It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network.

I would happen to be JR. I'm broadcasting live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to everybody locked in and listening all over North America. So whether you happen to be in Canada, the United States of America, or you're listening somewhere else, thank you so much for being here. I don't care where you're at.

I'm just happy that you're locked in. This show gets started every weekday at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. I'm being joined by our super producer and host, Ryan Hickey.

He's in New York City. And again, I'm glad that you're here with us listening on the free Odyssey app. Oh yeah, it's free.

You want to get somebody something for the holidays? Tell them to get the Odyssey app. It's free. Thank you to everybody listening live on their local Infinity Sports Network affiliate. If you got Sirius XM, it's channel 158.

And if you got a smart speaker, ask the speaker to play the Infinity Sports Network. We'll be hanging out for the next three hours. We have so much to get into.

How about this? In 20 minutes from now, we're going to have a chat with Brian Howell from the Boulder Daily Camera. We've been a lot of talks about Deion Sanders and where he might go following this season in Colorado. We know the season isn't over. Is he going to be a Big 12 champion or Colorado? The Buffalo is going to make the college football playoff. We'll talk to Brian Howell about it all.

It is Thursday. We have a Thursday night football matchup between the Washington commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles. Yeah, they're trying to figure out who's going to run the NFC East. I know it's not going to be no Giants. It's not going to be no Dallas Cowboys. We talked about the Dallas Cowboys, took a call on them. All the injuries that they've been dealing with. And now crazy owner. What else is new?

Same old, same old. We talked about John Gruden, former NFL head coach, Super Bowl winning head coach, is back in football. But on the media side, he has joined Barstool Sports. And then I'll let you know that Harrison Butger, star kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, he's going to be unavailable, not just this Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. He's going to be out for maybe a month. He has an injury to his knee on his plant leg, not his kicking leg, but his plant leg. And so I guess good news for the Buffalo Bills. The Chiefs had to get a kicker off of the New York Jets practice squad. So we have so much more to get into as the show continues on. We're going to talk some more football.

How about this? The Tampa Bay Rays are going to be playing this upcoming season at the home of the New York Yankees. Yeah, their spring training facility.

Uh, okay. You know, it's a stupid ass hurricane came through and ruined things. We're going to get into Michigan. They're going after a quarterback recruit. And this is a wild world that we live in now. They're offering this guy almost $11 million to come play quarterback for the Wolverines. We know they need a quarterback that much. Uh, we know we'll get into that.

LeBron James is still lighting people up at almost 40 years old. Mike Tyson has a, I guess we, hickey is a big fight. Can we call it a big fight or what do we call it? A circus? Circus. I think that's a perfect adjective to describe it. Yeah.

Mike Tyson has a big money-making circus, circus fight tomorrow, uh, against Jake Paul. So we'll, we'll get into all of that as the show continues on. If you want to call up, you can.

The phone number here is 8-5-5-2-1 2-1-2-42-27. That's 8-5-5-2-1-2-42-27. Before we went to break, you know, we were talking about coaches, whether it's, it's Gruden. I was asked about Mike McCarthy with the Dallas Cowboys. And now that we are in this spot, this place in the NFL season, we have 11 teams with three wins or less.

We have the Saints and the New York Jets who have already taken the approach of firing their head coaches. Dennis Allen is gone. Rob Salah is gone. Rob Salah probably on a beach somewhere with his 20 kids laughing his ass off at how bad the New York Jets have been.

But it's that time of year. And so the rumors start churning. You know, who's going to get a job next year? Is it going to be Bill Belichick? We heard that from when the Falcons didn't hire him. Is it going to be Mike Vrabel? Mike Vrabel, is he going to have a great and solid pick? You know, is Antonio Pierce, is he going to make it to next season as the Raiders head coach? So there's so many different possibilities.

Doug Peterson, Nick Sirianni. We might have some playoff contending teams that just say, hey, we've had enough. We've had enough. We'll find out soon enough. But that means the rumor mill is churning.

