Uh we're gonna hear from Grady Jarrett. He has some positive words on a young quarterback. and Caleb Williams. We talked about a younger quarterback in Carson Beck. He's like, Yeah, I went to Miami for the football fit.

Had nothing to do with the uh About five million dollars, you'll probably earn nothing to do with that. And we'll get some into some more college football as we continue on with the show. We got James Rapien joining us from Sports Illustrated to talk Cincinnati Bengals in about 20 minutes. What's up with Trey Hendrickson? What's up with Shamar Stewart?

What the heck is going to be up with that defense? How the hell are they paying all these guys on offense? And the defense was ass last year. We'll have that conversation with James Rapien. in about twenty minutes.

And there's more that we'll get into Tyreek Hill says he needs to be a better leader. What a shock, what a surprise. WNBA had its All-Star game on Saturday night. Let's just say we know Caitlin Clark. The ratings were down.

Speaking of Caitlin Clark, another Indianapolis-based star, Tyrese Halliburton. He he did some talking about his Achilles tear. He has a a theory. A very short one as to why there's so many NBA players that are just Blowing out these Achilles. Him.

Tate 'em. Lillard It's been always been a bunch of guys. It's it's Pretty bad in the league right now. Anyway, if you want to call me, you can do so too. Here's the number.

You ready for it? Yes, you are. eight eight eight seven ten four I S N. That's 888. seven ten.

Four. I S N I'm on the internet. I'm on Facebook at JR Sport Brief. I'm on IG at JR Sport Brief. I'm all over the place, X.

At JR Sport Brief Don't. Don't don't type anything in if you're driving. That's that's dangerous. I'm in Atlanta. where it's uh very dangerous outside, as hot as hell.

Our producer, Ryan Botcher, he's in New York City, where I'm also sure it is. Hot as hell. Bacha, what's the temp in New York today? 90 plus? Nope, 76.

Get the hell out of here. For today and tomorrow. Most of the country is just burning up. Y'all have been spared.

Well, but you go you go into the subway, it's a hundred and four degrees, ain't it? Basically. And then not to mention Friday, it's gonna be ninety-five. Uh light work, nothing.

Well, a little bit of a dip.

Well, did it didn't it rain? Did is that why? What happened?

So it rained. Not really it didn't really rain this weekend. Oh, wow. Maybe overnight.

Alright.

Well, enjoy the weather. That's good. Good for you. Here, I don't know. He say it feels like more than a hundred degrees.

Whatever. No skin off my back. I like I like the heat, don't bother me at all. I like all weather. I don't care if it's I've been in Toronto.

It's been negative 20. I don't know what the hell they call that. in Celsius centigrade, but I ain't got no problem with negative twenty Fahrenheit. I got no problem with 115 in Vegas. I got no problem in Louisiana.

Just give me all the weather. I want to experience all the things. I felt Burning ass hot? In the heat, And I have felt burning ass cold. Botch, you ever been somewhere where it's so cold it burns?

Uh, I'd hope to never be in this pla a place where it hurts to be cold.

Okay, yeah. You can feel It's a sharp. You've heard the description of a sharp biting cold before, right? Oh, yeah. I definitely felt it a little bit.

But do I want to be in the weather like that? No.

Okay. Understood. That's kinda crazy. You could be somewhere so cold. It burns.

It's possible. Very popular. Shout outs to everybody listening in Alaska as well. I've been to Alaska, not the coldest place I've been. I'm like, ah, it's whatever.

Sign me up for it. I think it has to do with all the moisture Uh in the air. But I'll digress. I'm not our roker. I'd say shout outs to Al Roka, but I think me and Al Roka need to throw some fisticuffs.

I digress. Anyway, 888-710-4ISN is the number. That's 888-710-45. Four I S N. Hey, we talked about uh College quarterback.

And we'll get to the guys that are retiring. If you didn't hear, that Jimmy Graham Gone. Tyron Matthew, gone. I feel like he just started his career. It's over already.

