So get ready to go behind the glitz and glamor of the most iconic family on television.

The all-new season of the Kardashians premieres May 23rd streaming on Hulu. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Super producer and host Ryan Hickey.

He's holding it down for us in New York City. Thank you to everybody locked in. I don't know what you're doing, but thank you. I appreciate you. If nobody told you thank you today, I did. Did your kids tell you thank you? Did your boss tell you thank you? Did your spouse? Did your partner tell you thank you? Screw them. I did. Anyway, I'm going to be with you for one more hour.

No need to thank me. Hey, we got a lot to talk about. Hey, we got a basketball game going on right now.

Minnesota Timberwolves lead the Denver Nuggets 13-9 in the first quarter. Kaitlyn Clark making her debut. The team is getting its ass whooped right now. Indiana Fever at home.

Everybody Kaitlyn Clark mania, right? She has nine points and four fouls. Her team is losing the Indiana Fever, losing to the Liberty 83 to 59.

86 to 59. Anyway, that's enough about that. People just they just want to take a massive crap on Kaitlyn Clark right now. Well, verbally, like everybody wants to talk mess about her. And it wasn't even like her first game. It was she had 20 points. And what, 10 turnovers, the 10 turnovers, 10 turnovers is a record for a debut.

And tonight, you know, not the best nine points and four fouls. But in due time, in due time, we've had a fun show so far as well. Thank you so much to Matt Verteram from Sports Illustrated for coming through to join us. Talked about the NFL schedule.

Thank you. Learn that the Steelers have a tough one ahead of them. We also know that the New York Jets, they are tied with the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers for the most primetime games this season.

Six. And so if you can't get enough of Dak Prescott and the Cowboys, if you can't get enough of Brock Purdy and if you can't get enough of Aaron Rogers, you got the Jets, the Cowboys and the 49ers all season long for the New York Jets sake. Hopefully they have Aaron Rogers, because we know things don't always work out for that man.

And you know what? You know, it's a big deal when a man that you've never heard of is doing a media tour for the NFL. His name is Mike North. And he works in the NFL scheduling department. He works with all the TV people in the networks. And he had an explanation for why the New York Jets have six primetime games after Aaron Rogers basically went down in a heap last year.

Listen to this. I think there's a lot of really good storylines in the league right now, one of which is Aaron Rogers, right? This time last year, we were all in on the we were all in on the Jets, everybody was. And you know, he made it four plays and that schedule suffered as a result. Now he seems like he's healthy.

He seems like he's relevant. The Jets seem to have gotten better. So are we all in again on the Jets? You know, every time Aaron Rogers plays Josh Allen, like that feels like must see TV now. It was last year.

I think it is again. No, it wasn't. It wasn't must see TV because he got hurt. It was all good until he got hurt. Hard knocks was good.

Watching him hang out with sauce. Gardner was good. And then Aaron Rogers went down and then we had to listen to him on podcasts. That wasn't good.

Even Pat McAfee got sick of him. Anyway, the Jets are great story. The 49ers they'll be good if there is no story. The Dallas Cowboys are always a story. The Buffalo Bills people just want to see if they fall off.

The Ravens have no story. Bengals. I'm actually going through all the teams that have a lot of prime time games. The Ravens, the Bills, the Bengals, the Lions.

This is new for them. The Lions have five prime time games. The Chiefs, the Rams, the Eagles, the Packers and the Dolphins. They all have five prime time games.

Panthers have zero. And I'm trying to think of the teams with the big stories. The Browns, I want to see the Browns have four prime time. I want to know what Deshaun Watson does.

Is he going to be healthy? The Steelers are always fun. That back end of their season is just terrible on for them at least. They got to take on the Chiefs. They have the Eagles.

They have every team in their division. It's going to be rough. The Falcons will be a crap show. The minute Kirk Cousins twists his ankle and people start calling for Michael Pennix. The Broncos are going to suck. I can't wait for Sean Payton to have a conniption. The Bears, I'm going to be paying close attention to the Bears.

