I get started every single weeknight at 10 p.m. Eastern, 7 Pacific. Obviously, we had a Thursday night football game. The Philadelphia Eagles come out on top. The final score, 34 to 28. We've been talking about the game. We've been listening to some of the players and the coaches after the game. It ended up being a close one, a good one. It looked like it might be an ass-kick and a blowout.

But Minnesota, despite all of their turnovers, all four turnovers, they were able to stay in the game. Right before we went to break, we talked about this situation with Stephon Diggs, his brother Trevon, saying, man, I need to get my brother the hell up on out of there. Reporter caught on a hot mic questioning the, I don't want to say the integrity, but just questioning Stephon Diggs, like he's difficult to deal with and speak to as a member of the media. And then she apologized.

I was just joking. So even more to discuss up in Buffalo, also a big thank you and many thanks. We had a legend join us earlier on in the show. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar came through here with us on CBS Sports Radio. We talked about everything going on in the NBA. Victor Wimbenyama, his thoughts on the Lakers, the big men in the league, Jokic and Embiid, USA Basketball. And so thank you so much to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for joining us.

If you missed the interview, you can hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. And you know what, maybe, maybe, just maybe, because it's Kareem, it's a rarity, maybe, just maybe, probably play it again tomorrow as we get ready for another week or weekend, I should say, of football. Obviously, we have the games on Sunday. We got a game, a bunch of games on Saturday in a college space. And then we're going to get into that, too, because there's a game, a late game on Saturday night that most people would probably watch just because of Deion Sanders, just because of his son, Chidor, just because of Hunter and Shiloh, just because of those guys. Maybe everybody in Colorado will pay attention as well. It's Colorado State versus Colorado, the Buffaloes.

But there seemed to be a little bit more, more fuel thrown onto the fire. And never did I know it'd be about Deion Sanders and what he's wearing. Not necessarily what he's doing, but what he's wearing.

I thought we've, we've gone past this from, I don't know, 30, 35 years ago. People are still concerned with what Deion is wearing and who would be concerned? Well, it would be the head coach of Colorado State. That would happen to be Jay Norvell.

And so he was sitting down and he was on the CJ Norvell coaches show and he was saying that, yeah, well, Deion is talking to the media. He does it a lot. Look at what he wears.

Look at what I wear. And just listen to what he said. You know, we had to do a bunch of ESPN videos and it was great.

I loved it. And, and, but our kids came out of those videos really with a chip on their shoulder. They're tired of all that stuff. They really are tired of it. And I sat down with ESPN today and I don't care if they hear it in Boulder.

I told them I took my hat off and I took my glasses off and I said, when I talk to grownups, I take my hat and my glasses off. That's what my mother taught me. So, you know, they're not going to like us no matter what we say or do. It doesn't matter. Okay. That's just how I feel about it. It's your show. I'm just tired of, I mean, I'm tired of all that stuff.

It's just, it's, it's, and I know everybody else is too. Why, why rile them up though? Like if it's already going to be a good game, if it's already going to be a competitive matchup, why rile them up? Initially, it didn't seem like Colorado cared too much. Deion Sanders spoke in his press conference wearing his hat and his sunglasses not too long after. And he kind of publicly, at least publicly in the press conference, kind of brushed it away. Take a listen to what he said. What I hear, I haven't met this gentleman, but I hear he's a good man. I know he's a great coach.

He has those guys playing hard. I like that. I like that. I'm glad he said that.

I like that. And just for you, I mean, I'm just curious what it means for you each time you do get to face another fellow black head coach on the other sideline. I know this will probably be the only time this year.

Unfortunately, one of the brothers got to lose when you face another black head coach, unfortunately. And you want to see us win. I mean, that's the thing.

But besides that, man, it's just tremendous getting this opportunity and allowing the nation to see that we are more than capable of doing a suffice and sufficient and a great job. So I'm happy he pointed that out and I have the utmost respect for him, truly. See, that what an adult response publicly, right? He didn't tell him what you talk about me in my hat, why you talk about my mama and what my mama taught.

