Don't buy Bird Dog's khaki shorts. While they may appear very similar to Lululemon, they are not. Bird Dog's tailored fit is overly sexual.

You don't want that. You want a big baggy fit like the shorts you get from those other guys. Gym shorts should swallow your legs. Don't even bother going to BirdDogs.com. Their website is riddled with typos. And definitely don't bother seeing how good your legs will look in Bird Dogs. You don't need that unwanted female attention. Again, do not visit BirdDogs.com and enter code radio to get the free tumbler they're offering with your Bird Dog's shorts.

That's BirdDogs.com code radio. Here's a special message from Briggs & Riley to every last minute luggage packer. To those who hate packing around those annoying grooves in the bottom of your suitcase. I know what I'm going to do over the next four hours. I'm going to have an amazing night. Thank you to everybody locked in and tuned in all over North America.

I am coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to our producer for the night, Jack Stern. He's holding it down for us in New York City. And over the next four hours, we have a lot to do. It is a ridiculously, ridiculously, ridiculously busy night in the world of sports.

The U.S. women's national team beating ass out in New Zealand. Oh, where's the music? No, come on. It's Friday night. Where's the music? There we go. Like the ghetto boys. U.S. women's national team beating up on Vietnam now two to nothing at halftime. U.S. women, they will pass.

That's what they do. Meanwhile, here in the United States of America, one of the most famous human beings on planet Earth, probably the most famous athlete on planet Earth, Lionel Messi, has made his debut for Inter Miami. It's going down in Miami.

You might have heard of these people. Some guy named LeBron James showed up to watch some socialite businesswoman known for a very famous tape. Kim Kardashian showed up to watch. It is a spectacle as Messi made his debut a little after halftime at the 54th minute. Club Azul, a Mexican club taking on Miami.

They are tied one all in the 85th minute. So we'll see what happens there. Meanwhile, Washington commanders having a little bit of a pep rally to celebrate the new ownership of Josh Harris.

Wow. Magic Johnson, very vocal about being a part of the franchise, laying down the expectations for all of the fans right outside the gate. The New York Giants don't have Saquon Barkley signed on his franchise tag, but they did add another running back. And then meanwhile, also in the world of sports, not necessarily on the field, on the court, on the pitch, but in the studio, Stephen A. Smith made it very known that he wants a hall of famer in Shannon Sharp to join him on set. Bryce Young signs his contract. Melvin Gordon signs with the Ravens.

There's just so much to do. We got even more Madden ratings for NFL players to be upset about as Messi comes through with an assist. Offsides? Possibly.

We'll see. Anyway, we got a lot to do, a lot to discuss. First of all, Jack Stern, thank you for coming through and helping to hold things down for tonight. You got it, my dude, JR. Well, thank you.

Thank you very much. Listen, folks, if you miss a minute of the show, if you call me and then you want to hear yourself again, if you want to hit pause and run to the restroom, et cetera, et cetera, it's very simple. You can always listen on the free Odyssey app. You can tune in on your local CBS Sports Radio affiliate, Sirius XM Channel 158.

And if you have a smart speaker, just ask it to play CBS Sports Radio. You know, we'll get into Lionel Messi. We'll talk about the U.S. women's national team up to nothing at halftime.

I was expecting more of a beat down. Maybe they'll explode for another three goals in the second half. But we got to start here. We have to start with the Washington commanders because this might as well be Christmas in July. This might as well be the holidays in July, because if you're a commanders fan, you've been waiting on this for a long time. And so yesterday we learned that the sale of the commanders from Daniel Snyder to Josh Harris is official. But today we actually heard from Josh Harris, who also owns the 76ers. He owns the devils. Now he owns the commanders.

Fine. He's the guy with the big money who came through and owns the team. Someone who is going to be the most famous face of the team, although he only owns what is a reported 4% stake in it, is Magic Johnson. Nobody wants to hear him to hear about Josh Harris unless things hit the toilet. And if things start to hit the toilet, then Magic Johnson, he's going to exit.

