You don't have to lift a finger at all. We'll be hanging out with you for one more hour. It's been a a busy day in every sense of the word. Busy. Unfortunate. Unfortunately, we lost Pete Rose today at the age of 83 years old.

Unfortunately, we lost Dikembe Mutombo at the age of 58 years old. Busy day on that end. And right now, this moment we have two Monday night football games that are going on. Seattle has finally answered the call in Detroit.

Now the Detroit Lions lead the Seahawks 14 to 7. Meanwhile, down in Miami in what you can call a battle of the uglies, the Tennessee Titans still lead the Dolphins 6 to 3. The Tennessee Titans trying to avoid an 0-3 hole. The Miami Dolphins trying to avoid falling to 1 and 3.

No Tua Tagovailoa, no Skylar Thompson. Tyler Huntley, former backup for the Baltimore Ravens, is at the helm. And let's just say this is ugly because who the hell wants to see field goals?

The answer is nobody. I just told you the Seattle Seahawks got on the board against the Detroit Lions. Detroit leads 14 to 7. How did Seattle get on the board? Well, Kenneth Walker kind of punched the ball in at the goal line to put them up on the board. So all three touchdowns here between Detroit and Seattle, they are all of the rushing variety. Both David Montgomery and Jameer Gibbs have rushing touchdowns for the Detroit Lions. Kenneth Walker just scored 10 minutes to go in the first half to give the Seattle Seahawks some life here. Detroit leads 14 to 7. We'll be hanging out with you for one more hour. If you want to participate in the show, you certainly can. 855-212-4227.

That's 855-212-4227. We also had a very, very big game in Major League Baseball to determine the final wildcard spots, the final two spots in the National League. Winning one game apiece, both the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves move on to the postseason. The Atlanta Braves win the second game with their backs up against the wall against the New York Mets.

They blank them 3 to nothing. The Braves will go on to take on the Milwaukee Brewers and the New York Mets won the first game in dramatic fashion. The Mets beat the Braves 8 to 7 in Game 1 of the doubleheader to cement their spot as they will now go up against the Padres.

This was a hell of a back and forth game. The New York Mets were down 3-0 heading into the eighth. They scored six runs to make it 6-3. Ozzie Albies had a big bases clearing hit to make it 7-6 Braves. The Braves looked like they had all the life. And then Francisco Lindor stepped up to the plate in the ninth inning and did this.

Listen, Mets Radio Network. And New York Mets with that victory guaranteed themselves a playoff spot. The Braves, I told you, they ended up winning the second game. And if the Braves did not win, the Braves were going to spend the rest of the offseason at home and the Arizona Diamondbacks would have made the postseason. The Diamondbacks are on the outside looking in.

We won't see them in action until next year. Francisco Lindor, he spoke to SNY after the game, home of the New York Mets. And he described what the hell was going through his brain, what was going through his mind in that final at bat in that ninth inning. Well, I wanted to get a good pitch to hit and do exactly what Marta did, pass the baton. My guy Iglesias has been probably the best clutch hitter in the game this year. So I wasn't trying to do too much. I was just trying to get Iglesias driving another run. And it worked out and I hit it up in the air.

Yeah, pretty, pretty wild. Hickey, did I miss something? Did I misspeak? The Mets are taking on Milwaukee now? Let's see. Yes, they are taking on the Brewers and the Braves are going out west to face the Padres. Yeah, so the Mets will actually be in action tomorrow at five thirty and we have baseball five thirty Eastern time. You think about some of the other matchups early in the day. Detroit gets things going against Houston. We have Kansas City at Baltimore, the New York Mets at Milwaukee.

And then the late game, Atlanta will go out to San Diego and take on those Padres. Damn, we are tomorrow, by the way, we just had this discussion already. Tomorrow will be October 1st. Wow.

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. Hickey, I remember. I remember what I was doing on July 4th. We have the Peachtree Road race. October, damn. How crazy is that?

It truly does fly right by. What do we do all summer? I don't know what I did. I don't know either. Was I here, I guess, right?

Here, there, everywhere in between. Wow. Wow. Anyway, baseball, baseball postseason starts tomorrow. Today we had NBA media day, had a bunch of players line and saying crazy things. I told you, Ben Simmons was telling everybody that when he's healthy, he's actually good.

