It is! The J.R. Sportbreeze Show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia.
Thank you so much to people tuned in and locked in all over North America. You could be here in Georgia. You could be in Hawaii, Alaska, Colorado, Vancouver.
You could be in Cincinnati. Shout out to Lee in Cincinnati. Yes, Lee, we're going to talk about Kaitlyn Clark in a second.
Of course, that's what anybody wants to do. All anybody wants to do is talk about Kaitlyn Clark. And we've talked about a lot already because this show gets started every single weekday at 6pm Eastern, 3 Pacific. You missed a minute or a second of the show. It's simple.
You can go ahead and hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. Thank you to people listening live and local on whatever local affiliate that they get fed the Infinity Sports Network on their local station. Hey, thank you to people listening on Sirius XM Channel 158. And thank you to people listening on a smart speaker. All you have to do is ask that smart speaker to play the Infinity Sports Network.
And boom, we pop right on up. Thank you so much to our super producer and host, Ryan Hickey, holding it down for us on the boards in New York City. If you want to participate in the show, if you want to call up, do it. 855-212-4227.
That's 855-212-4227. You can find me online. I am everywhere. I am at JR Sport Brief. You can consider this to be halftime of the show. We've talked about the Boston Celtics taking a 2-0 series lead in the NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks. We talked about Jason Kidd trying to play mind games, saying that Jalen Brown is better than Jason Tatum. We talked about Darvin Ham going back to Milwaukee to operate as an assistant coach. We talked about Dan Hurley. He's not leaving UConn. Dan Hurley is going to stay in Connecticut. Dan Hurley told the Los Angeles Lakers, no.
He said, no, I'm not leaving. They offered him six years, 70 million bucks. Dan Hurley can probably get a better deal in Connecticut. He's probably a 10-year deal.
Doesn't have to move his family. They'll pay him a crap ton of money, probably get him in that 10-11 range, and he's not going anywhere. We talked about Mike Tomlin. Mike Tomlin giving an extension with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Three years taking him through the 20-27 season. We talked about Darren Waller retiring. And in a few minutes, we're going to talk about Kaitlyn Clark as Kaitlyn Clark was left off of the roster for Team USA Women's Basketball. She was named an alternate.
It took a couple of days for people to kind of relax on that one. And so we have so much to get into. We got Antonio Daniels who's going to join us in our next break to talk some NBA action. Former champion with the Spurs, current analyst for the New Orleans Pelicans, also NBA radio. So Antonio is going to join us in about 20 minutes, and then we'll talk about Kaitlyn Clark.
We got a lot to do. 855-212-4227. That's 855-212-4227. Dale is here from Birmingham in Alabama. You're on the JR Sport Reshow, Dale.
Please, go ahead. How you doing? Good to hear you again.
Thank you. What's up? Dallas. Dallas has to play on both ends of the court now. Offense and defense. And that's what's tiring Luca out. I mean, I didn't think Boston can do two consecutive games, but they done put it together finally, and they just off the chain. Well, Luca has never been known to be a hardcore defender.
And thank you, Dale, for calling from Birmingham. Luca is seemingly fine on the offense. 32 and 30 points. Luca is busted up. He had that big old rap on his midsection yesterday before the game. We've heard about his ankle. We've heard about his knee.
And Luca is not, well, if anything, he is walking wounded because he has to do a lot of the work. I mean, Kyrie Irving having 16 and 12 points in each game, game one and two, that's not going to help them out at all either. And so you think about the Dallas Mavericks, I just don't think, I don't think they have enough firepower. Derrick Jones isn't going to go out there consistently, get his own shot.
P.J. Washington is the next best option at the forward. Daniel Gafford and Lively are not going to go out there and get buckets unless it's, you know, a lob from either Kyrie or Luca. And so the Dallas Mavericks, I just think that they have an uphill climb.
