It is the JR Sportbrief show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. I'm coming to you live from Atlanta, Georgia.
Thank you to everybody tuned in, locked in all over North America. If you want to get a hold of me, you can. Here's the number. It's 888-710-4ISN. That's 888-710-4ISN. You can find me on the internet too.
I am at JR Sportbrief. Do yourself a favor. Do the general public a favor. Don't look me up on the internet while you're driving.
Don't do that. Hands free. Don't do anything while you're driving. Two hands on the wheel.
I think it's 10 and 12. I don't know. I drive with one hand. I don't know if I'm supposed to say that. Forget I said that.
I put two hands on the wheel and I hunch over like I'm 90 years old. Okay. Anyway, it's 10 and two. Yeah.
Well, I'm hunched over 10 and two. I'm looking in the rear view. I fixed my mind. I do all of that.
The Sterling driving record. I don't. But I pay attention though. Anyway, I'll be hanging out with you for the next three hours.
The show gets started every weekday, 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. We've been hanging out for an hour. We talked about the Knicks and the Indiana Pacers. They got another game.
New York Knicks stand alive trying to force a game seven back in New York City. But first they got a win in Indianapolis and we got the Stanley Cup finals that set. We got the Edmonton Oilers and we got the Florida Panthers.
They are back at it. Hey, I'm going to get into Kyle Pitts. He might be done here in Atlanta, Georgia. We got Bryce Huff.
He might be moving to San Francisco, reuniting with Rob Salah. We're going to talk about Zion. Oh, my goodness.
It is just. I talk for a living. In the words that I want to use for this guy, I can't use on the radio.
They're so positive that the world would explode if I use them. OK, but Zion is not doing good right now. He physically is fine. He might be fat. I have no idea.
But he has some personal issues that are very public right now that are not good. Hey, how about this? In 20 minutes, we'll be joined by Sean Powell. Covers all things NBA, NBA dot com. I'll ask him about Giannis instead of Kumpo. I think Rashawn from Baltimore asked about him.
So we'll ask Sean Powell to get his thoughts on Giannis. We got to some college football to get into. Fans rushing the field.
There's some half million dollar fines. The Big 12 is sick of the playoff. It's sick of the SEC.
We got a bunch of NFL players this week. Didn't show up to work. It's been busy.
You want to be a part of the show? Easy. Here's the number. Pay close attention.
I want you to listen to me. Eight eight eight seven ten four ISN. That's eight eight eight seven ten four ISN. There's no NHL tonight. There's no NBA tonight. Damn it, we had the spelling bee yesterday.
Man, I used to watch. I'm trying to figure out how I missed the spelling bee this year. Come on now.
I can't believe I missed the spelling bee. Damn it. Hey, Nico, later on, we got to we got to play the kid who won. We got to do that later in the show.
Can we do that? You got it. I don't know what that kid's I don't know his name, but I saw it. I can spell. I was I was going to say, do you consider yourself a pretty good speller? I do. You want why? You want to ask me to spell the word that this kid won? You have it in front of you.
I don't have it in front of me, but I can grab it and we could try it. OK, let me let me pick up some calls, because right before we went to break, we were lamenting the fact that, yeah, baseball is pretty much the only thing going on right now. And it's like, well, some teams suck.
And I think I don't know, did you bring it up or did a caller bring it up is like what city? What baseball team is the only professional team in town outside of the A's and Sacramento, even though I mean, well, you got the Kings there, as you mentioned. So, hey, I'm still trying to figure it out without looking it up. It's easy for me to look at all the teams. It'd be easy just to go, OK, well, this is a process of elimination. 8 8 8 7 10 for ISN. That's 8 8 8 7.
10 for ISN, I'm still thinking. What Major League Baseball team is the only team in town? I'm sorry, I'm trying to start off in the the east, ALNL. I think every team there, what about the Braves? We got everything here in Atlanta. Mets got everything. Washington and other things. Philadelphia, of course.
Yankees. Baltimore has everything. Toronto. Ah, well, yeah, Toronto got Maple Leaf.
Toronto has everything. Stuff for NFL. I don't know. 8 8 8 7 10 for ISN.
I'm not thinking about not going any further than that. Joe is calling from Virginia. Joe, you're on the J.R.
