It is the JR Sportbreeze show here. Whoa, my goodness. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Yeah. Do we got a score? Wait.
It's the JR Sportbreeze show coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm excited. We got the college football playoff national championship game. Notre Dame is at the goal at the goal line already. They are running that ball, moving that ball about five and a half minutes to go in the first quarter. The game just started like 15 minutes ago.
And they're out trying to punch the ball into the end zone. We'll keep you up to date on this national championship game as the evening continues on. Thank you to everybody listening live on their local Infinity Sports Network affiliate. People tuned in on the free Odyssey app. People on Sirius XM Channel 375.
People listening on a smart speaker. All you got to do is ask it to play the Infinity Sports Network and it is a score. Riley Leonard punches it in from the one yard line. The quarterback takes it on his own 18 plays 75 yards. I told you they were moving that damn ball. Notre Dame leads seven to nothing against the Ohio State University. That game taking place right here in Atlanta, Georgia, downtown at Mercedes Benz Stadium.
I'm only about a mile and a half away. Shout out to super producer and host Ryan Hickey. He is live on site inside of the stadium, which I'm sure is going crazy right now with all the Notre Dame fans. And thank you so much to our producer holding it down in New York City, Jack Cardy. Jack Cardy is here with me. He is here with you. If you want to be a part of the show, you can 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27.
That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. You can find me online everywhere at J.R. Sport Brief.
That's at J.R. Sport Brief everywhere on social media. We've been able to talk some college football playoff action. We've been able to take a look at the amazing divisional round matchups in the NFL playoffs that we saw over the weekend. A thank you to Cordell Woodland from 1 0 5 7. The fan in Baltimore to talk about what we can expect from the Baltimore Ravens moving forward.
And the answer is not much of a difference. They're probably going to run back, give or take the same damn team that we got last year or this season. And they got to hope for the best. And then right before we went to break, we talked about a winner. We discussed the Washington. Commanders.
And how about this? In about 20 minutes, we're going to have a chat with Grant Paulson, who is a host on 1 0 6 7. The fan in Washington, D.C., because who expected Jaden Daniels to be this good? Did Jaden Daniels expect him to be this good? Out of does anybody the Dan Quinn expect them to be this good? I don't think so. We'll have that chat with Grant Paulson in 20 minutes. What can we expect?
A Super Bowl? I'm not going that far. Like every time the commanders win, I'm just like, OK, all right. I'm a little surprised. I'm a little shocked. Becomes a point in time where you just have to accept it. Accept things for what they are.
Have that chat in a little while and give you an update here. Yeah. Wow. That opening drive by Notre Dame took up almost well, three quarters of the damn first quarter here. Eighteen plays seventy five yards, almost 10 minutes off the clock as Notre Dame takes it all the way to the goal line.
And Riley Leonard runs it in his cell. So Notre Dame has a seven to nothing lead here against Ohio State. We'll keep you up to date on the game as it progresses on. I still got Ohio State winning. I'm not going to say this is Notre Dame's last score of the game.
I don't believe that by any stretch of the imagination. They just don't have the offensive firepower that Ohio State has. Ibuka and Smith and Dammit Judkins. People don't even talk about him. They got him from Ole Miss State. They got some weapons to go out there and bandy about.
I still expect for Ohio State to walk away with the championship and speaking of championships. And we got plenty of time this week to discuss the teams that are moving forward. You think about you think about some of the. This is pretty, pretty hilarious. What a distraction.
Hey, Jack Carney, this is funny. I'm over here doing my job. You want to know who's messaging me while I'm at work? No, who's messaging you? Ryan Hickey. I had a funny feeling he was.
I had a funny feeling I was going to be Ryan Hickey is sending me he's sending me updates, which I appreciate. He's telling me about the swag surf that is taking place in the stadium. Oh, I bet there's some I bet some people are rocking some pretty awesome merch right there down there. But forget the merch.
