You expected someone else? So what exactly is the show about? I don't know. It's a sports show nominally. Football's over, but we're finally at a point where things matter in college basketball and baseball season is on deck. Greatest three words in the English language, pitchers and catchers.

We have some of the best voices come on and explain what matters and what makes an upset like Ryan does. Nine over eight. No, that's not an upset.

No. Yeah, it is, Bob. And if you're lucky, I might just tell you about my search for discounted sleep pants or my worries about what my dog just ate. Listen on the Odyssey app or wherever you get your podcasts. It is the J.R. Sportbree show here with you on CBS Sports Radio.

I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Much love and many thanks to everybody tuned in and locked in all over North America. Happy Wednesday. Happy middle of the week.

I'll be hanging out with you for the next two hours. We've already had a busy two. If you've missed a minute or second of the show, it's simple.

Hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. We've had some more free agent signings. What else is new? Joe Flacco is joining the Indianapolis Colts. Is he really going to be a backup to Anthony Richardson or is he basically, you know, on the job? Anthony Richardson can't stay healthy to save his damn life. And then we've had guys who've been released. Mike Williams has been given the boot from the San Diego Chargers, now the Los Angeles Chargers. You have Michael Thomas. Michael Thomas has been let go here from the Saints.

They basically said that this man could not pass a physical. And so free agency continues to roll on here in the N F L. And so we got we got more to do. Now we can fade out. Here we go.

We got more to do here over the remaining two hours of the show. You talked about Garrett Cole. No injury there. Well, no torn UCL, no torn ligament, but he's going out to Los Angeles to get checked out.

You may have heard by now Dylan Cease is going to be a member of the Padres, no longer the White Sox. So there's this free agent movement and trade movement all over the world of sports. March Madness is pretty much getting underway. We got conference championships. We got selection Sunday.

That's coming up in a few days. It is just it's just wild. Like we're not even in the baseball season.

The NBA is still rolling along. It just it's just news all over the place. Look, we've talked a lot of free agency over the past week and days, especially as it relates to the NFL.

And as I do every Wednesday on the show, I bring you a new top six list. And this top six for tonight was pretty much pretty much established last week. And I think it was a caller who had the idea or maybe not. Maybe I'm stealing the idea, but who cares, right? Doesn't matter.

Maybe I came up with myself. Tonight's top six list because of all the movement and free agency and the NFL players going and coming and what have you. I wanted to share with you some of the most impactful free agent signings in the world of sports. We know that just over the past week, we got Kirk Cousins going to the Atlanta Falcons.

We know that we have Russell Wilson going on to the Steelers. There's there's bigger deals that we've seen in sports in a general sense. Free agency is not all that old. When we have to think about free agency, that old. When we have to think about the NBA, the NFL, we're talking about leagues that have really only embraced free agency for the better part of, you know, 35, 40 years in the NFL. Free agency didn't get going until 1993. The NBA didn't start free agency until about five years before that. We can go back to the 70s and it took it took lawsuits.

OK, thank you, Mr. Kurt Flood. It took lawsuits before we had dudes like Catfish Hunter and Reggie Jackson, who were getting contracts. And you could thank the New York Yankees for just buying everybody right out of the gate. So but outside of baseball. Free agency. Pretty new. Pretty new, depending on how old you are. So tonight, without further ado, I want to take a look at some of the biggest, most impactful free agent signings that we have seen in the world of sports. And without wasting any more time, here's the nice music.

Six, five, four, three, two, one. It's time to get JR's latest top six list only on the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Brief show here with you on CBS Sports Radio. Taking a look at some of the biggest, most impactful free agent signings that we have ever seen in the world of sports. Yeah, free agency officially started today in the NFL, but I have some bigger names that we've seen over the past 30, 40 years that have made a massive difference wherever the hell they went.

So let's not waste any more time. You want to talk about our big free agent signing? It's a top six list. So we have to start with this number right here.

Number six. Well, this one wasn't all that too long ago because in 2016, Kevin Durant said, I'm done in Oklahoma City. I'm joining the Warriors. Kevin Durant, after just being defeated, knocked out of the postseason by the Golden State Warriors, said, well, if I can't beat him, I'm going to join him and join him.