Sport Reshow. What's up, Joe? Hey, J.R., great show. I've been listening to you for last few months on your show.
Always makes the ride home enjoyable. Thanks for that. Absolutely. Wait, wait. Don't tell me the answer if you know it. But do you got a hint here? You got a hint?
Yeah, yeah. I mean, give me a hint. I mean, in my opinion, they have like the worst color scheme in Major League Baseball.
Oh, my God. It's not Miami. Have you seen the Marlins uniforms? It's not Miami. No, it's worse than that. OK, there's this MLB team has the worst color scheme in all a base.
It can't be. It's not the Astros. I think some of their uniforms are pretty ugly. It can't be the Rockies. I actually think their their uniforms are pretty cool.
The worst color scheme. OK, so give me a hint. I need another hint. Are we at least we east or we west? We're west. OK. Oh, my God. The the Angels.
No, you're getting close to the Padres. Hey, ding, ding, ding. You're a winner, my man. What a robbery, man, that you. You know what? That is true. But it is such a shame. That is that's terrible because we we know the football team still deserves to be there.
OK. And then the Clippers were down there as well and they all just went off to Los Angeles. It's stupid. You don't you don't like the brown and whatever the heck that you don't like it. Yeah. The brown and yellow just doesn't do it for me.
OK. When I see the Padres, I think about maybe I don't. They look like peaches. They look like peaches and cream.
May not be good. But what are you a fan of? Who are you a fan of?
Well, I'm actually originally from West Virginia, so I grew up closer to Pittsburgh, kind of a Pirates fan, Steelers fan. Oh, boy. How you feel about all this stupid nonsense about them moving schemes and like five in that kind of stupid even think about. Yeah, yeah, totally. Yeah, right. I mean, yeah, we got the best pitcher in baseball, in my opinion, and they're just they're throwing it away.
Yeah, we're so cheap. Let's let's think about trading him years before we need to. Why not? Why not?
The Pittsburgh Pirates way. Hey, Joe, thank you for calling from Virginia. Call me anytime. OK, thank you. Appreciate it. No doubt.
Shout outs to Joe for calling from Virginia. Wow. Nico, did you know the Padres? I could not think of it.
I missed it, too. That's it. Because I think I think about the Padres and I still may not be on the air sometimes going San Diego Chargers.
It's like that's that's where they belong, man. Right. Yeah. You don't you don't think of it because for so long, I mean, my entire life until a couple of years ago was always the San Diego Chargers. Yeah.
Man, I still think the Raiders in L.A., what am I doing? Just anyway. Eight, eight, eight, seven, ten for ISN. That's eight, eight, eight, seven, ten for ISN. Mark is calling not from Virginia. He's calling from Nova Scotia.
You're on the general sport ratio. Mark, what's up? Hey, there. Thanks for taking my call. Yeah, that's that Padres thing. I was ready to give up. And then I'm like, hold on a second. Yeah, I I get corrected or correct myself.
I'd say like at least 40 times a year. I'm like, yeah, San Diego. Oh, OK. Well, that's OK. Oh, 100 100 percent. And A's A's big up long and also that's a whole other. I digress. So, yeah, I just want to hear. Well, I just wanted to talk about the finals, you know, my Oilers, OK, are there in a rematch. And I'm feeling well, I'm always feeling nervous.
I've been a fan since the 87 88 season and we were spoiled for a while. And I agree with you with I'm sorry, I forget his name. I that your producer there, man, like games. Yeah, Nico. Yeah, man. Game seven. No, like I've been through that twice now. OK, I've been through them losing twice. I can't take it anymore. I can't take another game seven loss.
So I agree. What the heck are you going to do between now and Wednesday? I don't know. I get nervous. Well, I try to watch them try to watch some baseball.
But my Blue Jays are are, you know, mediocre as always. But yeah, you know what, though, when I found out, you know, I knew there was going to be a bit of a gap. And when they said Wednesday, I kind of took a deep breath because I'm like, OK, you know, it's a bit much like, you know, it gives you a little time to unwind, you know, relax.
I'm not kind of nervous. The players from the players perspective. And I like this in all of the sports. Whoever comes out of the East is obviously going to have in basketball is going to have less rest than the Oklahoma City Thunder.