That's just the reality of it. 855-212-4227. That's 855-212-4227. Lee from Cincinnati, he got right into it when he called us last hour. And he had a question as to why Kaitlyn Clark wasn't named to the USA women's basketball team that's going to be heading out to Paris, France.
And he asked me if I had an answer. And I don't, I don't. I think this is just another case of Kaitlyn Clark and the team pretty much saying, hey, you got to earn your keep even as a rookie. That's just what it boils down to. And you start hearing about the, well, they didn't want her around and they didn't want her stealing the spotlight. I think we have to keep in mind that the women's roster for Team USA basketball, what the hell does it have to do with the WNBA?
The answer is nothing. And let's be real. How many of these individuals that I'm about to name do you really, really know?
How many of them have you really, really watched? Nafisa Collier, Kalia Cooper, Chelsea Gray. You know about Brittney Griner? She's going back to the Olympics. Sabrina UNESCO, Jewel Lloyd, Kelsey Plum. Hickey, why do we know Kelsey Plum? Because her ex-husband just retired from the NFL.
Yeah, there you go. Tracing her music career. And she's a champ in her own right with the Aces.
Two-time champ? Yeah, she is. A Brianna Stewart from the Liberty. Diana Taurasi, who is, what is she like 41 years old now?
She is 41. Alyssa Thomas, Asia Wilson, and Jackie Young. Come on now. They couldn't put Kaitlyn Clark on the team?
Now, I'm not somebody that's going to kick and scream. And by the way, Kaitlyn Clark is an alternate. A matter of fact, before I get into it, let's listen to what Kaitlyn Clark had to say. She was asked whether or not she was disappointed to not make the team.
Listen. Honestly, no disappointment. I think it just gives you something to work for. You know, that's a dream. You know, hopefully one day I can be there. And I think it's just a little more motivation.
It makes you remember that. And hopefully in four years, when four years comes back around, you know, I can be there. Hickey, she doesn't, she never says anything. Like she said she's not, now you know that's a damn lie. Of course she's disappointed.
But come on. She said, I'm not disappointed. I'm using it as motivation to go the next time. Like she does, she says the right thing. Whoever taught her and put her in the PR marketing classes, they're geniuses.
It is ironic. I mean, everything that she does, there's a firestorm surrounding her, but she is the, I mean, what, the least controversial person in sports right now? She doesn't say anything. Nothing, nothing, nothing. And how about this? She's actually playing basketball. Hey, let's do a live looking right now. Let's see.
Oh, wow. Her team is getting, how come I feel like they play Connecticut all the time? Is it just me? I think they started the, wasn't that the opening game I think?
Connecticut Sun? Yeah, I feel like they played, yeah, I feel like they played them three times already. And it's not gone well.
It has not. Right now this game is being broadcast on NBA TV. And shout outs to the Panthers and the Oilers. They're going to get ready to get underway here as well in game two of the Stanley Cup.
The Sun is beating the Fever right now, 55 to 35. Kaitlyn Clark, oh man, she's found her way a little bit here. Ten points, one assist, three turnovers.
Okay, all right. Not too bad, not too shabby. Kaitlyn Clark averaging 16 points for the entire season. She said she's not disappointed. I don't know how you could not be disappointed to not make the Olympic roster. And Kaitlyn Clark continued on. She says, I'm not bitter about not being on the team.
Listen. I'm excited for the girls that are on the team. I know it's the most competitive team in the world.
And I know it could have gone either way of me being on the team and not being on the team. You know, I'm excited for them. I'm going to be rooting them on to win gold.
I was a kid that grew up watching the Olympics. So, yeah, it'll be fun watching. Now, she said all the right things. She's not disappointed.
She's going to be rooting for all the other girls who are going to be out in Paris. And she's saying everything right. When her coach spoke, Kristi Sides from the Indiana Fever, she said she spoke to Kaitlyn Clark when she got the news. And what Kristi Sides said versus what Kaitlyn Clark said, a little bit different.