He didn't get into any of that. He said, I got respect for him and it's going to be a good game, et cetera. That's what he said publicly. Well, he said this publicly as well because it was recorded during the practice. This was actually on the field, him talking to his players.

This is almost like a game of mental manipulation. Listen to me praise you in public to the media, but with my players, I want you to hear this as well. This is what Dion told his players directly. I'm minding my own business, watching some film, trying to get ready, trying to get out here and be the best coach I could be. And I look up and I read some bull junk that they done said about us. Talk to us. Once again, why would you want to talk about us when we don't talk about nobody?

All we do is go out here, work our butts up and do our job on set. But when they give us ammunition, they done mess around and made it what? Personal. It was just going to be a good game. They done mess around and made it personal.

It was going to be a great test, a battle of Colorado, but they done mess around and made it personal. We've been through this before, just in this season alone. I know Colorado has only played two games. Sometimes it feels like they've been playing forever just because of all the attention that Dion Sanders has brought to the program.

They beat Nebraska. And his son, Chidor, took issue with Matt Ruhl. Talking about saying that Matt Ruhl not only stood on the field and Matt Ruhl was like, nah, I wasn't standing around, I was inviting him to come pray with us. And then before that, Matt Ruhl allegedly earlier this year saying, oh yeah, I'm coaching but I'm not having a bunch of cameras and people follow me around.

And certainly, probably, possibly was a shot at Dion Sanders. And so they had to address that. They beat Nebraska, smacked them around. They beat TCU, who whether or not they look like they deserve to be in a national championship game or not, they did. They were in a national championship game. And so, here they are again. In another scenario, another situation, because of what Dion Sanders wears or has worn to his press conferences.

Being inside a hat and sunglasses. And so his son, the other son, the one that tackles people, Shiloh, he responded to Jay Norvell. He was talking and he's just like, why do people keep talking about my dad?

Listen to this. I don't get why, we was actually just talking about that, some of the receivers and my dad was over there and I overheard them talking about that. And I was like, what did he say?

And they told me. I was like, bruh, why do they do this to themselves every week? Coach Brown's a cool guy. You don't have to be like that. Yeah, that was Shiloh talking to Pat McAfee on ESPN.

Is this really a big deal? Like, this is Dion Sanders. Like, are you shocked and surprised? I've watched this man wear his sunglasses inside. I've watched him style and profile. I have watched him be Evervestin. I have watched him be fluorescent. I have watched him be neon. I have watched him be primetime. I've watched him be a fashion plate, a fashion stick.

The guy marches to the beat of his own drum. Why are we doing this now that he's a coach? Just leave him alone in a particular sense. Me, am I going to wear my sunglasses inside? No. No, I'm not.

Me, when I talk to someone, am I going to look them in the eye and try to make a concerted effort to do so? I am. I'm not going to wear my sunglasses inside. I'm not.

Now, before I had a lot of hair on my head, I'd certainly wear my hat anywhere that I wanted to. And I didn't care what anyone thought. But having said that, man, this is sports. People know what Dion looks like. If you want to have a one-on-one conversation with him, just leave it alone. This guy's in a different space in an era of his own. This is something that he's done for 30 to 35 years. It's not like he's showing up and just saying, hey, don't talk to me. He's probably more outgoing than any coach. He's going to speak. He's going to give you a quote.

I'd rather have someone who will talk to me than someone who will stare me in the face like they want nothing to do with me. And so Jay Norvell, he's well within his right to have his opinion. But this ain't nothing new. It's not like Dion woke up and became a different person. For the most part, and I'm sure, yes, he's grown as a human being. He's a dad. He's a father.

Multiple kids. He's coaching his kids. The man has been pretty consistent for as long as he's been a public figure. And so no big deal here by me. Let Dion wear what he wants to wear. Does he want to wear a cowboy hat? Good. He want to throw on some boots? Good. Does he want to put on some shades that I've never seen in my life and that I would never wear?

