He gets himself a $14 million raise from the Bengals. He is now making $30 million this season, but he's expected to be an unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of this year. Yeah, the Bengals are cheap. They ain't going to pay you for a long time.
One year, and then you can just walk on out the door.
Okay, a lot more. Terry McLaurin got paid early in the day from Washington. The commanders are now giving him $32 million a year for the next three years. College football. We learn that Michigan is going with a rookie.
Yeah, true freshman Bryce Underwood, 18 years old, is going to get the start for the Wolverines. Thank you to Aaron McMahon for coming through to join us. Beat writer for the Michigan Wolverines. And thank you to Matt Vertoram for coming through. Covers all things NFL for Sports Illustrated.
We show some love to Cal Raleigh.
now more home runs than any catcher in a single season ever we talked about michael parsons he's still waiting on his contract jerry's gonna pay him at the final minute and we got more to get into before we roll out of course at the end of the show we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history we got the u.s open going on right now oh my goodness damn venus Williams is she's playing right now 45 year old Venus Williams got one of these uh special invites because of her history and uh Venus is she's still trying to play God bless a 45 years old congratulations Venus just even going out there and giving it a shot so we got so much more to get into thank you for listening on the free Odyssey app if you missed a second of the show you can hit rewind on the app thank you if you're listening live on your local infinity sports network affiliate you can always tune in on sirius xm channel 375 if you have a smart speaker talk to google talk to alexa talk to siri talk to whatever ask it yeah the machine ask the machine to play the infinity sports network and you can call me too 888-710-4ISN is the number that's 888 8, 7, 10, 4, I, S, N. I told you, Kenny Pickett.
Now backing up Geno Smith with the Raiders. Cleveland Browns have taken the approach of, for now, we're going to roll out Flacco, Sanders, and Gabriel. They already cut Tyler Huntley. And so it appears that they are not going to run around with four different quarterbacks. It looks like they're going to enter into the season with three of them.
And there seems to be no middle or intermediary here. You're going from one extreme to the next. You're going on from 40-year-old Joe Flacco. And then you got two rookies here in both Shador Sanders and in Dylan Gabriel. We saw what disaster Shador had the other day as he got sacked five times.
Shador was in the locker room afterwards, and he was asked whether or not he thinks he's going to make the team. All NFL teams have until 4 p.m. Eastern tomorrow, 1 Pacific, to get their rosters down to 53 guys. And Shador Sanders, after that disaster against the Rams, the five sacks, he was asked if he expects to make the team. Listen to what he said over the weekend.
Obviously, I feel like I can improve in a lot of areas. You know, like the same thing I said last time, walking off the field last game that I played in. And I'm just excited for the opportunity to get out there and play. A couple days, three days until roster cutdowns. How do you feel about that?
Do you feel like you belong here on this team? Obviously. Overall, as a player, I feel like I put in the work. I feel like everything I do, you know, I try to do it to my best, and that's all I've asked for.
So if you ask anybody on the team, would they feel like they belong? they belong you know and they don't hide so i feel like i do okay looks like you he'll make it through you know botcher i would say typically this is a a bad idea to have a guy this old and then just have two rookies i would think you'd want to have somebody more experienced in the middle kind of maybe closer to his prime or what would be his prime but these these are the browns I think they're going to roll this through unless somebody gets hurt.
Well, yeah. I don't think there's much more you can do with this roster because you're not going to give up draft picks for the future just in case you do need a new quarterback. And then on top of that, you already have Joe Flacco as the vet. And you just can't go the entire season without seeing what you have with Gabriel or Sanders.
So they basically put themselves in handcuffs and basically screwed themselves. this year yeah it's it's sad because the situation as it stands right now this is like it's like who's the adult in the room I don't want to I'm not putting Joe Flacco in like elderly territory I'm not calling this guy old he is 40 years old but this is like hey let's let's have the the toddler you know watch the old guy it's just you need somebody kind of in the middle and the Browns don't have that. Kenny Pickett was never going to be the best option, but he was the guy in the middle, which is why I thought they were going to stick it out with four QBs. But no, they send Kenny Pickett to the Las Vegas Raiders to back up Geno Smith.