He's telling me the swag surf is pretty pathetic. Oh, really? And I bet I mean, I bet I'm not surprised.
They got reason to sweat. So Ryan Hickey, not even here on the air, providing provided some some comedy here. Jack, you still got Ohio State winning this game? No big deal, right? Honestly, I said I'm rooting for Notre Dame here. I do still think that Ohio State's offense versus Notre Dame's defense is going to be a good match up. But I think Ohio State does kind of pull away. Like I said, keep it close in the first half. But I think Ohio State eventually will start rolling.
But you know what? That was an impressive drive by Notre Dame there. They move the ball against that defense. People didn't think they were going to could even do that.
Rylant Riley Leonard, excuse me, had a couple of nice runs there. Walks in untouched into the end zone. You know what? I still think Ohio State's going to win. You know what? You never know. You never know. You know, it's a crazy game. I'm going to say this. Not a jerk thing. I don't know.
I'm not I'm not. I can't predict stuff. That might be Notre Dame's best driver. The entire game might be. I mean, could there be a game winning drive that sets up a kid? Could there be a game winning touchdown?
Sure. Of course, we don't know that there's a million different permutations, but that might be their best drive. And we just have to wait and figure out. That's why they go out there and play the game. That's why they do so.
Now, I did mention to you before I was distracted by Ryan Hickey having a good time here in Atlanta, Georgia. I told you that there's no expectations on Jayden Daniels and the commanders. It's like they're playing with house money. Nobody expected them to be here. It's quite the opposite for the Kansas City Chiefs. And what was probably the most boring game of the entire weekend, the Kansas City Chiefs dispatched to Houston, twenty three to fourteen. What was the most exciting part of the game?
You know, I don't know. Travis Kelce looking like he has a pulse. Them showing Taylor Swift and Kaitlin Clark in the skybox. Travis Kelce walking away from the game. One hundred and seventeen yards had a touchdown as well. Most of the talk following this game were the refs.
What else is new? That was the theme throughout the course of the game. And yeah, there were some ridiculous penalties, namely roughing the passer. You can't breathe on Patrick Mahomes. Will Anderson was certainly in his ass the entire game.
You can't touch him. I mean, even the referees. We had two defenders from Houston that ran into each other and they call that roughing like they hit Patrick Mahomes when he was down. He didn't even get hit.
They hit each other. Even Troy Aikman was just like, what the hell are we watching right now? These referees stink. The Houston Texans penalized eight times eighty two yards.
Now, that's not to take away from their own misdeeds and misgivings. Their kicker stunk. We're talking about missed kicks and blocked field goals and missed extra points. It was ugly. The referees did play a part.
But the Texans, let's just say they played a larger part. They stunk. Kansas City sacked them eight times. Stroud was running around. Well, he wasn't running because he was limping.
It was not good. And so the Kansas City Chiefs, they advanced to their seventh straight AFC Championship game. Patrick Mahomes, what else is new, adds to everything he's ever done. Sixteen and three playoff record. Most wins tied with Joe Montana. Only Brady has more. I can go on and on about how spectacular the Chiefs are.
But the season is over for the Texans and D'Amico Ryan's. He made it very clear we didn't just play against the Kansas City Chiefs. And he didn't want to say the referees because he didn't want to get fined. But we knew what the hell he was talking about. We knew going into this game and it was us versus everybody. Right. When I say everybody is everybody, all of whatever, everybody, the naysayers, the doubt.
Right. Everybody. You know, when I say everybody, I mean everybody, including the referees. We know what you're talking about. Joe Mixon. This man's been running around on a bad wheel past several weeks at 88 yards and one touchdown.
Was Joe Mixon a little clearer on who they were facing off against? Listen to this. Everybody know how it is playing up here.
You can't you can never leave. You can never leave it into the ref's hands. But I mean, the whole world see, man, like what it is, bro. But it is what it is.
