Happy Wednesday to you. I hope you had a tremendous Wednesday. We got plenty of news to discuss on this Wednesday, May 7th, 2025.
It's been that way all day. Unfortunately, Steph Curry down. Hamstring. George Pickens traded.
No longer a member of the Steelers, he's now on the Dallas Cowboys. You got Tom Brady dropping words on Shadore Sanders. We got Halliburton from last night doing the big Cajones dance. We got more NBA action tonight. We got the Knicks and the Celtics. What if the Celtics are going to miss another 45 threes?
Probably not, right? Hey, are the are the Timberwolves, do they know the playoffs started even though there's no Steph Curry now? We got a lot to get into. Dustin Dobrik is going to join us from the Indianapolis Star. Come through and have a chat about Halliburton and these Pacers who now have a 2-0 series lead against the Cavs. We got more coming as well.
How about this? In about 20 minutes, we're going to have a chat with Joe Hoyt. Covers all things Dallas Cowboys. It looks like CeeDee Lamb has a new partner in George Pickens. And it is Wednesday, which means it's time for a new Top 6 List. Thank you so much, Tyrese Halliburton, for the inspiration. Today's Top 6 List, we're going to take a look at some of the most clutch athletes ever.
That's right, it's a Top 6 List of the most clutch athletes ever. You can always listen to the show on the free Odyssey app, your local Infinity Sports Network affiliate, Sirius XM Channel 375. And if you got a smart speaker, ask the speaker to play the Infinity Sports Network.
I'm in Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you to our producer holding it down today, holding it down tomorrow, Ryan Bottress here. Ryan, how are you, man? I'm doing good.
How are you? I'm a little cold, but I'm fine with a side set. You're cold because of inside the studio or are you cold because of outdoor conditions?
Can it be both? It's cold inside the studio here. Okay, well, there's no heater, I guess, right?
There is. The outdoors part of the studio here is freezing. I don't know who touches the temperature, but it's freezing. You wearing like an undershirt? You got clothes on?
Just a t-shirt. I don't want to take out the sweat jacket yet though. That's too much work. Okay. All right. Well, just don't freeze. All right.
Just be all right. Shout out to Ryan Botcher of freezing in New York. Man, there's so much. What a day.
I woke up today. George Pickens got moved. Later on this afternoon, we find out that Steph Curry and congrats to the Golden State Warriors. They went out there and beat the Minnesota Timberwolves in game one. This is the first time that every single home team in the second round lost the opening game. This is the first time in NBA history. I mean, and we saw yesterday, it was game two for the Pacers, what Tyrese Halliburton did.
But with so much news going on today, let's start off with the news that kicked off the morning. George Pickens, no longer a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. This man has been moved to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a 2026 third round pick. Keep in mind these are the same Pittsburgh Steelers that just got their hands on D.K. Metcalf in exchange for a third round pick.
And so I guess you traded and exchanged one wide receiver for one who is less of a head case. I mean, let's go back to December of last year. Mike Tomlin basically said, you know, with the penalties and all of this nonsense like George Pickens needs to do one thing grow up. You know, you just got to grow up, man. It's emotional game.
And these divisional games are big. He got a target on his back because he's George. He understands that. But he's got to grow up. He's got to grow up in a hurry. Apparently, he didn't grow up fast enough, OK?
This man was also apparently late to the Christmas Day game. Every time you turned your head, George Pickens was was tweeting something out. He was talking to the media. I don't have no confidence. You've got confidence in the offense?
He's like, no. Like, why the hell do you want somebody like that in your locker room? And now he's the Dallas Cowboys problem. Let's take a listen to the news that broke earlier today, courtesy of CBS Sports HQ. Breaking news out of Dallas this morning, the Cowboys are acquiring wide receiver George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers. That's the latest from our NFL insider, Jonathan Jones.
The Steelers will reportedly be receiving draft compensation, including a third rounder and some other pick swaps. Pickens is entering the final year of his rookie deal, posting fifty nine catches for nine hundred yards and three touchdowns this past season. So this is the production making its way over to Big D. This past season averaged about seven point four targets per game, just over four receptions per game.
Those three total TVs. And if you had them on your fantasy team, you probably wanted a little bit more production because he was giving you seven point one and all those PPR leaks. Oh, come on now. George Pickens is good. And thank God he plays.