So we'll see how that works out. Either way, the Browns are going to stink throughout the course of the year. But at least I think the schedule gets moved up for both Dylan Gabriel as well as Shador Sanders. We'll see them out onto the field. much sooner than later you got one guy moved if i'm shador if i'm dylan gabriel i'm just i'm taking a big old sigh of relief i'm going yes good great this is going to mean more playing time eventually for me one less guy to worry about is is good for them individually so we'll see how the browns work it'll be a soap opera all season long another soap opera coming to an end today temporarily Trey Hendrickson coming to an agreement on a one-year deal.
He's getting a little bit of a raise with the Cincinnati Bengals. No more hold-in for Trey Hendrickson. Listen to this report from CBS Sports. Breaking news and great news if you're a Bengals fan. Trey Hendrickson ending his hold-in with the Bengals.
Our Jonathan Jones reporting that he's going to get a $14 million raise for one season. go from $16 million to right around $30 million this season. Henriksen had been holding in because after leading the NFL in sacks last season, he wanted to be one of the highest paid ends in football. He doesn't get the long-term deal, maybe even not the guaranteed money, but he does get a significant raise for this upcoming season. Hmm.
Bengals are going to be the Bengals. i'm worried about joe burrow and his thoughts on the franchise i'm hoping that one day joe burrow can get back to a super bowl but with these bangles and how cheap they are i don't know if that's going to be the case we had this discussion with matt verdoran when he came through and joined us earlier in the show this is pretty much telling trey hendrickson listen bro take this money show up to work and then eventually when your contract is done at the end of the year see you goodbye they're gonna let this guy walk out the door now imagine i don't expect it again what are the odds that trey hendrickson wakes up again and says here are 17 and a half sacks for this upcoming season i'm not expecting it but i'm expecting him to go ahead and walk out of that door at the end of the year and Mike Brown the Bengals owner well business as usual now this is the part that's that's bad Botcher tell me if I'm being a jerk here they have been historically cheap forever okay Mike Brown he's older than Jerry Jones he's 90 years old right and who knows I don't know Is he going to be around another 15 years in Joe Burrow's prime or maybe after he passes? I'm not trying to put the guy in the dirt, but will things potentially change, you think?
Well, you're doing the math. Statistically speaking, he's most likely not going to be around for the entirety of Joe Burrow's career.
So I don't know. I don't want to be dark, but I think you'd assume that there'd be an ownership transfer or change soon. for the bank yeah well it is uh is he doesn't he have a daughter running the team i guess this is gonna go to her yeah and like you could say that'll be a little bit better maybe but it doesn't bode well until it changes completely different owners yeah the thing is you you never know to your point so his daughter yes this much I knew his daughter Katie Blackburn is the executive vice president for the Bengals It says that she's also the first woman to be a chief contract negotiator in the NFL. And so we don't know what this is going to look like. She's probably going to get the keys to the castle and maybe that'll change things.
you never know and we've seen and I think the most extreme positions earlier this year where the Dallas Mavericks moved Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers still absolutely ridiculous to think that that took place that would have never happened with Mark Cuban like you could have thrown that completely out the window and all we heard was about how Mark Cuban was still going to be the dude to go out there and make the basketball decisions well that wasn't the case either and so you never know how these things are going to go trey hendrickson sticking around with the bangles at minimum for one more season pretty ironic and this is i want to say hilarious amari cooper is going back to the raiders on a one-year contract he didn't have the best season with the buffalo bills after they brought him on i think he had a wrist injury to kind of wrist injury that kind of slowed him down but he's back with the team the organization that he started with and then you had earlier today, Jacoby Myers was just like, well, I don't want to be here. I want a new contract. And I have to go and say to myself, you are the best wide receiver on a bad team. Jacoby Myers is not, he's not a bum.
Okay. But he's not the type of guy that I go around and go, oh, he doesn't want to be here. Oh, well, it's a big fuss. It seems to be much to do about nothing. And if they don't pay him, what's he going to do?
He's going to sit out. Listen to Jonathan Jones again. Yeah, so we remember a couple years ago, Jacoby Myers signed that three-year, $33 million contract with the Raiders. That was a couple general managers ago.
