It is the JR Sportbrief show here on the Infinity Sports Network. Happy Monday to you. Hope you had a tremendous Monday.
Hope you had a good weekend. I'll be here with you for the next two hours. This is a four-hour show. It gets started every weekday, 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific.
I'm in Atlanta, Georgia. Super producer and host Ryan Hickey is in New York City. Much love and many thanks to Greg holding it down on the boards as well. And thank you for listening. We've had a busy show so far as we've talked about the Buffalo Bills.
Thank you so much to Gene Battaglia for joining us from 95-7, the fan in Rochester. We talked about the Kansas City Chiefs going to the Super Bowl again, trying to three-peat. We had callers hit us up telling us why they hate the Kansas City Chiefs.
I don't understand why they ain't bother nobody. You can call me too if you want. 855-212-4227.
That's 855-212-4227. We talked about some of the head coaches who were introduced today in the NFL. Schottenheimer with the Cowboys, Glenn with the Jets, Pete Cowell with the Raiders, Jimmy Butler suspended again. We discussed that. And then, and you know what, how about this? We got to talk some more Eagles.
We have to talk some more commanders. In about 20 minutes, we're going to have a conversation with John McMullen from Sports Illustrated now to talk about these Eagles. A lot of fun. Happy for these Eagles. Good for them. Happy for Washington. Good for them.
Happy for Washington too. Anyway, you can always tune in all the time. The free Odyssey app, your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate, Sirius XM. Channel 375.

Find me online at JR Sport Brief as well. Now I got to tell you this. As much talking, and we just did this before the break, took a look at the Philadelphia Eagles, took a look at Washington and said, everybody in Washington, they got to be thrilled. They got to be happy with what they got out of this season. In Philadelphia, yeah, good for them. They have another chance to compete for a Super Bowl, two appearances in the last three years.
We saw what happened in Phoenix, Arizona, Glendale. It didn't work out for them. They got a chance to, you know, get a little get back. Washington, their future is in front of them with Jayden Daniels.
Now, this is the funny part. The Eagles representing the NFC East, the Eagles are going to the Super Bowl. Washington, they got a bright future in front of them with Jayden Daniels. And then you think about the other two teams in the NFC East.
Who would have fought? And these are supposed to be iconic, beloved franchises, stalwarts all across the country. Stalwarts all across the NFL. Who would have ever thought both the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants would just be a complete joke for different reasons? First of all, we heard this earlier today. Brian Schottenheimer introduced as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones sat in front of the media with his son and neither one of them could, I don't know, neither one of them could inspire anybody with this hire. Jerry Jones sounded like he was just out to lunch. Listen to this description as to why he hired Brian Schottenheimer.
Listen to this. We know what osmosis is and we know what shot he grew up around. Not just from that, but we knew frankly, from the standpoint of shoddy, those X hairs crossed, shoddy might never have been in our mirror or in our view, had to not join us to be with Mike as a consultant three years ago.
And then it was been a coach. The X hairs cross? Hickey, is he talking about like biology?
Is he, is he going that deep? What is he talking about? I guess, right?
Gene pool. If he, if he wasn't born, if he wasn't born a Schottenheimer from the loins of Marty, is that what he's talking about? I guess.
I mean, I don't know what else it could be. I mean, it is Jerry. And I heard him say glory hole in a different interview today. Today he said that? Yes. Yes.
There's not many joys of it's like not many joys in glory holes. I can try to see if I can find it here. I believe it's odd if you want to listen to it, but that's like when it comes to trying to transcribe Jerry.
Good luck. Excuse me. He was, he, he had the proper reference for what that was. Is it, does it, did he mean what he said? I don't know. Okay. I think cause he said it before. Oh my God. Um, I believe that he maybe has two interpretations of that.
Well, I hope, I hope he's still not visiting. Okay. Let's just put it that way. Oh, okay.
Now, um, uh, his son is no better. Like Steven Jones was there at the press conference as well. And then he stood in front of the media and he was telling everybody that there's, and he used air quotes and he's just like, there is no super bowl drought. There's drought that you speak of. Keep in mind, they haven't won a championship since 96. It's 2025. That's almost 30 years ago.
