The Oklahoma City Thunder dominate the Minnesota Timberwolves in an elimination game, with Shay Gilgus Alexander leading the Thunder to a potential NBA Finals appearance. Meanwhile, Anthony Edwards struggles with another poor performance, raising questions about his maturity and ability to lead the Timberwolves. The show also reflects on sports history, including the Dodgers and Giants leaving New York City for California in 1957 and Barry Bonds breaking Hank Aaron's home run record in 2006.

Go ahead and ask the smart speaker to play the Infinity Sports Network. We've had a busy show, and I'll tell you about it in a second, and I'll get back to the phone lines. I got to tell you about something going on right now. The Oklahoma City Thunder are wasting no time. None zip, zero zilch against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Thunder lead the Wolves 22 to 7. This is how they're starting off in the first quarter. There's about two and a half minutes to go in the first quarter. This is an elimination game for the Timberwolves. The Timberwolves are on the road. Can they get hot?

Of course they can, but they better get hot soon. Otherwise, this season is going to be over if the Thunder win this game. Well, they're going to the NBA Finals.

Shea Gilgus Alexander, what a shock. Eleven points here in the first quarter already. He cannot be stopped. It's like NBA Jam from back in the day. He's on fire.

Yeah, he's more than on fire. Hey, we got a lot to do as the show continues on. At the end, of course, we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history. We've talked about football and Miles Garrett in Japan instead of in Cleveland at Voluntary Workouts. We talked about Stefan Diggs, the newest member of the New England Patriots. He's not at OTAs.

He's like, I can't do anything anyway with my recovering leg. We're just going to hang out on the beach or boat, not with Mike Vrabel. I mean, if you got a choice, do you hang out with Mike Vrabel and get yelled at? I guess it's too early to be yelled at. Or do you hang out on the yacht?

I think Stefan Diggs made a decent choice. Maybe not with the. Anyway, I'll talk about that in a second.

The things he was doing on the boat may not be the most appropriate. And then we talked about another team that is now facing elimination. That happens to be the New York Knicks. But the start tonight for the Timberwolves looks like they have already made some vacation plans. And then earlier today. Well, damn it, not even earlier. Last hour, I gave you a new top six list.

It's what I do every single Wednesday. Today's top six. We took a look at some of the biggest and best clutch performers and performances that we've seen in the NBA. I decided to pull out six of the greatest players and performances that I've ever seen. Players that I would really trust when the going got tough.

And if you missed the full list and the fancy audio and just go ahead and hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. But I do want you to hear one specific piece of sound from the guy I had at number one on the list. But at number six, I gave you Walt Clyde Frazier. And number five, I gave you Larry Bird. And then before I gave you Steph Curry and number three, Lebron James. And number two, I gave you Magic Johnson and a number one to the shock and surprise of absolutely nobody. I gave you Michael Jordan. And we know about all of my well, a lot of Michael Jordan's big shots. It's the shrug, the shot, the push off or whatever the hell you want to call against Byron Russell.

He was going to knock that shot down anyway. I want you to hear Michael Jordan not tell you about the shots that he made. I want you to hear Michael Jordan tell you about the shots that he missed. I missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games.

26 times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. The story of life.

Right. And that's applicable to life. That's why sports is so awesome. That's why sports is so great. Because it's I've always found sports to be a microcosm of life.

Like you can you can physically use your body, you can physically as well use your mind, but you can mend it together. And there's so many avenues and aspects of it. Teamwork, perseverance. It's a beautiful thing. And what a lot of people don't realize is that failure is definitely a part of life.

It sucks. But you have to utilize each failure and try to utilize them as stepping stones and kind of keep growing and getting higher and elevating. Everybody isn't born with a silver spoon in their mouth and the keys to success right in front of them. And some people got a bust and fall on their ass and keep on growing. That's why I appreciate what Michael Jordan said. Everybody's going to fail.

Even people who think that they never have. And speaking of failure. Oh, man, I'm not going to say this Minnesota Timberwolves season is going to be a failure. The Thunder lead.