Good. But why are you poking a bear, man? There's a good chance that Colorado was going to whoop that ass on Saturday night anyway. And a lot of the comments and a lot of the commentary you saw as a result said, oh, well, instead of smacking him by 30, they're going to whoop him by 50.

And you can tack on any number that you want. Just don't poke the bear. Leave him alone. Let him play. 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. This is really a big deal. Like Jay Norvell just got to the team. Came over from Nevada. Helped turn them around. Had one year here at Colorado State. Won three games last year.

Okay, fine. It's the first year. Nobody's expecting a miraculous turnaround just out of the gate.

Now you're getting ready to take on on Colorado. And you're going to talk crap. Just say nothing, man. I got a question for you, JR. Yes.

Okay, so honestly, honestly, could you pick out Jay Norvell before this press conference in a two-person lineup? Unfortunately, the answer is yes. Him?

Yes. Okay, because his claim to fame is what? Winning a famous Idaho potato bowl? Is that what it's called?

Oh, well, he doesn't necessarily have a claim to fame. The point is, JR, this is all we're talking about because the college football schedule sucks in week three. This is worse than what it was in week two and week one. This isn't the only thing we have to talk about when it comes to college football.

JR, there's no great games in week three. And not to mention, Deion Sanders loves this. He loves his detention. As he should. Right.

This is even wilder. Deion Sanders right now at this moment. He is college football from a whole country perspective.

I know there's a lot of cities, a lot of markets, a lot of schools, a lot of teams. He is the driver. He's bigger than Saban right now.

There's no denying that. Oh, no, he is. You cannot have a conversation with anyone about college football without talking about the impact that Deion is currently having. He is the single most driver on college football, in college football right now. And so, man, is Jay Norvell poking the bear because he needs attention? I don't know. I think he's trying to rile up his own guys and doesn't care.

As he said, we don't care about the outside noise. His own players, let's be real. These guys weren't born yesterday. These players out here in his own locker room are probably rolling their eyes. They're like, now we got to go out there and deal with this. And so, yeah, man, when you don't talk for a living and you sit down, I don't care what coaches show you have or what interview you do on a week-to-week basis. Sometimes you get loose lips and you're just saying anything. And Jay Norvell, man, you weren't riling up your players.

I'm sure them dudes are rolling their eyes going, what the hell is this guy talking about? Leave Deion Sanders alone. I'm sure his own players, if they had a choice, they'd rather be coached by Deion Sanders. 855-212-4CBS. It's 855-212-4CBS. Mike is calling from Fort Worth.

You're on CBS Sports Radio. Well, yes, sir. Hey, man, it's sad that what he had to comment on was sunglasses and a hat. Like, comment on the fact that he's a good leader of men. Like, those guys are following him. They're signed up to the beat of his drum. They're ready to go to war for him. And you're worried about some sunglasses and a hat. Are your guys ready to run through a wall for you? We're about to find out on Saturday because Deion's guys are ready to go. Worried about the wrong thing, man.

His team could be ready to run through a wall for him, but I don't think they're talented enough to do it. So it's probably not going to be good, Mike. I agree. I agree.

I like what Prime is doing, man. He actually recruited my cousin and, you know, he's out here in this neighborhood that other coaches are not going into. I like what he's doing, man. Off the field.

Off the field. Well, he's made it clear, even from when he was over at Jackson State, what his goal was, and it was to work and help mold young men and give them opportunities. So we see that certainly happening. Good to hear a personal story, Mike. Thank you, man.

Yes, sir. Yeah, and it's been one more thing. Even when he was here local coaching high school ball here in Dallas-Fort Worth, man, it's been the same thing. He's never changed. Yeah, well, he has certainly coached his kids, and thank you for calling from Fort Worth. He's coached his boys at the high school level. He's coached them at the college level. He's gone from an HBCU. He's now at Colorado, and God knows where else he goes.

