It is the JR Sportbree show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia.
Thank you to everybody tuned in, locked in all over North America. I hope you are safe. I hope you're well. I hope you're amazing.
I hope you're just great. I'll be hanging out with you for one more hour. This show gets started every weekday at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific.
I'm in Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to our new full-time producer, Ryan Bottcher, holding things down in New York City. I hope you have had yourself a tremendous day, a tremendous night, a tremendous evening. I'll be with you for one more hour. 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific is when we get started. And we've discussed a lot, like the NHL Stanley Cup Finals already underway here in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The Florida Panthers are looking to repeat. The Edmonton Oilers are looking for some get back based on what we saw last season, game seven. Florida Panthers won, as it stands right now.
With about two minutes, two and a half minutes to go here in the first period, the Florida Panthers already have a lead two to one on the road. As we continue on here with this show, we will keep you up to date on everything going on in Edmonton. Hey, thank you so much to our guest who came through to discuss this matchup with us, Mick Kern, Sirius XM NHL radio host. He came on by and gave us his details and who he thought was going to win.
If you missed the whole conversation, go ahead and hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. We talked about some potential replacements for Tom Thibodeau, the Phoenix Suns have a new head coach in Jordan Ott, Kevin Durant, plenty of rumors about where he might end up. We talked about Mike McDonald, the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, basically already having to defend Sam Donald. The media in Seattle is already like, hey, when Sam Donald sucks, well forget it. Is he going to be the starting quarterback?
Mike McDonald's like, man, give me a break. Can we get through, can we get through OTAs before you start asking me about Sam Donald? And so we've discussed a lot, talked about the NBA Finals matchup. Game one is tomorrow in Oklahoma City. And you know, as we continue on with the show at the end, I'll tell you about a few things that took place this day in sports history.
And then as I do every single Wednesday, I just gave you a new top six list. The NBA had an announcement today. Adam Silver was on Fox, and he said that in 2026, the NBA All-Star game is changing yet again. The NBA All-Star game, no mini games, no mini tournaments, no young guys versus old guys, no you pick your team, I pick my team. The NBA is going Team USA versus the world.
Now that's a big deal. Because I think the guys from outside of the United States of America, the Giannis, the Donchiches, the Shay Gilgus-Alexanders, the guys that typically always get beat up by America in international play. Well, by joining forces, I think that they're gonna, they're gonna play hard and just beat Team USA. I think they would beat them.
Let's see what they do in 2026. And so for today's top six list, I gave you a list of some of the biggest and best international players impact on and off the court that we've ever seen in the NBA. If you missed the full list, of course, you know, rewind on the free Odyssey app. By the way, thank you to people listening live on their local affiliates. If you got Sirius XM, it's channel 375.
If you have a smart speaker, ask it to play the Infinity Sports Network. And number six, I gave you Dakembe Mutombo. And number five, I gave you Yao Ming. And number four, Giannis Atteracumpo. And number three, I gave you Nikola Jokic. And number two, I gave you Hakeem The Dream Olajuwon. And at number one, because of his longevity, 21 years, because of how many time or how much time he spent with one team, the Dallas Mavericks, MVP, Finals MVP, a championship. And number one, I gave you Dirk Nowitzki. And we've had some callers that have shared some other great names of international players.
Of course, there's more than six. I said I didn't have Joel Embiid on my list because I think he's a whiny crybaby. I think he's soft. I don't think he's dedicated to the game. I talked about Steve Nash. I don't think he had as big of an impact, of an impact, as some of the guys that I just mentioned here on the list. As great as he was with his MVP, someone brought up Pau Gasol.
And so yeah, we've had many, many great players from outside the United States of America. The phone lines are open if you want to give me a holler. The number is 888-710-4ISN.
That's 888-710-4ISN. Let's go ahead and hit the phone lines. And speaking of international play, man, we've had some international incidents that I do want to share with you.