But I think this is good. Let the teams nurse and get together, patch up whatever injury problems that they have. And then start the series the best way possible. It sucks in all sports, really. Like once you get into the playoffs, it's just a battle of attrition anyway.
Who's who's healthy and who's hurt? Definitely. When you get to the finals, you want to see it, you know? Yeah. Look at Cleveland and Celtics. Right. But that's those are good examples from this year.
But I just want. Yeah. So speaking of basketball, like I know a colored mentioned earlier about, you know, maybe the lowest ratings. Yeah. I mean, possibly if it's an Indiana Thunder final. But I'll tell you, overall, in Canada, I tell you, like, they're not going to be playing on the same days as the NHL. And there are a lot of people, including myself, that are not Thunder fans.
But let's just say SGA fans. OK. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Right. And so so hopefully you can do like like what Steve Nash never did. Right.
Like I get the double MVP. You know, you know what I'm saying? And last thing, last thing I will say is, you know, he's from a place called Hamilton, which is a little bit outside of Toronto. And, you know, now now that the Leafs fans are are done, they're crying over losing again.
You know, they're going to be even more people watching. So there you go. Go Oilers. Damn, Mark. Thank you for calling from Nova Scotia.
Damn. Have the Toronto Maple Leaf fans not suffered enough? Do they need Mark from Nova Scotia taking a dump on them, too?
I mean, sheesh. My apologies to everybody in Toronto, Jr. loves you. I love I love y'all and I love Toronto. I love Toronto, Canada. I love Toronto. I need to go back soon. 8 8 8 7 10 for ISN.
That's 8 8 8 7 10 for ISN. Yeah, but I don't I don't want to party no more. I'm not partying days over. You go somewhere in Toronto. Hey, listen, if you live in Toronto, hit me on the side. Just tell me tell me where I can go.
That's quietest kept. OK, a little little relax and chill. I don't need to walk around Toronto. I've done that enough in my life. I just need to go and relax.
8 8 8 7 10 for ISN. Listen, listen to some dance hall. Have a good drink. Have a whiskey. Have one of your little beers.
My bad. I call the beer little Nico. Is that insulting? That's insulting, right? I mean, I am not a fan of Toronto, so I'm all I'm all for it. Toronto, Canada do to you the city. I've never been.
I'm sure it's gorgeous. So how the heck you don't like I don't like the sports teams. Oh, I don't think about those stupid sports teams. Blue Jays. They don't care.
Raptors. Who cares? Did you see Scottie Barnes on on rollerblades the other day? Did you see that video? I did not. What is he doing on rollerblades? I don't know. This man is like eight feet tall.
Could you imagine he's just arms and legs on rollerblades is rolling down the street. You better be careful. And then you got who'd I miss the Blue Jays, right? Yeah, the Blue Jays, Raptors and Maple Leafs.
Go to Toronto one day. If you haven't been, you'd like it. It's nice. It's beautiful. It's like it's like clean New York. It's very, very nice.
I do want to see the Hockey Hall of Fame very badly. So at some point I am going to have to do that. Yeah. Make the trip.
Make the trip. Eight eight eight seven seven four ISN. Jason's calling from Baltimore. What's up, Jason?
Oh, J.R. Nico, you guys rock. Thanks so much for taking my call. I just wanted to reach out. I called way back in the beginning of the NFL season.
I'm a Ravens fan, obviously, and I made a couple comments about the Bills fan was like poking a bear's nest or, you know, hitting hitting the and then just waiting on hold here. And, you know, the Canadians are crying about their hockey. And I'm like, that's just you can just lump them all into the same crybaby bucket for all I care.
And, you know, ship them off to a boat with with my boy, Stefan Diggs, and some of his pink yap yap to party it up. What's your question? Yeah. So I call it just for that. I just want to start. You said you're on.
You say you're on for three hours. So hopefully I can just remind my bills fans as they're probably sitting at their altar of Josh Allen right now, getting getting ready to break bread. Remind them that that they're still our little redheaded stepchildren.
And it will always be that way. Even if you're having a good night and a blessing, even though Mark Andrews dropped the ball. Oh, hey, listen. And hey, and I will say Mark Andrews, Isaiah likely like I'm not even calling about that because I don't I don't I don't want to do that.
