The Boston Celtics are gonna win the NBA championship, sorry. What else happened? The Atlanta Falcons, they got in trouble, or did they? Not really.

The Eagles got in no trouble for tampering. We got a new hockey team in Utah and the name, it sucks. Some of the most uncreative garbage I've ever heard in my life. We're gonna get into Luka Doncic being a crybaby. Hey, the Little General is gonna join us. Avery Johnson, former champion with the Spurs, basketball analyst on CBS Sports HQ. Avery Johnson is gonna join us in about 20 minutes. Last night while I was here on air, Tom Brady got honored up in Foxborough. Randy Moss was crying. Bill Belichick was praised. Jay-Z performed like Jay-Z is playing right now. Dan Hurley spoke.

What a day, what a day, what a day. And J.J. Reddick I guess is officially now, he's gonna have himself an interview. Come on, the Lakers are such a mess. It's hilarious, it's great storytelling with the Lakers. We found out we got a Netflix series on receivers. It's just a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot.

Thank you for listening. You can always tune in on the show, like I said, on the free Odyssey app. We get started every single weekday at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. It doesn't matter where you live or what you're doing, any place all over the country.

What a day, what a day, what a day. 855-212-4227 is the number. That's 855-212-4227. You can find me online at JR Sport Brief. I'm gonna go ahead and ask our super producer and host Ryan Hickey. Ryan, how the hell you doing, man? You good? I am good, JR.

I gotta call myself out here. I may have accidentally, not purposely, but accidentally lied to you just before. Oh no, you told me a lie? I think I did.

Maybe I'll say I jumped the gun, not a lie. I led myself astray when we were just before coming on the air talking about Utah hockey and that there may have been a new name picked because they released their color scheme today. It's like a light blue, black and white. And in the release it said Utah Hockey Club. Now I thought, okay, they picked a name, it's Utah Hockey Club. What I'm reading is that they have not officially picked a name that will come at a later date after the vote of the, was it six or seven names you talked about last week? Good. That vote is underway, but that's still an option.

Utah Hockey Club, I don't know why they picked that as a temporary one, but that's a temporary name. No, no, no. That's better, okay? If they wouldn't, like, everybody got bit by the Washington commander's bug, is that what happened? Like, we already got one, we don't need another one.

Is that necessary? What did we say a couple weeks ago? Did we say Yeti? Utah Yeti? Yeti was a good one. There was Yeti, Venom, Cowboys, Rangers, some garbage, right? Avalanche?

Yeah, stay away from Avalanche. We already got one of those in hockey. Wow. Okay, that makes me feel better. It would be such a cop-out.

It would be such an unfortunate thing if Utah gets a team and they just call it the Utah Hockey Club. That is, that is boring, man. That's, that's like eating, that's a salad with nothing in it. That's just like eating raw lettuce, Hickey. Come on.

I agree. It's like eating mayonnaise just by itself. Oh, yuck. Or something that needs seasoning. That's like chicken with nothing on it, no seasoning, nothing. That's like a pizza just with, with bread. Well, it's no sauce, no cheese, just bread. It's pita, it's a pita. It's not a pizza anymore, it's just a pita.

Pita bread is good, but even pita bread has a little bit of seasoning. Yeah. I know it's Utah, but give it some life.

Call it the Yeti. Do something. Speaking of life, Hickey, Dallas Mavericks have no life, man. They dead. They're dead. They're finished. They're cooked. NBA finals are done. I tweeted it out last night.

I said that it's all folks, like the old Looney Tunes. Dallas Mavericks end up losing last night, 106 to 99. It looked like it was going to be a close game.

Did not happen. Luka Doncic had a meltdown and a tantrum at the end of the game. He forgot how to play basketball. I guess his injuries are finally catching up to him. Luka had 27 points, six assists, six rebounds and six fouls. 666. Yeah, it wasn't good for Luka Doncic.

Kyrie Irving did have 35 and came out of the box and he actually scored some points, did better than, I don't know, getting out the teens, but it wasn't enough and it won't be enough. Because I think, what is it, 156 and 0? 156 and 0. When a team goes up 3-0, they finish you.

They treat you like it's Mortal Kombat. It's done. And I know Luka Doncic had all this to say last night. He's like, oh, it's not over.

It's not finished. Oh, we still got a chance. No, no, y'all don't.