But do you want the problem? Like George Pickens being in Dallas for Cowboys fans, it might be a dream come true, knowing that Dak Prescott has another wide receiver to throw the rock to outside of Dak Prescott. This is what they need. OK, the Dallas Cowboys need weapons and they got one. And all things considered, you would expect George Pickens to be on his best behavior, because as you just heard, George Pickens is in the final year of his contract. And apparently George Pickens isn't looking for a contract extension today. He wants to play out the seasons smartly.
He wants to prove that he's some big stuff. And let's be real, while he's been in Pittsburgh. He's been there since 2022 coming out of Georgia, where, by the way, here in Georgia, he also had some issues and problems with fighting and suspensions and behavior, ultimately was a national champion. But outside of that, these three years that he's been in the NFL. He's pretty much been wide receiver one. He's garnered most of and a lot of the attention for Pittsburgh Steelers team, which, let's be real, they've been searching for a quarterback since Ben Roethlisberger.
They've been looking for an offense since he left. And so George Pickens in his first year, his rookie year, eight hundred yards receiving four CDs, his second year, eleven hundred yards and five CDs this past season. The Pittsburgh Steelers do what they typically do now. This is why Steelers fans can't stand them or Mike Tomlin, I should say. They finished above five hundred. They went to the postseason and they lost. What else is new in George Pickens in the regular season?
Nine hundred yards to go along with three touchdowns. But he is no longer a headache. I assume D.K. Metcalf is going to show up to work. I assume D.K. Metcalf is not going to have mysterious tweets online.
I assume that D.K. Metcalf is not going to throw the quarterback, whoever it might be, under the bus. We still have to wait and see who that quarterback might be for the Pittsburgh Steelers. If you are if you're Aaron Rodgers, are you looking at the situation and going, well, that's one less guy, you know, that I can throw the ball to.
I'm out. Apparently, there's a rumor floating around that Alan Lazard, he might be going from the New York Jets to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Wow. He actually played ball last year, too. Had about five touchdowns.
What a shock. I don't think this is going to deter Aaron Rodgers from joining the Pittsburgh Steelers. We heard from Aaron Rodgers a few weeks ago on the Pat McAfee Show as he sat on his Aaron Rodgers throne and preached the Aaron Rodgers gospel like he was going to be the next pope. Aaron Rodgers said the thing that is keeping him from accepting an opportunity to play in the NFL anywhere is a personal issue in his inner circle. Aaron Rodgers is too good for friends. He doesn't have friends.
He doesn't have family. He has an inner circle. Of course, everything is always about Aaron Rodgers. I don't think from a football standpoint, Pickens being in Dallas will stop him from going to Pittsburgh, because where the hell else is Aaron Rodgers going to be? Is Aaron Rodgers going to finish his career? And I don't know, maybe maybe Aaron Rodgers will shock me. I don't think he wants to end his career. I don't think he wants the last image of his career to be with the New York Jets, 28 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and everybody, including him, being fired. I think Aaron Rodgers will still join the Pittsburgh Steelers. And I think for the Dallas Cowboys, I think this is kind of status quo for both of these teams. George Pickens will now, he'll have a great season looking for a contract.
C.D. Lamb is going to get most of the attention. And then George Pickens, he's going to look to get paid. And Jerry Jones is going to play that little dance that he likes to do with everybody over contract. Jerry Jones is going to make you sweat. He's going to make you stand around. He's going to make you wait.
You can wait until the last minute until the price goes up. Dallas Cowboys will be the same team as they always are. I don't know, maybe Dak will get hurt.
Maybe you'll stay healthy. They'll be in that eight to 10 win range. And go to the postseason, maybe. If they don't, they'll barely make it or barely make it in.
And if they do make it in, they'll probably be eliminated in the first round. And for the Pittsburgh Steelers, I know that their fans are pretty like, well, we had one good wide receiver. We've traded him for another more reliable wide receiver, but now we still need another wide receiver. Business as usual for the Pittsburgh Steelers. And I think ultimately business as usual for the Dallas Cowboys. Pittsburgh Steelers are saving themselves a headache. And George Pickens, oh, he going to make some money in Dallas.
He's probably also going to drive quite a few people crazy. We'll talk more about this situation. We'll talk about this from a Dallas Cowboys perspective in about 10 minutes with Joe Hoyt from DLLS Cowboys.
Covers all things Dallas Cowboys, speaking of being driven crazy. Everybody in Golden State is feeling kind of nutty right now. Things were rolling last night for the Golden State Warriors. We got this news this afternoon.