These are the worst type of incidents. Rudy is here from Tennessee. Hey, Rudy, you're on the JR Sport Reshow. What's up? Hey, it's great to be on the show again.
Up here in Myrville, Tennessee, just a little bit north of you. I kind of think maybe, I don't know if he fits in this top six or not, but Vlade Divock was pretty good. Oh, well, he was, he was more than pretty good. I mean, he came over, was a great passer, could knock down the shot, great facilitator. Vlade made an all-star team, even though it was kind of later on in his career.
I like Vlade Divock. I mean, he certainly, I don't want to say set the stage, but he is one of the earlier European players to come over and actually ball out and not be punked around. I think the caller, like two callers before the break, he mentioned a French player too for San Antonio. He might be talking about Manu Ginobili, who was really, really good. No, no, Manu Ginobili was not French. He's from Argentina. Oh, I thought he was French. Oh, my bad.
No, no. You knew Jeremy Lin was from America though, right? You knew that much, right? I did know that. I did know that. And he was one whale of a player.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, well, a few weeks ago, you, you had a top six of coaches that will let go and shouldn't have been let go or whatever. And I brought up all the St. Louis history. I don't know if you remember that or not with Bud Wilkerson. Was it coaches? No, that wasn't coaches. That was about teams, like teams that moved or something like that, right? No, it was about coaches that had, had been let go or who should never have been fired is what it was. And I, and I, and I brought up Bud Wilkinson should not have been hired. And then of course, the St. Louis Cardinals fired Don Coryell, the St. Louis Cardinals, baseball Cardinals fired Joe Torrey. And I forgot this one, what a massive one this one was. The St. Louis Blues fired Joel Quinville and all he did was go on and win three cups with the Hawks, which is their dreaded enemy. And I forgot about that. So what are you telling me, Rudy? I'm going to have to do a new top six list now that Tom Thibodeau got fired yesterday? I'm telling you what, you may have to. That one there kind of shocked me. I really didn't see that one coming. Yeah, too, too soon, Rudy.
I'll get to that maybe, maybe next year. Okay. There we go. All right. Hey, Rudy, thank you. Well, thank you so much. I enjoy you for listening.
Shout out to Rudy for calling from Tennessee. I don't think I did a top six list on that. I'm going to have to go back and look. I got records. I got records on everything. Okay. I mean, I got records from YouTube videos that I created. Yeah. The top six list is a YouTube creation. I started this on YouTube. Well, damn it almost 15 plus years ago. So yeah, I got plenty of content. I don't remember that top six list.
I'm glad he does though. I'll look it up. 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN. Let's go to Kansas.
I don't know where in Kansas. We'll figure it out. Let's talk to Malcolm. Malcolm, you're on the JR sport reshow. What's up? Hey, what's up, JR? It's Malcolm from Wichita, Kansas.
Ooh, you in Wichita. Okay. What's up, Shaka?
What's up, Shaka? So that's right, baby. Uh, man, so I, I ain't got to see, okay. See play a few songs, you know what I'm saying?
Live, uh, at home over the years. Like I've seen them play with KD, triple dub Russ and James Harden, you know, as soon as he blocked us and honestly, you know, the reboot and I'm telling you, man, this is a different creature. This is a different animal. Indiana ain't got nothing coming, bro. Like even like just watching them do shoot around. They look like giants out there, man. I want to go watch them against the Raptors.
Chet first night back, Chet probably going to triple double against Pascale Siakamu averaging less than one block a game against a matchup that's averaging two a game. You know what I mean? So, yeah, I don't know, man. I want it to be an interesting series, but I just don't see that happening. I'm saying Thunder up in five, man.
Yeah. I think, I think most of us are looking at the Thunder in five. I saw them play here this season. They were here in Atlanta, Georgia in February and they just, they move, they play. This sounds crazy to say they play basketball.