And it's not just Deion Sanders. We'll get into that. And we'll talk to Brian Howell about that in about 15 minutes. But we have a coach in college who hasn't even won a national championship, who is getting potential consideration to make the jump to the NFL. Now, what the hell do you have to do? What type of resume do you have to have to ultimately only being a head coach for like two, three seasons by now, not winning a national championship? You know, this is your first head coaching job, period, in college football.

Like, what do you have to be doing? Well, your name has to be Dan Lanning. You have to be head coach of the Oregon Ducks. You have to have a record of 32-5. Almost three of those losses came at the hands of Washington. You have to be undefeated right now in this college football season for 2024. Dan Lanning, this man was considered to potentially be the head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide before Kalen DeBoer got the job.

As a matter of fact, Dan Lanning said, no, no, thank you. And he's young. He's 38 years old. Like, he's going to have his pick of the letter. He's going to have his chance and his opportunity to help dictate, you know, where he goes and maybe going to the NFL is it.

I mean, if the Ducks, let's say, win the national championship. Picky, how many years has Dylan Gabriel been playing? This man been playing this field like six years. Six years. He's been there a while. The man started playing in 2019.

Yeah, yeah. Now he's thrown more touchdowns than anybody ever in college football. Now, he's, Picky, what's he going to be? Well, he's going to be backing somebody up next year?

Probably. Yeah, he'll get drafted and, you know, get a nice little bump. But yeah, he may not see the field that much. So if you're Dan Lanning, you know how difficult it is to move on and figure out who your next QB is.

Ain't no guarantees in any of this. Wouldn't make sense to bail after the season unless it is just a complete disaster in the college football playoff. Isn't the writing on the wall for him to just go ahead and leave? I mean, when he signed this deal, leaving here, Georgia, he was a bulldog. He was here, went from linebackers coach to the defensive coordinator.

And they signed him, gave him this deal that goes through 2027. Wouldn't it be time to leave if things are kind of looking on the up and up where you barely win? Wouldn't you leave? Maybe?

No, how would you leave? He's got everything going forward. I mean, he just got a quarterback from the transfer reporter.

Why can't he do it again? He's, well, he has one and Dante Moore that he got from UCLA is kind of his future. So in theory, you had the future quarterback.

You can recruit. I mean, you have Nike behind you, you can get all the resources you need. He'll probably be more compensated or highly compensated in college compared to the NFL. He's got a good, if I was him, I would stay. If he goes to the NFL, he gets fired and tossed around like everybody else. He has full control at Oregon. No one's telling him what to do. There's no Jerry Jones. There's no GM. There's no owner in his ear. He is the man at Oregon. And that's, you got the power, you have the success right now. He seems to be happy. Why change that?

It's hushay. Yeah. It's a matter of being in stasis for all the reasons that you said. But I think if you want to win a national championship, I think nowadays with all the parody that we have and all these teams and soon to be expanded playoff, I don't think there's any guarantee that Oregon, you know, post Dylan Gabriel, that things are just going to work out because he got a quarterback out of the portal.

I think all of the other reasons make all the sense in the world, but who's to say that they're just going to sit at the top of number one. I'm not going to give him, you know, Mike Norvell and put him in that situation. But look at what happened down in Florida State where Travis went down. And obviously now he was drafted late by the New York Jets. You think you have a QB. It doesn't work out.

And I don't think anything could be as worse or as bad as the Florida State disaster. But there's no guarantees once you move that quarterback out of the building. But you are right. If he wants to make money and be comfortable and be the guy. Yeah, because the NFL, it is.

It's volatile. There is no no guarantee that he moves on to the league and that he has a respect. And especially really given if he doesn't win a championship. It's one thing to be Harbaugh, win a championship in Michigan, already have coached in the NFL, already had success and then flip back over. Dan Lanning would definitely be taking a risk if he decided to leave. But let's be clear.