Now he's in the final year of his deal. Just had a 1,000-yard season. And he and the Raiders apparently cannot come to terms on any sort of contract extension. And so he's looking for a potential way out. Again, a number of teams out there in the NFL looking for quality wide receiver help.
So this is a well-timed trade request for Jacoby Myers.
Now, will the Raiders actually acquiesce? They can't afford to lose Jacoby Myers when you look at this depth chart. This is not a good wide receiver room, and he is very clearly their top wide receiver.
Now, of course, they have weapons around Geno Smith. I find it hilarious when the guy goes. he's looking around in the room and just going man hey they don't got no options better than me might as well go out here and ask for more money his name is not Terry McLaurin Terry McLaurin is now making 32 million dollars a year look man the Raiders are I feel bad a little bit for the Raider fans and this is what we got a good portion of NFL teams where you know they're not doing anything the Raiders are basically being babysat right now until Tom Brady finds the guy that he wants to be quarterback Geno Smith is the dude right now okay you have a serviceable and reputable head coach in Pete Carroll he's basically there to help set the set the tone Tom Brady can't babysit because he's doing a million jobs he's over here broadcasting and consulting with the The team owns a part of the team, which is just crazy to even think about. They got so many rules about where he can and can't go and what he can discuss. It's just kind of nuts.
But here he is. Pete Cowell, Geno Smith. They're just, I don't know if I want to give them two years. Bacha, how long are these guys going to be there? Two years, Max?
Two years. I'd say this year is try to be as good as you can, win as many games as possible.
next year is more of the uh develop the players we draft this year yeah they got to find a quarterback man think about this geno smith to kenny pickett i expect geno smith to throw for like 3 500 yards and just i don't know 20 touchdowns and 15 interceptions and everybody's gonna go what are we doing here the rate is eventually gonna have to find somebody to throw the football i'm not all that excited about geno smith and kenny pickett i do want to see what Ashton Jente can do real excited to see Brock Bowers in year number two I don't think Amari Cooper is completely washed up at the wide receiver position and so he the Raiders are a football team right now that they just exist and it's kind of tough even when they had all those years with with Derek Carr he was just he was good I mean every now and then you'd have somebody you know kind of scream that he was underrated or he was great and this and that Derek Carr sitting around on TV right now okay he's sitting around on TV calling games and I know it's because of his shoulder issue and the surgery but nobody ever looked at him and said oh my god this is going to be the dude to take us to a Super Bowl or a championship so the Raiders are one of these teams they're just kind of kind of skating right now see if they can hit some lightning and then move things along I I just don't think so pretty sad and then you got Carson Wentz who's now backing up JJ McCarthy. You got Sam Howell who's getting moved to Philadelphia. And then when we get to cut day tomorrow, I'm real interested in seeing, are we going to get that big name that gets cut? Are we going to get a veteran? Are we going to get some wide receivers?
Who is getting the boot? It's going to be real fun to see. We got you all covered here tomorrow. Cut time, 4 p.m. Eastern, one pacific we gotta wait and see it's the jr sport re show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network 888-710-4ISN is the number that's 888-710-4ISN a lot of nfl news over the weekend we're gonna have even more nfl news over the next 24 hours michael parsons is still waiting for his deal he'll probably have to wait until the first day of the regular season but then we had some news that just made me go am i in the twilight zone the answer is yes rampage jackson's son beat up a wrestler what are we doing of course we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history speaking of history we're going to have some made i'm going to tell you about the black college football hall of fame this hour as well so we have a lot to do here on the infinity sports network you want to call you can 888-710-4ISN that's 888-710-4ISN infinity sports network don't move you're listening to the jr sport brief it is the jr sport brief show here with you on the infinity sports network 888-710-4ISN is the number that's 888-710-4ISN.
Botcher I think I might have been living underneath a rock and well maybe I'm just not understanding things I don't I don't have an endorsement deal with Nike paying me millions of dollars but while we've been here on the air I see a story that's popped up that Caitlin Clark it's been announced on on her her own social media and whatnot that she is now a nike signature athlete she's getting her own shoes she just released her new nike logo which is a two cc's interlocking cc's for caitlin clark um i'm a little confused and so they they said that they're gonna drop her collection starting next year which i assume would be shoes i'm kind of surprised maybe because of asia wilson nike hasn't done that already i I know they signed her to an eight-year, almost $30 million contract last year, and then we haven't heard anything since.