Pickens, the news came early in the morning. This news about Steph Curry came later in the afternoon, earlier in the afternoon, and he's gone. He's going to be gone for at least a week. This man, Steph Curry, has suffered a grade one hamstring strain. He is going to be gone for at least a week. We just had game one.
The earliest that he might come back is game four on Monday. And despite him not being out there, the Golden State Warriors still won the game. He had to leave in the second quarter. He had 13 points in 13 minutes. Steph Curry was hot, but then Buddy Heald picked it up 24 points and Jimmy Butler picked it up with 20 points. Even Draymond, who can wake up one day and say, hey, I got six points for you.
Even he had 18. But more importantly, everybody was worried about Steph Curry and his head coach, Steve Kerr, said, oh, he's not feeling all that good in the back right now. Day to day, he'll get an MRI tomorrow. Did you talk to him? Just what was it? I talked to him at halftime. Just, you know, he's obviously crushed. But, you know, the guys picked him up and played a great game. And obviously we're all, you know, concerned about Steph.
But it's part of the game. You just, guys get hurt and you move on. Our guys did a great job of moving on and getting a great win, you know, 48 hours after a game seven road win. It's an amazing group of guys. These guys are, they're, they compete and they're together. We've been the best defense in the league since the Jimmy trade. And that's what's keeping us afloat right now. Of course, all of the odds makers have pretty much told everybody, well, not the odds makers, told everybody.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are now favorite to win this series. Hamstring strains? Hey, Ron, you ever, you ever pulled a hamstring? Thank goodness, no, I haven't. Good, good, good.
You, you don't want to, you don't want to. I'm not running up and down a basketball court. I've, I've slightly tweaked my hamstring.
Not enough for me to go to the doctor and be diagnosed and MRIs. Well, I'm not Steph Curry, but that doesn't just go away. Your, your, your hamstrings, your quads, these are some of the biggest muscles in your entire body. And when you're running around like Steph Curry, end to end, around, around, around, through screen, around screen, people are setting screens, you're jumping.
Man, that's, that's not fun. And also Steph Curry is 37 years old. I give all the credit in the world last night to Buddy Heald who stepped up and Jimmy Butler. Damn it.
This is what they brought you in there for. If the Golden State Warriors can still win this series, I will tip my cap to whoever the hell is stepping up. Pajemski, Jimmy Butler. Well, not even Jimmy. People expect him to step up. Buddy Heald, one game he's here and one game he's just, he's out to lunch. We may not see Steph Curry at all.
Okay. They're talking about minimum a week. We may not see him at all the rest of the playoffs and that'd be a, a massive, massive disappointment. All the best to Steph Curry and his recovery. Good for them. They picked up game one and between them and the Cleveland Cavaliers who are dealing with a lot of injuries last night, no Mobley, no Hunter, no Garland. They blew a big game. Like who's more in trouble? Is it the Warriors?
Is it the Cavs? We'll, we'll get into that later on in the show. We have so much to get into.
Damn it. We have more basketball. We got the Knicks and the Boston Celtics back at it in about 45 minutes to an hour. We got Denver. They're trying to go up 2-0 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Can they do it? It's Wednesday. I'm going to share with you a new top six list. We're going to take a look at the top six clutch athletes ever. When the going gets tough, who do you want out on the field of play?
Tom Brady had some words for Chador Sanders. We're going to go to Indianapolis and talk about what's going on with these, these Pacers and Halliburton, Mr. Overrated. Man, but in a few minutes, we're going to take a break.
And when we come back, we're going to talk about them Cowboys because they got another wide receiver in George Pickens from the Steelers. We'll have a chat with Joe Hoyt. We got a lot to do here on the infinity sports network. You are locked in. You are tuned in to the JR sport re-show.
Don't move. You're listening to the JR sport brief. It is the JR sport re-show here with you on the infinity sports network. We woke up this morning and George Pickens, he was moved from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Dallas Cowboys. The Dallas Cowboys sure love their stars.
We know that Pickens is entering into the final year of his contract. He wore out his welcome even though he was drafted in 2022 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. How does he fit in with the Cowboys and Lamb and Prescott and the offensive line and just everybody joining us right now to talk about them Cowboys is Joe Hoyt from DLLS Cowboys. Joe, how are you?
I'm doing well, JR. Thanks for having me. Absolutely.