I feel like I watched his entire his entire football life and it's already done. It should let you know how fast time flies. And then Philip Rivers. He's been around for the better part of 20 years now. He's finally, officially done.

We'll get into all the. Wow. Old guys or retired guys, we'll get into them. Let's talk about a young quarterback. Before we went to break we talked about Carson back.

The man had decided to leave the University of Georgia. Make his way down to Miami to Dayton models, drive lamb borginis, by chains. Congratulations to him. The NFL said, No, thanks, you suck. He has to have another showing before he can go to the NFL and be a.

Back up to the back up somewhere. But this guy He just came out of college last year. This guy Yeah, I think he had a good season. This guy The most ultimately. The season was a disappointment for the Chicago Bears.

I'm referring The Caleb Williams. Chicago Bears had a record of 5 and 12 last year. This man was running for his life. Caleb Williams. This poor, poor man was sacked Sixty Eight.

Times. Let me say that again. The rookie quarterback. was sacked sixty eight times. I don't think anybody could fault him if he woke up and said, you know what?

I'm not trying to be David Carr. I'm outta here. I'm done. I'm cooked. But credit to Ryan Pulse, who I believe just had a birthday or something like that.

I don't know. But they did add uh Joe Tooney. Remember, Joe Tooney was misplaced on the Kansas City Chiefs? They did add Jonah Jackson, who was a Pro Bowl guard with the Rams. They went out there and tried to get this man some help.

And some protection. And then ultimately, we know that Ben Johnson is in the place. Ben Johnson, I know a lot of Detroit Lion fans. not happy with him for being quote unquote a turncoat. and going to Chicago But the bears should be better.

than what they were last year at five and twelve. We would also expect the Minnesota Vikings to take a step back. Can you always or at any point in time count on Jordan Love to just be healthy throughout the course of the season? And so I just think naturally. With the evolution of the NFC North and the Minnesota Vikings with their Second-year quarterback in JJ McCarthy.

Like they're gonna win. More than five games. And all things considered, Caleb Williams did not have a bad year. He did not have a bad rookie season with the Chicago Bears. But it's easy to get caught up with what Jaden Daniels did.

Caleb Williams threw for thirty five hundred yards. Had twenty touchdowns. to only, dare I say, only Six interceptions. He also rushed for another 500 yards.

So, this was not a bad rookie season. And I told you about all the guys that they added. On the offensive side of the ball, or at least to help go out there and protect him, they drafted Luther Burden, which would be nice. But on the defense, they added someone, he's closer to the end than he is to the beginning, but he's not cooked. Grady Jarrett is now a member.

of the Chicago Bears. And he was here pro bowl this, all pro that, all these years with the Atlanta Falcons. Faculty's like, sorry, bro, you might be the hometown guy, but we're not paying you. That ship is sailed. And so now Grady Jarrett is playing in a new city.

He's in Chicago. And he had some positive words about what he's already seen from Caleb Williams. Listen to what he had to say. About his body and his skill. And he's like, damn, this guy's impressive.

I've been alright with Caleb with Goodbill. You know, we exchanged numbers. He was one of the first people to reach out to me when I signed to the team. And. But but just just as much as any of the guys, man, I mean he very, very um very cool very cool guy, man, and you know, super approachable and uh super welcoming when I when I got here.

And so I'm I'm I'm excited to be able to have him as a quarterback and see what he was. What have you seen in his skill set? I mean, just I mean, just making some amazing throws, throwing on the run. And just, I didn't realize how fast he was, you know, getting out of the pocket, how ripped and in shape he is.

So, I mean, he's somebody who you can see, he's an elite athlete along with an elite quarterback.

So, I'm excited to see what he can do.

Now l let's see what he can do. I mean, when you watch him play, is he in that elite quarterback category of athlete? Is he going to be confused with Jaden Daniels or dare I say Lamar Jackson? I don't think so. I think he's known as someone who's more of a pocket passer, but to have that ability to move around, most definitely.

And let's be clear, he was sacked 68 times last year. He was it more than that. He has the ability to move around because some of those sacks.