I don't know when that is. Matter of fact, let's take a listen to Ben Simmons, the Brooklyn net, who's trying to earn himself a new contract. Listen to this guy. I think people forget, you know, me as a player when I'm healthy. You know, I could play basketball. I'm pretty good, right?

So for me, it's just being consistent with that and stay on top of my body and just get better every day and stay in the gym with these guys. This is equally as crazy. This is wild.

Oh my goodness. Lonzo Ball said he is healthy. Hickey, doesn't he have, he has like a, somebody else's ligament implanted into his leg, right?

He basically has what is it? A new knee? Could call it like from somebody who's healthy, new knee could call it like from somebody else. I mean, not really. They gave him like a transplanted ligament from someone else.

No joke. Lonzo Ball hasn't played since 2022. And in that season, he only played 35 games. Lonzo Ball hasn't really played in almost two, three seasons. Like he's been missing in action.

I don't know what's up with them, them ball jeans, but Lamello hasn't been doing all that well either. But Lonzo is just done. He's also entering into a contract year. He opted into his $21 million final season.

Of course he would. Why, why would you turn down 21 mil? Lonzo Ball actually said he's going to be ready to go. Listen to this. Feeling good, man. Happy to be here. Blessed to be here for sure, first and foremost. And happy to see y'all again. I know it's been a minute, but I'm looking forward to camp. Very good to hear you started.

How does this map out? I mean, is there a minute restrictions? Is there, you know, no back to backs? I mean, how's this thing going to look as we kind of get towards the start of the season and you wanting to be ready to go on hopefully next season? Yeah, I mean, it's going to be an ongoing process, obviously.

You know, this is something that no one has really came back from. So I'll be the first, but we had a couple of conversations about it so far. Obviously back to backs are off the table right now. Definitely will be administration.

We don't have a set number yet, but there will be one, but I'm just going to be constant communication throughout the years because this is a sort of new project, if you will, that we all have to get through together. Man, you, you have to hold his hand through this process. He has to come off of the bench in limited time and limited minutes. This, this has to be, I don't want to call it a, like a red shirt type year, but he got to, you got to quote unquote, walk the dog.

You got to take your time. He has to come off of the bench and I know he's going to want a new contract. This not going to be all that amazing. Hopefully he doesn't, you know, become pushy for them to do that. Or maybe he even gets traded. It's going to be risky for any team that brings him on. But if he can show that, Hey, I can make it through the beginning part of a season, maybe, maybe Lonzo gets sent to, to another team. They did bring on Josh giddy.

Come on now. Josh giddy is going to be running that team. Kobe white isn't going anywhere.

We saw him step his game up. Zach Levine is another dude who can never stay healthy, I guess if he's available. So I don't see too much Lonzo ball will be the backup point guard, probably try to show him off.

Maybe they can ship him somewhere. If there's a sucker in the saying, Hey, I need a point guard. He can, you know, pick up some minutes for us, but this is just, uh, uh, you think, uh, Lonzo is going to have a good year. No, no, 10 minutes, 15 minutes a game. Come on back up point guard. Still trying. I mean, learn how, I mean, like you said, he's been out for so long.

It's like, it's still kind of maybe not writing or like riding a bike exactly, but it's almost kind of relearn a few skills. I'm sure. Well, I mean, his body, you got a whole new body. That's just, that's more concerning. Sheesh. Who's sorry about that.

Oh man. I can't think of it. There's another guy who's been missing and now he stinks.

Oh, I think it might be another, Oh, Deshaun Watson. No, right. Different reasons. Well, different reasons. Very different. But Deshaun Watson looks like he's forgot how to, you know, play quarterback.

And that seems sucks. Did you see that last? Did you see that yesterday?

Anything from him? Oh, I did. I saw way too much actually that game. You, well, at least they, they picked up a win. I mean, it, it took, it took the Raiders, but I don't know.

Maybe you're, you're too far away from the game. You spend years away and you lose it. What does this, what do they say? You use it or you lose it.

That's, that's pretty much the case here. I hope it's not the case when it comes down to, uh, to Lonzo ball and the Browns. Well, he took on the Raiders and how you get beat by the Raiders.

I don't know. You got Gardner Minshew out there. Gardner Minshew threw for 130 yards. They didn't have the Vontae Adams. They didn't have Max Crosby. And they, they still lost. There's some bum-ass teams we got out here. The Jacksonville Jaguars are bums as well.