Maybe you'll win a game, but y'all don't have no chance. And Luka last night, after the game, he couldn't even bear the fact that he was fouling last night. This guy was playing defense with his arms and not his legs.

And then he just was angry. Listen to this. I don't know. We couldn't play physical, so I don't know. I don't want to say nothing, but, you know, six fouls in the NBA Finals, where I basically am like this.

Come on, man. Better than that. No, you're better than that. You can't play defense, and your legs hurt, your arms hurt, you can't move your legs, and I get it, you're compromised, but you're better than that. Why, because you're Luka Doncic that you can't call a foul at the end of a game? Because you're Luka Doncic, the referees are supposed to ignore what's going on? If anything, you being a whiny crybaby all season long, all throughout the course of your career, that doesn't help you when it comes down to the foul calls. And this man is one of the best players in the league.

I think Luka Doncic can easily be the best player in the league. But he got to shut the hell up. I mean, he was only last series where he was kind of patting himself on the back for having self-control, not yelling at the officials.

Well, now you ain't helping your case. And I mean, reaching out and grabbing people, playing defense with your arms? I saw people online last night, oh Adam Silver, it's rigged, and Adam Silver is, oh, they told him call a foul, oh, it's rigged.

No! The man can't move to save his life. Even Jason Kidd, he was just like, listen, man, Luka got to play better defense. He is definitely got a bullseye on his chest, and so he's got to be able to guard and understand that we're there to protect him and help him if he does get beat.

If he does get, he got beat a lot last night. They were cooking that man. This man had four fouls in the fourth quarter. Cooked. This man is the first time he got thrown out in the playoffs. Cooked. And the fans couldn't believe it.

Well, tell them not to play defense with your arms. Kyrie Irving woke up, 35 points. Kyrie Irving had a message to Luka after the game. We just got to let it breathe a little bit, let the human emotions come out, and just give him a hug.

That's it, man. It's easy to point the finger at just him, say, you know, you could be better, and that's easy to say. I think he knows that. But yeah, it's just reiterating that I got his back, and we all have his back, and it's a tough game, and it was a tough call. We could have probably done a little bit something different on this fifth foul, just to give us a little bit more of a grace period to set our defense and get him on a matchup. But hindsight's 20-20, but we just got to wash our hands with this and get ready for game four. Hickey, did he say you just got to give him a hug? Is that what Kyrie said? Yeah, I think that's going to solve all their issues. Just give him a hug, and he'll stop fouling and play better in game four.

Yeah, I don't know if that's a sound strategy. Jason Kidd is like, listen, man, a guy has to play better defense. And Kyrie Irving is like, oh, we can't do anything but give Luka a hug. Well, I mean, if you're going to give him a hug, give Luka Doncic a bottle, give him a pacifier, get him a giant-ass diaper. Hickey, what size is a diaper for Luka?

The man is like 6'8", 6'9". I mean, that's custom right there. There's no XL, double X. That is just custom.

No? You can't get that in like Walgreens? Got to go to Big and Tall. Big and Tall makes diapers?

Adult diapers, do they? Custom. This is a special order. He needs to call Shaq. Exactly right. Call Shaq for the Big and Tall diapers.

I get it. That man is a glorified crybaby. And so he's had a, he's had a night to think things over. Luka Doncic had a night to kind of recognize that maybe, maybe I was fouling and maybe I need to shut the hell up. So he spoke to ESPN today and Luka was asked if he felt that he let his teammates down.

Listen to this. Yeah, of course. I mean, like I say, you know, it wasn't the smartest thing to do, especially in this situation is the finals. You got to give everything a little tie out there.

But yeah, you know, the car has been great for me just having anyone here. So what did you say to your teammates afterwards? It's my bad. You know, can't do that, especially in NBA finals. You know, regular season is a little bit different, but can't really do that in the finals. Oh, Hickey, it sounds like that hug worked, man. I know we were dissing that hug. It sounds like that hug from Kyrie worked out. He's a changed man now.

24 hour, not even 12 hours later. The man said sorry. He told his teammates my bad. And you're damn right it's his bad.

And I know he's tired. For the past two games, Luka Doncic had to take a shot into his chest because he has a chest bruise. I don't know what a chest bruise is. Where do you get one? In a car accident?