Listen to this. We talked actually on the bus. She got the call on the bus and she texted me to let me know. And, you know, I just try to keep her spirit.
The thing she said was, hey, coach, they woke a monster, which I thought was awesome. So how much more is there to wake up, I guess, with her? And just how do you, I guess, appreciate that never satisfied mentality from her? Yeah, I don't know, man.
That's pretty scary, right? I mean, she's one of the most competitive people I know. But I mean, she is she's a worker and that's what she's going to do. So that's just you know, this just gave her another opportunity to get to get in the gym and do more work. OK, you heard it from her coach. They woke up a monster by not putting her on the team. Not something that Kaitlyn Clark is going to share publicly, but I don't know why her coach decided to share that publicly, but she did.
But so at least we know and as you watch on the basketball court. Kaitlyn Clark has a little bit of a pulse. But publicly, she doesn't say anything like she had every right to go. Oh, shucks. I would love to have been on the team.
And even that would have been interpreted. And oh, she's wrong. Who does she think she is to deserve to be on the team? Now, me, I don't got that much of a problem with her not being there.
All right. Now, if she was added as an alternate. So that means between now and Paris, if Diana Taurasi ends up, I don't know, spraining a toe because she's 41 years old, then she doesn't go. Kaitlyn Clark might get that chance and that opportunity. I would love to see her there.
Why not? I mean, I'm probably going to tune in and watch. But if Kaitlyn Clark is out there, I got even more reason to. And the reason why I wouldn't be all that invested.
Hickey, I got to be real. Even if she goes, do you think they're going to play her? No, I don't. And if they do play her, she'll be playing in garbage time when they're up by 40 points in the third quarter.
Yes. So I what's the point? And this was actually logic that that Team USA Basketball said we respect Kaitlyn. We love Kaitlyn with the women that we already have on the roster. We don't want to be, you know, set expectations for her to not play, which is true. She she would not play. And I guess it'd be even more of a of a you know what storm if Kaitlyn Clark was added to the roster.
She went to Paris. She didn't play everybody who's never watched a women's basketball game. And I don't know, 20 years is just like, well, why isn't Kaitlyn Clark playing? And this is the disrespecting her again. Like, I don't blame Team USA Basketball for not putting her on. I respect them for putting her on as an alternate. But she she was not going to play. That's it. And so at this point, Team USA Basketball would have been damned if they do.
They would have been damned if they don't. Because when it comes to Kaitlyn Clark, I think we've learned here. Hickey, correct me if I'm wrong. When it comes to her, it doesn't matter what's going on is there's no winning. You're right. And honestly, it's frustrating and exhausting at this point where everything and again, she's it's she's not doing it. She's just there playing basketball like everything that is said about her, everything that is done to her. It's like it's life or death.
And it's it's very tiresome. Well, I don't know how she well, I guess maybe looking at her bank account makes all of this just a little bit better. This is the last controversy for a while, right? Until somebody knocks her over.
Is this is this going to be it? Like, OK, she didn't make the Olympic team as she. And here's the thing. Like by the time we get to the end of July in August, who's to say that she doesn't make it to the team? So I can't even get ahead of myself and go, well, this is the latest Kaitlyn controversy and this will go away.
It's not because I don't know. You think she's she's going to make the team like somebody is going to go down. We talk about this from the men's side. How the hell Kawhi Leonard made Team USA basketball for the men.
And you can't rely on Kawhi Leonard to walk across the street without spraining an ankle is beyond me. On the women's side, we got a lot of season between now and the Olympics before they take their break. I wouldn't be shocked if Kaitlyn Clark did end up making the team as an alternate as she is listed. And then we might as well get ready for the next controversy of, well, Kaitlyn Clark is on the team, but they're not playing Kaitlyn Clark.