You know, I said, when it comes down to it, you can never leave it into the ref's hands there. Thank you. Thank you.
I wish more. I don't expect fans to say this because fans go by emotion. Right. Players actually out there busting their ass. A lot of emotion, but sometimes a little bit more logic most of the time, unless you're Jimmy Butler, completely nuts, trying to force stuff.
I don't know. You have to control what you can control. I don't care if it's a sporting event.
I don't care if it's life. There are always outside factors. There's always extraneous circumstances, always things on the outside that can have an effect on what what takes place on the inside.
But at the base, you got to start with you. Who the hell are you blaming first? You gonna blame the referees for losing this game or you gonna blame you? Let's be real. When it comes to talent and experience, the Kansas City Chiefs have more. And when it comes to sports, this is what we also know. The more veteran experience winning team is going to have a leg up. That's just what it is. This is nothing new in sports. And until you beat them, you you without a shadow of a doubt, don't blame the refs. We can go back to Michael Jordan.
I think most of us know. There is the Jordan rules. He was so good. And by the way, Michael Jordan got his ass beat before he started winning those championships. When he was at his peak, he was so respected. If you looked at him the wrong way, Michael Jordan could go over and kind of look at the ref and go, well, what are you doing? Look at him and then look at me.
What is your problem? Next thing you know, Michael Jordan's getting whatever he wants. Those are the Jordan rules. Patrick Mahomes is successful enough at this stage of his career, even not even in his thirties yet. He's successful enough that he's going to get the benefit of the doubt when there's penalties. Even when you got two defenders crashing into each other. Yeah, the NFL can do better, but you can't blame the refs.
Start with blaming your selves to that. This is Kansas City's seventh straight AFC title game. They are hosting the AFC title game for the sixth time in seven years. This is a ridiculous stretch by Kansas City. It's like we went from the New England Patriots to the Chiefs. By my estimation, just personally, I find them to be a whole hell of a lot more likable than those New England Patriots with Brady and Belichick. Andy Reid picking up his three hundredth win, the fourth coach in history to do so.
This is what Andy Reid, Captain Cheeseburger had to say about the Chiefs going to another AFC championship game. I'm proud of our guys for how they handled it. And we knocked a little the rest out.
Everybody stayed positive with each other and that whole bit. And here we sit with a championship game. I mean, we're humbled to be in that position and fortunate. You know, we appreciate that we're right here at Arrowhead.
I'm sure he had to get to do it at home. That's what happens when you're the best. This is what Patrick Mahomes had to say about his coach getting his three hundredth win. He's just a great person. I'm more than a great coach. He's just a great person. And guys want to play for a guy like that. And he's been so instrumental in making me who I am.
And I owe him a lot of my pretty much all of my success. And so I told him that we need to get the three or two before this year that we worry about next year. AFC championship game victory, a Super Bowl victory. The Texans hope that they can get there. C.J. Stroud had a good year, but not quite as good as he did in his rookie season. The Texans, they got a ways to go before they catch up to the Chiefs. Well, damn it, who's catching up to the Kansas City Chiefs?
C.J. Stroud thinking about his career moving forward. He says, yeah, well, the season is over and we got some work to do. I think those tough times on the field for me definitely is going to pay off in the long run.
I'm excited because, you know, if this is a down year and, you know, another playoff win, play against a great chief team and compete with him. And I'm not saying I'm happy with it, but I'm definitely you know, I'm definitely encouraged and motivated that, you know, there's more for the Texans, you know, other side of the home. Man, I knew the Texans were done from when they thought they recovered the fumble. And Chris Boyd shoved his own coach and nobody knew what the hell was going on.
I knew the game was over from that. The Texans, at least they're not as bad as they were a few years ago. Man, they had fans just rescinding their fandom.
Things are a little bit brighter now with the DeBico Ryans. Nobody's catching the Chiefs, though, maybe this year, but they've been on a run. It's the JR Sportbree Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network.