He has said multiple times, A, he didn't want to move even from Oregon down to Tuscaloosa to take the Alabama job. And last November, Dan Lanning was telling everybody, I ain't trying to leave here. I don't want to go nowhere. My name and our program would never be in the topic of conversation for another school if we didn't have something here that everybody else wanted. And the reason we have something here that everybody else wants, that's because of what our players, our coaches, the support that exists here and we're going to have created.

I think I've been really, really clear here since day one. And everything I want exists right here. I'm not going anywhere. There's zero chance that I would be coaching somewhere else. I've got unfinished business here. There's a lot that I want to accomplish here at Oregon.

My number one priority is being elite here at Oregon. Oh, not bad for a 38 year old guy. Not bad.

Not bad. You know, you might you make a good point. He might go to the NFL. It is so volatile in the league. Right. Like, and the owners are bad. It really and the NFL, how much of it really boils down to ownership? Like if you don't have a good owner, you could hit the skids and just be there forever.

I mean, we see it with our own eyes. We see quarterbacks get eaten alive by bad ownership. We see coaches get eaten alive by bad ownership.

And unless it was a great situation. Yeah, I guess it's just stay in Oregon. I mean, you look at your point, some of the jobs that are open, right? Like if you're Dan Lanning, do you want to leave Oregon for the Jets, the Jags, the Jags, the Cowboys, the Giants, the Raiders? Like you look around. I mean, we could keep going on and on.

No, every job that could be open. It's like you're looking, oh, my God, bad owner, bad GM roster stinks like right. They all move on very quickly. Like the Giants fire Brian Deball. That's what, five coaches in like 10 years. Do you think the Giants will fire him?

No, I do not. But he's on the hot seat already. They're talking about it. I think the Giants and he will get fired because I think they get rid of Joe Shane before they get rid of him. Well, maybe not. No, because Joe Shane did it. They got to let the two of them live with a quarterback that they bring in.

No, wouldn't you say? I agree. But also we've seen John Mara have a quick trigger and what each of the last two coaching regimes have gotten fired after two years. Like, I know they're now on year three, so they've already made it a little bit longer than that. But like, like even what was supposed to be right, a stable model franchise and the Giants right now is a complete disaster. Yeah.

But you you have to let and I get it. They were kind of backed into a corner and maybe Mara supported it. Forty million dollars. They won that stupid playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings and they had to pay the guy. They had to. There was no way even just because of the fan base, whether it was smart or stupid, I thought it was stupid. And I got the fact that they had no choice. The fact that they had to pay him, Mickey, that's what cooked them. They would have been able to move along and go injury prone quarterback. And now you can't do nothing with us. And yeah, maybe we keep Saquon, but this bum, we got to get out of here.

They were painted into a corner. And I think now it is quite apparent. Joe Shanker, man, I pick him. Dave Gettleman did like he did it. And I had to pay him because you told me to pay him and because the fans would have been mad.

So you need to let me get a guy that I want. But they will probably both survive. I'm with you. I agree. But it is like they like it. They like when you talk hot seat, right, their names do come up. It's not exactly like it's a foregone conclusion. They are back. I know. You know, you've already had John Mara give a vote of confidence, which I mean, how many times have we heard a vote of confidence go the other way?

Most times I'm with you. I think when push comes to shove, they will be both back. They'll have a chance to get their own quarterback and go from there.

I think that's the right move. I think they both deserve that. But again, the Giants, to your point, were forced to pay Daniel Jones because of really one game in one season. And it almost could cost them their job. And if you're Dan Lanning, maybe Brian Debo won't get fired and he'll survive. But you look at that situation alone and just say, well, he's on the hot seat or his job is being talked about in part because they kind of had to do something that maybe they didn't really want to do, but had really also no other choice to do. And that one guy could ultimately cost you your job when you could just sit where you are, recruit every big talent out of high school. The West Coast, take everybody off the West Coast.