And now everybody has to suffer for it. And so, Hickey, just go ahead and get ready because this ain't over yet, man. Unfortunately, you're right. I hope it's the last controversy for a while. I hope that we can put down this charade and just watch basketball and let her be. But unfortunately, with how things trend, I think you're right. We'll have something flare up at some point if she's on the team.
That's why it takes so long. This is ridiculous. Disrespect. Like there's always something. Yeah. Everybody will complain except for Kaitlyn Clark. Ironically enough. Yeah.
Right. Hey, people, I guess people are doing complaining on her behalf. I just wonder if we're going to reach a point in time where she just says, hey, y'all, enough is enough.
And maybe that takes a few more years of her in her career, but it's just a pretty ridiculous what she's had to go through. This portion of the show is brought to you by Wesley Financial. Stuck in a timeshare in one out?

We got game two of the Stanley Cup Finals getting ready to be underway between Florida and Edmonton. Last night we had game two of the NBA Finals. It concluded the Boston Celtics have taken a two to nothing series lead against the Dallas Mavericks. I'm looking for some excitement.
I'm looking for some energy. We have some here with us right now. Joining us on the line is someone who's been an NBA champion. Is an NBA champion with the Spurs as a current analyst for the Pelicans.
You can also catch him on NBA radio. It's my main man, Antonio Daniels. Antonio, how are you, man? I am truly blessed, JR. How you doing, brother? I'm excellent.
Thank you for taking the time to hop on. I guess first question out the gate. First impressions on this NBA Finals so far? It just kind of, for me, it just kind of shows what the NBA is all about. You know, it's all about matchups.
Nothing else. And I think this is why the narrative changes so much from series to series surrounding players and collectively about teams. Because what we saw from the Minnesota Timberwolves was a team constructed to beat the Dallas Mavericks. But not a team constructed, I mean, excuse me, a team constructed to beat the Denver Nuggets. Right?
That's what we saw. But we didn't see a team constructed to beat the Dallas Mavericks. And now what you have in Dallas is a team that can beat the number one defense in the league in the Minnesota Timberwolves because of their size.
Right? Because of their size. Rudy Gobert, Jayden McDaniels, Karl Anthony Towns. Those guys were huge across the front line. They could not match up with the backcourt of Luca and Kyrie.
So now you flip to the next series and Boston is totally opposite of Minnesota. They don't have all that size across the front line. You know what they do have, though? They have the most valuable defensive asset in today's NBA and it's defensive versatility. They have guys that can switch one through four and sometimes one through five and you are not gaining an advantage.
You don't have to tilt your defense toward that switch. So now if I'm Luca and I'm Kyrie, who am I going to Rudy Gobert, so to speak? Who am I going to Karl Anthony Towns?
I'm going to look at that match up and say, OK, this is something I'm going to take advantage of. There's a reason that that Boston Celtics team won 64 games this year, because they were a top five team offensively and a top five team defensively. And it's been on display in these first two games.
Antonio Daniels is here with us, the JR sport reshow, the Infinity Sports Network, listening to what you just said. You have the Mavericks. They picking up a victory. You think they're getting swept based on what you say? I think they're going to win game three. I think that was a win game three, because, like, the thing is, if they don't win game three, obviously it's over. There is so much pressure on this game as far as game three is concerned for the Dallas Mavericks. And returning home, I don't think Kyrie Irving will be nearly as bad in game three as he's been in game one and game two. But also the PJ Washingtons, the Derrick Jones juniors, the Derrick Lively, you know, those guys, Daniel Gafford, I think that they'll be better at home as well.
I have Dallas winning game three, but I have them losing the series. We see what this is going on with the Boston Celtics. What are your thoughts on what Joe Missoula has been able to do here in his second year? I mean, his job basically got dumped on him after an Imei Yudoku situation last year. And Joe Missoula has, it seems like he's kind of beloved by everybody inside that building. How has he kind of changed things from year one to year two? Well, I think a huge change, obviously, and I don't want to discredit Joe Missoula for the job that he's done, but a huge change from year one to year two is the additions of Christos Worsigis and Drew Holliday. That makes a huge difference.