There are so many expectations for the Chiefs to go to AFC Championship games and to compete for Super Bowls. When we come back from break, we're going to have a chat with Grant Paulson. He's a host on 106.7, the fan in D.C. I want to ask him about a team that nobody has expectations for.
It's the Washington commanders. We'll have that chat on the other side of the break. You are locked in coast to coast. It's the JR Sportbree Show on the Infinity Sports Network.
Thanks for joining us, and we'll see you next time. It's the JR Sportbree Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. College football playoff is all tied up at seven all now. Ohio State has just scored a seven to seven. We'll keep you up to date as the night continues on, and we'll see who walks away with the championship as some somebody else looking for a championship specifically in the NFL. Nobody expected them to be here.
They knocked off the presumptive favorite to represent the NFC that the lines over the weekend. I'm talking about the Washington commanders to talk about what they've done, where they are, where they could go. The surprise of Jayden Daniels, who the hell expected this? It's time to have a conversation. The co-host of The Afternoon Show, Grant and Daniel, one of six seven, the fan in D.C. We're being joined by Grant Paulson. Grant, how are you, man? You doing good?
It's been a minute. It's good to talk to you there. Last time I saw you, we were participating in the circus over at MGM National Harbor together, I believe.
I was going to say one of the one. You know what? And this sounds crazy. Hey, just a sports guy. That was one of the highlights of my life.
What we did and participate in and help in that. And so for anyone not familiar with familiar. And at this point, was was that the summer of twenty, twenty three? Am I saying the right thing? You are. That was a year ago this past summer. Yeah.
Oh, my. Benefiting obviously Special Olympics and so much of the work that you had done. But we had a theme night out there. And lo and behold, we got called up basically on stage to do some skit, which I was not prepared for. But we had a great night. It was a good time. We did. You weren't. Let me tell you something. I was a part of it.
You weren't the only one who was surprised. OK, let's. But a great a great night, a great night for awareness for Special Olympics.
A shout out to the Universal Circus for all the work that they're doing, as well as Special Olympics. Well, let's talk to let's talk about a special moment. Who the hell expected Washington to be here? Grant, I know you did not write. No, sir. Not me.
Nobody in this town, really. And I'll be honest, I think even in their wildest dreams, their ownership, their front office, their coaching staff, I think they were all excited when they put together their their roster and they saw Jayden Daniels play for the first time at training camp. But they didn't think this was in the cards this year.
This was year one of a build. They wanted to establish a culture, be a tough team to play, be a team that was physical and arrived violently and protected the football. But they just messed around thanks to Jayden Daniels and found themselves in a conference title game. Well, Grant, before we get to Jayden Daniels, everybody looks at him with just reason and goes, he's the reason why we're here. What are some other contributing factors that have led to them being, which is still crazy to say, and an NFC championship game?
Yeah, just hearing that is wild. Still, I would say the first thing is specific to these two playoff teams, especially, but this has been a theme all year long. They protect the football and they've done a pretty good job generating takeaways in their big games. These last two weeks, they're plus six in turnover margin. I mean, J.R., look at the playoff field. The teams that have won the turnover battle are 7-0 so far in the NFL postseason.
In fact, this past weekend, all of the teams that had more yards but more turnovers as well than their opponent lost, and the teams advanced with fewer yards gained, but not having given the ball up. And so I think that's been a big key for Washington. They turned the Lions over five times. They turned Jared Goff over four times.
That was obviously significant. I think the other thing is, in addition to, you mentioned kind of aside from Jayden Daniels, I think they really legitimately believe now in this up against the world mentality that you see so often that they're living it right now. Nobody thinks they can win these games but themselves, and they revel in that. Without a shadow of a doubt, I'm picking against them at every game. I don't care if they go to the Super Bowl. I'm just being honest. We're being joined by Grant Paulson, afternoon co-host on 106.7, the fan in D.C. I mean, what were your expectations heading into the season from this Commander's team?