Thank you for taking the time to join us. When you heard earlier today that George Pickens was being moved to the Dallas Cowboys for a third rounder, what was your initial reaction? Yeah, I think it was an interesting case because simultaneously I was surprised but not surprised. One thing we knew about George Pickens in relation to the Cowboys is that they had talked. We had known that the Cowboys and the Steelers had talked about George Pickens. It was one of the things where we kind of believed that the Steelers were trying to talk to a lot of people to gauge the market and the Cowboys kind of famously, you know, they don't really pick up any phone calls.
People call them. So we were kind of wondering, hmm, you know, I wonder if that's a fit. And frankly, if you kind of connect the dots, it really didn't seem like a fit initially. You know, Brian Schottenheimer, one thing has been adamant about his love for the game and culture for the Cowboys going into his first season. If you look at all their moves, they kind of represent that, you know, Tyler Booker is with a two-time captain, Alabama, you know, a guy looked at as an alpha and a great locker room guy. Same with Donovan Ezra.
He was the own rebel. You go down the list and there's just a lot of good culture, positive vibes, but there was kind of one pressing need. I think that after the draft that they really needed was a wide receiver too. Um, and one of the things about the Cowboys was, you know, sources have indicated they were going to draft Tetero McMillan at 12 overall if he was there. Right. But they wanted to stick to their board.
He did not fall there. Tyler Booker was there. And ultimately they never drafted a guy. And I think that the need ultimately forced the Cowboys to do something that they don't normally do in terms of trade stuff. Um, you know, and, and paying external free agents is go over the top. And they were able to give a day two pick and a pick swap in 2027 to get Pickens.
And, um, you know, I think that that's, that's what ultimately helped them a lot. And also the fact that he's willing to play out a deal rather than have to sign a big extension, you know, the Cowboys kind of let deadlines aside things, and they're going to let the headlines decide things to George Pickens who on the field is a great fit, you know, and off the field, I think it's an interesting case study for what they might do to the culture Brian Schottenheimer is trying to create. And Joel Hoyt is here with us on the JR sport reshow covers the Dallas Cowboys. You mentioned Brian Schottenheimer first year head coach now with the Dallas Cowboys, his bread and butter for more than a decade now has been offense. How do you envision this offense running with two new running backs like Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders, and now you've got Pickens opposite CD land.
Hopefully you have a healthy deck. What do you envision with Schottenheimer? Yeah, I think Schottenheimer has a lot of tools to play with, frankly. Um, you know, I think let's start with the Pickens acquisition. Like I said, McMillan was a guy they targeted and a big reason they targeted McMillan is because he was that perfect kind of compliment, you know, Robin to CD lambs Batman.
Right. And I think specifically he had great contested catch ability. That's something they were looking out of her in a big bodied X receiver. They didn't get McMillan, but they got an incredible contested catch guy on the field too.
When George Pickens six with three, he, I believe was their plan B to set her up. McMillan's plan a, and I think that that will open up things for CD lamb. And if you kind of look back two years ago, the Cowboys were at their best when Dak Prescott was an MVP candidate targeting CD lamb early and often. And I think that's one thing with Pickens that's going to be kind of an interesting development this year is, Hey, this is a guy who is willing to play out his contract, but also in the efforts to get paid for a second contract, will he be okay?
Kind of being more of the contested cash guy. Well, CD lamb is the highly targeted alpha in the wide receiver room. I think that's something to watch, but in terms of what they've added a running back to, you know, I think after last season, they realized, Hey, we kind of had a running game problem.
Right. And especially it started early when they tried to do a running back by committee with Ezekiel Elliott, being the CEO of that committee. And, uh, that thing fell apart pretty quickly, allowing Rico Daddle to actually have some success there, but they kind of point to the offensive line as a problem there. They believe that they've addressed the offensive line by drafting Tyler Booker, who they think is going to be kind of a plug and play into the impact guy for them. They're hoping for a step up from Tyler guidance and they believe Tyler Smith and Cooper Beebe are going to continue excelling in that interior as well. So I think for them in terms of the running game, which is kind of Brian Schadheimer's, you know, bread and butter, if you kind of look at his career, I think they believe they have the offensive line to allow pretty much anyone back there to actually have success. Javante Williams and Miles Sanders. I believe that those were kind of prerequisite, you know, Hey, we need to get someone to run the ball. I think Jayden blue is someone to watch in that backfield, someone who's pretty electric, someone who can catch the ball out of the backfield.
