Hey, guess what? Tomorrow I'm going to be hanging out in DC. What's up to all my folks listening in DC, 106.7. I appreciate you ever the hell you listening.

I really do. We got a lot to do over the next few hours. In a few minutes, a few seconds, I'm going to tell you about Trey Lance. There was so much positivity in the first hour of the show. We got to balance things out. We talked about Kobe.

What would have been his 45th birthday today? And, and I don't, I don't give a damn about catchphrases and things like that and, and mamba mentalities, but I do appreciate people who get up and work, people who get up and don't quit, people who have goals and work to achieve them and don't want the world handed to them. And so we talked about Kobe right before we went to break. Oh my God, we found some positivity with the New York Yankees. The New York Yankees. Listen to this folks.

Listen very carefully. The New York Yankees won a baseball game today. They did. The Yankees won and beat the Nationals nine to one. It took three Aaron Judge home runs to beat the Nationals nine to one.

One of those home runs, it was a grand slam. Congratulations to the New York Yankees. You, you won a baseball game. That's something that they're used to more often than this, this losing nonsense. A matter of fact, before Aaron Judge decided to go out there and lose his mind on the baseball field, the manager of the Yankees, Brian Cashman, he spoke to the media before the, the actual victory. And he said, yeah, we are a disaster this year. You got to love it.

Listen to this Brian Cashman. How much of a shock has the losing been to you and your staff? You know, it's been a disaster this season. Um, and yeah, it's definitely a shock. Certainly, I don't think anybody on our side of the fence, uh, from our player group, from our coaches or manager, um, or even outside the organization saw would have predicted this. So yeah, well, at least he's honest. He's just like, yeah, we're a disaster.

Great, great, great, great. We talked about Shohei Ohtani. He's not a disaster, but the team that he's on, they are disaster. He hit his 44th home run and then he had to exit the game as a pitcher because his arm is tired. They should probably check Shohei Ohtani's back carrying around this damn team all season long. They better hope he doesn't have the same issues as Mike Trout.

Uh, but I don't think he will because he's probably going to leave this sorry ass team. So congratulations to Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge. Two guys getting paid on losing teams this year. Must be nice. Now that's the positivity. We got that the hell out of the way.

I got to get to some negativity in a moment. I have to tell you about Trey Lance. It's not a good look for him in San Francisco right now.

We have no idea how much longer he's going to be there. And oh yeah, by the way, it's Wednesday night and exactly an hour from now, I'm going to deliver to you a new top six list. And this is inspired by Reggie Bush. We talked about Reggie Bush last night as word broke that he is suing the NCAA.

He had his press conference today. And so I'm going to share with you a top six list of athletes who deserve an apology. We'll do that an hour from now.

That's going to be a lot of fun. 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CBS. That's 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CBS. I'm going to get to the phone lines before I talk to you about Trey Lance, who now has a murky future in San Francisco. Let's go to Maryland and talk to L L. You're on CBS Sports Radio. The JR Sport Brief Show.

What's going on now? Hi JR. Be nice to me. I could be your mother.

No, I'm only kidding. You and you have a brain like a computer. I do not know a lot about football, but I'm learning it through you and David Sheppard.

I found you all by mistake when I was tired of listening to music on the radio. I sort of gave up on the TV and you're really schooling me. But you have a brain like a computer.

You have a brain like an encyclopedia. Sometimes I want to wring your neck. Could you say some things, you know, but and David is the same way.

You all are an unusual combination. And what I want to say is for you to open your platform for David to you have no jealousy, no envy with him. And he has to prove himself. And I've heard his show.

He throws out stuff just like a I don't know how to describe it. Both of y'all are like that. So basically, I wanted to say that you all give me a lot of laughs when y'all do a Laurel and Hardy show. I'm only saying that to be.

Yeah. And, and I'm happy to say hi to Dexter Henry for some obvious reasons. Well, thank you. Well, you listen.

Well, thank you. Yeah, I just wanted to say that. But don't call anybody's baby ugly. Okay.

Don't call nobody's baby ugly. Yeah. You're referring to what I said last night.

Yeah, happened to be. Yeah, what I do remember I said I'm not afraid because people do you remember the context? There had to be a context. If I remember, well, I remember something about people basically being fake. I think that's what I got from it. I'm being authentic. Yeah, you can't put lipstick on a pig.

