What a busy Monday. NBA trades and signings. Los Angeles Lakers still don't have a free agent that's come in. Klay Thompson said, No, thank you. Klay Thompson decides to go to the Dallas Mavericks. LeBron James reportedly open and willing and able to take a pay cut. Chris Paul is going to be hanging out with Victor Benyama. That should be fun, I guess, if Chris Paul can stay healthy. I mean, he getting old too.

Looking at 40 years old in the face. Been around just as long as LeBron James. Nobody talks about Chris Paul.

Old as dirt. Anyway, congratulations, Jason Tatum. We talked about him as well. Got himself a brand new contract, a brand new deal. Three hundred and fourteen million dollars. This man has signed the richest contract in NBA history. So a lot's going on in the world of basketball.

Obviously, we learned early in the morning. Of Paul George deciding to head on to Philadelphia to play with the Sixers. I'm not all that excited, to be honest. They got Eric Gordon as well in the building. And I look at the Sixers, they bring back Kelly Oubre. Tyrese Maxey gets himself an extension as well.

And I just go, this is all good and great. But. The key is that Joel Embiid stays healthy. And when the hell is anybody ever going to count on that?

I don't think you should. Anyway, thank you to our producer holding it down in New York City, Nick Theodoro. As I mentioned, I'm in Atlanta, Georgia. We'll be here for two more hours if you want to participate in the show. It's real simple. It's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven.

It's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. You can find me online everywhere. I am at J.R. Sport Brief. That's at J.R. Sport Brief everywhere on social media.

Now, right before we went to break. We talked about the Denver Nuggets. Contavious Caldwell Pope decides to go to Orlando to play for the Magic. They were able to offer him more money than the Denver Nuggets. And just over the past two off seasons, the Nuggets have lost two big pieces to their championship team. They lose Contavious Caldwell Pope. They also lose Bruce Brown, who goes to Indiana.

He was then moved to Toronto. And it made me think about how the Denver Nuggets just won a championship. And here they are.

They've they've lost two big pieces. And the NBA has pretty much designed itself and the CBA to stop a lot of what we've seen over the past, I don't know, five to 10 years. When you think about Kevin Durant saying, oh, my God, the Warriors can afford me with a new television deal.

And so I'm now going to make my way to Golden State. Nobody wants to see, you know, eight players on one team. Well, we got other teams in the league that's just starving and suffering. It's not fun.

It's not fun for the bad teams that don't have a chance in hell. And let's be real. If you're in a particular city. If you're New York, more recently, if you're Los Angeles with the Lakers, if you're down in Miami, if you're a team like Boston, if you got history and you have a good location, I'm talking about a livable, exciting place. You're always going to attract talent. But then you have some cities that you would think they'd be destined to be asked forever.

I mean, come on. Nobody is going to confuse Oklahoma City with Miami or Los Angeles. But if I got to take a look at a team like the Oklahoma City Thunder. They they've been amazing. They have great management, despite what you might say is a less desirable location in Oklahoma City. Sam Presti has done an excellent job, you know, bringing in a Shay Gilgus Alexander and drafting a Chet Holmgrum and developing a Jalen Williams. This is a squad signing Isaiah Hartenstein. Like, I'd expect the Oklahoma City Thunder to be competitive again next year.

And so Nick, producer in New York, he brought up a great point. Like the NBA is better when the talent is spread out. When you know that for the most part, maybe you got a chance after a couple of seasons, after a couple of years that you're not just going to be in the toilet because the Lakers or the Celtics are hoarding talent. And the Celtics, let's think about this as well. Their top two players, they drafted them because the Brooklyn Nets were complete idiots. That's it. Tatum and Brown are basically the result of a terrible decision to bring in a Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett because Mikhail Prokorov, owner of the Brooklyn Nets at the time, wanted to make a giant splash and just try to go for a championship, try to buy one.

What a disaster. He bought a championship for the Celtics. And so now everybody says that they're primed to be competitive for the next few years, and they should be. And I started to think about parity in other leagues. OK, Nick, when we were in the break, I took a look at which league basically has had the most champions. Like I decided to go back to the year 2000 and I said to myself, what league has produced the most champions? What league do you think has done or had the most chance since the year 2000? I would have to say probably the NBA.

No, not at all. MLB? Major League Baseball. Ironically, the NBA has had the least amount of championship teams since the year 2000. So the NBA has only crowned 11 champs, 11 champs since 2000. The Raptors, the Mavs, the Cavs, the Bucks, the Nuggets and the Pistons.