Some of those hits belong to him. Like, you're not in college anymore. You can't just run around and run around and run around and run around. and think that you're just gonna make things happen because you will run around and blink And you gonna get hit. This is not college.

You can't be the amazing Kruskan back there. You know, just trying to make things happen on the fly. And so Grady Jarrett has been around the block for quite some time. It's what he had to say about Caleb Williams and trying to help move him to another level. Yeah, I think encourage you know just like you say encouraging words stuff like that But also more than just encouraging words telling somebody a good time sometimes you got to talk a little mess to them, you know and Or challenge them give them difficulty so by the time the game come you know nothing gonna phase them, you know and so it's a it's love, but it's it's gonna be it's like big brother love, you know, and because you want the best for him, but and he want to do his best, but you know, we got to put a we got to put a tough defense out there for him to face, you know, we got to talk a little smack, but also in between time, we got to hang out, we got to break bread, eat together, stuff like that.

So I think he's going to be more than ready to go and That's true, the preparation of everybody just all hands on deck. You know, just and everybody wanted to see him do his best, man. I mean, the talent he got is, you know, out of this world, but I think he'd be the first to tell you it'll come with putting in that hard work, daily grind. And that's what I've been super impressed with so far, being his teammate so far, just how bought in, committed he is to really try to achieve greatness. Got you need that big brother love.

and shove you off the the top bunk of the bedlug. Punch you when your pants aren't looking love It'll punch you in the face by accident, love. Yeah, well, he doesn't need too much more of a beating than he took on the football field last year. I get what Grady Jarrett is saying. Chicago Bears, their calling card historically has been known as defense.

When they won a championship, it was defense. What they haven't had is a quarterback. And if they can never couple up the defense... With the QB, Then I I think they got something in front of them. I feel good about the Bears.

And I'm not saying I feel good about the Bears to go win a championship. But I think they have an opportunity if Caleb Williams can take another step with all the weapons that they've given him. I think Caleb Williams can help take the Chicago Bears. to the playoffs as as a wildcard team. I really do.

And I'm not one of these guys that's now all of a sudden kind of caught up in, oh my God, look at what Jaden Boyd did, look at what Jaden did. You know, Jaden Daniels, oh, you took Washington almost to the Super Bowl. That man is an anomaly. And I know people want to rush the process so much now. We got to draft a quarterback, and he has to take us to the playoffs immediately.

All this sittin' behind a guy, learning behind a guy, That's that's old hat. That's that's old news. And we talked about Cam Ward yesterday, Will Levis. saying I'm out, I'm gonna get s a shoulder surgery. Like the expectation is for Cam War to to potentially help turn the Titans around sooner than later.

And so there is no waiting game. And Caleb Williams, this is the reality. If they are not going to the playoffs, If they are not a step away or a game away, and even if it's disappointing, if they don't get close. People are going to start looking at Caleb going, Well, what the hell are you here for? And then Ben Johnson, there's some expectations from him.

Look at the miracles that you worked with the Detroit Lions. Look at what you did with Jared Goff. You helped resurrect his career. You helped resurrect the Lions. There's big expectations for the Chicago Bears, and I honestly think they'll go out there.

And meet him. It's good to know that Grady Jarrett has recognized that. Grady Jarrett does not pull punches, he is a very nice fellow. I can attest to that. Meeting him, interviewing him here in Atlanta.

And I think the Chicago Bears are lucky to have him in the building. Let's see if he, in addition to some of the other additions, To the Chicago Bears, help turn things around. I feel good about what Caleb Williams did last year. I feel good about what he's going to do this year. I'm goin' to put the bears in the post season.

I like it. It's the J.R. Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to take a break when we come back. I don't know where this team is going.

I know they didn't make the postseason because their defense stunk last year. We want to talk about the Bengals. They're in the news. What? Shamar Stewart, their prize rookie, has yet to sign his rookie contract.

Trey Hendrickson is looking for a deal. They got two big wide receives. They got massive contracts. They got all offense, no defense. Where are they going?