I don't remember the exact context. But yeah, it's, you got to be honest, like you got to be honest. I'm the same way.

I'm the same way. I'm older than you all. But I'm quirky.

And I'm for real and I'm authentic. And have you called? Have you? Have you called somebody's baby ugly?

No, I've never done that. Because I've never seen an ugly baby. Now you telling why you on a radio line? Don't tell that lie.

Somebody might shove the baby in front of your face and in. Hey, Jr. No, this is the truth. And David, I just want to give kudos to you. He's awesome.

He is. Don't wait, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, don't distract. Wait, wait, you can you can talk to David Shepherd in a second. Don't don't distract from what I'm trying to say. What I was going to say is I can find beauty in every thing and everybody. I can too.

But that doesn't mean that there ain't some people and babies who are ugly. Now, having said that, you know, you know how it is. You might go to an event, you might go to a party when there's a hold on, Al, hold on, hold on. I need to get this out. Hold on.

Okay. Somebody somebody rolls in and there's a baby. And in a lot of cases, people will look at a baby and then, oh, my God, the baby is so pretty, so cute. And sometimes, and some people might be lying, the baby will roll in and nobody says, oh, man, that's an ugly baby.

You're not supposed to say that. But people will have a baby and you just go, you know, oh, so sweet, because, you know, it's not a pretty baby. But anyway, a lot of babies are ugly when they're born. They don't look cute. They are. What you say is what a precious child. Oh, there you go.

Yes. You can't say pretty and beautiful. You say what a precious child. Let me just say this real quick and I'm going to get off the phone for people, but you are teaching me about football. I remember the days of the Redskins and cowboys or commanders and cowboys and that was like, whoo, whoo. But I was on horseback and I'm not going to go off throughout that. I have sort of a background. But what I was, I forgot what it's called. Equestrian. Equestrian, huh?

Well, no, we're not going to go bad. I can give you a story. I also did photography back in the day with Angela Davis and Stokely Carmichael. So I'm old enough but proud of it because I survived this song. And that was one time of beauty. I don't know.

It doesn't matter anymore. But what I was going to say is thank goodness what you're doing with Special Olympics. Bless your heart.

Well, thank you, Al. Are you coming, are you coming out to National Harbor on Friday night? I'm in the regional Washingtonian. I live, actually live in Silver Spring.

Come out. Universal circuits at 7 p.m. We're doing a whole honoring of Special Olympic athletes. I'm going to be there. I'm spending my entire day Thursday, tomorrow and Friday all over D.C. and Maryland showing love to Special Olympics. And it's going to culminate at 7 p.m. at National Harbor at the Universal Circus.

We're going to honor a lot of the athletes. So, hey, feel free to come on by. If I can and get some people to go with me, I sure will. Yeah, get some tickets. Come hang out.

It'd be nice to meet you in person, okay? By the way, I groove to your music. Nobody listens to your music. I love to dance. I groove to it.

I played tonight, we've played Nirvana, Corrupt and Innate Dog. You like all of that? Oh, man, I just like your music. I like your intros.

I think they're good. It's the Ghetto Boys. It's Starface and the Ghetto Boys.

Well, this is Mace 24 Hours to Live. And this is Meek Mill right here. You like Meek Mill?

Yeah. What else we got? I don't necessarily know them, but I groove to what I groove to. Whatever hits me. Let's groove to something else. Play something else, Chef.

What else we got? Oh, oh, oh, ODB. Ooh, baby, I like it raw. Yeah. You know ODB from Mariah Carey, right? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

I can't say his, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, okay, Elle. Okay, Elle knows ODB. Can't nobody hold me down, yeah.

Hey, well, Elle, thank you so much. Yeah, you got it going on, you and Shep. And Dexter, what's his name, Henry? Hello.

Well, Dexter is doing the news, that's what he does. But Shep is here. Go ahead, Shep, say something. Shep is awesome.

No, and no one else- No, not you, not you. Let Shep get a word in. Go ahead, Shep. I just want to say your energy, your vitality is contagious. And let me tell you something, you talk about Angela Davis being a pioneer, I think you got a lot of pioneer in you as well. Hey, stop flirting.