Good question. I think for me, I thought seven wins would be a successful year. I thought they'd be in a good spot coming off of four wins, picking second in the draft, being 31 of the 32 teams last year. You get three wins better because it wasn't all that fair to say that they couldn't make a big leap.
If 30 new players from a year ago, everything in the building has changed. New ownership, new GM, new head coach. There's really no comparing this operation this year, this team, to last year's. But I thought with the roster they put together, a lot of veterans on a one-year deal, a lot of guys who were trying to prove they got something left, I thought that they would have a chance to go in seven, maybe eight games if everything went well. They went out and won 12 games, which was just staggering.
Nobody saw that coming. They hadn't won 11 games in D.C. since 1991. But when they got to the playoffs even then, they hadn't really beaten anybody. Their only win against a team over 500 all year in the regular season was against the Eagles, who they play now in the NFC title game. And in that game, they were down 21-7 when Jalen Hurts got hurt and Kenny Pickett came in. There was even an asterisk on that game. And so then they go to Tampa Bay in the first round and everyone kind of said, well, there's no way they win this game.
And the magical carpet ride began. Well, Grant, when you think about what we've seen and you talk about all the new pieces that they've added, yeah, you have the quarterback that's there. What should we expect as this team goes forward? I mean, are they just a bunch of slapped together mercenaries? Should we be concerned about how they move forward next year?
I get it. Fans don't want to think about that. But from a national perspective, are we looking at the same team that we'll see next year or is it too much of a fall off because they're just going to be bringing in new pieces? Well, they're going to try to keep as many of the key pieces as they can. And the good news is I think they're going to have a lot of guys that want to stay in their building because they're becoming a destination. The answer to that is that Jayden Daniels is special enough, I think, and elite enough that they're not going anywhere. You can rearrange the deck chairs, you can have a different receiver room or changes at linebacker or, you know, in the corner room or whatever. Jayden Daniels is still there, they're going to have a shot.
I mean, he's kind of the son that they all revolve around in his solar system. The other thing I would say is they're going to be more talented next year unequivocally. They have $100 million to spend third most in the NFL. They also have another draft class obviously coming with a terrific GM at evaluating talent who just hit a home run in his first draft and Adam Peters. They're going to have more talent. The question is, can Dan Quinn, who will be in his second year next year as a head coach, can he recreate the brotherhood that they did this year as they call it? Can they get everyone in the locker room to buy in? Can they recreate the chemistry that I think has been kind of the missing ingredient here for so long that it's been kind of a masterful coaching job for him? So they'll be more talented. They're just getting going. Daniels will be in year two.
Doesn't mean linearly that you'll be better, see CJ Stroud. But he's the reason they're not going away and they're going to be in the mix for a long time, it looks like. Grant Paulson is joining us from 106.7, a fan in DC. You talk about the brotherhood and Dan Quinn, man, I remember he had the brotherhood here in Atlanta and he got close to having a championship.
It did not happen. How has he been received by the fan base given his enthusiasm and overall? He's a he's a warm guy. He's a nice NFL head coach. Yes.
Yeah. He's a very nice head coach. And I would even say beyond that, that he is a player's coach.
I think he initially was viewed as I speak for myself. I didn't love the hire because he was viewed as very redundant to what they had just done. You know, they had hired Ron Rivera, who was a defensive minded retread, who had almost won a Super Bowl, who had been pretty good in the NFC South for several years and then worn out as welcome and got fired. And so who am I talking about here, Rivera or Quinn? But I think what we've seen is that his energy is bigger and better than Rivera's was.
They're very different. He's gotten the guys to buy in right away. And the best thing he did is he built a tremendous coaching staff led by offensive coordinator Cliff Kingsbury, who might be the secret weapon of this whole thing this year for Washington. Joe with Junior's getting head coaching interviews already. Their defensive coordinator came over from Dallas to be with Quinn. And then they have a huge cavalry of position coaches, many of whom have been coordinators or even head coaches like Anthony Lynn, who's getting a head coaching look in Dallas.
