know, the act, if you will. Honorable disembowelment? No, I've seen it before in movies, and I think I've read it in different history books.

I was a history man. Yeah, it's like, hey, I've shamed myself and my family. There's only one thing left for me to do, and for me to end it right now. Well, yeah, it could also just be you want to die with honor. You know you're going to die, so you die with honor.

You don't have to be shaming anyone. Instead of somebody else stabbing you up, you do it to yourself. Pretty much, yeah.

I'm going to get myself before you get me. Yes, with honor. So this isn't comparable to what the Dallas Mavericks are doing. Dallas, here we go.

The Dallas Mavericks are a kid that are taking a fork, and they're putting it in the electrical socket. Done. Will they learn this lesson, though? No, they just- I feel like the kid learns a lesson there. Don't do that again. No, they're going to keep doing it.

This is the start. Do you get a Luca back? I don't know. Can you do that again?

They're going to find a- Can you rescind the trade? I've learned. I can't do this again.

They're going to find a bigger fork and just keep jabbing until they're gone. Now, can I say- Yes. I don't know if anyone's brought this up. Uh-oh. Can we just say, is Nico Harrison with the crystal ball, does he look at Luca Doncic and say, I don't want Carmelo Anthony? No. I'm just curious. No, no, no, no. Guy that's going to not age well, who's going to get fat, or he's going to just be a jump shooter, he's not going to play any defense, he's not going to make his teammates better, I don't want Carmelo Anthony, I can't win with that, so let me get rid of it now.

Luca Doncic took a team to the NBA Finals. I'm aware. No.

I didn't say I agreed. I'm just saying, is that his thought process? Nah, don't try to think too hard for idiots. It'll make you dumb too. Don't do that.

That's not a good idea, Marco. This man, I honestly believe he doesn't care about the job. This is not someone who had to grunt and grind his way into being an NBA executive. This is a Nike executive who comes from the business world, and I get it, he has a background more so as a player, played in college, I don't believe he played in the NBA, and was a Nike exec. He's not some nerd from the back room who's used to wheeling and dealing and has his entire ass and reputation on the line because of this deal.

He's a little bit more of an outsider when it comes to being an NBA general manager, and so I wholeheartedly believe that that's still his approach. I can utilize my relationships to make deals, which he just did, and A, he doesn't care that much. If this doesn't work out for him, he's gonna go, oh, I'll go back to Nike. Oh, maybe Adidas will throw me some money. Oh, I can raise money and start my own company with all of these guys that I know. I don't need this NBA GM job.

And I think that's pretty much where it lies. And he said as much in his press conference, oh, they'll bury me if this doesn't work. He doesn't seem to care too much. What other GM do you hear talk like that? He knows he's not long for the job.

This might as well be a game of NBA 2K for the guy. And that's how he's treated it. And that's how he's treated the fan base. And that's how the owners. And I just think it's despicable.

I think it's awful. I don't I can't comprehend that part of me wants to respect that because you're going to do it your way. Like part of me respects that. But wow. To make this type of decision without talking to anyone.

And really, that's the only well, the backdrop. Oh, if if he had somebody else to talk to. Like Mark Cuban, this wouldn't this would never happen. I mean, just the idea that you're going to talk to other teams and see what the best deal is, if you truly wholeheartedly believe Luke is going to be a fat mess. I got to talk to everybody, not one team. Let's do this quickly in the middle of the night so that nobody finds out. It's just it's so wild to me.

I still have to digest it. Depending on what you read and what you see, you know, oh, he tried to talk to the wolves or he tried to do this with the pelicans. And at the end of the day, he brought in Anthony Davis. He might as well have you might as well have brought in Joel Embiid. OK, well, at least maybe with Joel Embiid, he stays healthy enough to be the best player on the bottom line is he sunk his ship.