So just kind of weird them say, hey, she's a signature athlete. Like, we knew that was going to be the case.
So what's the news here? The logo, and that's basically it. Just get her name back into the media, and then they gave a, I guess, rough estimate of when the shoes are going to come out. Man, them shoes are going to move like hotcakes, right? Yes.
especially if they're like i understand if they look terrible and they don't sell but it's caitlin clark anything that she puts out will sell out yeah they're gonna move i'm just hoping that she's actually healthy next year like she's been dealing with the leg issues all season i mean even before the season started caitlin clark had the i think it was the quad and then it moved to now it's her groin and now she was practicing i believe last week and now caitlin clark has like the bone bruised in the knee like her team was expected to compete for a championship we don't we don't even see her i feel like all season long she's been hurt in the season is basically coming to a conclusion so whatever they're gonna sell her shoes next year they're gonna move i know angel reese has shoes out sabrina unescu i think between sabrina unescu and asia wilson they probably have the the most popular shoes that I know. Bacha, I've walked into the Nike store in New York City, and I remember walking in maybe a year or two ago, and the whole entire front lobby was just Sabrina Unescu. Not surprising. Liberty were winning good. They just came out.
And I think the first edition or second edition of her shoes sold out pretty quickly. Yeah, I'd be interested to see how her shoes move. Who has the most popular woman's shoes? Probably Asia Wilson, I think it's Inescu. Really?
Okay. I think so. Yeah, we know who's about to take that spot. Caitlin Clark. Hopefully nobody has any beefs or problems about it.
I mean, we all knew she was going to get her own shoe. Let's see. Let's see what it looks like. Caitlin Clark announcing that she is Nike newest signature athlete Yeah they signed her last year and then we didn hear anything about it i think they they didn want bad press because everything we heard is oh well they gonna give caitlin clark a shoe and agent wilson doesn't have a shoe and i guess nike did a little bit of pr here and said let's just uh let's just wait a year let's just wait a year uh unfortunate news over the weekend i'm still trying to understand what the heck is is going on here quentin rampage jackson one of the most famous UFC fighters of all time he has a son named Raja Raja went into a wrestling ring professional wrestling ring and assaulted a wrestler in LA over the weekend this guy never heard of him don't know him wrestler's name is Psycho Stew and apparently Psycho Stew as a part of a bit hit roger with a a beer can before the the match and then when the match was actually taking place rampage son went into the ring and slammed him and then just beat the living hell out of him kept punching him and punched him about 20 times while he was on the ground so apparently he has uh broken facial bones he he lost some teeth rampage had to go online and say I don't agree what my son is doing or what he did. You got other wrestlers saying that this guy is in stable, but still critical condition.
And it's kind of, kind of crazy, man. Bacha, he, he meant to do this on purpose.
So I think the beer can, they, they told the psycho psycho, they told psycho that he was going to be part of the match, but they didn't tell him that he's not an actual indie wrestler.
So he did the can bit, hit him with it, and that caused actual tension between Raja and the wrestler. And then after a couple of videos, I think, came out where he apologized to Raja. The beef was still there. And then in a couple of clips on his stream, because, of course, it was all live streamed.
Okay. He said he was going to actually hit him and beat the living hell out of him. Wait, wait, wait, wait.
So this is something that took place over multiple days. This isn't just an event on Saturday. I think it was, no, I think, so Raja showed up to the event on Saturday morning or afternoon before the event started. Right. He went backstage outside.
The beer can incident happens. I think everyone on the stream still saw it, and there was tension built up because they said, you know what, you're going to be in the match. You can get revenge in the match, but he took it way too far.
So instead of acting, he decided to really beat the hell out of this guy. Yes. Wow. They told him to throw fake punches. He threw real punches.
Oh, wow.
Well, he ain't no wrestler, so that's up to the promotion, no? The promotion was at fault for letting him physically assault him. One, two, and they didn't react to it quick enough, if you watched the video.
Well, the wrestlers tried to put a stop to it. After 20 punches. Yeah, but wasn't there like two other wrestlers in the ring? Yeah, there was two or three. The ref was there and there was two other wrestlers.