Listen to this man. Obviously we're also evaluating where it didn't go right. You know, in terms of, uh, you know, this drought that people say we're in, in terms of a championship game or a super bowl. This drought that people say that we're in, it's not that people say they say that you're in a drought because you are. I mean, when you're branded as America's team and you haven't won a championship in like 30 years, is that not a drought when you haven't been to an NFC title game?
Is that not a drought? What, what do you call that? What do you call 30? You're the most valuable sports franchise on planet earth. Yes.
You know, and you and your dad, your dad knows how to make money hand over fist, but what do you call it? I don't know. Are they all delusional? Like, are they in a bad movie down in Frisco? Like what is wrong with the Dallas Cowboys? I know Jerry Jones says Schottenheimer should be a great coach because of osmosis, but his dad was a good coach and then he was hanging out with Mike and Mike was a good coach and he's been around. So he knows good coach. That don't mean he's going to be a good coach.
They are just nutty down in Dallas. He'll be a good coach through osmosis. Okay. All right. Well, Piggy, how many children fell from the loins of Belichick? Is it one? Is it two? I think it's two, maybe three. I think he had a daughter too.
I want to say three maybe. Well, Steven is coaching that. He's his defensive coordinator, right? Right.
Yes sir. Now at UNC. So shouldn't because of osmosis, shouldn't he be the, shouldn't he be great as Belichick according to Jerry Jones? I don't know why he's not the next Cowboys head coach, right? Wouldn't you want Bill Belichick in those championships?
How about that? Since Jerry Jones is so obsessed with osmosis, they are just completely nuts out there. Hey, if I'm an Eagles fan, if I'm a commander's fan, I'm enjoying this. I'm like, look at these idiots over here. And then we got the New York giants.
Oh my God. The New York giants. What a wreck that is. At least their head coach, their GM is not going anywhere. I know a lot of fans want to get rid of Douglas. They want to get rid of Joe Shane.
And this is utterly embarrassing. Think about this, the New York giants just over the past year. I mean, they're on hard knocks, off season edition. And Joe Shane's kid is sitting there going, Hey dad, you should draft. You should trade up. Not that it was going to happen. Everybody wants to beat Joe Shane up. There's no guarantee that he was going to be able to make a trade, but everybody's saying, even your son is smarter than you. He knew to trade for Jayden Daniels.
This is, this is crazy. Listen to this from hard knocks last year. Who do you want me to take? Give me a name. Jayden Daniels. Trade up and get him. Why not?
Okay. If Jayden Daniels. You can only get this job once. Now they don't have no quarterback. Daniel Jones is gone. He's in Minnesota.
Hickey, what's that? Tommy DeVito. Is he still on the contract? They bringing him back? I hope not, but probably why not?
Fans still love him, I think. Yeah. Right.
Mom's still making cutlets. You could still, how many jerseys of Tommy DeVito do they sell? A couple thousand. Oh, geez. I mean, probably really.
You're probably right. Yeah. New Jersey sell a couple thousand. Everybody in the neighborhood got a DeVito Jersey, right?
Where he grew up. Oh man. Come on now. I can tell you what they don't have. Well, they don't have Jayden Daniels. Must've really suck watching him now look like he's going to help run that division for a long time. You got jail and hurts. And then they, they added Saquon Barkley from the New York giants. And we all know how painful this experience is for the New York giants and the same hard knocks series. The owner of the giants, John Mara, there was an entire scene where he walked into the GM's office and told Joe Shane, it would really suck if Saquon left. I would not be able to sleep at night.
Listen to this. I'm going to have a tough time sleeping if Saquon goes to film the outside of that, as I've told you, just being out. I haven't been around enough players, but he's the, he's the most popular player we have by far. Hickey, he slept last night, right on, on a, a thousand, a thread count bed with a soft pillow and a big bed. He slept okay last night, right?
With neon green lights piercing through his windows from the empire state building. I don't know. Oh my goodness.
Oh man. That's right. The empire state building is, uh, it's agnostic. It's sports agnostic. It will light up for anybody.
Now, last night they lit it up in, in Kelly green and honor for the Eagles. But what's he going to do? He can't go back in time and get Saquon.
He got, he's a billionaire Hickey. He'll get over it, right? Yeah.
I mean, I think you can also sleep better at night knowing at least that you made the right move. I mean, yeah. What the hell were you going to pay, pay Saquon for and your team sucks, right?