You have unlimited funds from Phil Knight and just win games like you've been doing. Yeah, you're right. You might. Yeah.

Good on him. Might stay. You should. Hickey, you changed my mind. All right.

What a man. Good idea. Because these NFL owners are trash. Hey, let's listen. Dan Arlovski, Dan Arlovski, former quarterback, was talking about this on the next round and he was asked if Dan Lanning could be a good NFL head coach. Listen to this. Yeah, I think so. You know, I'm always cautious. College coaches going, you know, especially college coaches that may not have an NFL background in any way.

I don't know. Dan's been in the NFL. I remember being with Dan and sitting with him when calling Georgia games.

And I remember talking about a play scheme that they had done versus I forget who it was. And I asked him about it in a smile on his face. And we talked football for like 20 minutes, 30 minutes. And him walking out and me going to my play by play guy, Bob O'Shaughnessy. And I'd be like, and I'm just saying that dude's going to be head coach in two years and he's going to be really good.

So I think so. I don't know Dan well enough to say totally. But there's a lot of qualities about him you love. Yeah, to Hickey's point, stay away from the trolls. Stay away from the bad owners. Probably stay. Unless, unless he wins a national championship. And even if he does, why do you want to win a championship? And then, like Hickey said, go coach for the Jags.

Not, not, not the best. It's the JR Sportbree Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to take a break. When we come back on the other side, we're going to talk about another guy who might be moving on from college to the league, except for this guy has extensive history in the NFL. His name is Deion Sanders. We're going to have a chat on the other side of the break with Brian Howell, who covers all things buffaloes for the Boulder Daily Camera. It's the JR Sportbree Show on the Infinity Sports Network. That conversation comes up next. You're listening to the JR Sportbree.

It is the JR Sportbree Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Yeah, we're going to go to the mountains. We're going to go to Boulder, one of the most beautiful places in the entire country. And we're going to have a chat with Brian Howell, who covers the Colorado buffaloes for the Boulder Daily Camera. Brian, how are you? I'm doing well. How are you doing? I'm very well.

Thank you for taking the time to join us. Colorado buffaloes have a record of seven and two, much different than what we saw at the beginning, or I guess at the end of last year. What's the overall vibe and expectation for this team the rest of the way, especially given the fact that they're competing for a playoff spot? Yeah, that's the expectation at this point. And they see it right out there in front of them. And they know that it's very possible if they keep playing the way they are, that they can get there. So, you know, the vibe is just very business-like. You know, they're excited, but they haven't done anything yet. And they're just going for that playoff.

Do you feel a different sense? The way they started last year, there was so much Hollywood that ended up in Boulder. I mean, we saw Dwayne The Rock Johnson popping up at games. And this year it seems more about business, especially given the fact that they turned over this roster very quick. Is there just a different element of how they are approaching things publicly?

Yeah, I think so. I mean, you still have, you know, the celebrities that will show up pre-game and things like that, but it's not quite like it was last year. And there's certainly more to this team than there was last year. You know, they've brought in a lot of different pieces through the transfer portal that just make them more of a complete football team and more of a complete coaching staff, honestly, to where they just kind of go out and play football and handle their business. Brian Howell is joining us from the Boulder Daily Camera. When you talk about the players that are on the field, and let's get to Brad Stacks, and I want to get back to the coaches. We see both Travis Hunter and Chidor Sanders.

They're both at the top of the list when it comes down to Heisman. Do you think they're going to rip votes away from each other? How do you think this is going to work out? You know, I think in a lot of cases you'll see that. I don't know if that'll happen with this. I think Travis is such a different type of player that, you know, I don't think Chidor is going to take votes away from Travis. I think Travis could take votes away from Chidor maybe, but I think Travis is so different that people are just looking at him in a different way. I think, honestly, Chidor is probably earning more votes as the season goes on and if they keep winning and if they can get themselves into that playoffs and potentially, you know, that top 10 area, I think that he could find himself in New York as well, but it's kind of a unique spot.