Let's go to San Diego and talk to Princeton. You're on the JR Sport Brief Show on CBS Sports Radio. What's going on, JR? It's a pleasure talking to you. First time caller.

Thank you. So this is my thing, and this is coming from a coach's perspective because I coach, and I do a lot of different things with the youth. But what I'm seeing is a trend with these coaches wanting to get a little cloud off of the, you know what I'm saying? They want, they need them to have a little buzz for their little recruiting tactics or whatever. They want to get a little cloud off of him for their week. They're going to get the publicity, you know what I mean? The game is already going to be sold out, whatever. But they just want to get their little buzz, too. You know what I'm saying?

Yeah, it ain't going to be nice on the other end, though. Who's picking? Is anybody picking Colorado State? Probably not. I don't know. I'm not picking them.

Yeah, so sometimes I think it's better served just to say nothing. Put his foot in his mouth on that one. They're going on the hard way, and he's already deep in the recruiting trail. Wait until the next recruiting class come out. That's what's going to be scary seeing what's going to happen after the season as well. Oh, yeah, nah.

We certainly expect to see Colorado on the up and up. Another element here. Talk to, he didn't directly say anything about Deion's mom, but I think Norvell's mom is no longer here. But he's like, my mom taught me this, so what are you insinuating that?

His mama didn't? Like, whoa, brah, don't, you don't say these things. Don't say these things at all. Brandon, caller from Chicago. You're on CBS Sports Radio. Did everyone forget his name is Neon Deion.

The guy screamed, look at me. You won't be disappointed. That's all I got. Thank you so much. I appreciate it.

Well, thank you, Brandon, for calling from Chicago. I named a couple of them. Prime Time, Neon, Look At Me, Watch Me, Sunglasses, Shades, Chains, Sweaters, Coats. We've seen that for decades now. He's just doing it as a coach.

What else is there? He's been the same damn guy. 855-212-4CBS. That's 855-212-4CBS. I'm going to take more of your calls on the other side of the break. I want you to know that this portion of the show is brought to you by Wesley Financial. Are you stuck in a timeshare and want out?

Contact Wesley Financial Group now and get a free timeshare exit information kit at wesleyfinancialgroup.com. On the other side of the break, I'm going to get some more of your calls. We do know about this Thursday Night Football game, the Minnesota Vikings losing to the Eagles 34-28. There was a little bit of a conversation, I told you, between A.J. Brown and Jalen Hurts. Nick Sirianni said, I ain't telling y'all what happened. None of your business. Jalen Hurts, he answered the question as well.

Or did he? We'll hear from Jalen Hurts on the other side of the break. I'm going to get some more of your calls as well. It's the J.R. Sportbrief Show here on CBS Sports Radio.

You're listening to the J.R. Sportbrief on CBS Sports Radio. Good to hear from you, man. I'm a big fan of your show. I love your work and I appreciate you.

I'm a trucker, man. So I'll be all over the country and I look forward to your show, man, at this time. Call in now at 855-212-4CBS. It's the J.R. Sportbrief Show here with you on CBS Sports Radio.

855-212-4CBS. I'm going to get to your calls momentarily. I do want to tell you this. We heard and we've talked about the game. Philadelphia beating Minnesota tonight 34-28. Philadelphia now 2-0 on the season. Minnesota 0-2. Jalen Hurts, two touchdowns that he got at the goal line.

We know he's powerful as hell. He's going to sneak in there and get a TD by the name of the game for Philadelphia. 259 yards rushing. DeAndre Swift had 175 of them.

They still lost. They being Minnesota, despite the fact that Kirk Cousins had four touchdowns, zero interceptions. He did have a fumble that led to a touchdown.

Justin Jefferson going out big as well. 159 yards receiving. But they couldn't keep up with the Eagles.