He did. The Golden State Warriors with Kevin Durant won two more championships and Kevin Durant was the best player on both of those teams. Finals MVP, two titles and pretty difficult to say when, I don't know, Steph Curry's on the squad, but Kevin Durant was the man.

He will be chastised forever for being a front runner, having burner accounts. But then when the going got tough, Draymond Green seemed like a pain in the ass. We didn't need you to win. And then when the going got tough, despite all of this, Kevin Durant tried to push through injury, tried to play hurt, injured, busted up leg against the Raptors in the finals, missed some time, came back for the finals just to try to help them win. His legs said no. He blew out his Achilles. The Raptors won a championship.

And I mean, damn it, if Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson were healthy, the Warriors would have whooped that ass too. Listen, he ultimately left for Brooklyn, got tired of the politics and then ended up with more politics in Brooklyn. But he left.

And how about this? Ironically, Isaiah Thomas, speaking of a NBA champion, he was chatting it up with Draymond Green, former teammate of Kevin Durant. And Isaiah Thomas did not hold back on the Draymond Green show. He basically said, listen, Draymond, Kevin Durant, the guy who signed with your team, he helped save your team's legacy and helped get you those championships.

Listen to this. Before Kevin Durant arrived in Golden State, Golden State, y'all were on the verge of and being, and being remembered as the team that went 73-9 and lost to the Cleveland Cavalier team in the finals, 3-1. You were up 3-1. And probably one of the biggest collapse in NBA Finals history from the 73-9 historical team. Kevin Durant comes that summer and really saves y'all basketball legacy. And you win two championships after that. And now you're the Golden State Warriors dynasty that you're going to go into the Hall of Fame on and everything else.

It is cemented because if Durant don't come that summer and you guys are remembered as the 73-9 team that lost 3-1 in the NBA Finals, all of your legacies are different. He ain't lying. Draymond Green had to sit there and just kind of shake his head yes.

What are you going to do, say he was telling a lie? You want to talk about one of the most impactful signings in NBA history and sports history? It's Kevin Durant going to the Golden State Warriors, helping to cement another dynasty, helping elevate the Klay Thompson's and the Draymond's of the world.

And Isaiah Thomas did not tell a lie. I got that at number six. Top free agent, most impactful signings in sports history. What's the next number? Number five.

Well, I like this one. We're going to the NFL. And if you think about this man's contract, you go, that's it. That's all he made. Well, he was probably the first major free agent signing because free agency was brand new in 1993 in the NFL.

This was the first year that players could move around. And I like this guy. Unfortunately, he's not here with us anymore. It's the minister of defense, Reggie White, after eight seasons, knocking people silly with the Eagles. Reggie White goes to the Packers and he helps get them back to the ultimate success.

And he has the ultimate success himself. In 1993, he signed a four year, $17 million contract with the Packers. OK, you got defenders who are making like 20 and 25 plus million dollars a year.

They're making 30 plus million dollars a year. Reggie White was only getting 17. Christian McCaffrey is making 16.

OK, he's making running back money. Six years in Green Bay. Reggie White had almost 70 sacks. He was the defensive player of the year in 1998, and he helped Green Bay get back to and win a championship over the New England Patriots in 1997 when Reggie White signed that contract, signed that deal in 1993.

He had a couple of reasons. One of them had to be Coach Holmgren. Listen to this with great pride. Introduce the newest member of the green and gold, Reggie White.

Go ahead and shoot your questions. Reggie White, Green Bay. Well, you know, I was really impressed when I came up here the first time. I told Coach Holmgren when we sat in and met the first time, I said Green Bay was the farthest day from my mind. But I was really impressed with the coaching staff, with the whole organization and with the direction the team is going. I think they have a total commitment to winning. Well, winning is what they did, and he helped them out. They were able to acquire that guy named Brett Favre, who happened to be the best player on our offense, ended up being an Ironman after kicking his drug addiction. And then you got Reggie White, who did nothing but go out there and absolutely destroy the opposition. You want to talk about a big town free agent? We can look at all the players that are moving and shaking in the NFL right now. The first big name in the league to ever move was Reggie White when he decided to leave Green Bay or excuse me, leave Philadelphia and go to Green Bay. I got Reggie White number five on the list. Top six free agent signings in sports. Reggie White five. What do we have at this number?

Number four. We got a cheater. I couldn't help myself.