Yes. Remember the Pistons with, you know, Ben Wallace and Rashid and Chauncey. They want to know for every team I just mentioned has one championship. The Celtics have two. The Miami Heat have three championships. The San Antonio Spurs have four. The Warriors have four. And the Los Angeles Lakers have won six championships since the year 2000. We know about the Kobe Shack three-peat.

We know about the bubble and we know about the two with with Kobe and Gasol. So that's 11 champions in the NBA since the year 2000. If I go over to Major League Baseball since the year 2000, Major League Baseball has crowned 16 champs, 16. Only five teams have won two. The Boston Red Sox have the most championships since the year 2000. The Red Sox have four titles. The San Francisco Giants have three. The Houston Astros, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Yankees. They all have two.

And then after that. These these teams, they all have won the Braves, the Nationals, the Dodgers, the Cubs, the Royals, the Rangers, the Phillies, the White Sox, the Marlins, the Angels and the Diamondbacks. All with one championship.

Since the year 2000. Slide on over to the NHL. They have 14 champions over the past 20 years. The Blackhawks have three. The Penguins have three. The Lightning three. The Kings, Red Wings, Avalanche and Devils all have two.

And so the NBA. Eleven in the NFL. They have 13 champions since the year 2013. The Patriots. Yeah, we know they got six.

Doesn't look like they have any in their future right now at least. The Chiefs have three. Giants two, Steelers two, Buccaneers two, Ravens two, the Packers, Eagles, Rams, Colts, Broncos, Saints and Seahawks.

They all have one. And so, Nick, it's kind of interesting when you think about parity, like all of the leagues are pretty similar in that regard. You know, when it comes down to champions that are being produced, I mean, outside of the Lakers and then you think about the Patriots and then the Red Sox with four. Yeah, you're going to have some teams that are a little bit higher up on the totem pole, but it seems like the wealth is spread out. It's like if you can put together a decent organization, you can actually you can have some success. And then we got some other teams that just don't win worth a damn, you know? Yeah, that's true. Well, so I guess that means that business is booming and times are good right now overall, wouldn't you say?

For who? Well, for obviously not us, but all the franchises where the wealth was spread around by winning. Oh, yeah. Well, yeah, everybody. I mean, even if you're not winning, you're making tons of money.

Yeah, which is which is bad, which is awful. And I think this is I don't think there's a league where this is more prevalent than than baseball. OK, I talked about how Major League Baseball just over the past 20 years, they've had the most champs, which pretty much means that we know through baseball, if you can put together a farm system and have some arms like you can come out of nowhere and be a champ. The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Texas Rangers, there was no real expectation for either one of these teams to make it to the World Series last year. And there they were like the Arizona Diamondbacks. They might as well have been a farm system slapped together out of nowhere. And boom, all of a sudden competing in the World Series.

Easy, right? When am I going to see the pirates and nutting go for a championship? When am I going to see the terrible franchise that's going to be leaving Oakland? What am I going to see them out here competing for a championship? I don't feel like it's going to be any time soon. Who knows? Maybe pirates not too far away.

They got Paul Skeans. So if they could build the put some offensive players behind them and get some more pitching, you never know. Yeah, you never know.

That's the beauty of it. But historically, I'm not saying that the pirates can't win or they will never win. But the fact that you have owners in Major League Baseball who will not for the life of them spend money consistently is terrible for continuity.

Like this. You've got teams that won't spend worth a dime. And there's there's there's no impetus for them to do so.

There's no mechanism that says you have to spend or you spend here. You've got you've got a team like the Dodgers who say, oh, yeah, we'll pay Shohei Ohtani for the next 20 years. You've got teams Shohei Ohtani's contract in one season is more than than some teams are spending on entire rosters.

And that's just ass backwards. And so it's great in baseball. A team can come out of nowhere. They can have success.

Nick hit the toilet. I mean, it has bothered me and will bother me forever. It doesn't matter who owns the Marlins. You've got a team in the Marlins that all of a sudden in the farm system is great.

Bringing a free agent. They win a World Series and they burn the team to the ground. The fans don't get a chance to enjoy and soak in a championship because they've already stripped the team down to the ground.

That's that's like the worst. And so baseball is a great gift and a curse. You can wake up and if you have a decent farm system and pitching and can get runs across, you can win. But there's also like poor management from the top down. A commissioner, I think, in Major League Baseball is terrible.