I don't build altars to them. That's all I'm saying. All right. Well, thank you, Jason. Thank you, bro. Thanks.
All right. That man called from Baltimore just to insult our listeners in Buffalo. Shout out to everybody in western New York.
I like you. I like that beer. I keep telling you not that the one in Rochester, Genesee Brewery. Man, if I could snap my fingers, I'd be doing my show from that brewery right now. Hey, if you work or know somebody at Genesee Brewery, tell them that J.R. wants to do his show live. OK, I'm going to do it right from that little patio.
Well, you know, I could do it from inside in the store. Shout out to everybody in western New York. Shout out to everybody in Rochester. It's the J.R. Sportbreeze show on the Infinity Sports Network. Eight, eight, eight, seven, ten for ISN. That's eight, eight, eight, seven, ten for ISN. We're going to take a break. We come back. We're going to talk some basketball with Sean Powell. He's going to join us courtesy of NBA.com. Yeah, we're going to talk about Giannis. We're definitely going to get into the Eastern Conference Finals. We'll talk about the West Finals. We'll talk about Cooper Flag.
We got a lot to do. The J.R. Sportbreeze show, the Infinity Sports Network. It's the J.R. Sportbreeze show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. NBA Finals is set almost one and a half of it. We got the Oklahoma City Thunder. They're sitting around waiting on the results of the New York Knicks and the Pacers. The Pacers are trying to push the Knicks out. The Knicks got their backs up against the wall. We're ready for the offseason as well. There's conversations about this might be the wildest offseason ever.
So talk about what we've seen, what we might see the rest of the way. Joining us is someone who covers all things NBA for NBA dot com. It's Sean Powell. Sean, how are you? I'm doing well, doing well. Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to join us. Well, first, we're going to get into the Oklahoma City Thunder. What do you expect to see? This has been like a 12 round boxing match back and forth between the Pacers and the Knicks. What do you expect the rest of this series? Are we getting more basketball besides tomorrow?
You know, that's a great question. I know one thing I would think that both teams should have the same level of urgency. And you might say, well, the urgency is more with the Knicks because obviously they lose or done. But if I'm the Pacers, you know, I don't want to go back to New York. I know they won there twice already in the playoffs.
But, you know, I don't know. I mean, you let the Knicks get some momentum. You know, they blew them out the last game and then they come back and they win in Indiana. You know, they've they've got the wind of their backs.
But anyway, what do I expect? Um, I would hope for the Pacers sake, a bounce back game from Tyrese Halliburton. That's why I'm a little reluctant to, you know, say he's like one of the top four or five point guards or players in the NBA, not point guard, the players in the NBA, because he has a tendency to disappear every now and then. And that's certainly what he did the last game. Look, he's a tremendous player, period. Clutch player, all those sort of things. But you just can't have nights off like that.
And then and then you you're showing an example for your teammates and then they don't play well. So I expect him to come back and play well. You know, chances are, if he does, then it's going to take a big time effort from the Knicks to try to force the seventh game. Well, Sean, you mentioned Tyrese Halliburton. We know before the season ended that NBA Players Association anonymous survey listed him, I think, by about one hundred and fifty players that voted that he was the most overrated player in the game. Do you think maybe that's one of the reasons why some of his peers put him in that category? You know, I can't think for them.
I would. First of all, you know, that term overrated. What does that even mean? I mean, I don't know who's rating, you know, I mean, you know, a lot of times, you know, people will throw that out there.
What's the definition of that word? I don't know. I mean, are you saying that he was MVP six times and he doesn't deserve it? Are you rating him that highly or whatever it is?
I don't know. But anyway, I don't know why they said it or whatever. Maybe because he made the Olympic team but didn't play. Maybe because a couple of years ago he made all NBA and it started this year off very slowly.
That probably had something to do with it. But I always thought of him as being a very good player at the Sacramento Kings. Would they rather have him back? They traded the man is about to pay for the demand. It's a bonus for him and suppose is a good player. Don't make and he's an NBA player, too. But Sacramento sitting at home in the Indiana pages, a one way one went away from the NBA. And without a doubt, Sean Powell is joining us. Covers all things basketball for NBA dot com. When you think about the team that's that's waiting, that's representing the Western Conference, that's the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Nothing overrated about J. Yogis Alexander. He picks up an MVP award. He wins a finals Western finals MVP award. He might be the NBA finals MVP.