How many more wins they have to take on bark upon that bad off? It's a line, maybe one. Maybe. Yeah, that's it. And Saquon will get beat up to death. Exactly. Right. You need, you need a good running back on a good team, a good running back on a bad team.
It's just a waste of time for everybody. For all of that. Just sign some guy from, I don't know, sign a guy off the street and let him take that beating. I know the giant fans are mad. Oh, we missed out on Jayden Daniels. Oh my God. We don't have Saquon. We don't have Saquon. We don't have Saquon.
Oh my God. We don't have Saquon. We let Saquon go to the Eagles and I understand that part hurting. You had no use for Saquon because your team stinks.
Pretty hilarious. When Saquon signed with the Philadelphia Eagles, one of his two daughters asked him, Hey, so daddy, does this mean that we're going to start winning now? Offensive, what's he going to win? Offensive player of the year, right? Likely he should.
Absolutely. The man is going to get the award. Saquon Barkley is going to play in the super bowl. This is after this man has, has ripped ligaments in his leg and has missed time and has had issues with the giants and ups and downs and starts and stops.
He would not be anywhere near a super bowl with the New York giants. And he was asked about this last night. Did you think that you would get here after year one in Philadelphia?
Listen to Saquon. Of course. That's why I came here. Um, you know, that's one of the first conversations I had with Howie.
Um, that's a conversation I had with my family. And like I said, last week came to Philly to be a part of games like this. Um, and none better than a game where you can advance his super bowl. Man. He makes it look too easy.
It's fast, powerful, ridiculously athletic. Like Saquon Barkley is a, he's a beast out there. I said it when he had that first touchdown run, I put it on line. I'm like, this dude is like, he's out of a video game. I'm going to bring him down. And so I don't know what Washington is going to look like next year.
Nobody knows. We saw how good CJ Stroud looked in year one, and we know how many injuries that they had to deal with. And even his offensive line, Washington certainly needs help in improving the offense around Jayden Daniels. So he doesn't have to lead the team in rushing, which I don't think he should. He shouldn't have to generate the off. He needs help.
He needs help. But Saquon Barkley is in the right place at the right time. And we got two weeks to talk about it. I don't think anybody would be surprised if the Eagles won the Superbowl. And that might make New York giant fans want to vomit, but let's be real. The New York giants are nowhere in the class or space of the Philadelphia Eagles right now. They don't have even as bright a future.
We don't know what their future looks like, like Washington. And so here we got the NFC East. One team has a bright spot with a quarterback who almost became the first rookie to start in the Super Bowl. And then you got another team in your division going back to the Super Bowl for the second time in three years. And meanwhile, you got the Dallas Cowboys who don't even understand that not having been to even a championship game in just about the past 30 years is a drought. Eagles fans, commanders fans, congratulations. You are playing in a division with a bunch of idiots.
Take advantage. It's the J.R. Sportbree show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to take a break. We come back on the other side. It's time for a conversation with someone who keeps up with the team that is advancing to the Super Bowl. John McMullen is going to join us from S.I. now to talk about these Philadelphia Eagles. We'll talk more about them. We'll get into the Chiefs.
We got a lot to do. It's the J.R. Sportbree show on the Infinity Sports Network. You're listening to the J.R. Sportbree. It is the J.R. Sportbree show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. And I need you to think O'Reilly Auto Parts for all of your car care needs.
Get guaranteed low prices and excellent customer service from the professional parts people at O'Reilly Auto Parts. Right before we went to break, we took a look at some of the disappointments in the NFC East. You can look at the Dallas Cowboys hiring a new head coach today and Brian Schottenheimer. You can look at the Giants and the disaster that they are.
And we have some positives. Washington has a quarterback to look forward to in the future. And then we have the Philadelphia Eagles who are going back to the Super Bowl for the second time in three years to talk about these Eagles, how they have bounced back, what we can look forward to over the next several weeks and how they got here. Some to have a chat with John McMullen, who covers these Eagles is an insider for S.I.
Now. John, how are you? I'm doing well. Thanks for having me.