Now, if I got to think about parody. I think the NFL is the best example unless you are a complete idiot. And it's difficult to just be at the bottom forever. OK. Like everybody can't wake up and be the Jets. I mean, even the Lions have been able to turn things around. But outside of the New England Patriots, which has just been a massive aberration over the past 20 years, 25 years, picking up six championships. And now we have the Chiefs.

OK, sure. They got the best quarterback. But the fact that that you got a bunch of other teams that, hey, the Seahawks, Saints, Broncos, Colts, Rams, it's difficult to win a Super Bowl. But at least if you suck and you can get a good quarterback in and then you can go ahead and get a coach in.

Like those are your two linchpins at ultimately having success. You ain't got no quarterback. You ain't winning worth a damn. In the NFL, just just knowing that you sucked. You're going to get a top draft pick unless you gave that pick away. Like, look at the Bears. Bears have been looking for a quarterback forever and people are expecting them to compete, probably for a wildcard spot this year. You go ahead and look at Houston and what they did last year. Finally bring in a quarterback in Stroud and bring in a coach and D'Amico Ryans that people actually respect.

Look how fast they turned around. It's legitimate for people to say, oh, my God, the Houston Texans are probably the best football team in Texas. And for the past three, four years, towards the end of Deshaun Watson, people looked at the Texans and said. That team right there.

Well, they're a joke. Look how fast they were able to turn things around because of a quarterback and a coach. And so you got teams that just don't do anything.

And in a lot of cases, they either a don't spend or they have terrible management. And so the NBA. Yeah, there's more parity. And I think the reason why we've only had 11 of these champions in the NBA, why they have the least amount of champions since the year 2000. Yeah, it is because of free agency. And I think it's going to be different moving into the future because the NBA don't want these guys all linking up, leaving some of these other teams just just really in their dust. Eleven champions in the NBA over the past 25 years.

I think that is definitely going to change over the next 25 years. We're going to have more teams, you know, winning maybe one or two and and spreading the wealth. That is unless Victor when Benyama is just basketball God out in San Antonio. The Raptors, the Mavs, the Cavs, the Bucks, the Nuggets, the Pistons all have one championship over the past 25 years. The Celtics have to, you know, they're looking for another one. Miami Heat have three Spurs Warriors have four and the Lakers have six.

Parity is good. Hopefully the NBA can can continue to catch up to the JR sport. We show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven.

That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. Speaking of the Spurs, we're going to take a break. And when we come back on the other side, I want to talk about the guy who's going to be throwing passes, throwing lobs to Victor women. Yeah, this guy's old as dirt and he's still playing ball. That's 855-212-4227. Right before we went to break, we talked about parody in sports. Or I guess the lack of parody or maybe where the NBA is going in regards to parody. The NBA is saying, hey, if you want a championship, we're going to make sure that you can't afford all the guys that you need to keep. That way we don't have these super teams. That way we have more teams that have a legitimate chance of going out there and being competitive.

Good for them. There's going to be a team next year I think will be a little more competitive than they were this past season. And that's the San Antonio Spurs. We've talked a lot about some of the free agent movement, some of the contracts that have been doled out and the NBA handed out over the past 24 hours. Klay Thompson is now a member of the Dallas Mavericks. Jason Tatum gets a contract extension. Five years, $314 million.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pulp, I mean, he's one of the reasons we talked about parody. The Denver Nuggets not able to afford to keep him under current rules. And so he goes down to the Orlando Magic. Paul George is now a member of the Philadelphia 76 or so. There's a lot of movement going on.

Now one move that made me kind of scratch my head just a little bit. Chris Paul going to the San Antonio Spurs. A one year contract.

$11 million. And so what does this mean? Chris Paul is going to team up with Victor Wambenyama.

And you want to tell me that this is not going to be great for Wambenyama's development? You want to tell me this is not going to be good for a San Antonio Spurs team that was one of the worst in the league last year? Twenty two victories. Sixty losses. Twenty two victories. Sixty losses.

This is basically Victor Wambenyama, Devin Vissel and a bunch of other guys. And for Victor Wambenyama in his rookie year. Twenty one points, ten and a half rebounds, four assists. Of course, the man with the longest arms in the world almost blocked four shots a game. And not too shabby when you're seven foot four, all you got to do is lift your arm up anywhere on the court and you're basically a threat.