Trevor Lawrence had two touchdowns and they still lost to the Texans, 24 to 20. Hickey, who's getting fired first? Name somebody. Go ahead.

Oh, I mean, I feel like Sirianni is probably going to get fired first, but Peterson may be a close second. Oh, Doug, Doug. Yeah.

He was asked about his, uh, his job security and Doug was, he was kind of, kind of perplexed by the question. Listen to this. My status, I mean, no, I mean, it's kind of a strange question, but okay. Yeah.

Is it really that strange? The team sucks right now. The Jacksonville Jaguars are 0-4. They are paying a quarterback $55 million. Sean Conn is going to have no hair by the time this season is done.

He's like, I'm spending $55 million on this. They just gave Josh Hans Allen the big old contract too. I think he got hurt.

This is just, this is bad all the way around. So if Doug Peterson is not concerned with his own status, well, what about the offensive coordinator? Are you going to take the plate calling away from press Taylor? Tell me Doug.

For what? I thought he called a great game. We as coaches, we can't make, we can't go out there and make the plays right. It's a two-way street. So, you know, you guys can sit here and point the finger all you want and that's fine. Point it right at me.

I can take it. Well, that's why they asked you, that's why they asked you if you think you're going to get fired, man. What are you doing? Yeah, they don't know.

They don't know how to answer these questions. Trevor Lawrence, he don't have to worry about nothing. There's no firing him.

This guy's making $55 million every single year. Trevor Lawrence gave a boring ass answer. How are you going to fix things?

Trevor, tell me. So it's frustrating. It's hard, but you know, you have some adversity.

You got to get through it, get to the other side of it and it'll help you in the long run. And that's what we're preaching as a team is just, it's frustrating. It's not going our way. And we weren't able to find a way to win this game. We had some mistakes out there.

Yeah, but we just have to stay together. No, there's no turning this season around. This season is lost. This season is in the toilet. The Jacksonville Jaguars are a joke. Everything surrounding them stinks.

Waste of time. Doug Peterson will get the boot. Nick Sirianni will get the boot. Rob Salah of the New York Jets will get the boot.

Hickey, when they fire Rob Salah, who delivers the news? Aaron Rodgers? Oh, definitely. Definitely. Come to my office?

Yeah, you come see me. Oh my goodness. What a joke the New York Jets are. Just terrible.

Pretty hilarious. Yesterday, Rob Salah, after all of the false start penalties, they had about 13 penalties. Rob Salah was just like, oh yeah, you know what?

Maybe Aaron Rodgers at the line of scrimmage. Maybe he's yelling too much and maybe his cadence is off. Maybe we need to kind of simplify things.

Listen to what Rob Salah said. We got to figure it out. Whether or not we're good enough to handle all the, or ready to handle all the cadence.

Cadence had not been an issue all camp. Felt like our operation had been operating pretty good. Obviously, today it took us a major step back. Oh yeah, New York Jets. How do you lose to the Denver Broncos? Lose to the Broncos. Can't even score a touchdown. Pathetic.

Ten to nine, a loss in the rain. By the way, Aaron Rodgers disagreed with Rob Salah. What a shock.

Listen to what Aaron Rodgers said after the game in response to what you just heard. Been a weapon. We use it every day in practice. We don't, you know, we rarely have a false start and they have, I don't know, five today. It seemed like four or five. Yeah, it's, it seems like an outlier.

I don't know if we need to make mass changes based on, you know, kind of an outlier game. Oh, ouch. I know Rob Salah was sitting in his office watching that and sweating bullets. Like I hope Aaron doesn't come. I hope Aaron doesn't come.

Hope Aaron doesn't come. But then when Rob Salah spoke to the media today, he changed his mind. He agreed with Aaron Rodgers.

Of course he did. Yesterday I was, I was mentioning operation. We're always going to push the envelope of cadence always. But, um, but with regards to operation, uh, you know, getting in and out of the huddle, getting to the line of scrimmage, the communication that's being had, we're, uh, those are all things that we can continue to look at and clean up. But from a cadence standpoint, that's part of, uh, what makes us who we are.

And, uh, and we're going to continue to always push, uh, push the envelope on that. Hey, you think Aaron Rodgers didn't even have to send him a text message. Nothing, right? It's Rob Salah knows I just got to fall in line to whatever he wants. I was going to ask you, do you think Rogers said anything?