I don't know. But he has one. People are putting shoulders into his chest. They're putting elbows into his chest. I get he's a basketball player. Luka Doncic has already been running around on a busted knee. Luka Doncic is already running around on a busted ankle.

That's a busted up man who's carrying a team on his back. Charles Barkley said it last night. Anybody who wants to blame Luka Doncic is out of their damn mind because they wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Luka. But his decision making last night with the fouls?

He was getting cooked and he got frustrated. There was no conspiracy theory. There was no Adam Silver. There was no Jason Kidd screwing it up.

Luka was just a crybaby. And we know this series is over. It's done. I don't give a damn if the Dallas Mavericks win one game. If they win, well, they ain't winning two. It doesn't matter how many more games they win.

The series is done. I hope Luka Doncic takes this offseason as a learning experience. This man has won MVP in the EuroLeague. This man has won a championship in the EuroLeague as a teenager.

And now he's playing in the NBA. Bruh, you got to stop. If you want to take that next step and win a championship, something that I think he's capable of.

Luka Doncic is going to have to learn what a lot of people learn. You're going to have to learn to shut up. Yeah, express yourself. Go ahead. Tell people how you feel. But you're going to have to learn how to be measured. I want to see him win a title.

I do. But not acting like a petulant baby. Not acting like a child who needs his Baba. Not acting like a baby who needs a nap. Not acting like a toddler. Grow up.

It's really that simple. Is he going to represent Slovenia in the Olympics? Well, you got to help him get there, OK? Or is he going to let his body rest after playing so much basketball all the way through June, almost winning a championship?

Luka is amazing to watch. Outside of all the crying. Do better. Hickey, is it too early for me to say congratulations to the Celtics? Should I wait a few days?

No, not at all. After that game, I think just the body language of the Mavericks told you this is over early and it's over in four. It's done.

It's done. And Luka Doncic, maybe Jason Kidd, Kyrie, Mark Cuban, Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash. He was sitting there courtside. Somebody tell this guy something.

I know they have. What does he want to be, the Rashid Wallace of the Slovenian basketball players? Stop. It also sucks that this NBA finals is not competitive. I thought that the Mavs would win at least, I don't know, two games.

It doesn't look like it right now. Get cooked. Let's just fast forward to the damn NBA draft and watch the parade in Boston. I'm here for it.

It's crazy stuff. It's the J.R. sport re-show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. We just getting started.

How about in about five minutes? We're going to have a former NBA champ, a current basketball analyst is going to join us. His name is Avery Johnson. I'm going to ask him about the Mavs and Luka. I'm going to ask him about the Lakers job. We're going to get into the Celtics. We got a lot of basketball talk with the little general. Avery Johnson is going to join us on the other side of the break. We do have to show more love to the Celtics. Speaking of Boston, we have to show love to Tom Brady. They showed him love last night, putting him in the Hall of Fame. We're going to talk about Dan Hurley. He finally broke his silence about why he turned down the Lakers job. We'll talk about the Falcons and the Eagles, whether or not they got punished for tampering. Kaitlyn Clark says, I'm not here for the drama. The Big 12 might change its name from the Big 12. There's so much for us to do.

It's the J.R. sport re-show here on the Infinity Sports Network. Avery Johnson next. Don't move. OK, quick math. The less your business spends on operations, on multiple systems, on delivering your product or service, the more margin you have and the more money you keep.

It's the JR Sport Brief show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. Yeah, the Celtics, they got this team cooked. The Dallas Mavericks are basically, they're done. If they can do it, they make history.

It doesn't look like it's going to be the case. Joining us right now is someone who won an NBA championship. He's played in the league. He's coached in the league.

He's an analyst on CBS Sports HQ, breaking down basketball all over the place right now. We're being joined by Avery Johnson. Hey, Coach Johnson, how you doing, man? I'm fine. How are you? I'm very well.

Thank you for taking the time to hop on. NBA finals. It looks like we're down to the wire here. What are your thoughts on what we've seen so far, Coach? Boston has been outstanding. They've been the better team.

You know, that first game, they really, you know, was extraordinary in a lot of different ways. Their defense has just been high level. They don't really have many weak defenders on their roster.