It sounds like they're running backs coach. So it's a tremendous staff. And Quinn deserves a lot of credit for that. But the fan base loves him. I mean, there's no doubt they are.
How could they not? He's won more games in his first year than any coach in team history. And he's got him on the precipice of a Super Bowl appearance. Well, Grant, when it's all said and done, I can't believe that we're looking at an NFC championship game appearance by these commanders. Would you pick them over the Eagles like it has to stop at some point, right? We've never seen a rookie quarterback start in a Super Bowl.
True. You've seen five starting conference championship games and they all lost, but none of them were as good as this kid in his first year. They were all kind of carried by defenses, guys like Mark Sanchez, Joe Flacco types. I would pick Washington depending on what I hear about Jalen hurts his health. I don't think hurts look healthy, certainly at the end of their game yesterday. He did not to me wasn't moving around. The safety he took was just inexcusable and bad.
You can't do that, but tells me that he was somewhat you know, debilitated, just wasn't as mobile as he normally is. So if he's not right, then that's a different football team. They're struggling to throw the football right now. Completing a forward pass has been a challenge for them.
The question is, can you stop Saquon Barkley? The Eagles and commanders have played twice this year. Philly won the first at home. They were trailing going into the fourth quarter and then exploded to beat Washington. And Barkley went off in that final quarter with a couple long touchdown run. And then here in DC in the second game, the commanders hung 40 points on the number one defense at the time in the NFL. And it come from behind victory, as I mentioned, down 21 seven after Hertz got hurt.
And then he would go on to miss the last couple weeks of the year. But I tell you that just to say, Washington's not going to be afraid of Philly, you know, having played them for eight quarters and played them pretty even and gone one in one. I think they like how they match up for the most part when they've got the football offensively. The challenge is just defensively. I don't know how you stop Saquon Barkley. Washington's 26th and BBO against the run. They're not good in space against running backs like him who are twitchy and can make people miss.
So it's just a disastrous match up there. Barkley went for 146 and 150 in the two games they are with the combined four touchdowns. So I don't love their chances to slow down the running game or slow down Barkley. And for that reason, I think the Eagles, if Hertz can play effectively and make some plays in the passing game, would be good enough to win. But I'm just not sold that he's healthy and I'm not convinced that he'll be on the field making those plays that they need him to. So I do get Washington a chance. I mean, they're on what feels to me like one of those magical carpet rides where it's hard to explain.
And there's no reason to say they should beat Philly, really, except they shouldn't have beaten Detroit, who they were a nine point dog against. How that works. We live in a world of firsts. There's going to be a rookie quarterback one day who starts in the Super Bowl. Why not Jayden Daniels? Hey, Grant, last question for you.
I don't know if anybody has wanted to dive deep into doing some type of investigative journalism. Where the hell is Dan Snyder? Is he like on a yacht somewhere?
Has anybody checked this pulse? Where the hell is he at? Counting money? Well, we actually have a guy in town that calls himself Dan Snyder, yacht tracker. And he actually keeps up with the GPS coordinates of Dan's yacht.
And I believe it was in the Netherlands on the night that Washington punched its ticket to the NFC Championship game. So he is six point two billion dollars richer. But he's certainly not happy to have lost his team. And, you know, the one thing he always cared about. But I'll tell you what, fans in this town, they only think about him when they want to, you know, laugh at the fact that he is no longer the owner and his expense, so to speak, because, man, did he torment them for a long time. Well, I guess in the Netherlands, about six hours ahead on Saturday night, he might have been sleep. You think he was up watching the game early on his boat? If he was watching, he was hate watching. My guess is it's like when a relationship ends that you didn't want to end, you know, and you have to like just basically burn all the pictures in your fireplace and just say, you know what, I can't think about this person.