He's not going to be sticking around. If they have success, Magic Johnson is going to be front and center. And with all the positivity surrounding the change, Magic Johnson is at the introductory press conference slash pep rally.

He's dancing to go-go music. You would have think Magic Johnson was living in DC forever. He continued to also do media throughout the day. He spoke to the fans. He was talking to the Today Show on NBC. Magic Johnson was the man about time.

About town, I should say. It's about time that somebody took over for the franchise. And one of the first things that Magic Johnson did, he told the fan base. He told the organization. He told the players.

He told the coaches. We are going to support you. We are here for you. This is the promise for Magic. I'm supposed to be here and be a part of this incredible franchise.

And I will say this. We've been meeting and we're ready for the challenge. We want to take all the headaches away from the players and coaches. We want them to concentrate on being great football players and winning games and coach, just coaching games. We want to make it easy for them. And that's what we're going to do. And I think that Josh touched on it.

It's about excellence, best in class, doing everything the right way. And then over delivering to our fan base. And we're going to do just that. Over delivering to the fan base? How could the commanders go from Daniel Snyder to this? And sure, they haven't done anything yet. They bought the team. That's going to buy them some good grace with the fans. It's going to buy them some time to turn things around.

But what a stark contrast, right? The Washington commanders have basically gone from, I don't want to call Daniel Snyder a crypt keeper, but they've gone from the dude, the worst dude on the block, to Magic Johnson? Come on, Magic Johnson is one of the most likable human beings, I would say, on planet earth. When has Magic Johnson done to bother anybody?

I'd say, I don't know. Over the past 30 to 40 years, I'd be hard pressed. And maybe some women out there from the 80s who might say otherwise, Magic Johnson hasn't bothered anybody.

He flashes his smile and the world lights up. And it's not just that he's likable. It's not that he is just one of the most popular, famous, successful basketball players of all time. Since then, Magic Johnson has become a successful businessman. I don't care if we're talking about Starbucks, or we're talking about movie theaters, or we're looking at investments, or we're looking at sports franchises. Magic Johnson, up until 2010, he had a stake in the Los Angeles Lakers.

He sold it. Right now, not only does Magic Johnson have an ownership stake in the Washington commanders, he owns a pizza at the Dodgers with Guggenheim Partners. He may not have the Lakers, but he owns a part of the Los Angeles Sparks. Oh, we know MLS is growing. Thank you, Messi. Magic Johnson has a piece of LAFC.

Magic Johnson has his hands in everything. And he also made it very clear in talking to the fans. I didn't show up to smile. I didn't show up for vanity. I didn't show up to pat myself on the back. I showed up to win. I called when Josh and I talked. The first thing I said was, do you want to win?

And he said, yes. I said, I'm in. Because I don't invest in sports teams for ego. I invest to win.

Oh, well, listen. Magic Johnson, fierce winner when he played basketball. I mean, we can go back and look at the 80s and the battles with Larry Bird. He wants to win. We can look at his performances, playing power forward when he was point guard in the finals.

We can go back. This man wants to win. We can look at what he fought back from in the 80s to coming back to try to play in the 90s. Magic Johnson, as nice as he is, he is competitive. And what he's been able to do, moving into business, having success, it's reported that Magic Johnson has a net worth north, a net worth, net worth, worth more than $600 million.

It's a lot of words right there. And so Magic Johnson, yeah, he's competitive. He's trying to go out there and make money, but it's also bigger than that. Magic Johnson, speaking to NBC and the Today Show, he sat down with Craig Melvin and Magic Johnson almost broke down when he talked about this opportunity that he has, what it means for others, what it means for black people. And just take a listen to this. As a proud black man, you got me choking up now. When I think about oh, man, this is a great opportunity.