They can switch. They are two very, very high level young players with Tatum and Brown and you add in experience with Drew Holliday and Derek White. So Joe Missoula, their coach, he's he's grown as a head coach. He's got some reinforcements with Coach Lee and Coach Sam Cassell on the bench as his assistance, as he made over a little bit of a coaching makeover with his assistant. And Dallas, unfortunately, they struggled to shoot the basketball. And if you struggle to shoot the basketball, you can put a lot of pressure on your defense. We saw the defense last night at the end of the game come to a disastrous halt, especially with the fouls called on Luca Doncic. Avery Johnson is here with us, the JR sport re-show. What would you as a coach tell Luca Doncic after the performance and the histrionics at the end of the game while he fouled out?

What would you tell him? Well, I would just tell the entire team, you know, control the things that you can control. This is the big boy game.

There's no. There's really no room for babies in the NBA finals. I've coached in the finals.

I've played in the finals. It's a man's game and you've got to be ready mentally and physically. There are no excuses. You don't want to ever be overly focused on officiating. Already, really, the other team in a sense, you've got to focus on the things that you can control. Your preparation, your game plan, getting your mind and your body ready to play, ready to get to the next play. The game is a game of mistakes. But if you are not ready to move on to the next play, you're going to be quantified by having two mistakes at the same time.

So it's kind of like in baseball. You don't want double plays. You don't want double errors. But if you turn the ball over, you don't get back on defense. Then that's a double mistake.

So you try to minimize those. They laser focus on the task at hand and a couple of Lucas fouls. One was in the backcourt, 90 feet from the Celtics basket because he thought he got fouled. The other one was at half court when he was trying to reach on Pritchard. So those two fouls, you take away those two, then the foul that he fouled out on, he would only add four fouls.

But you've got to be smarter, locked in, and don't allow the referee to become a distraction. Avery Johnson is here with us on the JR Sportbreeze show Coast to Coast. When you look at the Dallas Mavericks getting to this point, last year they had Kyrie Irving. They don't even make it to the postseason. They perform worse as this team got together. What needs to be the next step for them to continue to be competitive in a Western Conference that's stacked? Well, I don't think anybody's worried about the Western Conference right now.

They're worried about winning the game. And I think, you know, with this next game, you got to figure out, in my opinion, find your best seven players. I think they played 10 or 11 guys last night. That's not going to work.

It's like a crapshoot. So you got to find your top seven guys. That's going to eliminate a couple of guys from the rotation. Maybe make a couple of adjustments on your defensive rotations. You got to guard the ball for sure.

And maybe try to put Luke in the post a little bit instead of always isolating him at the top. Well, Coach, we've seen the Boston Celtics get to this point one win away from the finals. We've heard a lot over the years about Tatum and Brown, how they fit together, how they don't fit together. How have you seen them grow over the years? They've grown. I mean, the social media people have talked about that they're not really close and, you know, they're fighting each other for attention. But those guys are like Scotty and Michael. They really are.

Not now, Scotty and Michael. When they play with the Bulls. But they're playing cohesive basketball. They know how to play off each other.

They know when to take over the game. But more than anything, both of those guys are very competitive on the defensive end. They're not one way players. They're just not offensive players.

Those guys are two way players. They've improved with their ball handling, decision making. And Tatum was hot in the first half. And Brown took over in the second half. That third quarter was extraordinary. Nobody can really beat them with that type of third quarter that they put on.

So it'll be interesting. I just think the Mavericks, you know, just got to try to force it to a game five. Get to the free throw line a little bit more. Figure out how to punch the ball inside to some of their big guys when there's a mismatch.

And move the ball a little bit and get other guys involved in offense. The former NBA player and coach, current analyst Avery Johnson joining us here on the Infinity Sports Network. There's been a lot going on during the finals involving the Los Angeles Lakers with their head coaching search.

Flirting with Dan Hurley. Now it appears that they're going to go ahead and look at J.J. Redick. What are your thoughts on what the Lakers are doing? It seems kind of slapstick right now.

Yes, it's a tough spot. I think they're trying to probably recreate what Golden State did. And let me remind your listeners. Golden State, when they hired Steve Kerr, who was my teammate on our 1999 championship team. Let me remind everybody, he had won five or six championships as a player. OK, five championships, probably minimum.

I may be off by one. Steve Kerr was an executive and president of the Phoenix Suns. Steve Kerr was a very successful broadcaster and analyst with TNT.