Thank you. You know, you all are. And another thing real fast, Shep, I'm surprised no one has produced, you know, they have all producers and they get these other hosts to do their show and I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa, what's going on with that? Oh, that's all I'm going to say.

I'm not mentioning names. I don't know what you're talking about. I'm going to ask Shep on the other side. Hey, Elle, I hope to see you on Friday, okay? Okay, baby.

All right, have a good night. Thank you, Elle from Maryland. Hey, Shep, what the hell is she talking about? Why are you laughing?

I don't get it. What does she say, other people host, the producers? So, okay, so for CBS Sports Radio, we have two producers that are also hosts. You? Myself and Ryan Hickey. So for the most part, when JR is not here, when Zach Galb's not here, it's myself hosting for JR, Ryan Hickey hosting for Zach Galb. Now, there are some other talented producers, but you know, management and to their credit, you know, they're doing what's best for the company.

Don't say nothing crazy. Let me do it. Okay. What she's saying is why don't other producers do shows? Is that what she's saying?

That's what she was inferring because there are, because I guess she feels like there's some young talent and people that grind every day and know what it's like to produce a top tier show and they deserve that opportunity. But with that being said, I do as I'm told, and I'm sure everyone feels the same way, and I couldn't be happier with the way that leadership goes here. So, okay, well, there you have it. Well, thank you, Al, for joining us and I don't know, stirring the pot.

We appreciate it. Anyway, speaking of young talent, there's a young talent out of San Francisco right now. He's not getting no shot. He's getting buried. His name is Trey Lance. It has been reported that the San Francisco 49ers have looked Trey Lance in the face, maybe not, and they've told him, hey, man, you ain't quarterback number one. That's Brock Purdy.

Yeah, his arm fell off. And thanks to, uh, Kassan Reddick, Kassan Reddick, uh, in the playoffs. But Purdy is back. He's number one. And hey, you, we know you've been participating or competing with Sam Donald at number two, but Sam is number two. And yes, Trey Lance, you are number three. Kyle Shanahan, as a result, told Trey Lance to take a day off. There were reports about Trey Lance not being at practice today. Kyle Shanahan revealed in an interview tonight.

He's just like, oh no, I told him to take a day off. Kyle Shanahan has also just verbally just talked about how this isn't over for him, that he might find an opportunity here or elsewhere. I mean, well, damn, this is the same Kyle Shanahan.

This is the same 49ers that decided to trade three first round picks and a third rounder to move up to select Trey Lance at number three. Brock Purdy is like Manna from heaven. Brock Purdy is running around. His name is Mr.

Irrelevant. They found him on the trash heap. You got Trey Lance who goes down, breaks his ankle last year. You got Jimmy Garoppolo who's able to play. And of course, Jimmy Garoppolo breaks down. And then you have Brock Purdy who comes out of absolutely nowhere. Helps the 49ers to 12 straight wins. Helps the 49ers to almost the damn Super Bowl. God knows what would have taken place if this man arm, if it didn't fall off in the middle of a game, thanks to Riddick. This dude Purdy lost his mind. In five starts, 13 touchdowns to four interceptions.

Of course, you're going to give him the job. But Sam Darnold comes in and through training camp in the preseason, Sam Darnold outplays Trey Lance. Trey Lance gots to go.

And the 49ers know this. They ain't getting back three first round picks in the third rounder. Here's the benefit for the 49ers whenever they move away from Mr. Trey Lance. Brock Purdy, they're paying this dude basically nothing. Trey Lance is making that first round money. Trey Lance, for a dude who was selected at number three overall, you can't keep all these QBs.

They're going to try to move him for something. But I mean, well, damn, what a waste of time that this is. And the dude, it's only been two calendar years that he's been there. Two calendar years. They selected him in 2021. It is 2023. Damn.

Now that's fast. I know last night we talked about Baker Mayfield and how he was selected number one overall in 2018. And then when the Browns had an opportunity to bring in Deshaun Watson, they said, yeah, we'll, we'll take him in.

We don't care about the massage therapist and who, what, where, when, and why here we want him. Hey, you, yeah, you, Baker Mayfield hit the bricks. That took five calendar years with Trey Lance. They'd done with this dude in two.

And for Kyle Shanahan to say, oh yeah, yeah, yeah. He might be able to contribute here and, or he may have a career elsewhere, man. You, you already got him out the door.