What do you think about the progression of his game and just how this team has progressed as well with all this young talent? Well, you wonder if the Los Angeles Clippers had any idea that he would be this good and that they would have told Kawhi Leonard that Kawhi Leonard was about four or five years ago. Kawhi Leonard said he wanted Paul George. That would be the condition of him playing for the Clippers. Kawhi Leonard was a free agent then.
What do you think? If the Clippers could look into their crystal ball and see whatever became a K'Shea Gills Alexander, they would have told Kawhi Leonard, no, go sign with the Lakers. Go sign with anybody else. We're not trading Shae.
So, but nobody solved this. You know, he goes somewhere. They set the table for him. He has like, you know, three, four years to grow into the player he is today. Uh, what a force. Uh, I think he's one of the most, probably the most creative score in the NBA today. Uh, he's now look at the year he's, he's having number one scoring champion, MVP, uh, conference finals, MVP, uh, all NBA first team starter on the all star team. Uh, and he has his team in the NBA finals and if he collects two more trophies, that's a finals MVP and the NBA trophy. You have to put that year, that season up with some of the greatest seasons ever. And I'm only saying that not because maybe some other players in the past had better numbers here or there or whatever, but everything that he has been able to accomplish this season, that is hard, very hard to duplicate. I mean, you're the leader of a team that wins 68 games, MVP, conference, MVP, scoring leader, first team, all NBA starter on the all star team and finals MVP and champion.
That's tough to beat. Yeah. Sean Powell is joining us from nba.com.
I want to ask you and get your thoughts on this. You talked about consistency with guys like Halliburton and we just saw another great player in Anthony Edwards, albeit 23 years old. Uh, just the consistency, we see the glimpses, we see the burst. Why do you think we don't, and they're young players, but why do you think that it seems like at times it's all or nothing with this younger generation?
I don't remember feeling this way decades ago, to be honest. Well, one thing is that social media, you know, you have a lot of people saying that this guy's a great, we put that term around great so much, you know, this guy's the greatest, this guy's the best, this guy's top 10, disguise this, disguise that fine. It's almost though a players. I think it's more, um, the basketball world or observer of whatever appointing players before they're due. You know, Anthony Edwards is a tremendous player, but he's 23 years old.
Okay. Um, I think he's just really learning how to be a superstar. I don't necessarily, I get it again, you know, what's the definition of a superstar?
I would think a guy who can lead his team to a championship. He hasn't done that yet. I think he's on his way, but he hasn't done it yet. And sometimes when players don't fulfill the expectations of people on social media or observers or whatever, they're seen as a failure.
He's not a failure. Maybe you had overinflated expectations of him to begin with, but I think the pace that he is on is tremendous for someone his age. The other thing I like about Anthony Edwards is this, he sees himself as being one of the best players in the game. And he said that when he joined a team USA, he said, you know what, fourth, uh, at the end of the game, if it's close, I want the ball. Now imagine saying that on the team with Kevin Durant, the all time score international basketball for the U S Stephen Curry, you know, don't have to say anything about him anymore.
Well, LeBron James Ditto, imagine someone at 23 years old kind of saying, I want the ball. And I love that about him. I love that about him, but there are steps to this process, you know, and I think he'll get there. He's not at the top rung yet, but I think, uh, he's a couple of steps away. Sean Powell.
Here with us on the Jr sport ratio, coast to coast. There's a big time prospect about to enter into the NBA in a few weeks. We know his name is Cooper flag. You'll be drafted by all teams of Dallas Mavericks.
What have you heard and what have you seen from this man that impresses you? Well, first of all, I have to come clean. Uh, I don't really watch that much college basketball. And the reason why I say that is because I've got enough basketball on my plate.
Uh, if I watch, if I springer in college basketball and any, any NBA, I'm going to have to hear it from the people in my household. So, uh, you know, I have to pump the brakes a little bit. Of course I know who he is. I mean, and I was at the, uh, the team USA scrimmages when he more than held his own against, uh, the other members of team USA. Uh, and a guy is just, you know, he's barely 18, 19, whatever.