Like they're not playing ice. They play basketball the way it should be played. They play basketball. They move the ball. They're not standing around. They move on offense and defense. They cut the, they play basketball. I know it sounds crazy to say, you know what the hell I'm saying? They play ball and it's, it's, it's a nice, it's a nice change of pace.
And yes, when you talk about their size and their versatility, I think maybe everybody, maybe I think the Pacers fans, I think Pacers fans know that they got their work cut out for them and good luck on that one. 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN. Hey, what do we got here? Let's go to Salem. Let's talk to MC. Not, not to be confused with Father MC. Hey MC, you're on the Sheryl Sport Reshow.
What's up? Thank you, my friend for having me. You have a great show and I love that you're from the ATL, but I wanted to mention Drosin Petrovic, the God Father of Croatian basketball who died way too early and I need to give him his props.
You know, the Serbians and them and the Slovenians, but in between the Croatians. And I taught some Croatian girls back in the day and they worshiped him. And when he died, it was like the sun had set, had been eclipsed. And I think too many people forget him. And God bless you for what you're doing, my friend, whatever God you worship.
Well, thank you so much, MC, for calling from Salem. You know, it's unfortunate the guy died in a car accident. I don't think people forget him. It's just that there's, it's not a big body of work, but if you listen to players who went up against him, they tell you how bad of a dude he was on a basketball court. How the shot was nasty, how it was wet. I remember him as a kid watching him with the nets out in New Jersey. I didn't go out there to watch him because, I mean, I hated going out there.
Even as an adult, I didn't want to go out there. And they also, this is maybe not the appropriate time, they talked about how he could also beat you offensively with his body odor when he started to sweat. I think, Botch, have you ever played against somebody in some type of sport where you just had to go, I don't even want to play defense on this guy. Have I happened to you in life? All the time.
When you play, when you play rec basketball, some people do not know what deodorant is, don't know what showering is, and then also a baseball kid I knew from high school, he went through like a hitting streak, so he didn't wash his uniform for a very long time. Oh my god. So he stunk when he walked out onto the field. Yep, so everybody avoided him. Oh man.
Well, if he ever had to bust it down to first base, the first baseman, probably to his advantage, right? He didn't want to be nowhere near him. Yeah, run away, get off the bag, cover his nose. Oh man, yeah. I think I'm past that, and I'm not being around nobody that stinks, okay?
I think the only place that I might be around someone with B.O. is an airplane, and I don't even, I think I've advanced past that, I think, I hope. Yeah, take a bath, okay?
888-710-4ISN, that's 888-710-4ISN. Let's go to Wisconsin. Let's talk to Paul. Paul, you're on the chair of Sportbreeze Show, what's up my man? Hey good, thanks for having me today, and I really enjoy the show and hearing you come on and talk in some sports with the United States every day, you're a great program.
Thanks. Yeah, I'm here in Wisconsin, of course, we got the Bucks, we got 2,500 wins, we got Giannis, who's the young player, he's got 21,000 points. I just wanted to thank you and your sports intelligence and putting a guy on a basketball list, and just thank how many tens of thousands and hundreds of thousands of players they've been in history, and just to have somebody like Giannis on a list that goes out every day, gives his best, he gets his 58 points, he gets his 20 rebounds, he puts up 30 some points a game, he gives the effort, he does some slam dunks from 15, 20 out. Giannis is just a good player and we definitely appreciate having him here and we welcome any good players of his caliber both in the United States and around the world, and then I wanted to tell you that I think you're really super great about talking about USA Against the World because this is something the NBA has wanted to do for a long time, and this is something that the NFL is doing right now, playing the USA Against the World, and we got the hockey Russians against the United States coming up in Canada, in the Olympics in Italy coming up, and we got the World Baseball Classic coming up in Los Angeles, and this is so exciting to have USA Against the World and for USA to be taking on the top five or the top ten under the top 15 countries in all these sports. Yeah, well listen, USA, well let's beat up on everybody in the sport's way, right?