And I don't know why God blessed me with these opportunities. But I want to exhale not only for myself and my family, but for all African-Americans and making sure we can see ourselves in these seats. And I want people to know that we can do the job. Yeah, representation matters. You don't believe you can do something unless you see other people.

You don't believe you can do something unless you see other people doing it, unless you see that there's someone who's having success. And Magic Johnson's certainly a representation of such. There isn't another African-American owner here at this level in the NFL. There certainly isn't excuse me, a majority owner. Condoleezza Rice is a member of the Denver Broncos group.

But Magic Johnson is going to be the fourth right. And certainly the most visible face when it comes to ownership in the NFL. Because quite frankly, I mean, sans Jerry Jones, Magic Johnson is probably the most famous owner in the NFL, regardless of the percentage.

And so the Washington commanders, what a world that we live in. Just over the past approximately 25 years, they have shown themselves to be one of the worst run organizations in professional sports. Their owner has been one of the worst owners in professional sports. And you basically snap your fingers and Daniel Snyder is gone and Magic Johnson and Josh Harris is in. And for a dude who only, I repeat, only owns approximately 4% of the team, you could probably say that Magic Johnson is going to be ridiculously influential with the franchise, how it's viewed, how it's welcomed. Because the guy prior, could it be any worse? He was the closest thing to hell on earth.

And so congratulations one more time to the Washington commanders. Josh Harris might have come in and brought the money. But Magic Johnson, I think he's going to be the dude at least publicly to help breathe life into this entire franchise. Especially, it's kind of crazy when a new owner says, we're going to do things where all the players have to do, all the coaches have to do is focus on football. I'm sure Ron Rivera is breathing a massive, massive sigh of relief. He can put his mop down.

He doesn't publicly have to clean up the messes for Daniel Snyder. Good on Magic Johnson, good on Josh Harris and congratulations one more time to all of the fans of the Washington commanders. It was due.

Maybe we'll get some other franchises to turn things around sooner than later. It's the JR sport reef show here with you on CBS Sports. So what are you thinking for lunch? I can't. We should celebrate that. Let's embrace the beauty of all hair. New Dove Love Your Hair Collection is gentle and sulfate free with customized skincare ingredients. To love your silver, love your waves, love your curls, love the hair that makes you you. And I think that's beautiful.

New Dove Love Your Hair. Radio, it's going to be a busy, busy night. Lionel Messi, what a shock. He just did a Messi thing in extra time.

He just scored a goal minutes ago to give Inter Miami their first victory, and we'll talk about that and play that for you on the other side of the break. I told you about the New York Giants signing a running back. His name, not Saquon Barkley. Stephen A. Smith making a plea to bring in a Hall of Famer to be his new host. Bryce Young signing his contract.

We'll get into the commanders again because they may not be the commanders for long. Melvin Gordon signs with the ratings. There's an update, yes, on James Harden. Aaron Rodgers might play longer than you would ever expect. Players are mad about their Madden ratings.

The U.S. women are in action against Vietnam. That's a lot. That's everything that we'll do. But on the other side of the break, we're going to talk about this Messi guy, came through in his debut and scored a goal.

That's what legends do. We'll hear it on the other side of the break. The phone lines are open. It's 855-212-4CBS. That's 855-212-4CBS. It's a Friday night, the JR Sport Reef Show, CBS Sports Radio.

Certain things, you can't write them up, can you? It is the JR Sport Reef Show on CBS Sports Radio. Tonight was the night. Everybody down in Miami, soccer fans, football fans, all over the world, people wanted to see Lionel Messi make his debut for Inter Miami.

Feels like a hot shot now, doesn't it? All of a sudden you blink and Lionel Messi is not going to Saudi Arabia. He's not going to play in the Saudi League with Cristiano Ronaldo. Messi says, I am going to the MLS. He's going to make $50 to $60 million dollars just on his contract. That doesn't include his cut from Apple TV.