He's a kid. Uh, so for him to be able to play at that level, not only against, uh, the members of team USA, but to have the year he had at Duke, uh, it just goes to show, uh, that he has tremendous upside, but just the same with Anthony Edwards, I'm not going to put him in the hall of fame just yet. You know, he's got to come in and prove himself.
It's okay. People, people can, uh, players can come in and prove themselves before you put them in the hall of fame. And I think he's going to have to do that. Uh, I, I think he probably will, but I'm going to wait. I don't know how good he's going to be.
I don't, if I had a crystal ball, I'd be in Las Vegas right now at the craps table. So let's just see this guy come in. It's going to be a little bit of pressure on him or urgency on him because he's usually when the, when the team gets the number one pick, it's a rebuilding team. Now they're the bottom of the barrel, you know, it's going to take the team some time. They're going to need some more, but he is going to a team that's prepared to win a championship. And I say that even, even though the Dallas Mavericks traded Luca Doncic, uh, you know, they've got Anthony Davis, they've got a big front line, Kyrie, Kyrie Irving, you would think is going to come back this season later, uh, later next season, I guess I should say, and be healthy enough. And you know, someone like, you know, now this guy's coming in, he's going to get major minutes. He's going to get touches, you know, he's going to play an important game. It's all those little things that you usually typically don't see from number one picks.
Take Victor Wambayama. He goes to the Spurs as a rookie and they win, you know, what, 22, 23, you know, they don't even win that many games. So, but this guy's coming in Cooper flag to a team that's ready to win now. So we'll see how, how he can handle that. A lot of rookies coming in, they can't handle that kind of burden. Uh, so it'd be very interesting to see how Jason coach, Jason Kidd, uh, you know, gets how this playing time, how he fits in with Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving, how for the first time of his life, he's not going to be the first option.
There'll be the second option, maybe the third option. How does he deal with that? And also being put into the playoff fire, assuming the Mavericks are in the playoffs next year with the expectations, how does he handle that?
Sean, last question for you. This is not about an incoming rookie. This is about a couple of all of famous and legends, top 75 players. We expect this off season to be crazy. What are you, what are you looking forward to the most? We got Giannis. We don't know if he's leaving Milwaukee. We got Durant, who's probably almost a short fire thing to leave. Uh, we, who knows what happens with Boston, what moves they may or may not make. What intrigues you about the off season? Well, you named three very important possibilities right there to the Boston Celtics, assuming that Jason Tatum's not going to return next year that they use next year as a bridge year and kind of rearrange the furniture.
We'll see. The second thing you said with Kevin Durant, Kevin, the Kevin Durant thing. That's not a big deal.
That's not big on my radar. He's 37 years old, right? This is not the KD who left OKC to go to the Golden State Warriors. This is the KD who probably has two more years at, you know, arguably, you know, max level. And then, you know, I mean, LeBron James accepted, but usually players start to tail off when they approach, uh, 40, you can see with Chris Paul and a number of other players.
Right. So I don't think he is that big a deal now. Giannis, that's a big deal because I don't see any way if he stays in Milwaukee for him to be on the champion track.
So we'll see what he feels, what the Milwaukee Bucks feel and whether or not they can get the mother lode for him in a trade. Yeah, this is going to be an interesting off season. Well, Sean, thank you so much for the time. Please tell everybody how they can keep up with you and all of your work on NBA dot com. Absolutely. Appreciate it.
All right. Well, thank you, Sean. We'll catch you on down the line.

The Mavericks talked about it all. At the top of the hour, I'm going to tell you about Zion Williamson. It is not good for Zion. You want to talk about another superstar out of Duke?

Every day on the way home from work, I always got you tuned in.
Thank you so much. What's going on? What's on your mind? Well, I heard your MLB trivia question a moment ago, and I knew it was the Padres right off the bat. But after hearing your callers talk about them having the Chargers, Chargers this and Chargers that, I thought, you know what? There's another major league team that used to have an NFL team one, not just one, but had an NFL team taken away from him twice. And one of them was a Super Bowl winner. That being the St. Louis Rams.