Why don't we do that? Yeah, it's better than all the other good things, all the other good and bad things that are going on in the world. If everyone would just put all their guns down and they just end all these wars and just everybody a ball to play with, we'd all be better off in a more peaceful world, but I think that's what's coming up the next couple years.
LA 28, Italy 26, and we got football, basketball, baseball, and hockey, USA Against the World. Hey, sign me up Paul, and then when they play all these games and all of these matches, what they need to do is play Michael Jackson, Heal the World in the background. We could all make the world a better place, okay?
Absolutely, for the trauma of the future. That's right, Paul. Thank you. Thank you. Call anytime, Paul. Thank you for calling from Wisconsin.
Yeah, Heal the World, make it a better place for you and for me and the human race. Yeah, all guns down. Well, all gats down.
Anyway, saying a little too much here. 888-710-4ISN, if you know all gats down, shout outs to you. 888-710-4ISN, Jay is here from Baltimore. What's up, Jay? How are you, man? What's going on, Jay? I love your show.
Good show, man, when I do get a chance to hear it. Thank you pretty much. Hit the nail on the head with that top list. Only my own thing is I understand completely why you play Yao Ming there, because I'm going to be playing Steve Nash and Yao Ming. In my opinion, I think Steve Nash did have a great impact, but you know, they stand by your hands. Everybody got one.
You're just one of the ones that's a hit of the curve to get paid the hell yours out. Yeah, well, I look at the countries. I go Canada or China, and I think one country's a little bit crazy about basketball.
It has a bigger population. Yeah, so I completely get it, but I think Tony Parker was definitely a statement. I think that's one of the people keep thinking about when they think about the French player from the Spurs.
They think about Tony Parker. He was talking about it. He was talking about a big man. Yeah, I thought he said big man, but I couldn't recall a big man. He said big man. I'm like, I don't know who the hell he's a big man.
I don't know. Yeah, he's got some better than mine. I can only think about Tony Parker. Yeah, he was barely six feet tall.
I don't know no French big man. We'll think about it. Well, thank you, Jay. You had me on that one. No problem. Have a good one, man. Good show. You as well. Thank you. He might have himself.
I'm like French big man. You know, every now and then a caller hits me up with something and I go, just after cursory thought. Now look, I'm not going to sit here and tell you that I know everything or that I remember everything. Okay. There's a lot of people who sit around with microphones in front of them and they think they do, or they want to project the fact that they do. I don't, but I think I know a lot and I'll give it a cursory thought and I'll go, wait a minute.
I'm not even going to think about this any further because it just, it doesn't make sense. Hey, unless I find a French big man, I'm a look in the break. It's the JR Sport Breeze show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network, 888-710-4ISN.
That's 888-710-4ISN. I'll get some more of your calls on the other side of the break. I'll give you an update. We'll get an update on what's going on in the Stanley cup finals game one between Florida and Edmonton. Of course, at the end of the show, we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history.
Yeah, I'm down to my final hour here. It's the JR Sport Breeze show, the infinity sports network. You're listening to the JR Sport Breeze. It is the JR Sport Breeze show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network. Hey, we just got underway here in the second period. The Florida Panthers have a 2-1 lead against the Edmonton Oilers and game one of the Stanley cup finals. Of course, here on the infinity sports network, we will keep you up to date on everything going on in Edmonton.
We've talked about a lot, had quite a few call us for the top six list. You can still call me. I'll be here until the top of the hour. So about another 30 minutes or so.
You can call me up 888-710-4ISN. Of course, at the end of the show, we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history. But I do want to get a couple of stories out here before I get back to the phone lines. We've done a lot of talk tonight about international players. We've talked hockey, Team USA versus the world.
We've had some callers who've mentioned international themes and what have you. And man, let me tell you, you can go anywhere in the world and it feels like people are just behaving badly just and they want to put this on social media for the world to see. This is a crazy story. All right. We all know, you know, I don't know if we all know.