I'm sorry. We got a cheater. We got an egomaniac. We got one of the most selfish athletes that I can ever remember in the world of professional sports. He just so happens to be one of the greatest baseball players of all time, and he's a cheater. Alex Rodriguez.

Sorry. Back in 2000, I remember this vividly. Alex Rodriguez was a free agent. He was free to move on from the Seattle Mariners.

He could go whatever the hell he wanted to. Alex Rodriguez was going on a tour. Even the New York Mets hosted him on a tour.

And Alex Rodriguez, he left. And it's just like Steve Phillips said that Alex Rodriguez wanted to be 24 plus one. He wanted to be his own team. He wanted his own merchandise tent. I guess he wanted his own locker room. Alex Rodriguez wanted to play baseball in his own stadium.

OK, yeah, sure. Gross exaggeration, but you get the point. At the time, Alex Rodriguez Alex Rodriguez signed the most valuable contract in sports history with the Rangers. OK, I'm talking about 10 years, two hundred and fifty two million dollars in the year 2000. This is what they gave Alex Rodriguez. I looked at the deal and I said, what?

Anyway, we know how that went. Ultimately, the Yankees acquired him his salary. Ultimately, he opted out. And then, oh, yeah, by the way, we found out that Alex Rodriguez was a cheater. Listen to this from the AP. There are allegations of steroid use about one of baseball's power hitters, who many consider to be the top player in the game. Sports Illustrated is reporting Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez, known as A-Rod, tested positive for steroid use in 2003. The magazine says it confirmed the results with four sources and says when it approached Rodriguez, he declined to answer, referring questions to the players union instead. AP baseball writer Ben Walker says it's not a complete surprise. Many years ago, Jose Canseco in a book even linked Alex Rodriguez and steroids. But that said, in this day and era, there's no name that you could hear that you would be completely shocked and surprised by. It's just the way and times of baseball.

Oh, come on now. Like who? Who surprised that sheet and baseball?

Nobody. I could have a Barry Bonds on this list. I could have right.

Going from Pittsburgh to San Francisco. But when you talk about Alex Rodriguez, his status, his standing in the game, you think about how money, how much money he made in that contract, 10 years, 252 ridiculous at the time. I mean, you have to look at a basketball player and Kevin Garnett and go, oh, well, Kevin Garnett is making what, 120 something? Alex Rodriguez said, oh, my lunch. And then he got into trouble. And then he was caught cheating. And then he tried to sue. And then he's not getting into the Hall of Fame. Not now, at least. A big deal for Alex Rodriguez.

You want to talk about big contracts? I got a rod at number four. What's next?

Number three. Oh, this is much more recent. Much more recent. Let's go back. Not that we want to revisit 2020. What a crap year that was, right?

Covid year. That's also the year that Tom Brady said, I'm gone, I'm out. Tom Brady said, I'm not dealing with Belichick anymore. Tom Brady said, I am packing up my bags. I'm going to Tampa Bay. I mean, there was even stories about how Tom Brady tried to work out at Byron Leftwich's house, which was illegal.

He had to try to work out outside. A whole bunch of nonsense. Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn't have the easiest run. Tom Brady signed with them at 42 years old. You didn't know how long he was going to be around, how long he was going to last.

It's like year to year. Thirty million dollars after 20 years and six championships up in New England. A fresh start for Tom Brady with no Belichick. And what did he do?

People were saying he was throwing ducks in November. This man won another Super Bowl MVP come February as the Buccaneers smashed the Chiefs 31 to nine as Patrick Mahomes ran for his life behind a crap offensive line on a bum leg. And Tom Brady picked up his seventh championship. Let me remind you, Tom Brady has more championships than any franchise has rings. And so after Tom Brady won the Super Bowl, of course, Tom Brady spoke on the field with CBS and he's like, listen, I ain't comparing my championships, but this one is special, too. With all that you've done, where does this rank? Is this the crowning achievement?

I'm not putting any making any comparisons. I know being down here and experiencing it with this group of guys is every year is amazing. And this team is world champions forever. You can't take it away from us. So thank you, guys.

Thank you all. You can't take away Tom Brady. Tom Brady has set the benchmark. Tom Brady just might be the Bill Russell of the NBA or the NFL. He might be the dude that that nobody catches in our lifetime might not be. That's why I got Tom Brady here at number three on the list.