Joe Douglas had something. Woody Johnson said something, or maybe a solid intuition. You said, Hmm, that's an interesting answer.

Maybe I'll fall. Like you said, fall in line here and take back what I said. Rob Salah saw the press conference just like all of us. And he said, well, Aaron Rodgers doesn't think it's a problem. It's not a problem. Not a problem.

Well, I guess my answer was wrong. I'm going to change that tomorrow. Just like we, I don't think we'll ever see Rob Salah try to give Aaron Rodgers a hug. You know, like I don't care what they joked about and said that body length, it shows you the power dynamic.

Just, just, just flattened period. It shows you who has the power that Aaron Rodgers felt it enough to say, Hey, okay, my head coach, well, I'm just going to shove them off. You don't do that to someone you respect.

You don't show them up in that regard. Joke, no joke. And so day by day, week to week, whether it's a win or whether it's a loss, Rob Salah just continues to lose more and more power with the jets. It's apparent every week.

Aaron Rodgers is the coach and Rob Salah may not be the coach after this season. If they don't get it together, it's a very bad, very bad in New York. I don't care what's going on. It's the JR sport reshow here with you on the infinity sports network. We're going to take a break. When we come back on the other side, I want to tell you about the two time champions, the Kansas city chiefs, because things might have gotten bad for them.

Well, I'll tell you why and what happened on the other side. You're listening to the JR sport brief. This portion of the show is brought to you by Ethos life, the easy way to get life insurance in 10 minutes, up to $2 million in coverage with no medical exam. And just a few health questions.

Right before we went to break, we talked about just injuries and hurt individuals. So we really ran the gamut, bad teams, Jacksonville Jaguars, the Browns. Where else did we go? Bad bodies, Lonzo ball, Ben Simmons.

And then how about this? We got a little bit of an update for you as well. When it comes to Monday night football, the Detroit lions have answered back again against Seattle heading into halftime. The Detroit lions currently lead 21 to 7, 21 to 7, less than two minutes left in the game. Seattle has the ball trying to put some points up on the board. Jameer Gibbs with another rushing touchdown. That's two rushing touchdowns for Jameer Gibbs and the lions currently lead Seattle heading into halftime 21 to 7 as Seattle is trying to, well, trying to put some points up, trying to keep this game within reach.

Meanwhile, coming out of halftime. Meanwhile, we have the Titans and dolphins having what I like to call an ugly fest. The Titans currently lead nine to three. Mason Rudolph has taken over in this game in place of Will Levis.

Will Levis tried to dive for some extra yards to pick up a first down and dived himself, dove himself into a shoulder injury. So Mason Rudolph has taken over here nine to three Tennessee leads Miami. Let's also keep in mind on the Miami side, no Tua Tonga Veloa, no Skylar Thompson.

On their side, Tyler Huntley makes his first start for the Dolphins. Man, Hickey, if you had tickets to this game in Miami, would you go tonight? Hell no. That is, I mean, you talk about this. Will this be the worst quarterback match up we see this season? Uh, no. I think by the time we get to the end of year, it could be like, it could be worse. She has some bum backups out there somewhere, right? I mean, this is pretty bad.

Tyler Huntley just came to Miami, what, two hours ago and Mason Rudolph. Okay. Yeah.

I hope you don't get, I mean, you're probably right, but I can't even imagine what that quarterback matchup would look like. Yeah. Well, I mean, for what it is right now, trying to survey the stands, it looks like the lower bowl is filled.

Now what it looks like upstairs, they may not want to show that for a reason. Cameras are smart. Yeah.

I think, uh, they, they, they know where the money is made. Let's give people the illusion that people are here. Uh, we'll, we'll see what happens. Uh, speaking of an illusion, this is not a joke.

It is not an illusion. Uh, unfortunately, and this really stinks. The Kansas city chiefs beat the charges yesterday, had a chance to watch most of that game. They beat him 17 to 10. The good news is that Travis Kelce woke up. Man had 89 yards receiving. Uh, the bad news is that Patrick Mahomes threw an interception and then going out there and trying to tackle. Now moving from offense to defense, he accidentally tackled his own guy, ran into the knee of Rashid rice and Rashid rice. It is not official.