He was a part of their top team for a couple of years. And then he got the Golden State Warriors job after Mark Jackson obviously got into one level and Steve took it to the next level. So to try to recreate, let's bring in another coach without, and I'm happy for J.J., if he gets the job, awesome.

I would love to interview him for CBS Sports HQ and if he gets it, wish him well. But, you know, you have a lot of other guys out there like the Sam Casals, one of the top assistants with Boston. We know Coach Lee already got the job with Charlotte.

So I think there are other options. Hopefully they'll have a wider pipeline or pool instead of not just landing on one guy, but give some of these other guys or even some of the other former head coaches an opportunity. You look at Frank Vogel, he won a championship with the Lakers and one or two years later he was gone. Darwin Hamm takes him to the Western Conference Finals and, you know, a bad matchup with Denver Nuggets and now he's out. The West is tough, as you were talking about earlier, stacked.

And, you know, who knows? If Dallas would have played Denver, we don't know if they would have beat Denver. If some of those other teams that Boston played were healthy and had their best player, you just don't know. But we'll see how that Lakers job turns out. But I hope that not only J.J., but some of these other well-deserved assistants and former head coaches get an opportunity to interview for the job. Avery Johnson is joining us here on the J.R.

Sport Brief Show. You played, you coached, you did it at the college level, the professional level, you named the Vogels and the Hams of the world. Is coaching in the NBA, is there like no security now? It doesn't matter what you do, the players make so much money. It seems like the coaches get hired to eventually get the boot.

It doesn't seem fair. Well, it's a revolving door, except for a certain group of franchises. And, you know, Eric Spoelstra, you know, he's been able to survive. And even back when they had the Big Three, if somebody on the Big Three was upset with Frank Vogel, and they went to Pat Riley and said, we want this guy out. Pat Riley said, no, you better change your behavior. We've seen that with Coach Popovich and San Antonio earlier in his career.

There were some rumblings and he was able to survive. So I think it all has to do with ownership and leadership. So we've seen a couple of coaches turn in a quick amount of time with quite a few franchises and they haven't won anything. So I think stability is the way to go if you got the right guy.

Stability is certainly the key in a lot of cases. Avery Johnson is joining us here on the J.R. Sport Brief Show.

I'm hitting the fast forward button. I'm ready to see what the Celtics and Mavs can do. I know we're going to blink and the NBA draft will be right here in front of our face. What are your impressions on the draft now expanding to today's, the international presence of players?

We've seen the last few MVPs come from outside of the United States. Is there a different emphasis if you're a team when it comes to the talent pool? Yeah, I think the emphasis is, you know, when you're drafting in a lottery, you try to find a starter and you look at some of these drafts. I know this draft supposedly is not as top heavy, but, you know, some of these draft teams have gotten really lucky. You can even date back to when the Greek freak got drafted.

You know, he wasn't the first pick in the draft and all of a sudden Milwaukee finds him at, what, eight or nine and he's turned out to be OK. So you've got to really do your homework with this draft. A lot of foreign players, your top two or three players could be from France. You've got a lot of people migrating from Africa to France playing the pro leagues. The French league is arguably the strongest international European league now. So a lot of French players are coming over and they're in the draft. And you could literally have, you know, eight to 12 foreign players drafted in the first round easily. Coach, final question for you. You look at this draft, everybody talks about the back end of it and what might happen with Bronny James. What are your thoughts on on his performance in school, what he did at the combine and ultimately what he might be early on in his career? You know, obviously, I'm not his dad. I'm not his agent. You know, dad has had a wonderful career playing at a high level. He will be at 40.

It's incredible. And I retired at 39 and I didn't have anything left. But, you know, Rich Paul, his agent, obviously, just told teams he's not going to sign a two way contract and he's staying in the draft. Based on what I've seen in my evaluation, you know, I probably would have recommended that he stayed in college. That's not my choice. You know, that's not my choice. You have his four points in college.

I know his last name is James and he's LeBron James Jr. But, you know, based on what I've seen in the workouts and at the pre draft camp, I would like to see him stay in college for another year or two. But it's not my decision. We'll see if some team draft him in the first or second round and whatever team draft him, then they got to live with it.

And they got to live with the consequences, the attention and and everything else. Hey, coach, I want to thank you for taking the time to join us. Where can people follow you and everything you do on CBS Sports HQ?