Top six free agent signings in the world of sports. Tom Brady three. What's the next one?

Number two. We got to go to Connecticut for this one. There was a guy who decided to let the world know what he was going to do with his career. And he decided to go to Connecticut.

This is LeBron James. Yes, I'm talking about the television special. I'm talking about the decision that benefited the Boys and Girls Club. Why in Connecticut? I have no idea.

But they did it there. Some relationship with someone. LeBron James sat down with Jim Gray and decided to let the world know I am breaking up with the city that helped raise me. And I'm going on vacation to Miami and to win a lot of championships. Listen to this from ESPN. The answer to the question everybody wants to know, LeBron, what's your decision? And this fall is very tough. And this fall, I'm going to take my talents to South Beach and join the Miami Heat.

Miami Heat. That was the conclusion you woke up with this morning. That was the conclusion I woke up with this morning.

Why? Like I said before, I feel like it's a tough situation. I feel like I'm going to be the best opportunity to win and to win for multiple years. And not only just to win in a regular season or just to win five games in a row or three games in a row.

I want to be able to win championships and I feel like I can compete down there. Well, Compiti did. It took a while. He wanted to get Pat Riley in as the coach. Eric Spolster stuck around. They had to lose to the Dallas Mavericks in the finals. But then they did win. They won two championships. And this was basically college for LeBron James. He originally signed a six year, 110 million dollar contract to join the Miami Heat and join Chris Bosh and join Dwayne Wade. They walked away with two titles and then LeBron James went home and then he won a title in Cleveland and he won the Cleveland.

This one is for you. And he won one in the bubble with the Lakers. LeBron now has four titles.

Congratulations. He also has a lot of other crap like the scoring title. Most points ever that would take forever to discuss. Now you want to talk about a major free agent signing LeBron James. OK, you want to talk about super teams. LeBron James.

LeBron James is just a leader in a lot of stuff, right? It's the J.R. Smith. It's the J.R. Smith. It's the J.R. Smith. It's a lot of stuff, right? It's the J.R. Sportbrief Show here with you on CBS Sports Radio.

We're talking about the biggest, most impactful free agent signings that we have ever seen in the world of sports. We come back on the other side of the break. I'm going to share with you number one.

It's the J.R. Sportbrief Show, CBS Sports Radio. Oh, should we start this show? Yeah, I'm down. Just buying a car and carvana first. Oh, for real? Yeah, it's super convenient. I already got prequalified in two minutes. All I had to do is answer a few questions. Oh, that's helpful. And now just customizing my down and monthly payments. Oh, that's a very fair deal. Yep.

Listen on the Odyssey app or wherever you get your podcasts. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Radio. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you on CBS Sports Radio. Hey, this is Nas. This is one mic.

We don't need one mic. In a few seconds, I'm about to share with you number one. I'm about to share with you number one, the number one free agent signing, the most impactful free agent signing, the biggest free agent contract that's ever been given out in the world of sports. I'm going to do that momentarily. 855-212-4CBS is the number.

It's 855-212-4CBS. If I have to think about some of the biggest free agents signing in sports, let's start off here. At number six, I gave you Kevin Durant to the Warriors.

At number five, I gave you Reggie White to the Packers. At number four at the time, the biggest contract in the world of professional sports. Alex Rodriguez going to the Texas Rangers, 10 years, 252 million dollars. We know how that contract ended up. And number three, talked about Tom Brady. Tom Brady to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And number two, it's LeBron James. LeBron James and his decision to go to Miami, leaving behind his family, friends, where he grew up, which all he knew was Cleveland.

Not a bad idea to leave Cleveland for Miami, right? I think Joe Kim Noah would agree with that. And so, free agency, not all at all. You know, I'd mentioned the catfish hunters of the world and the Reggie Jacksons, and we can go on and on. I can mention Tom Chambers and what have you.

But that's, this is the list. And so if I have LeBron and his decision at number two, that really only leaves us with this number right here. Number one, if I want to talk about the biggest free agent signing, if I want to talk about the biggest deal, the biggest contract, it's one that just took place in December. It's Shohei Ohtani getting a 700 million dollar deal for 10 years to play baseball for the Dodgers.

They gave this guy 700 million dollars. And Shohei Ohtani, like his arm doesn't even work right now. Shohei Ohtani cannot throw the baseball. He's 29 pushing 30.