We're going to have this conversation with James Rapien on the other side. He covers the Bengals for Sports Illustrated. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief Show, coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here on the Infinity.

Sports Network. I showed up to work today. Terry McLaurin didn't. Trey Hendrickson didn't. What are they showing up to work?

We have no idea. It seems like the Bengals have a few issues with a couple of players. Shamar Stewart not even signed to the team yet. Trey Hendrickson wants a new deal. Sam Hubbard retired.

Stewart supposed to help replace him. The defense was terrible last year. We got wide receivers getting all the money. We got Mike Brown upsetting some of the guys. To talk about what's going on, In the world of the Bangles is someone who covers all things as Cincinnati Bangles for the Locked On Bangles podcast for Sports Illustrated.

Joining us right now is James Brapien. James, how are you, man? It's real.

Well, good to have you here.

Well, thank you for joining us. Here's a question right out the gate. When the heck is Trey Hendrickson getting paid? This guy's not, he's hanging out in Florida now. Come on.

Yeah, it's uh it's something that It doesn't shock me that we're starting training camp this way, but it's certainly something. That I think a lot of fans are frustrated by. And I get it. It's. Yeah, the NFL SAC leader.

He was second in defensive player of the year voting. And clearly. Your best offensive player by a wide margin last year, and you need your defense to be much, much better if the Bengals are going to be a true Super Bowl contender.

So the frustration is there, and I think the frustration is there with Trey as well. And that's why you saw that Instagram post this morning with the sun rising in Florida, him making it very, very clear that he is nowhere near Pay Corps Stadium, as the rest of the veterans on the team reported for training camp today. When will it happen? I'm not sure. But JR, I do believe it will happen.

I think the Bengals are going to sign Trey Hendrickson to an extension. I do think it's going to get done. And a big reason why is because I know Trey wants to be in Cincinnati, and I know they want him in Cincinnati. And usually, when that's the case, Both sides find a way to get it done. That doesn't mean it's not going to feel like you're getting your tooth pulled every day up until it does get done.

But yeah, I do think it's going to get done at some point.

Well, James, we see some of the best edge rushers, quarterback getters in the league. These guys are now getting in excess of. you know, forty ish, forty million dollars, a guy like Miles Garrett TJ Watt. What's been the holdup? Is it a matter of what the number is annually?

Are we looking at guaranteed money? Are they concerned about the length given his age? What's the holdup? I think it's all of the above. I don't think it's just one.

And today, certainly the guaranteed money has been in focus when you look at these national reports. And that's usually the case with the Bengals when it comes to guaranteed money. Very few players. That Long-term guarantees. Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase are really the only two.

T. Higgins broke that precedent as well and got some guaranteed money in year two of his extension that he signed in March. But those are the three. And so it's not just that. That is a big factor for sure when you compare probably what the Bengals are offering, and I don't have the exact number of guaranteed money to any of these other star pass rushers that have gotten paid this off season.

And so I think that's where that grape comes from. But I don't think it's just that. I think the years element is a major factor. And the Bengals might have just bumped it up to a two-year extension versus a one. But I know the years part of this was a factor for most of the offseason.

And then the overall salary. I think that's where Trey Almost certainly will have to make a concession and understand that, yeah, you're probably not going to get the 40 million that TJ Watt got from the Pittsburgh Steelers or Miles Garrett got from the Cleveland Browns. I think it'll be in the 30s, and I think it's going to make him a very, very rich man. But I would be surprised if the Bengals went there.

So, if I had to guess, I would say guaranteed money is the biggest sticking point. And then salary on an annual basis is probably second because I'm not sure that's there yet either. James Rapien is here with us on the JR Sport Reeshow coast to coast. He covers all things Cincinnati Bengals. And that's Trey Hendrickson.

He said he's not going to play this final year of his contract until he gets a new deal. And now he's being fined $50,000 a day. For not being at work, we have a guy in Shamar Stewart that they just drafted in the first round. Ridiculously athletic, but there are certainly questions about whether or not he'll be able to get the quarterback down. at the next level.