The Eagles held the ball 40 minutes to Minnesota's 20. When you think about an aerial attack, Devante Smith 131 yards receiving and A.J. Brown only targeted six times for 29 yards.

In their victory against the Patriots this past Sunday, he came down with about 80 yards. But tonight he wasn't happy about something. And so on the sidelines, because the cameras catch everything, there was a moment where A.J. Brown was very animated in speaking to Jalen Hurts, who typically is very relaxed and very calm. And he was in this moment. And his head coach, Nick Sirianni, was asked about this.

And he went the Belichickian route. Mind your business. Listen to this. I do know this about this team. They genuinely like being around each other. And they genuinely, you know, one of their greatest motivation is not wanting to let each other down. And so, you know, they want to make plays for each other.

They want to do the right thing for each other. And I got no doubt that, you know, we'll be in a good spot tomorrow moving forward. The conversations we have on the field, they're going to be private. And the conversations we have in our locker room are going to be private. You all don't need to know what was going on right there. Well, damn, I think we all know what's going on.

It's not that difficult to understand. A man wanted the football. What else is a wide receiver going to say? Something that's going to get him the ball. And so Jalen Hurts, pretty much always calm, cool and collected, was asked about the conversation between he and A.J.

Brown. And this is what Mr. Hurts had to say. I think everybody wants to make plays and everybody wants to contribute. I have no worry about him.

You know, he's a great player, great teammate, great friend. We'll all do anything and everything with winning in mind. And see, problem solved. What are we doing here? Nothing.

Simple. 855-212-4CBS. That's 855-212-4CBS. Dylon calling from Orlando. You're on CBS Sports Radio. What's up, Dylon? Nah, come on, man. Come on, man.

That's not even what he said. Oh, my God. That was going to be a funny call. And then he couldn't even put it together.

He fumbled to the five. That's what that was. It was going to be funny. It was. Yeah, he was Josh Allen tonight. It was set up to Dylon, Dylon, Dylon because I spit hot fire.

Why did he have to use an expletive? Shep, we don't do this here. I was going to say we should have a Hall of Fame for JR Sport Brief College, shouldn't we, right? I mean, I love our callers.

They make the show that much better. I would be absolutely. We should do a top six.

What do you think of this idea? Callers? Yep.

We should do a top six callers list as one of your top six at some point. Yeah. Anniversary. Okay.

Let's wait. We're coming up on four years sooner than later for you. Is it? Is it four complete years? At the national? Yeah. I mean, the fan, I think it's six or seven, right?

Oh, I started on the fan in 2018. Yeah. So it's about five or six, right?

But for here on CBS. Yes. I started in the pandemic. So that would be, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. March. If I go outside and I don't get hit by a truck between now and then. Yeah. It'll be four, four, four years. And is it March? I think March 20th. Yes.

It was the first show. Yeah. You're not getting hit by a truck, JR. So count on the four years and then many, many more. And with that being said, I would love to do a Hall of Fame callers list that we got a lot of them. Yeah. But what I was, what I was thinking is more so from the guy who just called, I was going to try to think about some callers who have just, you know, fumbled. And I'm not this, I'm not that much of a jerk.

I'll do like top six callers for the JR sport reef show. I don't know. That's not a good idea either. Because then people are going to get mad.

And if I'm damned if I do, I'm damned if I don't. If I do top six worst callers, people are going to get mad. People are going to send me emails.

Oh my God. Anonymous people are going to send me angry messages on Facebook because they have nothing better to do. I can't do that, Shep. I can't.

I could, I don't know. That's not, see, that's not nice, right? It's not a nice thing. I think that everybody understands that when you have these top six lists, they are subjective. It does not negate nor diminish who you are as a caller and what you bring to the show.

It's just in your personal opinion, it doesn't mean they're not recognized and appreciated. And you can always do what they do at award ceremonies, which is basically you cover all your ground and you say, I know I'm forgetting somebody. I know I'm forgetting somebody. So please bear with me if I forget your name. It's not a mission of who you are. It's just these six. I just happen to be on my mind.