What's going to happen with Caleb Williams? We actually get to see the Bears and the Lions on Thanksgiving. That should be a lot of fun. Hickey, are there any teams that you want to follow besides the Colts? Any teams that you just want to monitor just for the hell of it?

You mentioned before the Bears. I'm very excited about this team. I think Caleb Williams can play really well early on and you look what's around him.

He's got a good talent offensively, defensively. I think they're going to be in the playoff mix right away. That's a team I'm very excited to see. That'll be fun. Not only do they play on Thanksgiving against Detroit, which is a big treat. That's the first Thanksgiving game every Thanksgiving in Detroit. That'll be fun.

Hopefully that's a new tradition. Then also, earlier on in the season, there are going to be ample opportunities to see the Bears. The Bears have three primetime games this year. Houston for Sunday Night Football, September 15th.

That'll be fun. They're going to be in Jacksonville, the Bears are, to take on the Jaguars who are looking for free money to help build their stadium or at least half of it. They have the Thanksgiving game against Detroit and then they keep on going.

Wow. They're at Minnesota, Monday Night Football, the Chicago Bears are. Then they take on Seattle the day after Christmas, Thursday Night Football, the Bears and the Seahawks.

There's going to be plenty of plenty of opportunities to see Caleb Williams and what he can go out there and do. And so, yeah, we talked about the primetime games, the NFL schedule. We got into the team that was eliminated from the playoffs last night in the NBA, the Cleveland Cavaliers. We talked about the Dallas Mavericks one step away from eliminating the Oklahoma City Thunder.

And then maybe even tomorrow, the Celtics will know who they'll face in the Eastern Conference Finals as the New York Knicks take on those soft pacers. You know, Hickey, I saw the outfit and I believe it was the outfit he wore in Madison Square Garden. Tyrese Halliburton is very into fashion and there's nothing wrong with that. Tyrese Halliburton showed up in like a suit that made him look like it was inflated in air.

It was like he went into Prince's closet and found a button up shirt and just overinflated it like a inflatable balloon man. And I said to myself, and this is just this is me, like I'm I like fashion, but I also am not a fashionable person. I like to get dressed up if I need to. But you may see me most times and jeans, a T-shirt or a hoodie. I'm simple.

I don't need that stuff. If you're going to show up in like couture high fashion, if you're going to go the extra mile. Can you at least be a winner first? Am I wrong for being a fan for having that approach? That's I never thought about that. I would agree. I think you have to in order to pull off certain looks like you have to be a caliber of player or a winner. I definitely would agree with that.

You can't be a loser or a player that disappears in primetime and show up to some of these games dressed to the nines. I think you're spot on with that. And there's enough. And here's the thing. I'm not talking about being dressed up.

I mean, you put on us like having a suit. Great. That's fine. You know, you want you want to have your own individual style.

That's fine. But we know that there's there's fashion show levels. OK, here about this. Ben Simmons a couple of weeks ago, maybe it was last week, Ben Simmons was at the Met Gala. Ben Simmons isn't healthy enough to play basketball. And what he does away from the court is his business. But when it's public, it's everybody's business, especially if you're a fan. And it's almost it's almost a slap in the face to go, man, you don't even show up to play and you're at the Met Gala dressed like the cat in the hat. You know, it's it's it's mind boggling to me like Ben Simmons, who plays for the Brooklyn Nets or at least is getting a check from him.

We know he doesn't play. Ben Simmons shows up to sit on the bench. The Brooklyn Nets color scheme is black, white and gray. The court sometimes is gray and black. The inside and outside of the arena is black. The uniforms are white and black.

It is the most muted color scheme that you'll see for a professional sports team. And then you got Ben Simmons sitting on the bench in a frilly green and yellow neon pink shirt with Celine across. And I'm just like, bro. Like, we want to see you on the court, not on the bench.