It hasn't been confirmed. It hasn't been confirmed today, but there is a massive fear that he has torn the ACL and his knee. He was the leading receiver last year for the Kansas city chiefs. Uh, he was a big part of the offense this year, so much so that people were wondering where, where Kelce was when Rashid rice was getting all of the targets.

And now that's going to be less of a problem. They're saying he's out indefinitely right now, but the reality is he is probably out for the rest of this season and not good. The Kansas city chiefs, you think about the offense from last year and people are trying to figure out where the help is going to come from. And that's going to be a big question now because let's be real Xavier worthy. He had a big old touchdown yesterday. You know, is he going to grow into that much of a threat where the chiefs can still go out and win a super bowl? You would think so. You would hope so. Uh, but there's no, no guarantees of it.

It's kind of more scary. Uh, when you think about it, they'll be fine because they have the best quarterback in the entire NFL, but I would not be shocked. I wouldn't be surprised if they somehow, some way were able to go out there and pick up a wide receiver. I'm not saying they're going to get Devante Adams or that the Raiders are going to wake up and move him.

Uh, but I'd be shocked, shocked if the Kansas city chiefs don't find a little bit of help somewhere else. A matter of fact, Patrick Mahomes, he says he feels guilty that he threw the interception and he ran into his guy and now he's out. Obviously, uh, the corner made a good play. I was trying to fire to travel on his body. Um, I overthrew him a little bit, um, turned the ball over and then, um, I thought she really made a good play. I was trying to tackle the guy and obviously rolled up on him. Um, but, uh, if I just don't turn the ball over and do that, that never happens.

So you just gotta try to get better at that. Oh, well too late now. I can't bring him back. Can't bring him back.

Travis Kelsey woke up. People have been defending this guy all week, specifically Andy Reed. He's not out of shape.

He's not partying. He's still in the best shape that he's been. His speed is still fine. They're just doubling him. Andy Reed bigged up his tight end. They played quite a little bit of zone out there and Kelsey did a nice job of just getting in windows. And then when they did play man, he was able to do a nice shot there.

There wasn't as much double team as maybe seen or settling on them as much as he's seen. So, um, he did very good. Okay.

All right. Let's see what he does next. Next up for the Kansas city chiefs. They got the saints Monday night football. I mean, I'm going to take, I'm going to take the chiefs over to saints. I saw what them saints did against the Falcons yesterday. Couldn't couldn't hold on.

Couldn't finish them off. Falcons are another team. They don't know what a touchdown is. Couldn't score a touchdown by accident. Well, yeah.

Hickey, I didn't forget. What the hell is going on with the Colts? Anthony Richardson. He's not healthy, right?

Sounds normal. Um, you may be right in terms of the number of games Joe Flacco starts this year. So this is, that was start number eight for Anthony Richardson. Right.

And he's only been able to finish half of those games. Is that correct? That is correct. Okay.

Yep. And what's up with, is Stike and trying to kill him on purpose? Like what's going on? I don't mind him. Like if he's out there, I don't mind him running him.

Honestly. I think if you're strange second, you said he's back in the field. He's good enough to run the ball. I'm not going to kill him for that second run. Um, where he could pulled up and was not healthy.

Why is it? But why is he, I mean, who's, we saw two a time of a lower go out when his head was just cooked and just got destroyed. I know it was a game apart, but I mean, I don't know. How's that guy? He's not a linebacker. He's not a running back out. He plays like one.

That's part of the problem. We've been saying the S word a lot, a slide and he's not listening. I thought you were going to say stupid. Well, reckless. I'm not playing quarterback.

So I can't call him stupid, but maybe I don't know. Just get down. Just get down.

It's not that hard. He's a man's man. Don't be a man's man. I just need a man. I don't need a man's man. I just need a man that is healthy, a healthy man.

That's all I'm looking for. A healthy man. Well, you got one. He's almost 40 years old. His name is Joe Flacco.

Still got it. He's smart enough not to run anywhere. I'll tell you that much that he is.

Yep. He'll work for you all the way to the post season as a wildcard. Okay. And then back to find another backup quarterback as he signs for a big time deal. Again, he tells his kids, I'll be back in a few months.

Just let daddy make some money. I'll be back. Okay. Just this house you live in is because of me.