Twenty three to seven. Yeah. Not not the start that the Timberwolves wanted. It's still early. Plenty of basketball left.

Nothing indicative or it hasn't been anything indicative that they are going to turn this around based on what we've seen the entire series. If you're asking me, let's just go ahead and hit the fast forward button. And can we get the Minnesota Timberwolves the hell up on out of here? We don't need to be wasting no more time.

We don't need to see another game. Finish them off tonight. Get it over with.

Go on vacation. Let's put the Thunder in the NBA finals. And let's just let's just roll as simple as that. We don't need no extra waste of time.

Minnesota is not a better team than the Thunder. I thought that they would win in six games. Just please finish this series. Do us a favor. Finish the series. Get it done in five. I want you to hear from the head coach of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

His name, Mark Dagnall. He talked about Oklahoma City understanding what's going on right now, but not looking too far ahead. Just finishing this series off and being in the moment. We just try to make a habit of staying very present, and we tried to do that for years now.

You know, so that's not like a playoff skill. That's a that's hopefully in the water, at least in terms of our ideals. You know, like it's hard to stay present.

You know, it's easy to slip into the past or slip into the future. Oh, OK. I guess it's in the water in Oklahoma City. OK. Oklahoma City is one place I've never been. And I guess the only reason.

Well, I mean, not necessarily. It would be for the Thunder. I haven't been. Not on the list.

Certainly not for the water. Eight, eight, eight, seven, ten before ISN. That's eight, eight, eight, seven, ten before ISN. And we got Nate. Nate is calling up from I've been here plenty of times.

Milwaukee. Hey, Nate, you're on the JR sport show. What's up? Hey, JR. Thanks for having me, man. Most certainly.

What's going on with you? I would like to nominate Kobe Bryant. Oh, oh, for my top six list. I was like, what a great player. It was a crazy clutch player.

He was so fearless on the court. He came through with I believe he had six championships. He's got plenty.

But I mean, I got five. What he does is in the playoffs, what he what he does have. He does have the most game winners in NBA history. That's what Kobe has.

Oh, you know what? I knew he was fearless. It was great. And I give him I give Kobe Bryant credit, too, because even in times when his shot wasn't falling, Kobe Bryant, especially in the NBA finals against the Celtics, he had a crap game. But then he he had he went out there and said, OK, I'm having a crap game shooting the ball. I'm a go out here and rebound.

I'm going to pass the rock. And he got the job done, which makes me think about guys. And I hate to be going off on a tangent right now. Nate, earlier in the show, I talked about Anthony Edwards and that last game that he played where he only mustered up 16 points, five or 13 shooting. You know, Anthony Edwards was just like, I didn't struggle.

I I considered I didn't get up enough shots. And it's just like, no, you do whatever it takes to win. And yes, you did struggle because you didn't win.

And so struggle. Yeah, it's just that's that's enough. So I just think the mentality and I'm not putting this all on Anthony Edwards, but I feel like over the years in the NBA, we've had so many players who talk about Kobe Bryant and Mamba mentality, this and Mamba mentality that a man they spraying a pinky and they done for the week. You know, this man had Gary Vitti snap his finger back in and just kept on playing like so he beats all his Achilles and went out to take his free throws like a leader. He was always a winner.

You know, different areas. He brought championships back twice in two different styles of play nearly. He was just a baller. He was.

Now, I will say this, Nate. I'm not always going to say that Kobe Bryant was a leader. And we know he certainly was a hard ass. Well, look, when you come into the league as a 17, 18 year old, there's a lot to be learned. But how he always not always, I will say it's not always. But he led with his examples.

Work ethic was off the charts. He wasn't going to sit out a game with a bum pinky or, you know, his you know, his nose didn't feel right one day or whatever else. Nonsense is I wish we had more players who just and I think if, for instance, I'll put it to you this way. Could you imagine and I get it, Luca Doncic, well, he was able to see and meet Kobe Bryant and now he plays alongside LeBron James. I get it.