So, yeah, then somebody has to be one. You can't do that. I think get away with it.

I think I think callers would I think callers would appreciate that. You know what makes no. But then a guy who's number two is like, oh my God, I'm not number one and JR doesn't like me and I'm going to forget a guy who's not even on the list. You can't do that. You know, you know, you could do this is like this is like this is like first grade. Maybe if you're the teacher, you can't have your favorite six students.

You can't do that. Oh, we had that growing up every day. I mean, the best students were allowed to go. I don't know if they have recess anymore. But when I was going to school, elementary school in the early, early 90s, that's what happened is the way that we were number one student. Yeah. The the best students of the day would get extended recess and the other ones would have to sit with their head at their desk. Yeah. Because of behavior in academics. Well, wouldn't you say cursing and being loose with the lips would constitute misbehavior?

Yeah, you being a bad ass kid. Dylan can speak the English language. He's got he's got good autonomy.

He's got really good diction. Isn't that the curse? That's a choice. Sure. But I'm saying to narrow things down, it's just not a nice thing to do. You know, you know, what I think would be really special, honestly, if there's a few people that you have in mind and they do something similar for the D.A. show, even though obviously it's in like Long Island, if one of these days and they can hang out here if they want to. And, you know, instead of maybe necessarily in studio, they can do half and half. But if we maybe pick a select group of individuals when you're in New York and they come to the studio.

And they're part of that experience for the entire show and they come up with part of the topics. And if you are so inclined. Doing too much now. Go ahead. You think so? I mean, they could come up. Yeah, they can come up. I don't know if I'd want to sit in the studio with comfortably with more than what, two people.

Really? How many people are going to fit in that studio? There's five seats. So if you pick like Greg from Michigan, although he's going to be gushing the whole time.

But, you know, like somebody like somebody that is so loyal to the show that loves your show, loves you. Well, you got to you got to remember. You got to remember Marko's there, too. So it's two. That's two seats. I need to see more people.

That's four. We don't need to occupy every seat. First of all, Marco is very gracious.

Let me tell you something. Marco don't need to get Marco deals with so many different moving parts around here. If there's anyone that can adapt and accommodate, he will.

But with that being said, he's got a job to do. When Marco enters the studio, said guests would just get up for that particular few minutes. That's all they need to get up. They need to clean the seat for Marco.

They need to get the grapes and the flowers ready. We don't do that around here. Marco is as low maintenance as they come.

Hey, Marco Balletti. Is it isn't it a mean thing to do a top six list of callers because you're going to piss some callers off? It's a terrible idea, right? Yeah, I probably would stay away from that, but that's me.

Hey, you know, and I will say this, though. I do like the Zamunda treatment. I do want the flowers when I walk by, if that's humanly possible. What type of great you prefer the red grapes or the purple ones or the green ones? I do like the red grapes, but I can live without that.

I understand that's that's produce that's fresh. That would be hard to get on a daily basis. But the rose petals, I feel like we can we can work something out on that. I feel like those should be displayed as I walk through. We should have that in the studio for you every day. Yeah.

Yeah, we should. Yes. Every day. OK. All right. And just in life, I feel like that should be something that I have in front of me. Wait a minute. Your kids now, as big and small as they are, they don't shower you with flowers and stuff when you walk in the door. No, no, not even a little bit. They're not concerned with anything that you do. And that's just, you know, how it goes. So that's why I work.

I feel like I should have the you know, I want the treatment. Who cares less about who cares less about dads and grown men, our own families or people at work? Nobody. Right.

Everyone doesn't care about us, but our families care about us less. Yes. Yeah, I agree. Mm hmm. I agree.

Good point. Welcome to. Hey, everybody out there listening. This is these all facts. You can always be Howard Stern and get your own private elevator.

What was that doing? Well, I mean, that's the ultimate royal treatment. It does. It does exist. People want that.