He's not even at work. Is this something you feel just as confident in that it'll be resolved? I do because I don't know. I think there's really another option for him. He's not that Trey had a ton of leverage, but if you're Shamar Stewart, You're not going to leave.

$18 million guaranteed on the table, $11 million within the first calendar year of signing. Like, I just, I think that this does get done. And it it's it's interesting over the past couple of days I've talked to people. Not Bengals related and not in Shamar Stewart's camp across the league about this default language that the Bengals are trying to use for the first time. And they seem to think that this shouldn't hold up or prevent a first rounder from signing and missing the practice time and holding out because of this is a bit far.

So we'll see how long this goes. I think there are things that Bengals can do to entice Shamar to sign. But I do think the bottom line is when you look at some of these. These contracts. It's much, much different when you're talking about a veteran and guaranteed money and all these things.

There's a lot of factors. With Shamar, the money is slotted. He knows what he's going to make. There's no arguing or debating or discussing what he's going to make or anything like that. But what the Bengals could do is they could say, all right, since you're willing to, if you're willing to accept this clause, we'll give you.

25 extra percent of your signing bonus right now.

So instead of 50 percent, we'll give you 75 percent of it. In 30 days, we'll give you the other 25%.

So, the when certain bonuses kick in, the Bengals could bump those up a little bit, I think, to help Shamar along. Because at this point, with how public this has been, JR, I don't think the Bengals can blink here with this default language. I think they have to make sure that it's in that contract. It's been too public, it's been out there. They can't backtrack now.

Otherwise, they're going to be in this position year after year after year with first-round picks as they try to set that precedent moving forward.

Well, James, we heard from owner and head boss man Mike Brown yesterday. He talks once a year. You got to get it in when you can. And his example that he used or scenario is just like, yeah, if the guy does some stuff, conduct detrimental to the team or football, if he's in prison. I don't want to pay him.

To me, it sounds like an extreme example. But are are are the Bengals really trying to change things up or or alter precedent by by doing this with Shamar, or is this kind of boilerplate boilerplate across the league? It's boilerplate across the league. Most teams do it. I would say two-thirds.

Of the league, 23 to 24 teams or so use this type of language. And the reason why, it's kind of ironic, because the reason why the Bengals haven't used this type of language is because they never got into guarantees past that first year outside of first-round picks.

So they haven't needed to use it. The Eagles have used it. The Eagles used it with veterans like Saquon Barkley. And so it's not like this is abnormal to use, but it's the first time they've really tried to implement it. They haven't used it with any veterans.

And I think they decided they're going to start it with rookies. And I'm sure they tried last year with Amarius Mims. Amarius Mims signed, he was their first-run pick last year, 18th overall. He signed a year ago today.

So it's not like they get their first rounders done. In a hurry, and who knows, maybe that debate of the default language was something that was an issue last year. Regardless, though, I do think that this is It's new for the Bengals. It's not new for the NFL. And that's why I ultimately think they need to and really have to at this point push to get it in there.

Because if they don't and they blink, then it's setting the precedent that no NFL team wants that they're going to blink when a rookie says, hey, I'm going to hold out. James Rapien is joining us here, covers the Cincinnati Bengals. You you talk about, and we all know how poor the defense was last year. It's just I I can't say ironic that the two contractual issues the Bengals are dealing with is is A, a rookie and then B, one of the best defensive players. Any entire game.

We know the Bengals need help on defense. You mentioned the fans. And typically, when you have players and you have ownership, I'd say in most cases, the fans typically will lean with the team and owner versus the players. What is the fans' sentiment about what's going on between the two of them right now? Yeah, I I think It's so interesting because if you look at the Trey comments, especially today.

Fans are extremely frustrated. And rightfully so, because it's just, it always seems to be something. And that's where the Bengals, like, I think. Most of what the Bengals are doing with Shamar, it makes sense. But it's not like they've earned the benefit of the doubt.

And so, if you haven't earned the benefit of the doubt, even if what you're doing makes sense in that moment with that individual situation. They're not going to get it. And so I think it's twofold. With Trey, I think there's mostly frustration with the team because he's proven. There are some that think, oh, well, he's 30 and why would you give him all that money and he should serve his contract?