I understand. But could you imagine if Kobe was still alive and Luca was a Laker right now? Like, we I don't I don't think we would be having conversations about J.J. Redick, you know, trying to encourage this man about, you know, he needs or we need to be in championship shape. OK, I don't see J.J. Redick coaching the Lakers right now. It's Kobe Bryant still alive either.

Honestly, I thought about that, too. I think Kobe may have had a little bit of influence if he was still alive as to who the coach might be. But there's still LeBron is still here. I'll tell you this. Kobe Bryant wouldn't be afraid to sit in an interview at any point. Tell this guy to his face like, hey, you're fat.

Well, you need to get in the gym. I think I was leading towards leadership like that. Yes. He ran his teammates hard and that's what they needed to win.

He's a champion, a multiple time champion. Yeah, we see it. And thank you, Nate, for calling from Milwaukee. Great call.

I like the show. So thanks for having me. First call or first call. Hey, call me anytime, Nate. You two. Take it easy.

Thank you. Yeah. Like, come on, man. You think about Kobe Bryant and you hear the stories now, like Shaquille O'Neal has said over the years, like I screwed up.

I messed up. And with plenty of reason, the Los Angeles Lakers said, we're going to keep Kobe and you can take a hike. You want all this money. And Kobe Bryant justifiably so told him, like, bro, man, you know, I'm busting my ass. And there have been plenty of stories and plenty of things that are captured on one video about how Kobe rode his teammates and disparage them.

And it's just like, you know, if you ain't tough enough, then you just ain't it. So, yeah, Kobe Bryant, absolutely one of the best clutch performers that we have ever seen in the NBA, one of the best competitors. I wish for all the. Mistakes and Kobe made his mistakes. OK, man was embroiled in that that lawsuit in Colorado, but for all of the basketball related things. I wish I wish some of these NBA players, some of them.

Had half the heart and determination and work ethic that a guy like Kobe did. And maybe we'll see it sooner than later. You know, every now and then somebody different comes along. I am hoping I am hoping and wishing that we could see Victor women Yama at his peak.

I'm hoping for. A seven foot four man who's got three point shots and can move and is fluid. This man is not, you know, Sean Bradley out. He's not Arvita Sabonis like this man can move. And what happens when he puts weight on and what was strength, I should say. What happens when he learns to maybe hold his position a little better when he can operate a little bit better down low. But why does he? The guy can just go over everybody. I've seen this man warm up here in Atlanta, up close and personal.

If there's a guy who's different that I want to see have success, it's Victor women Yama. The guy turns his phone off at night, doesn't want to be bothered. The man actually reads books. He's a bibliophile. He seems he seems connected to who he is. Like he's he's a rare breed. And I'm sure a big part of it is because he's not an American. He has a different perspective on life from growing up in a different place. I'd love to see him have success because how he carries himself. I think is quite admirable. I'd love to see Victor women. Yeah, I might have a long, successful career and somebody else who works hard.

Yeah, it's a set of Kumpa. Yeah, I think he's one of those players that I think about. You know, Kobe Bryant and how determined he was.

He honest doesn't have fear. You know, he has his own skills. I know James Harden doesn't think so.

Everybody can be can't be seven feet tall and dunk. Giannis is very skilled. And one of his skills is he's going balls to the wall. He's not afraid to miss.

He doesn't care what anybody thinks. His motor is ridiculous. He is improved from being a scrawny kid to being just a physical freak and physical presence. We need more of those 8 8 8 7 10 for ISN. That's 8 8 8 7 10 for ISN. Give me more Kobe's and give me more Giannis's. Give me more Wim Benyamas. Give me less John Marantz. Give me less Joel Embiid's. Forget them guys.

8 8 8 7 10 for ISN. Eddie is calling from Florida. Hey Eddie, you're on the JR Sport Reshow.

What's up? Hey JR, thanks for taking my call. I loved your show.