When that song comes on, you go right back and have to fight the tears. I'll bet you that there's no football on the channels that he gets on his yacht at this point. Listen, man, social media doesn't help you forget anything now.
I mean, even your own phone doesn't help you forget. That's a fact. Not not at all. Hey, Grant, a final question. What the hell is up with that stadium? Speaking of the future, is it is the team coming back into the city? What's the deal right now? If you're a betting man, you're getting some minus odds on that.
Yeah, that's the favorite of the possibilities. I would say that they end up back in the district at the RFK site, which obviously was where they were when they won the three Super Bowls. They finally got the land.
This is a five hour answer that I'll give you in 20 seconds. But the land, because it was federally owned, basically was not able to be used for a stadium until D.C. got the land back in its own purview. And that took years and politics and a lot of moving parts and basically via a proverbial helm area that happened overnight about a month and a half ago. So now D.C. has got the land back to do with it what they want. There's going to be another fight now at the local government level as to how they're going to use the land and how it should be doled out. But, yeah, I think there's enough will and money and it'll make it a way that they are back on that site, knock down RFK Stadium and build a new one right there.
And listen, man, that that'd be great to have them back in the middle of the city. You want to know who doesn't like driving out there? You want to know, Grant? Me, you. Yeah.
Yeah. I don't I don't like driving out there. And what people that don't know, their current stadium is in what's called Landover, Maryland, but about eight miles outside the city or so. But it might as well take 45, 50 minutes to get to the game.
Traveling to a sporting event, a lot of them in North America. What can you do? Hey, Grant, thank you so much for the time and insight. Where can people follow and listen to you and all your work on one of six, seven, the fan? Yeah, my pleasure, Jr. As always, thanks for having me on. You could text me on social media, Grant H. Paulson. And if you're in the DMV, we're on one of six, seven, the fan here with Odyssey from two to six thirty or listen on the Odyssey app. Hey, Grant, thank you so much.
I look forward to catch you on down the line when I'm back in town. OK, be good, sir. Good. You as well all the time that Grant Paulson, one half of the afternoon duo of Grant and Danny on one of six, seven, the fan in D is C. It's the J.R. Sportbreeze show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven.
That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. We're going to take a break when we come back on the other side. Let's talk about those Eagles, because Grant says that guy, Saquon, he might be the guy that keeps Washington, that keeps the commanders away from the Super Bowl.
And if you've been watching Saquon all year, how could you disagree? We're going to hear and talk about the Eagles on the other side of the break. It's the J.R. Sportbreeze show on the Infinity Sports Network. The national championship game is going on here in Atlanta. It is the J.R. Sportbreeze show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network.
Thank you so much to our guests in our last break. Grant Paulson joining us from one of six, seven, the fan in D.C. talked about the Washington commanders, the surprising run that they were on, and that he likes the commanders to win the game if. If. Jalen hurts in that knee and that leg is badly compromised. He was walking around with that that brace to end the game yesterday. We saw that big rushing touchdown, 44 yards to propel Philadelphia to putting a score up on the board. It's not how you start, it's how you finish.
And he finished hurt. Let's see if it drags on into the next game. Speaking of, it's not how you start, but it's how you finish the college football playoff final. The finale is actively going on here in Atlanta, Georgia, after a big opening drive by Notre Dame in the first to give them a seven to nothing lead.
The last two scores, they've come at the hands of Ohio State while we were in break, literally seconds ago. Quinshan Junkins ran for nine yards. He had a nine yard touchdown rush to make it 13 to seven. The extra point makes it 14 to seven. And that now is the score. Ohio State leading Notre Dame 14 to seven of the big question heading into the game was how Notre Dame was going to keep up with the offense, the offense of Ohio State. And here we are now. They got some catching up to do, not of the realm of possibility that they put some more points up on the board. We'll keep you up to date as we continue on eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven.