On the court, not on the bench. Tone it down. I don't know, maybe there's a little bit of professional dignity for myself. I'm saying, why do I want to draw attention to myself for what I'm wearing when what the people are paying me for?

I'm not even able to deliver that. Like if Tyrese Halliburton wants to walk around in Erkel pants and in tight sweaters that show his wrists and elbows, then that's his business. But there comes a point in time where it's just like, if I'm a Pacers fan, it's like, please, please show up and do the job first and then tell us about your interests later. Everybody's so, so tied into their brand and what they stand for.

Do what you're paid for first. And watching Tyrese Halliburton on the basketball court the other day, he was a ghost. Like he was uninterested.

Are we going to blame that on injury? Like just, just put the work in, man, and then dress and wear whatever you want. That's one thing I can't stand today about like the current players. Do the job first. You make enough money.

You worry about your brand later. I mean, there used to be a point in time where everything that you got came from your production on the court. I don't think people would tolerate Dennis Rodman and his behavior. I don't think people would care for Dennis Rodman sitting on the bench with green and red hair. If the man couldn't go out with a battery, unlike anybody that the NBA has ever seen.

And it's just like for everybody, just do your job, do what you're paid for, and then worry about the extra stuff later. Please do that. I am hoping just because of that, that the New York Knicks wax the Pacers. Do I believe that they'll end it? I'm not so sure.

I always thought the series was going to go six or seven games. I just don't like watching people not give effort. I don't care what it is. Work hard. If you're doing something, do your best.

Stop this half-assing nonsense. And speaking of the playoffs, this is not a good look right now for the Nuggets. It's early. The Minnesota Timberwolves have hit back. They lead the Nuggets after one quarter, 31 to 14. Nikolai Jokic, six points. Not the hot shooting game that he had the other night. Only three of eight shooting. And Anthony Edwards.

Oh, he's back and he's hot. 14 points here in the first quarter. The Timberwolves lead 31 to 14.

The second quarter is just under way. It's the J.R. Sportbri show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. 855-212-4227 is the number.

That's 855-212-4227. The benefits are here on the radio. I don't know what the hell you're wearing. And you don't know what I'm wearing. Unless you're a creep. When we come back on the other side, yeah, we're going to talk about some individuals who are known for wearing some nice suits.

You may never see them again. I'll explain on the other side. You're listening to the J.R. Sportbri show here on the Infinity Sports Network. Call from mom. Answer it.

It's the JR Sport Brief show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. Right before the break, I told you about how we have so many athletes who make things a fashion show right now. And that's cool if you're good. But if you suck, you can still be nice and show up to work without having to look like you fell out of a Dolce & Gabbana ad. If you play good, then go ahead and look good.

But if you suck, put on a sweat suit and go to work making everything about you. Anyway, I digress. I told you before the break that there's a bunch of individuals who wear nice clothes that we may never ever see again. And I have an explanation for you. I would venture to say if you're a fan of basketball, and maybe you're not a fan of basketball, you know all about the NBA on TNT. You know all about it. The NBA on TNT has existed for the better part of 40 years. And for just about the last 25 years. It has been one of the most entertaining things on television, whether you're a basketball fan or not, because of a guy named Charles Barkley. And so the NBA on TNT, it's a staple. You think about Ernie Johnson, but then you think about the past 25-ish years when they add a Kenny the Jet Smith, when they add a Charles Barkley, who is the heartbeat of the entire show.

And then you think about the last, I don't know, 10 years or so, when they added a Charles Barkley. This has been one of the best shows on television because they have fun. They don't take themselves too seriously. They're accomplished, but they're having fun.

They're shooting a you-know-what without being too buttoned up. And Charles Barkley is one of the most unique personalities that we have ever had on television. Flattened period.

I don't care what genre it is and what have you. Understand this. The NBA's media rights deal expires after next season.

That's it. And so the NBA has been negotiating with just about everybody. Expect announcements at some point after the postseason, after the finals, after the draft, to learn that the NBA will eventually be on Amazon and Disney and Disney ABC. But then also the NBA, it's been rumored that they're talking with NBC as well. And let's remember, for the entire 90s, the NBA on NBC, it was the thing.