Listen to it almost every night. Listen, I would like to nominate a guy who has the title that you should have as well. Julius Erving, the doctor. That man, not just one of my favorite NBA players, but one of my favorite athletes ever. Back in the mid to late 70s and early 80s, the 76ers were so close but could never get over the hump. They lost to the Lakers twice. In 83, they bring in Moses Malone to complete the puzzle. They went through the playoffs only losing one game. I believe it was to the Milwaukee Bucks.

The doctor was just on his game even though he was just a little bit up there. In game 4, they're already up 3-0 on the Lakers. In game 4 in Los Angeles, the Lakers turn it on.

Even the broadcasters are saying with Magic Johnson, it's showtime. Taking this one, in about a little bit in the fourth quarter, most of the fourth quarter is almost over. Erving took over that game. He took the ball. He didn't pass it. He took it. He took it through the hoop with authority. Talking about just coming through in the clutch saying, we are not going back to Philadelphia.

We are taking this championship right now, right here. He was also one of the fellas. That didn't happen a lot, but they played the selfish a lot. Him and Bird, you know how trash Dr. Bird was. Sometimes as cool-headed and as level-headed as the doctor was, sometimes he got a little tired of that stuff.

We're trying to get right back in Bird's face. It's cool how smooth he was and is. It wasn't just his game.

It was his personality. I've met him a few times, but the first time I met him, I don't remember what year it was. It was at one of the All-Star games in New Orleans in Louisiana. I was in the back, and I've never spoken to God rest his soul to Bill Russell, but I walked by Bill Russell in the back of the arena. I'm like, holy crap. I didn't expect that. I just turned the corner. I was like, oh, there's Bill Russell.

It was cool. I remember when I got back out into the concourse in a little bit of a private, semi-public, ritzy, fancy part of this, Dr. Jay walked by and was going up an escalator. He's always been the most well-dressed. The haircut's so smooth. To go from the afro to now having the silver fox hair, the man went up the escalator.

I'm still on the ground. He looked down at me and just winked. It was just like, oh crap, that was cool, man. He's a smooth dude, no doubt.

Definitely clutches well. Yesterday, actually, this day in sports history, we had talked about the fact that he won the NBA MVP in addition to picking up an ABA MVP. He was the first dude to go out there and do that. Eddie, I want to thank you for calling from Florida. I got to go ahead and hit the break, OK? All right. All right. Good night, bud.

Bye-bye. Thank you so much. It's good to talk about the legends, man. It really is. I need you to thank O'Reilly Auto Parts for all of your car care needs.

It's the JR Sportbreeze show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. We'll take a break, come back and give you an update on what's going on in Oklahoma City between the Thunder and the Wolves. Of course, at the end of the show, we'll talk about a few things that took place this day in sports history. You're locked in. You're listening. It's the JR Sportbreeze show, the Infinity Sports Network.

It is the JR Sportbreeze show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. Take it easy now and offer me beer. You may pass out. Take it easy on that one, OK? Oh, my goodness. OK, can we shut it? Stop the music.

Thank you. Can we shut this team down? Chris, can we get the Timberwolves out of here? Can can we just can we shut this game down or do we can we stop the game at halftime? The Thunder lead right now.

Forty four to twenty. They're about halfway through. The second quarter. Chris, they're not coming back, right?

This is this is done. Well, JR, the Timberwolves have just as many points in the first five minutes of the second quarter as they did in all 12 minutes of the first quarter when they finished with nine. I mean, listen, I get your idea to cut it at halftime. But then you got to remember, will Anthony Edwards get enough shots to where we can say he struggled or didn't? Well, I know he's taken seven shots so far. He is all from three of three from downtown. He is two of seven from the field.

Come on now to date. But Jayden McDaniels now. Jayden McDaniels is zero points. He is all six.

Michael Conley is I thought he was kind of old and washed up now at this point. Now, anyway, he hasn't hit a shot. He's off to what can you expect from Rudy Gobert? Yeah, the answer is a whole lot of nothing. Nas Reed has two off the bench.

They even had to try to put a little bit of a life and injection of any type of sort. Here for the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Thunder lead of forty five to twenty forty six to twenty. Yeah, I don't know. No interest in this one. I'm sorry. I will be paying attention, obviously, but Minnesota is basically given up. And Shea Gilgus Alexander has 12 points and Chet Holmgren has a 13.