Let's listen to this. OK, NBC News. There was Gabby Douglas. She's one of the top track stars in the world. And more recently, there was a gentleman from Pennsylvania who's now been banned from track events because he was heckling her with some of the worst things that you will ever hear because he was trying to win his parlay.
Listen to this NBC News report. Don't tell Gabby like you did yesterday, Gabby. This is what American track superstar Gabby Thomas heard as she studied for a women's 100 meter dash over the weekend. Melissa got married this year, got a black husband. Gabby got a white guy.
I want Melissa to win. This video from a Philadelphia competition posted on X, the user posting, quote, I made Gabby lose by heckling her and it made my parlay win. The user, who hasn't been publicly identified, also posting screenshots of his fan duel parlay winnings, showing he made nearly $700 in part by betting on Thomas's competitor, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden. A second post shows a confrontation at the event between him and Thomas. You know what I'm doing here? I support, I support track and field.
You're going down, Gabby. Thomas firing back at the heckler on X, saying, quote, This grown man followed me around the track as I took pictures and signed autographs for fans, mostly children, shouting personal insults, something the poster denies. What she said on the tweet was absolute lie.
It was done for sympathy. Also posting this video showing him doing the same heckling at the men's event. The biggest hanger in track and field. Remember that. Oh, please don't don't be that fan.
Come on now. And then you want to double down like you're on video, acting a complete ass. There's another word that I want to put with ass, but you're acting a complete ass. And then you double down by saying she's looking for sympathy. Look like a clown. You look like a jerk. Hey, listen, some people love the attention.
I'm sure he's appreciating the attention that he got. He just comes across as a terrible human being. If I got to choose.
I know this sounds crazy. Some people might think otherwise. If I got to choose between being a complete jerk and just making a couple thousand dollars and just being an ass, I think I would try to find that thousand dollars somewhere else. I mean, if you got a bet and be a jerk about it just to another human being, then you just deserve all the negativity coming your way. You deserve a punishment. You deserve to go one on one with a husband. He should be out there whooping your ass.
Okay. And it doesn't just stop there. You talk about bad behavior. Lance McCulloughs, God bless him.
He just came back, just won his first game with the Astros. A couple of weeks ago, this man was receiving death threats because of his performance online. Like people were going after him and his family. And we found out after an investigation, it wasn't overseas better. Somebody who's not even in the United States of America was sending this guy threats to him and his family.
Like, what are we doing? This is what Lance McCulloughs had to say about this a couple of weeks ago. It's been tough evening. You know, I understand people are very passionate and people love the Astros and love sports, but, you know, threatening to find my kids and murder them is a little bit tough to deal with. So, you know, just as a father, I think I've, there have been many, many threats over the years aimed at me mostly. And I think actually one or two people from other issues around baseball actually had to go to jail for things like that. But, you know, I think, I think bringing kids into the, to the equation, you know, threatening to, you know, find them or next time they see us in public, they're going to stab my kids to death. Things like that is, is tough to, to hear as a dad.
Yeah, I can imagine. And so there are still open charges against this individual overseas. They haven't investigated him because I'm sure that guy would get beat to a pulp or not investigated.
They haven't made his name public. Come on, man. This man said he was drunk when he was betting on the game.
Could you imagine being in Houston, Texas and some guy in, I don't know, Ireland is over here betting on your game and then you suck and he's threatening to kill and murder your kid. Like, what are we doing? What a world. Like, we can certainly go ahead and do better. Like, we have to be a little bit more transparent. We should be a little bit more transparent, you know, especially when it comes to social media and people and their ability to think that they can just say whatever the hell it is that they want. And then there's another story.
This is not as negative, not negative at all, but these people, they, they stole, they were criminals. Okay. I think, uh, why would you want to publicize this?
I have no idea. I want you to listen to this story from the Daily Mail. The Champions League final was just over the weekend. PSG, shout outs to them. They, they, they went out there and destroyed the competition. Five goals to nothing. I want you to listen to this from the Daily Mail. Two fans, they found a way into the stadium and let's just say, uh, they had to stay somewhere where I would not want to be for multiple hours.