The music came on. Michael Jordan obviously dominated into the 90s. The NBA on NBC just takes you back to a new level of nostalgia. And the fact is, if NBC decides to throw, I don't know, a couple of billion dollars at the NBA, the NBA might say bye to Turner. It might say bye to Warner Brothers Turner because they keep buying each other out every other year.

What does that mean? That could mean that there's no more the NBA on TNT. There's no more inside the NBA. That means that the show with Charles Barkley, Kenny the Jetsmith, Ernie Johnson and Shaq is done. It's been reported that if that were to happen, Ernie Johnson is not leaving. He's Mr. TNT.

He's Mr. Turner. He's going to stay and do baseball. It's been reported that Shaq may say, man, I don't need to work.

Well, I'm going to go work for Amazon for I'm done. It's been reported for years that Kenny the Jetsmith, he wants to work in management somewhere. And Charles Barkley, well, Charles Barkley can talk anywhere, but he made it clear he wants to do it with these guys. Well, they may not do it together. And Charles Barkley just had a show with Gayle King, so he's not afraid to show up for checks.

Well, who knows? We might see Charles Barkley, but this show as we know it, as we know it, it might be over. And so Charles Barkley, he was actually on the radio. Charles Barkley was on ESPN 100 and he was asked about what's going on with the NBA on TNT. Are we coming to a close?

Is it almost finished? This is what Charles Barkley had to say. Listen to the whole convo. We have zero idea what's going to happen. We might lose it. I mean, it's, it's, I feel so bad for the people I work with. I mean, it is brutal.

I mean, it is flat out brutal. Everybody's scared to death because, you know, this is the first time we have not signed it in that exclusive window, but just the first time doing the exclusive window, we did not resign in advance. So I will tell you this it's very stressful, uh, for, for the people I work with.

And I wish I could get you an answer. We might lose it. And, um, I don't know, uh, it's 50 50 that we lose our part to NBC, but we have no Adam Silver's going to ultimately make the final decision. Um, am I concerned 100% because as much as, as much as we have been partners with the NBA for, I think, 40 years, you would think if it was close and a bidding war, we would get the benefit of the doubt. But clearly that's not happening.

They're scared to death over here right now. I feel so bad for the people I work with. Oh man. Wow.

Yeah, it sucks. And so by the way, here in Atlanta, Georgia, I'm a, I'm a walk away from, from their studio. I walked there in 10 minutes and I've done the walk plenty of times because at one point before the pandemic, I was on NBA television. I contributed to a lot of their shows as a, as a host and work with Channing Fry. And so I know a lot of the people that, that Charles Barkley is referring to. There's a lot of people there in the building, whether they are camera operators based in Georgia, there's a huge set there, there rigs, there's art departments. There are people who work in digital and social media. People may not know this, but hey, Turner, Warner Brothers handles all of the NBA's digital, all of it.

The highlights you see, they handle all of it. Now is that going to stay or is that going to go? I have no idea. What happens to NBA television?

I have no idea. And so I could certainly understand everybody from makeup to rigs, to researchers, to statisticians, to producers. There's a, a big old team. They might be looking elsewhere if the NBA decides we don't want you anymore. And I mean, for an iconic show now, look, I'm not going to sit here and tell you I've seen every show, but this has to be, and this just flat is, this is one of the best programs that's been on television. Let me say that again. TV television that sports has ever seen. This has been one of the best programs, the NBA on TNT inside the NBA. It's been one of the best programs on TV for the past 30 years. I'll fight anybody over that. And to see that we only may have one more year of it.

It's tough. Everybody who sits on the set basically signed a 10 year contract extension. That's, that's if the NBA stays with TNT. That might not be the case. Or this could all blow over. Negotiations aren't done.

We didn't get nothing finalized. We'll see what happens. Hickey, that would suck. At that point, there'd be no reason to watch a, a pregame or a post game.