We'll keep you up to date on this game as it continues on. Of course, Minnesota Timberwolves are facing elimination in the Oklahoma City Thunder, clearly once again showing that they're the superior team. And I'm sure we'll have a lot of this conversation tomorrow if Minnesota doesn't have some big old comeback here. They'd have to bounce back from more than twenty five down at this point.

The Thunder now doubling up on them almost forty eight to twenty two more than doubling up. There's going to be a big conversation about Anthony Edwards and a lot of it is going to be about maturing, not just in front of a microphone where he's already accumulated hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines for using profanity at press conferences and social media clips. He's an affable guy. People love him. He's a funny guy. People like him. He has a great sense of humor. You can tell genuinely. I only judge by my own interaction and what I see. He's a he's a good dude. OK. What he does in his personal life and what have you. I mean, he gets ripped through the shreds sometimes because of his personal decisions with his significant others or whatever we call him. I don't know. That's his business. But there's going to come a point in time where people go.

I could we get it. You're great. And you're funny. But you got to you got to get the job done on the basketball court. OK. And then also, maybe as you get older, is he finally ever going to relax with some of his language here and there?

But more importantly, people want to see the success on the court. Hey, it's still hard to believe. He is twenty three years old. He's twenty three years old. He's 24 soon. But he got plenty of room to grow. And there's going to come a point like, I don't know, maybe as soon as tonight where Anthony Edwards just goes, well, damn.

Like, am I going to the Western Conference finals every single year? He went last year and he pretty much got the same result that it looks like they're going to have this year. He went up against Luka Doncic and they were there. Damn it.

There was conversations. I don't know if you recall about him being tired last year and being gassed in that Western Conference finals. I know everybody talks about Luka and how fat and out of shape he is. He's the one who went to the finals. And this is a superior team, Oklahoma City. But there's some big expectations for Anthony Edwards and all the comparisons to Michael Jordan. Nobody's going that damn far.

But the similarities and even him addressing it at times. People want to see you get the job done. And at this point, I don't know. Marco, what is Anthony Edwards going to be tired again? I guess, huh? Well, he's got plenty of time to rest up.

That's right. He does. And I know I didn't feel good about the team last year because Carl Anthony Towns, I feel the same way this year. He's a lot of up. He's a lot of down. Sometimes he's giving you a million points and like no time.

And in other times he's just he's like sleepwalking. I didn't I didn't feel good about that last year. I've never felt good about Julius Randall, despite some of his performances, what it boils down to in a lot of cases with these superstars.

It's it's consistency. And Julius Randall has never had it in the postseason or he's been injured and hasn't had it. And Anthony Edwards for the second consecutive year, I guess he ran out of gas again. I think he can do it. But I don't got confidence in Julius Randall. I certainly don't like Rudy Gobert. He has no offensive game.

I know they already switched things up. It's going to be tough for him moving forward after this year. Yeah. Look, Randall is a really good player on a bad team.

I've always kind of looked at it that way. When you have a really good team, he's average at best because he's a walking turnover. And he's so inconsistent that it's just it's hard if he's going to be your one or two or three option because there's just so many flaws. And something that you're going to have in a short series and a seven game series, it's going to get exploited after a while. Regular season, you can get away with a lot of that stuff. There's a lot of things you get away with in eighty two games that you can't in the playoffs. Randall gets exploited.

And that's something that I don't know if that's going to be the route that they go. But for Anthony Edwards, he just needs to take that next step because there's nothing that he can't do. But you said it. I mean, the biggest thing, the biggest key to be a superstar is night in, night out.

No matter what, you need to be that guy. And he doesn't do that. Yeah. I mean, we see the difference. If I'm him, like I'm really dialing in this summer and I get it. Last year, he literally went from losing to Luca, went to the Olympics in Paris, won a gold medal, was a part of that team.

God bless him. He actually played. But then we go into this season. And but this year you got to look back and go, hey, last year I lost to Luca.