Listen to this. A pair of TikTokers spent 27 hours in stadium toilets to sneak into the Champions League final for free. Belgian duo, Neil Remery and Senna Havabeka sneaked into the Allianz Arena the day before the game posing as workers in high vis vests. They then proceeded to roam the stands posing for content and installed out of order signs on toilet doors to establish their grubby base for the night. As the game approached, the pair bluffed their way past a steward to get into the stands and found two unoccupied seats among the Paris Saint-Germain faithful. We looked carefully at which security guard was paying the least attention. While on the phone and with food in our hands, we just walked on and suddenly we were inside.
Remery told Belgium's public broadcaster, VRT News. Come on. Oh, by the PSG, they beat Inter Milan five goals to nothing. Are you going to, are you sneaking into an arena? Are you sneaking into a stadium as a construction worker? Hanging out in a toilet for an entire day just to get into a match for free? And then you're going to go ahead and tell on yourself about it?
You're going to talk to the media? Like everybody wants to do everything for the attention and news. Batra, when you sent me that, I just, I believed it because I feel like this has been done a couple times before. I think people haven't necessarily publicized it, but this happens. People actively put out of order signs on bathroom stalls and sit there for 27 hours eating, I don't know, granola bars with your friend in the bathroom. I don't think that's common. No, are people sneaking into stadiums and trying to hide out? We've had this happen before. Yeah, but to this extent? No, not no damn toilet. Not as far as I know.
No, hell no. Also, like I read the article too, there were workers who came in and checked things out and they had no idea that this toilet was out of service or it's supposed to be. So it didn't make any sense how security didn't change. How security didn't do their job. Hey, well, I mean, they kind of, I watched a video.
These guys hustled their way in speaking to a young woman. I got some vests on. And then after that, it was, it was free reign.
I just don't know. Shout outs to Germany. I love Germany. I love their beer. I love Berlin. I love her.
I like her first and I like a lot of stuff about Germany. I ain't sitting in no toilet nowhere for 24 hours. Marco, would you do this? Uh, no, this is like Andy Dufresne though. This is Shawshank.
I mean, to get out of prison. Yeah. Uh, to watch a soccer game yet. No, I'm going to pass.
I don't, I don't know. I don't want to be in a stall for 24 hours to watch a soccer. Is there anything that you would, well, how much money? Here we go. How much money would you sit in a toilet stall in Germany for?
How, how much money would it take? 24 hours? Uh, we're talking like a regular, like bathroom and it's cleaned and you're just in the stall. You're just kind of hanging out. Cause that doesn't sound awful. I got a price for that.
How about this? How much would it take for you to hang out in the stall after the soccer match? Yeah. See, that's where it gets a little bit dicier, but again, maybe I don't know.
I, I don't know. I was envisioning almost like a porta potty. That to me is where you got to draw the line.
That almost feels like, you know, at some point you got to have some self-respect because I don't know how you can handle that for a full day to watch a soccer game. Yeah. You, you gotta, you gotta sit in a porta potty for 24 hours as it gets loaded onto the, the porta potty truck and driven around. Okay. That's what I'm saying. Like, I feel like that's where the line is that you'd have to come up with some serious life altering cash for me to even consider that.
But a nice bathroom? I don't know. You can probably convince me. I don't know.
I might, you know, stall. It's all right. These are young guys. They, they got famous off of it. They got a couple of people probably fired in the process, which I just think is absolutely terrible. It's the world we live in.
Who cares about it? I'm going to break the law and then I'm going to, you know, get some other people in trouble in the process of it just so I can be famous. That's awful in and of itself, but I got to say this.
We also, our standards are way too damn low. You did this for like clout, for internet clout, not even for money, for internet clout. Like that's worth it. I feel like we've, you know, we've lowered the bar here.
