It's the JR Sportbreeze show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Yeah, we have the NBA draft going on. Yeah, we're getting ready for the Major League Baseball All-Star break.
But FIFA is holding the Club World Cup here all across the United States of America. We're getting past the group stages. And last week, we had a chat with some of the amazing members of the Mamelodi Sundown. So right now we're having a conversation in the chat with someone who heads up Rock Nation Sports International.
His name is Michael Uromark. Michael, how are you, man? I'm doing great. It's raining here in South Florida, but we got a big match to attend at three o'clock Eastern with when the Mameloni Sundowns take the pitch. Super excited about the opportunity they have in front of them today. Super excited to join you.
Thank you so much. And Happy Wednesday. Absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt. You talk about the matchup against Fluminense.
They already beat Dortmund. They've done some amazing initiatives in the community in Florida. Explain to everybody, how the relationship between Rock Nation Sports and the Sundowns came to be, being that they were in South Africa. We know Rock Nation is international. How'd the relationship come to be? So very, very quickly, you know, when I started our international headquarters in London, Rock Nation Sports International in September of 2019, I also, in addition to wanting to sign some of the best football players in the world, as well as dip our toes into rugby and other sports, I started to build out a consulting business, a consulting vertical, to leverage some of the expertise that I had when I was running professional sports teams here in America. One of our first clients was the Mameloni Sundowns. We were doing business in South Africa.
And I told him, we could help him. And the rest is history. It's been an incredible journey to help the chairman and that club, you know, expand its brand, expand its profile, to help them from a commercial perspective.
And here we are in America. They're one of 32 teams in the Club World Cup. They have an opportunity tonight to make it to the final 16. It's a great story. It's a great franchise. It's a great place to be. It's a great place to be. It's a great place to be. It's a great place to be. It's a great place to be. It's a great place to be. It's a great place to be. It's a great place to be. It's a great organization. And we're just so blessed to have the opportunity to work with them.
The president of Roc Nation Sports International, Mike Iormarc, is here with us on the JR sport re-show Coast to Coast. You talk about how great the relationship has been. How important is an event like this, the FIFA Club World Cup, towards growing the brand? It's incredible. I mean, you know, when you think about a team in South Africa who may not get a lot of attention playing in the PSL, but this is a club, quite frankly, that has dominated the PSL, that has competed at the highest level in Africa, especially as part of CAF. And here they are in America, one of 32 teams that qualified. And for them to be able to tell their story and to play the way they have on this stage is enormous for them. And when you see the feedback that they've received from around the world, people love what they stand for. People love the style of play, the way they attack.
You mentioned, you know, the match against Dortmund. What an incredible, incredible match. And today they have the opportunity to take another big step and to grow their international profile.
So this tournament has been absolutely amazing for them. They've done some very unique activations in conjunction with RNSI here in America. It started obviously with the welcome, the signage welcome in Times Square, the video content that DJ Khaled put out welcoming them to America. We did the clinic. You talked about the clinic yesterday. I must tell you, it was one of the greatest events I've ever attended to see the smile on the faces of these young boys and young girls that attended the clinic and how the sundowns really wrapped their arms around these 50 young adults was absolutely incredible. You don't see clubs around the world taking the time to do that, especially when they're here for such an important, important tournament.
So for them to give the time to reach out, to support community while also expanding their brand, it's been incredible. Well, Michael, all of this is actively going on right now this minute. What's next? Well, listen, we'll see what's next.
But, you know, tonight's a big match. And if the club gets through, which I suspect they will, then then we just raise the bar. We keep doing more. We keep building the profile of the club and telling the club's unique story while also giving back to communities in which they visit while they're here in America. But I also think that it reestablishes their foundation for success back in South Africa. You know, they are carrying the South Africa flag here in America.
And quite frankly, they're also carrying the African flag. And so when they go home, the opportunities that we can capitalize on to continue to grow their brand and to grow this franchise will be right in front of us. And that's something that we need to take advantage of without a shadow of a doubt. Hey, Michael, thank you so much for the time. Please tell everybody where they can keep up with everything that you guys have going on with the Sundowns as well as Roc Nation Sports. Well, listen, you can follow us, you know, on on our Instagram. You can follow us on our social media platform. You can follow me at Michael, your mark. I try to inspire and motivate as many people around the world as I can while educating them on the great work that RNSI does on a daily basis. Oh, Michael, thank you so much for the time. Let's let's see what happens with the match and the rest of the tournament. You be well. JR, thank you so much. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network.