What are we doing here? This sucks. I don't want to say poor Trey Lance, cause I don't feel sorry for him. He still made the money. It sucks that he broke his ankle last year.

Didn't get his full chance, but come on, man. That's life, right? That's the NFL. Did they want him as QB two? Was it going to be established that he was going to be QB three, unless he certainly jumped over Sam Donald if they believed in him. And I think this also has to do with the cash.

They keep them. But I think the minute that we have a QB go down, somebody gets hurt. Somebody gets injured.

Somebody deals with some type of injury. Trey Lance is getting the boot. Just a matter of where I can't even predict because I think it's just a matter of injury. There's going to be some desperate team that says we'll take a shot on him. We need a young quarterback moving forward. And he got to feel real good about him because you got to think about what you're going to pay him into the future. He's probably going to be on a discount as well.

It's the JR sport re-show here with you on CBS sports radio 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CBS that's 8 5 5 2 1 2 4 CBS. What are your thoughts on Trey Lance? Like what's next besides being shown the door?

And speaking of, I told you this is the negativity hour. Trey Lance kind of buried now and Reggie Bush, we talked about it last night. He's coming after the NCAA and today he had his press conference. We'll hear from Reggie Bush. I'll get to your calls about Trey Lance at the top of the hour. It's a top six list of athletes who deserve an apology.

We got a lot to do. It's the JR sport reef show CBS sports radio. You're listening to the JR sport brief on CBS sports radio.

Oh man, this is great. I've never been on a national sports talk show. Yeah, I really appreciate the call. Hey, JR first time call her into the show, man. I've always enjoyed your stuff. Thanks for taking the call brother JR. Love this show. You get me things going on on CBS Sports Radio.

Oh man, this is great. I've never been on a national sports talk show, so I really appreciate the call. Hey, JR, first time caller to the show, man. I've always enjoyed your stuff. Thanks for taking the call, brother. JR, love the show. You get me through almost every night of the week.

Appreciate it. Call in now at 855-212-4CBS. Somebody needs to call Trey Lance and try to get him through the preseason, because Kyle Shanahan told him, hey, Sam Donald is better than you so far. You're quarterback number three. And the story of his career so far for a dude who was selected back in 2021, they traded three first rounders to bring him in. They sent them to the Dolphins. He was selected number three overall. He broke his finger.

And then when he actually played, he broke his ankle. And now Brock Purdy took his job, and now they signed Sam Donald, and Sam Donald is the backup. And Trey Lance, I think is going to take a matter of desperation to move him, because anybody who trades for him is going to have to give up something. It ain't going to be three first rounders. And then you got to pay him about $10 million next year. And then this is just really for an audition. And so I think it's going to be some desperate team out there dealing with an injury who says, you know what?

We're going to take the risk, because we have nothing to lose. And so I think in the time being, for the time being, Trey Lance will continue to be a part of the squad. Hey, Fred Warner, linebacker for the 49ers. He had some comments on Trey Lance.

Take a listen to him. Obviously a pretty newsy day, as far as what's going on at the quarterback position. As one of the team leaders, what's kind of been your take on it and kind of gauge the temperature of the locker room right now?

I mean, honestly, I don't know much about the situation, like complete honesty. I came out to practice. I saw there was only three quarterbacks out there. Trey's not out there. So, I mean, I'm trying to ask around what's going on and there's not a clear answer right now.

Obviously love Trey. I don't know what's going on with him right now or what's going to be next. But yeah, we just got to keep preparing, get ready, we have a game on Friday. Keep preparing towards Pittsburgh, getting better.

But with the QB stuff, I'm honestly not even sure what exactly is going on, so. Yeah, what's going on is they phasing this dude out. Thank you for your service.

You weren't able to play. Goodbye. They're going to move on. And yeah, people are going to beat up Lynch and Shanahan and talk about all the draft capital that they gave up. Man, if the 49ers continue to be a damn good team, if they continue to win, I don't know, another 13 games, ain't nobody going to be thinking about Trey Lance.

And so let's just pipe things down. It's like the New York Jets. If the New York Jets find just great success with Aaron Rodgers, nobody is going to complain about wasting a pick on Zach Wilson, who's now a backup.