Fill us in. Yeah, they can follow me. Coach Avery, number six on Instagram, Facebook.

I'm on LinkedIn. And yeah, follow me. You can see what I'm doing in the sports world, in the business world, on Twitter. I'm Coach Avery six, not Twitter X.

And they can find out what I'm doing and not only in the sports world, but in private equity and all the other things that I'm involved with. OK, great, coach. I have to hit you up myself. I appreciate the time, OK? All right. Thanks for having me.

No problem. No doubt about it. That Avery Johnson, former NBA champion with the San Antonio Spurs, current analyst on CBS Sports HQ. I like what he said. He said, Luca Doncic, the entire team, they need to stop.

The J.R. sport show here on the Infinity Sports Network. Thank you to the little general for joining us in the last break. Avery Johnson came by man won a championship with the Spurs played with Tim Duncan. He's on the same team as Antonio Daniels, who joined us last week in two point guards. Hickey, what are the odds that Tim Duncan joins us next Thursday?

Hi, I'll get on it. Tim, don't don't let us down, Tim. I've seen Tim Duncan do one interview, I feel like in the past, I don't know, 10 years. And it was like, was it last week, two weeks ago, he spoke to he spoke. Did he talk to Richard Jefferson? Right. I think that's who it was.

I want a podcast. I didn't see that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

I don't I don't know what he said. I just saw them sitting there. It's him. Duncan doesn't talk to anybody.

Anybody. I don't blame him if it's him. He didn't talk when he played in the league. I was going to say, I don't remember him saying anything interesting at all. He's like he's like Jokic, but from the Virgin Islands.

That's it. And I know he likes swimming. The Punisher. And I think karate, I think. Is The Punisher what a movie?

Hickey. The Punisher is they made it into a movie, The Punisher. He's I think he's DC. He's a big dude that runs around in a trench coat with a skull on it. Oh, I have seen that logo. OK. Yeah.

The skull with the long, the long kind of long skull. It's like a right. Yeah. More like not rectangular, but like, yeah, I know what you're saying. Yeah, that's that's The Punisher.

Tim Duncan likes The Punisher. There you go. The more the more you know, eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven.

That's eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. We got to show love to the Boston Celtics. And we also got to talk about this ceremony for Tom Brady last night.

Tom Brady getting a hero's welcome back in New England. We'll tell you about it. Let's hit the phone lines.

Eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven. Keith, he's calling from Maryland. You're on the J.R. sport show. What's up, Keith? Hey, J.R., thanks for taking my call. How are you today? I'm amazing.

What's up? You know, I heard the general weigh in on on Bronny James. And, you know, I think the thing about sports, which you really love, unlike a lot of other industries.

Eventually, you're going to sink or swim. Now, there aren't so many jobs in the NBA. Now, LeBron James has the cachet and he has the leverage where he can certainly get his son in the league. Now, just looking at his physical attributes, I don't think anybody would say he's ready right now. You know, but in that combine, the kid jump, what, 42 inches. But, you know, it's more the basketball that just jumping. And I guess that looking at maybe a two year apprenticeship and he'll probably get more experience playing even in practice than he would in college.

Maybe that's where they're looking at it from. But, you know, I don't begrudge anybody who has the opportunity to fulfill their dream, even if it's through or vis-a-vis a family member. We see how many of these coaches, you know, they go to the top of the pack and they get coaches because of nepotism. What do you want Bronny to do?

It's too late now. He's going to get drafted. He's going to be in the draft. Well, he's going to be in the draft. And I think because of the father being a free agent, he can opt out. He's going to be drafted by whoever it is. He's going to be drafted and I think LeBron is going to go wherever his son is. LeBron isn't chasing any.

I mean, that's really on the back burner right now. You know, LeBron is getting ready for his retirement right now. Keith, and thank you for calling from Maryland. I appreciate you.

Thank you. I don't know. Is LeBron trying to win a championship? I think he is. Like, why wouldn't he want a championship on the way out the door? I mean, LeBron James is sitting around saying how much he misses Kyrie Irving, how he wishes he was playing with Kyrie Irving right now. LeBron James.

And let's be real. If if LeBron wanted Darvin Ham to be the head coach, Darvin Ham would still be the coach. If LeBron James wanted Frank Vogel to be the head coach, Frank Vogel would be the head coach. I mean, it kind of sucks that LeBron is sitting around powwowing with J.J. Riddick doing a podcast to kind of introduce the thought and the idea.