So I'm referring to the St. Louis Cardinals. Oh, yeah, there's nothing else that you're right. Damn. Wow.
Another one. Damn. Yes, sir. You think being a race fan, I don't remember the Cardinals? Yeah. Wow. You're right about that. There's the same.
Yeah, the cards are the only. Well, you know what? Haven't they talked? Didn't they build an arena on St. Louis? They wanted to bring an NBA team there. You know, I'm not sure about that.
I'm not a Texas fan, but I am a sports fan and I knew they didn't have it. Yeah, that might be. That might be. Well, Kansas City already has a basketball arena.
I think T-Mobile Center or something downtown. Wow. You're right. St. Louis only. Well, they got the blues.
That's not true. They got the blues. No, no. I asked your guy on the phone. I was like, you were talking basketball and football, right? He goes, yeah.
I said St. Louis Cardinals. He goes, you're correct. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no. We were thinking about, yeah, they're not the only.
Nico, am I confused? It's possible. Am I? No, yeah, there is the St. Louis Blues in hockey. I just didn't know if we were because he asked when he called me about there was no other basketball and football team. So I was like, yeah, you're right. Technically.
Yeah, I was thinking about all professional teams. Like, I mean, I thought I did something today. Yeah, no, you did.
You did. Did you have a beer yet? You had a beer?
No, not yet. Well, have a beer. That'll be the best thing you do all day.
Okay. You know, and I got to tell you, JR, you got a real popular name here in Texas. As long as I, as long as I don't get shot in Dallas, I think I'm good.
But your, your, your coworker there, he doesn't have a real popular name and he may get shot in Dallas. Why? Why do you want to, why do you want to hurt Nico? He's a lovely guy. What do you want to do to him for?
What do you do? Don't we have a Nico that's not very popular in Dallas right now? Well, this Nico's name is with a K, not a C. Okay. Nico, you okay over there? You all right in New York? You all right? Yeah, this isn't the first time I've heard this.
Cause we got Nico Harrison getting a lot of hate and then Nico, Ian Maliava in Tennessee getting a lot of hate. So I'm used to this by now. Oh my goodness. Yeah. Your, your, your name is on the hate train. That's not good.
Nico. It's time to, time to ditch that one and go by the other name. Okay. I appreciate you guys taking my call. Sure. Jason, thank you for calling from Texas. Appreciate you. Wow. Nico. I had no idea what he was. So I was like, why they don't like you?
What did you do? He ain't do nothing to nobody. Yeah. I was, I wasn't like nervous at first. I was like, Oh, did I do something wrong here? He's like, don't get shot in Dallas. I'm like, excuse me. I don't know. Maybe you have to go down to Texas and defend a Nico's honor.
He ain't bothering nobody. Damn. Yeah. I was thinking about overall pros.
Like I was thinking about, what is it? The big three to big four NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB. Cause if you, if you start adding those other sports, like I'm pretty sure there's an XFL team from no, no, no, no, no. We can't go down that rabbit hole. Hell no.
Hell no. We have no disrespect to anybody else. I was not referring to no XFL. I'm a shout outs to the Birmingham Barons right down the road for me on 20. Uh, no WNBA teams. My apologies to the golden state Valkyries brand new to the league. Um, no disrespect to the MLS teams.
Okay. The Columbus crew. They, I like Columbus, Ohio.
I've been the Buckeyes. Um, shout out to Columbus. Uh, no disrespect to the MLS. That's it. Right. And then there's the, the, isn't it a women's soccer league too? And uh, yeah, there's also a women's hockey league too now. So yeah. Yeah. No disrespect to the rest of them, but I was strictly referring to the ones that, uh, that make billions of dollars.
Okay. Billions with a B NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL billions, billions with a B. And so as it stands, it's still, I guess only San Diego Padres.
Padres is the only major game in town. I mean, you think about new Orleans, they're missing a baseball team. They could be missing Zion Williamson, but we'll, we'll talk about that at the top of the hour. Hey, and speaking of people who might be missing, this story was in the news today and I'm like, what a shock, not a surprise here in Atlanta, Georgia.