Nico Harrison, he took that sword and he stabbed himself in the chest. And even worse than that, he just stabbed all the Dallas Mavericks fans in the heart like that is just I don't care what. Imagine your franchise team snatching away the franchise player who just took you to a championship. And I know Jalen Hurts just won the Super Bowl. Let's think about last year. All of a sudden they just trade him away.

You know, I don't know. Patrick Mahomes won a Super Bowl, two of them, three of them, four of them, five of them, six of them. Let's just say the Kansas City Chiefs just wake up one day and say we're going to trade him like the New England Patriots. Belichick caught heat for trying to get rid of Brady and Brady's like, I'm sick of you.

I'm leaving like certain things are unforgivable. It's one thing to look at a guy at the end of his career and go, this guy's washed up. This guy old. Let him chase glory somewhere else.

Not when a guy's 25. The Dallas Mavericks. They're in the toilet right now. I look at the Dallas Mavericks the same way I look at a team like the Browns.

And that's crazy for a team that just went to a championship because of Luka Doncic. This is it's pathetic. This is the go ahead, Mark. I was going to say no honor in that disembowelment. No, there's no, no, no, there's no honor. Dishonorable death, right? Correct. Does that make sense?

Sounds right. Dishonorable death. I'm sure there's a better term, but you're right. It's stupid as death. It's stupid as they are.

It's just ignorant. You're listening to the J.R. sport brief back in the days when I was young, I'm not a kid anymore, but some days I sit and wish I was a kid again. It's time for this day in sports history. You see, back in those days, we had radio and you couldn't see anything and it was primitive and lousy and we liked it. On the J.R. sport brief show.

I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass. February 11th, 1982. Moses Malone sets an NBA record with 21 offensive rebounds versus the Seattle Supersonics. His Houston Rockets beat the Sonics 117 to 100. Moses Malone, not only did he have those 21 offensive rebounds, he had 38 points, 32 total rebounds, three steals and two assists. Listen to the legend explain why he was such an elite offensive rebounder. One day on offensive ball, you know, I started my players and then I watched the flight of their shots and when I go to the rack, you know, I try to get the defense position for the offensive man do something to get the rebound. Players like Rudy T, Calvin Murphy, you know, Rudy T, he got some like a straight shot. Murphy got some like low osh on his shot. So I try to get position, the possibility of trying to get the rebound and once I step in position, it's just hard for the offensive man, the defensive man to move. Man, you listen to some of the greats talk about rebounding. Moses was one of the greatest of all time.

Hey, how about this? February 11th, 1990, Mike Tyson, he went into a match in Japan 37-0. He lost to Buster Douglas. He got knocked out in the Tokyo Dome. Mike Tyson has been knocked out. Unbelievable.

This makes Cinderella look like a sad story. What Buster Douglas has done here tonight. Yeah, one of the biggest upsets in sports history that was courtesy of HBO sound like, yeah, Jim Lampley was there.

How about this? This is recent history. This time last year, you thought this year's Super Bowl was late.

February 11th of 2024. The Kansas City Chiefs, well, they beat the 49ers 25 to 22 in overtime to repeat as Super Bowl champs. You remember how the game ended? In overtime, Patrick Mahomes connecting with McCole Hartman. He is the best. He is the standard.

Michael Jordan wins it again. Yeah, that was Nansen Romo on CBS. Yeah, recent history.

We got all types of history here with you. Yeah, and that concludes a few things that took place this day in sports history. Dammit, Hickey, I thought this year's Super Bowl was late. Last year's was two days later than this.

Damn. Lot of waiting. Just wait till they go to 18 games and two bye weeks. March 1st. Hell, St. Patrick's Day Super Bowl. Oh my God. Whatever's going to make the NFL money, I guess. Well, not I guess.

I know they're going to do what makes them money. Thank you to everybody for tuning into the show this afternoon, this evening. Thank you to Kevin Gray from DLLS Sports for coming to talk to us about how terrible the Mavs are. A thank you to Eric Kratz for joining us.