It's not your traditional, you know, like 2016 we saw Baker Mayfield and DeeDee Westbrook from Oklahoma were both finalists, but that was the traditional quarterback receiver duo. This is not that because Travis has the defense element too. Well, we see him play every snap on defense. We see him play all these snaps on offense and I look at him, I go, how the hell is this guy not tired? I want his stamina. I want his energy just to walk down the street.

What don't we see? Like I see him on Saturday, but what don't we see about his preparation? Well, the other thing too is then you see the videos they put out and he's dancing in the locker room with everybody with just as much energy as anybody else. So he's got all that energy after 170 snaps, but yeah, with the preparation he doesn't practice every day. He usually takes a day or two off during the week to kind of rest the body and he does a lot of things on his own to kind of, you know, stretch and get treatment and things like that and there's a lot of things they do. They basically give him his rest during the week and you'll see with the team in pads like on a Tuesday or Wednesday, he's kind of walking around and just kind of doing the thing and lending some advice to different players in his groups, but that's where he takes his breath. His rest is those two days. You know, that helps him on Saturday.

Brian Howell is here from the Boulder Daily Camera. What do you think, or where do you think he's best situated in the NFL? Are we talking about someone who is playing defense and has packages on offense? Is he strictly offense, but let's throw him in there and nickel?

What are your thoughts? Well, I think he can do either one. I think what I would do if I was an NFL team is I would make him a corner who plays offense and I wouldn't play him.

Maybe I would have done it. I think to me receiver would be his number two position. I don't know if I play him every play, but I think I would want him on the field every play a corner and then have some packages and things like that on offense. He can dominate on both ends, but I would not want to take him off the field at corners.

I think that shutdown corner is so important in the NFL that it changes the defense when you have that. Well, when we look at what Colorado has the rest of this way, they got three games left, Utah, Kansas, Oklahoma State. They're seven and two. We got a lot of seven and two teams that are operating in the Big 12 right now. We know BYU is undefeated at nine and 0. What do you think is going to happen with Colorado? Are you favoring them to get into the playoff? Are they going to have to win out the Big 12, win the championship? How do you think they can get into the playoff?

What do you think is most likely? Yeah, I think they probably have to win out and win the Big 12. I think the only scenario I could see would be, you know, first of all, they have to win every game the rest of the way in the regular season. So if they get into that Big 12 title game and let's say BYU has run the table as well and now BYU is a top five or four team and CU is up to 10 in the CFP rankings, then it's a field goal game and they lose it. I could see the committee keeping Colorado in there like in that 12 range. I think they would love to have Colorado in there, you know, for the ratings and all that. I think they'll do what they can to get Colorado in there. But yeah, if they get to the title game, they get blown out, it'd be hard to keep them in there.

But if it's a close game and all they're doing is losing by a field goal to a top five team, you might be able to keep them in there. Well Brian, one thing we know for sure, next season there will be no Chidor, there will be no Travis Hunter, they will be on NFL rosters. What do you think this means for Dion? We have heard for the better part of a year that he's not built to coach in the NFL with these men who don't want to play.

What does this mean? Do you think he's sticking around? Is he just blowing smoke up everybody's behind? Is he changing his mind?

What do you think is really going to happen? Well I don't think it's not that he's not built for the NFL. I think he just doesn't want to. He's been very consistent going back to, I remember the 60 Minutes segment when he was at Jackson State, he said I do not ever want to coach in the NFL.

He's been very consistent with that. He's also said he's not going to follow his sons into the NFL, that that's not how he operates. And so I really don't think that he'll be an NFL coach.