That doesn't include his cut with Adidas. He's going to make a lot of money here. Lionel Messi comes over, joins Miami, signs his contract last weekend, is shopping at Publix last week and tonight in his debut, what does Lionel Messi do? He comes through and he scores a goal to win the game 2-1 against Cruz Azul.

But it's bigger than that. This was a spectacle from the beginning. Lionel Messi showed up and there are stars there. Kim Kardashian is sitting around at the game. She's being interviewed because it's Kim Kardashian. She's there with her son who is a massive football fan. Of course he is and it's not just a socialite, someone who is paid to be seen like Kim Kardashian.

I don't know any of her other discernible talents but there was also someone who's a businessman, a basketball player. I mean even LeBron James was caught on television walking from his car into the stadium hugging Messi. This was LeBron James present for Messi in his debut. Listen to this.

What do you make of it? I mean you have LeBron James here. LeBron James is here right? LeBron James and everyone around the world is trying to be a part of this moment but imagine if Apple TV wasn't part of this program. Yeah Apple TV the distributor here of this game.

Apple TV man they got their money's worth haven't they? Messi I can't wait to see what the numbers look like for for this game to see what the sign-ups look like. This is going to be pretty remarkable with Messi as a part of MLS and and must I tell you Inter Miami stinks. Inter Miami is the worst team in the Eastern Conference for MLS and so they're playing Cruz Azul. This is not a part of the MLS schedule. This is a special portion of the schedule where they are playing teams from the Mexican league and so I don't want to call it an exhibition but that's basically what it is and so Messi made his debut.

He did not start in this match. Messi jumped online or jumped onto the field right after halftime at around the 54 minute mark and this is what it sounded like from Apple TV. Man they loved the guy. The place was jumping.

Pink all over the place and they're waving flags. People love Messi. He seems like your next door neighbor.

He's going shopping at Publix. Why wouldn't you love Lionel Messi? And so he enters into the game. He's running around about 30 minutes. He's getting knocked around. I'm like are they trying to whoop Messi's ass?

He's on the ground every time I look. I'm like oh they're punching Messi in the mouth and the game is tied at one all and now we're past the 90th minute. Now it's all about extra time.

Now it's about injury time. Let's put some time on the clock for all the times that Messi was laid out on the ground. Messi just named man of the match by the way. No surprise and he was named man of the match because Lionel Messi in extra time sitting at about the 94th minute. The game is basically over. Messi lines up for a free kick and this is what it sounds like on Apple TV. Here it is. Messi put it a bit in the other way. Magnificent.

Listen you can't write things like that up. Messi makes his debut, comes on as a substitution after halftime, is still getting his feet wet underneath him and Messi goes out and of course he scores the game winning goal. David Beckham looked thrilled, owner of one of the owners of Enter Miami. I don't know which Spice Girl he, well it's his wife. Is it, hey Jack is it Posh? Do you know? Is it Posh Spice? I have no idea.

Your guess is as good as mine. Victoria Beckham. I don't remember her Spice Girl name but Victoria Beckham looked thrilled. Kim Kardashian, I didn't see her whatever. Lebron James happy.

Everybody happy. Messi makes his debut and I guess Lebron James knows a thing or two about uh you know spectacular debuts. Lebron as a rookie who can forget all the hype surrounding his first game against the Sacramento Kings as an 18 year old coming out and scoring 25 and 5 and letting everybody know out the gate.

Damn it. Yeah I'm a kid but I'm a grown man out here just laying out basketball whoopings and so uh quite apropos that uh Lionel Messi makes his debut. Lebron James is in the stands and Messi mania is underway.

We should all get used to it. Ironically the next game you don't have to wait for long and we don't know how much he is going to play then. Enter Miami's next game is going to be against uh a team here with me in Atlanta. Atlanta United is the next game for Enter Miami. That takes place on Tuesday night and so for a busy night as of right now the United States women soccer team they're beating Vietnam two to nothing.