Hard knock life at times. Speaking of a hard knock life, we talked about this last night as well as the news broke, Reggie Bush suing the NCAA for defamation, saying that two years ago, putting out a statement as he looked for reinstatement, that we are not reinstating anything regarding Reggie Bush because we don't reinstate anyone involved in a pay for play scheme. Reggie Bush found this to be defamatory. Reggie Bush found himself to be defamed. Reggie Bush filed a lawsuit and Reggie Bush today, he decided to speak to the media about it up in Los Angeles County. And what did he say?

Out of his own mouth, take a listen. The NCAA's claims against me, categorically false. The NCAA has made a statement about me accusing me of engaging in a pay for play arrangement, which is 100% not true.

Not only is it not true, but there's no evidence to even support that. Yeah, we played the audio for you last night. He was on the I Am Athlete podcast and Reggie Bush said the entire investigation from the NCAA was sloppy. It was disconjoined, it was all over the damn place.

He said they didn't even pay attention to the fact that his family at the time was probably being manipulated and extorted. He continued on and said, it sucks, all my hard work. I might as well have not existed in college football.

Listen to Reggie, he's sad. Every day we worked our butts off, grinded, I showed up to work, I put my helmet on. Everything that was asked of me, I did it.

Every time that number five was called on, I delivered. And it's unfortunate that that hard work that was put in that was built, not only by me, coaches, teammates, we all helped build this thing here. It's unfortunate that it was all torn down so easily.

No factual evidence behind any of these claims. Well, yeah, he was a ghost or he at least is a ghost. Almost 5,000 yards gone, national championship gone. We know about his Heisman, gone, had to give it up.

He's a ghost. Reggie Bush is a football ghost, at least on the college side. And he said, especially about his Heisman, it sucks to be without my trophy. It sucks to not be a part of USC.

Listen. I got dreams of coming back in the stadium and running out of that tunnel with the football team. I got dreams of walking back in here, seeing my jersey and my banner right down there, next to the rest of the Heisman Trophy winners. But I can't rightfully do that without my Heisman Trophy.

Oh, OK. Yeah, that's the next step. He's going to take the NCAA for everything that it's worth or whatever you can get out of them. And then the Heisman Trust, I think, is going to have no choice but to say, OK, well, you've been reinstated and here's your trophy back.

Good for him. We talked about this last night. I don't need to revisit it, about how the NCAA for years has basically taken advantage of its student athletes. And once they got government pressure, they instituted name, image, and likeness, or at least allowing the players to make money off of their name, image, and likeness. And now all of a sudden, they're not involved in anything. And they held all the money for the longest.

And now they just allow it to be the Wild Wild West because they can no longer profit and keep the athletes from making money and try to house it themselves. So good luck to Reggie Bush in his lawsuit. 855-212-4CBS, that's 855-212-4CBS. I'm going to pick up your calls on the other side of the break. And speaking of college, it looks like there will continue to be expansion. The ACC, it looks like the ACC forget just going all over the country.

It's like, damn it, y'all might as well go global. Go start a football team on the other side of the Atlantic. I'll fill you in on the other side of the break. And I told you this was a negativity hour. Let's see, Reggie Bush, I guess that's a negative story. And if we go ahead and look at Trey Lance, third string quarterback, that's a negative story. Tua-Tanga Valoa.

I didn't know Tua-Tanga Valoa had a negative bone in his body. It seems that he has a backbone. He's standing up against a former NFL player. I'll explain on the other side of the break. I'll get to your calls.

The top of the hour, it's a new top six list. Looking at athletes who deserve an apology, we got a lot to do. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief on CBS Sports Radio. You're such a man of the people. You take more calls than any sports personality I've ever known. And to take words out of your mouth, pardon me, we appreciate you, man.

Call in now at 855-212-4CBS. It's the JR Sport Brief show here with you on CBS Sports Radio, 855-212-4CBS. We've talked about Aaron Judge and his three home runs today. We talked about Shohei Ohtani and his 44th home run earlier today. We have talked about Trey Lance, who is now quarterback number three for the San Francisco 49ers. We heard on the other side of the break, we heard from Reggie Bush. Reggie Bush holding his press conference about his defamation suit against the NCAA. At the top of the hour, you don't have to wait long, about 20 minutes, I'm going to give you a new top six list. We're going to take a look at athletes who deserve an apology. Thank you, Reggie Bush, for the inspiration.