There's some talk I guess that Stephen A. brought it up the other day and other guys brought it up that the Cowboys should tank and draft Chidor and hire Dion, but I don't think he wants that. I think he would rather stay in college. He loves working with young players and influencing them and trying to mold them for their futures and so I think if he's coaching it's going to be in college football. Well Brian, you say college football. Do you think that'll be Colorado or do you think there might be some other pastures he might be taking a look at? I think it'd be Colorado. I honestly think that he'll retire as a coach at Colorado and it may be after this season, it may be three years down the road.

I don't know when it'll be but I think he would retire at Colorado. Okay Brian Howell is here with us from the Boulder Daily Camera. You talk about how Dion has changed things up through the transfer portal and then some of his coaching staff as well.

I mean I look at it kind of wild. He brings in Pat Shurmur. He brings in as a defensive line coach.

He's bringing in legends from Tampa Bay. How has he rounded out that coaching staff and made a difference? Yeah, it's really interesting to see how it's come together because it's kind of a collection of some veteran coaches like a Pat Shurmur and then you got a young DC Robert Livingston who had never called the defense and been a coordinator before this year and that defense is phenomenal right now especially the improvement they made and then you've got a lot of guys that are sort of young coaches that haven't been lifelong coaches at this point like Damian Lewis, the defensive line coach who spent a decade in the NFL. He's been coaching with the Seahawks the last few years.

Warren Sapp as a GA, he had never coached anything until he got to Colorado this year and then you have like Phil Loadhole who was an eight year, eight or nine years with the Vikings as a tackle and this is his first you know full-time coaching job and he's doing a really nice job with the offensive line so they've just got kind of a nice collection of guys that that are veterans and also some younger coaches that are that bring some energy and some NFL experience. How has the reception been from Deion here? We saw what fell down last year, a lot of pressure, there's a turnaround. Has he been embraced? Has the community been like oh man this is great like is everybody just along for the rod while it's here? Well I think it's a little of both I mean he's definitely been embraced you know the people love him here especially now they're winning. He brought some energy here I mean it was pretty apathetic around here during 2022. I mean there was no energy around this program and this fan base so he's brought a lot of energy and excitement back. People love it. I think maybe there was a little bit of that being tempered after four and eight last year but the way this season's gone people are all in there excited about it having fun.

And without a shadow of a doubt a last question for you Brian. What do you think is going to happen here with this team the rest of the way? What should we expect? Well they're really good I mean they're playing with a lot of confidence they're getting better as the season goes along. I really think that they're going to run the table in the regular season get to the Big 12 title game.

I would imagine they'll face BYU and that's a really good BYU team but I think the Buffs are capable of winning it and getting in the college football playoff. Okay hey let's see what happens Brian thank you so much for the time. Where can people follow you and your work with the Boulder Daily Camera? Yeah go to BuffZone.com and then on Twitter at Brian Howell 33. Hey Brian thank you so much enjoy the rest of the ride okay?