That makes a huge difference. Christos Worsigis, having a 7 foot 3, 7 foot 4 guy that can shoot out to 30 feet, gives Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown an amount of space that they've never had. Having Drew Holliday, a guy who is a championship caliber player, right? We saw what he did with the Milwaukee Bucks. We saw what he's done thus far in his playoff run. As far as his defensive intelligence and his offensive versatility is exactly what they need. So Joe Missoula has put the pieces of the puzzle together. What I like that the Boston Celtics haven't done and what Joe Missoula hasn't done, they haven't got caught up in the national narrative around, OK, well, whose team is this?
Who's the Batman and who's the Robin? All the things that the national pundits are discussing, they don't care about. They just care about winning the NBA championship, which to me is a championship mindset.
Well, listen, Antonio, you got a championship with the Spurs, and we see the Celtics getting ready to probably hoist another banner number 18. The Los Angeles Lakers have obviously been in the news because of their coaching search. Dan Hurley rejected them earlier today. What are your thoughts? Is Dan Hurley you surprised by his decision, or is the Lakers too much of a train wreck? What say you?
You know what? I would love to have been a fly on the wall to hear the conversation that transpired between Dan Hurley, Jeannie Buss, Rob Palenka, anybody else who was in that room. Because when you don't look at this simply from the financial standpoint, right, of a six-year, $70 million contract, I think to myself, what was said to Danny Hurley to make him leave there, go back to UConn and say, you know what?
Nah, I'm good. That's my big thing, because the Lakers probably are, the Lakers and the Knicks are probably the top coaching seats in the NBA. So it's almost like, okay, it's all at your feet as far as the money is concerned, as far as the job is concerned. Like, did they tell him a plan? Like, my question is, is the organizational chemistry there?
You know, you understand what I'm saying, JR? Like, there has to be something that was said to make Danny Hurley think that going back to UConn, I'm sorry, I am not on the side of thinking that it was simply about him going back to UConn to win a third straight championship to do something that hasn't been done since the 70s or 80s or whatever it was. There has to be something that was said to make him go back to UConn.
And I wonder what that something was. Do you think, Antonio, that this is obviously indicative, as you said, of the Lakers organization? Is the job now less attractive? If you're JJ Reddick, for instance, do you say, hey, you wanted me a second pick and now maybe is he reticent?
What do you think? No, no. The thing is, if I'm JJ Reddick, this is obviously the money will be different. The years will be different. The confidence will be different as far as the front office is concerned toward whoever they hire because they're not Danny Hurley. But the thing is, it's like you don't turn away a job like that if you're JJ Reddick, if you're James Borrego, if you're Kenny Atkinson.
You know, you're it's not a prideful it's not a prideful thing. You're not thinking, well, you know what, if I wasn't the number one option, I don't want the job. If I'm JJ Reddick and I'm Kenny Atkinson and I'm James Borrego, I can understand because of Danny Hurley's history, because of his cachet, because of his resume, why they would go after Danny Hurley first.
I can understand it. But I would also understand that on the other side of it, they're probably not going to they're not going to offer JJ Reddick a six year, 70 million dollar deal. They're not going to offer James Borrego a six year, 70 million dollar deal. You know, it's going to be a different contractually speaking. But I think if I'm those guys, like I would have all the confidence in the world to think that I can come in and make some sort of difference with the Los Angeles Lakers.
There's an organizational arrogance that the Lakers have that I think makes it very, very difficult for anyone to succeed, though. Antonio Daniels is here with us to share our sport brief show, the Infinity Sports Network. Nobody wants to get selected last. We've heard a lot over the weekend about Kaitlyn Clark and her non selection to Team USA basketball. And now she's on as an alternate.