I want one. I'd rather I'd rather I'd rather have flowers and food. Now, you know, stinking elevator. You know that, you know, you know, it's a myth.

You know, not every woman not every woman likes flowers. Did you know that we go? Yeah, because they die. I know I heard. How did you know I was going to say that next? I thought that was just something that was was was just as common as comic.

I didn't know that. Where you've been in the wrong woman. But with the woman that you went now, she doesn't like flowers. She does not. She said because they die.

Yeah. And I spent I spent a good amount of moolah on a certain set of flowers. And I brought it five miles because God knows God doesn't like make me really difficult for myself. Well, what did she tell you? You weren't thoughtful enough, right? You know, thoughtful in your gift. So she's she's a wonderful human being. She just said, David, I love you, but you know, I don't like flowers.

I said, but I thought every person says that, but they actually secretly do like flowers. And she goes, no, they die. And they're more of a hindrance and obnoxious that I have to take care of it more than anything else.

Please don't do this again. Listen, man, you got to break out the construction paper, some glue and some macaroni, OK? Yeah. Or learn or take up knitting. You're going to make her a sweater. She likes shoes. She likes that, apparently. Yeah, I don't know.

I'll be here all night. Look, anyway. You know what? It's time for a news flash. Go ahead, Marco.

Take it away. You're listening to the J.R. sport brief on CBS Sports Radio. Hey, how are you doing, man? I listen to you every night on the way home from work. I appreciate what you're doing, man. You're a bad man.

Majama. Call in now at eight five five two one two four CBS. The J.R. sport show here with you on CBS Sports Radio.

Get ready to wrap up and roll things out. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar joined us tonight. Great conversation. We had Thursday Night Football.

Philadelphia Eagles came out on top of the Minnesota Vikings, 34 to 28. We talked about Deion Sanders and Jay Norvell telling him about his his attire. And he's not an adult wearing his glasses and his hat and interviews and such. It's just like, oh, come on, man. Eight five five two one two four CBS DeAndre is here from Birmingham. What's up, DeAndre? J.R., thanks for taking the call. Great show, as always, as usual.

And also always, always shot the chef, as always, too. So real quick, I ask those two guys I want to throw at you. Coach Norvell, you know that you don't go out there and get hit, your players do. So I wouldn't be throwing no shade at Deion for him to go and get his players hyped to help them increase that deepness I was already going to get on Saturday.

So, you know, he'll probably be looking for a U-Haul to get his stuff packed up pretty soon to get by Carl Rose State. No talking like that. So that's for Coach Norvell. And the last thing that I had was the yes, the last thing that I had was for the Alabama played Texas this weekend. Yes, we didn't we didn't do we didn't do too good, obviously. My problem with that was if a lot of people have heard a lot of people have been talking about it at the game or after the game.

Texas, no players were celebrating on the sidelines, and a fan decided it'd be a good idea to holler out, go back to the projects. Oh, yeah. We ain't all like that down here in Alabama. You know, we all aren't stupidly ignorant like that. Oh, dude, you know good and well you wouldn't have out there and said that to us boys faces. And if you feel I did I did I did see a response to that. What a mother one of the mother's players responded and wasn't happy about that. And they put out a statement saying we're not like that at the university.

Wasn't that the case? I heard about that. Somebody like you. So there's Jalen Mero. You need to go back to the projects.

What about Kool-Aid McKinstry? He's from my city. He's from Birmingham. Does he need to go back to the projects?

What about Dallas Turner? You have to think about stuff like that. You have all these different students that are at the University of Alabama, all these different players.

And then you do stuff like that. What's going to make somebody want to bring their children? I'm not going to send my son to Alabama when y'all fans treat the players like that. Not a good look. You know, it's it's I don't think that's going to slow or stop anybody down. Unfortunately, we all know that that racism still persists. People say ridiculous things. Hatred still exists in the world, unfortunately. And so if Nick Saban and we know Alabama isn't the same powerhouse that it's been in the past, especially with NIL deals and the like.