Thank you appreciate it. No doubt about it that Brian Howell from the Boulder Daily Camera says that Dion is likely to pretty much retire as head coach of the Buffalos. Might walk away might be a couple of years might be at the end of the season well damn are we going to find out sooner than later. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't go into the NFL for the same reasons that we discussed in the last break or last hour I should say when it came down to Dan Lanning. It's a different beast it's a different animal it comes with different stress let's also keep in mind and this isn't talked about a lot you know Dion has had his own health issues this man almost lost his leg you know just a couple of years ago definitely had to lose some toes in the process does he want that stress let's also think about when you have some of the greatest some of the greatest players of all time it doesn't matter what the sport is how many of those players have successfully transitioned over being or excuse me into being coaches especially at the highest level I think it's one thing for Dion to impart his wisdom and what he's learned and what he knows to younger players at high school which he's done to college at what he's done but not a grown-ass man I'm not so sure it's the JR sport re-show here with you on the infinity sports network 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27 that's 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27 we're going to take a break when we come back you know let's hear what Dion had to say out of his own mouth there's some other individuals who have some opinions on what he should do or what might happen and then how about this as well hey Washington the commanders are getting ready to take on the Philadelphia Eagles it is Thursday night football both teams are trying to get a good old hold on the NFC East we'll get into that and more you're listening to the JR sport brief it's the JR sport re-show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27 that's 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27 thank you to Brian Howell for joining us to talk some Colorado Buffalo's football and the last break courtesy of the Boulder Daily camera he thinks Dion is is gonna stick around in Colorado or is at least not going to the NFL and you you hear his reasons then it certainly makes sense and this is the same reasons that Dion has stated it's like who wants to deal with these these grown-ass lazy-ass NFL players like I can have more of an impact on the college life the college level and so yeah I mean I wouldn't I could only see him coaching his son as Brian brought up he said that that's not in me to go ahead and just follow my kids around and I think also this like I said this doesn't get mentioned a lot when you think about some of his recent health issues where he's had toes amputated had the threat of his leg amputated Dion I think will be perfectly fine back on television he can find the spotlight I think the spotlight doesn't move from him at all 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27 that's 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27 the dependable player of the week is sponsored by depend and the prostate cancer foundation reminding you that health is a long game and screening for prostate cancer is easier than ever you can learn more at depend.com last night dependable it was Giannis Atetokounmpo he lost his mind setting an NBA season high mark with 59 points the Bucks they beat the Pistons 127 to 120 in overtime Giannis he outscored Detroit all by himself in overtime 11 to 9 the Greek freak he helped Milwaukee secure their fourth win of the season and no Damian Lillard as he has been out in the concussion protocol 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27 Josh is here from Alabama you on the JR sport re-show what's up Josh? Hey JR I heard you talking to the guy earlier about would Travis Hunter take a vote from Chidor I think it's a quarterback trophy nowadays what do you say? Well yeah I mean historically it's thank you Josh for calling from Alabama historically yes it's it's been a a quarterback trophy but we haven't seen a player come along like Travis Hunter I would say in like forever someone who plays every play on offense and defense they didn't even throw the ball his way on defense this past weekend against Texas Tech they were throwing tortillas they didn't throw the ball his way and when they did he intercepted the ball and you know officials they they took the play away it didn't count I mean he's different I mean we could run through all the quarterbacks but if you think about the odds of who's going to walk away with these with the the Heisman this year you can't be all that enthusiastic I mean he's over here lobbying for himself instead of Ashton Jensey to go out there and win it. Hickey you think you think Travis is going to win? Heisman? I don't in part because like I don't I hate this logic but it has reigned true you need to have a Heisman moment big game everybody's watching how do you perform and I think what you just said kind of takes that away of he's so good at corner teams don't look his way they just ignore him it's the ultimate compliment that I'm going to try you but I think when it comes to garnering votes I think that hurts his case. Yeah I think and if he gets close I don't even think at this point he has to break the record I think it's going to go to Jensey that's it he's going to be the first running back I think to win the award since Derrick Henry did it almost 10 years ago I don't think any of the other the quarterbacks have you know separated themselves are we going to look at Cam Ward versus what he's doing in the ACC are we going to look at Chador what he's doing in the Big 12 I think the easiest choice is Jensey I think he's going to end up with it.

That's also the unfair nature of the award is now all of a sudden with one loss from Miami and their playoff hopes in doubt Cam Ward who's the offense has not been the problem at all for Miami right now right he's the team he is the team and now all of a sudden his Heisman hopes have been hurt sure he didn't play great against Georgia Tech but like he's been that exact offense and that team and the best quarterback statistically and just watching him every Saturday yet one loss and now all of a sudden that could end his hopes even though it wasn't his fault it's crazy it's kind of you know the award feels a little ridiculous at times but I still think he's alive for it. Yeah this is what FanDuel says right now when you think about the odds you got Jensey, Dylan Gabriel, Travis Hunter. That's really that's the top three? Yes. Wow. Yeah. Cam Ward not even in the top three. Nope. Interesting.