I wouldn't be surprised if he takes a lot of snaps through the Dallas Cowboys out of their backfield this season. Oh, Joe, you talk about the, the offensive line and drafting Tyler Booker also getting a Jayden blue. Are you comfortable with what their offense line offensive line looks like right now with no Zach Martin and inside Smith? I think if you look at the trio on the interior led by Tyler Smith, I think that that has the potential to be one of the best guard center guard combinations in the NFL. Outside of that, there is some nerve wracking stuff, especially in terms of going up in pass protection parents feel like has he's been okay, you know, after they paid him, uh, in terms of past blocking has had some deficiencies, run blocking, he's been pretty solid. Tyler guiding is a huge, huge question for them. And I think if the Dallas Cowboys want to have success this season, yes, Dak Prescott being healthy is a huge, huge factor. And I think that's been shown as when Dak Prescott's healthy, they'll be pretty good.
But Tyler Guyton, I think is the biggest X factor on the scene this year. I mean, when you look at left tackle, obviously the importance of that position, you know, that is something that you need to at least have serviceable play. And frankly, Tyler Guyton in his rookie season struggled mightily.
Um, it wasn't, it wasn't ultimately serviceable and they have to defer to a veteran like Chuma Doga. Once he got healthy to come back in and kind of be the guy at left tackle, the Cowboys can't afford for a veteran journeyman to be, you know, the, the, the replacement to their former first round pick. I think they need Tyler Guyton to step up and show kind of the raw potential that, you know, warranted to having a first round pick. And I think that that is not a guarantee, but it's something that could happen this off season.
Um, you know, I think a lot of people are kind of, you know, um, not as optimistic about Tyler Guyton, uh, as some people, you know, kind of hope that he can be, but if he can be serviceable as a left tackle, that they could have some success. Joe Hoyt is joining us covers the Cowboys for D L L S Cowboys. You talk about Dak Prescott.
Well, we heard, we talked about Steph Curry and his hamstring before you joined us. What's the latest with Dak. He's not going on vacation with a boot. He's not walking around in a body cast. Is he?
No, no. Dak is, uh, Dak's been progressing well. Um, I mean, Dak, you know, having your hamstring kind of tear off the bone is kind of a scary thing.
Right. Uh, had some surgery, um, and you know, he's looking good. Uh, we've, we've talked to him a couple of times this off season. One of the big impressions is frankly, he looks a little bit leaner of top, uh, you know, in terms of his, you know, body composition, but you know, he's definitely been working out a lot with his legs.
And I think that's one thing he's trying to emphasize is, Hey, you know, I can't, I can't decide the moment. I want to be mobile in a season that my hamstring gets hurt. Like it did last year. Cause that was one of the things that kind of funny, you know, he was, he was not very mobile last year. And then, you know, he kind of talked about it and said, you know what, against Atlanta, I'm really going to, I'm going to try to emphasize that. And he did, if you look at what he did against the Falcons, he was running actually pretty well against them so much so that the hamstring kind of went from inactive to active too quick and tore off the bone. I think Jack Prescott understands that as he heads into the early part of his thirties, running still needs to be a huge component of his game. His mobility has to be an asset in order for him to be able to create plays and push the ball down field, especially now with a guy like George Pickens up at their disposal.
So I think one thing Jack Prescott really want to emphasize this summer is kind of rehabilitating that, that the lower half and ensuring that a torn hamstring is not something that becomes a constant problem for him heading into, you know, the next part of his career. Well, we know Dak, you don't have to worry about getting paid. He's making 60 mil a year. We know CD lamb got paid. We know George Pickens is going to play out the year and then he's going to try to get paid. What's the latest and what's the deal with Michael Parsons?
We know Jerry likes to make everybody sweat. Had some interesting, interesting comments about David Malagueta and negotiating with Michael Parsons. What do you, you expect to happen with this contract and what did it get done?
Is it going to get messy down the line? The thing is, if you kind of look at what the Cowboys have done recently, like there's been some shots across the bow, you know, especially when you look at what Dak Prescott's negotiation looked like, you know, CD lamb, you know, stayed away, did not go to training camp until the last week when they were back in Dallas. But ultimately the Cowboys do end up paying their guys.
You know, I think one thing that's been kind of proven is that if you're willing to kind of call their bluff, you know, you know, and let the deadline make the deal, you can kind of get exactly what you want. Look what Todd France and Dak Prescott have now done multiple times in terms of negotiations with the Cowboys. One thing I know about Michael Parsons, I think he's motivated to be a leader this year.