Just take, take your time. And Joe Flacco, we're having to run things for the, the Indianapolis Colts. It's the JR sport pre-show here with you on the infinity sports network. I forget them for a second. I believe that the chiefs are going to be fine. They're going to, they're going to get their hands on a wide receiver somewhere.

Somebody serviceable who can help them out. We're going to take a break. When we come back on the other side, kind of wrap things up, share with you a few things that took place this day in sports history.

Unfortunately, we're going to wrap up some of the unfortunate things that took place today of the passings of Pete Rose and then also Dikembe Mutombo. You're listening to the JR sport brief, the JR sport pre-show here with you on the infinity sports network. I need you to think O'Reilly auto parts for all of your car care needs.

You're guaranteed low prices and excellent customer service from the professional parts people at O'Reilly auto parts. Tennessee Titans look like they're trying to do a little bit of something. Maybe we might finally see a touchdown.

Tony Pollard with a 41 yard rush. Tennessee leads Miami nine to six. Tennessee Titans are still winless on the season at 0-3. Miami Dolphins with a loss can fall to one and three. No Tua Tonga Velouette quarterback. No Skylar Thompson at quarterback. Meanwhile, at halftime in Detroit, the Lions lead the Seahawks 21 to seven.

It is the JR sport brief show here with you on the infinity sports network. And before we take a look and just share with you again, some reflections on some of the legends that were lost today, Dikembe Mutombo and Pete Rose. You know what? Let's let's go back into history first, because today is Monday, September 30th. The year is 2024. It is the last day of September. We're going to turn the page through October and a few hours. But before we do that, let's go back in time. Back in the days when I was young, I'm not a kid anymore, but some days I sit and wish I was a kid again. It's time for this day in sports history.

See, back in those days, we had radio and you couldn't see anything and it was primitive and lousy and we liked it. On the JR sport brief show. I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass. It is the JR sport brief show here with you on the infinity sports network, September 30th, 2024. Let's go back in time. Let's go back to September 30th, 1972, because a man, another legend by the name of Roberto Clemente, he got his 3000th hit as the Pirates beat the Mets 5 to nothing. Listen to this courtesy of MLB.

It's wild. Only a few months, after that, on New Year's Eve, Roberto Clemente, he passed away that very same year. Only months after that, delivering supplies to victims of the earthquake in Nicaragua. You want to talk about a humanitarian?

We talked about Dikembe. Roberto Clemente was at the top of that list as well. He got his 3000th hit this day in 1972.

Let's fast forward to 1992. September 30th, George Brett. He also got his 3000th hit. Royals beat the Angels four to nothing.

Listen to this. George Brett, the thousand. In Southern California has his 3000th hit.

Pretty amazing. George Brett, he retired after the 93 season. He went into the Hall of Fame in 1999. No pine tar this day in sports history.

September 30th, the year is 2007. Brett Favre, unfortunately, revealed the world that he had Parkinson's last week at a congressional hearing. He threw a touchdown to Greg Jennings. At that point in time, he broke his touchdown record. All time touchdowns at 420. This is touchdown number 421, Dan Marino, courtesy of Fox Sports. Brett Favre, he would finish his career with 508 total touchdowns.

It's kind of crazy. Tom Brady leads everybody, 649. Good luck.

Good luck there. Aaron Rogers. Well, I don't know if he's passing Brett Favre this year. He has 480. Brett Favre has 508. Matthew Stafford on the list as well, 359. Matthew Stafford at number 11.

He's getting ready to pass. Eli Manning, who has 366. Those are a few things that took place this day in sports history. Unfortunately, today is going to go down in sports history as well. We lost two legends. The passing of Pete Rose today at 83 years old, Major League Baseball's hit king, all time leader. And then earlier this morning, we learned that Dikembe Mutombo passed away due to brain cancer at the age of 58 years old. We had this discussion earlier in the show about whether or not Pete Rose would ultimately get into the Hall of Fame.

We don't know. It was only a few months ago back in July that Pete Rose, he was asked via collect media, you know, will he ever get into the hall? Will Rob Manfred ever lift his suspension and his permanent banning? And this is what Pete Rose had to say about that back in July.

Well, you can't turn TV on ESPN without talking about gambling. But it's a lot of money for baseball. And I don't know, Mr. Manfred, whatever changes mine. I would doubt it because I think after you're suspended for 29 years, it's hard to lift his suspension. Not that he may not want to, but just, you know, I think he's probably worried if I get away with it, which I didn't get away with it. I've been suspended 29 years, so he's worried that other players may do it. So will it take a new commissioner?