I know he's a freak of nature. And not only are they just paying him like 10 years, 700 million dollars, the most money paid to anybody, any human ever in professional sports. They're going to pay him for 20 years because the first 10 years of his contract are deferred.

This is stupid. He's only getting 2 million dollars a year for the next 10. Because it's Shohei Ohtani. I can make all my money in endorsements in Japan. Hey Dodgers, pay me 10 years after the deal. They're going to be paying this man for 20 years. After the first 10 years when the contract is done, they're going to say here's 68 million dollars for the next 10 years. I don't even know how this contract is legal, but it is.

And why do I have this at number one? Because there's either a bubble that is about to burst or a major precedent has been set. I was on the air in New York City, WFAN on a Saturday afternoon when this deal was announced. And I had to say to myself, 10 years, 700 million bucks? What does this mean for sports? Is it going to collapse into itself or are we one day legitimately going to have an athlete who signs a contract for, dare I say, one billion dollars? When you think about the influence of streamers like Amazon and Netflix and the value in live sports, are we going to get there or Shohei Ohtani kind of hitting the max before people go, wait, this is way, way, way too much money.

I remember when the news is broke or when the news broke. I want you to listen to this. Shohei Ohtani getting all the cash. I want you to listen to this announcement back in December from CBS Sports. Breaking news from Major League Baseball where Shohei Ohtani is signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The two-way superstar will get a 10-year deal worth 700 million dollars, far and away the largest contract in the history of North American sports. The 29-year-old is coming off his second career MVP award when he led the American League in home runs, slugging percentage, and on base percentage. He also went 10 and 5 with a 3.14 ERA across 23 starts. And he got a big old scar on his arm.

And he can't throw the ball this year. And they're like, who cares? We're the Dodgers.

We throw money at everything. Look at the inside of Shohei Ohtani's arm. He got a scar from like the middle of his forearm to the inside.

But who cares? He's going to go out there and hit 40, 45 home runs. And he's going to steal 20, 25 bases.

And he's going to be one of the best hitters in the game. And they're paying this man 700 million dollars. I think just based on where we are in the world of sports right now, this is the biggest, most impactful contract that we have seen. Have we seen the results yet?

No, of course not. We got to wait 10 years to see what happens. The Dodgers ain't going to have no problem paying it 20 years from now because they're like, hey, we're going to be making money hand over fist. And yeah, there have been other deals. Impactful in sports from a global basis, I thought domestically here. How about Messi coming over to join Miami?

What about his rival, Ronaldo, playing in Saudi Arabia? Yeah, there have been other deals. I thought conventionally here. The phone lines are open to you right now. That's 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. If I have to think about the biggest free agent signings in sports, here's a recap. I got Durant to the Warriors at six. I got Reggie White to the Packers at five. I got A-Rod to the Rangers at four. I got Brady to the Bucks at three. I got LeBron to Miami at two. And I got Shohei Ohtani at number one. 855-212-4CBS. That's 855-212-4CBS.

What are some of the other big, gigantic, large, impactful free agent signings that we've seen in the world of sports? The phone lines are open to you. We'll get to your calls on the other side of the break. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. The JR Sport Brief Show here with you on CBS Sports Radio. I just shared with you a new top six list.

Talked about the top six free agent signings that we have seen in the world of sports. They've had major impact. Big time impact. And well, one of them, we have yet to see the full impact.

It might take us 10 to 15 years. If you missed the full list and the explanations, listen to the last break. Listen to this whole hour on the free Odyssey app.

You can actually hear from the players themselves why they signed, the impact of their signing. Let me give you a quick recap and then I'll get to the phone lines. It's 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. And number six, talked about Kevin Durant going to the Golden State Warriors. And number five, Reggie White leaving the Philadelphia Eagles to join the Green Bay Packers. And number four, I gave you Alex Rodriguez to the Texas Rangers. And number three, I gave you Tom Brady leaving the New England Patriots after 20 years to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he of course won a championship, his first damn year there and ended up with seven titles.

And number two, I gave you LeBron James and his decision. And at number one, what I find to be the biggest, most impactful free agent signing that we have seen in the world of sports, it's Shohei Ohtani. Yeah, the man hasn't even played a game in his new contract. He's pretty much signed for 20 years. It's 10 years of deal, another 10 years of deferrals. This contract is nuts. And what does this mean for sports? That one guy is guaranteed $700 million.