Well, thank you so much for taking the time. You think about where things were last season as a defense was torched and people were looking at Nick Sirianni kind of crazy. What are your thoughts on how things have just changed in a matter of a year? Yeah, well, it's interesting you bring that up, because I think the biggest I think the obvious thing that's kind of splashing is the headliner for most people's sake. Juan Barkley historic year. He needs 30 rushing yards in the Super Bowl to break Terrell Davis's single season record when he includes postseason.
So he'll probably do that in the first quarter. It's been historic, but I think the biggest part of this return is the defense. And, you know, last year, you can make a strong argument at the end of the season.
The worst defense in football. And they bring in Vic Fangio and they're the number one defense in football. You just don't see that kind of turnaround in one season. So I think Vic Fangio deserves the kind of credit, but also, you know, the development of Jalen Carter, Zach Bond coming out of nowhere to be a defensive player of the year candidate, Quinon Mitchell, Cooper DeGeneres, rookie cornerbacks, starting and excelling is rare. So that turnaround is I remember talking about it in the the offseason. We were saying, well, if Vic can get this defense from bottom of the NFL to 15, 16, the Eagles would have a chance.
He got him the number one, number one. John McMullen is here with us, covers the Eagles for SI Now. Vic Fangio comes in. They completely switch things up in all the coaching rooms. And Nick Sirianni is here. There was conversations right before the season that if things didn't turn around, that he might be on on the way out. Have you noticed any changes and how he approaches the game? Does he seem more settled? It was kind of a shock when they went to the Super Bowl a few years ago and say, hey, Nick Sirianni is already here.
And then he got beat up in the court of public opinion. How has he evolved as a coach, if at all? Yeah, I think he's evolved pretty significantly. He's a full time CEO coach now, which I think a lot of teams should go in that direction. I've advocated that for years. I don't want to hire a head coach that is essentially a super coordinator and doesn't pay attention to one side of the football. I want to, to me, that position is more about leadership than X's and O's than scheme. So scheme is going to change. Players change. And good coaches change their schemes to fit their players.
So to me, it's a much bigger job than people realize. And he's settled into that CEO role. And, you know, he, in the Super Bowl era, he is the only coach, think about that, the only coach to make the postseason in his first four years and make two Super Bowls.
Nobody else has ever done it before. So, you know, his personality rubs people the wrong way at times. A little bit over the top, which I think doesn't play well. But as far as wins and losses, other than Andy Reid, nobody's in his realm right now.
Well, John, you talk about scheme. The Eagles have certainly even throughout all the success this year, they've been criticized the usage of the ball in the air. We know about the addition to Saquon.
You certainly want to hand it off. We see that's going to get him likely an Offensive Player of the Year award. What's going on with Jalen, if anything? He didn't look all that worse for wear yesterday with that knee. What can we expect over the next few weeks for him to be fine? Yeah, I don't know about fine, but he's proven he can play through things. And he did show any worse for wear. He's definitely banged up.
He was going to wear a brace and seemed to have a lot of trouble with it and ditched it right before the game. And he moved around well enough. I don't think he was his typical mobile self, but he threw the football better, which I think has a lot to do with just throwing with more conviction. When he does that, I think he's very effective. When he holds on to the football is when he starts to have problems.
But I think there's unintended consequences to everything. And when you run the ball as effectively as Philadelphia, again, historically good, that's going to have an impact on the passing game. You just don't throw it as much. And that's kind of what happened to the Eagles. And AJ Brown has certainly been in the news throughout the course of the season for how often he's gotten the ball and not often enough or whether he's reading a book on the sidelines. Yesterday, 96 yards receiving and a touchdown. Do you think he's been misunderstood throughout the course of the year?
What is the general public missing or not understanding? Well, I think in nature that because of the way the NFL has been over the years, people kind of all automatically default to wide receivers as deepest. Sometimes it's true.
Sometimes it isn't. In the case of AJ, you know, he's a team captain. He's voted that by his teammates.
It's not assigned. So he's, you know, but he's a very accountable guy. So, you know, earlier in the season when the passing game wasn't working well, he called that out. And I think a lot of people focused on that. And, you know, the same week, Wayne Johnson did the same thing. Jordan Mylotta did the same thing. Devante Smith did the same thing. Even Jalen Hurts said the same thing. But for whatever reason, whether it's because of the position, whether it's because of the perception, it sort of rained down on AJ Brown. But I think, you know, second team all pro and they don't throw the ball a lot. He's one of the best receivers in football.