That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. Speaking of of Washington in the last break, the team that they have to go out there and go up against. Well, it's the Philadelphia Eagles.
Told you about Jalen hurts his knee. We saw what they did against the Rams, all credit to Los Angeles. And we discussed this on Friday, everything that they had to deal with, everything that they had to go through heading into this game.
There's not a damn thing going to be easy. You think about the wildfires and then going out to Glendale, Arizona, to beat Minnesota and then having to go back home and then prepare for this Eagles game. I give Los Angeles all the credit in the world because even after the Saquon Barkley, who went out there and just had a ridiculous game, two hundred and five yards rushing at a 78 yard run for TD, a 62 yard run for TD had Jared verse looking at his back. Los Angeles was still in this game until the end, even when it looked like, oh, this game is cooked.
Los Angeles still gave them a scare until Philadelphia's defense just basically put a fork in them and told them, hey, y'all y'all are done. Matthew Stafford talking about the defense, he was sacked five times. He threw two touchdowns, three hundred and twenty four yards in the snow.
Snow started to pick up as the game continued on. Philadelphia Eagles, they had this one. Jalen Hurts came through with the big run at the beginning and then Saquon Barkley said, don't worry about it.
I got the rest. This is why they brought him on. This is why they are paying him twenty six million dollars over the next three years. You think about the New York Giants. The New York Giants wouldn't have nearly as much success as the Eagles are having right now, because let's all be real.
Let's all be honest. Giants team stinks. The Philadelphia is the team. This is where it's at. There's no way in hell that they would have him on a team.
New York. What? He'd be a waste. We've been there. We've done that.
We've seen it. And so Saquon Barkley might actually be running this team to a championship. Damn it.
I think he will. I got the Eagles over Washington. I'm sorry.
Yeah, yeah. Even even if Hurts is busted up, I'm still picking Philadelphia. No disrespect to Washington.
I just don't think I don't think it's their time. Nick Sirianni, who is a kind of interesting when it comes to his words, never clear or never precise. He was very precise when it came down to praising Saquon Barkley.
Given the conditions or not in the conditions, it don't matter. It's a luxury to have him. That's for darn sure. Love him. I can't say enough good things about him and the and the leadership that he brings to this football team and just everything he brings to this football team.
Really special. Yeah, we know he might be bringing you a championship. How does Saquon Barkley feel about his game?
Listen to him. Whether it's national spotlight or this Saturday on a parking lot, don't really matter. You know, I just want to make the place for the team. And before that, I just kind of tell myself, just locking in, being focused and O-line did a really good job and I was able to set stuff over my my shoulders and pop two big ones, man. Yeah.
Yeah. 78 yard touchdown run. A 62 yard touchdown run. By the way, I would not want to see Saquon Barkley playing in the park on a Saturday.
I don't think there's a mortal man who'd be able to go out there and bring him down. Oh yeah. By the way, if you cared about AJ Brown, who had one reception in the last game, he improved that this go around to receptions for 14 yards.
Yeah. The Philadelphia Eagles are still not moving the football in the air. Who needs to do that when you can hand the ball to Saquon and he's calling shots and he's just busting it down for touchdown runs. Nick Soriani is the head coach.
He has to kiss everybody's ass. And he says, we did it as a team. That's a great football team. We found a way in the midst of adversity. We embraced the adversity. We played championship defense.
Um, and it takes everybody and every, and every single buddy in that, in that room. Um, and we're excited to, to move on. Uh, but all that did was make us hungry to, to keep going. And then the D great defense, by the way, I mean, even Quinon Mitchell got hurt and then defense still picked it up. I guess what happens when you have Carter up front, another Georgia bulldog, half the damn defense is a bunch of bulldogs.
That's a credit. This is take all of Georgia's players and moving the Philadelphia college football playoff national championship game is still going on right now. Less than five minutes to go in the first half. The Ohio state university leads Notre Dame 14 to seven. We are still rolling and rolling and rolling.