But the San Antonio Spurs, they needed somebody to get him the ball. And typically, when you think about a future Hall of Famer like Chris Paul. The twilight of his career. This man just turned 39 years old. He turned 39 years old in May. Typically, guys like him, they are here looking for championships, right?

They're looking for titles. He just finished up. With the Golden State Warriors and the guy missed plenty of time.

Fifty eight games averaged 10 points and seven assists way off from typical Chris Paul numbers. What the hell is he going to do when Steph Curry is the boss out there? And so now that he's a free agent, there's there's not there's not chasing a title. Chris Paul is not going to the Denver Nuggets.

None of this. He's going to the San Antonio Spurs to, I guess, help help lead class, help teach a lesson. We know Greg Popovich is there in the San Antonio Spurs for as young of a team as they've been. Trey Jones leading the way at guard. They just drafted Stefan Castle out of Yukon. Devon Vasella has that big contract. Jeremy Sohan is on the team as well as the starting forward. And you have Victor when Benyama given a lot of rumors and talk about, oh, well, the San Antonio Spurs can easily go ahead and make a trade for Trey Young has been reported. They didn't want him.

Why are you going to give up assets? And so Chris Paul, at this stage of his career. The man who's been a 12 time all star, nine time all defender in the league, six time steals leader, four time assists leader.

I know it's been a long time ago. Chris Paul came into the league. This man was Rookie of the Year. He has more assists than anyone in NBA history. Not named John Stockton, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, Mark Jackson.

Well, magic. My Chris Paul is a legend. And for him to go out and I don't know, maybe from his perspective, he's going to lead the way and help them build. And maybe he plays three more years.

I have no idea. But Greg Popovich put something in his ear to say, you're going to be the boss here. You're going to lead the team. You're going to lead the offense.

You're going to help this guy develop. And it's been reported that Chris Paul wants to prove to everybody that he is still one of the elite guards. In the NBA. But at 39 years old. After all of the injuries that he suffered. I feel like he sticks his hand out and boom, all of a sudden is. There's an issue.

He breaks his hand. This is good for the Spurs. And the best that they can hope for is that Chris Paul leaves a mark.

That that somebody learns something that that that somebody walks away with a lesson in that women. Yama gets better by playing with him, because let's be honest. How many more years are you going to have a Chris Paul?

And even so. By the time Victor Webb and Yama is good enough to win something. Chris Paul is probably going to be watching his son play basketball. Interesting move by Chris Paul to join the Spurs.

At least Greg Popovich gets something in Victor Webb and Yama gets one of the best point guards to have ever played in the NBA. The J.R. sport we show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. Speaking of guards, the WNBA, very popular.

You might have heard of it. And yesterday we had a matchup between two guards, a legend. And Kaitlyn Clark. Diana Taurasi going at it against Kaitlyn Clark. We'll tell you what happened. We'll hear from them on the other side of the break, because if we're going to talk about great guards, we might as well include the two of them. And unfortunately, you know, I think Diana Taurasi has been a little jealous of Kaitlyn Clark.

It seems that she has some positive words to say at the end of the game. I'll fill you in on what took place and what happened. You're listening to the J.R. Sport Brief, the J.R. Sport Brief show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. I need you to think O'Reilly Auto Parts for all of your car care needs.

That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. You know, right before we went to break, we talked about a legendary point guard in Chris Paul. We know he just finished up one season with the Golden State Warriors. He's now signing with the San Antonio Spurs one year, eleven million dollars. Chris Paul just turned 39 years old and he's expected to be a veteran leader for young San Antonio Spurs team. That has someone who might be the flag bearer for the NBA for, I hope, the next, I don't know, 10, 15 years.

Fifteen years might be a lot for Victor women. Yama, you know, I look at him and I just go, man, one day I hope he doesn't break his foot, blow out a knee, what have you. When you're that damn big, things don't always work out, but we haven't seen anybody this big, this athletic like when Benyama. So we'll see what happens with Chris Paul and how he can help Victor women. Yama just continue to soar and excel with an exciting dude to watch. And speaking of point guards, Nick, how much of this WNBA have you been keeping track of, man? You've been a fan? Definitely more than I've usually watched in previous years just because of obviously all the attention Kaitlyn Clark has drawn to the WNBA. But yeah, definitely can't say I've paid a lot of attention in years past, but definitely this year they have my attention.

You and millions of other people. So just yesterday, Kaitlyn Clark in the Fever took on the Phoenix Mercury. Now, yeah, these are two teams that make it sound real hot outside. The game took place in Phoenix, Arizona, right downtown in the Indiana Fever. They came back to win over the Mercury.