None, none, none whatsoever. Million percent. You're so right about that. You're so right about that. Which is also frustrating too is like, I almost wish if this, like, this show is obviously going to end at some point, right? Like even if the rights are renewed at some point, this show is going to be no more. Shaq's going to retire. Charles is going to retire. I wish like that show was ending with one of those guys or multiple, like walking away. Like it sucks. The fact that this show possibly could end because they lose the rights like that. That's it. That to me is more frustrating than Shaq waking up one day saying, you know, I don't want to do this.

Or Charles waking up one day saying, you know what? I got enough. I'm going to live life.

Yeah. And you know, maybe this is, nothing lasts forever. I think you live long enough. You realize that nothing lasts forever and you, you have to have enjoyed it. I can tell you there, there have been so many nights of watching the games and then staying up just to hear what they have to say. They have also been nights where I had no interest in the game, none, zero, like this game sucks, but I want to stick around for the 15, 20 minutes, 30 minutes that they're going to be on.

And when they sign off, I say to myself, Oh damn, I wish they would come back for one more break and it's gone. And I hate pregame. I could care less about pre or post game. Watching them has always been a joy.

Like ESPN's pregame, post game. I don't, I don't even know who's on Hickey. Does Jalen Rose still do it or is he gone? He's gone. Oh, he's gone.

The boot. Oh man. Like I know Paul Pierce is gone because he was hanging out with strippers, but it's Kendrick Perkins and Stephen, a and will bond. And I don't even know who else Malika, right?

Yup. You nailed it all. There's nothing. What's there besides Stephen, a yelling and who cares about that?

Like it's just people yelling about nothing. No, you're right. You're right.

Not a lot of, not a lot of laughs, especially at each other's expense. That's for sure. Yeah. Everything that's happened with, with, with Turner, it's been, it's been organic. Like realistically it's like, Hey, here's Kenny Smith and here's Ernie natural. Then they added Charles Barkley to the mix that just the three of them was absolutely amazing. And then they added Shaq like, I don't know, 10, 15 years later. And that, to be honest, I like Shaq. Is he necessary up there? No, but you know, his back and forth with Charles Barkley is great.

It's an amazing show. I mean, it was also revealed a few years ago that at one point in hello, Tara, August tower helped hire me over at NBA TV who ran all the talent over there. They were, they were trying to add Kobe Bryant to the mix. They wanted to add Kobe. And I think it's, Kobe was down with it until it was just like, well, you have to do this and all these other things. And Kobe was like, nah, no thanks.

I don't want to do that. And he ended up coaching his girls basketball team and, and got involved in the arts and then God rest his soul. It's been amazing. Best studio show that I can remember. The only other sports show that I've missed.

And I guess I didn't miss it that much. It was on Fox. It was that baseball show. I don't know what it was called inside MLB people. Hey, call me up.

People know the answer to this. What was that show on Fox that came on? It was all about baseball and now doesn't exist anymore because major league baseball is stupid. Call me up 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27.

That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 42 27. What was that great show that came on Fox about baseball? Call me up. And the other show that I missed was with Ahmad Rashad that used to come along with it was a basketball show.

I think it was inside the NBA. Those shows are gone. I'm going to get to your calls on the other side. I'll give you an update as well after Peter Schwartz. And then of course, I'm going to tell you about a few things that took place this day in sports history.

At the same time, I'm going to try to refresh my memory about television shows that I love that I can't remember. Dive into the start of summer at Whole Foods Market. Oh man. 57 to 36. The Timberwolves are smacking around the Nuggets. Hickey what do we we got a game seven huh? The Nuggets not gonna win this one right?

Right. I mean as long as the Timberwolves don't go into the halftime locker room the Lakers come out of the halftime locker room safe to say with a 21 point lead right before half we are heading to a game seven. I'm not yeah I'm not gonna count out Nikola Jokic from not a damn thing.