What are your thoughts? Should she have been added out of the gate or would that have been too much of a distraction? No, here's my thing. Like I don't if you add her, I understand. And if you don't, I'm not outraged by it. I don't understand the outrage behind it. Like when people say things like, well, she's growing the game.
Well, the game will continue to grow. That's a given. But my question that I ask the same debate that we have when we're talking about all star snubs or all NBA snubs or whatever may be, if you're going to take someone off, if you're going to take if you say this person deserves to be on it, what are you taking off? Are you taking off Chelsea Gray? You know, you're taking off Diana Taurasi. Are you taking off Kelsey Plum? Are you taking off June Lloyd?
You know, like who exactly are you taking off Jackie Young? Who are these are women that are established that have won gold medals that have won WNBA championships, again, that have resumes that are like a Walgreens receipt. So I don't I can understand from a business perspective, from a business approach, why Caitlin Clark should have been added to the team. But it's difficult for me to sit back and watch people be more outraged about Caitlin Clark being on that team than Caitlin Clark is being. As far as her not being selected.
Yeah, it's pretty wild. How long before we get the next Caitlin Clark controversy? And so we got to wait a week.
How long we got to wait here? And shoot. My thing is, if she would have been selected, I think it would have been a controversy as well. Because now the issue that you run into is, well, why is she not playing more? You know, you put her on the team, you put her on a team like if people want to compare her to the whole Christian Laitner situation, if you go all the way back, what is that, 1992, 32 years ago?
If you go all the way back to 1992 and Christian Laitner rarely played. So would the Caitlin Clark fans be OK with her simply being on the Olympic team, but not playing a whole lot? So is it one controversy after another after another? It's again, I'll say this from the business standpoint of it. She should have been on it from the business standpoint for our eyes, you know, to get eyes on the U.S. Olympic team, all these other kind of things. But if we're doing this like for the integrity of the game.
I can understand her not being on it. NBA champ, current analyst for the Pelicans, Antonio Daniels, is here with us. Last question for you. I mean, you've been in the league and seen the ins and outs of it. It seems that the power structure when it comes down to coaches at all levels is just you get hired to get to get fired as the players start to make more and more money. So do the coaches, but they're easily disposable. Do you ever see the dynamics shifting where the coaches got a little bit more say than than the players or is that long gone?
I think that's long gone like this. I think this player empowerment era is here to stay. And, you know, there are certain coaches because of what you just said, J.R., because of the fact that. Coaches are so easily disposed of. Now, you're not even given coaches an opportunity to develop.
Any sort of system. You know, you look at what? Because when you're when you become almost indisposable as a coach, you know what like comes with that? What comes with that is time. Like, there's a reason Eric Sposer and Greg Popovich are Steve Kerr are where they are. Look at how long that they've been at their respective organizations.
But we live in such a. But do you think about the Lakers, the Lakers since 2010, they've had eight head coaches. They've had eight head coaches in 14 years. And the thing is, one of those head coaches, two of those head coaches and one NBA championships. So, like, what are we?
These are conversations that we have on on our show. J.B. Baker staff was just let go. He was just let go after incrementally getting better with the Cleveland Cavaliers and not winning an NBA championship, but also not being where they once were. So it comes down to what are teams looking for?
Like, for example, if I was to ask you, what are the Los Angeles Lakers looking for in their next head coach as far as success is concerned? No, they got to find somebody to carry LeBron's bags. That says a lot. Hey, that's what it is. What does what does LeBron want? Right.
I did. I, I would hope I would hope that that's not the case. With Jenny Buss and Rob Palenka there now, I would hope that that is no longer the case, because if that if that's and that's the thing and coming into these situations, I would want to know the head coach. How much autonomy do I really have? You know, if if we're in Game 20, if we're in Game 20 and LeBron wants me to challenge a call and I don't challenge a call, if I choose not to challenge the call, I'm going to get fired. There's a reason Adrian Griffin got let go after winning 70 percent of his game. And I will say this, J.R., because you talk about player empowerment. It's not players. It's star players. Role players need not apply because we're not talking about role players like I would guarantee you Malik Beasley didn't go to the front office in Milwaukee and say, you know what, man? I'm not really clicking with Adrian Griffin. No, no, that's a that's a Giannis Antetokounmpo and a Damian Little issue.