So they all could have stopped it a lot earlier than it did.
Well, I don't know whether, you know, wrestlers, were they in the ring or on the floor or outside? It looked like there was two laying on the mat and then the ref was in the corner.
Well, the ref don't want no smoke, right? I don't know. At the last portion, they just got to throw themselves at the person who's assaulting someone as a safety precaution.
Well, I see that this is being investigated. Like, what are we doing here? He assaulted the guy.
So I see the police are investigating his son. What is there to investigate? He beat the living hell out of the guy while he wasn't expecting it. And the guy is now laid up in a hospital. What investigation needs to take place?
See if there was waivers signed, if there was paperwork filled out between Jackson's kid in the promotion itself where there could be an altercation, stuff like that. I would think everyone with their two eyes saw that this was, one, premeditated, and two, it was blatant assault, and it was not good because the guy was laying there bleeding.
So, yeah. Look, this guy, Rampage's son, they say he's about 25 years old, okay? he's 25 rampage has to answer to this because well he's the famous one this is his this is his kid rampage said raja is an mma fighter not a pro wrestler he had no business being involved in an event like this i don't condone my son's actions at all he suffered a concussion from sparring only days ago and had no business doing anything remotely close to physical contact as a father i'm deeply concerned with his health and the well-being of mr smith that's the psycho stew russell who got the hell beat out of him that being said i'm very upset that any of this happened but my main concern now is that mr smith will make a speedy recovery i apologize on his behalf and to kick for the situation uh wow okay uh that roger jackson is going to be uh he's going to be facing some time. He's going to face some time. And the fact that this took place all on a stream and the LAPD can investigate all it wants to.
Yeah, this, this, this guy's going to be paying some cash here. Marco Belletti, you suing when this guy wakes up, this guy's family suing, huh? A hundred percent. And they have every right to, and they deserve it. Yeah.
I'm trying to understand why the promotion would allow him. If you're not a trained wrestler, if you ain't been rolling around and hitting people and learning how to fall and all this other stuff, if you haven't done that, why are you just going to throw somebody in the ring for? Yeah, you know what? I can't sit here and say that because wrestling has been doing that since the dawn of time. I mean, Donald Trump has been in the ring numerous times, throwing people around, getting whatever body slammed and whatnot.
This has been going on forever.
So there's plenty of guys that, you know, isn't now, I don't really watch WWE now, but isn't Jelly Roll like a big part of their botch? You're into this? Isn't he like a big part of their storyline now? Jelly Roll had a whole match. He was like training behind the scenes.
Travis Scott. Yeah, but train for what? Like there's times where they just throw guys in there for the day. There are plenty of times where it's like, look, you're just going to throw this guy to the ground. He's going to go to the ground.
You're going to throw a couple of fake punches and get the hell out. How much did Lawrence Taylor train for his WrestleMania? Yeah, like I don't know. I struggle with that. He had to have trained.
Dude did something, right? I don't know. It's Lawrence Taylor.
So who the hell knows? He probably said, I'll see you on Sunday, whatever the hell day it was. Look, yes, they should be trained. Yes, they should go through it. Is this the first time somebody probably got thrown into the ring with no training where it was like, look, just do this and that's it?
And they expected you to do this and that's it? Yeah. And you know what? If you'd have done that, you wouldn't have a problem. You decided to all of a sudden try to kill someone.
That's on you. Yeah, but it's still the promotion. The promotion is, they're the ones responsible for having a guy out there. Yeah, they'll be liable in whatever paperwork and whatever stuff that they have or don't have. I get all that, but I just, I struggle with thinking that's the first time that a celebrity of any kind, especially with a smaller wrestling circuit, has been thrown into the room.
And he's not even a celebrity. I didn't know this guy. This is Rampage's kid. I mean, that's part of it. You should, you know, when you're looking for relevancy and you're looking for viral and you're looking for internet clicks, you're looking for anybody that can move the needle.
I didn't know he could move the needle, but they were hoping. I just don't think they wanted to move the needle like this. Yeah, not at all. I mean, for all of this, just have Rampage out there. Why you got his son out there?