I think that's a loud minority. I think the majority of fans want to see Trey Hendrickson signed. They know he's a big part of what the Bengals are doing and they need him to be a big part of it. If they're going to make a deep playoff run this year, it's hard to see that path without number 91 out there.

So keeping Trey Hendrickson happy and on the field and dialed in makes a lot of sense. With Streamar, I think it's the other way. I think people are starting to view it and say, all right, rookie, it's time. It's time to get in there. It's not like they're not guaranteeing your money or anything like that.

And not that that's necessarily right. I get what Shamar is saying. I also think that From my just my opinion. I wouldn't if I'm the Bengals or Shamar's camp. What Shamar missing time?

because of this.

So how do you get it resolved now?

So he can be the best that he can be. Because ultimately, that should be the goal for everybody involved is that he's the best that he can be as a rookie. And so I do think that fans kind of split with these two big contractual discussions and contract drama that Honestly, in Cincinnati, we've been talking about for months and months and months.

Well, James, we know that the Bengals last season, they barely missed on a postseason. They had the scramble late. They have an MVP candidate in Joe Burrow. They have two of the best wide receivers in the entire game. We know where they can go if the defense kind of.

carries its water. What's the expectation? Let's say, as I expect, Shamar and both Trey Hendrickson are there. to start the season at least. What should we expect from this team competing in the AFC North?

Well, I think if you get Trey in there and you get Shamar in there, they should be right there in the north. And whether it's because of Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase, T. Higgins, like you mentioned, or the continuity that they have now on offense, Mike Sickie is back at tight end. You have Chase Brown, who really established himself as a true starting running back last year. Their skill guys have settled in and even beyond the Jamar Chase's and T.

Higgins's of the world. They should be able to be a factor and make opposing defensive coordinators stay up pretty, pretty late at night, which you already had to do with Joe Burrow and those receivers.

So I think expectations should be high. But it is going to come down to two things. Obviously, the defense as a whole. New defensive coordinator Al Golden comes in from Notre Dame. Everyone's raving about him.

Guess what? Everyone raves about. coaches in in June and July. How do things go over the next month? How do things go when the games matter?

That's obviously going to be a question until we see them on the field when the games matter. And then this offensive line. It's always going to be a topic with Joe Burrow. because they're going to drop back as much as they do. Can they be more efficient and effective on the ground when they do run the football?

And can they protect Joe Burrow when he's dropping back in Baltimore, when he's dropping back in Cleveland week one, when you're dealing with all the pass rushers you have to deal with? I think there's a lot of questions about this team. I also think there's a lot of talent, especially at the top of the roster. And so it wouldn't shock me at all if they snap their streak of playoff list football and get back to the postseason. Hey, I don't know if the fans would appreciate that.

Right now, a feeling a little bit of angst. as they wait to see what happens with Trey Hendrickson and then also Shamar Stewart. And I mean, hey, based on what's going on right now, he better show up and get some sacks. He can't do all his fussing in July and August and not produce.

So. For his sake, I I hope it works out, James. Yeah, yeah, he's the pressure's on, and I think that's the other thing with fans: a lot of fans are already like, man, what is this? You know, what's going on here? But look, if he comes in and he's productive, This is just going to be a footnote.

This won't be his story. And that's what I've tried to remind people. It's hard for people to comprehend that in the moment, I think, sometimes. But if he comes in and works hard and his talent will probably handle the rest because he is a super talented kid. Without a shadow of a doubt.

Hey, James, thank you so much for taking the time to join us. Please tell everybody where they could follow you and all your work. BengalsTalk.com, Cincinnati Bengals Talk on YouTube, and the Lacton Bengals podcast. Hey, James, we appreciate you. We'll catch you on down the line, okay?

Absolutely. Thanks for having us. Oh, thank you. Shout out to James Rapien for joining us. Covers all things, Cincinnati Bengals.