60 minutes gone by here in their matchup about 30 minutes left. Messi takes the cake and you know what he may not garner all of the attention tomorrow morning. It might be a byline here in the United States of America and our media but all over the world you can bet your ass Messi is going to garner a lion's share of the attention for what he did in his debut and it's pretty I don't want to say funny but even being in DC this week and looking at what people are wearing you already see the pink number 10 jerseys. People are wearing them and it'll be real fun to see just how much MLS grows here with Messi at the helm or at least Messi here I should say in the United States of America and playing for Miami. What a what a big deal and what an exciting moment for the football and soccer fans and for the future ones as well. I'm sure they're going to be some folks who pick up on the game. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you on CBS Sports Radio 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. Always nice where you can get a little bit of a of a boost. Always nice where you can get something new. The commanders have something new in their ownership group. Josh Harris and Magic Johnson. You think about Inter Miami and MLS. Something new and one of the greatest soccer players of all time and Lionel Messi. Something new. The New York Giants. They want to add something old but they can't come to an agreement with him talking about Saquon Barkley.

The New York Giants I don't want to say have gone in another direction but the New York Giants have added insurance. I'm going to tell you who they've signed on the other side of the break. The phone lines are open if you want to give me a holler. 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. I'll tell you about the New York Giants on the other side of the break. Damn. Well first of all let me not say damn. Let me say thank you. Following me on Facebook for eight years and now wow you've gone from YouTube to the radio.

Yeah I have. But it's just even listening to the fact of on Facebook for eight years. Damn.

I'm trying to remember when I first signed up for Facebook in the first place. Is he a superfan now? I'm sorry? I said is he a superfan? Does he get the official superfan badge? Well I don't have superfans. I just got people that I rock with.

They can call themselves whatever they want man. I'm just I'm just a guy. Facebook.

First time on Facebook has to be oh my god. 2008? I think? Maybe seven? I don't know. I gotta go back and look. JR Sport Breeze started in 2009. So to have a guy tell me that oh man oh I watched I followed you on Facebook for eight years.

Thank you very much. Man I got folks who tell me they've watched me growing up. I'm like I'm not even old man.

I'm not old by any stretch. Shout outs to everybody who locks in and and tunes into the show. You can always call me here like that fellow did. 855-212-4CBS.

That's 855-212-4CBS. You know before we went to break we talked about Messi making his debut for Inter Miami. Automatically scoring a goal to win the game in the 94th minute. What a shock that Messi provides everyone with a dramatic moment. And so everyone in the stadium in the the arena spending hundreds and thousands of dollars.

They walk away with their money's worth and so good for them. Inter Miami able to sign Messi. Big deal. A lot had to go down for for him to come over to the United States of America. And unfortunately that reminds me of a guy who plays here in the United States of America. He doesn't have a new deal. And that guy's name is Saquon Barkley. And unfortunately I don't want to say for him I don't think this is going to have a major impact on on what he does or does not when it comes down to signing his franchise tag or even showing up to work. But the New York Giants they didn't sign Saquon Barkley.

He didn't sign his franchise tag I should say. But the New York Giants signed James Robinson to a contract. Yes the same undrafted James Robinson who played for the Jaguars came out of nowhere and gave them a thousand yards undrafted. The same James Robinson who tore his Achilles a few years ago.

And then pretty much he's it's been tough for him to round back into form or shape after that. Jags ended up moving him to the Jets last season after Breece Hall tore his ACL. And James Robinson he he really has not not seen the light of day. I mean the Patriots just signed him in this offseason. And then the Patriots waved him right after that. They signed up like a four million dollar contract and they basically couldn't even get him out onto the field. And now James Robinson is a member of the New York Giants.