It's crazy. If the impacts on Ohtani's contract are just going to bleed crazy. If he's getting 700 mil, is there a guy in sports that's going to make more than Shohei Ohtani at some point? You're going to give a single player because they treat him like he's two people. Like unless we got another guy, unless we got to maybe one day in the NFL, hardly. It's impossible, right, to have a guy play quarterback and then he can also go out there and play on a defensive line.

Never. Not going to happen. In basketball, typically you're playing offense and defense. So how the hell can you have a guy play, quote unquote, two positions?

You can't do it. In hockey, we're not going to have anybody, you know, play goalie on one end and then just leave an empty net and just go score on the other side. Not happening. Baseball is unique. I don't know if anybody's going to top this 700. And maybe they start to, maybe they being the owners, maybe they start to suppress the salary sooner than later. I don't know. Shohei Ohtani's contract is an interesting one, to say the least.

855-212-4CBS. We're talking about some of the biggest signings in free agency. Yeah, there's the Randy Johnson's of the world.

You know, we can start thinking historically catfish hunter. Let's talk to Alan from Toronto. Alan, you're CBS Sports Radio, the JR Sportbreeze Show.

What's going on? Yeah, hi, JR. Great show as always. Jack Morris, he came to Minnesota as a hired gun. He was 14 years in Detroit and the team went from worst to first. They were 74-88 in 1990 and 95-67 in 1991 and he captured the World Series. And then he, you know, he's from Minnesota, so not only did he skip town, he skipped the country to come to Toronto and he won another World Series in 1992. He was 18-12 in the Twin Cities and 21-9. He did very well in Toronto. He faded after that. He was 7-12, but you know, he had a big impact in three different World Series, 1984, 1991 and 1992. And he would have continued.

He had, he pitched 129 pitches in that Game 7. Tom Kelly tried to remove him and he resisted. He said, no, you're not taking me out.

Don't you dare. He said, you know, he would have gone out in the 10th inning. He would have just continued. So it's, this man, I call him a hired gun because he came to, came to Toronto and came to Minnesota and captured two World Series. Well, there's a reason that this man is in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Alan, I appreciate you for talking about what he certainly went out there and did on the field and his on the field and his success. I got a question for you. It sounds like you're calling me from a different phone, Alan.

Where the hell are you at? Oh, I just put on the radio. I just wanted to hear myself.

Okay. The radio is off now. I just, no, no, it has nothing to do with the radio. You sound like you, you got a new phone.

Like it's something different. Yeah. I'm using a landline.

Landlines are a little better than cell phones. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely.

You sound crystal clear, man. Well, I didn't know maybe you were back here in the States. I knew something was different. Yeah.

Yeah. We, we, we're old school. We still use landlines. There's not too many of us around anymore, but you know. Who's we in your house?

Yeah, my wife and I. No, no, no. Landlines are reliable. I mean, hey, look, if something happens, you're going to be the only one with a connection, right? Yeah, exactly. Yeah.

So I'm going to do my very best to, to use the landline from now on. Hey, good, good, good man. Well, thank you, Alan. Appreciate you. Yeah. Jack is a, that's a pretty good, a pretty good call.

Isn't it? All right. No doubt. Okay. I'll catch you soon, Alan.

Okay. All right, Alan, thank you for calling from Toronto. 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. Of course. I mean, Alan from Toronto, he had to mention a Toronto Blue Jay when it came down to someone contributing and being a top free agent signing. And we know things are all about the money. Things are all about the cash. You know, we talked about this story.

Well, this individual, let me just switch gears for a minute. We're talking about athletes making all this money, teams going out here, giving away all this cash. A couple of months ago, I told you about a former executive in the financial department for the Jacksonville Jaguars. This man basically had access to their funds and basically embezzled about $22 million from the team. This man stole money, went on ridiculous trips, gambled a lot of this money away. So much so that the Jacksonville Jaguars actually reached out to the gambling company and said, hey, this man stole the money. Can you give it back? Gambling companies like, no, that's not our fault that he stole it from you. And so it's just it's wild what we have in this world right now in this individual.