Kind of diabolical when you think about it. But it's LeBron James. He could do what he wants to do. And do I think he's necessarily going to team up with his son on any place or any city that his son goes?

I don't think so. And let's also be real. What team outside of the Lakers is going to want to draft Bronny? I'm being real, because if you're going to draft Bronny, you probably want to put him in the G League. You want Bronny James, you don't want to put him on an NBA court. Who else is going to do that besides the Lakers, stick him on the end of the bench? Who else? A stupid basketball team? I know we got a few. What, the Pistons?

They just got Tre'ja Langdon. He's not that stupid. So he's not going to do it. Picky, I don't think there's a dumb enough NBA team to say, hey, we're going to just draft Bronny James. For what? For what?

To have a sideshow and a circus? No, I don't think a team wants that. Just the Lakers. And I think that's why you saw even Bronny when it comes down to workouts, working out for the Lakers and the Suns. I mean, we'll see how many teams are interested. I'm not sold what Keith is saying in the sense of that LeBron's going to go wherever his son goes. If the Pistons draft Bronny, is LeBron going to Detroit?

Hell no. And so I'm with you, then what's the point of drafting him? All it is is going to be a media circus.

Maybe not Kaitlyn Clark-esque for what it is with the WNBA, but there's going to be a lot more focus on Bronny wherever he goes than any other second round or undrafted player that's signed to a roster. And for most teams I'm with you, it's not worth it. It's not worth it at all. And you know what? Speaking on something that's worth it, I think we got some breaking news, Picky, here on a new contract. Are you ready for this?

I am ready. Let's hear it. Ian Rappaport, he says the Jaguars have reached a deal with Trevor Lawrence, a five-year contract extension, $275 million, $55 million a year, 200 guaranteed, $142 million, fully guaranteed, $55 million a year for Trevor Lawrence. Trevor Lawrence is now making the same amount of money as Joe Burrow, $55 million a year.

Now, please help me out. This is paying somebody on potential and not paying somebody on performance. Because the last time that I looked, Joe Burrow, this is a man who actually took a team to the Super Bowl.

He might have had his injury issues and kind of got busted up. Now he's dealing with the hand, the wrist, the arm. Trevor Lawrence is $55 million. Like we have certainly entered into the Twilight Zone when it comes down to salaries for quarterbacks.

So what is Tuatanga Veloa going to sit down and think right now? Tuatanga Veloa thinks that he needs to get $55 million? Hickey, these numbers are ridiculous. Trevor Lawrence, $55 a year. He's tied with Joe Burrow for the most in a single season. Jared Goff is making $53. Justin Herbert, $52.5. Lamar Jackson, who has two MVPs, is making $52. These numbers are stupid.

They are insane numbers. The quarterback position just continues to reset itself. I think if you're Jacksonville, I would feel pretty good about this investment. But to your point in terms of now looking around with the likes of Dak and his future, Tua and his future, if you're the Dolphins and Cowboys respectively, you don't look at these numbers and feel all that well about paying your quarterback that, the $55 a year, and then maybe then some, as well to kind of reset the market. The more these contracts go up, I think if you're Dallas and if you're Miami, the more you feel uneasy about looking at your guy and giving him that amount of money.

Oh my God. I agree with you. Trevor Lawrence, he looks like he has room to still grow. The Jaguars certainly believe that he'll grow into that. This is still a Jaguars team in an organization that thought that Urban Meyer was going to be a good decision at head coach.

So I don't know how much faith I want to put in them. Trevor Lawrence has played in two playoff games that took place two seasons ago. Five hundred and five yards, five touchdowns and five interceptions. $55 million a year for Trevor Lawrence. At least Tua Tonga Veloa is going jackpot. Dak Prescott is going jackpot. And Trevor Lawrence is going, dammit, my agents got me a good one.

I think they fleece the Jaguars here. Damn. It's the J.R. Sportbree show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. 855-212-4227.

It's 855-212-4227. We're going to take a break. When we come back, we'll talk more about this gigantic deal for Trevor Lawrence, what this means for some of these other quarterbacks. And oh yeah, there was that quarterback that just got a, well, his jersey retired. It will be. It's Tom Brady.