And I don't know, maybe everybody down in Florida, all my folks in Gainesville, maybe they have a better understanding. Kyle Pitts is a physical freak. You look at this guy on the, on the football field and you go, this man is a tight end. Looks like a basketball player. He looks like more of a basketball player than Tony Gonzalez, who was a basketball player. Not only Tony Gonzalez, one of the greatest tight ends of all time, but when Kyle Pitts got drafted out of Florida, I'm like this man, he should be great. Six, six, two 50. He ran a four, four 40 yard dash as a tight end.
Okay. He came into the league in his rookie season in 2021, 1000 yards receiving only had one touchdown. And you're like, man, once they get him a decent quarterback, there's nowhere to go, but up nowhere, but he is just pretty much gone down. He seems disinterested in the games. He'll say that it's pretty much the game plan and what's asked of him. And now he's looking for a contract extension and we got word today that the Falcons might be like, nah, bro, get the hell up on out of here.
It's, it's pretty hilarious. He's been criticized so much for just being a, I don't want to say a bust. He certainly hasn't lived up to what he was selected number four overall.
You select the tight end number four overall. You're hoping that this guy goes into the hall of fame. Ain't in the hall of fame about this guy. Maybe he goes to another team and hauls in, you know, 800 yards receiving and five, six touchdowns. But for the Falcons bust.
Okay. Bust. Here's Kyle Pitts. He was just on Cam Newton's podcast recently. And he was asked about whether or not he gets enough respect. And he's like, if it's coming from the fans who don't play or have never played, don't care. To the comments, to the public.
Yeah. Because obviously, like I said previously, they don't know what's really going on. They don't know what really goes into a play. And obviously, if you're not the guy that's being forced to, or, you know, getting the benefit, even when you are losing everybody else, they get the brunt of it, you know, and it's okay. It comes with the job, but that's all good. You know, I'm excited for what's about to happen this year.
It'll be a total different change. You know, it is what it is, but you, you take it with a grain of salt and you know that that person that's on Twitter with 20 followers talking, you couldn't run across that, but don't do it. You know, so it's like, you, you hear it, you listen, you know, you don't even listen to it.
You see it, you laugh. Cause like, if it's not somebody like him or Shannon, Shay sharp or somebody who played the game, I'm not going to value it. He was talking about, he's looking forward to this upcoming season.
Well, let's be real. This upcoming season may not be in Atlanta, Georgia. He may have to find a home elsewhere. And I think it's time he gets beat up on the radio here because you think about it, a six foot six tight end who could run a four four. He's 250 pounds. He don't want to block anybody. And when he's not getting the ball, he's just, he's slow off the blocks, slow off the line of scrimmage.
Last year, a 47 receptions, 602 yards, four touchdowns. And he's talking about, Hey, they don't throw me the ball. That's not a part of the game plan. Well, maybe if you would bust it more often, they'd get you the ball on purpose instead of just, Hey, where's Drake London? Where's Drake London?
Where Drake London? There should be no reason. He's not one of the best tight ends in the entire NFL. I think it has not as much to do with scheme as he says it does. They drafted to get him the ball. They brought him in to get him the ball, be that big and not play.
If I was six, six, two 50 running a four four, man, I'd be clocking everything. Anyway, he's a bust. Let's talk about another bust.
Bryce Huff. He played for the Eagles last year. Barely. Barely.
Okay. The Eagles decided to give this man $51 million coming up from the New York Jets. He had 10 sacks for the Jets. He's one of the best pass rushers in the entire NFL the season prior. He went to the Eagles and he fell into the abyss. He had two and a half sacks last year in 12 games. They sat his behind down and said, eh, we're just going to bench you. He wasn't a contributor.
They called it scheme. And now it appears that the Eagles are cutting their losses and they're sending him to San Francisco to be reunited with his head coach and with the New York Jets, Rob Salah, who's now their new defensive coordinator and good luck to Bryce Huff. Maybe Rob Salah can find use of him in San Francisco. We know what the Eagles need.
Not him. It's the JR sport re-show here with you coast to coast on the infinity sports network. We're going to take a break. When we come back, speaking of busts, Zion Williamson is on his way. He already bust out of his clothes. Is he going to bust out of the NBA? I'll tell you on the other side, don't move.