If you look at the 60-yard touchdown on the first offensive play of the game, it was a crack toss play. It was AJ Brown coming down to get the block that initially sprung Saquon Barkley. So, you know, he's, and it's funny, if you talk to the Eagles, including Saquon, most people say, who's the best player on the Eagles? Everybody says Saquon. Saquon says AJ Brown.
Let me ask you this, John. There was no Saquon Barkley on that team that went to the Super Bowl. And we know AJ Brown is going to get his shot now as well. Would they be here if they did not sign Saquon Barkley last offseason?
Uh, probably not. But there's, there's a host of things. I mentioned the defense. I mean, they could have signed Saquon Barkley. And if they don't sign Vic Fangio as a coordinator, if they don't bring in Zach Baugh, and if they don't trust Quenya Mitchell, if they don't trust Cooper Eugene, they're probably not in the Super Bowl.
So there were a host of moves on both sides of football that worked out that got them to this point. The offensive line is having an historic season to the point where a former GM just texted me last week and said, this is the first time I heard this and I thought about it. He said, this is, this is one of the best offensive lines of all time.
Of all time. And you look at it from left to right, Jordan Mylotta, Landy Dickerson, Cam Jergens, Makai Becton, Lane Johnson. It's been dominant. And, you know, people in New York, where you guys are, is they saw Saquon for six years. He didn't do this in New York, because they didn't have that offensive line.
So everything sort of has fit together perfectly. John McMullen joining us from SI Now. What do you think this means when we actually get to the game this Sunday? Do you think the Eagles are finally going to get over the hump of Kansas City or do you think Kansas City will three-peat?
Well, it's tough to bet against the coach quarterback duo, Vandy Reed and Patrick Mahomes. I mean, one of the best of all time. We all thought, all right, you know, when Tom Brady finally retired, that he sort of broke everyone's perception. You're not supposed to win that many Super Bowls. And he said, that's going to take a long time for that to happen again.
Well, maybe not. Patrick Mahomes is doing what he's doing. I think the Eagles are the more talented team from one through 53. But you have a Hall of Fame coach and a Hall of Fame quarterback.
And that twosome is very, very difficult to beat. The Eagles were the better team in Super Bowl 57. And they lost because of that quarterback and that coach.
And they're still there. Rick Flair rules apply for any wrestling fans. We heard the same thing from from Josh Allen and he certainly understands how difficult it is to get past this combination of Andy Reed and Patrick Mahomes. But John, thank you so much for taking the time to join us. Where can people follow you and all of your work? They can read me at si.com backslash nfl backslash eagles. You can listen to me, view me on Purse 365 every morning and see it at my ex-platform at J.F.
McMullen, watching on YouTube Monday through Friday. It's Purse 365. John, thank you so much and enjoy the next couple of weeks. It could be a big one.
OK, thank you. Thanks for having me. No doubt about it. That John McMullen of Sports Illustrated now covers all things Eagles. It's the J.R. Sportbree show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. 855-212-4227 is the number.
That's 855-212-4227. Without a shadow of a doubt, it's tough to beat the combination of Mahomes and Reed. And Andy Reed is even putting himself. I can't even say he's putting himself. He is continuing to just check boxes and he might be checking boxes for a few more years. That helps establish him as just maybe the greatest coach of all time.
He got his work cut out for him, but he's already in the conversation. We're going to talk about that. I'm going to get some more of your calls. It's the J.R. Sportbree show coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. You're listening to the J.R. Sportbree.
It's the J.R. Sportbree show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Thank you so much to John McMullen for joining us in the last break covers the Eagles for Sports Illustrated. Now we're going to see if the Philadelphia Eagles can beat the Kansas City Chiefs. They get a rematch from the Super Bowl two seasons ago out in Glendale, Arizona. They lost that game via field goal.
We're going to have plenty of time to talk about that matchup specifically. And if there's one thing that that I really remember following that loss for Philadelphia was Jalen Hurts reaction. We've seen some players following the Super Bowl. Just we've seen Cam Newton pout. It just didn't even want to be bothered.
I get it. He was doing. But then we see someone like Jalen Hurts, how he handled it.