Well, as you can probably guess, he has been sentenced to prison. And so if you need an example not to steal from your job, steal their time, steal your job's time, take their time. Do not take their money, especially to the tune of $22 million. I think if you're the Jaguars, you probably deserve being taken for a ride because you're idiots for not having a system of checks and balances. So one guy doesn't steal $22 million.

But I digress. Let's let's go to Jacksonville right now. Let's listen to news for Jacksonville as they let everybody know that their former employee, well, he's going to prison. A downfall from luxury living from flying on a private jet to a Jaguars game, the lounging on a boat in Miami for an international racing event. This former Jaguars employee, who embezzled millions from the team because he said he has a gambling addiction is preparing to head to prison.

He did not respond when news for Jack's reporter and Maxwell tried to question him moments after he heard his sentence. We understand the gambling addiction argument, but what about the country club membership, the trips? 31 year old Amit Patel faced a judge today who told him he will spend more than six years in federal prison for his crimes. He spent most of the money he stole from the Jaguars on online online sports gambling, but also on personal expenses such as lavish vacations, private jets, spa treatments, concerts, sporting events, a $95,000 watch and more. Yeah, well, yeah, you got a gambling addiction.

What the hell does gambling ought to do with your massages? Who does he think he is? I'll say his name.

I'll do it. Hold on. Who does he think he is?

Deshaun Watson? Yeah, terrible joke. Well, come on, man. Like, don't say I got a gambling addiction and what's I got to do with you flying on a plane? I still think it's hilarious that the Jacksonville Jaguars, they asked FanDuel for the money back. It was FanDuel, the gambling company that this guy put so much money in. FanDuel is like, uh, no, this man spent about $20 million on FanDuel. Yes, you heard me correctly.

FanDuel is like, you figured out yourself, not our problem. How dumb could this guy be? Geez. Oh, he was asking for prison.

Wow. Now he's going to go to prison for about six and a half years. He got his wish.

He did. What do you think he's going to do when he gets out of prison? New York Jets will hire him, right?

I would say the Jets or Wash, Rinse, Repeat. Yeah, they'll, I don't know, maybe he can join the campaign of, who the hell is running for president? RFK and Aaron Rogers. Maybe he can do their books. That would be some cabinet, no? He could be what, a secretary of finance, financial secretary? Why not? Maybe he just goes into the Treasury Department. Oh, there you go.

22, 20. You know what? Some things, and people said, and it makes all the sense in the world to go, hey, it's an inside job. He couldn't have done this by himself. There's somebody else. Where is this other person? We haven't heard about this other person. We haven't heard about these two and three, four other people that helped him steal the money or turned a blind eye. Where's the culpability for other people?

I have no idea. Maybe in another 10 years, we'll get the story. Let me tell you something. I'm not a huge movie guy. I don't got the attention span to sit down and watch a movie.

You tell me, watch a movie. I hear nap. I'm going to take a nap. I'm going to sleep. I would pay to see a well-produced film on the Jaguars employee who stole $20 million from the damn team.

How? And now he's going to prison for six and a half years. I'm also going to be interested to see, literally, not joking, you know, not joking, say, hey, the Jets will be stupid enough to hire him. I want to know what job he's going to get when he gets out.

But in six and a half years, I probably won't even remember this guy unless they make a movie about him. I was going to say congratulations for going to prison, but what a way to go for. That's ridiculous. Shout outs to people who are actually holding it down. If you're holding it down, you know what the hell I mean.

Much love to you. Not this idiot, though. That guy's stupid.

It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you on CBS Sports Radio. Hey, you could rob a team in free agency or you could rob a team like this guy. At least somebody like A-Rod can rob the team.

He doesn't have to go to prison. 855-212-4CBS. That's 855-212-4CBS. I'm going to get some more of your calls to the top free agents. And guess what? Kirk Cousins, he had his introductory press conference. Don't move.

We'll hear him. What's the first thing you'd do if you'd had more time in the day? Take a nap? Read a book?

You expected someone else? So what exactly is the show about? I don't know. It's a sports show nominally. Football's over, but we're finally at a point where things matter in college basketball and baseball season is on deck. Greatest three words in the English language, pitches and catches.

We have some of the best voices come on and explain what matters and what makes an upset, like Ryan does. Nine over eight. No, that's not an upset. No. Yeah, it is, Bob.