When Darvin Ham got fired, I don't think he got fired because he wasn't getting along with Austin Reeves and Jared Vanderbilt. You know, it's because of LeBron and Anthony Davis. These are star player conversations that we're having. So how much autonomy do you have as far as implementing your culture, being able to actually hold your stars accountable, I think kind of becomes the question.
It's a it's a tough, tough business. Well, you got your championship and now we can listen to you and see you on TV. And Tony, I appreciate the time. Where can people follow you in all your work? For me, I'm just on Twitter. I'm just on Twitter.

Taking a look at everything going on in the world of basketball. Thinks the Celtics have this in control to win a championship over the Dallas Mavericks. He doesn't fault, you know, Team USA basketball for not adding Kaitlyn Clark for basketball reasons, probably because she wouldn't get a lot of burn. And then he said the Los Angeles Lakers, man, they really need to evaluate, you know, what they're doing, how they are attracting talent.
Their premier organization and Dan Early basically said, yeah, no, thank you. 855 212 42 27. That's 855 212 42 27. I need you to think O'Reilly Auto Parts for all of your car care needs.
Get guaranteed low prices and excellent customer service from the professional parts people at O'Reilly Auto Parts. Let's go ahead and talk to Todd. He's calling from Indiana. Todd, you're on the JR Sport Brief Show. What is on your mind? Hey, JR, it's Todd. Hi to Todd. You might remember me from the Blue Oyster Cult reference. Don't fear the Reaper. Yeah.
What is that? From a couple of months ago? Yeah. We talked about Purdue a little bit, too.
Yes, I do. What's up? All right. So Kaitlyn Clark didn't make the Olympic team, but I heard today that the most popular baby name for girls is Kaitlyn. And the most popular boy's name is Clark.
So from Indiana, Peyton, everyone used to name their kid Peyton from, you know, Manning back in the day, 30 years ago. Right. So to me, that's being named Team USA. Well, is that is that going to help Team USA win basketball games because of some baby's names? Well, if they have maybe 50,000 of them. I don't know.
All I know is that they named 50,000 more kids Clark than any other boy's name. OK. All right. Well, Reggie, I don't mean, but I know that you hate the Pacers. I hate the Pacers, me? It seemed like I heard some Pacers hatred versus the Celtics criticizing, you know, Halliburton's clothes. Yeah.
It's just like just show up and play basketball, man. Like, am I hating or am I expressing my opinion? I don't. I like people who like you heard me praise Kaitlyn Clark. You heard that, right? Oh, sure.
Yeah. I like people who show up and do the job and don't complain and talk crap. And I like people who talk crap.
But you've got to be able to back it up. You know, we did a top six list and we talked about some of the best trash talkers that we've ever seen in the world of sports. And we played a clip of Michael Jordan, who we had at number two on the list. And Michael Jordan basically said, you know, you really show who you are when you can talk trash and talk crap when you're behind and when you're even. But when you're ahead and you decide to talk crap and you would nobody. And I think in the case of Tyrese Halliburton from a few weeks ago, he didn't say anything when he was stinking a joint up. He didn't say anything as he was getting hurt. He didn't say anything until after they eliminated a busted up Knicks team.
And then he wanted to talk the Knicks. And it's just like, fine, you want to be a troll. I get it. People want to be trolls and people want to throw shots. And that's the world that we live in. I just think it says a whole hell of a lot more when you can talk the talk, you know, before you go out there and beat them. You know what I'm saying? Like, why do you wait until the end? Oh, I do. I hear you.