The final score was 88 to 82. And as Nick just said, anywhere that Kaitlyn Clark shows up. So do the people. A sellout crowd of 17000 people showed up in Phoenix to see Kaitlyn Clark take on what you could consider to be her idol in Diana Taurasi. This is the first time that these two went at it. Diana Taurasi is a legend and she's been around forever. I mean, for the past 20 years, she's been here in the WNBA and she's 42 years old. She's still going.

She's going to the Olympic team. I mean, when Diana Taurasi was in college at UConn. Kaitlyn Clark was just born. Diana Taurasi is 42 years old. Kaitlyn Clark is 22 years old.

There's a 20 year difference here. And, you know, Diana Taurasi didn't necessarily seem all that great or sound all that enamored about Kaitlyn Clark and the attention that she got coming into the league. It's a wild world when someone that you idolized growing up pretty much looks at you and just kind of chops you down on your way into the league. Diana Taurasi was just like, oh, it's going to be a reality check and she doesn't deserve this.

And it's just like, whoa, take it easy. And Kaitlyn Clark, what does she do? She says there's nothing. She just goes out and plays. And so yesterday she had a crap day shooting at basketball.

Four of 14 from the field, two of 10 from deep. She did knock down some big free throws at the end of the game. And she was also one rebound away from a triple double. Kaitlyn Clark finished with 15 points, 12 assists and had nine rebounds in the game as her team, the Fever, beat Diana Taurasi Phoenix Mercury. Diana Taurasi, on the other hand, she finished the day with 19 points. She also had a bad shooting day, five of 14. Brittany Griner as well had 24 points. And so after the game, you know, things were a little, I guess, happier. Diana Taurasi actually took some time.

This is a little bit of a shock. Diana Taurasi took some time to actually praise Kaitlyn Clark. Take a listen to what Taurasi had to say about her. Yeah, I mean, it's amazing, you know, what Kaitlyn's been able to do in her short career so far is just been nothing short or remarkable. And, you know, the one thing that I really love about her, she loves the game. You can tell she's put the work in. And even, you know, throughout, you know, her short WNBA career, it's been a lot of pressure, a lot of things thrown at her. And, you know, she keeps showing up and keeps getting better every single game. So her future is super bright. And, you know, being a veteran and being this league for a long, long time, you know, it's pretty cool to see that and, you know, going into the future. Wow. That is as complimentary as she has been of this woman since day one.

Really? Like everything is Kaitlyn this and it was only a couple of weeks ago that Diana Taurasi was talking about Kaitlyn Clark's omission from Team USA Basketball. And Diana Taurasi was just like, oh, you know, she needs to earn her way and make her way. And and this is not about just putting her on.

We need to have the best team. And it's like, whoa. Tell me how you really feel without without saying it.

Just come out your mouth and say, I'm a little jealous. That's it. She wouldn't say it, but of course. So after the game, Kaitlyn Clark, she was complimentary of her idol.

Take a listen to this. She was probably one of the first women's basketball players I really grew up idolizing and really like knowing. Obviously, her sue Maya. She was one of the first that I really knew about and supported and, you know, idolized and wanted to be like. And, you know, I just admired the way she played the game and the fire that she played with. And she's obviously the best score our game has ever seen and one of the best players our game has ever seen. But I would say my first memory is just like around the WNBA in general.

And when I like first started to, you know, really watch this league is was because of her. Yeah, it's it's always cool at times. At times.

When you have. Two competitors that are going at it. They're destroying each other. They're talking trash before the game.

And then afterwards, everybody's just throwing flowers. Just the nature of being competitive. I mean, this is this is the WNBA. This is women's basketball.

I don't think there's there's anything more like this than probably like like boxing, like how many times you got. And of course, you got two fighters. They need to sell the fight. They need to hype each other up. They need to demonstrate animosity, even if they don't have any towards each other. And then they get into the ring and they start beating the living the hell out of each other. And when it's all said and done, you know, the next thing you know, they're giving each other hugs like that shared moment. That shared moment of trying to kill each other.

You know, there's a different level of respect that you pretty much enter into. And that's not to say Diana Taurasi and Kaitlyn Clark hate each other's guts. It seems like there's more people that hate Kaitlyn Clark's guts. And what does she do?

Nothing. She gets attention. She draws eyeballs and she makes everybody money and people for some reason just want to want to chop her down.