He sat there like, you know, I got this under control. We lost. It sucks that we lost.
And they nothing better to do, but but get better and try to come back. And I will always appreciate and respect him for how he did that. He doesn't give you a lot of personality. You don't see Jalen Hurts and commercials. He ain't selling soup. He's not selling shoes. The man just goes out there and plays. He's a winner.
And we'll see what he does in the Super Bowl down in New Orleans. 855-212-4227. That's 855-212-4227. You can find me online at JR Sport Brief. You can also watch this show live on YouTube. All you have to do is search the Infinity Sports Network on YouTube. And boom, the show will pop right on.
Much love and many thanks to people watching live. Let's go to the phone lines. Let's go to Niagara Falls and talk to Kevin.
Kevin, you're on the JR Sport Brief Show. What's going on? Hi, Jer. How are you doing? I am feeling amazing. How are you doing? You good? We're all right.
Hey, the best you want, you know, between the Bills and Chiefs. No doubt in my mind. Those, you know, it's like a big puzzle. Those need a couple of pieces, but, you know, credit goes out. Yeah, I know. We're hurting, but we'll make it through.
I agree, Kevin. Is that it? Anything else? Is that it?
No, that's about it. OK, well, I appreciate your optimism. You'll make it through. Thank you, Kevin. Better luck next year. Thank you, yes.
No problem. Yeah. Picky, I love his optimism, right? He's the most optimistic Bills fan that I've heard all day. Ironic because just from the tone of the voice sounded like the most depressed Bills fan we maybe have had it on the show all day. Yeah, he said, well, that's why.
What are they? Not that you can judge a book by its cover. Yeah, he sounded depressed, but he was happy. Small victories here. Yeah, small victories.
8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. I'm still trying to understand how we have all of these just depressed football fans mad at Kansas City. And so I want to answer one question that was asked of me from the first hour of the show. Do I think that Patrick Mahomes is passing Brady if he wins another one? No, that's the short of it. Is it a spectacular accomplishment that we've never seen in the NFL if Mahomes is to win three straight?
Yes and absolutely. But am I taking a look at Tom Brady's seven championships and saying that Mahomes has now jumped him? Not quite. I mean, if you want to put him as the second best in the Super Bowl era, I think you could do that. But to now jump him over Tom Brady? No. Do I think that Patrick Mahomes has to win? Does he must? Is it a must for him to win seven championships to to be better than Brady?
I don't think so. But that's the beauty of watching a guy play that there is that there is nothing that's guaranteed here that we got hopefully years and years more to see what Patrick Mahomes can do. And by the way. He's not even 30 yet. You know, 30 years old.
Again, he is still rolling, having success for the life of me. I don't get. Why people can't stand him, I know we had that one guy calling earlier, he's finding all the offseason reasons. Andy Reid's son, the car accidents and injuring people like that's his reason not to like the Kansas City Chiefs.
I'm like, come on, man. People have done ridiculous things that are just criminal in some cases like that, just like all over the place. But I'm talking about football. And we got people comparing the Kansas City Chiefs to the New England Patriots saying that they're worse.
And I'm like, how? Like the Patriots were real villains. Tom Brady ended up marrying a supermodel. He became this guy from out of nowhere that people could respect.
He's like, he's, he's, he's like Brock Purdy on steroids. His story is here comes this guy that nobody wanted. Absolutely nobody wanted. He got his chance and his opportunity because Mo Lewis knocked the living the hell out of Drew Bledsoe. And all of a sudden we get this story of Tom Brady. When Tom Brady first started playing quarterback, he was no Patrick Mahomes. People expected Patrick Mahomes to Red Raider his way all over the NFL.
And he has, okay. They didn't want this from Tom Brady. The legend of Tom Brady grew. He didn't throw the ball around a lot when he was young, when he first got the job, Bill Belichick babysat him. Then they started to let him loose and he started winning championships.
And along the way, there was deflate gate and the tuck rule. And Belichick is an evil villain who lives in the basement with dirty, ripped up clothes. Brady is marrying supermodels. He's coming back from knee injuries and he's, he's different. He's not relatable because of his diet. People look at Patrick Mahomes and they make fun of him because of his voice. And yet a guy has a contract that is just, you can move the scale on. He's making a half, a half billion dollars as quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs. People make fun of this guy, what his wife looks like.