This year, Shay Gilgus Alexander outplayed me. And if you're Anthony Edwards, you just can't look at it like, well, he's on a better team. Yeah, he's on a better team, but they're a better team in a lot of cases because of him. He's been consistent. This man is going 30 plus every single night like it's still the regular season. And they look like they're on their way to a championship. And this looks like we may see the by the time we get to the fourth quarter, it may be the who the hell is this part of the game?

Because this is a this is a butt whooping. No, you're right. But I think that's that's kind of what's inside you for Anthony Edwards. Like at some point, do you step back and you go not to hell with this?

No, this is not going to happen anymore. I know he's still young. He's got plenty of time. And it's not like, you know, every superstar came in and by the age of 22, they already knew. You figure it out. But he needs to take this step and he needs to realize that it's got to be a real true commitment where it's got to be nightly. And there can't be two or three games where you completely disappear in the playoffs. It doesn't work like that.

And he has times during the regular season where he disappears. It can't work like that. He needs to be able to it's almost like he needs to take that hit to his ego where, you know, you're good enough, but you're not showing it. Well, the hell with this.

I'm going to show it every night. He needs to get there. However you get there mentally, that's where Anthony Edwards needs to go. Well, he's been he's been praised a lot, justifiably so, given his age. But there comes a point in time where that praise, it can flip very quickly.

And I think he's going to be criticized a lot over these next several months unless he has just some miraculous performance tonight. And I can't even say the rest of the series. This one, this series looks about over. It's the JR Sportbreeze show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network when we come back before we're over. I'm going to share with you a few things that took place this day in sports history. But to get an update on this game between OKC and Minnesota and everything else going on in the world of sports. He just heard his voice. It's time for a newsflash.

It is the JR Sportbreeze show here with you coast to coast on the Infinity Sports Network. How far I've come. Anthony Edwards is going to have to go far, too. This has got well, this has been ugly from the get go.

Sitting here in the studio, I remember looking up and going 22 to seven. This is it's not how you want to start an elimination game. And there is no defense.

There is no resistance. There is no stopping the Oklahoma City Thunder. Then our seconds away from the half. OKC leads 63.

To 32. And halftime. You mean to tell me the Minnesota Timberwolves are going to overcome. A 30 plus point deficit.

So when on the road. I'm going to start looking up some of these names on the back end of the Timberwolves roster because they're going to start getting some minutes here. In a second. We're going to see Joe Ingalls. How about that?

What a great guy. Rob Dillingham will get some run. That'll be nice.

You got to run last year at UConn. Yeah, this is ugly time for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Oh, Anthony, I'm going to be real interested to see how Anthony Edwards responds tonight. Not on the basketball court. God bless him if they come back to be the greatest comeback we ever seen in NBA history. I want to know what Anthony Edwards is going to say after the game.

I'm more interested in that than anything else. Anthony Edwards, nine points, three of 10 shooting. Oh, a five from downtown. Even if he turns around and has a great second half. I mean, this is almost insurmountable. This is ugly. Shay Gilgus Alexander. Eighteen points cannot be stopped. And it's something something to learn here. It's now halftime.

Sixty five to thirty two. The Thunder lead the Timberwolves in an elimination game. Thunder are going to be on their way to the NBA finals. And as you heard from Marco Belletti, the New York Knicks are trying to avoid the same fate tomorrow. At least they'll be at home in Madison Square Garden. They don't know if Karl-Anthony Towns is going to be available, but I'll tell you this.

It will be maybe I think there's going to be a lot of booing if the New York Knicks were going to do this at home. OK, see, one half away from going back to the NBA finals for the first time since 2012. Yeah, 2012. Damn. Wow. Thirteen years ago.

Wow. Time flies. Durant was out there. Harden was still there. Westbrook was there. And then they ran up against the Miami Heat.