But look, if Nick Saban is going to help you get to school, let's just put it this way, DeAndre. You can be called a lot of names anywhere. I think you know that just as well as I do. OK. That's true. As long as that pace is clear. That's all I'm worried about.

We know that's the case. Appreciate you for calling from Birmingham, man. Thank you. Thank you. Be well, no doubt. Steve is calling from Virginia. You're on CBS Sports Ready. What's up, Steve?

Long time, no talk. Thank you. Listen, though. Anyway, I like the idea of the top six callers, but I think the top caller should actually get a prize.

And I would suggest a J.R. sports brief at and a pair of sunglasses. What? Should I should I have Deon sign them? Yeah.

Why not? Right. No, no. You sign it.

You sign it. Oh, me? OK. All right. Well, here, you do it because I'm not. Who would be the top caller?

Who would it be? I don't think so. Oh, I don't know. That's for you to decide. Oh, it's for me? Nobody.

Nobody cares what you'll say. But to share it, what would it be? Go ahead.

I just want a hat and sunglasses. That's all. Oh, get out of here, Steve. You can't name you can't name one call. Name a call that you enjoy. I like the ones that you don't like. You're graceful enough about letting them go without insulting them. You're really good about that. You know, even when callers don't don't you know, aren't that great. You don't put them down or anything like that. You let them down gently, you know.

Well, if they're if they're complete, if they're complete ass, I'll let them know about it. Well, name somebody. Give a name. Oh, I don't know. You're you're putting me on the spot here, you know. I'll nominate myself.

Steve from Middleburg, Virginia. Which one of you are you on the ass side of the good side? Let you decide that. I don't know. I just want a hat and sunglasses. All right. Well, what part of Virginia you in, Steve?

Middleburg, sir. You want a hat and some sunglasses? All right. Stay tuned.

I'm open up my shop soon, OK? I just like the whole story about Dion. That's all. Yeah. Look, he he should probably he needs to wear bright pink sunglasses and a bright pink hat when he coaches on Saturday night. Just to kind of rub it in when he when he's beaten Colorado State's ass.

That'll be cool. Yeah, he was classy in his response, though. Yeah, he was. He took the high road. He did. He did. Well, thank you, Steve, for calling from V.A., man.

Appreciate you. No doubt about it. Hey, before we roll out of here, Jalen Hurts spoke again about whether or not it's tough to keep his wide outs happy.

Let's listen to Jalen Hurts before we roll. We want we want to make it bigger than what it is. You know, we're talking about external factors here. You know, those things don't matter.

What's said out there that could potentially divide this group doesn't matter. We won. Yeah, they did. They won.

The Philadelphia Eagles won 34 to 28. Any conversation between A.J. Brown and Jalen Hurts. No big deal.

None at all. Listen, let me tell you this. I know it's a big deal.

I'm going to be back tomorrow. 10 p.m. Eastern Time, 7 p.m. Pacific. We're going to go through the top football games you need to pay attention to for Sunday. This might be a bloodbath.

Who knows? The Dallas Cowboys are going to take on the Jets on Sunday. We already talked about one of the college matchups that everybody's going to be paying attention to. How bad is Colorado going to smash Colorado State, assuming that they will smash them?

I think most people think that they will. And then you know what? We had a great conversation with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar tonight. I want to share it again tomorrow for anyone who didn't hear it. Hey, Shep, thank you for an amazing night. Pleasure, Jarrah.

Thank you, my friend. You're going to be here back tomorrow, right? Always.

Yeah, me too. And all these other people, the good listeners, the bad ones, the great callers, the good... By the way, Jarrah, we do have some people mentioning already a top-six list of callers, so you may have to read some tomorrow. We'll read a top-six list of callers. Not by me, though. Not by me. J.R.'s sport re-show here on CBS Sports Radio is a wrap, but don't go anywhere.