I mean, you could do certain things, like I said, to get out of prison, to get some life altering money. Now we're discussing things that at least we understand why. Internet clout for this? Maybe they got a couple extra subscribers on TikTok or something. I don't know. Have fun with the blue water. Yeah, that's what it is. Wow. Wild stuff.
That's some, anyway. It's the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We're going to take a break when we come back on the other side. We're going to start to wrap things up. We'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history. Man, we got a lot of history being made right now in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Game one of the Stanley Cup Finals to get an update on this game and everything else going on in the world of sports.
It's time for a news flash. Here he is. It's Marco Balletti. You're listening to the JR Sport Brief. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. 888-710-4ISN.
That's 888-710-4ISN. Man, how we got five, we got these top two teams, right? We got five goals here already in game one of the Stanley Cup Finals. In the second period, about four minutes to go, and they're just running up the score.
The Panthers lead 3-2 against Edmonton. If there is a goal that pops up before we get out of here, I most certainly will tell you. I assume by the time we're out of here, we're going to be at the end of the second period.
Man, Tom Floss says, I appreciate hockey. They start early. You know, we'll see what happens if we get an overtime. This game could go on forever.
I feel like with some of these NBA games, they just go on forever and ever. I feel like the NBA wouldn't even... Batra, what time do they tip tomorrow? Is it nine o'clock? If it's nine o'clock, that's absurd. I'd assume it's eight twenty, eight thirty.
Oh my God. Let's see. They take forever in the NBA. Eight thirty, it says. So that means eight forty-five-ish? Yeah, eight forty.
Yeah, we'll be here forever. That game is going to end and then there's going to... Yeah, I don't know. What time do you think that game is going to end on the East Coast? Eleven thirty?
Eleven forty-five-ish? Oh my God. Whatever. We'll be sitting right here watching the Oklahoma City Thunder probably get a head start on the Indiana Pacers. We just heard from Tyrese Halliburton. He's like, yeah, nobody believes in us. And honestly, that's just how we like it. Good.
Good. Come back to us in a few games. Now, look, if they end up winning the NBA championship, there's going to be a lot of people going, yeah, you right, guys. You all are a hundred percent right.
I might be one of them. I just don't think it's going to happen. That's going to be some major history if the Pacers end up going out here and beating the Oklahoma City Thunder. Well, speaking of history, we're at the end of the show.
You know what that means? It's time to go through a few things. So talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history. Back in the days when I was young, I'm not a kid anymore, but some days I sit and wish I was a kid again. It's time for this day in sports history. You see, back in those days, we had radio and you couldn't see anything.
And it was primitive and lousy and we liked it. On the JR Sport Brief Show. I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass. It is the JR Sport Brief Show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network.
Today, it's been this way all day. It's June 4th, 2025. But let's go back. Wow. Quite a few things took place on June 4th, 1974.
How about this? The NFL told the city of Seattle, congratulations, you're getting the Seahawks. Yeah, the franchise was granted to Seattle in 1974. God rest and God bless his soul. Hank Aaron, June 4th, 1974. He set a National League record with his 16th career grand slam with a beautiful soul. Hank Aaron was and this is, well, this is not good news in 1974.
You might recall this, maybe you don't. The Cleveland, well, the Guardians, formerly the Indians at the time, they were playing a baseball game. They were taking on the Texas Rangers and because of low attendance, they decided to have a 10 cent beer night. And let's just say, well, Cleveland had to forfeit the game because their fans were too drunk and drunk people do drunk things.
I want you to listen to this from ESPN. Wanted to get his hat. So I ran up behind Jeff Burrows and I had it in my hand and then I dropped it.
And so I went down to pick it up and I looked up and he looked at me and I said, oh hell. He kicked me right in the thigh and he stumbled and fell down from the kick and then the fans just really started pouring in. Now there's another group of morons running around in the outfield. Billy Martin said that he thought that Burrows had been knocked down and so he gets a bat and says, boys, let's go get him. And then the Rangers are defending themselves against this mob coming in. Now it's a full scale riot. There has to be 200 people and more coming on the field.