And this is called insurance. This is called putting a warm body onto the field just in case Saquon Barkley says screw y'all I am not coming to work. We know things got pretty contentious between the Giants and Saquon. We know running backs aren't getting their money's worth. They're not getting the cash that they would historically get. The market is being compressed down on top of them because of instances and situations like James Robinson. And so James Robinson is a New York Giant and Saquon Barkley on the Chuck Knox show.

This was this was on the 11th. This was before the New York Giants and Saquon had to you know find time to figure out a deal. Saquon talked through his logic and basically said you know what I don't want to have to not play in games but I may have to to prove my point.

This is what he said. Anybody knows me knows that's not something I want to do but like it's something that hasn't something that crossed my mind. It's like I never I never thought I would ever do that but like now I'm at a point where it's like Jesus like I might have to take it to this level and like am I willing am I prepared to take it to the level.

I don't know. That's something I got to sit down and like I got to talk to my family. I got to sit down and talk to my team got to really you know strategize about this. Can't just like go off of emotions because like I have like I sit here and say like oh be mature. I have my moments. I have I have my moments where I want to like I see something on this stupid ass phone and I want to respond.

I want to let the world know how I really feel. Yeah well it's a hard knock life for running backs in the NFL. We talked about this extensively earlier in the week. There's another running back that that kind of went off the board earlier today. Melvin Gordon goes to the Ravens. We know about Josh Jacobs. We've had a lot of running backs who are just kind of waiting in the wings. We still don't have a deal for someone like Leonard Fournette who is an outright free agent. You can look at Josh Jacobs. Yes Josh Jacobs in the same position as Saquon Barkley and and now we have we got one dude who ate up a potential spot and that's James Robinson.

You know no massive expectations for him. He is not Saquon Barkley but he he can be serviceable if he's healthy. He wasn't healthy with the Patriots and so I still believe without a doubt we're going to see Saquon Barkley suit up for the New York Giants. Is he going to disappear for one game? Is he going to disappear for two?

I don't know. I can't see him missing more than one game and he is not required to participate in any of the off-season activities. He is not going to incur any type of fines unless Saquon Barkley decides to just start missing regular season games. 8-5-5 2-1-2 for CBS.

That's 8-5-5 2-1-2 for CBS. Let's go to South Carolina and talk to Everett you on the JR Sport Brief show. Young brother how you feeling brother?

I'm excellent. What's on your mind? Hey man you know you were talking about some of these running backs out there not being you know not being signed and you know they're holding out for more money and the guy up in New York I truly believe that I don't blame him for maybe potentially sitting out. The second half of the baseball season is here and each game means a little little bit more. We're talking pennant races and wildcard chases with each pitch bringing us closer to the playoffs. The free Odyssey app lets you listen to live play-by-play of your local team so no matter what you're up to you'll never have to miss another game. Download the free Odyssey app today and keep baseball close by all summer long. That's A-U-D-A-C-Y.