I don't know. Because you got to pay him. Yeah, there you go. Touche. Yeah, Rampage ain't showing up.
You got to probably cut a, I'd say start at a mil, maybe a couple hundred. I don't know. So if you're looking for an A-lister and you can't pay for any of them, that's why you wind up on cue and you assume that they're going to do what they're supposed to and you get what you get. yeah rampages rampages son throwing 20 punches to a guy who's already knocked out cold you know i hope the guy wakes up and moves around and yeah that's that's horrific yeah he's he's gonna be locked up for a little while that's uh he did what he did he's gonna have to pay for it his daddy he's not gonna be able to save him there so we'll see what happens it's the jr sport brief show here with you coach to coast on the infinity sports network we come back on the other side of the break we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history i also have to tell you about something coming up this labor day weekend it's the jr sport brief show on the infinity sports network and right now it's time for a newsflash with marco belletti you're listening to the jr sport brief it is the jr sport brief show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network what a day and we're getting into the meat of it now nfl season is getting ready to start we got cut day tomorrow you got trades taking place guys are trying to finalize teams are trying to finalize their rosters and so we are really really getting ready to to get going with this season i can't wait to get more football can't believe it's already August 25th staring in the face of so much and NFL season is upon us the entire country just stops people build their schedules around NFL football so it's going to be a lot of fun and speaking of things getting started this is going to be pretty cool before we get to a few things that took place this day in sports history I need to tell you about this okay you you know this drunk driving changes your world drive sober or get pulled over paid for by NHTSA there's something cool coming up okay the black college football hall of fame classic it launched in 2019 in Canton Ohio it celebrates the rich legacy of historically black colleges and universities commonly known as HBCUs through more than just football this started alongside the relocation of the College Football Hall of Fame the Black College Football Hall of Fame from Atlanta to Canton the main campus. The classic quickly became a cornerstone annually held over Labor Day weekend, which we know is this coming weekend.
It's more than a game. It mirrors the cultural vibrancy of HBCU homecomings. You got tailgating, battle of the bands. We got step shows, college fairs, gospel concerts and more the classic is a part of a broader initiative to honor hbcu football excellence this was started in 2009 by legends james harris and my main man doug williams since starting this in 2016 the black college football hall of fame and a pro football hall of fame they've expanded we're talking scholarships permanent exhibits and so much more in the 2025 class at the classic okay we got virginia union and miles college so make sure you go ahead and check out the black college football hall of fame classic we'll be talking about it more as the week goes on it's the jr sport re show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network labor day weekend already it was just fourth of july here we are wow time flies anyway August 25th end of the show it's time for us to take a look at a few things that took place this day in sports history back in the days when I was young I'm not a kid anymore but some days I said and wish I was a kid again it's time for this day in sports history you see back in those days we had radio and you couldn't see anything and it was primitive and lousy and we liked it on the J.R. Sport Brief Show I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass.
August 25th, 2025. Let's go back to August 25th, 1968. Because Arthur Ashe, he became the first African-American to win the U.S. singles championship. Let's listen.
1968, Arthur Ashe winning that U.S. Open. Good afternoon. Bud Collins along with Jack Kramer with you at Forest Hills. We're re-reaching the climax of an extraordinary event in tennis, the first US Open.
And we have two amateurs, Tom Ocker of the Netherlands, Arthur Ashe of the United States, Richmond, Virginia, and the US Army. And his first of what I'm sure will be many aces to see. First game for Ash. First game for Arthur Ashe. 5-4 for Ash.
There's number 11 for Aces A. Oh boy. What a game by Arthur Ash. Power, speed, accuracy, touch. He played them all.
And he's got it. Complete standing ovation for Arthur Ash. This is the year of Arthur Ashe. Yeah. Listen, hey, they named the stadium after that man.
Okay? The stadium that you see the U.S. Open right now. Arthur Ashe Stadium, named after Arthur Ashe. God rest his soul.
August 25th, 1996. He's another legend. He's still here with us. Tiger Woods. This man won his third U.S.
Amateur Championship. He beat Steve Scott on the 38th hole. He had to come back from five holes down with 16 to play and a two down with three to go. This is Tiger Woods after the fact talking about coming in and winning his third amateur championship. This is back in 1996.