I want to get to the phone lines, 855-212-4CBS. And then I want to tell you about someone who is also, I don't want to say going on the offensive, but he is. He's defending himself. They say best offense is a good defense, right?

Or I'm mixing it up. Anyway, it's Tuatanga Veloa. He's going after Ryan Clark because he feels Ryan Clark went after him. Let's get to some of your calls first, 855-212-4CBS. Let's talk to Frank from New Orleans.

You're on CBS Sports Radio. What's up, Frank? Hey, J.R. How are you doing tonight, man?

I'm excellent. What's on your mind? Just talking about the Trey Lance situation. I know I'm calling from New Orleans, but I'm actually a lifelong Bears fan as well.

I was born in Chicago, and it just kind of blows my mind. First of all, it's a testament to the 49ers franchise how they've managed to stay not only on top of their division, but really at the top of the conference. Each and every year, despite all the draft capital, they gave up to acquire Trey Lance and have gotten essentially nothing out of them in return. And the reason I bring up my Bears fandom is because they were in a similar situation a few years back in the draft when they gave up just an embarrassing amount of draft capital. So it wasn't with the Niners? It was with the Niners, too, wasn't it?

I believe it was. That's right, to move up one spot to grab Mitchell Trubisky, who, I mean, he started double-digit games for the Bears, and yet they've been on a steady decline essentially since they made that trade. Now, I got a lot of hope for them for this season, but it kind of just blows my mind how much they gave up to get Trubisky, and I'll never live it down. I mean, that's probably the most embarrassed I've been as a sports fan in my entire life that you give all that up to get Trubisky.

And now he's carrying Kenny Pickett's bags. Right, and then to top it all off, who went later in that draft? I think 10th, 11th, 12th overall, but Patty Mahomes. We could have just stayed Pat at number three and grabbed Mahomes, and who knows where the Bears would be right now. Yeah, well, hopefully the Chicago Bears are in a good position with Justin Fields throwing it out to Claypool whenever he's healthy. And so I think there's some optimism for the Chicago Bears and the fact that, you know, Fields will take a step forward, knowing that he has some more offensive weapons and knowing that he has some protection hopefully on the line, and not too shabby. Yeah, I believe in him this year. I think it's going to be good, and I think it's going to be great for the city too, because like I said, it's been a rough few years for us ever since Trubisky and Nagy and all those guys came into the picture.

We're a franchise in recovery right now. Yeah, no, well, it's nice that that paces out the building and you got another Ryan in to run things and pole. So good luck to you, Frank, okay? Yes, sir, Jayar, have a good night.

All right, thank you. Thank you, Frank, for calling from New Orleans. Chicago Bears fan in New Orleans. I wonder if he likes the White Sox.

Don't bother that they're moving them. Mike is here from Baltimore. You're on the JR Sport Brief Show. Hey, Jayar. How are you?

Yeah, I'm doing great, man. I'm upset though, because you're coming in the area, what, Friday? Is it Friday? You're going to be in National Harbor?

Yeah. And see, I'm going out of town on Friday. Man, God, I'm under the sea, but you're in my bed, Jayar. The bed was the perfect kitchen, man, and anyway. I'm sorry, I'm sorry I missed you.

I get to D.C. quite frequently, so another time, okay? Okay, but I want to talk about, it's God damn, you know, the royal situation with that dancer, Kevin Brown, but the owner came on the other day, and he went through this thing about he shouldn't have been suspended and all that, but he acted blameless, like he didn't have nothing, no knowledge of it, and that's the biggest bunch of crap. You know, he was acting like he was blameless. He had no knowledge of the situation and all that.

Yeah, I did, I did see, I read the article about Angelos in the New York Times, and he basically, and this is what makes the situation so wacky, because Kevin Brown puts out the whole statement about how he's good and don't believe this and don't believe that, and then the owner is talking to the New York Times, and he's saying that what took place should have never happened, so it's just, it's sloppy, man. Like, who's doing the PR? Who's the leader?

Like, somebody in kindergarten? Who's coming up with this plan? This is like the little rascals, man. It's like, what stupid scheme are y'all coming up with next?