Odyssey. You know preseason and and waiting on to get the money because he's proven to me and I hold a lot of other fans that he's worthy of the money. You know some of these other guys they haven't proven themselves and but guy in New York I'm a true believer that he's proven himself and he should hold out because at the end of the day the National Football League stands for not for long so you get all you can get while you can and you have leverage to do it more power to him. Have a great Have a great day my brother. Stay strong. Thank you Everett for calling from South Carolina. Unfortunately for Saquon Barkley the only message that he would be sending to the New York Giants if he were not to play a game of this season would just be displeasure and I think we already know he he's not happy. The other thing that he could show and this very well might backfire although it's one game you know you're not fooling anybody is that if the New York Giants go out and they don't have Saquon Barkley and they go ahead and win their their opening game of the season and Saquon is at home their first game of course it's a big one it's the Dallas Cowboys and so if Saquon is not there let's say the New York Giants and their offense struggle then Saquon Barkley is gonna you're gonna look good for a day but the fact is they still can't sign him to a long-term deal until after the season whatever he plays or excuse me whenever he plays that salary is set that's 10 million dollars for this year and so Saquon's sending a message in week one of the season how far does that really travel all the way to January to February to March April May in June where by the way the New York Giants they can if they should choose they can decide to franchise tag him again and that contract that one-year deal will be in the range of about 13 to 14 million dollars so Saquon Barkley yeah he can sit out it's basically what he just said it's just an f-u it's nothing else and it's an f-u that will cost him money out of his paycheck for this season so if you're if you're Saquon Barkley you gonna you gonna sit out you gonna miss a game check just to say you're ticked off everybody knows you are everybody knows you want to make more than 10 per hour Saquon Barkley also made it very clear he's like listen I'm not trying to reset the market him resetting the market would mean him making more than Christian McCaffrey's 16 million dollars and and and Everett from South Carolina I also hear you man we know he can play but he tore his ACL he had to deal with a high ankle sprain that's one of the chief reasons that that people don't want to rush to pay running backs big money Christian McCaffrey's getting his 16 Carolina panthers said he has 16 million dollars and Christian McCaffrey got hurt basically the minute after he signed the deal I believe the running backs should get their cash but to say that it's not risky who we all fooling please Andy is calling from Arkansas you're on the JRR sport brief show hey JRR thanks for taking my call I like what you're talking about and and my thing is if you want to do value running backs are we forgetting that the run pass option the play action pass only works if you have a threat at running back who blocks for the running backs um who blocks for the quarterback when he's you know coming back to make it I don't understand it I don't I know it got devalued somewhere some coach all this kind of stuff I've heard but it is exciting watching the running back bust through the line you know hit the outside and go down 45 yards for a touchdown that's one of the most valuable underneath the quarterback I get it I understand that but um I just want to hear your it comes it comes down to a few simple things yeah I understand that I I'm with you I don't I don't need the the convincing and thank you Andy for calling from Arkansas the thing is the NFL feels that the running backs are a dime a dozen that they can just get one and plug a dude in and keep it moving if you want to talk about play action I think Derrick Henry has just just saved the whole ass of Ryan Tannehill because we know you ain't worried about Ryan Tannehill winning the game for you you're worried about just Derrick Henry getting the ball and just breaking down field that's the threat and how far did that take them almost to a Super Bowl a few years ago it took them to an AFC Championship game but I think we'd all be hard-pressed to see that take place again even in bringing in someone like DeAndre Hopkins so yeah the running backs still hold value the running backs are still required in third down situations as pass catchers we see that in guys like Alvin Kamara are the running backs still integral when you want to try to run play action the running backs integral when you want to get those that that short yardage or you're at a goal line situation but they're disposable that's what they're trying to avoid there have been rumors and talks about how how the running backs the the big ones and we saw the the messages that they shared on social media that these dudes have pretty much said we gotta figure something out what are we gonna get a running back hold out it's it's just a wild world that we live in Brett is calling from San Diego quickly Brett quickly hey JR can you hear me yes go ahead quickly okay yeah I just want I mean who do the Giants have as far as stars I mean no one wants to go there to see Daniel Jones but I want to go see Saquon Barkley I can't think of another star player that I'd be go be excited to go see there I think I think they just should just pay him and I mean he's he's worth the money I think okay well thank you Brent for calling from San Diego I would agree with you Saquon Barkley is the biggest star for the New York Giants but New York Giant fans are are diehards it's it's like a family if you're a Giants fan you're a Giants fan it don't matter who's necessarily on the team as long as the team is winning I think the Giants are fine if Saquon Barkley didn't play and the New York Giants started the season 4-0-5-0 people be talking about we don't need Saquon yeah we liked him but we don't need him I think you have some fan bases that are keen to just say what are you doing are we winning or not and I think that's the most important thing it's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you on CBS Sports Radio speaking of winning the U.S. Women's National Team they're winning Messi he won I'll tell you the scores oh yeah by the way Shannon Sharp looks like he might be winning too I'll explain here on CBS Sports Radio don't move.