LeBron, Wade and Bosch. But you know what? Speaking of going back in time, it is the end of the show, which means that it's time for us to go back in time to a few things that took place this day in sports history. Back in the days when I was young, I'm not a kid anymore, but some days I didn't wish I was a kid again. It's time for this day in sports history. You see, back in those days we had radio and you couldn't see anything.

And it was primitive and lousy and we liked it. On the J.R. Sport Brief Show. I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass.

It is the J.R. Sport Brief Show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. Today is May 28th, 2025.

It has been May 28th all day long. But on this instance, we're going to go back to May 28th, 1957, because on this day, the National League approved both the Dodgers and the Giants, leaving New York City and going to California. I want you to take a listen to this courtesy of Major League Baseball breaking down the move from east to west. Back in New York in the mid-1950s, Mayor Robert F. Wagner and city officials paid lip service to keeping the Dodgers and Giants from leaving town. But they didn't put up much of a fight when two of the most storied teams in baseball talked about moving to the West Coast. I must say, one of the dumb moves of New York was to not only lose one baseball team, but to lose two baseball teams.

And ultimately, what did they get in return a couple of years later? The Mets. Yeah, let's combine orange are the Giants and the blue are the Dodgers. And here you have the Mets. Yeah, not not all that exciting. And in New York City is a well, it's a big city.

So, of course, there's a lot of shenanigans going on even to this day. Hey, May 28th, 2003, Patrick Waugh. He said, I'm done. This man retired at 37 years old. There was no more butterfly. None of that. No more titles.

He finished with four Stanley Cup championships, Colorado and Montreal. I want you to take a listen to Patrick Waugh say, I'm done. This is from his retirement ceremony. This. First time we arrive in Denver. All nervous.

Facing the unknown language problems. And especially nervousness about not producing at the level expected of me. But you. The fans and my friends. I made sure that our eight years in Denver will never be forgotten. Yeah, eight years and two more championships. And speaking of championships, the Florida Panthers right now, this minute, this second. They lead the Hurricanes three to two. Panthers are trying to advance back again.

To the Stanley Cup finals. Damn. Anyway. Hey, we're talking about history. May 28th, 2006. Oh, this is some.

It's some interesting history. This guy again. 2006, May 28th, Barry Bonds. He hit home run number seven hundred and fifteen. It's a break the tie with Babe Ruth to pass Babe Ruth. Let's listen to this home run courtesy of Major League Baseball. The pitch. The wait is over.

And they're on their feet here at AT&T Park. Yeah, I mean, he got a little bit of assistance, but he did it. Unfortunately, he also passed Hank Aaron, who, despite all of the allegations against Barry Bond and all the mess, Hank Aaron was pretty gracious and throughout the entire process, didn't approve on the possibilities, but was was very polite and kind about it. OK, God bless and God rest the soul of Hank Aaron. We know Barry Bonds ended up with seven hundred sixty two home runs. Seven hundred and sixty two home runs. That's a crap ton. I mean, they need to put Barry Bonds in this this drug Olympics.

I don't know what Barry Bonds would do there. That was in two thousand six. And that, folks, was a few things that took place this day in sports history. I need you to think O'Reilly Auto Parts for all of your car care needs.

As I just told you, I think Anthony Edwards, unfortunately for him, he is seemingly having deja vu. He might be revisiting some of the history from last year, losing to the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference finals. It looks like he and the Minnesota Timberwolves are going to go down tonight as well in the Western finals, this time to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

It is sixty five to thirty two. The Thunder lead the Timberwolves. Anthony Edwards having another horrific game, shooting the ball and the defense for OKC is just phenomenal again. He's been held to nine points, three of 10 shooting or five from downtown. Julius Randall with eight points in the reigning MVP of the NBA, Shay Gilgus Alexander.

Hot like fire. Twenty points, eight or 14 from the field. Not too many free throws so far today. Three of three. Chet Holmgren has 15.

Jaylin Williams has 15. And unless we have the most miraculous turnaround in NBA history at the Oklahoma City Thunder, they're on their way to the NBA finals. Let's see what they do. I know tomorrow we'll see what the Indiana Pacers, if they can handle business and eliminate the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden.