People are weird in that regard. And the Patrick Mahomes don't bother anybody. His brother has certainly been a pain in the ass. His dad is, is, can't stay out of jail with the DUIs. His dad played professional baseball. Like, and he just gets up and plays and busts everybody ass. I certainly find Patrick Mahomes to be much more relatable than, than Tom Brady, who all of a sudden he went from being the guy that wasn't expected to do anything in his career.
He became the, the super workout. I can't even eat a tomato. It's not good for you. It's like, what are you doing? He's not even a human being. Kansas City Chiefs, they're not anywhere close to a 20 year stretch of, can you give me a break that we got from the Patriots?
So to even get that comparison is still just completely over my damn head. You're tired of the Chiefs for what? Being good since 2019? And I remember when, when Alex Smith, I was worried about watching this guy play football with his broken up leg. I mean, sheesh, this is wild stuff.
You know what? Nate Burleson, he talked about this yesterday. He was on CBS post game. He basically told everybody, just relax on the Chiefs. This, don't be mad. Get used to it. It is to the fan bases out there. If you're not a Chiefs fan, that's okay.
But resist the urge to fall for the narrative that we're tired of seeing them win, that we might be fatigued of watching KC go to the Super Bowl over and over again. You are witnessing greatness and just be happy that you are alive to be, be there to see it. Yeah. I feel the same way. Look, Michael Jordan was whooping up on everybody in the 90s and we've had different eras and generations. I mean, as I sit here in the studio on the screen in front of me, Oh, where did the hell? Oh, they just finished.
Good for them. There was a Tiger Woods playing like, man, there's so many people want to get past Tiger Woods when he was in his prime, man. People wanted to get past bill Russell in his prime.
People wanted to get past Derek Jeter in his prime and some teams did it every now and then. Come on. Nobody wins every year. Right now is Patrick Mahone's time.
Get over it. What's unlikable. Oh, the, the tight end. Kelsey has a, you know, a famous girlfriend. Like Andy Reed is not unlikable. The guy's eating cheeseburgers and Mike's football. People are bugging.
Hickey. Am I missing something? What makes the chiefs unlikable?
I haven't found it yet. Besides they win. I guess people are sick of winning, but there's nothing about any of these, even Travis Kelsey for as much as he wants to be famous and he is famous and he's dating this lady.
Even he doesn't come across as an egotistical jackass. You know what I'm saying? I agree. I'm with, I don't get it. I was trying to talk about the show last night, even put a tweet out, just like, like what makes, like, explain to me why you don't like the chiefs. There's no rational response.
You actually get back. It's they all hate them probably just because everyone is jealous, which I get like that. That's like, that to me is a valid reason.
I'll take that. If you say you hate them because they win so much every year, fine. Okay. But otherwise, like, like you said, you look at the Patriots comparison with Bill Belichick and kind of the prickly, we'll really clean up your prickly personality and don't forget, they had two cheating scandals too, that they were implicated on. The chiefs, they're not cheating. They're likable. They're cool.
It's, I don't get it. Spygate, Deflategate. The head coach was just a curmudgeon.
The quarterback compared to the completely unrelatable to a normal human being. Like there was nothing, there wasn't a lot to like about the Patriots and the chiefs, what is it not to like that they win? Oh, but people are going to tell me again about the referees.
Do I have to get into that again? The games are rigged, huh? Well, the games are rigged. The referees have a bias against the chiefs.
And I said this, and it doesn't matter what sporting event it is. Don't leave the games in the hands of the refs. Don't. Beat that ass. Knock them out.
Don't let the game quote unquote go to the judges. The Kansas city chiefs, they win all the close games. And it's not because of the refs.
It's because they're good. That's it. Yeah. You're going to have bias.
Welcome to life. When you're good at what you do, you get the benefit of the doubt. There's a difference between that and something being rigged. Chiefs are fine. If you want to root for the Eagles and go for it, I don't care who wins.
I want a good story. I want Hertz to win. I want to see a three-peat. I like a good story. That's what the hell I want. I ain't got no money on anybody, but just please let's stop putting this team, this dynasty, going for three, three in a row. Let's not put them with the Patriots. 855-212-4227. We'll get to more of your calls on the other side. Don't move.