He says right now that he's not planning on missing team activities this off season, which is kind of, you know, a little bit contrary into what CD lamb showcased last year. But the one thing I do know, the Cowboys are willing right now, according to sources, to make him the highest paid non quarterback in the NFL. And it's a matter of when, not if, I think that happens with the Cowboys. I don't foresee this getting too messy. I think Jerry would be, you know, benefit from learning David will get his name rather than questioning what it is, you know, in press briefings.
But I don't really expect it to get too messy. It's just a matter of when this deal goes down, not if. Well, Joe, it looks like we have some clarity as to what the Dallas Cowboys roster will look like the rest of the season.
I don't I don't assume anything is going to really change unless there's some terrible injury. What is your expectation for the team this upcoming season, given the division that they play in Washington has now ascended? Obviously, the Super Bowl champs are in the NFC East.
The Eagles are the ones being chased. How do the Dallas Cowboys fit in the NFC East as well as the NFC and hole? Yeah, I think it's a good question, and I think to be honest with you, in terms of the on field potential, I think George Pickens that acquisition raises their ceiling, frankly.
I think that before this, you know, when you were looking at C.D. Lamb and a bunch of other guys, you were hoping would take the next step. I think that defenses could identify very easily who they were going to try to double and target and take out of games. And that would have been a problem for the Cowboys. I think having, you know, the likes of George Pickens, I even think having a kind of a playmaker potential like Jayden Blue opens things up for this offense a little bit more than I thought potentially would have a couple weeks ago, you know, prior to the draft. So ultimately, I think that they're probably trying to compete with Washington for the second spot on the NFC East.
Maybe they're praying that Jayden Daniels has a sophomore kind of step back and, you know, they can go up and take some advantage of that. Ultimately, I think the Cowboys, you know, I think they're over under right now. Prior to the Pickens, it was set at seven and a half. I'd probably set it at nine and a half. OK. You know, with a slight slight bump of potentially over if everything goes right.
But when you add Pickens, you add the variables that they have. You have Dak Prescott's health. You have Tyler Guyton as your left tackle, your blindside hoping to be serviceable. There are some variables with this Cowboys team that I think are going to be fascinating to play out come fall. Hey, and over over a 17 game regular season, what's the over under on Jerry Jones saying wild things?
What does that look like? That's a weekly thing, potentially a daily thing over here in Dallas. I'll tell you what, we have a five day show or five shows a week, and there's never been nothing to talk about in terms of covering this team.
There's a lot. Jerry Jerry certainly keeps things interesting. Well, Joe, thank you so much for joining us. Tell everybody where they could follow you and listen to the show. Yeah, you can follow me at at Joe Jay Hoyt on X and Instagram and then DLLS Sports on YouTube is where our show is and all DLS dot com is where my written content is.
Got a feature on Tyler Booker and his kind of alpha history at Alabama that I think is pretty interesting for even non Cowboys viewers. So, yeah, thank you so much there for having me on, though. Absolutely, Joe. I appreciate it.
Let's holler at you down the line, man. Have fun. Like you said, I know things always busy down in Frisco, OK? Yeah, no doubt, man.
Thank you. No doubt about it. That Joe Hoyt covers all things Dallas Cowboys for DLLS Cowboys, says the Dallas Cowboys have traded for George Pickens. They picked up a problem from the Pittsburgh Steelers and at least for one year minimum, you can expect them to be on this best behavior, I assume. And the Dallas Cowboys, yeah. Eight to nine wins, maybe a playoff appearance. And that's about it.
Ain't no championship here, I'm just saying. It's the J.R. Sportbree show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. The phone number is 888-710-4ISN.
That's 888-710-4ISN. Do you like George Pickens on the Dallas Cowboys? Is this a good move for the Cowboys? Is this a good move for the Steelers?
I've given you my thoughts on both. I think these teams are pretty much staying in the same damn space, at least for this season. Are you happy? Do you think this was a good move? We're going to take a break and at the same time, I'm going to get the thoughts of our producer, Ryan Botcher.
And then how about this? I'm looking at the TV screen in front of me right now. Jason Tatum is warming up. Guess what he's doing? He's taking threes. Of course he is. The camera isn't showing whether or not he's making or missing them, but he's taking threes. What a shock.