I was I got to a horrible start this morning. You know, I didn't really have it. And this afternoon, I knew what I had to do. I've been there before. And just a matter of going out there and doing.
I didn't make any putts until the very end when I guess I really needed them. And it's just a hard battle all day.
Well, Tiger, we got to ask the question, what does this do to your feelings as to whether you'll turn pro or stay in school? I don't know right now. I just know one thing. I'm going to celebrate like hell tonight. What is that?
Oh, uh-oh. Bacha, that's not good for Tiger. Oh, my God. He ate a little, I don't know, birthday cake or something. He turned pro in August, so not too long after that he turned pro.
Bacha, damn. birthday cake celebration he's not drinking he's an amateur listen when Tiger Woods says something about celebrating I'm like I don't know about that sounds like a bad idea kid or not anyway we know what we know never mind August 25th 2011 the New York Yankees they decided to beat the living hell out of the athletics they hit three grand slams in one game. They became the first team in Major League Baseball history to do this.
Okay, you had Robinson Cano, drug-induced. Russell Martin. And then Curtis Grandison, okay, nice guy. They beat the A's 22-9. Curtis Grandison hit the last Grand Slam, the third one.
Take a listen to this, courtesy of the Yes Network. One, two. That one is driven out to right center field and deep. Going back is Sweeney. Looking up.
See ya. Baseball history. The third grand slam of the game for the Yankees. Never before done in the history of baseball. Curtis Granderson with a grand slam.
History in grand style. It is Michael Kay. The grand announcer. New York Yankees. They could use some of that in the lineup right now.
Well, they could use some pitching too. That's a different conversation. August 25th, speaking of baseball. 2020. Oh, what a...
Every time I say 2020, I get the heebie-jeebies. It's terrible. Lucas Giolito. He threw a no-hitter against the Pirates. It had to be the Pirates.
Of course it did. The White Sox won 4-0 at guaranteed rate field. Comiskey. Let's take a listen, courtesy of NBC Sports Chicago. Nobody's here to watch, but everyone at home has their hearts in their throats.
On 0-2. to right field Adam Engel is there a no-hitter the 19th in White Sox history August 25th of 2020 Lucas Giolito no hits the Pirates and poor Pirates like they think they're on the receiving end of all the bad things in sports shame that was August 25th 2020 at least we had some baseball right damn i need about five years of my life back anyway those are a few things that took place this day in sports history it's been august 25th all day long man that no guaranteed rate fee i think it still has that stupid name attached to it these places these teams they will just take money for everything. I think some of the worst stadiums have names attached to it. Batch, I think there's a name or there was a stadium or an arena. It was named after like a trash company.
You know what I'm talking about? No. I'm a big fan of the Smoothie King Center, though. That's a cool name. In New Orleans?
Yeah. I just like the name. I don't even think it's called that anymore. I think it is. It's right across from the dome.
I think it's still Smoothie King. We got Guaranteed Rate Field. American Family Field. I think that might be Cincinnati. This one is terrible.
Good for the Marlins. They would deserve a terrible name. Lone Depot Park. Pretty stupid. No, Sleep Train Arena.
Isn't that Sacramento? No idea where that one is. That must be new. No. Is Miller Change, too?
Who? Miller Park? It's not called Miller Park anymore. Miller Field? No.
i think it got changed to like a that's american family field the brewers are now american family field oh my god wait a minute this place is now called arco arena again they've renamed it arco arena oh you gotta be well it is arco it they renamed it arco no it's not it's different so So yeah, they called it Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento from 2012 to 2022. And so now it's renamed Arco Arena, which is the... Oh no, it's the Golden One Center. That's the new place for the kings.
Okay, yeah. We got some dumbass names. My favorite dumb... The who? The Talking Stick Resort Arena.
That's in Phoenix. Yep, that's a good one. still has that name yep yeah and then the kfc yum center just takes the cake horrific absolutely horrific hey whatever gets the bills paid people will go ahead and take that money certain things i'm glad no name wrigley field needs to be wrigley forever yankee stadium doesn't need it let's let's keep a few things the same hey shout out so much to matt verdoran for coming through to chat some nfl with us thank you to aaron mcmahon for coming through to talk to us about some Michigan football.