No you're right you can't. I'm not but if if they continue like this in any type of way uh yeah we we got ourselves a game seven that should be fun sign me up Anthony Edwards with 19 points if there's only about a minute left here in the first half a tale of two halves you never know what's going to happen you don't in a few minutes I'm going to share with you a few things that we absolutely know happened because it's recorded in history give me a few minutes I'm going to tell you quite a few things that happened this day in sports history and if you've been under a rock all day today is May 16th and the year is 2024. Hickey I had a Terminator reference uh that I cannot you wouldn't be familiar with um but I just thought it'd be cool I'm surprised I didn't think about it when we were doing the imaging. I am the Terminator. No he never said that close he no he never said that he said I'll be back ah that was it that you that you are that you've at least heard I have I have so this isn't as famous in Terminator but like in the first Terminator uh you know there's a human being that went back to beat up the robot or at least try to stop him for killing the the mother of the future you following I'm following okay and so the guy I'm not even going to go through his name he comes through a time portal and one of the first things he stops a police officer he's well the police officer stops him and he's like what day is it and he's like it's it's it's Tuesday he's like no what day he says May 15th he said no what year what year is it and the police officer looked at this guy like this guy on drugs you don't know what year it is he was like it's May 15th 1985 whatever day it was and so that was a Terminator reference and congratulations to everyone who knows what the hell I'm talking about anyway before we went to break I shared with you that inside the NBA the NBA on TNT it might be curtains next year is the last year that the NBA has a contract with Turner or Warner Brothers as it's now Warner Brother Discovery and uh it's cat is out the bag like they may continue on for the next five to ten years or next year could be it NBC could pick basketball backup we might have the NBA on NBC again everybody remembers that from the 90s it was like Michael Jordan's it was like his show I mean because he was busting everybody's ass the finals all of it the jazz everybody that'd be cool to see but I'd miss I'd miss Shaq and Kenny and Ernie and Charles Bart I'd miss him and then I started to think about some of the other sports shows that you know I missed they're not a lot of them and I couldn't think of the name I thought of it I know what it is one is with Ahmed Ahmad Rashad excuse me former Vikings running back and that was Inside Stuff and the other one I know the name I thought about it with Mel Allen but I'm gonna bring in the caller 855-212-4227 Mark is here from Nova Scotia I'll let Mark tell everybody what my favorite baseball show was Mark you're on the JR Sport Reshow go ahead JR every Sunday for I don't know how many years starting probably like in the late 80s for me as a kid this week in baseball look forward to it I agree wholeheartedly with what Hickey said it would be and with you this is first of all you know TNT that show I can't imagine it just ending that would be a shame if it ended because they lose their rights I want to say one other thing I'm saying a lot of things I was originally going to call about the Rangers and I had his whole script in my head and being I was going to go on about only three teams that blew a three nothing lead and it looks bad and I was going to tell me and you're going to complain about the hurricanes spoil well I was going to say that they were choking bad and then I I literally was on hold and they just won anyway five to three spoiler alert I guess the Rangers just won the series so but your update Peter Schwartz let everybody know I appreciate you letting me uh call in sports is crazy and I love your show well thank you Mark I appreciate you for calling from Nova Scotia how's the weather up there the weather is actually pretty good um like so I would say low 70s I try to do the conversion in my head I was going to ask you I was going to ask you don't give me no sense of grade or Celsius hit me with the Fahrenheit we're doing okay probably right now right now probably like I down about 60 but but we've been hitting we've hit in 70 like early 70s mid 70s it's pretty good for me yeah no you put your coat away right no more coat no more coat well we're tough we have shorts or we're used to the cold air we're not short we're not Atlanta though but yeah that's all right well hey when you come don't sweat okay sounds good all right thank you thank you mark for calling from Nova if mark came down he'd probably be sweating like a pig I don't know today was 85 it was nice hey I hate you I don't know what that what's the weather in New York is it nice uh no I mean it