I mean, it seems like that. I like Bob Manfred. I don't want a new commissioner. He'll come around eventually. He'll come around eventually. He's a good guy. He's a fair guy. That's all I can ask for. I don't pursue it, though.

I don't. He's got enough on his mind to worry about me, you know, taking the band off of me. Well, if Pete Rose is to go into the Hall of Fame, it'll be with him not allowed to see it. And I think he'll get in. Hickey and I talked about this.

I just think it's going to be some years. Also, we learned earlier in the morning about the passing of Dikembe Mutombo, who passed away here in Atlanta. People loved him here in Georgia. And I know he got a whole lot of love back in the Congo, where he built hospitals and schools and was an advocate for for better health care and education. And he's he's just he's the best.

He really was and is the best. And I say it is because the legacy that he left is can help people in perpetuity, like building a hospital. And, you know, a lot of these things don't get talked about.

You know, Arthur Blank here in Atlanta, Georgia, and I talk about it because I'm more familiar with it. You know, he builds and contributes monies and opens up hospitals and doesn't, you know, sit around blabbering about it. And so that's the good thing.

When you can do works that help out other people, there is nothing better. And earlier today, we heard from Joel Embiid and his impact. This is what Joel Embiid had to say about Dikembe. It's a sad day, especially for us Africans, and really the whole world because, you know, other than what is accomplished on the basketball court, I think he was even better off the court.

You know, those are some of the guys. He's one of the guys that I look up to, as far as, you know, having an impact, not just on the, you know, on court, but off the court. He's done a lot of great things. He did a lot of great things, you know, for a lot of people. So I mean, that's, it was a whole lot on the line. So yeah, like I said, it is a sad day.

A sad day. Masai Ujuri, who runs the Toronto Raptors, big time executive also helped build up the Denver Nuggets towards what they were, winning a championship also, with these Toronto Raptors. Masai Ujuri talked personally about the impact of Dikembe Mutombo.

I'm sorry, it's a tough one. I have to say though, that guy, he made us, he made us who we are. That guy is a giant, incredible person. Who are we without Dikembe Mutombo?

Not possible, but really not. I went to Dikembe Mutombo's hometown with him. I went to his hospital. You have no idea what that guy means to the world. Yeah.

Amazing. He was a good dude. I only met him a couple of times, but just seeing him from afar and everybody that he dealt with, and it's, that's a legacy. It's like, what do you leave behind that is bigger than you?

Whether it's the people that are close to you, and if you, you're fortunate enough to have a larger impact and you can, what do you do? So much love to the families of both Pete Rose and Dikembe Mutombo. You've been listening to the JR Sport Reshow here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. We still have these two Monday Night Football games that are ongoing here. In the second half, Lions and Seahawks just opened up. 21 to 7 of the Lions lead the Seahawks and the Tennessee Titans. Spears got a rushing touchdown a few minutes ago. The Tennessee Titans lead the Dolphins 16 to 6. A lot of solitary shots of Tua Tonga Veloa and Tyreek Hill sitting on the sidelines. Obviously, Tua Tonga Veloa unavailable to play, and quite a different dynamic with no Tua and Tyler Huntley at the helm. Mason Rudolph still leading the way here for the Miami Dolphins. Unfortunately, we just talked about the losses of Dikembe Mutombo and Pete Rose earlier in the show. We did have some good news as the New York Mets advanced to the postseason to take on the Milwaukee Brewers and then also the Atlanta Braves. Despite a loss in game one, they're able to get in as well. They will be going out to San Diego to take on the Padres.

Major League Baseball postseason. It starts early tomorrow afternoon, so go ahead and lock in. Tell your boss that quitting time is going to be early. Hickey, wild show, busy show, and I guess we'll see the end of some crap football games to call it a night, huh? Yeah, this show has flown by. It has gone absolutely quick. So much to talk about. Like you said, it's, I guess, maybe not the best ending with these two games being complete snoozers, but it's what you get, I guess. And we'll see if we get any news out of any of these games.

It's a lot to get into. NBA media days, we talked about a lot. We'll be back with you tomorrow at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. You can always hit rewind on the free Odyssey app if you've missed a minute or a second of the show. The JR Sport Brief Show is done.