And so it's actually nice. It's actually refreshing to hear someone like Diana Taurasi just shower Kaitlyn with praise, especially being that she was one of the chief instigators when it comes down to just antagonize her for no reason. What do you think about her?

Oh, it's going to be an adjustment. She's not going to be able to do that here. Oh, what do you think about her not making Team USA? Oh, well, it's not about her or how good she is or it's not.

It's sometimes it's about the team and not the talent. Whoa. Oh, maybe she realized it was a bad look for her to keep talking bad about her, I guess, considering how popular she is now. Do you think someone like Diana Taurasi cares? You think she cares?

Maybe. I honestly I maybe I've heard the name before, but I don't really know who she was because I never really followed the WNBA. And I guess she is one of the older players. So but everybody knows Kaitlyn Clark. Maybe during this time, not a lot of people know her name unless you've been following them. WNBA for years.

No, I don't think so. Diana. Diana Taurasi, if there is an equivalent to an NBA player, Diana Taurasi would be almost Kobe-esque. Like she she has been a stalwart in women's basketball for the past 20 years.

And yes, sure. She's she's closer to the end than she is to the beginning. She's 20 years older than than Kaitlyn Clark. She is the league's all time leading scorer. I guess if you want to combine her into being a a Kobe slash LeBron from an accolade standpoint, that's what she is. She's just a straight scorer.

I don't think it's a matter of people not not feeling or Diana. She's she's cutthroat, by the way, if you can't tell by her comments, not the nice ones geared towards Kaitlyn Clark. But she just she's a killer. She is. And so that's why I say I don't I don't think she's she's throwing the flowers because, oh, you know, I've I've I've gone too hard at Kaitlyn and this is not going to be a good look. Diana Taurasi's legacy is set as an NBA player. So why do you think she's being nice to her now? I don't think it's a matter of being nice to her now. I think she she respects her after playing against her.

That's it. Like Diana Taurasi is going to her sixth Olympics. Ridiculous.

Makes no sense. And I think after the first meeting for Kaitlyn Clark to have a poor shooting game and to step out onto the court and still contribute to winning, still almost put up a triple double. It's it's like fighting.

Why do two guys who sometimes hate each other get into a boxing ring, beat the living hell out of each other and give each other hugs at the end is simply just a matter of respect. And I hope with a legend like Diana Taurasi, you know, throwing some flowers out there, I hope that some of the lesser players and a lot of them are lesser players than Diana Taurasi. Most certainly when it comes down to accolades, no one scored more points than her in history.

I hope that that some of the other players go, you know what we need that we need to let up. Because this woman, Kaitlyn, is making money for everybody. Any city that she goes to, she is just increasing spending. She's increasing money.

When she was here in Atlanta a little more than a week ago, I went to go see her. And the money that she generates is tangible. Parking attendants are getting paid. Vendors are getting paid. They're moving her games into larger venues, into arenas. Instead of holding Kaitlyn Clark games in front of, I don't know, 3000 people, 17,000, 18,000 people are showing up. The lights are getting turned on. Somebody has to pay for that. Somebody has to turn the lights on. Somebody has to serve the food and cook it. Somebody has to operate the trains to get people to the game. The sheriffs have to conduct traffic outside. Media shows up.

Engineers have to show up. There's an entire ecosystem where people are just making money because she comes into town. And the WNBA has never, ever had a player like her do this.

And so naturally it comes with a lot of jealousy. As great of a player as Diana Taurasi was at UConn, as great of a champion as she's been. Ain't nobody showed up to see Diana Taurasi. Not like this.

Nobody showed up to see Cheryl Swoop. Sorry. Not like this. People have showed up to see Kaitlyn Clark.

Why? Because we haven't seen anybody that's shooting logo threes like this at the college level. We have never seen anybody come out of college.

No bombs in a way. We've never seen a one woman wrecking machine out there just balling out. And so she's generated the attention. She's generating the money. She's generating the eyeballs. I mean, some of the most viewed and watched games in WNBA history over the past 20 years have been with Kaitlyn Clark.

And so maybe as we continue on in the future. People just relax. And this is still her rookie year. What the hell is she going to look like when a her teammates can catch the ball on the receiving end of a pass? And she feels comfortable enough to to expand her scoring. Tom will tell. I give Diana Taurasi some credit here for actually showing love and not beating her down.

But I guess by the time we get to the Olympics, maybe Taurasi will have more negative things to say about Kaitlyn. Good on her for actually showing love. The J.R. sport we show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven.