Great information, great insight. As it relates to the contractual situations between Trey Hendrickson. And then also Shamar Stewart. Based on what he says, yeah, it seems like, can't call it a shoe-in. But I think there should be a little bit more room for optimism that both of these guys are going to show up to work.

For the Cincinnati Bengals. Who's just going to sit out for the whole season? I highly doubt that. That's in relation to both of the guys. It's the J.R.

Sport Brief Show here with you, coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to take a break. When we come back, I'm going to tell you about a wide receiver. I don't know if he has any good will. where he's playing.

That's Tyreek Hill. We'll hear from him on the other side of the break. speaking on the Miami Dolphins, but right now it's time for a news flash with Rich Ackerman. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here on the Infinity Sports Network.

Thank you so much to James Rapien for joining us on the last break. To talk about the Cincinnati Bengals. He's like, yeah, they got Trey Hendrickson. He wants to be there. They want him there.

It should work out. He's like, Yeah, they got Shamar Stewart. He's a rookie. What leverage does he have? He eventually should and is likely going to be there.

And for the Bengals who had a Piss poor defense last year. They need both of these guys to be competitive in the AFC North. Otherwise, they're cooked. Joe Burrow will be like, he has 50 touchdowns. Joe Burrow will say his thirty five points a game.

And Joe Burrow will have to look in the mirror after losses and just go Damn. Can we stop anybody?

So let's see what the Cincinnati Bengals do. Let's see when and and when not when and where, but when and under what circumstances Well Trey Hendrickson And Shamar Stewart shows up for work. If you missed that conversation with James, go ahead and hit rewind. On the free Odyssey app.

Some excellent perspective from James as it relates to both men. And their individual contracts. And I love how he brought up the fact of kind of fan perception. Because typically if a player holds out or he wants a new deal, The fans will typically look at the owner and go, What the hell are you doing? Like paid a guy.

Or they'll look at the player and go, hey man, show up to work, stop complaining. In the case of the Cincinnati Bengals and and Trey Hendrickson, I think people are for the most part looking at the bangles and going Pay the guy, he's been here, he's performed. Get the job done, and he's a he's a good soldier. I mean, the most that you're getting from him is Instagram posts that indicate that he's in Florida. and that he's nowhere.

In in Ohio.

So we'll see what happens with Trey Hendrickson. But I did mention to you somebody else before the break. I don't know how much more goodwill he has with his current team. And that's Tyree Kill. This dude, you put a microphone in front of him.

He's up, he's down, he's pray or praising Tua or He's kind of shading to her. You ask him who the best quarterback is. One day he'll say to her. is the most accurate quarterback in the league. You ask him another day on a podcast with the best 10 QBs he'll never mention to her.

And it it's that type of Just back and forth. They're just Makes Tyree kill. unbearable. and even last year, where Tua only went out there and played eleven games. I know, it's Tuatanga Valo.

We can expect him not to be healthy. The Dolphins went 8-9. Tyree Kill only hauled in 959 yards and six touchdowns. The Dolphins did not make the playoffs. Jalen Ramsey wanted to bail.

It's been reported that he was a massive distraction in the locker room. It's been said that Mike McDaniel is now on the hot seat, that he has no control over the team. And at the end of last season. When the Dolphins were sent packing, they knew they were going to go home. They had a season-ending loss to the New York Jets that put them at 8-9.

Tyreek Hill. stood in front of his locker. And he basically pouted. He complained. He talked about how bad the team was, and he might need to go elsewhere.

It was very vague. And it wasn't something becoming of a leader. It sounded like somebody who was ready to quit. On the team. Do you remember this?

Listen. This is my first time I I haven't been in the playoffs man, so I mean for me, like I said, man, I just gotta do what's best for me and my family, dog. If that's here or that's where, wherever the case may be, man, I'm finna open that door for myself, dog. As I'm opening the door, like... Like I'm out, bro.

You know, so. It was great playing here, but... Who says that after a loss? His agent Drew Rosenehouse had to basically come out and do damage control after the fact and just go, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, nah, he didn't mean that. He was just, you know, upset.

because he's a competitor.