We'll talk about the Knicks and Celtics too. They're getting ready to get underway. It's the J.R. Sportbree show on the Infinity Sports Network. And right now it's time for a news flash. Here he is. It's Rich Ackerman. You're listening to the J.R. Sportbree. It is the J.R. Sportbree show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. Thank you so much to Joe Hoyt for joining us in the last break. Covers all things Dallas Cowboys for DLLS Cowboys.
You can catch them weekdays on YouTube as he came through to have a chat with us about George Pickens, the newest acquisition, the newest wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys. In a few seconds, I want to get the thoughts of our producer, Ryan Botcher. I then want to talk to you about something that's getting ready to happen in about 15 to 20 minutes. That'll take place in Boston.
But before we do any of that, I need you to think O'Reilly Auto Parts for all of your car care needs get guaranteed low prices and excellent customer service from the professional parts people at O'Reilly Auto Parts. Ryan, you heard my thoughts. You heard the thoughts of Joe. When you look at George Pickens being moved from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Dallas Cowboys, what are your thoughts on this move? I think it saves them from being mediocre this year, if that means anything. I don't think there'll be, I don't know, a four win team, a three win team.
Oh my God. They weren't going to be that bad. I'm just saying there was there was a chance.
I don't think there's any chance now. Now they have George Pickens that they're going to lose in seven games. They'll fight for a wild card. I don't think they can beat the Eagles or the commanders. So I think it saved them from being mainly irrelevant this year in the NFL. Well, the Dallas Cowboys are never irrelevant.
Always things are pretty interesting on that side. I am interested in seeing what Washington does. You think about Jayden Daniels is we had one year, one year proof of concept with Jayden Daniels with the Washington commanders. And in a lot of cases with quarterbacks, it's like, OK, we saw what you did in year number one. What do you do in year number two where the defensive coordinators and teams are more accustomed to to what you've done at the professional level, less worried about what you did in college and on a week to week basis?
There's a full body of work to look at. I mean, the guy as a rookie almost took his team to the Super Bowl, which is unheard of because it's it's never happened before. So to Joe's point in our last break, it's going to be interesting to be interesting to see how the Dallas Cowboys slot in. You know, as Ryan just said, I'm looking at this like a wild card in or out and ultimately an elimination because that's just the Dallas Cowboys way. And along the way, I'm sure Jerry Jones will say something stupid.
Probably tick off Brian Schottenheimer, Schottenheimer will probably have no choice but to suck it up. It's just it's going to be a lot of crazy things happening because this is the. The Dallas Cowboys is just what it is, speaking of crazy things happening, we're about 15, 20 minutes or so away from game two in the Eastern Conference, second round here between the New York Knicks and the Boston Celtics. The last time I sat here two days ago in this studio and watched the Knicks and the Celtics, I watched the Boston Celtics blow a 20 point lead because they were three point happy, just taking every damn three under the sun. They shot 60 of them. They ended up missing 45. I mean, in the modern world of basketball, nobody in the crowd, nobody on the bench, nobody said, hey, stop shooting. They kept on shooting. They shot themselves out of the game and Jalen Brunson, 29 points OG and an OB 29 Carl Anthony Towns.
I know sometimes he's a little too passive for my liking on the offensive side of the ball. He finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds in the Knicks. They overcame that 20 point deficit as Boston said. Let's miss 45 threes right after the game ended. We heard from Jalen Brown. He's just like, listen, maybe we did take too many damn threes.
I would say so. Head coach Joe Mazzola, who's never short on words, never short on trying to breathe air. I don't think he breathes air when he speaks. It goes so damn fast. This is what Joe Mazzola had to say about the such and such selection. What we do best is read the defense and take the best shot available. And again, you know, you have to be if you take 10 shots and say, OK, here's in a vacuum.
I say 20, 20. Here's where this could be better considering this happened, this happened, that happened. So I think it's just having a situational awareness and understanding of, you know, certain points of the game and how small runs and shots like that can impact it. So it's just to balance.
You have to do both of those things. You know, if the open ones go in, we're not having this conversation. Wow. Ryan, that's the slowest I've ever heard Joe Mazzola speak. You're talking his life. Does that mean he's scared? Is that is that a sign that the Celtics are worried? Oh, no, I don't think no.
Come on now. I don't know if he loses another game, he'll be speaking at a normal level. No, I don't think the guys I don't think that guy's scared of anything. I don't think that guy is afraid of anything. He's sometimes Joe Mazzola looks like he's living on a different planet. I don't think he's showing any type of fear.