was 65 and raining today so no oh crap yeah yuck it was like 80 something a couple days ago and then it went down to what 60 again I mean that's New York in the spring for you get a little tease one day of what it could be one day of why am I living here when this could be my reality every single day and then boom right back to 20 degrees and uh chillier and gray uh gray skies oh gray skies yeah yeah gray skies reminds me of a couple of uh sports teams it used to be the lions and now the skies are they're blue hanalulu blue yeah good good for the lions good for them yeah let's see what happens with these uh these Denver these Denver Nuggets and the Minnesota Timberwolves they've officially reached halftime of the T-wolves lead the Nuggets 59 to 40 right now Anthony Edwards leading the way with 19 points Carl Anthony Towns is asleep he has six points but 10 rebounds and then Nikola Jokic 16 points five rebounds Jamal Murray has two points one of 10 from the field the man who shouldn't even been playing for a game who threw that damn hot heating pack on the the court one of 10 from the field yeah Nikola Jokic is going to need some help and so there is some hope here 20 points is not not that huge if the Minnesota Timberwolves keep their foot on their necks yeah it's it's going to be curtains but we've seen we've seen some uh larger odds that have been overcome eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven eight five five two one two forty two twenty seven I think we've reached the point of the show where it's time for me to get into my time machine and just uh go way back let's go it's time for this day in sports history you see back in those days we had radio and you couldn't see anything and it was primitive and lousy and we liked it on the jr sport brief show i wish i was 50 years younger and i'd kick your ass oh my god hickey that gets me every time it is funny that guy timeless yeah i don't want to that's larry merchant trying to fight floyd mayweather jr if i was 50 years old i'd kick your ass anyway let's go back back back back back back back back what do we got here first hey let's go back to 1977 because on this day may 16th in 1977 you might have heard of this guy Muhammad Ali he had a title defense alfredo evangelista he beat him up in maryland well it was a unanimous decision he beat him up and this man won another fight Muhammad Ali won another fight just like his fourth win after like four straight years i mean over four years he's beaten up on Kenton Norton he beat Frazier he beat Foreman in Africa and then we know Muhammad Ali is the greatest right well he was the greatest on the microphone as well because after the fight the great Muhammad Ali had a conversation with one of my favorite broadcasters of all time howard cole sell and Muhammad Ali via abc he told him he reminded us all that he was the greatest your reflexes weren't what they used to be tonight no heavyweight i am that 22 year old boy can dance 15 hours like i did so i'm not what i used to be to show you i'm a legend the greatest fight in the history world off man 35 fat as you say still i can out dance any heavyweight in the history boxing it shows i'm in the class i'm home all right getting that dance through the whole fight leaving aside your performance tonight you all notice i don't say oh i dunked that ish not dunking any ish he ain't ducking nothing ali was the greatest that took place in 1977 let's keep things rolling let's fast forward just a little bit let's go to may 16 1980 because there was a guy matter of fact he's not just a guy he's not just a guy his name is magic in 1980 magic johnson who happened to be a rookie helped the los angeles lakers get the philadelphia 76s the hell out of here in six games to win a championship magic johnson tipped off at center decided to score 42 points at center replacing the injured kareem abdul jabbar magic johnson magic is all hell take a listen to this courtesy of cbs stolen by nixon on the bad pass norman comes back and here's magic inside for the layup send him to the free throw line chance for the three-point play 35 points for the rookie nine on the shot clock whip it inside to magic 38 points there it is it's over and the most valuable player is magic johnson 42 points 15 rebounds and seven assists he starts at center plays forward and guard and leads the los angeles lakers to a world championship 123 107 over philadelphia without kareem abdul jabbar this man this man comes over from michigan state wins a championship as a rookie comes to the los angeles lakers wins his first championship his first out of five with the lakers and and comes down as one of the greatest players one of the greatest point guards one of the greatest basketball players ever everybody got a everybody got a an up-close personal view of magic right out of the gate in the nba hey thank you magic johnson for everything you've done for the game and everything you've done for