Nope. Miami quarterback Cam Ward he entered last week as Heisman front runner his odds plummeted following the loss to Georgia Tech even though he threw for 348 yards had three touchdowns with no INTs. Yeah there you have it. It's tough well I mean come on who if the team goes down in Miami if the team goes down of course people are gonna look at him and just go yeah man well you're supposed to light him up you're supposed to light him up like you've been everybody else you're supposed to walk away with a victory that's just the the nature it's just the nature of the beast it sucks but I think they're gonna give it to Jensey. People like something different when you have no quarterback nobody's walking around saying hey I got you some Joe Burrow numbers right now nobody said hey I got 60 touchdowns for you you know here give me the ward. Nobody's done that and so I think it's easy just to by default say hey we got a running back over here who is breaking records we have to give it to him we got to give it to the guy who plays offense and defense and I just think a little bit easier less explaining to do just to give it to the running back who who at times this season has been on pace to catch or pass a Barry Sanders all-time single season rushing leader.

I think that's what's going to happen 855-212-4227. I also mentioned to you you know as we spoke to Brian Howell from the Boulder Daily Camera he's not all that positive that that Deion is going to leave. We also have heard Deion say out of his own mouth I'm not just going to follow my son to the NFL. I want you to take a listen to Adam Schefter he was on get up and he talked about the potential of Deion going back to the NFL and being paired up with his son. The point is that this is just going to be an option that's out there we're not saying it's happening yeah we're saying that this is one of those options that's going to heat up that's going to be in play this off season. Is there a team out there that's in position to get Chidor Sanders that also wants to go and hire Deion Sanders to marry them up together moving forward maybe it'll happen maybe it won't it's damn fun to talk about and think about. Yeah well it's fun it'd be cool if it happened you know Hickey now that we've gone through this and who knows how many NFL teams are going to end up just dumping just getting rid of of their coach we may not have any college coaches moving on to the next level none. And I think now that's part of I think you know NA on the transfer portal working in a good way if you're a college coach where now you again you can stay and still rebuild quicker than ever but also I think it's your point it's a detriment to the NFL of just or not a detriment but a signal to the NFL just right now how broken you know a fourth a third of the league is right now and they just keep running through these coaches like what's the incentive why would you go there to get fired in three years when you don't have a quarterback and you have an impatient owner who doesn't know what the hell he's doing. You know let's think about this and I'm glad I'm glad you said he because he is one of the ultimate examples Adams firing Vrabel last year like there was no reason none whatsoever to fire him just because you didn't I'm pretty sure he went around and he told everybody the truth about the roster he's like what the hell do you want me to do with this team this is what we need and he clashed with an owner who didn't get it and they fired him like if you if you're going to fire Mike Vrabel then what the hell is wrong with you it's really that simple I hope to never experience this in life I'm hickey I've seen and heard some stories and we got thanksgiving coming up I'm pretty sure you heard some of these stories as well you reach a point in life you know you're talking to someone you walk in a room people are used to seeing you guys together and everybody goes well what happened you know well well and then you got what's wrong with you there's something wrong with you like you had a good thing and a good thing is what the hell is your problem like this is what the Tennessee Titans did last year with Mike Vrabel there's nothing wrong with Mike Vrabel there's there's something wrong with him hickey is something you've never experienced before right definitely not I don't know what you're definitely not and nobody's ever looked at you and said what's wrong with you ever never no way good let's try to keep it that way easier said than done okay all right good hickey good so the jr sport brie show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network we're going to take a break when we come back on the other side hey it's thursday night football hey we got the eagles we got washington I'm going to give you a little bit of a preview of what the hell is about to take place in about I don't know the 20 minutes we're going to talk some more college ball we're going to talk some basketball we got mike tyson fighting a sham fight tomorrow it's the jr sport brie show the infinity sports network don't move you