I think maybe he he lowered the caffeine level, whatever he inhaled in the morning, maybe he lowered the caffeine level on that that coffee guy looks like he just sucks it down in one sip and is just off the wall. Well, we'll see what he does tonight. I expect the the Boston Celtics to bounce back against the New York Knicks. The Knicks are not going to go quietly. I think we're going to have another good game. I don't think we're going to see a we'll see threes being shot. I don't know if we'll see 45 of them being missed.
Meanwhile, Derek White, he says, you know what? Yeah, we got smacked around in game one. We got to go to work in game two. It's the playoffs. We didn't expect it to be easy. We didn't just think we're going to sweep every time. So you'd never really know what to expect with a playoff series. And obviously you want to get game one, but it's time to move on to the next day and learn where we can get better. And it's a big one coming up tomorrow.
They in and tomorrow is today. Matter of fact, they are they are minutes away from getting started. I don't and I didn't care when the game was going on. The Knicks were down 20. The Celtics gave that game away in historic fashion. Should I expect for this to happen all the games? Am I thinking the New York Knicks are going to pick up three other victories? I'm not I'm not so sure. Tatum for 15 from downtown.
Brown, one of 10 from downtown. They are going to be ridiculously aggressive in getting up and down the court. I don't think they're going to slow down.
I think they will be ready to go. Jalen Brunson, knowing the Knicks were down 20 and know that they needed a historic collapse from the Celtics, Jalen Brunson says, yeah, we still got work to do out here. Each opportunity we get to go out there on the court or watch film is opportunity for us to get better. So I feel like we have a long way to go. But I mean, we don't want to. I mean, be satisfied that we want to continue to improve and continue to get better because there's bigger challenges ahead. Bigger challenges is still the Celtics.
Hey, Ryan, you got the next one in this series. Are you looking at the Celtics? I got the Celtics still. One game doesn't prove anything to me. I just think that the Celtics, they shot, was it 25 percent from three? I don't think that's happening again.
The rest of the series and even still, the Knicks barely won. Yeah, even even worse than that, man. Fifteen. That's. That's terrible.
That's awful. The Boston Celtics, I know there's a lot of New York Knicks fans are very enthusiastic about game one and we get another one. We can go back to New York and get another one. Oh, my God. All we need is one more.
Good luck. And by the way, that is with or without Chris Staps Porzingis, who had to exit the last game due to an illness. And let's be real. I feel like every game that Chris Staps Porzingis plays is a little bit of a gift. You don't know if you're going to have them.
You don't know if he's going to be gone. You have no idea because Chris Staps Porzingis cannot stay healthy to go out there and save his life. OK, it's not the Porzingis way. Karl-Anthony Towns, someone who also needs to be much more aggressive, but they won despite him only giving you 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Thank you for the double double. Please score some more points. He says we need to execute.
You need to execute. I mean, we gotta we gotta execute at a higher level in game two if we expect to come out with a win. So, you know, we're just focusing on the game tonight. You know, got a good shooting round, had a good day just to recalibrate and get our team together. So, you know, go out there and compete at high level.
OK, please. Can you show up and be consistent for once? You, Karl-Anthony Towns, like the New York Knicks brought you on so they can have another offensive weapon. And we saw what you did in Minnesota.
Sometimes you're on, sometimes you're not. Please help out Jaylen Brunson. OGN and OB picked up some of the scoring slack, had 29 points in the last game. Karl-Anthony Towns, they want you to knock down threes.
They want you to go into the post. They don't want you kind of just standing around looking at Jaylen Brunson for all of that. Now that I'm with an injury on a guy, you might as well be hurt like Porzingis. I don't know what Karl-Anthony Towns sickness is, but.
Oh, trepidation. Slow down, man, be more aggressive. Get the rock, yell for it. Tell Jaylen Brunson you want to go to work. You're not hurt as far as I know. It's the JR Sport Reshow here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. Knicks and Celtics will get underway in a few minutes. We're going to take a break and when we come back, we got more to get into. Talking about injuries. Calves have been hurt. Now they're down 0-2 to the Pacers. OK, and now we got Steph Curry hurt. Not good for the Golden State Warriors. Who's in more trouble? Is it the Warriors? Is it the Cavs? There's a lot to get into. Even Tom Brady talking about Chidori. The JR Sport Reshow. Don't move.