It was a, man, it was a, boy, it's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. And it all, you know, the great season that the Orioles are having, you know, winning down and all that, but for something like this to take place, man, boy, it really just look like Keystone Cops or whatever. Right. Well, listen, man, I hope things work out on the baseball side for you.

At least it looks like it for one season. The script has flipped between the Yankees and the Orioles, so good luck to your team, okay? All right, thank you, J.R., man. Nice talking to you again, brother. No problem, Mike. Thank you for calling from Baltimore.

855-212-4CBS. I told you about, and I'm going to get to this later on the show, the ACC trying to expand to the whole damn country. I mentioned to you about Tua Tonga Veloa. You want to talk about people saying ridiculous things, Angelo's family, just pick anybody.

I don't know if dad doesn't talk, but pick anybody. Just saying stupid things. I got no problem with Ryan Clark. Shout out to Ryan Clark from LSU. He was talking about Tua Tonga Veloa. We all have heard the stories, and maybe you've seen Tua putting on weight, adding muscle, and learning how to fall and absorb the hits so he can be a durable NFL quarterback. Now, Ryan Clark took some time to say that Tua wasn't in the gym in the off season, that he might have spent a lot of time in the tattoo parlor. He was not at the dinner table eating what the nutritionist had advised.

He looks happy. He said, he's thick. Ryan Clark continued by comparing Tua Tonga Veloa's body to a dancer at a strip club. And so Tua Tonga Veloa, Ryan Clark said that he was joking. Tua Tonga Veloa didn't appreciate this.

Tua Tonga Veloa spoke to the media, and he basically said, well, damn it, I'm Simone, we believe in respect, and Ryan Clark, he shouldn't talk about me like this. I mean, I think we all worked hard throughout the off season. And I'm not someone to talk about myself the entire time, but I mean, it takes a lot. You think I wanted to build all this muscle?

Like, nah, to some extent, like I wanted to be a little lighter. There's a mixture of things that people don't understand, that people don't know about that are talked about that go behind the scenes. So, you know, I'd appreciate if you kept my name out your mouth, that's what I'd say. Oh, well, damn. Wow, Ryan Clark responded on Twitter or X or whatever the hell it's called today. And he basically said, I take 100% accountability for it. I said it, I meant it, it was a joke. If asked why I said it by Tua, I would tell him. I have zero issues looking a man in the eye and telling my truth.

I accept any consequence. And he's basically saying that Tua's just, he's pudgy, that he's not out there and he got bigger and he's out here lifting weights and he's cut up like the rock, but basically called him pudgy. Tua Tonga Veloa, he did not stop there. He said, Ryan Clark, man, just be careful, look out. He probably knows more about me than I know about myself. I mean, I don't know. It's a little weird when other people are talking about other people and they're not that person.

So, I know it's just a little weird. I come back, like my background is, like I come from a Samoan family, like respect is everything, but you know, it does get to a point where, hey, you know, little easy on that buddy. Cause you know, we, I think we're, we're pretty tough minded people. And if we need to get scrappy, we can get scrappy too.

Just saying. I don't know what that means. I mean, he gonna whoop his ass?

Like, what does that mean? Getting scrappy? Like you gonna have a verbal scrap? I mean, y'all not gonna fight? I don't know what that means. Just verbal scrapping, right? Can't be no physical violence. Who's beating up Ryan Clark?

The man is just sitting on TV talking about football. And he said, Tua Tonga Veloa, in an uncertain way, said he's pudgy. I don't know. I just hope Tua Tonga Veloa lasts the season.

855-212-4CBS. Lee is here from San Diego. Go ahead, Lee, quickly. I have no problem with Tua. He's a competitor.

I admit, this guy's a competitor and I have no problem with him sticking up for himself. Let's talk about Brock Purdy. Okay, Lee, quickly. I hear his name mentioned about once a month.

Once a month? And does San Francisco really think that this is the answer or? Okay, well, I'll give you a quick response because Lee doesn't understand the word quickly. The man threw 13 touchdowns and four interceptions and five starts. He helped lead the team at one point. They just won every game. 12 straight wins the 49ers. They went 13 and four last year.

I think if they didn't believe in him, they wouldn't have him as the starter. We'll find out soon enough. It's the JR Sport Reshow on CBS Sports Radio on the other side of the break. It's a new top six list.