Just like that Reggie Miller, you know, when he scored, Michael Jordan scored 44 on him versus, you know, 12 after the 10 to 4 point lead. Oh, so you heard the show last week, huh? You heard. Yeah. And Larry Bird told Chuck Person he was the greatest player from Indiana after they were going at it pretty good there for the back when the five game series in the first round.
And I also wanted to give you a good musician from the top six list. Landon Tisdale was a great base player. Really? He was also a pacer, though.
Did he? Oh, thank you. It's like the more you know, Todd. Well, thank you for calling from Indiana. Yeah, man, you got it. All right, man, take it easy.
Thank you so much. Hickey, we learn something new every day, huh? Now we do.
We have a very smart listener base. I know, right? Bringing facts every day. I know. I wanted to say useless information, but I didn't want to be a jerk. Well, you know, sometimes that information can be thrown in that category, but hey, it's still information, right? Yeah. Still something we didn't learn the previous day. I know. Well, what can you say?
Thank you so much, Todd, for calling from Indiana. Why is he trying to get me all hyped up again about Halliburton? And why do these athletes talk? You know, Michael Jordan said that almost 30 years ago.
No, not even 30. Maybe 25, 26 years ago he said that. And it still rings true. Like, they should play what Michael Jordan said, Hickey, in all of these locker rooms for the players to hear. Like, it's one thing to talk crap when you're ahead, but say something when the score is 0-0. Like, say something when you're behind. Like, show me, show me your cajon. Well, no, don't show anybody nothing. But show me. Yeah, don't do that.
But show me that you got some guts. Everybody always wants to talk crap when they're ahead. Nobody wants to do it when they're behind.
And that's what Halliburton did, man. You want to know why I think that's happening in the NBA more than really anywhere else? I think players are afraid of getting embarrassed. Correct. And so they don't want to put themselves out there because they're afraid of the repercussions.
So they take the easy way out instead of, like you said, older players. But just say, you know what? No, we're going to win this game. And if you don't, OK, live with it. I own it and move on. But I think guys are very sensitive now and almost, you know, afraid of getting, you know, oh, I'm going to get a clown if I say this. So I got to make sure I won't say anything till we win.
Then I'll have, you know, all my fun. Well, it's the same premise of why everybody's so cool, right? It's the same reason why we got a LeBron James. We've never.
Can you can you imagine this, Hickey? And it sounds even more ridiculous as we've gotten. Well, he's at the end of his career. We will never see LeBron James in the dunk contest ever, ever. Because I think in LeBron's case, he thought either A, he was too good for it.
And then B, if he loses, what is what is LeBron getting out of it? I think a reason why he didn't do it when he was younger is because he was always criticized. He didn't want to open himself up to it. And it's just like, hey, it's too far gone. It makes no sense for me to do it now.
And he's right. But it's just too cool for school. I don't want to be embarrassed.
And and what do I look like if I lose? That's the world that we live in. You're right, man. You are sad because, like you said, we miss out. I think the players themselves miss out.
Don't push themselves as much in some cases. And there's overall as a society and a sports loving, you know, group that we're in right now, it's big L for us. Yeah. You know what? That's why I give Kaitlyn Clark a lot of credit as we spoke and you spoke about it. We talked to Antonio about it as well.
It's one thing to talk crap. Kaitlyn Clark on a basketball court will talk. OK, she'll get a tech and she'll push. She pushes people to now.
All right. And she'll get texts and all of this. But when it comes to like after the game, she's not saying anything. She's not inciting anybody.
She's strictly business and gets right to the point. You know, just for entertainment's sake, I could go without a Kaitlyn Clark controversy for another week. But I'd love to see her at the Olympics. I'd love to see her get a chance. And damn it, if she's throwing up threes at the end of the game, then so be it. At least people will actually tune in and watch. We know how difficult that can be. OK, I'll be watching the men's side as well.