Yeah, I guess this is the equivalent of, I don't know, $1 beer a night, $5 beer a night, 10 cent beer a night. Yeah, I wonder how that went, what we just heard, unfortunately. Hey, June 4th, this took place in 1980. Gordie Howe said, I'm done. The man was 52 years old, had more points, had more goals than anybody, his six time MVP, had four titles. He said it was a wrap and he called it quits, but his actual last goal took place in April of that year, 1980. Let's listen to Gordie Howe, this man's last goal, calling it a wrap in 1980.
Just a pleasure to see this big guy out there. He's playing with one of his sons, the wireless beat Detroit six to three and Gordie Howe. Yeah, he called it a wrap.
52 years old. Yeah, that was, that was about it. That was courtesy of Red Wings TV. Hey, June 4th, 1990, Penn State, they joined the Big 10. They would actually become the 11th member of the Big 10. We talk about all this moving, all this shaking in the world of sports right now. Let me tell you, Penn State was the first edition, the first team to join the Big 10 since Michigan State did it in 1949. Wild stuff. They didn't start playing until 1993 and then they also went ahead and won their first Big 10 title the year after that.
Yeah, Penn State doing it big and now every day, everybody just moves around. June 4th, let's hit the fast forward button. June 4th, 2009. Randy Johnson, the big unit. This man finally won 300 games. He was pitching for San Francisco at the time. Yeah, not the uniform you remember Randy Johnson in, but the Giants beat the Nationals five to one and the big unit struck out only two batters.
Yeah, not the big unit. Listen to this man as he won number 300. Randy Johnson pitches six great innings and wins number 300. He joins Steve Carlton, Tim Keefe, Christy Mathewson, Gaylord Perry, Warren Spahn, and Mickey Welch. They all won their 300th game wearing a Giants uniform. Yeah, this man finished with 303 wins. Yeah, Randy Johnson was like, I got nothing better to do. Let me just finish this up here.
How about this? June 4th, 2019. A little bit more recent. Bruce Bochy, win number 1,000. Of course, he was a Giant at the time. The Giants beat the Mets nine to three. When I think about Bruce Bochy, I think about the voice of God. It was nice to hear him after every World Series victory. He just won another one with the Rangers a couple years ago.
Let's listen to Bruce Bochy after he joined John McGraw as the only Giants manager with 1,000 wins. Listen. I'm just right in the backs of you guys and I can't thank you enough. And this is one I'll remember the way you fought today. And, you know, it's all about you guys. It really is. And I'm not just saying that, but it's been just an honor and I'm enjoying this year.
I said I would. And you guys, I just love the way you keep bouncing back. You know, we started out tough this road trip. Now you're playing great baseball and that was a hell of a win. But thanks and I appreciate everything. Let's keep it going.
All right. Man, I could listen to Bruce Bochy speak all day. OK, bacha. God forbid something bad happens to me. Put out the message. I'd like Bruce Bochy to read my eulogy. OK, I need him to record my my eulogy. All right. I'm running that down right now.
Well, thank you so much. Yeah, Bruce Bochy, the voice of God. That's a that's the guy right there. Anyway, those are a few things that took place this day in sports history. Every day, something new is written down in the annals of time. And so, of course, there'll be more and more and more at this current moment, at the second game, one of the Stanley Cup finals, Florida leads Edmonton three to two. I want to give a big thank you to our guest, Nick Kern, for coming through and joining us. Covers all things NHL for Sirius XM.
You can catch him on his show under review. He came through as well and gave us a preview. I want to thank everybody for participating in tonight's top six list as we took a look at some of the best international players that the league, the NBA, has ever seen. And we'll get you all set and ready for game one of the NBA finals between Oklahoma City and the Indiana Pacers.