Well, damn it, you can be a competitor. That doesn't mean you have to be a jerk of a teammate. Like Tua Tongavaloa hears this after a game and the season's over. What is Tua thinking about this? I got to throw the ball at this guy.

Come on now. Tyreek Hill, he spoke to the media today. What you just heard was at the end of last season. Tyreek spoke today. And this is what he had to say about his comments.

from last year. My whole life, man, I've always been a competitor, dog. Um My grandparents raised me that way. I enjoy winning. I mean, I know how to lose, but in those moments like that, I don't know.

I need to be better as a leader, and I realized that throughout this whole entire offense because ever since me and my family got here, this fan base has been special to us. You know, showing up to like different engagements. Whenever we meet people in the community, they've been great.

So, as a leader of this team and also as a leader of this community, I just need to be better in that sense. And then just know, like, Like, there are like a ton of little kids that look up to me as a player, as a role model. I I just gotta remind myself of that. Yeah, it's see this is kind of the The both ends of the spectrum. Tyreek Hill will tell you.

That I'm a competitor I know how to lose. But then he'll say I need to be a be a better leader.

Well, do you know how to lose? If after you lose, the first thing you're saying is, I need to maybe quit and go elsewhere. Like which one is it? Do you know how to lose or do you need to be better? Or can both be true?

I think ultimately, if you knew how to lose, you wouldn't say crazy things like that. Maybe you need to learn how to lose. and also be a better leader. And maybe you're not a great leader if you're saying I'm going to jump off the ship when things get real rocky. Tyree Kill has two years left on his contract.

We know he's making 30 mil a year at this point in time. He's no longer sitting at the top of the totem pole. as one of the highest paid wide receivers. We know his game is predicated on speed and He's a he's a a sh a shorter guy, but his speed is off the chains. He gets the ball and he goes.

Think about some of those highlights from when he was with the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes. Which is what makes him and and Jalen Waddle so difficult. Tuatonga Valoa doesn't have to stand around and look. It's basically dumped the ball off to these guys on a slant. and just wait for the home run to happen.

And so Tyree Kill, what is this game going to look like? As he continues to get older, is that speed? Is that ability to cut? Gonna be there forever? I'd think not.

This is what he had to say, the leader. about finally giving a hundred percent to the team. This whole entire offseason, I've been busting my tail. Me and my dad, I told my dad, I said, I want to see what it looks like whenever I focus just on football and I just focus on myself and family. You know what I'm saying?

I feel like I I really haven't been given the best version of Of me, of Tyreek, my whole entire career. You know what I'm saying? I've always been trying to be here, be there, but. Um, me being able to like slow down a little bit, train, and bust my tail for myself, and then also for this community and this team, I feel like it'll be worth it. You know what I'm saying?

So I just want to see what that version. of myself look looks like.

So I'm looking forward to it. Today was our con conditioning test and At 31 years old, I must say I haven't lost a step.

So I'm feeling great.

Okay. It it seems like and you know what, everybody You can either learn or you can get left behind. You know, I'm not going to have all that much confidence in him that he has changed on. Until he actually has. I'm not expecting much from the Miami Dolphins this year.

I think the team is soft. I think when your best player is Tyree Kill, who can certainly be very wishy-washy, how am I supposed to have confidence in the team? If they don't make the playoffs again, is he going to throw another fit? Is he going to do it publicly or is he going to go out there and do it privately? I just don't feel good about the Miami Dolphins, and I think ultimately Mike McDaniel will be the one.

So I have to pay for it. And I think they'll be looking at Tuatanga Valoa as well and just starting to go. Man, we don't want you here either. Yeah, I think things are gonna get real rocky. in Miami for the Dolphins.

I think it has already started. The JR Sport Reef Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Tyree Kill still trying to prove himself. I'm going to tell you about some NFL players today, past several days, that have decided to. To hang up the cleats.

I'm going to tell you about it on the other side, the JR Sport Rev Show, the Infinity Sports Network.
